5-0 out of 5 stars Best phone I have ever had.
I bought this phone a week ago and it's is the easiest phone to use. The clarity of the phone is the best. You can hear the the person on the other line perfectly. I have no complaints about this phone. It is worth every penney!

3-0 out of 5 stars Seems quality, but reverb in handset
Seems like a decent phone, no problems with static, works great outside....but at least one of the handsets has reverb when talking. For this reason, I'll probably return for another of the same or something different.

4-0 out of 5 stars A tremendous value.
I have owned VTech phone systems from the first generation cordless up until this model, which replaced my 2.4 GHz system. This model is ideal for a single person or small family as it is not expandable, but you get two phone sets for a great price. The features are plentiful and easy to understand. I like the new rechargable batteries instead of the clunky cartridge in the older phones. Three mailboxes, 50 phone number storage (What's cool is you only punch in the numbers/names once and they are shared by both phones.), good sound quality, so I have no complaints yet. I didn't give this 5 stars because I don't know how it will stand the test of time. My 2.4 GHz system became a pain as it aged and the phone units discharged very quickly, even with new battery cartridges. Plus VTech did not say if you should let your phone units discharge off the charger or keep them sitting on the charger...a real dilemma because I wonder what is best for long battery life. But let's hope the new rechargable batteries do a better job...then I'll add the fifth star. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Also Works With VTech 20-2489 System.
This VTech 20-2420 Accessory Handset also works with the VTech 20-2489 Expandable Phone system.

The 20-2489 system is identical to the VTech 20-2481 Expandable Phone system, except that the 20-2489 system has a 20-2420 handset (with stand/charger) included in the box, for a total of *two* handsets, instead of just one.

5 stars because it works well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent phone system
This is a terrific, well-priced, and reliable phone. Reception is clear, battery life is adequate and it is simple to use. I have tried many, more expensive systems and the v-tech 2 line is the best. Additional phones can be added seamlessly and you do not need an outlet in every room. The answering machine can be acceseed from any handset and the paging functions work quite well. I now have 5 phones using 2 lines on the system and am very pleased.

4-0 out of 5 stars Works Great
The expandable two line phone solved all our phone problems. It has been very reliable and I have added to the system so we now have four phones plus the base. A good buy.

2-0 out of 5 stars Keypad went bad
I had this phone for about 2 years. After the first year the keypad started going bad. This is why I am here searching for a new one to buy. You have to press really hard on the keys, also when pressing on one number you may get multiples of the same number. Reception and range are good. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best 5.8 GHz Phone We've Found
We've been looking to replace our Panasonic 900 MHz phone which just died. We tried numerous Panasonic phones (2.4 and 5.8 GHz), and were unhappy with most of them. Brought home the Vtech i5867 5.8 Ghz with the built-in digital answering machine to try out. The phone had great sound quality, but the answering machine sounded terrible. In fact, most of the built-in answering machines we tried were awful. I know, digital will never be as clear as tape. But you should at least be able to understand part of the message a caller leaves. We finally found the ip5825 and decided to purchase a separate digital answering machine (AT&T). We're very happy with our choice. What can you say? The price is reasonable, the phone has excellent sound quality and range, and it uses the standard AAA rechargeable batteries. So you can go to your local Wal-Mart for replacements. I've been a panasonic fan for along time, so it was hard at first switching to Vtech. But the Panasonic 5.8 GHz phones were all pretty expensive compared to the Vtech. And to be honest, didn't sound as good.

The only negative I would mention is the on/off buttons on the handset could be a little larger and easier to locate. But the ip 5825 has the "any key answer" feature, which kind of makes that complaint mute. You can't go wrong for the price.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great product - well designed
These phones are an excellent choice. Read the above features for all the normal stuff.

The phones work great. Unusual items of interest:
1) The phones SHARE a phone book. This is very cool. If you are using the second handset, and you have typed all the numbers into the first handset, they will all be there.

2) The phones use standard size NimH batteries. This should make it very easy to replace them when they wear out (a common cordless phone problem).

Downsides: Only supports the 2 handsets it comes with.

I am very happy with my purchase. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars So far so good
I've only had the phone for a week and so far it's great. The phone uses real recharcheable AAA batteries, so no worrying about finding proprietary battery backs when they inevitably stop charging. The speakerphone function works pretty good when the volume's turned up all the way. I'm not sure if the phone is full duplex - it seems to be one person speaking at a time, which ideally is how a conversation should go anyhow, so not a big deal. The 50 number memory is EXCELLENT, the ring is pleasant to your ears, I haven't had to read any directions because everything is pretty intuitive. I programmed every number I regularly called w/o cracking the manual once. If it gives me any problems, I'll update this review, bur for now it's the best phone I've bought in awhile.

4-0 out of 5 stars Overall, good purchase
I agree with most of the previous reviewers so I'll try not to repeat what they have said.
I am pleased that these phones use NiMH batteries (three in each phone) which are much superior to NiCad batteries. NiMH batteries hold more charge, don't have memory effect, and are easily replaceable.
The recepting range of the phones is very far so it can be used outside.
One major annoying of this phone is that you can hear yourself talking occassionally -- and turning the volume down doesn't help sometimes. Also, transferring a call to the other handset is a little complicated. Besides that these phones are great.

2-0 out of 5 stars Handset sometimes stops responding
The handset sometimes stops responding and I have to put in cradle and then remove in order to answer the phone. Other than that, the features in this phone are great. You can have all of the cool features in the world but if the basic phone operation fails, they are all for nothing.

4-0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good
I got these after using my brother's set, which he compared favorably to his expensive Siemens system. I've been very pleasantly suprised. I just got fed up when my Panasonic 900mhz (which a famous Consumer publication recommends) needed a battery replacement, when I had just replaced the expensive battery a year ago. (As a sidenote, I was frustrated that the publication also said to keep the phones always in the charger base, while the Panasonic manual said to always wait until the recharge light came on before returning it to the base. Ugh.) These Vtech phones surprised me by meeting my needs.

1. They're just the right size. The Panasonic I had was too large and heavy to clip to a belt and use a headset with. These phones come with one belt clip on the phone, and they are small and light enough to be comfortable there. They have a standard headset jack, too.

2. I actually really like the color scheme. That may sound silly, but the off white and pale blue are cheerful and muted, and they fit in any room, as opposed to the color schemes that dominate cordless phones, which are usually cheap white, overly serious black, or some sort of Nike sneaker boom box multicolored silliness that seems more appropriate for a 9 year old boy.

3. The lcd screen works well, and it's great to program numbers (simple and intuitive, by the way) into one, and have them automatically show up on the other handset. It holds plenty of numbers. For families where they want to put one unit upstairs in a kid's room, the intercom feature is valuable, too.

4. They take standard inexpensive rechargeables, and so far, after two months of use, I haven't yet had one go out on me, even during 2 hour conversations. Also, even if one did, you can always switch to the other set. In addition, I like the fact that you always put it back on the base -- i.e. the instructions are clear. The base is quite small, and I was surprised how nice it was to clear that room on my kitchen counter, which had been taken up by a large Panasonic base in which the phone lay horizontally.

5. It's amazing how nice it is to have one set not need a phone jack. It's not just that you can put it in a stairwell or bathroom, but it's nice to put one in a room with a jack, but in a different place than the jack: say, in a more convenient place in the bedroom, or near a computer but not have to worry about connecting to the modem jack or something awkward.

6. Volume control. I don't know how to rate sound quality: I don't think about that while I'm on the phone. What I do think about is volume, since on phones I've had before, sometimes people sound too loud or too soft. Both units have convenient volume controls on the side.

7. Spread spectrum. I had been neglecting the fact that my analog 900mhz (and even digital non-spread-spectrum) phone can be listened in to by any neighbor with a cheap Radio Shack police scanner. Maybe you don't care. I actually have a creepy neighbor who has a whole lot of electronics stuff all over his place, and I'm happy this phone is harder to monitor.

8. I experience no interference from my neighbor's wireless network.

So far I've had nothing disappoint me with the phone, but I'll update this review in the future as things come up. I will say that sometimes the unit is a bit hot when you first take it off the recharge base, but this hasn't bothered me.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Perfect Cordless Phone Setup
I normally wouldn't buy a V-Tech, but after reading the features I went on a hunch that this was a well-designed phone system. Though I've owned it for only a few weeks I have nothing but good things to say.

- You can always charge your phone fully and use it till the battery runs dry (thus perserving battery life) because the other phone is always available!

- Speakerphone and headphone jack on both handsets!! Along with a button that allows me to clip this phone onto my belt and do the dishes while on a conference call!

- The intercom system is lots of fun.

- Inuitive GUI, and all around solid design.

I just hope that it will last! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Improvement over the already excellent 2.4 GHz model
I was very happy with the 2.4 GHz expandable VTech phone, except for the interference between it and the 802.11b (Wi-Fi) wireless computer network on the same cluttered 2.4 GHz band.

This phone is everything the 2.4 GHz model was, plus a more slightly larger and more comfortable handset, better sound quality (both normal and handsfree/handset-speakerphone modes) -- and, of course, no more interference with the 2.4 GHz 802.11b wireless LAN (I understand it receives on 5.8 GHz but still transmits on 2.4 GHz, but we haven't encountered any problems).

The only downside we encountered is that the intercom function is now on a softkey menu instead of a hard button (as it was on the 2.4 GHz model) so it is less convenient to use and almost impossible with one hand. It does now allow you to intercom-ring all handsets at once, which the 2.4 GHz model didn't.

Consider getting an extra battery for the base unit -- the base keeps the battery charged for operation during a power outage, or as a spare for a handset.

4-0 out of 5 stars Works great & clear, but limited range
We have the base + two hand sets.

The good:
I love it. It also works great with the phone-company voicemail system, because it has a BRIGHT indicator which blinks in the handset and on the base unit when there are new messages. Intercom is a cool feature, I will buy additional sets for around the house because we are no longer limited to jack locations: Garage, spare bdrm, etc. Speaker setting sounds clear to us and our callers. It has a headset jack. Redial & caller id return call menu give option to dial 7, 10, or 11 digit number.

The Bad:
The range is shorter than my old ATT 2.4Mhz system, > 200 ft. The speed-dial list has to be programmed on EACH handset separately.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good phone
We bought the base and 3 extra handsets. The phones work great inside around the yard and even in the adjacent houses around us. They do not however have the range we expected. The reception is clear, the intercom and call transfer are great as is the vmail indicator. We have never had battery issues or interference with our wireless network or other appliances as some people have complained. For the price they are an EXCELLENT buy.

2-0 out of 5 stars cordless phones won't charge
don't waste your money.. i had bought a base unit and 3 handset units. the base works fine, the handset units all have problems charging. Vtech tech support said it's the batteries.. they send me new batteries, but the problem still remains.. i think it's the design of the handset charger, does not make good contact to properly charge the units.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good phone
The volume of the receiver is a little low. This phone does not intefere with 802.1g wireless network in my house. Good design ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent accessory handset
I have bought 3 of these handsets and they all work great. No interference with my wireless network as many have reported w/ base system. Downloading pictures and sound clips to the phone is very easy (simple software worked perfectly) and fun (not great quality but what do you expect). Reception on all 3 is very good with 50 number storage and intercom/speakerphone features on each phone. In summary these phones are user friendly and do what they claim.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Cool Phone
I like this phone. The reception is just as good as the regular LCD version. The pictures on the phone are not as clear they appear on the box, but they are still good. The downloadable ringtones only lasts for about 10 seconds or so and then that ten seconds of clip is repeated until phone is answered or the caller hangs up. It is easy to use and the instruction manual is helpful. All in all, I like it and I plan on keeping it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Phone system
My son gave my daughter and me this four line V-Tech system. It is great. You can carry one phone around with you while the others are on the bases so you don't have to run to the phone when it rings. We had a cordless phone, but these phones are small. If you misplace one, you can call it and find it by its chirping. Also, if I need to reach my daughter, I can call her through this system. You can store phone numbers, redial, look to see whom you called. It has so many features that I don't think we found them all. This was the best gift I have received! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Caller ID?
I liked this phone when I got it but am in the process of sending back the second one I purchased. The caller ID feature works on one line but not on the other. The company's help line was worthless, didn't even know how to turn off call screening. I tried everything they suggested, unplugging, taking out the battery, unplugging other two-line phones in the house that had caller ID, etc. Nothing worked. The company was very good about sending another phone but that one didn't work either. It's a shame because the ability to access the answering machine from the additional handsets was a big plus.

Voice quality was only fair, and I sometimes got a clicking sound when talking on the phone that was annoying to me and the people I was talking to. Still, I would have kept the phone for the ability to access the answer machine, the speaker phone in the base, and the light weight of the handset if it hadn't been for the malfunctioning caller ID.

Update: The company has finally admitted that the caller ID on the second line of the phones just doesn't work. They are trying to fix it and will give me a new phone when they do. In the meantime I am stuck with a phone that doesn't do what I need it to do. I have ordered an AT&T phone system but just learned that AT&T owns V-Tech so this system will probably turn out to have the same problem. It infuriates me that the company knows this is a problem but still sells the phone promising it will show caller ID, and not just on one line!

1-0 out of 5 stars Is it unnatural to want to kill your phone ?
I have owned this awful system for 6 months, so I can expertly advise you all NOT to buy this system ! Matter of fact, I want to buy an 18-wheeler and run over the base and both handsets !!
1) The answering machine is so tinny in sound, that your callers
will either think your're in a bunker or submerged in 40 feet
of water, when they hear your OG message.
2) The quality of the handsets is so pathetic, that after 6
months, 1 handset has worn out keys that refuse to fully
depress so we can simply make a completed call.

3) To disconnect after completing a call you have to practically
hit the "off" button with a sledge hammer, or you'll never
access another dial tone in your life !

4) Particularly maddening: "Call on hold" seems to be a feature
the phone imposes on you, even though you have not placed the
call on hold at all ! You place the handset back in its cradle
and you think you're done...Well, suddenly your handset is
ringing, telling you the "call is on hold". So, you have to go
to the handset and "bash" that infamoue "off" button to shut
the phone off again and disconnect what should have been
disconnected originally !

5) So as not to belabor the point; suffice it to say that unless
your retailer is going to give you this system free of
charge, don't even think about it !! Even for free, who needs
the grief ??

* By the way, I have been looking for a good 2-line system for
3 years now, it does not exist !! Is this rocket science ?
Maybe NASA should work on the problem, as not one single
cordless phone manufacturer can seem to get a handle on this
product !!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great phone system
This is a terrific, well-priced, and reliable phone. Reception is clear, battery life is adequate and it is simple to use. I have tried many, more expensive systems and the v-tech 2 line is the best. Additional phones can be added seamlessly and you do not need an outlet in every room. The answering machine can be acceseed from any handset and the paging functions work quite well. I now have 5 phones using 2 lines on the system and am very pleased.

1-0 out of 5 stars echo, static, poor mic volume
When using the handset there is an intermittent reverberation. When using my plantronics headset, which has performed well for 3 years with a different phone, people complain of poor mic volume and/or static. They keep asking if I am on a cell phone.

Its going back.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst value in 30 years of purchasing phones
Don't buy this product. Most of the time when people call and we are not home, the answering machine hangs up on them. When I call or write technical support, they tell me to unplug the phone and plug it back in. I am not going to do this every day. We have had this system in our home for 18 months and I regret the day I purchased it. It has been nothing but trouble. Also, the headsets, which are not cheap, fall apart and Vtech refuses to address the problem. Granted the product is out of warranty, but this is a recurring issue, and clearly is a problem with product quality. I get better service out of a $30 phone I bought 15 years ago than on this over $300 investment. ... Read more

The 40-2421 from VTech is a four-line, multi-user expandable phone system designed for the small office or busy home. It consists of a base unit, which supports up to four phone lines, and one cordless handset. As your needs grow, you can add up to 11 model VT 40-2420 handsets, for a total of 12. The intercom feature lets you communicate with other handsets, while the call transfer function provides a convenient way to route incoming calls from one handset to another. The conference feature allows you to communicate with multiple outside parties, or conference-in an additional handset.

The 40-2421 utilizes 2.4 GHz digital spread spectrum technology, which provides clearer reception over larger distances than traditional cordless phones operating on lower bands and transmitting an analog signal. A headset jack and handset speakerphone offer comfortable hands-free options.

With the auto pick-up setting turned on, you can answer calls simply by removing the handset from its cradle. A visual voicemail message indicator alerts you when you have messages waiting. 2-0 out of 5 stars Nice idea, poor implementation
We've been very happy with our VTech 2431 single-line 2.4MHz
phone system for the past few years, so now that we have
three lines this looked like just the right thing.
Unfortunately this system appears to have been designed by a
completely different team. The handsets are very large (too
large to fit into a pocket), the menus are more difficult to
use, the speed-dial feature is extremely clumsy, and the
signal quality is very poor, with lots of hissing in the
background. We've sent this one back and replaced it with a
two-line VTech 20-2431 system, which is much more like the
original 2431 and doesn't suffer from the problems of the
40-2421 series. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

The VTech v2600 is an expansion handset designed for use only with the VTech v2656 and v2651 2.4 GHz digital spread spectrum phone systems. Like the systems it works with, the v2600 features caller ID/call waiting capability with 50-name and number caller ID memory (subscription required through your phone company), and a 50-name and number phone directory.

Key features include any-key answer (which saves time in answering when you're in danger of missing a call), backlit keypad and display, mute, 2.5 mm headset compatibility for hands-free conversations, and visual message waiting indication (VMWI), which alerts you to waiting messages.

Digital spread spectrum technology uses a wider bandwidth than standard 900 MHz transmission, casting the data that makes your conversations across multiple frequency points and at greater power than do traditional cordless phones. This increases your phone's range, enhances its immunity to noise and interference, and heightens its ability to prevent eavesdropping.

You can station the handset just about anywhere in your home. It communicates through the base unit (required, sold separately), functions as a speakerphone, and allows communication with other v2600 handsets. It also offers programmable ringer types.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing phone
The V-Tech 20-2438 has an attractive array of features at a reasonable price, but the performance of this phone is extremely poor. Practically speaking, the most important aspect of any telephone is its audio quality, and this model fails by any measure (static, poor reception, echoes, slow dialing and distortions). It was a disappointment because we were replacing another VTech model (900mhz model VT 2931) which was comparatively excellent in sound quality and range, if a bit outdated with a telescoping antenna (which cracked and rendered the entire phone useless).

1-0 out of 5 stars Phoneuser
Reception is terrible - lots of interference. Battery life is just awful. Lasted about 1.5 hrs when first bought, now, 4 months later, lasts 30 min. BIG WASTE OF MONEY.

1-0 out of 5 stars Wish I had read the reviews before purchasing
I bought this phone for my home office. I had a Panasonic I really liked, but it was lacking a mute button. Since I work from home, I spend quite alot of time on conference calls, using the speakerphone. I wanted to have a mute button so I could do things while listening. The speakerphone on this phone is AWFUL. It fades in and out, making it virtually impossible to hear what's going on, even with maximum volume. Don't waste your money!

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor quality phone
Phone looks nice on the box, but performance was awful.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent choice
The speaker phone quality of the base and handsets are perfect. I was able to drive around the block with my handset without any breakup of signal while talking. The base is the only thing that needs a phone jack so you don't need umpteen phone jacks in your home or office for the same phone line. This phone is perfect for someone who relies on cordless phone durability and good battery life. I have never had one of the hand sets run out of juice. I have had this item for over 6 months now.

I used to have the newest and greatest Panasonic. I tried Panasonic 3 different times. Dealing with warranties got old real fast. The features were great but the durability was nil.

These VTech phones are awesome. They are light years better than any competing cordless phone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great phone! Doesn't interfere with 802.11b/Wi-Fi LANs
I've owned several cordless phones, but everyone of them has had a deal-killing flaw. Either the battery life was too short, the range was limited, too much interference, etc. I was very happy with a 2.4 ghz phone I purchased recently, but it interfered with my wireless computer network. If someone was using our laptop to connect to the Internet via the wireless network, and someone wanted to use the phone, either the wireless LAN went down or the phone had too much interference to have a conversation. This phone, which operates at 5.8 ghz rather than 802.11b's 2.4 ghz, doesn't interfere. That alone makes this phone a winner for me.

On other issues, sound quality is terrific. Range seems as good, if not better, than any other phone I've used, and battery life is satisfactory. The phone is packed with useful features and is pretty intuitive to operate. I couldn't be happier with the phone.

5-0 out of 5 stars great phone
I live in a small, older house that has only one phone jack. This phone is great for a situation like that. I purchased two handsets on clearance and have them set up in other areas of the house. It also works well outside of the house. In my opinion, it is well worth the money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best phone for large multi-story homes
I have to agree with other ratings about the battery life, clarity and features on this phone. I wouldn't trade this phone for any other. As far as range goes, I have had no problem going into my neigbor's yard across the street and still being able to use this phone. Amazing! The intercom feature has become indispensable in our home - no more yelling through the house to get someone else's attention. No more running downstairs to just to find that you aren't the person being called. I completely recommend this phone system.

2-0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointing Performance
I bought this phone expecting that it would be perfect for our needs. My home office is in a barn that's next to our house, not far away, maybe thirty feet. I put the base station in a room in the corner of the house nearest the barn, and the handset in my home office in the barn. Reception was horrible at all times. I have a WiFi network, and wondered if that might be the problem. I returned the phone and bought a Vtech 5825 (available on Amazon via Circuit City), a less well known model that comes with two handsets but is not expandable beyond those two. The 5825 has the same technical specs as this model (same frequencies), but works vastly better when configured in exactly the same way. Reception is crystal clear always, with no interference from the WiFi. The 5825 is also cheaper. If you don't need more than two handsets, go for the 5825. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Phone - Feature packed!!
With 6 people in the house, 2 lines and many handsets are essential. The quality of the phone is great with no static even on the far end of the house with the base on a different floor. Our handsets are in constant use and see the base rarely except at night. The charge will last all day but if left off the charger overnight, it will be dead in the morning. When using the phone company's voicemail system, the handset has a clear led that indicates voicemail is waiting. The handset has a fantastic form factor fitting very comfortably in use.
Line 2 rings even if line 1 is in use and caller id comes through if you have call waiting regardless of which line you are using.

Desired improvements: pager button on the remote bases (you can page from another handset or the main base). I also wish the intercomm would go directly to broadcasting through the speaker of the handset without requiring a person to pick it up. When saving a number to memory, there should be an option to save it to all handsets.

Without going to the $400 price point, this phone beats all others in this category!

2-0 out of 5 stars Reception isn't as good as expected
As well when plugging in a headset to the handset there's an irritating high pitch noise that is unfixable.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great phone!
I bought the VTech 20-2431 base and 3 additional handsets six months ago for home use. I needed two lines and caller ID but did not need an answering machine as I use SBC CallNotes. I have been extremely pleased with the performance of these phones. The speakerphone on the base and the handsfree operation on the handsets have been nice features which I hadn't anticipated using as much as I have. Another unexpectedly great feature is the "message waiting" light which flashes when there's a new message on my SBC voice mail. I've also found the paging feature to be helpful in locating "lost" phones. The telephone range and battery life are exceptional. I highly recommend this phone.

1-0 out of 5 stars Interupted calls
I would not recommend this phone. I bought it for a small office. If you are talking on line 1 and line 2 rings, the handset beeps in your ear with every ring and interrupts line 1 creating segments of dead air, much like call waiting does. Very annoying in a business setting where the second line can ring multiple times during a business call. When I called vtech to find out what was wrong, I was told nothing was wrong, that was how this phone worked. This is worthless as 2 line phone. Also sound quality is like talking into a tin can. ... Amazon.com Product Description

The i5866 from VTech is a 5.8 GHz cordless phone system with a number of handy extras, including an all-digital answering system, and multi-user expandability to eight handsets. The i5866 utilizes the 5.8 GHz frequency and digital spread spectrum technology to provide clear, accurate reception with less interference than traditional 2.4 GHz and 900 MHz phones. The answering machine stores up to 15 minutes of messages split among three mailboxes, while full remote operation allows you to check messages even while you are away from home.

Caller ID/call waiting compatible, the i5866 has a 50-number caller ID memory as well as a separate 50-name-and-number phone directory to help you keep track of important contacts. You can select among eight ring tones and 12 musical ringers, while the supplied audio patch cord allows you to record custom ring tones.

A speakerphone on the handset combines with headset compatibility to provide hands-free communication options. Handset-to-handset call transfer allows you to route incoming calls to any handset registered to the system, while three-way conferencing lets you communicate with multiple parties at once. An intercom feature provides a way to communicate between handset locations, and a global page/handset function lets you speak with all handsets at once.

Additional features include flash, redial (last 10 numbers), and hold. The NiMH battery provides up to eight hours of talk time or up to five days on standby, while a low-battery indicator lets you know when to return a handset to its charging cradle. A handset control allows you to adjust volume levels. The i5866 also comes backed with a one-year limited warranty.

3-0 out of 5 stars ONE handset, not three
I thought this was a great buy - base station and three handsets - until I realized that the picture lied: only ONE handset is included. Thankfully I could still cancel my order.
Amazon: please change the picture, it is misleading!
(By the way, this review system forces me to pick some number of starts, note that I have no idea how good or bad the phone is, so three was chosen arbitrarily.) ... Read more
