5-0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommend !
I like the :
1) Easy to read display
2) Alarm Reset - single button turns off alarm and resets it for next day and it is easy to find
3) Easy to use
4) Displays PM & Alarm On
5) Single Buttom to listed to NOAA Weather
6) Looks good, but if your are up very close has a bit of a painted on finish appearence - the finish could be better.
7) Single Alarm - most radio alarm clocks have two alarms, but as I never used that feature and it caused confusion on what I was setting more than once, I very much like that there is only one alarm.
8) Picks up AM, FM, and Weather great - I am in a city.
9) Great Price - I prefer this radio to my almost new that it is replacing !

3-0 out of 5 stars It's okay.
It does what it says. The instruction booklet comes right out and says the weather radio stations are weak and may not come in. That was the case, but I managed to route the antenna in a way that it picks up the weather channel fairly clear, although there is a lot of background static which changes in intensity depending on whether or not someone is moving around in the room. My girlfriend really appreciates the separate Hour/Minute buttons. She stuck with her old clock radio for well over a decade because most of them have forward and reverse buttons to set the time which she absolutely hates. The ALARM RESET button is a nice feature, every other clock radio requires flipping a switch to OFF and back to ALARM again. I've worn out several clock radios this way, so a button is a welcome change. It's recessed in order to prevent pushing it accidentally when you're half-asleep. It also has a fairly nice, modern appearance and matches most other electronics (i.e. my VTech 2.4GHz phone) as well as the black furniture.

My primary gripe with this clock radio is the quality. It's built cheap. Made in China so no big surprise. Mine was brand new (everything sealed with factory tape) but still had a couple small scratches in the silver paint. Pushing the weather radio button ON and OFF results in a loud audible pop sound. I had a hard time getting a 9V backup battery in it, because the metal "tangs" that snap onto the positive battery terminal were misshapen and bent. I had to get a small screwdriver and bend them into place. I leave the display on the HIGH setting because the brightness doesn't bother me and all the segments light up evenly which looks better. On the LOW setting, several segments of the display are noticeably dimmer than the others while overall the whole display seems to flicker.

Overall, for the price it's pretty good. We had been wanting a weather radio and a more modern looking clock radio to replace the old woodgrain one, so this clock radio does the job of both in one neat package.

3-0 out of 5 stars Overall nice, but beware the defects.
I have mixed feelings about this alarm clock. It has some great features, but also some flaws. I gave it 3 stars mostly due to the poor quality of the antenna (a wire that you have to move around just right to hear the weather radio). A sturdy metal antenna would have worked much better. My antenna arrived damaged. The warrenty is limited -- I sent it to the manufacturer and they charge you $5 to get it sent back to you, plus you have to pay to ship it out. So, it cost me about 1/2 the original price just to get it working properly. Very disappointing, and due to poor quality of the antenna.

Other than that, the only significant flaw (that bothers me, that is) I see is how small the Sleep button is. It's difficult to find in the dark, and it's made flatter than the rest of the buttons (it's on the top left of the front of the clock). This makes it hard to press the button, too.

The alarm does have some very nice qualities. Being able to listen to the weather when the news on TV isn't on and it's stormy (so can't turn on the computer) is very handy! Make sure you have a NOAA weather station in your area before you buy, because the signals are weak and you may not be able to pick it up at all.

The slow-to-wake buzzer is really nice. It helps you wake easily, rather than jumping out of your skin. It starts to almost nothing to a fairly loud buzzer. You won't sleep through this buzzer.

Also handy is the Reset button. This resets your alarm for the next day. You don't have to remember to turn the alarm on everyday, because it just resets it to the same time for the next day.

If you're buying this for the Hi/Lo dimmer, I wouldn't recommend this clock radio. It works, but it isn't very dim. I leave it on dim all the time because the Hi setting is so bright.

4-0 out of 5 stars good radi a must buy!
i just bought this and it works like a is the best for thoose people who need to wake with a quiet alarm so you wont wake others...this is the best!! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Warning!
Just to let any interested purchasers know, this clock does not, I repeat NOT have a plain Beeping function. You can only wake up by your preset radio station turning on, or a continuous loop of lame guitar riffs. Also, just to let you know, the "Mystery Phrases" are prerecorded Magic Eight Ball Answers like a girl saying "Like, No Way!" or a guy saying "You Bet!", "For Sure!", or whatever. Another flaw is that the black projection is almost impossible to see in the dark. The forwards or backwards time setting buttons do make setting the time and alarm easier, but that is the only good thing I can tell you about this clock. Enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars great
this is a great little radio for the price.
it sounds like a radio costing ten times more.
i highly recommend it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wow ... Nice Sound ... So Small!
I received the Jensen MR-400 today (15Nov02) and was pleasantly surprised. The first thing I did was put the batteries in wrong, so ensure that you do not do that, or they will ruin the unit ... luckily I took them out quickly.

The reception is GREAT and the TV works amazingly well ... uses only two AA size batteries ... better reception than my much larger and more expensive Sony AM/FM/TV radio.

Wow ... it is so small ... you will be amazed at its size. After using it today at the river listening to my favorite TV program, I am impressed because I was 25 miles from the station out in the boonies.

I will update this later if it should prove warranted.

Good Luck,

5-0 out of 5 stars A Bargain Radio
Pocket sized AM/FM radios with TV audio are not very easy to find and are often quite expensive, so it was a delight to find this little gem and at this price too. It proves that inexpensive doesn't always mean poor performance or quality. The sound is great and it is able to pick up distant stations that our other pocket sized radios can't. The quality of construction is as good as radios costing a good bit more. I highly recommended this Radio.

Small yet robust, the Timex T600B is no ordinary clock radio. With a CDplayer, an 18-preset digital tuner, stereo speakers, four "nature" soundsamples, and three separate alarms, the T600B may cost more than the averageclock radio, but it still represents a solid value.

Short and stout with rounded sides and a contrasting silver-and-black body, theT600B looks a little intimidating. It has far more buttons than most clockradios, which we suspect may puzzle first-time users. Fortunately, many of thesecontrols are used for setup, while the most frequently used buttons are setapart and logically situated.

The Indiglo (blue) display shows time, date, radio frequency, CD track, andindicates which nature sound (ocean, brook, forest, or wind) is currentlyselected for the alarm. Setting the six AM and 12 FM presets is verystraightforward, and when powered up the T600B's last-station memoryautomatically returns to the station selected before the radio was switchedoff.

The sound of the T600B is quite good, but the close proximity of the twospeakers yields little stereo separation. And though it does deliver a full, clean sound, don't mistake this clock radio for a mini stereo system. Overdriveit, and the cabinet will start to buzz in protest. If you want to listen athigher levels, we'd suggest using the mini headphone jack or investing in a moremusic-oriented clock radio or shelf stereo.

All in all, the Timex T600B is a good value: it's small, sounds good, and ischock full of features. --Wayne Garcia

2-0 out of 5 stars ..........Just Don't Hit The Snooze Button..........
I received this CD/Radio/Nature Sound Clock Radio for Christmas. It has good points and bad points. I'll begin with the good:

-Large Idiglo display
-Good sound quality (for a clock radio)
-Plenty of radio presets
-Aesthetically pleasing

That's about it though. Unfortunately the bad outweighs the good. Bad points include:

-Hissing sound emitted by the CD mechanism
-Snooze button is WAY too close to the OFF button
-Alarm has a time limit
-Nature sounds are unrealistic

-Doesn't keep time (?????)

Let me elaborate on a few of the bad points:
I like to ease into the day which means that I hit snooze a few times before getting up. The snooze button on this unit is less than 1/2 inch from the OFF button. HELLO!!!!! I'm groggy when I hit that button!!! The snooze button and OFF button should be no where near each other!! Maybe it's just me, but that's kind of like a car manufacturer designing a vehicle with the cigarette lighter right next to the gas filler neck.

The unit I got doesn't keep time. It gains approximately 3 minutes per month. I spoke with Timex Tech Support about this and they said I would have to send it in to be repaired. I'm sorry, but this is an $... clock radio, made by Timex no less. It should be about as acurate as the atomic clock at NORAD.

Lastly, the alarm is timed. This doesn't present a problem, normally. But if you're not feeling well, or just having a hard time getting up, you'd best beware. After 6 hits of the snooze you're done. You'll be waking up at noon wondering what happened. Why on earth would they limit the alarm?

The long and short of it is this......if you are shopping for a nice looking, compact, CD player/Radio this works great. However, if that's all you're looking for you probably don't want to spend $.... I'm stuck with mine as it was a gift. Do yourself a favor and buy something else.

2-0 out of 5 stars too many flaws
I have owned this alarm clock for a couple of years now, and I regret to say, I am at long last in the market for something better. From day one, the clock would gain time, a couple of minutes per month. The cd player (which whined noisily when it started up) also stopped working long ago, and unfortunately, the cd player was the main selling point for me when I purchased this clock. The radio reception leaves a lot to be desired, depending on where I stand in the bedroom. My final complaint is that some (not all) of the functions are way too complicated to program without the manual, which disappeared a long time ago.

Why 2 stars then? The one reason I have kept the clock far beyond its prime is that I love the nature sounds feature. I find now that I have difficulty falling asleep without the serene forest breeze whispering in my ears - I am a "soothing nature sounds" junkee. On another positive note, the alarm has been very dependable, aside from user error.

1-0 out of 5 stars Undependable and too hard touse
After putting up with this Timex radio for way too many months, I'm back searching for a better quality, more user-friendly clock radio. It looks great, but the quality isn't there. Poor reception. Volume control is particularly bad -- hard to find a mid-level sound output. It jumps from too low to too loud, which can be incredibly annoying when you need a dependable alarm. Sometimes the sound was too low to wake me up; other times, the sound would blare out and wake up the whole household.

Worst problem is difficulty in setting the station pre-sets. After reading the insructions several times, the radio just proved unresponsive to my station settings. I'm extremely disappointed and would not recommend this radio to anyone.

1-0 out of 5 stars 1980's Technology
My radio quit working after 1 year - they only give a 90 day warantee. Since I'm an electrical engineer, I thought I would fix it myself. I couldn't believe the outdated technology they are using! No wonder it only lasted one year.

2-0 out of 5 stars Great product hobbled by a fatal flaw.
I bought this clock and enjoyed it for a few months. I enjoyed the nature sounds which are more pleasant than many competing products. I also liked the fact that I could keep the sounds on all night (great for those who wake in the middle of the night and want to be soothed back to sleep) but still wake to an actual alarm sound (a hard to find feature). It has dual alarms that worked well. It was solidly built and not unattractive. The radio and CD were functional which is all I ask of a procuct like this.

However, call me old-fashioned, but I like a clock that actually tells time! This clock was the most horribly out-of-synch clock I've ever owned. It was fast by about 3 minutes per week! This meant re-setting the clock every few weeks... not something you expect to do on ANY clock let alone one in this price range.

Unless you enjoy doing math when your alarm goes off (is it REALLY 6am? How many more snoozes do I take until it is truly 6AM in real life?) and resetting your clock every few weeks, skip this product. I now use this strictly for the soothing sounds and I don't even bother to set the clock anymore - it is about 45 minutes fast right now and climbing. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite alarm clock!
I've had this clock for several years now, and it's always worked fine for me.I'm a bit nearsighted, so the extra large numbers and the fact that it lights up when it goes off is very helpful, not to mention I can pick it up and hold it in front of my face without ripping out wires.Sometimes (in some places) it does take a while to get a signal from Colorado but for the most part it's never been an issue. The screen has stayed bright on mine, only dims a little when the battery is about to die.I've only had to replace the batteries once.Nice snooze and travels well too.

One hint - if you need to replace the AA batteries, the easiest way I could get off the cover (brute force didn't work) was to put a piece of tape on the back cover and pull sideways.Hopefully they fixed this on the newer versions so that it's easier to open.

2-0 out of 5 stars LCD had problems displaying after 10 months.
this clock looks pretty cool but the quality needs to be improved. it's absolutely not worth of $$.
i bought one with an AC adapter last year which cost me $$ more. i like the LCD to constantly show the time at night so i didn't care the extra $$.
it took a long time to receive the radio signal from Coloroda. but it was pretty easy setting the calendar, date, day, time and alarm. i was very happy about it until this February. the LCD suddenly went partially blank. i wouldn't even guess what time it was showing. i thought the batteries ran out so i replaced with a new pair. yet it still couldn't display the time properly and the LCD turned totally blank in a day. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Not so bad, after all
I am revising my review, because after going blank for a couple of days, the digital display came back, and now the clock is working again.

Probably the outage had to do with a backup battery being dead.

The alarm sounds, however are disapppointing. They are not very well recorded, so the bell sounds have some hissing. I would have preferred that they be recorded in a loop, but instead you hear a repetitive pattern with a definite start/stop pause. If you use the radio instead, you will probably be satified with the sound.

The alarm's bell tones are a huge improvement over my previous clock's BEEPBEEPBEEPBEEP, and I like the progressive loudness from soft to loud, also the sleep feature works well.

2-0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for
I think the nature sounds are sad. The loop of the bird calls is about two seconds long. If you like to listen to the same shrill whistle fine. The fidelity is really bad. The ocean waves, I think it is ocean waves, are more like static waves. Like a transformer is about to blow. Not very restful, although you can use it to wake up to. The radio, as someone mentionned, is something you'd get as a toy in a fast food promotion about fifteen years ago. The body of the thing has buttons everywhere. So it is not that easy to figure out what you have to do to have a simple alarm. The package came from Amazon as a pre used product and two of the three batteries were gone and the one that was in the box was still in the machine and had been drained. This ranks up there as the worse purchase I have made on Amazon. On the bright side, the design does look cool with the clock illuminated very nicely.

After reading the reviews here I immediately thought after purchasing this model that I would have a problem with the analog clock not working.

Well, I plugged it in (I purchased it used) and the analog clock didn't work. It helps to read the directions. The analog clock specifically runs on a battery. I wonder how many "failed" clocks were simply due to either a dead battery or no battery at all? Out of all the things that could go wrong electronically, it seems that this feature would be the _last_ because it's such a simple thing for them to make.

Another criticism of this model is the noise. What noise? My analog clock makes none - and I'm actually disappointed! As for the alarms, you have a volume control.

About the only criticism I have is that the radio quality is not nearly as good as the T309 model. I tested that one in the store and the audio quality is excellent for the price you pay.

No other big problems other than that. It's a cool looking model and it has a lot of features for the price. As for the sound quality of the radio, if you're looking for an alarm clock this will be fine. If you want something that you actually listen to (other than talk radio) you'll probably want a different model.

I got this clock about a year or two ago and I love it. It works great. One thing I like the most about it is the ease with setting the wake up time. It has a forward and revese on it. My dad also has the very same clock. :)

I bought this because I like analog clocks, and this was the only clock radio I could find with an analog clock. That part is nice, but the sound quality for music is very poor, very tinny. It's fairly good for talk radio, but not for music. It has some nice features, if you don't mind futzing around with learning the controls on yet another electronic device. ... Read more
