I have had 2 of these fans in my son's room for more than a year. He has a stuffy room with no cross ventilation and these fans help quite a bit. I am sure I could make do with just one of them, but having to two on opposite sides of his room makes sleeping more comfortable.

The house has air conditioning but some of the rooms arent as cool as others or are just stuffy. A fan really helps cool off the room and move the AC around the house more efficiently. On days that are not quite warm enough to turn on the AC these fans really make sleeping bearable.

I have them set at opposite sides of the room but I keep meaning to wall mount them. An excellent feature! There is some fan noise but truthfully, it drowns out noise coming from outside his room and I think the *white-noise* quality of it helps him sleep. The loudness of the noise is based on the fan setting.

For the price...this is a great fan. And the size is perffect for small rooms. Add that you can wall mount it and you have an excellent product.

Like other reviews, it is just too loud
It does what it is supposed to do - push air... and this it does quite well. Unfortunately, I bought this fan to use at work and the noise is just way too much. At three feet away and pointing away from me, clients on the phone asked me if I was in some sort of tunnel. The noise prevents this fan from being desirable. Like other reviewers mentioned, it would work great if used as combination fan / sound machine.

It does circulate a lot of air and keep me cool.I like this feature. But it sounds like a jet engine,just matches its name--blizzard.I dare not set it on high or even medium,because I am afraid of waking up my roommate adjoining.

Fantastic
I bought the latest model, which has a thermostat in it's base. It has an electronic, single push-button thermostat that can be set at 60, 65, 70, 75, or 80 room temp. Has green lights under each temp setting, and red lights for high and low. Thermostat is very accurate! You can use low speed with thermostat, high speed with thermostat, or just low and high speed always on. This fan is small, un-obtrusive, and has oscillation and tilt. I have used this fan for 2 nights now, and it's great for the bedroom. You select your temp, set it on low, and forget it. If your room falls below temp selected, it turns off. If it warms up again, it comes back on! Moves lots of air on low! High speed is not for sleeping! Quite a bit of wind sound on high. Low speed will cool a 14' x 16' living room. Fan is quiet on low speed.

Clean, simple design. Functional and efficient.
Like many other air filters, this features a squirrel cage blower to decrease noise. Five speed fan. Top exhaust. Easy to clean inlet louvers (the whole front panel removes quickly and easily for washing and the louvers are spaced apart so you can get in there with your hand). The large HEPA filter has a washable and cheap to replace pre-filter. The filtration path is excellent and sealed to prevent bypass flow.

The only downside is the noise (all of these air cleaners are loud, in my opinion because they all are made of lightweight materials) and the cost of filter replacement. The HEPA filter is about [price] to replace and, although that is ridiculously expensive, all the air cleaners are that much.

Vornado seems to make excellent products and they certainly didn't rush to market with this one. They took the time to design it right.

Quiet and powerful
I really like the AQS35. I've only owned one other air filter system, and compared to it, this one is super quiet, and it looks much nicer sitting in the corner. It really blends in, since you can place it right up against a wall. My only problem with it was right out of the box. The 'squirrel cage' fan was warped, and would scrap against the unit. I took the back off and readjusted it, and now it is whisper quiet. It comes with one HEPA filter (lasts 2-4 years), and three prefilters (one in the unit and two spares). These are changed every 3 months.

Big mistake, wish I never bought it
To be fair, the first week I used it, it was wonderful. Within an hour of turning it on it took all the cigarette odor out of the room and I could smell the air refresheners again. But after that it just went downhill fast.

This Vornado air purifier arrived on mid to late September, and by the end of October it was time for a new Hepa Replacement Filter..., and a new pack of carbon filters...After only 6 weeks???

The room that this Vornado system is in is 10x9, hardly a large room, but within 6 weeks of buying this unit the filters need to be replaced.

And by the way...it is LOUD!
I have to turn it completely off when I'm on the phone, or I can't hear the conversation.
The medium setting is so loud it gives me a headache.

My roommate owns another air purifier and he makes comments about what a bad purchase my Vornado was because his is quiet and really purifies the air. He smokes three packs a day and you'd never know it with his filter.

One last thing...if you look at the Vornado replacement filters, both the hepa and the carbon, you'll notice theyre usually 1-2 weeks before they ship. Keep that in mind and order very early, as I've been waiting 3 week now and still haven't gotten my filters. And except for amazon I can't find anyone else who sells them. Not even on the manufacturers website.

great product
i've been a heavy smoker and my room stinks to a point that even myself can't stand the smell anymore. consider i already have a vornado fan and heater, and both work really well, so when i think of a air cleaner, the first brand i think about is this one. i totally love it and it works fantastic for me, just one nite use and my room already smell much cleaner and i can tell the air is much freasher. it might be a bit noisey for certain people, but to me the noise is very acceptable except the highest setting, i have no problem sleeping when the machine is on all nite at setting "3". i'm so glad to have it and feel sorry for those people didn't like it.

Wait ... I'm not sniffly any more!
I bought this HEPA filter after reading other positive reviews about it. I had previously tried a Honeywell filter but found it too big and loud.

This filter is still pretty big. (It's much bigger than it looked -- to me -- in the picture on Amazon.) But it's lightweight, easy to move, and can be pushed up against a wall without compromising function.

INITIALLY, I was disappointed with the filter. Most of the reviews I'd read made it sound like a miracle had occurred the morning after they plugged the filter in. I woke up the morning after having used the product's "Quick Clean" feature and running it all night, and I didn't find that my whole world had changed. It wasn't until a few weeks later that I suddenly realized that I had quit sniffling all the time and so had my two roommates (who are allergic to my cat). So in my case, the relief was more gradual than for others, but in the end, the thing WORKS.

About the noise level: I leave the filter running all the time on either the first or second settings (out of five). On these settings, it's more quiet than my fan, and while I can still hear it, it's pleasant white noise. The fifth setting -- "Quick Clean" -- is intended for short and powerful cleaning and is pretty loud. Fortunately, I've only had to use it twice. (Once for the initial cleaning and once when my roommate cooked some fish that stunk up the whole apartment.)

I recommend this filter, but keep in mind that the improvement in your air quality may not be drastic immediately. Be patient and give it some time to work. I guess (fortunately!) my allergies just weren't as bad as others. ... Read more

This is one of the best products ever invented. An absolute necessity for someone who has a second home. Great features allow you to check the temperature of your home at any time. It even calls up to three emergency numbers when something is wrong. A small price to pay for never having to worry about your investment. I couldn't imagine not owning one.

Peace of mind
This little device is great and a bargain at $180. It works like a charm and gives me the peace of mind that my weekend house is safe and sound. Since my house has electric heat, the power outage feature is a huge plus. I have it set to send a warning call if the power is off for an hour, as brief interruptions are not important. I also like the ability to call and check the status and house temp, works well with my answering machine as promised.

If you worry about your place while you are away, this is most definitely the route to go. You won't be sorry!

Great product
Great Product! I had heard of similar products but most require monitoring fees or are more complex. The FreezeAlarm was not only simple to use but it payed for itself immediately when it called our home in Florida due to a furnace outage in our Minnesota home. My wife also really likes the fact that we can call our home and check the temp and power anytime.

Good value, but poor picture quality
I own the Dlink DCS-1000W and the Panasonic Network Camera, and under similar light conditions, the picture quality of the DLink blows the Panasonic away. The picture is very grainy on the Panasonic to the point where it is difficult to make out faces. The tilt/pan is cool, and if you don't care about the quality, then the Panasonic is a good buy. Otherwise, go with the Dlink.

Buyer beware... Dlink has some firmware problems that results in bi-weekly reboots.

Good value and YES it works
Took me a while to assign the right port that made my home and office networks happy, but that's not a Panasonic issue. Overall, the entire process is very smooth and easy.

Works reliably and the interface is easy. Tilts and pans enough if you place it in a corner. High is better as it tilts down much more than up.

I wish it had better color and a zoom but for the price this is a bargain. Panasonic even provides FREE dynamic IP tracking so you can always find your camera.

Very cool idea, implementation needs work & documentation
I got my netcam a few days ago.
Good packaging, easy to set up, nice idea.
First, the picture is not very good, and the color is off.
I did not get any documentation, specifically, I would
like to know how to interface to this camera ... what are
the switches that can be used on the URL to manipulate the
camera?
When you view the camera there is a top page for selecting
which type of interface you want, an updating picture, or
streaming type format. This is cool, and being able to

move the "eyeball" so to speak, is way cool, and in fact
the reason I got it.
The mounting is rather limited, and I would have liked
some mount that can be secured. With the existing mount
someone coming by could just steal the camera.
The important thing for me is to be able to store the
images, otherwise you do not know what happened during the
day. There is an archive mode, but it is very small, so
some interfacing to another "server" is needed, and the
documentations is not there.
It would be nice to be able to program the "eyeball" to scan
the view, and record it automatically, or to follow motion.
All in all, what does one expect for $250.00.
I would want to be able to just link to the camera URL
and put the image in a web page, but I cannot figure out
how to do that except for uploading the page somewhere ...
it would be better, easier and faster to link to the image
and have the server change it, or update it for you.
Panasonic gets credit here for a really nice product out
there first. Their other network cameras are even nicer,
but the universal swiveling, and zooming camera is still
over $1000.00 at this point. I am waiting for the price
to come down on that one.

Honeywell is bad news.
I purchased the Honeywell warm-mist humidifier in December 2004.The machine died after 20 days.We only ran it at night and it worked fine until it died.The warranty is for five years.However, it costs $10 for a repair service fee in addition to the cost of shipping it to Massachussetts.After all that I may as well buy another humidifier.This time another brand.

So far so good
Pros -
Quiet.I have it right next to my bed.Other than the occasional blurb (water bubble), it's very quiet.

Remote is useful.No need to get out of bed to turn it on.

No filter to buy.Easy to clean.

Room for Improvement -
The humidity meter is useless.It started at 20%, and kept it at 20%-25% after a whole night on high.The room is only 12 by 12, so it has to be wrong.This also means, my humidifyer will never turn itself off, because I set it to 60%.

I think the meter is measuring what's on the floor level.I have hard wood floor, maybe that's why?

The LCD display is impossible to read when humidifyer is placed on floor.You have to kneel down to read.

First few time, the vapor has a weird smell.

Cons -
It's not really 3 gallons.On high, it'll run for about 5-6 hours only.On low, it'll run for about 10 hours.

Not easy to change water.You have to pull the container out, then flip it over to fill it, and flip it back to put it in.Seniors may not have the strength to do it.

When water run out, it just blinks with the RESET icon.It doesn't shut itself off.And after a couple weeks, I cannot press the RESET button to reset it.I have to unplug / replug the power.It also started a burnt smell, which worries me.

Works for me
Have had this unit for almost 2 years.Love this unit and planning to buy another because I've moved into a bigger place. I've not had any problems with it whatsoever.

Features I like about this unit:
-- the tank lasts a good 7-8 hours at the high level so I turn it on before I go to sleep and don't have to wake up and refill in the middle of the night.
-- almost maintenance free.I only have to wash it once every year (after winter) before storing for the next winter.I've seen another review where more washings may be necessary (probably due to hard water).
-- no filters to use (cool mist humidifiers require this).This is probably a personal preference but I don't like the idea of spending $$ to buy filters.

What I don't like about the unit:
-- humidity gauge is useless/unreliable.At first I tried using the humidity gauge to control the unit's operation but soon I find it to be in accurate.What I do now is let it run till the tank runs out, or use the timer.
-- this unit is extremely quiet, except for the occasional gurgling when the water through the tank.

Both things I don't like about are really minor (to me) or I wouldnt' have kept it.But they are the same reasons I'm giving it 4 instead of 5 stars.

Broke After a Week
I've had my humidifier for only a week and it is already broken. I ran it once a day or so until it was empty. Then one morning I checked on it to find that it was off. It just shut down on it's own and I can't get any power.

Stop working after one winter
Worked for one winter. And this year after using it twice it stopped working. Right now it can't be turned on and once it's plugged in the digital display just blinks. Called www.kaz.com and I have to pay $30 to cover the cost for shipping to have it fixed.

By the way, my friend got the same unit a week after I got mine.
Her unit is acting the same way now....Does that mean they have really good 'Quality Control' ??

Very effective - I have two of them
My son always woke up stuffy in the morning and - not knowing anything about air cleaners - began looking at their stats.This unit seemed to be the best in terms of circulating air and cleaning the air.Its not a flashy looking unit but it worked so well I bought a second unit for downstairs...

I have had the first one for over 6 months and even with almost constant use it works as well as it did the first day.The second one is everal months newer and that one has been problem free as well.

I will say the unit it fairly large - it usually doesnt go unoticed in a room.That said...its not the size of a building or anything like that...but it is larger than some units.I have it fairly out of the way in one room but in my sons room, being a smaller room, its more obvious.

About noise:Its not a silent unit.The units that claim to be silent are not cleaners but ionizers and their effctiveness according to consumer reports is doubtful.I also looked at them when I was buying...but they did mention to clean the unit if you notice *arcing*...arcing is what happens when you put metal in a microwave.Perhaps the chance of this happening are low but it was a definite minus in my book...they also do not filter the air.

As far as this unit and noise; there is noise but it is of the white noise variety.On high you would have to turn up a TV, on low its easier to forget your hearing it, it becomes background and I find it to drown out outside noise.I like it.And after the first few days of running it on high I mostly keep it on low - except after dusting or cleaning the room.

This is an excellent unit and after running it a few days, take a look at the filter.You will be glad you got it.What it collects is impressive.I will probably buy one more in the near future for a second bedroomm

I love Vornado products....
I use the Vornado AQS35 filter systems and they are fabulous. We have two filter systems, one in the "bird" room where I keep my Cockatiels (and my computer), and the other upstairs near our bedrooms.The bird room is clean as can be and at the end of the day when I clean cages I only sweep up spilled pellets and seeds.I have never been bothered by Cockatiel or any other bird dander since I got the Vornado filter systems, and I have allergies. My office supplied a less effective filtration system, so I notice the air quality right away when I arrive at work.Don't give up your bird, get an air filtration system from Vornado.

Oh yes, they are quiet.The system makes a comforting sound, something like the distant roar of the ocean when you are at the beach, so your sleep will not be disturbed if you have one in your bedroom. In fact, I often think of it as "white" noise for street noises. As one other reviewer said, they are perfect for city living (I live right under the National Airport flyway), but will work with pollen, mold and mildew particles in the country.

Love it!
It is a loud machine but it's great for me because I live on a noisy street and it blocks out all the other sounds so I can sleep at night! It works great too, and it's small in size and not heavy, so when I have people over that smoke I move it to the living room or wherever we are and it completely eliminates the smell.

Nice machine, but too loud
I just purchased all three Vornado air filters: the AQS15, AQS25, and the AQS35. All have the same basic design, and the higher the model number, the larger the size. The AQS25 and 35 deserve five stars: good design, and quiet operation. The AQS15, however, has one major problem. It is loud. On its lowest setting (of the three speeds it has), it is as loud as either of its bigger siblings on their highest settings! The AQS15 is so loud that I personally can't stand to be in the same room with it. An air filter should be seen and not heard. I don't know why it is so loud, possibly because of its small size and the huge volume of air that it moves. I own other Vornado products, such as their heater, fans, and humidifier. This is the first time Vornado has disappointed me.

Bottom line: if you want a *quiet*, high quality HEPA air filter, get the AQS25 or 35. The AQS25 is the best buy for the money. On the other hand, if you don't mind having a filter that sounds like an old fashioned 9-horsepower box fan, then get the AQS15. Not a good buy
To be completely truthful, i must mention that this one my FIRST purchase of an air purifier.

Reading about it online and the low price inclined me to buy a BAP825, it only lasted one day at my house because of the number of flaws i saw in the product. (doing countless # of readings about air purifiers paid off)
1. Even though it's a nice looking product with a stylish look, its looks are deceiving. Why?...first off look at the unit's front grill that suppose to blow all the clean air out. That long yet not so wide grill looks good enough to do an efficient job of air flow right? But what if the unit only blew air out from the far left side of grill. The unit i received had no air blowing from the center, or the right hand side(top to bottom). I called bionaire to complain and they replied "no...ALL of the units of this model are like that..even tho the grill is a nice size...only about 30% of it is actually used..having air blown out from a far corner is normal" Now try placing this unit in an angle all the time to have it blow straight.
2. Filter seems reasonably price?...wrong. Heres why. Bionair says to change the Hepa filter every 12-18 months and charcoal filter every 6 months. The problem with this unit is the hepa filter is combined with the charcoal filter (not separate)! Thus, for this unit u change the filter every 6-9 month instead, MAKING U BUY FILTERS TWICE AS MUCH AS OTHER UNITS. That mean in 18 month period u might have to change the filter for this unit 3 times ($40 x 3 =$120)!!!.
Misleading and awkward grill..but more importantly twice the filter cost made me return this unit and get the model BAP1175 instead...here's why:
Lets compare the cost of both units for 18 month.
BAP825
*cost = $99
*filter = $80 (giving them benefit of the doubt...changing only twice instead of 3 times)
*CADR =110 (clean air delivery rate, see www.cadr.org)
*suggested room size = 180 squared feet
TOTAL COST FOR 18 MONTHS = 179
BAP1175
*cost = $130
*filter = $44
*CADR = 140
*Suggested Room size = 217 squared feet
TOTAL COST FOR 18 MONTHS = $174
Lets see, you have a model (1175) that clean alot better (higher CADR), can handle a bigger room, and costs less at the end of the 18 months. Not to mention this better model will continue to cost half in future since BAP825 makes you replace filters twice as fast. THEN WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD U BUY AN INFERIOR PRODUCT JUST TO PAY MORE? Do yourself a favor...don't purchase this BAP825...go get yourself a 1175. BAP1175 is better, more powerful, and the initial unit's price difference is made up in the first six month when everyone who owns a 825 will be purchasing something you won't (a $40 filter).

Not sure how this one works??
I bought an 825U, for my home office. (I also own two of the BAP-1175 units, which I LOVE.) The 825 looks very sleek, and fits perfectly where I need it to go. But here's my concern with it: the room air is drawn in the back, and clean air is blown out the front -- which seems to me that the unit would be blowing the room air away from itself, effectively keeping most of the room air from being drawn into the filter. (??) The natural spot for this tower design is in a corner, or next to a desk or bookshelf. This puts the intake against the wall, where it doesn't seem to me that it could do very much intaking. Especially if the fans are blowing all the air away from the unit. I called Bionaire, and while they are consistently friendly and helpful, the only suggestion they could give was to place the unit more toward the center of a room. Obviously, that's rarely an option for most people. Maybe I'm thinking too much about all this, but it's something I'd love to get more information on. For now, I returned the 825, and got a second 1175. It takes up more space than the tower, but is a more effective purifying unit in my consumer-level opinion.

NO PLUGS
amazons review says it has connecters but it dosnt!!!

Connecting two ethernet wires is a pain. The wire itself contains 8 small color coded wires inside that must be connected indivudaly to the corresponding color on the other wire. These wires can't be soddered because the signal requires metal to metal contact, it won't work with lead sodder. Steady hands and loads of patience are required

that a lot of money for bulk cable
factor in the $75 you'll need to spend for tools to crimp on your connectors (not included) and this is a very bad buy. Hey Amazon, you need to make clear that this is BULK CABLE and not a finished product!
