With the GPS functionality, you can store up to 50 routes in the memory. Each route can include 50 waypoints, ten of which can be alarm points. The compass mode aids the GPS functions and offers you navigational support even when the GPS is off. The 3-axis compass sensor allows tilting up to 30 degrees while still displaying the correct bearing.

Ideally suited for fast sports, the Suunto X9's advanced timing functions enable you to record lap and split times of your runs and other similar activities. The Activity mode shows you the speed, traveled distance, time from start and other data regarding your current activity. It records your track with the speed and altitude profile that you can view on your Windows PC. It also records memory points if you have marked them. Great GPS unit
I purchased this GPS at a clearance for only $5.00! Yes, eat your heart out! I purchased the Jornada 548 for $100 off of Ebay so I have a great GPS unit for only a few bucks.

When I started using the unit, there were several things that I desired in a GPS unit that the software would not do. For instance, I live in a rural area and many of the places that I go are not physical addresses. The upgrade software enables the user to store locations based on GPS coordinates. It cost $29.00 to upgrade and was definitely worth the investment.

As far as reliability, it is solid. It locks onto the satellites quickly and has never lost the signal.

Maps takes quite a bit of space, so I bought a 256 MB flash card and am only using a small amount of that for the 2 maps that I store on my Jornada. I have not taken a trip with it yet, so don't know how it will do at mapping locations between 2 separate maps.

All in all a great unit. I couldn't be happier!

Don't buy this GPS
Purchased this GPS to connect to my HP548.
Unit was very easy to set up and install software.
Map files are very large so for any long distance traveling you will need a larger CF card for the map files. I purchased a 256mb just for this purpose.
Initially the unit kept saying to recheck the power connections when I tried to get the GPS to sync with the satellites. When it finally did sync with 3 of the 8 possible satellites it would intermittently lose sync with them making the unit basically worthless. ... Read more

Good value.
For the price you pay this is a decent fishfinder. However, even with the updated software the performance of the 240 blue has been disappointing. As long as you do not plan to fish any water deeper than 500 feet, it works well. After 500 feet you lose the reading and you then must circle back into shallower water to regain the signal. Unfortunately, you generally have to go all the way back to about 300 feet of water to actually do this. In shallow water it works well. Just keep in mind that the actual max depth is 500, not 1500, feet when buying.

The Garmin 240 is an excellent value. It is your best bet for under 300.00. It is extremely easy to install, only a one cable hook up. The High Resolution display is top of the line. Best of the best
I have used lots of diffrent gps software products and find this to be the cream of the crop. It's visual and verbal prompt made me buy a pocket pc just so i can use it. I had a palm and used the mapolis product for the palm as well. Both are great.
This beats the others hands down

Pocket PC Navigation that's fast
I use both a Palm and a Pocket PC for different applications and the Mapopolis Pocket PC Navigator solution here is outstanding. The ability to route across country, street to street seamlessly is a plus, allowing multiple 'route through' points and showing whatevetr level of detail you require. It provides turn by turn spoken and visual commands and if you go the wrong way it recalculates your route from where you are - no stopping to fiddle with the PDA. I particularly like three of the features; firstly it allows you to scroll or drag the map across the screen - you can see the WHOLE of the USA and by simply sliding your stylus across the screen , a new portion of map appears, regardless of the zoom level - great for checking out what's on the way to your destination. Secondly, it allows multiple options for avoiding Toll Roads and Freeways which is great if you're not planning on sitting in 5 o'clock traffic. Finally, I guess my favorite, is the ability to add your own favorite locations - called Geomarks - such as customers, friends, Fedex buildings or whatever, and then route to, through or from these places - it saves retyping your addresses over and over again!
