The basic Motorola clamshell format continues to provide a solid and attractive option for any dedicated cell phone user. Its steel frame is compact and attractive, (the faceplate-changing capabilities seem a bit unnecessary) and it's loaded with all the essential features you'll need for power usage plus a few bonuses. You may find the volume a bit high out of the box, and it goes into hibernate almost as fast as you can dial a number, but these are minor, adjustable quibbles on a truly stellar phone.

Uploaded UploadedUsed simply as a cell phone, the V600 features a 4-way scroll key with multiple dedicated function keys for easy menu navigation. Primary calling features include voice dialing, integrated speakerphone, vibrate mode, call timers, redial, missed call indicator, call log, any-key answer, auto-answer, auto-redial, roaming indicator, speed dial, linked (credit card) dialing, phonebook look-up, phonebook scroll, mute control, no-answer transfer, one-touch 911, system select, usage alert, and a phone book of up to 1250 entries, including picture caller ID functionality. When the phone is closed, its external screen (two lines, 96 x 32 pixels) displays caller ID, date, time, and various status icons, including text message waiting, voice message waiting, battery and signal strength, and voice and message mail. There's even a blue backlight for nighttime viewing.

The V600 sports well-placed, well-machined keys, and its compact size does nothing to hinder dialing even for large-fingered users. The solid scroll keys bring you to very intuitive menus presented nicely on a single screen, marked by functional but showier-than-necessary graphics. There are also dedicated external buttons for speaker volume, voice recording, and ring volume.

Messaging and Internet
The advanced MMS capabilities built in to the V600 enable users to send, edit, forward, and receive image, text, audio, and video messages over the wireless Internet, to and from compatible phones or PCs. (Messages can run up to 100k in size.) You'll also get instant messaging capability, messaging templates, SMS two-way messaging, conventional email, and predictive text assistance. Beyond messaging, the V600's Internet connectivity lets you access online services such as stock quotes, road directions, airline information, entertainment, and more. You can also download Java applications (version CLDC 1.0, MIDP 2.0, 100k per application limit) for which the phone provides 5 MB total (shared) memory. High-speed data transfer and download round out the package. The V600 supports digital TTY/TDD functionality for the hearing impaired.

Organizer
Organizer features include a calendar, calculator with currency converter, date book with event storage, and voice memo. You can also transfer this data to your PC wirelessly via the phone's Bluetooth capability.

We found the V600's appointment scheduling to be right in line with our fairly basic needs. Other than the universal annoyance of pecking out appointment details with the ten-key letter system (there's no QWERTY keyboard here as you'll find on some of the more recent, albeit early-adopter phones) this phone's organizer features provided enough data entry space for any busy person taking these functions seriously, but no more.

Fun and Games
For fun, the V600 sports a built-in 640 x 480 pixel integrated digital camera with zoom and brightness adjustment functions. Pictures taken with the camera can be stored in the phone or sent to others via multimedia messaging. The 5 MB of memory available for storing pictures is also shared with whatever wallpapers, screensavers, ring tones, Java applications, or games you may download from the Internet. The V600 also features 24 chord ring tone capability. Users can assign different tones for different callers in the V600's phonebook, and assign separate tones to denote incoming messages, faxes, and reminders. Wireless multiplayer gaming capabilities and two included games, "Bejeweled" and "Stuntman", round out the entertainment perks with this phone.

Conclusions
We liked this phone's very basic camera. It was easy to use and worry-free (nothing's going to break off), and the device can be accessed instantly from the phone's top level screen menu. From power on, it only took us a moment to take and save a fairly nice picture. However, photo quality is only adequate; about as good as you'd expect for a cell phone circa 2004, as opposed to a dedicated digital camera. We also found the ring tones included with the phone to be generally pleasant, and it was a breeze to assign a custom tone to a number in the phonebook, thanks again to the easy menu system. The included games were basic and fairly fun (at least once). In "Stuntman", the phone's vibrate mode provided road rumble as a little car skidded around a bland, full-color stunt course. But player beware! Once the game starts, the volume goes LOUD and is not apparently adjustable. Finally, there is a nutty little feature called Motomixer, which lets you modify various settings on lit! tle songs that you can download, emulating a very rudimentary, miniature studio console.

In all, we found the Motorola V600 to be a rock solid, highly effective cell phone, with attractive and efficient graphic and audio capabilities. We recommend the V600 without reservations for any serious user.

Why the opposite sex loves V600
V600 is the best, most expensive cell phones I have ever had and I soon realized that both men and women like it. Before I give the reason, here are the pros and cons I have experienced so far.

PROS:
1) Free, nice looking ear piece was delivered with my item.
2) With headset plugged in, calls can be answered without having to open (or even touch) the phone !
3) You can use it as a modem and for faxes!
4) Pictures taken from its camera are decent when you see them on the large phone display.
5) Plays very clear sounds and videos
6) Built in Voice dialling feature is a real cool feature.
7) Datebook, calculators and capability to receive free text messages (on AT&T) can make you much more organized
8) mMode subscription (AT&T) to surf the web can make you very productive.

CONS:
1) For AT&T customers, having the mMode key same as the general select key is a major problem. Overall, a very good buy. It is almost a PDA at the cost of a cell phone.

CONCLUSION: A great gift for your significant other. While the men will love it for all the cool features and a chance to use some real complex ones like faxes, women will love it for its smooth top and chic look.

Excellent phone with few pitfalls
V600 is the best, most expensive cell phones I have ever had.

Worthless as any other motorola
I was reading through the reviews and was wondering whether I was using a different phone than others. But the last time I checked my phone was Motorola V600 and it sucks just like any other Motorola phone.
I used to have T-Mobile until a month ago and boy! did AT&T trick me with all the signals they show in their ads. My worst experience with a cell phone or a provider.
I never get good signal. It gets disconnected often. With T-Mobile I used to have very good signal at work. Now I will be lucky if I have two signals out of how many I don't know, since I never went past 4 signal till now.
Also the phone scratches itself. It has a lots of features like camera, browser and other. But, Hello I bought the cell phone to make calls. To take pictures I have a beautiful Nikon 4200 at home and verizon DSL for internet.
Sound you hear is blurry when using the speaker phone and they could hardly hear u at the other end.
My friend has AT&T and a Nokia phone which gets better signals than mine. Motorola V300 had a better look and it had a better material to get good grip.
With AT&T I have not spoken to a customer service person because each time I call I have to wait for atleast 15 Min. Try that with this phone... I get disconnected within 5 mins.
My suggestion:Donot buy this phone and never get AT&T as your provider or stay in back of the line of millions with all your grievances for the next two years.

Wait for next version
1) You can not talk while the phone is charging, so if your battery is dead and you have a charger and need to make a call you are SOL.

2) Sometimes the phone will not charge and completely drain even though you have it plugged into the charger.

What can't it do?
I've had it for two weeks, it's pretty cool. Bluetooth, fold out keyboard, camera, voice dialing, syncs with the PC, works as a wireless modem. People are jealous of the keyboard.... Reception is fine, voice quality is good, battery life is good. Nokia's PC Suite software gets better with every revision. Yes, fip phones are all the rage, but you still have to triple tap the keys too much when you text people. I suggest you go see this phone, it certainly was a must-have for me....

Great Phone
I have tried SprintPCS, Verison Wireless and now ATT and decided to go with the 6820. I love the phone - syncs (using bluetooth) great with my outlook on my PC/laptop and the bluetooth headset (Jabra BT250) works great as well with it. The keyboard is just amazing - very useful to quickly add an appointment or send an SMS. The only regret I have is the screen size (compared to the font size used) - wish it were a little bit bigger (made me consider the 6600 from T-Mobile for a while but the 6820 is a winner overall for me). The camera is inferior compared to other phones but again this is not a camera, its a phone first.

would love to have it but Amazon has become a mess and...
can't deliver the goods. After ordering, I received a notice from Amazon that I had to call AT&T to complete the credit process. When I called the number provided, AT&T told me that they had no record of the order and gave me Amazon's number - her supervisor had informed her that she was not to waste any time on Amazon customers. So after spending a considerable amount of time trying to work with Amazon people, I'm now told that they are standing by their original message. WHAT A BUNCH OF IDI0TS! how do they run a biz like this? It would have been nice if they could actually fullfil the order...

Sporting a large, 4,096-color display screen and an unconventional, rotary-style keypad, we found the sturdy, feature-rich Nokia 3650 cell phone one of the best designed phones on the market, with excellent ease-of-use, crystal-clear reception, and a camera, video camera, and Internet access.

In our tests, we found that the comfortable rounded base of this 5-inch phone rested easily our palm, and the clever retro button display took only a moment of getting used to. The buttons and disc navigation felt quite durable, with a nice, solid action. Menu navigation involves two thin buttons on the top left and right that allowed us to move in and out of menus; then the standard 4-point clickable disc provided more detailed selection. There's a separate button for the main menu prominently below the disc, and the faux-rotary layout of the number buttons helped keep the navigation buttons out of the way during dialing. The requisite call and hang-up buttons are intuitively marked, and a futuristic-looking blue light shines through the numbers on all the buttons for easy keying in low-light areas.

The 3560 delivered consistent, excellent reception in a variety of testing environments, including a basement-level room that typically causes trouble with similar phones. The default ring tones were a bit too gentle for their own good; they were hard to hear in busy outdoor environments. The tones that we created using the composing feature, however, were quite audible, even in the midst of lots of noise. The vibrate alert was also quite effective and hard to miss. Nokia has also preloaded a variety of other polyphonic ring tones for alternate use, as well as a voice-dialing feature, which stores 25 numbers and was easy to use.

Thanks to high-speed GPRS connection, users can access a variety of Web content, such as news, travel information, and entertainment specifically designed for mobile phones via an XHTML browser, which supports pages written in both HTML and WML (Wireless Markup Language). The 3650's calendar, phone book, and to-do list can all be synchronized with a PC using Nokia 3650 PC Suite software. This phone also supports Java for downloading business applications, and built-in Bluetooth and infrared connections empower users to send photos and text in either e-mail or MMS format to a PC or to another compatible wireless device. Some of the downloadable Java and Symbian applications provided by Nokia through their website include Merriam-Webster Word Search, and games like Racing Fever, Avant Go, and Terminator.

The phone's digital VGA camera is cleverly built in to the back of phone, and can store up to 1,000 photos at 640 x 480 megapixel resolution on its (upgradeable) 16 MB memory card. Also, the Nokia 3650's photo capability is immediately accessible from the top-level display menu, so unlike other phones it was easy to snap a photo at a moment's notice. The camera records images in standard, portrait, and a nighttime mode.

With the same basic set of controls, RealOne software lets the video recording function capture short, low-fidelity sound and video clips for immediate MP4 video playback on the generous screen or for sending to another Web-enabled user. The 15-frames-per-second video recording rate delivers stuttering, delayed images that look sort of like Neil Armstrong's transmissions from the Moon. We found this all very entertaining, and potentially useful for transmitting small bits of information, but hard to take seriously as a true video recording device.

Among the scores of additional features on this phone are text messaging templates, where you create a basic message (like "Let's eat at --- ") then fill in the blank as you wish; a foreign currency and units converter for the jet set crowd, and a "favorites" folder to store Web shortcuts and links. For hearing-impaired customers, Nokia even provides TTY/TDD (Telecommunication Device for the Deaf) compatibility. The headset included with this phone is functional, and Li-Ion battery comes rated for up to 4 hours of digital talk and 200 hours of digital standby time. The phone comes with a refreshingly well-written manual. How We Tested Battery Talk/Standby Time

When reading our reviews, you should view the test results of mobile-phonebattery talk time and standby time as relative information only. Many variables,including carrier signal strength at your location, signal consistency(including incoming and outgoing calls), display and ringer settings, andbattery charging methods and history, will affect performance. When handsetmanufacturers and mobile phone carriers list talk-time and standby-time ratings,they usually include disclaimers about variable performance and often refer tothe times they publish as maximum times. Some quote expected battery liferanges, and in this case you're probably safe to assume you'll experience atleast the minimum rated range. Note that manufacturers of dual-mode digital andanalog handsets publish battery-life rates for both digital and analog modes, asanalog mode consumes much more power than digital mode.

Our Tests: We tested digital-mode talk and standby times with each phone.Prior to each test, we fully charged the phone's battery according to themanufacturer's directions. To test digital-phone talk time, we turned the phoneon, established a digital carrier signal, dialed a number in our test lab, and,when the call rang through, took the receiving phone's handset off the hook.When all went well, we didn't do anything else except record the time when thephone died. In a couple of cases, the phones lost the signal and dropped thecalls. If we were right there and could redial, we did so immediately andcontinued running the test. Otherwise, we halted the test, recharged thebattery, and started the test over. Assuming consistent carrier-signal strength,this test should represent best-case talk time. And it's worth noting thatseveral phones' talk-time performance significantly exceeded the manufacturers'ratings.

To test digital-phone standby time, we turned the phone on, established acarrier signal, and left the phone in standby mode. We checked the phone everyfew hours (for what was often days on end) until the phone finally cut out.Since no outgoing or incoming calls occurred during testing and because thephone was not moved, this method should represent best-case standby time, againassuming consistent carrier signal strength.

Nice Phone - except for Mmode button on face
The phone has been a good performer. It took a bit to get used to the round keypad design. The camera is functional but not better than my cheap Intel Pocket PC Digital Camera I purchased in 2000. The infrared interface makes tranferring photos a breeze.

The real nightmare is the Mmode button on the face that also acts as your BACK button. I have been accidentally accumulating charges under $5 per month from the button being pushed when the phone is in the case. I had decided that the Mmode feature was clunky and not viable in the first week of getting the phone. I found out from ATT Wireless that this "feature" cannot be disabled. Therefore, my phione would continue to make connections on its own and I would be billed for them. Unacceptable. The Mmode connection should be buried in the menu like all other options.

I ended up removing the right BACK / Mmode button so that connection was impossible. I have contacted Nokia via email requesting the connection settings within the PC Suite for Nokia 3650 to inhibit the Mmode connection through failure to find the appropriate server or service.

a bulky one with gr8 features
i have bought from ATT n i dont think we can send ringtones. n the other issue is that copyin the contacts to sim card. needs to be done one by one. if a contact has multiple nbrs, then each one shud be handled explicitly. i donno if it really had better options to do that. if so, plz ignore this. as u all know, it is bulky. except for these, this is a gr8 phone. i love it.

The phone was overall good.
The phone was awesome most of the time. There was a few issues with the screen freezing and without an extra memory card it could only hold about 40 pictures. Another problem was the volume is awfull real queit and hard to hear along with the phones ringing volume even at the top volume it is hard to hear. But the phone has cool features and a great screen size. The internet is quick and real helpfull on it. And i never had an issue with reception. T-mobile has great plans at great rates!!

Sporting a large, 4,096-color display screen and an unconventional, rotary-style keypad, we found the sturdy, feature-rich Nokia 3650 cell phone one of the best designed phones on the market, with excellent ease-of-use, crystal-clear reception, and a camera, video camera, and Internet access.

In our tests, we found that the comfortable rounded base of this 5-inch phone rested easily our palm, and the clever retro button display took only a moment of getting used to. The buttons and disc navigation felt quite durable, with a nice, solid action. Menu navigation involves two thin buttons on the top left and right that allowed us to move in and out of menus; then the standard 4-point clickable disc provided more detailed selection. There's a separate button for the main menu prominently below the disc, and the faux-rotary layout of the number buttons helped keep the navigation buttons out of the way during dialing. The requisite call and hang-up buttons are intuitively marked, and a futuristic-looking blue light shines through the numbers on all the buttons for easy keying in low-light areas.

The 3560 delivered consistent, excellent reception in a variety of testing environments, including a basement-level room that typically causes trouble with similar phones. The default ring tones were a bit too gentle for their own good; they were hard to hear in busy outdoor environments. The tones that we created using the composing feature, however, were quite audible, even in the midst of lots of noise. The vibrate alert was also quite effective and hard to miss. Nokia has also preloaded a variety of other polyphonic ring tones for alternate use, as well as a voice-dialing feature, which stores 25 numbers and was easy to use.

In Calendar, you can keep track of your appointments, meetings, birthdays, anniversaries, and other events. You can also set a calendar alarm to remind you of upcoming events. Thanks to high-speed GPRS connection, users can access a variety of Web content, such as news, travel information, and entertainment specifically designed for mobile phones via an XHTML browser, which supports pages written in both HTML and WML (Wireless Markup Language). The 3650's calendar, phone book, and to-do list can all be synchronized with a PC using Nokia 3650 PC Suite software. This phone also supports Java for downloading business applications, and built-in Bluetooth and infrared connections empower users to send photos and text in either e-mail or MMS format to a PC or to another compatible wireless device. With the same basic set of controls, RealOne software lets the video recording function capture short, low-fidelity sound and video clips for immediate MP4 video playback on the generous screen or for sending to another Web-enabled user. When reading our reviews, you should view the test results of mobile-phonebattery talk time and standby time as relative information only. Many variables,including carrier signal strength at your location, signal consistency(including incoming and outgoing calls), display and ringer settings, andbattery charging methods and history, will affect performance. OVERRATED...
This phone obviously has been givin some buzz because of its video camera feature, but the quality really [stinks] and you can only record 12 seconds. And if you're trying to film something that's moving, the quality is horrible. A major drawback to this phone is its quiet ringtone. YOU CANNOT HEAR IT. plus the ring tone is like 4-poly or something, much less than the samsungs with 40-poly. my sister's samsung s105 makes my phone sound [aweful]-- her ring tone is much richer and louder. also her LCD screen is much more vibrant. This Nokia has only 4,096 colors, whereas the samsung phones have 65,000 colors. Overall, the Nokia 3650 lacks quality in basic features like screen color and ring tone, but has extra features like video camera and phone voice memo. The phone has an overall plastic cheap feel to it too; i feel that if i drop it, it'll be the end.

another drawback is its alarm system. YOU HAVE TO SET THE ALARM EVERY SINGLE DAY. You cannot set a fixed daily alarm with the alarm feature. (Instead, you can use the calendar feature to ring every morning at 6am, but then it will mark every day on your calendar, making you think that you have some appointment or meeting when it's only the alarm!) Another thing is that it's so confusing! It will take you a whole 2 or 3 days to explore everything... I mean, it took me a whole day to figure out how to change the ringtone... I couldn't find the right menu. it so happens that the ring tone feature is under the profiles menu.. What the heck?? It should be under SOUNDS or something. This phone is very limited as well.. you can only take so many pictures and video caps before your phone will go "NOT ENOUGH MEMORY. PLEASE DELETE SOME DATA FIRST" at EVERYTHING you do, even if you're not trying to take another picture or video.

Overall i regret not buying the SAMSUNG v205 camera phone... i think i definitely want to get flip phones..

Cell phone with lots of promises!
I was amazed to see this phone as being the best seller. Probably because its free with new service and promises to do a lot of things.

Pro's,
1. It has a big color screen with decent quality.
2. It is based on Symbian OS, which means you can load many applications like mp3go, document viewers, games etc.
3. Has a slot for MMC card. Which means you can add a 128MB MMC card and put lots of mp3 on it.
4. Speakerphone mode very well in silent areas.
5. Faceplates can be changed easily once the old one gets scratched or to just for fun.
6. Camera is the best you will find on a cell phone. It has a real utility inspite of low resolution and is very easy to use.
7. Good reception and no ugly antenna like in Motorola and Samsung phones. Antennas break in your pocket.
8. Can record even a video and also play them fine. The processor on the phone can handly 128kbps mp3 playback and still function as a cell phone.
9. Comes bundled with a 16MB SD card and about 4MB internal memory to store hundred's of pics. This better that most 3MP digital camera's!
10. Uses standard Nokia charger/battery/headphone jack etc. Which means you can use most of your old Nokia accessories.

Con's,
1. Battery life is poor, needs daily charging. Nokia designed new color screen phone but kept old battery.
2. Menu's aren't as intuitive as on traditional Nokia phones. This one uses Symbian which is more like a PDA. Also way too many buttons.
3. Screen's backlight turns off very quickly, even when u r playing a game! Haven't found a way to change this. Very annoying.
4. The battery door is a bit flimsy and moves. The case is also ordinary plastic not metallic like an Elph or V60.
5. Its huge compared to other small phones and also a bit bulky.
6. Keypad is weird and takes some time to get used to, esp for SMS use. Games aren't fun either because of the keypad.
7. MMC card slot is not easily accessible like in a PDA. A bit painful to upload/download mp3 songs and pics.
8. Doesn't support SD cards, only MMC.
9. Low max ring volume means you will miss many calls.
10. Weird implementation of Bluetooth means only some BT devices work with it.

Its not perfect though. It needs better battery, screen and keypad. Also its too big/bulky for a cell phone. This phone from Nokia has almost every feature you can ask from a cell phone.

well, I owned this phone for 10 months now and its too big.. all the features are great. really a great phone...but kinda too bulky and heavy.

also that circular dial pad isnt comofrtable. thats why they changed it for the new 3660. overall its a nice phone.

pretty okay phone
I've had this phone for almost a year (...). I actually like the keypad, it's unique and not at all hard to get used to. The screen is large and colorful, and the there are many great polyphonic ringtones to choose from.

The downsides might just be my specific phone or my service, but here they are:

- phone is very large, compared to most others
- my battery seems to last just a couple days when I don't even make any calls during that time
- the ringtones, at the highest setting, are really quiet when vibrate is off, and extremely loud when vibrate is on.. not in between.
- even when I make the volume the loudest, what I hear from the phone is still much, much quieter than my friends phones, and it's difficult to talk in loud/normal rooms.
- I don't get service in the subway (understandable) or elevators (when many of my friends do) or even in stores, sometimes.

I don't really use the camera/video feature except for the thumbnails of my contacts, which I find nice.. seeing a friend's face (small) pop up on the screen when I get a call.

I find the to-do list and notes and calendar, etc, all useful.

Overall.. there are nice features on here, and I guess the only negative thing that is certain to be in all Nokia 3650 phones (since the other downsides might just be my phone) is the big size.

i have had this phone for a little over a year now and overall, i really like it. i like the fact that it is a little bigger than the typical phone so that i can find it in my purse. my reception is great unless i am somewhere in the middle of a forest, the screen is large and colorful, picture quality of the phone is the best i've seen amongst camara phones, and i've even dropped it a few times and it has held up nicely. all in all, for the deal i got on the phone, how could i even consider complaining? ... In our tests, we found that the basic Motorola clamshell format continues to provide a solid and attractive option for any dedicated cell phone user. Its steel frame is compact and attractive, (the faceplate-changing capabilities seem a bit unnecessary) and it's loaded with all the essential features you'll need for power usage plus a few bonuses. You may find the volume a bit high out of the box, and it goes into hibernate almost as fast as you can dial a number, but these are minor, adjustable quibbles on a truly stellar phone.

Calling Features

Used simply as a cell phone, the V600G features a 4-way scroll key with multiple dedicated function keys for easy menu navigation. Primary calling features include voice dialing, integrated speakerphone, vibrate mode, call timers, redial, missed call indicator, call log, any-key answer, auto-answer, auto-redial, roaming indicator, speed dial, linked (credit card) dialing, phonebook look-up, phonebook scroll, mute control, no-answer transfer, one-touch 911, system select, usage alert, and a phone book of up to 1250 entries, including picture caller ID functionality. When the phone is closed, its external screen (two lines, 96 x 32 pixels) displays caller ID, date, time, and various status icons, including text message waiting, voice message waiting, battery and signal strength, and voice and message mail. In our tests, we found that the V600G sports well-placed, well-machined keys, and its compact size does nothing to hinder dialing even for large-fingered users. In our tests, we found the V600G's appointment scheduling to be right in line with our fairly basic needs. Other than the universal annoyance of pecking out appointment details with the ten-key letter system (there's no QWERTY keyboard here as you'll find on some of the more recent, albeit early-adopter phones) this phone's organizer features provided enough data entry space for any busy person taking these functions seriously, but no more.

Fun and Games

For fun, the V600G sports a built-in 640 x 480 pixel integrated digital camera with zoom and brightness adjustment functions. Pictures taken with the camera can be stored in the phone or sent to others via multimedia messaging. The 5 MB of memory available for storing pictures is also shared with whatever wallpapers, screensavers, ring tones, Java applications, or games you may download from the Internet. The V600G also features 24 chord ring tone capability. Users can assign different tones for different callers in the V600G's phonebook, and assign separate tones to denote incoming messages, faxes, and reminders. Wireless multiplayer gaming capabilities and two included games, "Bejeweled" and "Stuntman", round out the entertainment perks with this phone.

In our tests, we liked this phone's very basic camera. It was easy to use and worry-free (nothing's going to break off), and the device can be accessed instantly from the phone's top level screen menu. From power on, it only took us a moment to take and save a fairly nice picture. However, photo quality is only adequate; about as good as you'd expect for a cell phone circa 2004, as opposed to a dedicated digital camera. We also found the ring tones included with the phone to be generally pleasant, and it was a breeze to assign a custom tone to a number in the phonebook, thanks again to the easy menu system. The included games were basic and fairly fun (at least once). In "Stuntman", the phone's vibrate mode provided road rumble as a little car skidded around a bland, full-color stunt course. But player beware! Once the game starts, the volume goes LOUD and is not apparently adjustable. Finally, there is a nutty little feature called Motomixer, which lets you modify various settings on songs that you can download, emulating a very rudimentary, miniature studio console.

In all, we found the Motorola V600G to be a rock solid, highly effective cell phone, with attractive and efficient graphic and audio capabilities. We recommend the Motorola V600G without reservations, for any serious user.

Nice phone, but it hates OS X
The phone is sweet, but don't even think about using it with your mac. The bluetooth will allow you to copy pictures and ringtones back and forth from your computer to your phone. But, iSync doesn't work at all. Not with bluetooth. Not even with Motorola's USB data cable. You can use a 3rd party app (onSync) to copy with the data cable, but it won't copy your calendar information at all. And while it will copy your address book, contacts with multiple phone numbers will be listed separately for each number in your phone's address book, making it totally cluttered. The phone itself is nice and all, but what's the point of all this newfangled technology if you can't use it?

Maybe hold out for an iSync update. Maybe hold out for Tiger. But, if I can get out of my Cingular contract, that's exactly what I'll be doing.

My advice? Take a Texas on this one (El Pass-o).

Pretty good... some glitches
After receiving my phone from Amazon, it was a pain to activate the phone through Cingular because some representatives had no idea what they're doing.
Also, Amazon ran at least 9 credit checks under my name so I could not activate my phone at a Cingular store.
After all the red tape, I finally activated my phone through Cingular Porting Dept.

I had downloaded some ring tones but somehow they got lost on the phone along with some pictures that I took also.

The pictures show up because they're attached to someone in my phonebook, but not in the 'picture' section.

The ringtones were showing up under 'Ring Style', but not anymore.

I've owned a few Motorola phones before, they're prone to software glitches, so I'm used that. I'm lucky that I have friends that work for Motorola. :)

Also, one time I was receiving a call and both the outer caller ID screen and inner screen were both blank. I had to shut off the phone and restart for it to work.

The phone has a lot of cool features, I like it a lot.
So, just beware that it's not a perfect phone.

Nice phone
This phone got a lot improved from the previous model of V300. Compare to V300 plastic cover and low resoultion of color, this phone sure gives you more of each things. A unique design with the metal cover, the bluetooth supported, 64k color and you can go with actual MP3 ringtone on it! It sound a lot better than the way V300 sound. The reason I am not giving it five stars - because battary life doesn't last long, the phone is a little bit haveyer than what I have excepted, the phone somehow lagging bad when you call out and receive calls.

Apparently there is a recall
This seems to be an excelent product. I went to purchase it this morning at Cingular. However they are no longer selling it. Not many details were provided, but apparently there is a recall due to some bugs. This is no official information, but check before you buy it.

Okay, the meat and potatoes. The Nokia N-Gage QD didn’t disappoint when it came to gaming performance on a handheld device. Gone are the days of clumsily pushing the directional pad inward to make a selection; a separate selection button is now available. The newly placed slot for games and memory expansion cards is one of the biggest improvements as users no longer have to remove the battery and cover to pop in a new game. The card slot is now easily accessible on the outside edge of the unit and is protected by a rubber cover.

Our test model came with Ashen, a three-dimensional first-person shooter set in a macabre, supernatural world. Creepy-crawly things were coming at us from all directions and we found ourselves pretty immersed in the game--quite amazing, given that the screen is a little smaller than a business card. Graphics were impressive, too, for such a small device that offers robust battery life (Nokia claims 10 hours of play time on a single charge).

Taking it back to the store
I did a lot of research before switching service and purchasing a new phone before I decided on this one. I was wrong. The phone has a lot of wonderful and useful features, but...
* it is very, very small.. constantly checking pocket to see if it's there
* the little nav button in the middle is very easy to use... but you end up dialing into m-mode every time you move it and
* I found that I was constantly putting it in to silent mode if I didn't wait long enough for the keypad to lock before putting it away
* CANNOT see the screen outside or in the car here in Phoenix, shaded or not, I guess we have just too much sunlight.
* volume is very low on highest setting
* Extremely poor reception and/or signal. ATT service bites the big one here. I live and work in the central Phx area and am lucky to get 2 bars anywhere. Large number of dropped calls and have to redial several times to connect.

I am still within my 30 day trial period and I'm taking the phone back and cancelling service with ATT. Problem, is there isn't anything else on the market right now that has the features I actually want...bluetooth and/or speakerphone, camera, flip phone... don't want or need the data stuff.

great phone, wonderful features
i'm quite pleased with the t616 i got with my ATT GSM wireless plan. the plan itself works well, we have the usual disdain for ATT wireless' customer service, but the phone itself works well. i'm finding the ATT network to be superb stateside, and i will get to try it out globally later this year.

the phone's buttons work well for people with small fingers (i'm one of them), so keep that in mind. it fits snugly in my pocket, has stood up to many miles of travel and use, and the battery keeps a decent charge.

picture quality is pretty weak, grainy pictures and someodd colors. but that's what you get when you use a phone as a camera ...

the ringtones are annoying, luckily you can find them online for free (ie myt610.net). all i want is my old nokia basic ring!

i've been using bluetooth to move pictures and sounds around, not mMode or anything fancy. it works flawlessly with Mac OS X and random PC bluetooth adapters. i haven't used the GPRS service, so i can't comment on it. i do like the integrated task minder, i'm making heavy use of it.

for a small, clear, feature rich phone, this is a strong contender for anyone's needs.

Small but Feature Packed
This is a good phone, not the greatest I've ever had but the service is good in Oklahoma and Texas. I've only had problems becasue I dropped the phone one too many times beyond that its a great phone. The camera on the phone does exactly what it needs to its a camera phone not a digital camera. The bluetooth in it is great with Macs and Pocket PC's enabled with bluetooth. The phones features can not be beat.

Good one
As far as i now this is one of the best phone from sony ericsson. Its compact and very easy to use.

Pros: It has a good battery life, I charge my Phone once in two days. You could talk for 10 hours max. The Menu is the best i have used so far and has a lot of cool feautures . The joystick navigator heps you navigate without seeing the screen. It has almost all the feautures you would want in a phone. The voice control is amazing as it could recognize all my commands but beware it sucks the battery to death in a few hours. It has got some cool themes. It also charges pretty quickly. The reception is clear on plain open grounds but looses power in buildings.

Cons; The camera is a big joke. As it is with all high resolution colour display ,its very difficult to view in sunlight. The internet Mmode button is placed in a wrong postion that triggers the net now and then, unless you lock the keyboard. The ring tones are pathetic, I could find only one that i could hear.It has an old phone ring tone which is kinda cool. You could download new tones and wallpapers in a jiffy. The reception is not that powerful. The browser is kinda diificult to get started with.

The bottomline : Buy it , its a good deal , but choose a good carrier. If i have to buy another phone , i would buy T616 again
but not with AT&T.

Great phone except for PC connectivity
I bought this phone for my wife (she wanted something small and cute) - she loves the phone and size. I decided to get a Nokia 6820 for PC syncing (with Outlook) capabilities.

Pros:
+ size
+ bright, crisp screen
+ bluetooth
+ camera is not bad

Cons:
+ Contact manager does NOT have addresses
+ phone ringer too low
+ syncing with PC using Sony Ericsson's software is a tough process - its a mess trying to make the phone be recognized by the software (at least for me it was and I a software engineer working in the IT field for over 7 years) ... Read more

Small and "cute" but inefficient and annoying
The main reason I bught this phone was for its size and its extremely long battery power. In these respects it did not fail. However, I've found myself wishing several times that I could throw it against the wall in a burst of fury. First it is slow to respond. You hit the send button, and you may have to do this 2-4 times because for some reason it does not "connect" despite having good reception, and you have to wait about 5 seconds before it connects. Its even slow when navigating through the menu.
Second, and I'll explain this with an example, let's say you've just called a friend's house, and he's not there. Now the natural thing to do is call his cell-phone. To do this, you have to click 5 buttons! Following each button press, there is about half-a-second lag, because the phone is so slow.
Third, The ring tones are cheesy and not polyphonic, which is what you would expect with such a "futuristic phone". I mean, it has bluetooth connectivity for heaven's sake.
Other than that, the phone is fine!

No redeeming value
This is the worst phone ever made! It does nothing well. The reception is awful and it drops calls frequently, the fit and finish is poor (the screen fills with dust obscuring the low rez screen), it only displays 256 colors making it useless for pictures, bluetooth works intermittently, buttons are too small and press themselves too easily in pockets (even with key lock on), joystick broke with light use...

Shall I go on?

Do yourself a favor, avoid all Sony Ericsson products. If this phone is any indication of their commitment to product quality, they need to get out of the business.

Nice Features but Not Durable-Poor Reception
I bought the T68i for its advanced features and bluetooth compatibility. I was able to synchronize the phone with my ACT! database and found the phonebook and calendar functions of the phone quite good.

Bluetooth performance was spotty. I needed to re-establish the bluetooth link with headset quite frequently. Sometimes this worked without a hitch other times it took several tries.

Reception on the phone was spotty in some areas where other ATT Next Generation phones had good reception...don't know why this was.

My biggest complaint about this phone was its durability. Through normal wear and tear it just didn't measure up. The earpiece volume button popped off just a couple of months after I got the phone. This was a real problem since there was no other way to easily adjust earpiece volume.

I think ATT had a lot of problems with these phones since they offered free replacements with another model (unfortunately that model did not have bluetooth or many of the other features).

After 14 months of use...
After 14 months of use Ill talk about this phone that I still own (and which Im hoping to get rid of once $370 falls out of the sky so I can get the Motorola V600). The size is great because Im a tiny phone person. The color screen is even fairly nice although it's a bit pixely. I like the whole digital phone thing as a screen saver.

But the cons kill me. Ive had two of these phones. First off that little side volume button didn't break off but it no longer works and that happened on both phones. The first phone it just kinda wiggled up and down. It does what it is supposed to do on this phone but it just refuses to work. It worked for about a week and just stopped. When I first had this phone, I had some huge roaming bills cuz it would just randomly jump into cingular. I still get charged for text message roaming sometimes...don't ask me how. Keeping numbers on the SIM card is a hassle because you can't do categories with this phone for the SIM. It has to be MOM Cell, MOM Home, MOM Work etc. whereas if you store them on the phone you can just put MOM and then enter her work, cell, home, email etc. in the different slots. My first phone threw a hissy fit and had a memory malfunction. One day it just decided that it was going to erase 3/4 of my numbers. Basically my phone booked looked like Alan space space space space Cindy space space space space space space Tammy etc. You had no access to the deleted numbers nor could you recover them and a bonehead AT&T operator told me to do memory reset and i lost ALL of my numbers after that. This phone is also prone to shutting itself off within pockets are purses even if the key lock is on. It has the voice dial but it would help if the voice dial rerecognized my voice. i set it up but hardly use it. The ringtones suck and if you're a person who likes to play games (which I don't) those stink too. This phone is a little old and outdated so i say buy something current and more costly and don't waste your $150.

The T68i is a terrible phone
I remember when this phone came out. I had to have it. I thought it was the coolest looking phone I had ever seen. After payeing somewhere around $400.00 to get it, I quickly learned of it's poor qualities. First off, the volume control fell off. Read the other reviews, it is a known flaw that is bound to happen. Secondly, the phone is SLOW! When you turn it on it takes about 3 or 4 minutes before you can use it. Storage for pictures is really low and the image quality is crap. The wireless bluetooth works great but I can get that from other phones. The size is nice. I read here that someone sync it up with thier computer so they can use it as a modem??? WOW they are good I have been trying to do that for the past 3 years. I hear they K700 is comming out and it looks like a good phone to replace the T68i. But then I have to remember when the T68i came out and think to myself, "do I really want another headache?" ... Read more

Lovers of online multiplayer gaming will like Nokia's N-Gage Arena, which allows gamers to come together on the wireless Internet to compete and cooperate in a variety of online games.

We had some reservations about the number of currently available games for the N-Gage. Many are forthcoming, however, and Nokia has obviously made a serious commitment to improving the platform. The N-Gage QD is a clear and positive sign of what's to come. --Joshua Gunn

Amazon is great.. phone is great, just say away from AT&T
WARNING: AT&T representatives ("Dawn: R361" and "Max: N360") themselves said during my troubleshooting (as detailed below) that I should NOT have bought through Amazon, and that they have received a barrage of complaints from Amazon buyers! I still really like Amazon, but they're integration with AT&T is non existent. People should not have to wait 2-3 days for service after they receive the phone. Buy the same phone on Amazon, but a different carrier.

Nothing special
In my opinion the phone sucks. The camera is pretty decent quality not the best i might add, the menus are annoying and make every action you try and perform a prolonged task, and the voice dialing is non existant. The video recorder is definatly not worth the space on the phone because it is a puny 10 seconds long and has incredibly bad graphics to the point the thing your video taping is non recognizable. The signal is ok in most places with the gsm from at&t (for once) but everything else isn't worth the money. the only time this phone is worth it is from a one day sale off the at&t website.......hoped this help! ... Design
The V710's overall shape is similar in design to Motorola's high-end GSM phone, the V600. The V710 ups the ante in many areas, however. The internal 2.2-inch 176 x 220 screen sports more colors (262,000 vs. 65,000) than the V600. The full-color, 98 x 67 supplementary external display is another step-up feature from the V600. This screen displays incoming call information, picture caller ID, camera self portraits, signal strength, battery life, current time and more. The 1.2 Megapixels camera lens and LED flash is housed above this display. An extendable stub antenna is placed on the top right side of the phone. A TransFlash memory slot is located next to the antenna. A standard 2.5mm stereo headset jack is present, as is a combined charging/USB data port. Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's control pad.

Calling Features
The V710 boasts some powerful calling functions that make it a perfect part of a mobile office. The office-quality speakerphone makes it easy to converse without touching the handset-- a big plus for car users. Enhanced voice dialing supports voice-to-digit dialing and name recognition for speedy dialing of contacts. The V710s voice recognition software supports voice commands from any user, not just a pre-programmed user's voice. Because the V710 is Bluetooth enabled, wireless headsets can be configured with the phone for total handsfree operation.

Design
Design-wise, the 7100t is a departure from the form factor of previous BlackBerry models. This BlackBerry is far more phone-like, and RIM's engineers have managed to fit a QWERTY keyboard onto the handset's slim frame. Each button on the keypad shares two letters and the unit automatically determines which letter is the intended one based on what it predicts you are trying to spell. This unique predictive text technology, known as SureType, enables the 7100t's diminutive size. SureType also learns the words you use most often, further enhancing your typing speed.

The 7100t sports a large 240 x 260 pixels screen with 65,000 colors-- plenty of real estate to view your emails, web browser content, messaging sessions and attachments.
