3-0 out of 5 stars Good value, but poor picture quality
I own the Dlink DCS-1000W and the Panasonic Network Camera, and under similar light conditions, the picture quality of the DLink blows the Panasonic away. The picture is very grainy on the Panasonic to the point where it is difficult to make out faces. The tilt/pan is cool, and if you don't care about the quality, then the Panasonic is a good buy. Otherwise, go with the Dlink.

Buyer beware... Dlink has some firmware problems that results in bi-weekly reboots.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good value and YES it works
Took me a while to assign the right port that made my home and office networks happy, but that's not a Panasonic issue. Overall, the entire process is very smooth and easy.

Works reliably and the interface is easy. Tilts and pans enough if you place it in a corner. High is better as it tilts down much more than up.

I wish it had better color and a zoom but for the price this is a bargain. Panasonic even provides FREE dynamic IP tracking so you can always find your camera.

2-0 out of 5 stars Very cool idea, implementation needs work & documentation
I got my netcam a few days ago.
Good packaging, easy to set up, nice idea.
First, the picture is not very good, and the color is off.
I did not get any documentation, specifically, I would
like to know how to interface to this camera ... what are
the switches that can be used on the URL to manipulate the
    camera?
When you view the camera there is a top page for selecting
which type of interface you want, an updating picture, or
streaming type format. This is cool, and being able to

move the "eyeball" so to speak, is way cool, and in fact
    the reason I got it.
The mounting is rather limited, and I would have liked
some mount that can be secured. With the existing mount
someone coming by could just steal the camera.
The important thing for me is to be able to store the
images, otherwise you do not know what happened during the
day. There is an archive mode, but it is very small, so
some interfacing to another "server" is needed, and the
    documentations is not there.
It would be nice to be able to program the "eyeball" to scan
the view, and record it automatically, or to follow motion.
All in all, what does one expect for $250.00.
I would want to be able to just link to the camera URL
and put the image in a web page, but I cannot figure out
how to do that except for uploading the page somewhere ...
it would be better, easier and faster to link to the image
and have the server change it, or update it for you.
Panasonic gets credit here for a really nice product out
there first. Their other network cameras are even nicer,
but the universal swiveling, and zooming camera is still
over $1000.00 at this point. I am waiting for the price
to come down on that one.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Network Camera
The Panasonic Network camera can be used with a DSL or cable internet connection. Subscription to Panasonic's viewnetcam service is now free so it is even a better value. ... Read more

    Product Description

Get a pest deterrent and burglar alarm in one! The YardContro electronic yard fence helps keep outdoor spaces free from unwanted pests or trespassers by creating an undetectable, 360° radar zone covering an approximately 30 ft. (700 sq. ft.) area. When the built-in motion sensor detects an intrusion, it responds by emitting a high-frequency 120dB sound blast and flashing a powerful strobe light. A selector switch lets you choose how it responds. To fend off dogs, cats and other wild animals, use the ultrasonic mode, which emits an alarm that's bothersome to animals, but inaudible to humans. To scare away human trespassers or would-be thieves, use the standard mode that everyone can hear. The YardContro features weatherproof design for indoor or outdoor use, even in wet weather. Runs on 4 "D" batteries for up to 2,000 10-second sound releases (batteries sold separately). Includes brackets for easy mounting to walls, fences, trees or posts. 5-0 out of 5 stars It works for me.
This is the first time I've ever felt compelled to write a review for a product. The reason for my review of this product is because, quite simply, it works for me, and it would seem that, based on most of the other reviews here, it needs a vote of confidence.
During the Spring and Summer months I used to have a problem with raccoons climbing up onto my wood deck and then defecating in the corners. There would be a new pile at least two or three times a week. Quite a smelly mess to have to clean up all the time, not to mention the stains left in the wood. After getting the Lentek YC12G all I did was mount it on the deck near the stairs and turn it on. It's been nearly 3 months and not one sign of raccoon activity on my deck. I even adjusted the alarm volume to a barely audible level and still no raccoons.
I bought the Lentek YC12G, despite the negative reviews I read here. I knew it would be a gamble but I was desperate to find a solution. I'm just glad I gave it a try because the gamble paid off.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Alarm System - Poor pest repellent.
We purchased this to keep dogs away. It did not do it. I did use it too chase away a rabbit building a nest in our ornamental grass, it worked very well.

But, we use it as an alarm. It works fantasticly. We use it indoors to let us know if someone is in the house while we are sleeping. It is much cheaper than any human alarm system I could buy and lets me sleep much better at night knowing I would get advance notice before anyone gets to where we sleep.

Also, we have a toddler, who may want to wander, it also informs us when he is trying to go wandering before he gets very far.

Anytime you want to know if something or someone is coming, it is ideal.

I would not rate it highly for its stated purpose though. It makes audible sound even on the animal settings.

But, it does make a darn good alarm!

    1-0 out of 5 stars doesn't work
we had a barking dog problem. The neighbor tried all sorts of creative and useless ways to stop it, one of which was this. It kept the dog quite for maybe 20 to 30 seconds then he quickly figured out it was just more background noise and completely ignored it. Perhaps we should have just used it as a club?

1-0 out of 5 stars BAD SERVICE
After few hours the strobe light quit working. We sent Yard Contro back to Lentex Dec 2002.We have tried at least 20 times to find out what is going on we have been told we sent you a new unit 3 times and never received it. We were told we will send your money back twice. We have been told they are out of stock. Now their phone service is not working. Save your money and alot of frustration and buy something else. 7/22/03 still have not received a new unit or our money back. We are still calling as of this date. We call aleast once a week. Their phone service is out of order.

1-0 out of 5 stars Pure Junk, buy the Weitech instead.
I have been sucessfully using the Weitech Yard protector continuously for two years. But I keep the frequency set for cats only. Any other frequency may irritate the neighborhood dogs.
Unfortunately, a band of racoons recently began to terrorize my pond at night. So I decided to add a second motion sensitive pest repeller.I had hoped the Lentek yard control would compliment the Weitech.BUT, the Lentek is a piece of junk right out of the box.The motion sensor immediately activates and never turns off.It would not be so bad if the strobe light was not constantly flashing.I plan on trashing the Lentek and buying another Weitech. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Now I get a good nights sleep
With 2 teenage boys who use the garage door as the main entry in the house, I now know when they get home and that the door was closed behind them. Great product, easy to install.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
This item is not dependable. I needed a device that worked as this one is described however after numerous false readings over 2 days it became clear that this item is not effective. Save you money and manually check to see if the door is open, this item is sure to disappoint.

1-0 out of 5 stars Quality Control Problems
Seems like a simple enough device, but the unit shipped to me simply does not work. I played with it for a half hour going thoroughly through the instruction manual, checking the battery voltages, etc, but the transmitter would never register with the receiver. Oh well, buyer beware.

5-0 out of 5 stars never leave a garage door open by mistake again
This product works great, very easy to install, just apply the adhesive backed sensor on your door, then plug the wall unit in your kitchen or some other room.

I bought two sets but had some problems synchronizing each door to the right receiver. Hmm. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Installation nightmare
I installed NAS with windows XP and it would not work.
After several e-mails and phone calls to their support desk in India they had me delete all my Norton programs (pc anywhere and Norton Antivirus) and run some patches and delete files and delete items in regedit.
Now I get a 3 different errors when I start my computer, I can't do microsoft windows updates and Antivirus and antispam do not work. The support is very slow to respond and don't seem to know what they are doing.
I will probably have to reformat my machine and start again

1-0 out of 5 stars A waste of money, time and energy; crazy-making
Worked fine initially. Then it deteriorated. Took forever to enter a posting into Norton Antispam (to designate it as spam). Then inexplicably my e-mail on Outlook Express6 got very buggy. Finally, I started getting duplicates, triplicates and quadruplicates of the same spam with minor variations, endlessly; and Norton Antispam began precedingthe sender information in every incoming e-mail, including my professional listserv e-mails, with "[Norton Antispam]" (as shown here, in brackets). This resulted in my needing to delete the "[Norton Antispam"] when I replied to an e-mail posting. At one point I noticed that my listserv postings (professional group communications) hadvery sharply diminished in number. Ultimately, I found that Norton Antispam had-- apparently for my convenience-- segregated these into theNorton Antispam folder. There I found some 2,000 e-mails, all with "[Norton Antispam"] preceding the senders' addresses. Many of these were my professional listserv messages; others were the usual obnoxious scams and spams for which one purchasesantispam software; however, when I tried to click on the button that tells Norton Antispam that "this is spam," I found it to be greyed out, and NONE OF THE MESSAGES COULD NOWBE DESIGNATED AS SPAM, apparently because they now had been funneled to me THROUGH Norton Antispam, like a gift. (I was, however, given the option to click on the button to indicate that "this is NOT spam.")

The wrestling with bugs in my system went on for hours and days, beginning with my internet service provider, going to Microsoft (where, for a fee, they helped somewhat), and continuing with Norton. Norton's customer support was execrable. On the final day of my efforts to get help, at one point I was on the phone for more than an hour, on hold. Support staff seemed befuddled, clueless, and ready to repeat what another support person had done that was useless, despite my protests. I was prepared to pay the nearly $30 they asked for their "help," but balked when the last technician was ready to charge me an additional nearly $70 because, supposedly, a virus had gotten into my e-mail. I wasn't convinced; very recently Norton Antivirus had scanned my computer and found no viruses. I had to ask to speak to a supervisor because she refused to take "no" for an answer to this billing. Norton's other products have so far worked well for me, incidentally.

Finally, I disabled the Norton Antispam and deleted all messages with the "[Norton Antispam]" imprimatur. This has apparently solved problems for now, and I just "block sender" on the spam.

1-0 out of 5 stars Slow and Not Very Effective
It takes far too long for the program to block an email that you just received. It is not that accurate. I would not use it if if was free.

1-0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable That They Even Ship It
I can't even believe Symantec would ship this in the condition it is in. Further, if it is so important to them to have some kind of antispam software in their suite, I can't believe they haven't put lots of resources into fixing it via their live update feature.

    Summary of the problems:
It doesn't work... It's not catching spam.

When you select a spam e-mail that it missed and tell it "this is spam" to train it, it is horribly slow... It just took an hour to process the 300 spams I received over the weekend.. This is on a 2.2 GHz machine, and task manager shows that CPU is the bottleneck... 100% CPU utilization for about an hour.

It is not correctly integrated with Outlook. Whenever it processes a message, it triggers Outlook to think it is a virus accessing your address list. The best you can do is to tell Outlook to let it have access for 10 minutes at a time. In other words, if you get more than about 30 spam messages, you actually have to wait around and do a three step process every 10 minutes to get it to keep processing!
NOTE: SpamBully and other products do not do this, so this is NOT an Outlook problem. It is a problem with the way that Norton Antispam talks to Outlook.

In short, a horribly flawed product that should not be shipping until these issues are fixed.

1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT Buy This Crappy Software!!
There is a huge bug in this software and it will not work with Outlook. The Anti-Spam toolbar causes Outlook to shut down and an error message pops up.This happens every time you start Outlook for the first time of the day with a new user. The folks at Symantec have known about the bug for well over a year but refuse to fix it.They blame Outlook, but they are the ones who designed this software to (not) work with Outlook. This company obviously does not care about its customers and their problems.Next time I will buy McAfee or something and stay far away from this company. ...
