Does not work properly
I bought this for my 80-year-old mother, who is disabled and can't cope with a computer. Every time the typewriter is turned on, we find that it either types the wrong letter (press a Q, it prints an S; press E and get P, etc.) or else it prints the correct letter but they are not spaced correctly (some overlapping, some huge spaces). There is some esoteric combination of keystrokes that, supposedly, will reset the programming. But this is just too much for Mom. Also, every time it's turned on, you have to re-program the line spacing, the tabs and everything else. I ended up buying a 40-year-old manual typewriter on e-Bay and Mom is much happier with it.

This is an excellent product. Well made and fast. I am a writer and I prefer it to a computer. The only thing is that another reviewer said that he was still on the original ribbon while writing around four hundred pages. That's incorrect. You'll get about 30 pages or so of 8 1/2 by 11 inch page size. If you double space, you'll get sixty if you're lucky. I wrote about thiry pages at 10 pitch single spaced. But the ribbons are a lot cheaper than toner or ink for a printer. The quality of the print is much better than on a printer. It looks so much more professional.

Excellent
I really enjoy the GX-6750 by Brother. It met my every expectation. The only thing I have to say is that an earlier review claimed that the reviewer was writing a book and was in the 400 page area and was still on the same tape. Untrue. I got about 30 8 1/2 by 11 inch pages out of the tape that came with the machine. I, too, am an author and expect to go through
6 or 8 cartridges on this book I'm currently writing. First draft, of course. But I really have no complaints for this machine. It's built well and functions flawlessly. Thank you Amazon for the price, and thank you Brother for a superior product. Five stars.

Good Buy
I have, for the past ten or so years, been a professional writer with over fifty short stories published, and two novels. When I saw this typewriter on Amazon.Com, I was shocked to see such a wonderful model going for such a small price. Daisy Wheel typewriters provide a long life, durability, and good quality production. Not to mention that it came with free shipping. And on a ten pound item, you will pay more than you would like for shipping and handling. This has several features that save a lot of time, and a lot of repeating, frustrating motions. The only thing better than the great deal our friends at amazon have given us is this: With a high Yeild Nylon Ribbon, it flows like a stretch of silk. I am currently half way through my next book, coming to about four-hundred pages as of now, and I am still on the same ribbon I started with. One High-Yeild ribbon is good for about 80,000 characters. If you are a student, this is a nice buy, and cheaper than buying a computer and a printer. If you are a writer like me, then you might hit it big on this one. In closing, you should grab these up, because the free shipping won't last forever, and I know all of my friends will want one. So, here's to you, Amazon, for this great model at an affordable price.

Beware of used typewriters
I waited 10 days for this to arrive. The first time I plugged it in it ran for 2 minutes. I typed Dear and the machine typed wcm" When I tried to erase wcm" the erase mechanism did not work. I turned the machine off and when I switched it back on the carriage went to the far left and will not move, ie I cannot type or use the machine in any way. When the machine came two of the keys were knocked loose and I had to stick them back on. Now when I look at the machine I can see it is assymetrical...there is a 1/4 gap in the base, so it must have been dropped or damaged somewhere. This is not acceptable but I have no way to contact whoever Mstasad is. I have a huge project to do over the labor day weekend but I don't have a typewriter that works.
