5-0 out of 5 stars Covers all basic needs
If you're looking for a cheap alternative then Mojo is the right choice. I was looking for a MP3 player that was light and small and I didn't want to spend too much on it since I'm hoping to get an iPod soon. All other alternatives I had seen were too expensive to be worthwhile or didn't have a screen. How can you buy an MP3 player in which you don't know what's playing??!!?? this small player has an incredible amount of information, it's incredibly small, includes interesting functions and works with drag and drop like a breeze. Battery life is 12 hours as promised. The cons are basically the headphones (better use your own) and I found the maximun volume a bit low. All in all, it's definetly an excellent choice (you can use it as a pen drive if you get tired of the MP3 functions)

5-0 out of 5 stars one of the best
This can play MP3 files at different bit rates. If you rip in 64kbps you can fit almost 4 hours of music. I'm not sure if WMA is a good format, but this one is compatable with that. It's really light! You don't feel it's there.

This is my 2nd flash player. My 1st one (digltal way) was very bad and lasted just 2 months. I just had this for more than 2 months so woopi! it's already outlasting the 1st one.

Gripe: why is this only USB 1? it takes a long time to copy all the music. Should be USB 2!

5-0 out of 5 stars Cheap and fun, but no FM
Ok I wasn't expectin FM on this since this model is inexpensive. It has good sound to boot, and the orange color does attract attention. I just wish it had USB 2 not the older, slower USB 1 technology. Otehrwise I'm a happy user.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good but only 128mb
This only comes with 120mb of memory. You can't add a flash to expand it. This is the only shortcoming, but you should be able to find this for a better price on the web, and if you can you'll find it a good buy. It has good sound for all kinds of music. I listen to lots of pop and I find the Mojo great to have. It also doesn't skip when I jog or walk my doggie. I like it lots.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cute (orange!), good sound quality, very easy to set up
Pros:

+ small and cute, you can put it on a keychain, or hang it from your neck. orange color really makes it stand out! (a large pouch is included in the package in case you need one)

+ surprisingly good sound. i found this on sale plus a mail-in rebate, so i wasn't expecting much, but the sound quality pleasantly surprised me. there isn't much bass (even in bass mode - see next item), but otherwise the sound is pleasing, and can get very loud.

+ simple EQ. 6 levels: normal, jazz, pop, rock, bass, and user-defined (which just lets you adjust bass and treble). you'll need to get into the navigation menu (by holding down the Select button) to get to these settings, but as you go through each level, the sound changes in real time to let you know! very cool, considering many more expensive mp3 players don't give you this.

+ very easy to set up. i just took it out of the box (hard to cut open, though), inserted the one AAA battery, turned it on, hooked it up to my windows 2000 laptop, and it showed up on the pc as an external storage drive. just drag and drop the mp3 files. no driver needed for windows 2000, windows xp, and mac.

+ yeap, mac-compatible.

+ sharp lcd display, and shows lots of information: volume (0-100), memory usage (%), track title, elapsed time and total time for track, battery status, etc.

+ includes repeat A<->B mode! many high-end players don't even have this.

+ dedicated hold button, just like on your walkman or discman. many high-end players don't have this, either!

+ wma compatible. must be non-copy-protected wma, though. so you can't buy music from walmart and play it.

+ navigation menu easy to use once you get the hang of it.

+ lots and lots of features for something so small and simple. just amazing.

Cons:

- does not play copy-protected wma

- skimpy manual, but at least it's in good english

- navigation menu seems confusing at first.

- non-expandable memory (116MB as reported by windows)

Other comments:

> no software provided; you can download windows 98 driver and free desktop player on tdk's website

> use your own earphones, of course

> not sure about how durable this is. tdk is a japanese (?) brand, but player made in china

> seriously, it's really cute

Verdict:

i think this is a good value, probably as a secondary mp3 player (e.g., when you want to listen to your favorite music when sitting on the toilet and don't want to drop your ipod into the abyss) or for kids and that girlfriend who really doesn't listen to a lot of music beyond britney spears. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars the best media out there
this is by far the best media out there. this media works on all dvd players including my very picky samsung dvd/vcr combo purchased 4 years ago. I like memorex and imation, but tdk is the best. it's a little more expensive but if you are backing up your dvd collection like myself, then make sure that you store them on media that will last a long time. i have made several burns and not had a single coaster yet. 5-0 out of 5 stars Works like a Charm
CD to Cd is great.
Analog is easy too, if you hook it up right.
USING RCA WIRES - RED & WHITE ones.
There are no real instructions on hooking it up to work
with a Cassette recorder on your receiver(amp).
What you have to do is disconnect your Cassette player from your receiver(amp)and hookup the CD Recorder to its hookups then hookup the Cassette player (OUT) to any hookup in AUX, DVD, TV, or VCR hookup on your receiver(amp).
On the CD Recorder keep pressing the INPUT button till it says ANALOG.
then set the MANUAL/AUTO to MANUAL.
then press EXT. RECORD button,
once you see READY start your cassette and then press PLAY.
Once done press and hold (for 3 seconds)the FINALIZE button.
Then enjoy your new CD.
PS
Always use MUSIC CD-Rs or MUSIC CD-RWs
I bought TDK MUSIC CD-RWs

4-0 out of 5 stars recording made simple
i'm not an audiophile or recording engineer,so simplicity is very important to me. and this recorder fits the bill perfectly. so far iam totally happy with the way it performs. the only reason i didn't give it 5 stars is because i haven't had it or used it long enough to rate it's dependability, which is also important to me.

5-0 out of 5 stars TDK DA-5900
I highly recommend this CD recorder. Very easy to use, great sound quality, and it looks pretty cool as well. I did a lot of research before I bought, and I have no disappointments.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Recorder
This is probully one of the best recorders ive used. The Sound Qulity is Great and it is very easy to use. The Only Complaint i would have is that the front pannel design doesnt match my other componets, but other then that its a Great Recorder And At a good price I Highly Recomend it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Works Fine
This is my first mp3 player and it has worked as advertised with no signifigant problems.

I have really only become an enthusiastic music collector in the last year and a half, since I started using the mp3.com website. On mp3.com I sift through a lot of mediocre music until I find something I really like, then I download as much of it as I can get (mp3.com is legal and it isn't affected by Napster's troubles). I never got in the habit of buying 40 minute standard CDs; I am used to having large amounts of music.

I first started looking into mp3 players about 6 months ago. I wanted to be able to listen to mp3s in my car and house (I don't use it with headphones). I also wanted to archive my music so I'd have it 30 years from now.

The large volumes of music meant that standard CDs and mp3 players with memory, memory cards or zip drives wouldn't work. That left jukeboxes with hard drives and CD mp3s. My computer doesn't support USB, so jukeboxes were eliminated (also some jukeboxes won't let you upload the files, so I'd still need a CD burner archive the my files).

I read about all the CD mp3 players and chose TDK for navigation, sound quality, skip resistance and battery life. Making the discs is a little time consuming but the navigation on the player works perfectly; I can pick individual songs, artists, or folders and play them in sequence or at random. I organize the mp3s with Windows Explorer, rename them with Navitrack, then burn a CD. Each CD holds about 10 hours.

Battery life seems to be about 10 hours, but I usually use external power (batteries have to be removed). I have never heard it skip. The start up time and the time between songs seems O.K. Occasionally it will fail to start and I will have to restart it.

I use it in the car with a Sony cassette adapter/ power supply. I also use it on my home stereo with it's own power supply and an adapter cable from Radio Shack. It sounds good either way. I was concerned that it wasn't firmware upgradeable, but it doesn't seem to have any bugs.

I had also hoped to download recorded books, burn them on CD then listen in the car. I haven't done that for two reasons: The TDK can't fastforward or rewind within a track. While it can pause and play, it will lose it's place when the power is off. This means that I might have to listen to several minutes of text over again to get back where I was (I got my TDK in May, so they may have improved since).

CD mp3 would be the perfect technology for unabridged books, but it's not quite ready. The recorded book vendors are only starting to support this format.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not The Most Features, But I Just Like This Thing A Lot
This CD-MP3 player doesn't have a remote, and does not charge batteries with its AC jack. It does not have a very useful equalizer, the settings make little difference. Reviewers say you cannot run with it, you can't, but you can sure ride the stationary bike without skipping once, and I could walk at a moderate pace on the treadmill with it in my belt pouch. Although I haven't weight-lifted with it yet, weight-lifting is also probably ok since it is usually as low impact as walking. It cannot search within a song in Mp3 mode, it can on an audio CD. It has a good customizable backlight; It has good sound quality; it has a playlist which creates itself as you play songs; It recognizes any kbps I have used so far; it responds instantly, unlike other players; the search function is more than useful; the software it comes with is MusicMatch 6.0 and TDK Navitrack, with Navitrack you have to edit each song manually, but once you link it to your burner it installs the descriptions exactly as you listed it in Navitrack, ex. Artist-Title-Genre.mp3 If you name the tracks like this with the hyphens, it will list the songs in any of those 3 catagories, including ANY word you use for genre! All you have to do is make sure you put in the exact same artist spelling to have all songs by that artist, and genre, etc. The manual edit is a pain, but you only have to do it once for each song, if that; it has a line OUT; it has a HOLD button; of all the CDs I tried, it only had trouble with a single burned mp3 disk, all other mp3 disks were perfectly recognized. All in all, for [the price] and a ..rebate, I love this thing. The funnest thing is having all your songs in the directories you want, Navitrack puts them in perfect, as entered. Having the Creative Nomad will prolly feel better at first, but later when you see how hard it is to use the thing, ex. slow controls, the expensive models may not seem so great after all. The Creative may have more features, but this Mojo is just such a solid and easy to use product, that you probably will not be able to bring yourself to return it for a more [costly] model because you like it so much!

1-0 out of 5 stars Way cool for two weeks
I purchased this mp3-cd player for a road trip so was not to concerned about size (about the same as all cd players). It worked flawlessly for the trip. well about two weeks later it started to turn itself on and drain the batteries. I never dropped it split anything on it in fact it never left my car. The only way to keep it from starting up is to turn the hold button on. very cheep the eject does not even push the lid up you have to pull it open while pushing the eject button to the side try doing that and drive at the same time. buy an IPod

2-0 out of 5 stars TIME BOMB!!!
I bought the mojo a little over a year ago and we've had the best of times together -- that is, until recently.
To begin with my mojo absolutely refused to play either MP3 cds or normal audio cds, making extremely annoying whirring sounds
In other words, after a year (more or less) of use -- my mojo cutout and refuses to function (after being treated with the utmost respect). It's a complete waste of money -- DONT PURCHASE IT!!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Often fails to play audio CD's
While the Mojo performs well with MP3 discs, it will certainly disapoint you when you play a regular audio CD. No matter it is a factory CD or your own recorded one, if it is not new it will fail playing too often, even my little daughter cheap CD player has a better performance. Yes, I tried cleaning the lens! ... Read more
