Amazon.com Review

The Swatch TW01 corded Twinphone features a ergonomically designed base that acts as a second handset, allowing up to three people to converse at once. And its semitransparent case makes an cool fashion statement.

The handset operates all of the key functions of the Twinphone, and inside its case is a switch to change from tone to pulse dialing if needed. It has a 10-digit LCD that shows the number you're dialing and the duration of each call you make. The 10 memory keys and 3 direct-dial keys are especially convenient when calling frequently dialed numbers. Each of the 13 memory positions holds 16 digits, including scheduled pauses. There are also one-touch redial, mute, and flash functions. But the most interesting feature of the Twinphone is the dual handsets. When you want another friend or family member to join your conversation, simply pick up the Twinphone's base, and the base becomes a second handset.

Swatch's Twinphone is built for comfort. The curved design of both the handset and the base will keep you from tiring during long conference calls. In our tests, the Twinphone had good sound quality and was easy to program. Its few but well-chosen and easy-to-use features, and its fun styling, make the Swatch Twinphone a great choice for anyone who wants a splash of color and loves to talk. --Megan Dugan

4-0 out of 5 stars Sleek and sexy phone
If you're tired of all the boxy boring phones, try this one! It's beautiful and really eye-catching. The handset buttons are easy-to-use & intuitively labeled. Really a great product. Only three things keep it from a 5-star rating: (1) The unit has ringer volume settings (which is always nice) but the ringer can't be turned off altogether; (2) There is no volume control for the earpiece portion of the phone; and (3) I can't get the keypad to light up on my unit. But if you're looking for a beautiful basic telephone that doesn't necessarily have all the bells and whistles, this is it. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

The Swatch TDA03 digital answering machine is sleek and simple, with features that are remarkably easy to learn. Its plug-and-play design combined with voice-guided instructions make setup a breeze. Plus, choosing a digital answering machine means you'll have no more messy tapes to rewind or replace, and you'll enjoy the improved sound quality that many digital devices provide.

The TDA03 can store two separate outgoing messages up to 60 seconds. Pressing the OGM1 button plays either your voice or a prerecorded prompt that tells callers to leave a message at the tone. The OGM2 button will activate an alternate message, such as "the office is closed from 12 to 1 for lunch," and does not permit the caller to leave a message.

Using its programmable date/time stamp, the TDA03 can automatically record the day and time that each message was received. It also features up to 18 minutes of digital recording time for incoming messages at up to 2 minutes per individual call. In our tests, the sound quality was good for both incoming and outgoing messages. However, the recording microphone is subject to background noise and hiss, and we had to stand no more than about 6 inches from the machine in a room with no background noise to get the best recording.

With the TDA03's remote-inquiry function, you can check messages, switch your mailbox on and off, or record updated outgoing messages. Setting up the remote-access code is easy, and a handy wallet-size card reminds you of frequently used options.

With a well-chosen set of features and very good sound quality, the Swatch Record TDA03 helps organize your home or office and stay in touch, no matter where your busy life takes you. --Megan Dugan

Pros:

1-0 out of 5 stars It may be pretty, but it's junk. I cannot recommend.
I was in the market for a new message machine, since my 1990 AT&T tape machine broke. Sound quality, above all, was the most important quality for me. I scoured the web for something that would get the job done -- the Swatch seemed to fit the bill. Not so. I am appauled with the sound quality. It is very bad. Both the outgoing and incoming messages are muddy. Don't confuse volume for clarity. The volume can reach high levels, which is nice. However, because the messages are so muddy, it is very difficult to hear what is being said, despite playing it at a high volume. I can't believe that some company can't manufacture a DIGITAL answering machine that is high quality, and sounds as good, or better than a tape machine. I'm willing to pay for one if it exists. Sadly, the Swatch is not that machine, and I CANNOT recommend it to anyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars very good machine
Our first machine (used telco memory call before). Very nice features- 4 or 2 ring pickup, 1 or 2 minute record time, remote ops (haven't tried), announce and record or announce and hangup modes (different announcements), time/date stamp, call monitor, battery backup.

The audio quality of msg and recordings is great. Setup was very easy, unit confirms what you did. Have ours attached to standalone caller ID box and cordless phone (manual said this could cause a problem- nah). Have found no drawbacks mentioned in reviews of other machines at Amazon.

Only thing don't know is how long unit will last. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic
I decided to cancel my voicemail through my local telephone company. After researching seveal different answering machines, I decided to purchage the "Swatch Recorder". The sound quality is excellent compaired to other digital answering machines I have tried. Outgoing messages are "loud and clear" as well as incoming messages. It took me no more than fifteen minutes to set up the machine and learn all the features on it. It is definitely a "user friendly" machine, not to mention the fantastic colors available!

1-0 out of 5 stars Looks Great but Does it work?
This answering machine has two great advantages over alot of other ones: it is cute and it is small. Unfortunately the good news ends there.

Answering machines have to do two things: record messages and play them back. This one does record messages and it does play them back -- at least I think that is what it recorded. The sound quality is so bad the messages are almost impossible to decipher. After 6 months of wanting to rip it from the wall, I finally did just that and tossed it in the garbage. I replaced it with an AT&T version and I couldn't be happier. If it is cute you want, cut out the picture and hang it over your phone. It'll work about as well as the real item.

1-0 out of 5 stars Total Waste of Money.
Wish I had a zero star option.
I got the first one shipped and the battery compartment
screw had a blunt head. Returned it for a new one.
Volume control know kept having loose contact and would
break the voice, and had to keep jiggling it.
Finally, after 3 months, One day, went dead. No CPR
nothing would help. I thought I should give a newbie
a try. I am going back to panasonic and the sony's. I know
they may have issues, or a hickup here and there. But to
go totally dead on you.

I am amazed Amazon carries this Piece of S***.
Save yourself the trouble. Ditch it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Swatch Blue Bean
I new the minute I saw it I had to had to have it. I am a fan of blue, so that was the eye catcher. The price wasn't bad either. After I got it 'hooked up' and set it to working with my own message, I was thrilled. I had previously had a Radio Shack machine for about 10 yrs., so when it 'died' Amazon was the only place for me esp. being on the net. Anyway, it seemed to be working fine, until I tried to replay the important message I had, to my disappointment it wouldn't do that. Then I ran into the problem of not being able to hear the messages very loudly. But over all it ain't so bad.

3-0 out of 5 stars Reliable, but poorly designed
I've had mine for about 5 months. It serves me reliably, but I've cursed at it a number of times because I think its user interface (e.g. what happens when you press the buttons, and how do you do a certain simple operation) was very poorly designed. It just takes me much longer to do what I have to with this machine than with another digital answering machine I've worked with. For example, to listen to old archived messages, one has to push the "play" button and hold.... it.... down.... for... @#!... eaons.... OK 3 seconds, but much, much too long for something this simple. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Little fuzzy but works fine
It sounds like an answering machine, not like voice mail. The accent is a cute touch. I haven't had any trouble retrieving messages remotely.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
The machine's features are attractive and closer to what I wanted than any other answering machine I could find. However, the machine cannot detect those irritating computer-dialed calls, and records a blank message minutes long. Today I had 14 of those. Sometimes it does not hang up the line until after the Bell system voice comes on asking "If you want to make a call please hang up and dial again . . ." The machine is also a bit of a challenge to program, and the voice programmed into it is a woman's voice speaking British English with what sounds like a slight Chinese accent. At least it's interesting and a bit exotic. ... Read more
