I have them set up in our TV "room" where they sit on either side of the TV and about 5 ft. from the computer. It is a great set up. Gives listening to music from the computer a stereo feel. One thing that would make it better is if the cords between the sub and the computer input were longer. It is just a 6 ft. cord and so I can't really stretch it much further. These are not THX certified and the satellite speakers are pretty small so the sound is okay, not great. But it can fill our large studio appartment, no problem. If the price is right, and it was for me (though 78 from Amazon seems little high) I recommend these whole heartedly. They take your computer to a whole new level. ... Read more

Well after listening to them all; the inspire 5200 caught my attention because of the quality of its sound reproduction and clean base. The monsoon could be turned up all the way with out loosing it quality but it did not sound as good as the inspire though it had good base and looked cool (depending on your taste). The Altec Lancing sounded great also; the Logitech had the worst sound quality (like cardboard paper was used to make its speakers). Its base was not bad though. I finally settled on the 6600 because it was 6.1 even though I was not going to buy an audigy 2 card, I figured that I will finally be able to squeeze everything out of my SB live 5.1 digital. I am not using the center rear speaker. The 5200 sounded great and since the 6600 is more modern, more powerful and cost approximately 20.00 more, I went with it. These speakers sound great. ... If you don't want to break the bank and want to be sure you get the most resent technology from creative get these; you don't need the audigy 2 unless you are interested in 6.1 surround sound, 5.1 is what is supported the most today.
I would describe the sound quality as very good considering the price point. Don't expect tremendous quality, but you also won't be breaking the bank.
Pros: 1. Excellent build quality and packaging (too much packaging) Cons: 1. Need at least 10-15 hrs to break in. DO NOT crank'em without breaking them in first because they will sound poorly. Overall this is a great system for [the price]. Without the Audigy 2 with CMSS2 enabled they will sound flatter so do yourself a favor and get an Audigy 2 snd card if you're planning to buy these.

I've spent a considerable amount of time listening to these with all different types of music and am impressed by the speakers mid and mid-high range---very clean on vocals and acoustic instruments, provided the overall sound isn't too dense. If you're into that type of music, and do not need serious volume, I think you'll like them quite a bit. Acoustic jazz also shows these little speakers to good advantage. With a more "dense" sound, however, they become "good for their size," but IMO not as good as one might wish--even for the small size. Don't get me wrong--I will not be returning them, but I think if you listen to serious rock, funk or hip hop, their inherent size limitation *do* matter and some disortion may result at high volumes. While I respect the engineering involved and am trying to allow for their diminutive size, I think, all things being equal, Creative would not have compromised their portability and could have added to their sound by making them only slightly larger, charging a bit more, and trying for a fuller sound. As they exist, they are a very neat, compact design that I'd recommend for casual, personal listening given the lack of competition--just don't expect *too* much at higher volumes depending on your taste in music.
I bought these because of the excellent sound they produce, even though the bass response is not thumping. And because they can be powered by 4 AAA batteries or by AC power - most other portable speakers that I could find could not be AC-powered. And the batteries last for a couple of days of lengthy sessions. Easy to carry around - they fold up neatly and come with a handy black velvet soft carry case. They are not well-balanced when in use - they fall over rather easily. But that's the only negative that I can find with them. Most of my friends are surprised by the quality of the sound - we've used the speakers plus my iRiver 350 CD player at picnics and BBQs with 6-8 people - as background music providers, they were great. I have not regretted buying them for a minute, even though they are more expensive than many others around. Creative gear is generally good gear, and these are no exception to that generalisation. You won't be disappointed.
PRO'S CON'S This thing is DEFINITLY worth it!!! THe bottom line is, is that it sounds AMAZING!!! It really really does! ... Read more

I'm on the road constantly so portability is number one for me. I use them with my laptop to watch DVDs. The only limitation is volume,if you crank it up they will distort. But for watching DVDs in a hotel room they are perfect. Well done Creative Labs.

One nice feature is that there is a line in on the wired remote. This allows you to connect an external device to the speakers. For example, I have a "boom box" which I use to listen to the radio. It has a nice sound, but since getting these speakers, I have plugged the boom box head phone jack into the line in on the wired remote. You can do the same with any portable device like an IPod or Walkman. Also, since you control the volume via the wired remote, you don't have to place the satellite speakers right next to your monitor.
There is no info on size/weight on the Creative site and I've searched just about everywhere else on the net with no luck.

Pros: aesthetically pleasing, small size, wired remote Cons: no treble control (can only adjust the bass level), weak midrange output I played all genres from dance, R&B, electronica, rock, punk, classical, opera, jazz, piano, choral, Latin, solo instrumental (violin, cello, clarinet), and movies. The bass is excellent as others have already pointed out. However, due to the small size of the speakers, the midrange output was significantly lacking. When I tried to compensate for this by boosting the treble in iTunes (the speakers have no treble control!) certain songs were played with noticeable distortion due to overloading the small speakers. A perfect example of this is how alto saxophone in certain jazz songs were really distorted. Even my 5 year old basic Phillips speakers and subwoofer performed better than these. The only redeeming quality of the I-trigues is their attractive aesthetics and small size. According to some Apple audiophiles, Soundsticks 2 by Harman Kardon is a good alternative to these speakers for $50.00 more.
The UPS guy delivered these at about 5 PM and I quickley took them upstairs to unpack them. I was up and running the tunes form my Creative Labs Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 60 GB Mp3 player within 15 minutes. I noticed that the volume could get relatively loud, with pretty good treble. But when I turned the bass up, oh man, that was moving. Soundwise because of how earthshaking it was, literally because it felt like the ground was shaking at how much sound was coming out of them! In the time I have had them I have put many different types of music through them. Hard Rock, Rock, Classical, Opera, Country, Blues, Jazz, Baroque, Pop, R&B, Christian Rock, Soundtrack, and World music. Each one of them sounds way higher than any sounds system I have had before. At first I was a bit skeptical about having the sound running via my headphone jack on my Mp3 Player. Then I learned that it goes into a Line-In jack on the remote of the Pod (what a great idea!). No matter how loud I push the volume or how pumped I get the bass, you can hear stuff you've never heard before in those memorable songs. With these speakers I feel like I'm in one of those really high-tech stores. The ones that have a great name brand sound system accompanied by a top of the line Mp3 Player. If you want something to go with these sleek babies, get Creative's Zen Xtra Mp3 Player, because I assure you you'll have hours of enjoyment from them both. The little leaflet of a quickstart manual that came with the package is very self explanitory. It tells you the precautions of using them, how to connect them using a really discriptive diagram, and how to use the speakers in many ways. Something to keep for further reference. Overall I am very satisfied with these speakers. I've used them in 4 different ways so far. Via Mp3 Player, via home stereo CD player, via computer, and via my digital piano. The only drawback about connecting them to my digital piano was that if you turn the volume up relatively loud, the Titanium drivers vibrate too much, making it sound like distortion. If you ease up the volume, this problem is simply solved. I know this because it is just the suble sound of a piano key that makes that odd, unexpected sound. If you put it on "Strings", put the bass on full, piano on top volume, and remote Pod on the highest volume setting, it creates a lush array of sounds that you would only imagine in your most far-fetched of dreams. Pros: Amazing sound, sleek look, very versitile, easy start up, ability to connect to compatible Creative Mp3 Players through the unique "M-Port", price. Cons: Heavy AC adapter, slight distortion on "Grand Piano" sound on my digital keyboard. Bottome Line: I highly recommend these speakers. They may look small, but they provide a powerhouse of sound for any occasion. I got these from a reliable company that I found online for about $40 less than what Creative sells them for. Very good deal by them. I hope to spend many more days in the rich, superiority of the Creative Labs I-Trigue L3450 2.1 Speaker System.

Here is where the Creative I-Trigue 2.1 3300 speakers come into play. Not only do they have rock solid components and specs but they are VERY stylish. The whole system screams quality. The desktop units are solid metal stands with a translucent plastic back that look simply gorgeous next to my flat panel monitor. The woofer not only hits hard and with utter clarity at all volumes but it is built like a rock. Plus, as you know, they have a wonderful wired remote with a headphone jack built right in. As for the clarity, you could not ask for anything better at such a modest price. The highs are unbelievably crisp and the bass hits hard & clear at all volumes. The mid-range sound is not muddy like your often time hear with computer or self-powered speakers. The key in all this is at very low volumes, while other people are working in the office, the sound is still beautiful and crisp through the entire dynamic range of the speakers. If you have the money, go for a Klipsch product, but if you want a GREAT value with beautiful sound and style pick yourself up a pair of these. I am far from being sorry.
A year later, I can say the following: Pros: Amazing sound, stylish design, lots of features that can't be found in other speaker sets (examples: the remote's headphone jack, the remote's bass control, removable black grills on the speakers if you want the speakers to have an all-chrome look) Cons: None. It's really difficult to find something wrong with these speakers -- I might have wanted the wired remote longer than 6' ... but that's about it. I've received nothing but compliments on the sound and design of these speakers. For any Mac users out there: there is also a white / silver version of these speakers that Amazon.com sells.

These speakers are great for portable dvd player.... PS. SBS 350 kicks a_s, and the bass was strong enough to be felt!
Two little speakers and a subwoofer are included. The speakers produce a relatively rich sound, with a low noise floor. There's no hum or hiss when they should be silent. The sub is basic - fairly rich, but nothing to write home about. My last set of Creative speakers was their 4.1 set by Cambridge Sound. That set had a power block with a cord, which I half expected to see here as well, but this time they went with a standard 'wall wart' transformer. It gets the job done, but I find it less convenient. The speakers connect to the sub with a standard 8mm jack. Each speaker connects right at the jack with its own wire, rather than attaching to each other, so this may limit how far away you can put the sub. The volume knob is attached directly to the sub. The audio wire that connects to your computer is also attached to the volume knob. In the Cambridge Sound that I had, there was only one wire coming out of the control knob - having two makes it a bit harder to place. The cords are relatively long, but could use another foot or so to really be convenient. Due to the layout of my computer room, I have my tower on one side of the desk and the subwoofer on the other side of the desk - the cords are long enough (barely) to allow me to put the volume knob next to my monitor. The volume control has an on/off switch as well as a wheel to control the volume. This is nice in that it lets you shut off the speakers without losing your volume setting. Two sticky pads are provided to allow you to stick the volume control to the desk, monitor, or other surface. All said, they get the job done. They sound good, and at the end of the day, all the ease of setup in the world wouldn't matter if they sounded bad. These speakers have yet to disappoint me. ... Read more

Let's look at the key competition: The Logitech X-220 has just a 2" driver in each satellite, while the T2900 has a 2.5" midrange driver and a tweeter. (Not to mention the fact that the X-220's satellites look like little plastic mushrooms). The Altec 221 has just a 4" woofer (while the T2900 has a 5.25" woofer), and much lower power. The T2900 also has a cool wired controller, with power/volume, bass level, a headphone jack, a line-in, and Creative's special port for connecting a MuVu NX MP3 player. Plus, with the metal stands, they look really good (especially with the grills off). [...- I talked to Creative's customer support people, and they say that out of the many thousands of these systems that have been sold, they've had a grand total of four defective units returned. Hardly a "plethora" ...]
The satellites themselves are nice and clear. I keep the bass volume level at about 20 percent and the speaker volume at about 30 percent. The volume control is pretty sensitive which shows exactly how how much power is being pumped out by this system. I recommend these.. and for this price, this is a great buy.
I oringinally purchased a set of the Logitech X-220's and while I am a big Logitech fan for most of their products I had to return these because the satellites just didn't produce a clean enough sound. The highs were fuzzy and muted and didn't give me the range of sound that I needed. In all fairness the bass was strong, deep and loud, but it just wasn't enough to compensate for the poor satellites. I also listened to the Cyber Acoustics A3640s. These have a huge 10" subwoofer which really packs a punch. I might have purchased these had there not been a set of the T2900s right next to them. In a side by side comparison the Creative speakers won out with their clear, full, rich sound. I guess if you're really only concerned with the amount of bass you can squeeze out of your system the Cyber Acoustics might be the better choice but the T2900's also have plenty of bass (I have found a good balance between sats and sub at 15-20% of sub volume). The only problem I can see (and why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars - wish there was a 4.5) is that if you turn the sub up very loud and then turn the main system volume way up the sub starts to struggle a little. It gets somewhat distorted and boomy. But this doesn't bother me because the volume has to be VERY loud, in fact it is uncomfortable for me to be in the same room. The bass sounds wonderful if you set the sub to around 20%. This will give you a good balance between the sub and the satellites. Overall, this is the most balanced system I found in this price range. The bass is tight and rich, the satellites produce beautiful, warm mid-tones and clean, clear, highs. There is plenty of volume especially if you're sitting close to them like I am. I love the control pod, its so nice not to have to reach behind the sub to adjust its volume. I do have to agree with some of the other reviewers that the pod feels a little cheap but I'll just be gentle with it. If you're looking for a great sounding budget speaker system and have a critical ear look no further, these are the right choice.
