Amazon.com Product Description

Ready to turn any apartment or dormitory into a dance club or concert hall, Sony's 3-piece MHC-GX250 stereo packs a rafter-rattling 140 watts per channel through a hefty pair of 3-way, dual-woofer speakers. You get a 3-CD changer with play exchange (so you can swap two discs while a third is playing) and compatibility with not only homemade CD-R and CD-RW discs. The dual-well cassette deck offers full-logic performance and the FM/AM radio boasts 30 station presets (20 FM, 10 AM) for ultimate tuning convenience.

A cool feature called Game Sync mixes the sound from the system's front-panel audio/video inputs with the sound of your favorite music--whether from CD, MP3 CD, cassette, or radio--so you're not forced to choose between game sound and music listening. You can have either one--or both. Maintain a composite-video connection between the stereo and your television, and you'll have instant video access right from the unit's front panel.

You'll find no cheap up/down volume buttons here--the MHC-GX250 sports an easy-to-grab, illuminated center volume knob that goes all the way up. Other great features include shuffle, program, and repeat CD playback, CD synchro recording, a bright, easy-to-read, color fluorescent display, and a Remote Commander remote control to keep you in full couch-potato mode.

Extensive audio processing enhancements include Sony's Groove bass enhancement circuit, as well as 8 preset equalizer curves with 3-band parameter adjustments to heighten the power of your music or tailor the sound for a specific location. Further, Direct A/V EQ adds 16 preset equalizer settings that cater to music (Pop, Rock, Soul, Oriental, Dance, Jazz, etc), movies (Drama, Action, and Musical), and games (Arcade, Adventure, and Racing).

Direct AV EQ also lets you store customized settings in three personal files. And, if that's not enough, the system even simulates surround sound for spacious music or movie effects. Finally, VACS (Variable Attenuation Control System) is designed to ensure superb clarity, even at high volume levels, preventing amplifier "clipping" and its consequent distortion.

Amazon.com Product Description

Affordable listening doesn't get much sweeter than Sony's CFD-S300 CD/radio cassette recorder. The compact unit packs stereo 4-inch speakers driven by a 2.3 watts per channel, its digital AM/FM stereo tuner offers 30 station presets (20 FM, 10 AM), and a pivoting carry handle makes it easy to tote.

A slim remote control simplifies listening, and various CD play modes (program/shuffle/repeat) let you hear tracks in multiple ways: in sequence (as recorded), in program order (up to 20 tracks), all tracks randomly (shuffle), or as a single track repeating over and over.

The CD player uses a one-bit digital-to-analog audio converter with 8x oversampling for pristine sound, and audio CD-R/CD-RW compatibility means the boombox will play your home-brewed music mixes as well as prerecorded CDs. A Mega Bass setting enhances low-frequencies, while 10 direct-access buttons on the face of the unit put rapid tuning and track selection literally at your fingertips.

With synchronized CD/cassette dubbing, CD playback commences just after cassette recording begins. The stereo record/playback cassette deck provides direct recording from either the tuner, the CD player. The unit runs on the supplied AC power cord or six D batteries. The remote uses 2 AAA batteries (no batteries are included).

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent little player with some quirks
How much you like Sony's new flash-memory Network Walkmans is going to depend on what you use them for. I use mine to load seven or eight CDs onto for jogging, walking, and for my car. If you have a large collection of MP3s and other formats you want to load on and off of it, you might find another player that suits your needs.

Ripping CDs to Sony's ATRAC3 format at fairly low bit-rates sounds pretty darn good for such a small player, not to mention that ATRAC is a gapless format, which is excellent for dj-mix CDs, live albums, and so on. MP3s, however, occasionally crop up with some weird digital artifacts that I've noticed. It doesn't ruin them by any means, it's just up to you as to how good you want your MP3s to sound. Like other reviewers have said, though, the sound (regardless of format) is a little muffled. However, Sony was smart enough to allow users to adjust bass and treble levels on the unit (and save two seperate presets!). Cranking the treble to max remedies the muffled sound to a large degree, creating a very bright sound, if not exactly a colorful one.

Besides saving your own sound adjustments, the unit also lets you browse tracks on the player by "groups" (albums, playlists, etc.), which is very handy. Playback features are numerous, and let you shuffle songs by group, or every song, plus a variety of repeat options. The display is even customizable. One minor issue is the tricky hold/group slider and the sunken menu buttons on the back, but for a player this size there's probably not too much they could do. The rocking-faceplate buttons, hoever, are a neat trick. As for Sony's SonicStage software, at least it's semi-intuitive; I've seen a lot worse (ahem, Rio).

My 20GB Karma ruined me for features a lot of other hard drive (let alone flash) players didn't give you. Surprisingly, my little Network Walkman can keep up, with gapless playback, customizable sound, and excellent battery life, not to mention how cool it looks. Any one who is looking for a fun, inexpensive way to carry around some of their favorite tracks would do well to pick one of these guys up.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent little player better than Shuffle
I wanted to buy a small, flash-based music player primarily for jogging and taking to the gym, so naturally I compared the 2 premier products out right now, Sony PSYC vs. Ipod Shuffle. The PSYC comes out on top in SO many ways.

1) LCD screen a huge plus for navigating through albums and artists. Shuffle has no screen.
2) Tremendous amount of features for such a little player, such as shuffle, repeat, browse by artist or browse by song, sound equalizer...all intuitive to use. By contrast, the Shuffle practically forces you to play your songs on random. Looking for that favorite album? Good luck finding it with the shuffle.
3) ATRAC3Plus coding allows you to store MANY more songs in 512 MB compared to Apple's AAC. 64 kbs in ATRAC3Plus provides excellent sound quality, even through stock ear phones.
4) 1 AAA battery = 70 hours! That means no need to constantly have to plug the blasted Shuffle into your computer to recharge everyday.

Sony has made an excellent product here, not to mention one that is very asthetically pleasing. You want substance AND style, get the PSYC.

4-0 out of 5 stars Cool and easy
After looking at Ipod shuffle, I opted for the PSYC at a few bucks less. It holds more songs if you use Sony's ATRAC system and has more navigation options than the Ipod. The sound quality is great even on the supplied earbuds. The software is easy to use, though the translations from Japanese can be strange in the instruction manuals. It runs on a single AAA battery for lots of hours, no worry about recharging. It also looks a lot neater than Ipod and not everyone is carring one, yet. Great LCD display. All in all a good buy.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully lightweight and amazing battery life
Sony calls this new line of flash-based, coin-like (but they are thick coins!) MP3/ATRACT players the Psycs, and their new-age styling does psyc you out.Which is not a bad thing, as they are more euro-cool than the rather bland and boring iPod and the downright butt-ugly iRiver. The more I look at the Psyc, the more I like its looks.

The new Psyc MP3 player features 512MB of flash memory, which is great for those of you jogger jocks out there. You can shake this thing violently and it won't skip a beat, unlike those hard drive-based players. Before you insert an AAA battery, the Psyc weighs in at an amazingly light 0.9 oz. -- that's right, folks, it's less than an ounce! With the AAA battery, my guess is it's about 2 oz.It's very small although, relatively speaking, it looks a little thick.(About 0.75 in. at its thickest part.)

What, you ask, it uses an AAA battery?Yes my friend, and this one AAA alkaline battery can power the player up to 70 hours! That's almost three full days of continuous playing. The phrase "up to" here means that in order to get all 70 hours of playing, you must 1) play ATRAC3Plus songs encoded at 48kbps and 2) do not press buttons or do random play (i.e., just leave the player playing sequentially). In the real life we like to skip a song, fast forward, random play (a.k.a. shuffle play), turn it on and off and on and off, and most importantly, we play MP3 songs. All these operations reduce the battery life.Given my experience with previous Sony MP3 players, my estimate is one good AAA battery should last you 40 hours or more.(With my beloved Sony NW-HD3, I routinely get the advertised battery life of 30 hours even when playing MP3 files.)

Of course, the use of AAA means you get an abundant and ready supply of cheap power source, and you can trek in the Amazon for weeks on end without having to worry about finding an AC outlet.

The Psyc, which comes in three colors (green and blue for the 512MB version, and orange for the 256MB version), has a nice backlit LCD screen, so you always know what you are playing as opposed to having to guess as on some other certain MP3 player. It plays MP3 as well as Sony's ATRAC songs. If you are an ATRAC fan you'll like the sound quality of this little player; it's at least as good as Sony's MD players. For MP3's, the sound quality is a bit "muffled" compared to my NW-HD3 20GB player, but still quite good if you pair it with a good pair of headphones (i.e., ditch the stock earphones).

Sony still has a long, long way to go in the user interface department, as this has always been its weakness, whether it's digital music or digital video or anything else. The Psyc is not hard to use; its basic functions are no-brainers.But, for anything beyond play/pause/skip, its interface, whether on the unit itself or on the PC transfer side, is still not polished and was clearly designed for a Japanese audience -- Japanese consumers reportedly love to play with complicated gadgets; no surprise given how elaborate sushi-making and origami are.We American consumers like things that are elegant and simple, and Sony has a lot of room for improvement in this regard.

In short, I don't think you'll be disappointed in the new Psyc flash-based MP3 players. They are stylish and lightweight and lasts forever on cheap AAA batteries. They have good sound quality and are priced right.Just be prepared to spend some time with the manual and experimenting a little. If you are stuck, you are welcome to e-mail me at gadgester @t hotmail with your questions.

2-0 out of 5 stars Fake mp3 player!
Got mine (blue version of this) from Sonystyle.com just yesterday. After playing with it for a few hrs here are my impressions.

First and foremost the mp3 playback quality is atrocious. 128kbps files sound like 64kbps or lower. Even my no-brand-name cheap mp3/cd player has better mp3 quality.

I suspect the codec/DSP in the Sony are still designed for their propreitary ATRAC3 plus format with a secondary mp3 support. In fact converting a mp3 file to Atrac3plus (with included software) sounded better than just mp3 file. Inspite of this hassle, it was still below mp3 quality from other players.

The battery life seems to be in line with the specs listed by Sony. No complaints on that front. The backlight LCD display is a nice bonus too. The size/volume is significantly more than the iPod Shuffle.

The user interface is more loaded than such a small palyer can withstand. As a result it more cumbersome and confusing than Apple/iRiver players.

In short this awkwardly named "mp3" music player is a step in right direction for Sony but is still below average. Price is right but not the quality. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A1 DVD Player
I recently purchased this DVD since mine broke, and this thing is nothing short of amazing.I had an older Sony dvd player I got in 2000 and it finally went, and after having so many years out of my first Sony dvd player I thought I should stick with them, and I am glad they did.First off when it says it plays all those formats it really does.I have burnt DVDs along with some VCD and SVCD and it never flinched at any of them. Also the startup time and the disc recognition time is very quick.Plus on top of everything else for all this the item costs roughly $75, and to think my first Sony was $299.99 and it wouldn't play anything but store bought CDs or DVDs.If you are looking into DVD players in this price range I highly reccomend anyone purchasing this, you will not regret it. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Idea!
Ok, so I go into Best Buy to buy this thing which I bought for my son and have no idea what it does. So when I get it home, he takes his Memory Stick from his camera and sricks it into the reader. He has to do a project for school so he saves his project onto the stick, takes it to school, prints it out, and he gets it. Good idea if you don't want to spend huge $$$ for flash drives. ... Amazon.com Product Description

Dive headlong into the 21st century with Sony's Hi-Scan KD-30XS955 FD (flat display) Trinitron WEGA television, which features a built-in HDTV tuner for high-quality, off-air reception of high-definition broadcasts, right out of the box. The 30-inch widescreen set also offers analog and digital high-definition inputs, great audio features, and a suite of picture-enhancing technologies. Whether you're watching VHS tapes, DVDs, or off-air high-definition (480p, 720p, 1080i) broadcasts, your programs will look breathtakingly good. A Memory Stick media slot with JPEG/MPEG-1/MP3 compatibility simplifies playback of video clips, MP3 music files, and still pictures from compatible cameras and music players.

DRC--Digital Reality Creation MultiFunction circuitry--upconverts standard interlaced (480i) video sources to 960i or progressive-scan 480p, while inputs as high-quality as 720p (720 lines, progressively scanned) are upsampled to full 1080i. Because DRC processes video signals in real time, it creates an image with 4 times the density of the original signal.

Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p and 720p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. The set's auto 16:9 enhanced mode detects anamorphically encoded widescreen program sources and offers full picture resolution on the video program, wasting none of its usable lines of resolution on the black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.

The KD-30XS955's high-voltage regulator maintains consistent image size, despite variations in b rightness during scene changes and channel changes.

ClearEdge VM wideband velocity modulation improves the definition at picture edges, creating sharper images by slowing the CRT (cathode-ray tube) beam's horizontal scanning during demanding work--say, when rendering transitions from light to dark parts of an image--and speeding it up when scanning easily rendered sections, like broad dark areas. The set's 3D digital comb filter compares each horizontal scanning line with the lines above and below it, as well as with the corresponding lines on previous and subsequent video frames. This results in higher horizontal resolution, higher vertical resolution, and reduced video noise.

The KD-30XS955 also employs CineMotion Reverse 3-2 PullDown technology (often called 3:2 pulldown), a handy feature for watching progressive-scan movies in their native 24-frame format. Digital video mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture.

Finally, Dynamic Focus circuitry automatically adjusts the picture during each scanning line for consistent corner-to-corner sharpness. Authorized CableCARD ability means the set will receive digital cable television systems services directly from a cable operator without requiring a bulky, external cable box.

Two high-definition component-video inputs grant optimum connection with a DTV receiver and progressive-scan DVD player, while standard composite- and S-video inputs accommodate all DVD players. The set's HDMI interface provides a digital connection with your DTV receiver. HDMI supports standard-definition (SD), enhanced definition (ED), or high-definition (HD) video, plus multichannel digital audio--all using a single cable.

Choose between rear AV inputs and a set of front AV inputs for extra convenience. A rear AV output offers a switchable fixed- and variable-level analog audio output for hookup with a surround receiver or integrated amplifier.

The set features stereo speakers with BBE sound enhancement, 7.55 watts per channel, and a separate, 15-watt subwoofer for full bass sound right from the television. If you don't have Dolby Pro Logic processing or a surround speaker system, the TV's SRS TruSurround will simulate surround sound through any 2 speakers.

Other video technologies include Dynamic Picture Processor circuitry, Trinitone color temperature control, and vertical aperture compensation.

5-0 out of 5 stars I have had no problems
I bought this drive even though another review stated that the software was nothing but a pain. I installed the drive and I am using the software that was already installed for the CD/DVD burner that came with the computer. I did NOT install the software that came with the drive, I just allowed Windows to recognize the drive and install it's own drivers. That, and software I purchased for making cd's and such, and I am a VERY happy camper.

The drive has been working fine for over a month. We burn CD's on it. We use it as a source drive when we need to copy one of our homemade DVDs. It is working flawlessly.

I recommend this drive if you are comfortable with doing the install yourself. I can offer no opinion on the Sony supplied software, as I simply don't use it.

1-0 out of 5 stars One headache after another....
Don't bother wasting your money, or your time intstalling it. Had nothing but problems with the software that came with the hardware. ... Read more

Sony's WM-EX190 stereo cassette player is portable enough, and, at under half a pound, light enough to go anywhere you do. Sony's Mega Bass Sound System produces deep, rich bass to enliven appropriate music, an anti-rolling mechanism maintains stable tape speed to minimize music-distorting "wow and flutter" while the player is in motion.

The player's automatic volume limiter system (AVLS) maintains an even volume level, guarding against unintended level increases and evening the output of musical passages that vary widely in level. Automatic shut-off (in playback mode) extends battery life and helps prevent both mechanical and tape wear by turning off unit at the end of each tape side.

Supplied MDR (Micro Dynamic Receiver)-type over-ear headphones offer wide dynamic range and clear sound, and the unit also comes with a handy belt clip. Two AA batteries provide up to 24 hours (maximum, using Sony Alkaline batteries) of continuous tape playback.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Sweet Little TV!
If you are looking for a great little TV with an awesome picture and excellent sound, this is it!
The picture is incredibly sharp with terrific color. The speakers offer high quality stereo sound and hold up even when the volume is cranked.
I also really love the wide variety of menu options available from color, to your favorite channel selections, to tilt correction. I especially like the XDS feature that allows you to see what program is on and the time remaining just by clicking the display button.
The remote is small and simple which I find very convenient.
Lastly, it was very easy to set up and program. It took just a couple of minutes and I was watching my favorite shows.
I compared this to a Toshiba 14" 14AF44 as well as other leading brand 13" and 14" TV's. The Toshiba's picture quality was no where near as sharp as the Sony's nor did it have the color quality. The sound in the Toshiba was also not as crisp. In addition, the Toshiba had a remote that looked like it could operate a space station - talk about overkill! The other leading brands were not even contenders b/c the picture quality and sound could not compare to the Sony.
The only negative thing I can say about the Sony is that it was definitely the most expensive TV of all the ones that I reviewed. For example, it was about $50.00 more than the Toshiba. However, I am extremely happy with my Sony and I feel it was definitely worth the extra money!

1-0 out of 5 stars This Television broke after 13 months minimal use!

Amazon.com Product Description

Sony's TCM-200DV cassette recorder offers a multitude of features which make it an excellent choice for a cassette voice recorder. The two channel, one track recorder promises accurate recording. For recording ease, Sony has installed double recording time and voice operated recording. The double recording time gives you the option of recording at a standard speed, or at half the standard speed, essentially giving you double the recording space. With voice operated record, you no longer have to worry about constantly shutting off and switching on the record button; with the first hint of sound, the TCM-200DV will begin recording. Sony's Sony-Matic automatic recording level control will keep your recordings at one constant level. Play-back editing or transcribing becomes more useful with this feature. If the internal microphone doesn't support your recording needs, simply plug in an external mic into the mic jack.

An essential playback feature is the playback speed control. With this adjustment, you can adjust the speed between thirty percent of normal and negative fifteen percent of normal. This is a great tool for those transferring interviews or lectures. If you find yourself fighting to hear the cassette player via the built-in speaker, plug earphones into the recorder and your troubles will be lessened. In fact, Sony has installed a L/R monaural earphone jack for clear and unobstructed hearing.

There are two options in powering this recorder. The first is an optional AC adaptor. If batteries are more useful, use the required two AA batteries; these batteries will run for up to twenty-five hours. With the LED battery level indicator you can be watchful of remaining battery time. With automatic shut-off, you can be assured that you will not be wasting batteries needlessly.

Other features include: clear voice recording system, cue and review, pause switch, stop/pause release function. The recorder's color is silver.

4-0 out of 5 stars average
i'm a 17 year old filipino student writer/filmmaker and when an idea pop into my mind, im always armed with a pen and paper to write my ideas and to review it later. there were also times when pen and paper are not appropriate, while in the bath, while sitting at the toilet, while walking, etc. so I decided to buy a voice recorder to record my ideas everywhere and anytime. I'm considering a digital voice recorder but it is out of my budget. microcassettes however are good and small in size but it cant be played in ordinary cassette players. i originally bought a cheap 375 pesos or about $6 Platinum cassette recorder but the microphone is so bad so i needed a replacement. im considering an aiwa model with Voice activated recording, 2x recording time and a tape counter for about 34 dollars but because of sony's clear voice recording, i got this tcm-200dv tape recorder for 36 dollars. i really love the cool features such as 2x recording time, speed control VOR or Voice activated Recording, Clear Voice system which filters sound to make it more audible and its design. the microphone in the aiwa model is positioned in the hood of the recorder which is very bad because you cant direct the microphone to the sound source you want; sony however, positioned it excellently in the body facing up so you can direct it easily to the sound source. the VOR also is nice but it needs a litte practice to use and is so sensitive. the only thing lacking in this product is a tape counter. the recording is excellent and you can use it on meetings and during class because the mic is sensitive enough to "hear" sounds from a distance. overall, i recommend this product for students and professionals. you will really deserve what you pay for.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good For Class & Mtg Lectures
I use this for class to record lectures. I sit in the front and I pick up adequate amplification. However, if someone in the 4th through 6th row asks a question, it is a difficult to hear. During playback, I have to turn up the volume on those sections.

A few things I wish I had were
* a LED light signalling that I was recording. I have accidently forgotten to press the record button and just hit play. So, I have dead air.
*Auto shutoff when I am recording and get to the end of the tape. It doesn't shut off and it makes this screeching (but not too loud) noise when it hits the end of the tape. Which is kind of embarrasing. i have to pay attention to where the tape is at, which you can see through the window.
* It doesn't have a counter on it, so if I am taking notes, I can't write down the position I am at during the note taking.

Yet, for the price, I got what I paid for. It is a decent recorder. I have no complaints, only suggestions I want to get when I upgrade to another recorder.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good for voice
I got this recorder to tape rehearsals with my band. Unfortunately, it's not well suited to that purpose--both settings on the microphone are too sentitive to record such loud sounds as drums and amplified guitar. For lecture recording and other similar purposes, though, it seems like this would work really well. It's a good recorder, just not what I was looking for. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

Sony's affordable SA-WM250 powered subwoofer is capable of delivering an astonishingly large portion of the emotional impact of both music and movie sound. The 8-inch sub uses a long-throw woofer and offers 100 watts of clarity and stability--and you can place it just about anywhere in the room since human ears are so much less sensitive to directionality in low-frequency sounds than high-frequency sounds. Its ported (bass-reflex) enclosure reinforces low-end output. The speaker is finished in black-ash wood.

When used in conjunction with smaller, bookshelf-type speakers, the subwoofer extends system capability to full-range frequency response. With larger, floorstanding speakers, the sub helps shoulder the burden of reproducing low-frequency information, and its variable crossover (50 to 200 Hz) lets you scale its output to cover only frequencies deeper than those most efficiently reproduced by your speakers in your room (rooms have a huge effect on audible bass response).

The SA-WM250 offers inputs for either line- (RCA) or speaker-level (clip-type) inputs. That means you have the choice of running a dedicated subwoofer cable (supplied) from your surround receiver's subwoofer preamp output (for authentic .1 effects from 5.1- or 6.1-channel programs) or from you level-dependent speaker outputs (speaker wire also included).

The sub's video shielding means you can place it near or under a TV or computer monitor without risk of video distortion from magnetic interference.

3-0 out of 5 stars Expectations met.
This has decent sound for a clock radio and the display is large and bright. It has a simple appearance which I like. There are no birdsongs or gushing water sounds.

4-0 out of 5 stars not bad, but Amazon's Item Description is BS
...there is no digital tuner so no 5 station presets; no "birdsong, gushing river" or any other nature sounds; no headphone jack; and sure as heck no freakin' subwoofer (not that any subwoofer small enough to fit in a clock radio wouldn't sound like crap)!WAKE UP, Amazon, and check your facts!!!

However other than that, this is the best fifty dollar CD clock radio on the market (which says a lot about how sad the CD clock radio market is, at that). For one thing, it actually has a fairly attractive (or at the very least, inoffensive) form factor, compared to the gaudy-colored cutesy round models Sony and other makers have come out with in the past---are these industrial designers smoking crack or what?

Also I was impressed at how easy all the controls were to use---didn't even have to look at the instructions, it was that intuitive and also very ergonomic. This is about the main thing that Sony still does better than anyone else, provide ease of use.The green LED display is just the right size and brightness, and a big improvement over the horrible backlit LCD displays that many other clock radios have. There is an external FM antenna that helps somewhat---better would've been a detachable external antenna so you could hook up a better one to it.The adjustable "nap" timer is a very handy feature, as was the wake-to-CD alarms (2 of them) allowingyou to choose which track you want to wake up to on the CD.I just use George Winston's "Winter" CD, it's nice and soothing.Even the buzzer on this thing is fairly pleasant.

I bought this mainly because I was tired of being jolted every morning by my Phillips clock radio's air-raid siren of a buzzer, and also because my city (Houston) has the absolute crappiest FM stations you could imagine.

What I really wish though is that Sony, Panasonic and other audio makers would just start putting alarm clocks in their minisystems so you could wake up to some half-decent sound quality music. This Sony is still way better than the Timex (hopeless!), Emerson, and other cheap generic garbage that Walmart sells but what can you really expect from tiny 1 watt per channel speakers?

Keep your expectations low though and this clock radio won't be too bad.I still could never bring myself to fork over three hundred bucks for the Cambridge cd clock radio.

What I really wish this clock radio had:1.a 9V battery backup like my Phillips had, 2. having the CD, radio, or buzzer gradually increase in volume early in the morning, 3. MP3 capability (the box says it can play CD-Rs but don't know which format exactly), and ESPECIALLY 5. a headphone jack so that I could hook up this thing to some cheap self-powered computer speakers which would be a HUGE sound quality improvement.

3-0 out of 5 stars Don't believe the ads for this item
The description of this product claims it will wake you up with a buzzer, radio, CD, or "the sounds of birdsong or a rushing river".It also claims to have 5 station presets, which implied to me that it must have a digital tuner.Neither claim is true. The fancy wakeup sounds don't exist and the tuner is the inferior analog style with a big dial and pointer that really can't pull in a clean FM station.Needless to say, there are no preset buttons.

On a positive note, it's a pretty good sounding small CD player and the clock has nice big numbers. But I was hoping to have a nice radio also -( ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

Enjoy the biggest games, the prettiest nature specials, and the most exhilarating Hollywood extravaganzas on this Sony 50-inch flat-panel plasma TV. The unit features a thin (4.25 inches) glass panel design that strikingly complements a living room while taking up a minimum of space. In addition, the TV's 1,365 x 768 resolution is sharp and impressive, broadcasting high-definition ATSC/QAM content along with regular digital and standard NTSC fare. The TV's WEGA engine employs Direct Digital Circuitry, which ensures rich, natural-looking images from any source, along with Digital Reality Creation technology, which doubles the pixels on each scan line (vertical and horizontal) to create a screen with four times the density. Meanwhile, the TV's two built-in NTSC tuners and single ATSC tuner coordinate with the picture-in-picture function to let viewers watch two programs from different sources (480i, 480p, 1080i, or 720p) either side by side or in an inset window.

Movie aficionados will appreciate the CineMotion technology, which automatically converts film content via the 3:2 pulldown process for smoother-looking DVD images, along with the 16:9 enhanced aspect ratio, which maximizes the picture resolution for widescreen sources, such as select DVDs. The TV also supports high-definition D-VHS content through the i.Link input, along with prerecorded digital photos using the Advanced Memory Stick portal. Other features include color temperature adjustment, Steady Sound volume leveling, closed captioning, a multilanguage onscreen display, auto channel programming, a two-event clock timer, a favorite channel function, V-chip parental control, and a sleep timer.

The TV's audio supports include a 30-watt speaker system (15 watts x 2) and TruSurround surround sound, along with a virtual surround effect that delivers the performance of multichannel audio through a two-speaker setup. Viewers seeking the highest possible clarity from their movies can hook up their DVD players through the two component video inputs, while HD users can take advantage of the DVI-HDTV interface. The TV also includes one front and two rear S-video inputs, one front and two rear video inputs, one front and five rear audio inputs, one front and two rear i.Link inputs, one optical output, one Control-S input and one output, one fixed/variable audio output, and one subwoofer output.

Amazon.com Product Description

Behind its stylish, arcing chassis, Sony's KV-36FS320 36-inch FD (flat display) Trinitron WEGA television houses a wealth of video technologies that work in tandem to produce sharp, vivid pictures from a range of sources. The set offers high image accuracy, wide viewing angles, and corner-to-corner detail with no geometric image distortion. The visually flat FD Trinitron tube minimizes annoying glare from light sources, enhancing contrast. Squares are square, straight lines appear straight, and circles are truly circular.

A Memory Stick port lets you view onscreen JPEG images right off your compatible digital camera. One of the KV-36FS320's coolest features is its 16:9 enhanced mode, which delivers maximum picture quality by concentrating all viewable scan lines within a letterboxed image--wasting none of its horizontal resolution on rendering the black bars that border a widescreen image.

Clear Edge VM wideband velocity modulation improves definition at picture edges, creating sharper images by slowing the CRT (cathode-ray tube) beam's horizontal scanning during demanding work--say, when rendering transitions from light to dark parts of an image--and speeding it up when scanning easily rendered sections, like broad dark areas.

The set's digital comb filter removes blurred edges between colors and reduces dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a character's striped T-shirt), while magnetic quadra-pole technology reduces "beam spot" distortion and improves corner-to-corner focus and picture sharpness.

Program Palette presets offer combinations of picture settings engineered to make the most of specific entertainment types. Settings include vivid, standard, movie, and sports. Channel fix lets you select a specific TV channel (3, for example) for cable box reception. Then you can control a compatible cable box via the TV remote without inadvertently changing the TV from Channel 3.

A pair of top-of-the-line component-video inputs (Y/PB/PR) minimize digital and line-scan artifacts from compatible video sources, while standard composite- and S-video inputs accommodate all DVD players. A coaxial RF input accepts a feed from an antenna or an older VCR or cable box. Choose from 2 sets of rear AV inputs and a set of front AV inputs for extra convenience when hooking up a camcorder or gaming console. A rear AV output facilitates hookup with a VCR, DVR, or surround receiver.

The set produces stereo audio and BBE sound enhancement with 10 watts per channel through its built-in speakers. SRS WOW technology simulates surround sound through any 2 speakers.

Other video technologies include auto white balance (which establishes the picture's tint, or hue, by adjusting sensitivity to red, green, and blue light, resulting in truer whites), Dynamic Picture Processor circuitry, tilt correction, Trinitone color temperature control, and vertical aperture compensation (which sharpens picture definition and edge detail on the vertical plane). You can label the set's video inputs and channels for easy selection.
