Amazon.com Product Description

Need help tracking down an out-of-town business meeting or finding a museum during your out-of-state vacation? The Delphi NA10000 Mobile Navigation in-car GPS system is there to help. It features a large, bright TFT screen with full-color graphics, directional voice prompts, fast routing calculations enabled by a built-in Intel Xscale microprocessor, built-in memory for map data, and windshield- and dash-mounting solutions.

This extremely user-friendly unit provides several functions, including quickest route, shortest route, full automatic turn-by-turn directions synchronized with vehicle position, total distance to destination, and estimated time of arrival. You can search for addresses by name, street crossing, Zip Code, or center-of-town and offers memorization of favorite locations, shortcuts, and most recent locations.

The intuitive graphical user interface is powered by custom navigation software, which provides detailed street-level mapping for the 48 contiguous states and Hawaii, address-to-address routing, automatic rerouting when off-course and an extensive points-of-interest library. Large display icons and easy-to-read maps provide an operator-friendly interface for added safety while driving. The software is fully automatic and provides voice directions in addition to visual driving instructions.

The unit uses a double-disc map set of the United States (excluding Alaska), so that you can easily load your desired maps. The Delphi Mobile Navigation unit has 64 MB of internal memory available for storing maps, and it's compatible with optional Secure Digital (SD) and MultiMedia (MMC) memory cards for additional map storage (256 MB size or less).

What Is GPS?
The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a network of satellites launched by the U.S. military in the 1970s. The satellites continuously transmit accurate time and position information, which is freely used by commercial and military applications worldwide. GPS receivers, such as this Delphi unit, are designed to pick up the high-frequency radio signals from these satellites and use the information to help determine your exact location. Today, there are many applications that use GPS--from marine to automotive, aviation, and military.

There are 24 satellites in total, orbiting approximately 12,000 miles above the Earth. While a GPS receiver can detect signals from up to 12 satellites at any one time, only 3 are needed to provide the two-dimensional position (latitude and longitude), or "fix," that is required for vehicle and marine navigation systems. Aviation applications also need altitude, and therefore need information from at least four satellites.

Amazon.com Product Description

The 750M portable navigation system from Magellan provides 750NAV functionality without requiring a permanent installation. Compact, lightweight, and rugged, the 750M's portability and easy set up makes it ready for use in minutes--without the cost and inconvenience of installation. It's the ideal navigational tool for road warriors, frequent travelers, fleet and lease-car operators, recreational vehicle owners, and multi-vehicle families.

Smaller and lighter than many notebook computers at seven pounds, the 750M comes pre-assembled and self-contained in an attractive carrying case with a shoulder strap for easy transport. It includes free map coverage of the entire United States and Canada and features an off-road navigation option. The included power adapter, battery, and battery charger provide system power. Simply attach the Battery to the system, plug the system into the accessory power port, place the antenna on the roof, and you're on your way.

The intuitive 750M gives you visual and voice-prompted, turn-by-turn directions to any domestic location--at any time and in any vehicle. It combines map-matching, inertial navigation technology, and continuous free data from Global Positioning System satellites to provide extremely accurate guidance data. The unit's color display shows the driver's position on detailed maps of streets and highways. You can exclude routes with construction, traffic, or accidents, and you have the option of choosing the fastest or shortest route. If you take a wrong turn along the way, the 750M automatically recalculates your route from your current position. It powers on and off through ignition sensing.

Other features include the option to choose a male or female voice from seven languages, view routes in four formats, and store 100 frequent destinations. The 750M also shows services available at each highway exit and works off its database of more than 500,000 businesses, hotels, restaurants, shopping centers, government facilities, and business-related retailers.

Magellan also offers a mobility kit that converts the 750NAV to a portable system (includes all 750M components except the navigation computer and display; additional displays are available).

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best
Ok... first things first. You must know a few simple rules about this unit. Setup - very important and it takes just a few minutes. Once you follow the setup the rest is easy! It's like they say "if all else fails, read the instructions". Well, I promise you, if you set it up right, it works!

I first used this unit with Hertz. It takes a few minutes to get used to it, but it's a phenomenal product. Since that time, I purchased one for my daughter when she went off to college in the "big city". I don't have to worry about her going off to some unknown area of town. It allows you to pick locations by street, address, places of interest, etc., etc.
However, you have to READ the instructions. I was looking at some of the other "comments" written by other users... they obviously didn't read the screen. For instance... if you use the option to find a street - well obviously, you need to select the town! I mean, it tells you what to do, you just have to READ the screen. The first time I used it, i went from Dallas to Fort Worth and within that short distance went to at least 15 different locations, including resturants, hotels and airports. I never got lost. (at hertz they call it the Never lost system) If you do take a wrong turn or exit the Magellan AUTOMATICALLY re-positions itself and tells you how to get back on track. It changes the route to get you back to where you were going.

There are some other really great features..... such as "shortest time" ... this is great to get someplace in the shortest time. There are all sorts of options. Yes, there are times that a point of interest is not available, but it's pretty rare - at least from my experiences.

I have to admit, my daughter DIDN'T follow the instructions and didn't position the unit properly.... so, she got bad results the first few times. After her complaining i found out that she didn't read.... of course. Now that she has it set up properly, she says it's great and she hasn't gotten lost since.
Obviously, I'm a fan... but hey, don't take my word for it. Rent a Hertz car and try it out..... ok, that's a little extreme, but hey.... i knew what I was getting before I bought it.
Best electronic investment I have made this year - and believe me (I'm a gadget fanatic), I've made lots of purchases this year.

1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible!
Mine is on the way back to Amazon for a refund. Large stores that have been available around my area for 5 years are not included in the database. This includes a large Target and a super grocery store. Roads where I live changed 2.5 years ago, but the maps in the unit still don't reflect this. To top it off...my hometown, Columbus, MS, isn't even in the system! That's a town of about 50,000 people! Many, many state parks aren't listed, and no campgrounds are mentioned at all.

Just to see if it was all a fluke...I had a friend try to route to his family's house in Nampa, ID. The unit found Nampa, but not his family's street. It's a newer neighborhood true....but it's been around for 4-5 years. Not good performance at all.

If you're a full time RVer as we are...save your money. Exit information includes no phone numbers (so you can't call a service center for a tow even though they show up on the exit services screen). Gas stations have no info as to whether they sell diesel, propane, or have big rig parking. These needs may sound like niche requirements....by up to date maps and a robust cross referenced databases would solve them. Nothing fancy is required...just accuracy.

Until GPS manufacturers start to address the usablilty of their units in real world situations, I'm keeping my money in my pocket. So, my recommendation is, for the money, pass on this unit. The Garmin Street Pilot isn't much better, but at least it can find most state parks and has real exit service information. It's databases don't cross reference, so you'll have to run 3 types of searches to find out whether a service is really near the exits along your route....but it is quite a bit cheaper and much more mobile. For me....I'm still waiting....I've tried the Garmin unit also and find it not very useful for full time RVers either.

5-0 out of 5 stars Experienced User
Definitely recommended. You have to know the street address and the correct city/town name to get optimal results, but there is absolutley NO comparison between having this in the car and using maps or hand held units. You can not only use it to guide you, but to check the traveltime, distance, etc., when planning road trips. Unlike web based map services, when there is a recent change to conditions, routing, accessibility, etc., the unit instantly recalculates and provides revised and optional routing. I believe that this is a "must have". The newest software also offers travel services, including gas stations, restaurants, business services, points of interest, etc...like the cell phone and email, how did we ever get along before we had this?

3-0 out of 5 stars Buyer beware
My wife and I, recently, rented this unit (or, perhaps, another model, but of the same company) with a car from HERTZ. While being excited about "smartness" of the unit during our driving from Washington, D.C. to New Jersey, we were stunned later, when it guided us to a street we wanted to reach in Manhattan. Instead of Manhattan, it brought us to Staten Island to... a street of exactly the same name (Clinton). We were lucky that time of the day was early afternoon and we were able to finally to reach our destination at daylight, using, again, the device. However, at this time we specified intersection of the street we were looking for and of another street in the area. Also, the unit did not recognize one way streets.
The conclusion I would make, while using the device, be familiar, in general, with the area and carry a map, as well, just in case. :-)

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply The Best Portablr Navigation Money Can Buy
I live in Switzerland and keep going forward and backward to the USA doing business every time in a different place. I use to rent cars from Hertz with their Never Lost Navigation system which also is a Magellan 750 but not portable. It was okay for me except I had to rent Hertz every time, and sometimes I find better deals at other rent a car or even Price Line. So I looked for the portable unit at the time and found out that this system is the best comprehensive portable navigation available. This system is so easy to install in less than 2 minutes. Now it has West and East maps and it covers the entire USA on road and off road navigation. What makes this system so easy to use is it's huge database of all kind of point of interests from Airports, Restaurant, Tourist Attraction, Hospitals to Shopping Malls. You name it has it. It eliminates the need to enter addresses manually or look up the address for a hotel or a restaurant. You can also look up point of interests by their distance from your location, like the nearest restaurant from where you are.

I love this system because you do not need to change CD's for different states like other units. All the info is stored on a large hard drive for easy access. Simply take it with you from one city to the other and from one car to the other.

The only advantage DVD navigation has over the Magellan 750M is it's a bit faster in calculating routes, and until now I am not a ware of any company that makes DVD portable navigation systems.

Finally, I know this unit is expensive but it is worth every dollar you pay for it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Truly amazing package!Try it for yourself
I have just used the product for 14 days.I can not describe how happy I am with the performance of this tiny little gadget.First of all, for all those people complaining about bluetooth or wi-fi connectivity, I think this pocket PC is more focused on being a GPS/Navigation system and all the additional stuff should be considered a bonus.Hands down, pricewise this is one of the top navigational systems out there. My brother bought the Microsoft Streets and Trips USB add-on which he attaches to his laptop, and I bought this Garmin unit.Trust me, this GPS is 10 times better, its all in one package, comes with EVERYTHING you would need to get set and get going.

Highlights:
-Points of interests: finds atms, movie theatres, restaurants (really really handy when you're out with family and need to drive to another restaurant)
-Integrated: comes with everything you need to be mobile; dashboard kit, windshield mount, desktop charger, etc
-great software: the MapSource is excellent.
-great design, good price compared to its GPS competition.
-voice prompts work great when you are driving and its a loud clear speaker voice telling you exactly where to turn.If you miss a turn, it automatically recalculates and tell you where to turn next.basically, its really really hard to get lost if you have this thing. This product will save you money and time if you are driving in inner-cities and have a hard time with directions (so true for me driving around NYC metro area especially long island)

If we were to compare it within the GPS/Navigation category, this product takes the hat, no doubt about it.Compared to the $700 magellan unit, this is slicker, easier to set up AND did i forget to mention its a full fledged pocket PC with MS Windows Mobile Edition OS.

Cons:
only comes with 64 mb of storage.Which isn't bad, and it will load up maps of almost an entire state.I live in Queens, and I'm able to load up NYC and half of long island for about 20 megs.So i guess its not really a con.

If you need an excellent GPS system, this is it.Just think of the pocket PC functions as a free additional bonus.

i have never written a review in my life but after using this product, I was so satisfied that I told all my friends to get it instead of getting a $2k navigational system installed and now i'm writing a review to tell others what they MUST try for themselves.

4-0 out of 5 stars First impression - mixed results
Setup was easy, I got the 1 gig SD card and loaded half the US, and still have 400 meg available for mp3, jpeg, other files. This is my first GPS, first PDA, and I've had it a week, so this is a preliminary review:

Pros:
pocket size
accessories all included
can see screen easily in daylight
PDA processor is fast
Voice recorder is cool
jacks for external antenna and speaker

Cons:
Long time to acquire satellites
Lost satellites several times
Manual is just ok
HAVE to buy the SD card ($100)

The speaker on the unit is not loud enough for navigation if there is any background noise, but the speaker on the power adapter is plenty good, plus there's an output jack for external speaker if needed.

I have a Toyota Tacoma truck, and lose signal a lot - may need the external antenna. If I put the unit all the way forward on the dash it acquires satellites in a minute, but on the windshield mount it can take 10 minutes. It also seems to take longer if the car is moving, so I just wait a minute before taking off.

The manual was aggravating - it comes with a quick setup guide that was easy and accurate, and an application guide for the navigator software, but the general instruction manual is on CD only - no paper copy!I had to print the 88-page pdf.

The unit froze once - had to reset, so I was glad to read the other reviews about the updates available from Garmin.

Screen resolution is half what other PDA's are, and I was concerned about that, but I really can't tell any difference - pictures look great, videos too, and the maps look like Magellan or any other.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great product!Almost a home run, but not quite...
I have had about a week to use the M5. My first impression is WOW.This IS my first GPS and also my first PDA, so take my review for what it's worth.I would love to give this product 5 stars, but I will get right to the point of why I can't do it.

CONS :
No 802.11b/g - Not a huge deal if you don't mind plugging a bluetooth USB adapter in your PC, but honestly it is a little annoying that I can't connect right up to my 802.11g network out of the box. There are SD/MMC 802.11b cards available that are a option, but I have not ordered one yet.

GPS non-responsive - (see *Edit* at bottom of this review) As one other reviewer also noted, I also had a GPS problem where it acted like it was looking for the satellites, but couldn't see any of them. This was outside, and not indoors.I pushed the reset button, and GPS fired up just fine.As with the other reviewer, I also haven't had this problem reoccur after about a week of using it.The initial problem was about an hour after I took it out of the box. Since then I have used it a good 20+ times without any problems.I will report back if this problem comes back!

The leather flip case(?) - It is a little lame, and offers no protection except for maybe screen...and even that's a stretch.

PROS -
Wow, I opened the box, and it was very complete. A nice windshield suction mount, cig adapter with speaker and the other 'standard' PDA items (cradle, USB cable, travel A/C adapter, etc).

It's a nice size, not to bulky. The battery seems to perform as expected.I don't have any exact #'s, but from what I could tell it was at least 4 hours with some GPS usage.

One thing I would like to comment on is the 'cost'.A lot of reviews elsewhere talked about how expensive this device is.Yes, it's not cheap, but try buying a comparable PDA and a GPS add-on. You'll be close to, if not higher than what you would pay for this fully integrated PDA/GPS.

I have taken one trip (74 miles each way).It did a pretty good job getting me to the destination.I did notice that it was a little slow to recalculate the route if you miss a turn (5-10 seconds on average). Not a huge deal, but could be a problem in inner-city driving. It also did a random "Make U-Turn" in the intersection I was turning at. I believe the intersection came up later than the GPS/mapping software was expecting. The estimated time of arrival is nice, and right on target!

GPS performance : The GPS picks up the satellites fine in my car.My house (2 story) it's fine on the second floor, but the first floor it does not pick up the satellites unless I move over to a window.

Storage - I don't own a memory card yet, but even with the built-in memory I was able to get most of middle-TN and North Atlanta.I hear a 2GB memory card will hold all of the US, and 1GB will hold over half the US.I would say that is about right.

That's about all I can think of at this time. I will report back in a few weeks with an update. At this point I am very pleased.

Edit 4/28/05 - I did have one additional lockup of the unit that required a 'reset', so I went to the Garmin website and found out that there was a new firmware revision. I loaded the firmware and so far the unit seems to be performing perfectly. So, for those who are having GPS lockup problems, download the firmware revision.Garmin states that the firmware fixes several lockup issues.

5-0 out of 5 stars A killer product
The Garmin ique m5 pocketpc/gps is a gadget lover's dream come
true. The price of a decent pocket pc from dell or hp would
easily run to $500. For $100 more than the price of a standard
pocket pc you get a WAAS enabled gps with bluetooth support.

The bundled software includes garmin map software for entire
united states and Microsoft outlook 2002.
Setup was easy. I was able to install the Map source software
without any problems. Garmin provides a usb based sync cable and
cradle. Since i own a Garmin GPSMap 60CS the user interface was
comfortable.

The automount is a second cradle which mounts on the windshield
via a suction cup. The suction cup mechanism was very sturdy and
stayed on for months without coming off. I did not find any problems with the mount unlike one previous reviewer.

Driving directions are provided via an external speaker
attached to the car charger. Sound was loud and clear.
The m5 has a built in speaker which has decent drive.
The battery looks to be of a replacable type. The device
comes with one slot for SD card. Onboard memory is around 60MB.
For $100 you could adda 1GB SD card and have the entire US maps loaded.

The map visibility depends a lot on the make of your car andthe angle of the windshield mount.
The map was clearly visible during daytime and nighttime.
I drive an Acura. The screen realestate is bigger than the Quest product. Outlook adresses, notes etc can be synched easily.

Entering addresses was a breeze using the stylus. The maps and
routing worked fine 98% of the time. Once in a while i had lost
satellite reception and had to reset the device. I think most of
these problems will be patched when Garmin comes out with a software update.

Couple of caveats...

The User interface is functional but lack friendliness.
Lots of concepts...like POI, Address, Locations which confuse the
user. This sofware needs to be reviewed by some usability
experts. Garmin folks ...are you listening...take a look at
IPod, google maps etc... complicated software but simpler interface.

The map sofware takes up 3GB on my HD. Think this is due to
incompatible map formats with other garmin products (60CS).
May not be a problem if you do not own other garmin products.

Pricing: This device needs to be priced under $500

2-0 out of 5 stars Buy if you want to be on the bleeding edge
I like garmin products.Seems support for this one is a bit dicey.

Pro's - It's a garmin. Most of their products are great, and their mapping software is good.

Con's - Bluetooth.Doesn't appear it works with much.Garmin tech support admits it doesn't work with any keyboard or headset. They don't admit to what it DOES work with.Seems they are relying on users to discover that.Documentation can be a bit sketchy too.Again, relying on users to find and report the bugs.If want to pay a lot for bleeding edge technology, this is it. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Navman GPS 4460 - Good Product, Bad Installation
I have a Palm Tungsten T2, and bought the Navman GPS 4460 to provide GPS capability for the occasional road trip and/or business trip. I had also considered the Delorme Earthmate, but decided against it based on some feedback on the web regarding the accuracy of the maps and lack of voice guidance. The one review I did find on the relatively new GPS 4460 convinced me that this was worth investigating.

The GPS 4460 comes with the GPS receiver unit, a couple of mounting brackets for the receiver and the Palm PDA, a memory card reader, a 12V car adapter for the receiver unit, 3 AAA size batteries, and 4 CDs of software/maps. The receiver unit fits nicely into its associated mount, which can then be easily attached to the inside of your rear window. This assembly is held in place to the window by a suction cup. The PDA can then ride up front with the driver in it's own cradle (usually plugged into a cigarette lighter socket).

The software for the PDA is excellent, as are the maps (as far as I've tested them, that is). Entering destinations is easy once the maps are loaded onto the SD/MMC card (which you must have and is not included in the kit). The voice guidance is clear, if a bit confused at times (i.e. it can ask you to bear left and make a right turn, even though the visual map indicates that you should keep going straight). The best work round for this, as always, is the judicious use of common sense. The visual cues (when you can safely look at the display while driving) are also excellent. As a PDA is used as the output/display, screen contrast, brightness and audio volume are are limited by the PDA you have on hand. So far the T2 has performed acceptably except in bright sun light (when the display becomes nearly unreadable).

Now for my MAJOR peeves with the system - the installation software and instructions are UNFORGIVABLY bad. First, you need to purchase a SD/MMC card for map storage etc - this is not provided in the kit. Second, installing the desktop software crashed my computer (because it tried to it's own drivers for an existing card reader I had in place - something I had to go back and fix). Third, when I tried to activate the software (and followed instructions on the screen and quick start guide), it was in no way clear that THE SD/MMC CARD SHOULD BE IN THE CARD READER AND NOT IN THE PALM. What activation does (I'm surmising from experience) is to install the license key onto the SD/MMC card. Once that is done, the software on the PDA will work (because it sees the key when the SD/MMC card is in the PDA) and the Map transfer software will work (because it also sees the key when the SD/MMC card is in the card reader). Fourth, I got memory errors on the PDA when I first tried to run the software (which were fixed with a soft reset, but none of this was clearly mentioned as a remote possibility).

So in closing - the unit is working great now that I have it running. Getting it up and running was a problem as noted above. Some better/clearer documentation on the installation front would have been nice. Had it not been for the lousy install, I'd have rated this as a 5 star product. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
This is the navigation system that Hertz car rentals uses. I rented one of their cars equipped with the system in the summer when I was visiting family in Canada for a week and it made my trip so simple. I had no idea where I was going, but I typed the address into the quick spell address feature, and I was off. The voice told me when my turn was coming with incredible accuracy, and if I missed any turns my route was re-routed instantly and I was told where to go from there. I never had to look at the screen. It even told me where there were rest stops and places to stay. At one point I was in the middle of nowhere, dirt roads and all, and the system still new exactly where I was and when I should turn. I was never lost once my entire trip, and that's quite a feat for me since I get lost everywhere I go. I have never seen such an amazing GPS system and I could never purchase anything else now that I've used the best. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Magellan's GPS 315 doesn't have a lot of advanced features, but it does provide positional and directional readings accurate enough to help you find your way back to base camp when you're out in the woods. This portable global positioning system is one of the most compact we've ever tested, and it features a crisp display for the pages of information it throws at users.

The GPS 315 is designed more for outdoor use than car navigation and doesn't display road maps. It does have a database of over 15,000 cities and the capability to accept up to 500 user-defined waypoints, so it still works fairly well for giving you bearings to the next town or point of interest. We used the tracking features extensively, which let us leave a "bread crumb" trail as we traveled. This was especially helpful when we were backtracking along the same route, as we were able to easily compare our current position with the trail on the display.

The display has two levels of backlighting, a feature that drains the unit's two AA batteries at a frightening rate. However, without the backlight on, we got more than 12 hours of use from the unit.

The GPS 315 uses simple controls that let users page through its numerous data screens. As long as we were moving the compass, the screens worked well; we especially liked the graphical compass that pointed out our current direction of travel and the bearing to a waypoint at the same time. The device can also serve as a full-fledged trip computer, measuring distance, average speed, and providing an estimated time of arrival. Perhaps the best thing about the GPS 315 is that all the data screens are fully customizable, letting users create their own data pages containing only the data they want to see.

Although Magellan doesn't include a lot of goodies in the box, the GPS 315 has many optional accessories that increase its capabilities. For example, you can get a PC cable to upload topographical and street map data. Without all the extras the GPS 315 is better suited for hikers and boaters than highway travelers, but it's an accurate and inexpensive way to keep your bearings. --T. Byrl Baker

4-0 out of 5 stars Great GPS for outdoor activities.
Well, I have had my GPS 315 for about 2 weeks now, I have put about 30 hours on it, and I have really enjoyed it. It was very easy to use, I was up and running with it two minutes after I had it out of the box. The manual that is included makes it very easy to learn to use all of the features, and also explains how to use the more complicated features of the GPS.

There are several things that make this GPS very handy. the 12-channel receiver is great for getting a very accurate reading when you are in a vehicle, or under dense tree cover. There are 9 navigation screens that are quite useful, but, I find myself using the position, compass, and plot screens most.

There are two things that would make this GPS perfect. The first would be waterproofing. It would be nice if you could take it out in the boat, and not have to worry if it slipped out or your hand, or got soaked by a large wave. The other thing that would be nice, is a built in electronic compass; but you can carry a compass along easily enough.

All in all, a great GPS for a hike through the woods, or a ride in the boat. This will give you piece of mind next time you go hiking down that unknown trail, or paddling down that long winding river. Great GPS packed full of features for the money.

4-0 out of 5 stars a must have toy
Having spent 2 hours with the Magellan 315 on a camping weekend in Arizona's mountains, I can say that the unit is all that's advertised. The manual is cryptic, but once you get used to the customizing menus and 9 available navigation screens, the rest is pretty intuitive. I was able to create a waypoint, walk half a mile away in the woods and return to within 20 feet. It works surprisingly well even in a rather heavy forest. It was showing an estimated RMS positional error of only 6 feet at one point! Routes are given in 1. foot increments when you are within .1 miles of your waypoint (with the updated software you can download from the Magellan website)! As long as you keep moving, the compass feature is quite good. It even displays the sun and moon locations versus the compass dial.

Nice screen, plenty of options and quite accurate. When used in your car, it tracks your speed to .1 mph, with updates given each second. If you are a hiker or hunter or fisherman or gizmo lover, this is a nice addition. I suspect on an open lake, this would be super for locating favorite fishing spots.

1-0 out of 5 stars Does not hold up
After about six months of use it started using batteries even though it was turned off. A few months later it quit working completely. I sent it in to be repaired under warranty. They sent me a new one along with a power cable. It worked fine for about four months (it only had a 90 day warranty), before it did the same thing. I turn it on now and the whole screen goes black. It worked very well and I liked the GPS and functioanlity, when it worked. I am now stuck with a non-working GPS and the accessories that I won't be able to use with the Garmin I plan on buying. Everyone I have talked to told me I should have bought a Garmin as they are the best.

3-0 out of 5 stars not bad, but maps are better
Liked the reception of this vs. the Garmin unit I had previously. But soon learned that maps are the way to go. I upgraded to a Map330 soon after trying the 315.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great device
This is my first GPS unit and I could not be more pleased. It is simple to use and easy to carry. I have used it to mark Civil War battle sites and to find bench marks. It takes me right to the bench marks. If you are looking for a good unit, the 315 is the one you are looking for. ... Read more
