The Targus CVR600 Is Versitile, Well Made And Inexpensive
This is the least expensive Notebook Backpack that I could find but it's surprisingly well made and stylish. It looks much better than its picture...MUCH better. I like the numerous zippered pockets. There's a place for everything, digital camera, cell phone, papers, books and even a mouse. I prefer taking an external USB mouse instead of using the touch pad on my Notebook. There's three nice bubble type pockets, one of which fits my optical USB mouse nicely. My big Laptop with its 15.4" wide-screen fits inside the Backpack's built-in sleeve like a glove with no room to spare. Another nice feature is the PVC coated bottom. This will protect the computer if you inadvertently set the pack down on wet ground. Most Notebook Backpacks are considerably more expensive without giving you more. The Targus CVR600 was a perfect fit for my budget. Plus it's easy on the eye with good quality and plenty of compartments. I give it my highest recommendation. (Note: Amazon had the best price after FREE shipping was factored in.)

It's incredible, I was a littler worried about the size of my 15¨ Toshiba A45 S151 but it fit perfectly!! It has space for other thinks like my camera, books, my cell phone and a lot of extras.

If you are tired of carrying your 17" laptop (Order Now)
I purchased a 17" HP loaded down with features and extra accessories and have been on the lookout for a quality case. I went to a competitor and bought this by trying out several different brands. Targus cases are built to withstand abuse and protect the equipment. The wheels that it uses are in-line skate wheels designed to handle bumpy terrain and the case is soft inside but rigid on the corners to protect the contents. I would highly recommend, the price is higher than the cheaper made brands but it has alot to offer and if you paid over 2k on your laptop it is cheap insurance. ... Read more

It works perfectly!
I love this product!
I read the reviews of all the hubs and was confused about what would work and what wouldn't and "powered" vrs "un-powered"...
So I decided to buy a cheap, un-powered hub and see if it worked and go from there.
It works perfectly!
I have a 2-yr old PC running Windows 98 second edition.
I only have two USB ports and was ready to buy a new PC just to get more ports since every peripheral nowadays uses USB.
A friend told me about USB hubs--essentially an extension cord for your USB ports.
I plugged-in the Targus (the blue lights are cool), and plugged into the Targus the following--internet cable modem, scanner, DVD burner, and MP3 player. I rebooted (probably not necessary, but it never hurts), and everything is totally cool.
Now, I'll get another year out of this PC before I upgrade and I WILL keep the Targus hub--it saved Christmas!

Great, compact usb hub for mobile or desktop users!
This is an excellent usb hub for the price. Very compact and very light. It doesn't take up too much space at all. Also, it's powered thru USB so you do not need to deal with an AC adaptor.

I have a couple of USB devices that are powered through the USB port as well and my concern was whether they would still be active through this hub. I plugged both into the hub and both were powered up!!

And the 4 ports light up with a nice blue led color that's looks really cool!! Targus should show this in their ads/marketing material because it definitely makes the hub look much cooler!

This is a great bargain and perfect for people that need a simple & compact USB hub for all their gadgets.

Does exactly what it is supposed to, at a good price
I chose this just because I wanted something cheap. I have heard bad things about some other brands overheating or having various problems, but I have been using this a few months and found no problems whatsoever.

It remains room temperature and has had no bandwidth or power problems for me. It appears to have a place to connect a power supply (not included), but that doesn't seem to be listed as a feature so I cannot guarantee it. It has two USB plugs so you can get the power from a second USB port if you need it. I have only needed one. My only complaint with the device is having that extra plug sitting around (attached to the cord), but of course that isn't a problem if you use it.

It's cheap and it works, so I recommend this item.

Great Device
This is a great product at a great price. I bought one of these for my laptop to add to the number of USB ports available. I liked it so much, I bought another for my desktop to simply make the ports more accessible. The supplied cord is plenty long to reach the desktop on the floor and then I simply Velcro'ed the Targus to my desk to make plugging and unplugging USB devices much more convenient. The Targus works right out of the box, no install required and it works on every computer I've tried -- no problems. I must confess, the blue LED's look pretty cool too!

I just got this item after reading just some of the confusing reviews and other positive ones.

It was inexpensive and worth the buy.

Upon getting it I unplugged by Logitech webcam and plugged in the targus. I then plugged in mouse, digi camer and webcam and it worked as smooth as silk. It is most recommended!

Nice item, But could be better.
My Mitac laptop has a fan on the bottom for exhaust so I figured with summer, my tabs on the PC always get stuck to the counter. This item is very nice indeed for a stable platform. Nice for lifting and having the hot air be directed in a different direction rather then just heat up the underside of the laptop. However this item I am sorry to say does not conform to larger model laptops. It doesnt sit on my lap easy and definatly not when I have my Wireless G card on the side. I would wind up if im not careful busting it. However if you find the place to keep it, aside from your lap. (Such as your bed, floor, table) This item will be a nice aide and you wont feel cheated for what you paied. However if your looking into keeping your laptop cool for the summer, I would suggest the one pad I saw that is PS2 powered and dual fans. Seems abit larger and will cool off same time. Dont have it myself, however I may get it.

Not as great as you think but not too bad
I hardly use my laptop at a desk. This product isnt that great if your looking to place it on your lap and use your mouse on it. I find that its not very comfortable and the mouse doesnt work very well. If you do use a mouse it really needs to be a mini opti mouse! I mainly use this to set my laptop on to keep cool as I usually have it on the floor, the bed, an ottoman, etc and it can get pretty warm. This product does work in preventing it from getting too hot so that your laptop doesnt overheat.

Coool Chill Mat for my Sony VAIO TR3A!
I LOVE my Targus Notebook Chill Mat! The silver color blends perfectly with it, and it is very lightweight & portatble, and ultra quiet. Perfect for small notebook owners. I was amazed at how cool it actually keeps my VAIO. When I first got my notebook, it was running really hot and my dining table was getting hot too. Now I have a place to put my notebook on to protect my work surfaces and more importantly, keep the notebook cool!

A Notebook Lifesaver
Its a rare day when Im willing to give something 5 stars. Today is one of 'em.

I have an Emachines laptop with a 15.4" widescreen and plenty of processing power. Meaning my laptop is about as wide as they come, and runs about as hot.

Summer just came round my neck of the woods, and in my hot little house, my hot little laptop couldnt hack it. I had it on a table, and by mid afternoon, it shut down. And wouldnt restart. The top was hot to the touch, and the bottom just as bad. So I got one of these Targus Chill Mats, figuring a couple little fans would help a bit.

They did more than help. Im convinced they saved the life of my laptop. My once hot-enough-to-fry-a-pie harddrive now tops out at a reasonable warm. Id say the air under my machine went from 95 to 60. Its not cool enough to refresh a beer, but its more than cool enough to allow my machine to stay on and operational all day.

At 11 3/4" by 9" its smaller than my laptop, but the feet on my machine still fit on it just fine. As I wouldnt expect Targus to make these in 3 sizes I think they chose a good route. Slightly smaller means itll fit nicely under any laptop, is more likely to fit in accessory pockets in bags (its only 1/2" thick), and leaves more room for the airflow you obviously need. So I cant fault it there.

Between my machines feet and the little rubber bumpers on the Mat, my machine is stable on it, and its stable on its own feet. I cant tell the difference between typing on it, or on a table. Despite the slightly smaller size.

Only having one little cable (which I keep bundled and twist-tied to the shortest length possible) running between the two is totally unobtrusive and easy to deal with. And dont even think about the sound. I honestly didnt even realise it was on at first.

The best $30 Ive spent on my computer in a long time. And spending that now sure saves the cost of replacing burnt out parts.

Definitely cool!

Great so far
Two months with this bag an it's still getting me to school. I haven't had any reliability issues.
The good:
1) It'll hold everything. I carry so many books to school I used to carry a backpack and a laptop case. Now I just have this bag.
2) Big straps to hold the load.
3) Lots of compartments to help devide up and secure the stuff.
4) Padded back
The Bad:
1) Laptop sits between your back and your load. It's padded, but this doesn't stop the weight of the load from resting on your computer. It should be a hard case.
2) Big straps that are too wide to leave much room for flexibility in the arms.
3) Useless little mesh pockets.
4) Deviders aren't flexible.

Too bulky
Though this backpack has ample room for what I needed to put in it, it's construction is stiff and it is huge, no matter how much stuff you have in it - it's like carrying a small child wherever you go. Also, the zippers are not the best quality - one is already totally broken and another on its way after only one year. One Solid Unit
If you need protection for your notebook, and room to carry a variety of other items, this might well be your bag. This Targus unit has a dedicated sleeve area for a notebook, and has a rather unique zipper up the middle and flap that buckles, ensuring that everything stays steady.

However, please consider:

- this is a solid, boulder of a unit. This baby felt heavy when empty. If you load it up, as I do, you'll feel like you're going off to war.

- the small, side pouches sit out too far for my taste. I'd like to be able to walk down a plane aisle with this on my back, but each time I've snagged those little sidecars on the seats as I'm walking by.

- The pocket inside the foldover flap is a great hold-all, but if you attempt to open the pocket while the flap is inverted you risk dumping pens, coins, etc. everywhere.

Durable, Roomy, Stylish
This is by far the best notebook backpack I found. My laptop is a 15.5" and its hard to to find a backpack that wasnt HUGE. This doesnt look huge but it has so much room inside it and plenty of space for books, disc, power cords, a mouse, etc. I also think its well made and has enough padding to protect your laptop. The zippers are great!!! Really smooth and it never feels like its sticking. Its also a lot easier on your back than one of the messenger style notebook cases! It also comes with a lifetime warrenty if you fill out the card and mail it back (at least mine did...it was inside the bag).

One helluva bag
I absolutely love this bag..I use it for my Wide Screen 15.4" Dell Inspiron 8600, which absolutely doesnt fit in any other backpack in the market. This one's a real stud. Though a bit heavy, its one solid unit, and protects the laptop well, with tons of room for your other stuff. I intend to use it mainly for Air travel, and bought it after a lot of research in Circuit city and other stores.

This thing does it all.
I needed a good way to carry my laptop onto planes and around the E3 show in Los Angeles, CA. So I purchased this backpack. It is everything I had hoped for in a laptop backpack. This thing holds my 15 inch Sager 5690 perfectly and the protection is top notch. The bag has room for pretty much any and all business related items you would think to bring. It has great construction, roomy compartments, and the overall TARGUS quality you'd expect! I recommend this to anyone except people who have laptops with bigger screens. Finally a docking station with video
Great product ... Allows simple connectivity to all your desktop peripherals with one USB cable. So basically, just plug the USB into your laptop, your AC adapter for your laptop, and you've got a desktop. Universal too so whenever I upgrade to another laptop, this will still be working.

This product has a very bad performance
I was waiting for a product like this, which included a feature to connect the monitor, to be available to the consumers. But, This product slows the performance of your laptop or notebook. It does not matter the speed of your processor. Once you connect the monitor into the docking station, the movements or activities triggered by the user from the computer is delayed for several seconds. Sometimes, the mouse does not move at all. Wireless presenter
Unfortunately this item tries to do too many things and that is its downfall. The laser is not bright enough and drains the 2xAA batteries (would'nt last more than a day's meeting). The wireless mouse is difficult to control and will not replace a regular mouse - the only good feature is the powerpoint control for slide advancement and reversal- works great for that with the two neatly placed buttons. However, if you happen to touch the large central menu button (hard to avoid because of its size and central location) it reverses to "mouse mode" - the two buttons turn to right and left mouse buttons- result the slides will not then advance- if this happens during your presentation- takes some figuring out!

THe poor battery life, weak laser and large and wrongly placed menu button make this an undesirable item- coupled with the fact that my first one blew out its circuit after 8 months (4 weeks for replacement and UPS costs)makes it an unrecommendable item.

Great improvement over the previous model
This new model is much better than the older unit. The greatest improvement is the on/off switch and power saving functions. The old version would only save batteries when it was left still, which never happens when it's in my bag and always ended up taking the batteries out which was a real pain.

I do not find the switch hard to use as some people have indicated. I have short nails and stubby fingers, but I have no problems with it. It's designed to not be accidentally switched off.

I use 700mAh NiMH rechargable batteries in the mouse and it's been a week now and I haven't had to change them with moderate use. I also find it comfortable to hold and pleasing to look at (important with laptops I think.)

The wheel rolls silently, but the clicking could be a little quieter since it is a laptop mouse that you may want to use in a classroom or boardroom.

The bendable usb adapter is a nice addition and I would recommend this mouse to anyone. I have used it successfully in Windows XP Pro, Gentoo Linux and FreeBSD.

This mouse is terrible
I got this mouse because it is small and easy for travel, however it has many technical difficulties. The battery cover is complicated and hard to remove, the usb reciver blinks when ever you use the mouse, the off/on button is very small and frustrating, and much more. overall....DO NOT BUY THIS MOUSE AND WASTE YOUR MONEY!

Not worth it
I bought this and returned it the same day. The scrolling wheel worked intermittently at best. It also had a problem when I moved the cursor diagonally. The battery cover is flimsy as others have stated. I almost snapped it in two while trying to put batteries in it. Another annoying feature is that the USB module has an obnoxious bright blue light that blinks continuously.

Believe all the bad reviews
I'll just hit the highlights. I didn't have it long before I exchanged it, so I can't address the battery issue. But some other negative features include:

* The on/off button is incredibly tiny so if you're inclined to stubby fingernails, forget it.

* The battery cover is suprisingly flimsy and feels like the tabs that click and hold it in place could break easily. It's hard to open, too, so I doubt the cover would last long.

* The overall size is larger than most products of this kind and surprisingly heavy. If you're going to go with this much bulk and weight, you might as well carry a full-sized mouse.

* Surprisingly, this is NOT PLUG-AND-PLAY! To use this mouse, you have to plug it in before you turn on your PC. If you unplug the receiver while your PC's running, you have to plug it in again and reboot.

* Also, mine did not come with the carrying pouch that's listed on the packaging.

There's absolutely no good reason to buy this mouse when there are better, comparably-priced, plug-and-play ones available online and in stores. ... Read more

Best Laptop Accessory!!!!!!!
I LOVE this little mouse. Its so compact but it doesnt feel too small. Portability is awesome as its cord is retractable. Theres not one downside to this mouse! I highly recommend this for any laptop user. This is also the first time I've owned an Optical Mouse and I will NEVER go back to a track ball mouse. You no longer have to drag the mouse everywhere and when using a laptop thats really helpful!!! You can also use this on almost any surface!

great size and useability
This is a fantastic solution for a laptop. I don't like touch pads or even the stick in an IBM ThinkPad. I used to carry a full size mouse. This is virtually weightless and can fit in any spare part of a laptop bag. I initially found my hand felt cramped because I was trying to hold it with the same fingers I use for a full size mouse, but I consciously just rearranged my fingers and found it to be incredibly easy to use for long periods of time. The retracting cord is ingenious.

I have rather sweaty fingers (I tell ya, this is really annoying), so it is essential for me NOT to rely on touch pad too much. This tiny mouse has been a life saver for me. It is rather affordable, and works pretty well with many (but not all; occasionally it doen't work on very, very smooth surfaces) surfaces. There are more expensive chordless models, but in many occasions, I'll be working on my notebook computer with limited amount of space, so having the "retractable" chord doesn't bother me at all.

"Retractable" is indeed the key here. It's so compact that you don't feel that you are carrying around yet another tiny electronic gadget along with your cell phone, mp3 player, shaver, etc., etc. Anyways, highly recommended.

Wonderful - so glad I bought it!
I didn't think I really needed this for my laptop, since the touchpad does a decent job. But this makes navigating the desktop and surfing the web much faster and more comfortable. It's tiny, but feels just right. I don't even like using a regular sized mouse anymore. It is truly plug and play via the USB port - it doesn't require separate software or drivers, or even a system restart for that matter. I just hooked it up and was using it in less than half a minute. Both buttons and the scroll wheel perform admirably. The self-winding cord works like a charm too. It comes with its own carry bag which makes packing convenient. In essence, it's everything I was looking for in a mouse. I'm not usually terribly enthusiastic about gadgets, but this one is without flaw.

Mouse Size is Great; Retracting Cord Broke Quickly
Bought the mouse for a Dell Inspiron 600 because of size and retractable cord. The size fits in a laptop case easily and is far less bulky than others. While very small, it works well on small tables, on the computer itself and on an airplace tray. But, the lock on the cord rewind device broke within one month and I now have to tie a knot in the cord on both sides of the rewind section to keep it from snapping back against the computer when no in use.
