5-0 out of 5 stars Family Guy on the go.
When PSP comes out, you can put this Memory card in and store a ton of video, music and photos. Not to mention game saves and downloadable content. It's awesome to have family guy or kill bill on the go but its not for the people who suck at technology. You have to rip the shows off DVDs and then convert it to mp4 which is a process that many are probably unable to do. If you read a tutorial it's pretty easy but timeconsuming and tedious. If you have the diligence to convert the videos, it's awesome to watch shows in the car on the beautiful PSP screen. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't bother ordering here. Item sent not as advertised-
Pictured is the Olympus-branded xD memory card. Right? Same is also pictured on the printed SanDisk insert. But, what you'll actually get is the Fuji-branded xD memory card which is cheaper because it is specifically NOT panoramic capable.

Item appears to have been switched by either Amazon or it's source and plastic re-sealed bu glue or heat.

Someone trying to "stick" Amazon with a swap? Possible. I sent a note to Customer Service to alert them of the error. They said "sorry" from India and would correct and resend. Guess what....I got another pack with the same erroneous Fuji memory card.

In my book, this is called "bait and switch" and I believe it's illegal in most States. Do I dare let Amazon "fix" this error again? What do you think?

1-0 out of 5 stars xD Picture Cards - EL STINKO
The mfgr's promo text says it's fast, but anyone who's ever done even an informal test knows it's dog-slow. In fact, xD is THE slowest-reading/writing media still developed. It's also one of the (if not THE) most expensive per MB, along with Sony's "Memory Stick" (now branching out into even more costly "Pro", "Secure" and "Select" subformats, hopefully helping to wake Sony-worshipers up (Sony is no longer king, folks; the 90's are LONG over. Keep an eye on Samsung - but that's another review - for the best these days).

xD's one benefit: It's small; almost TOO small, and really easy to lose, only coming in black. Fuji and Olympus are the ones to blame, clearly hoping to retain unwitting users who end up forced into xD's incompatibility and expense with one of many xD-only digicams.

Oddly enough, Secure Digital (SD) is almost as small, and is one of the FASTEST reading and writing formats in active development. Lots of cameras, MP3 players and other media devices use SD. What uses xD Picture Cards? Cameras. Fuji and Olympus cameras, to be exact. Nothing else of any real popularity. Apparently there's a lot of camera newbies who don't realize they got humped into a format that has no good reason to exist.

Advice: If you've got an Olympus/Fuji camera, grab a 256MB card when they go on sale somewhere with a hefty rebate (or two, as mentioned in a previous review, in order to avoid placing all your digital eggs in a single proprietary, slow and expensive xD-basket) for about $70 or so each (as of 5-2004) and you and your camera will be happy for a while.

As soon as you go shopping for another camera, look for fast and cheap media support from mfgrs that attract customers with innovation and performance instead of has-beens like the ones who rope the ill-informed and then attempt to chain them up in the backyard using format-inertia. As an illustration of faith in their format, even Olympus and Fuji know better than to cripple their top-quality Prosumer/SLR digicams with the all-around speed and price loser that is xD. If that doesn't say something to you, you're not listening... Have a goot one!

5-0 out of 5 stars Rate the product, not the service or price!
The xD format is an excellent option for digital camera storage. Why? Speed/Size/Storage Capacity

The xD-Picture Card has one of the fastest read/write speeds on the market. Higher speeds can greatly enhance the user's experience with a product. For example, a photographer can take new pictures or view existing images more quickly with the xD-Picture Card media than with other, slower media formats.

The xD-Picture Card was designed to use minimal power. Users will benefit from the convenience and savings of longer battery life on a single charge.

Small size (about the size of a penny), means smaller devices with lots of storage (512MB available now and plans to go to 8GB!)

I like this format (I've used CF and SmartMedia) and appreciate new technology.

1-0 out of 5 stars Shipped wrong product & didn't refund shiping
I ordered the 512M xD when it was cheaper than the current price, but they shipped me a 256M card instead. They said that it was a price mistake and to return the product for a full refund, which was find with me, but they did not refund the shipping! I can understand if I ordered the wrong product, but this was their error yet they still expect me to pay for their mistake?!

3-0 out of 5 stars More poor service
I just went looking for the status on my order and found it had disappeared - I never even received an email that they were canceling my order. I can understand their pricing policy, but it sure would have been nice if they had communicated that it had been an error. The price they had online was comparable to other memory like Compact Flash so it appeared that it was a good deal, not a price mistake. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Not A Bad Product, But Has Some Flaws
I received this memory/wifi card as a wedding gift last year so that I could use it with my Compaq iPAQ 3765. It installed properly on the iPAQ as well as my Toshiba laptop. I have never had a problem connecting to my Linksys WRT54G 802.11g/b router. The installation process itself was pretty straightforward and simple.

Now, I did have a problem installing it onto my new HP iPAQ 2215, which I purchased a week ago. The PocketPC 2002 driver included with the card will not work with Windows Mobile 2003 for PocketPC. SanDisk does have the 2003 drivers on their website, but as someone mentioned, there is no user guide to aid you with the new driver. After trying several times to install the card, I had to perform a hard reset and installed the card before installing anything else and setting up my activesync partnership.

The other thing I do not like about this card as someone mentioned, is that with Windows Mobile 2003, you cannot turn off the wi-fi part of the card and just access the flash memory. This will drain more battery power from my iPAQ than I would like. Hopefully, SanDisk will resolve this issue.

Other than that, this wi-fi card has been working great for me. I actually just used it in New York City and was able to locate several access points at Chelsea Piers on the West Side and access the internet. Overall, a good product in my opinion with a couple of flaws.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good card. Just needs more utils.
I've had this card for a couple of weeks now. I did a lot of review reading before I got it and thought I'd add my 2 cents now. The card installed fine on my iPAQ 2215. Just make sure you go to the Sandisk website and get the right drivers 1st. Don't use the ones on the CD. The only thing I would like to see is some more advanced network tools. Otherwise, no complaints!

5-0 out of 5 stars awsome
this thing is great i have a ipaq 3600 and it works wonders and i have no problems at all i love it i had a linksys WCF12 but it never worked right so i bought this and it was less and way better the built in 128mb is great why would you buy the others when this is the same price and you get 128mb space

2-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work with older Windows Pocket PC and Windows CE
Well, even though the card without the 128 meg of memory supports the older pocket PC versions (pre-2002), this card doesn't. I have an older HP Jornada 548, and thought I'd get a deal, since the additonal memory is basically "free". Would not install with the supplied drivers, not the driver downloaded from the SanDisk website. Also, wouldn't work with the drivers from the card w/o the memory. Had to return to Amazon.com, and order the LinkSys card...

1-0 out of 5 stars Not useful for PPC 2003
This product is crap. In PPC 2003 there is no utility to turn off the WIFI part of the card so it doesn't just sit there and drain your battery while you are using the memory portion. All the documentation included was for 2002, although there is a driver for 2003 on their website. Still doesn't include control utilites. When I called Sandisk they just said it isn't available for PPC 2003 and it was a feature in PPC 2002. They aren't interested in writing a utility themselves. So it will be useless soon as people upgrade to 2003 or buy a new pocket pc. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars It works
When I received the card, I was able to put it in the PCMCIA slot of my PowerBook G4 (running Mac OS X 10.3.3, the best operating system known to humanity so far), insert a CompactFlash card into it, and began working with the photos immediately. The OS recognized it as containing photos and started up the iPhoto application for me.

The reason I give this item only four stars is because I need to physically remove the adapter card from my computer whenever I want to change to a different CompactFlash card. It would have been nice if SanDisk had either provided an ejection mechanism or maybe just make the CF slot a little shallower so that I could grip the CF card to pull it out.

However, that's a minor inconvenience. It works 100%.

5-0 out of 5 stars Real plug and play reader
This real plug and play compact flash card reader is a must for every laptop owner. Any laptop has a PCMCIA slot, and every laptop nowadays comes with a modem , LAN , built in, so you use the PCMCIA slot for nothing, but the reader.
I usually keeps it plugged in the laptop, and take a backup for my critical files on it. With a 512 MB card, it really takes a lot, and provides me with peace of mind with an online , reliable and fast backup.
With technology, the storage capacity doubles every 12 months , and the MB/$ drops by half every 9 month. Soon, you will be able to buy a 10 GB compact flash card for the price of 512 MB nowadays. And, still , you will use the same reader !!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great CardReader. Great Price
This will be a short review. I have not had the product long, but in the time I have had it, this card reads the images so quickly and I think faster than a USB 1.0 port. Amazingly inexpensive too. Excellent buy if you have a laptop.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for transferring photos to your laptop, but ...
The SanDisk CompactFlash PC Card Adapter is a quick and easy way to transfer photos from your type I CompactFlash memory cards to laptops and other PCs with PC Card slots. The memory card simply shows up as a hard drive, allowing direct access to copy, move, and delete photos much more quickly than with the typical USB interface provided with today's digital cameras.

My only caution with these adapters is that they seem a bit delicate in terms of electronics; always be sure to stop the card services on your PC for the device before removing it from your computer, or the adapter could go "bye-bye." I've gone through two in two years (on multiple PCs) due to simply ejecting the card--upon next use, the adapter failed to work. PC Card standards supposedly allow for hot swapping, but something in these cards simply doesn't like being handled that way.

5-0 out of 5 stars I have used this product for 3 years...
I have used it with Windows ME and Windows 2000. I have downloaded thousands of pictures through it from several different brands of CompactFlash memory cards.

I have never experienced even one problem with it.

It is small and light and requires no software to operate. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Useful, but a few caveats...
Got this "free" from Amazon recently, when I bought a Sandisk CompactFlash card. As some of the other reviews said, it was easy to hook up and worked great right out of the box. However, after using it a bit more, I have come up with a couple small issues. (NOTE: I have a Canon Digital Rebel 6.3MP camera and usually shoot large JPEGs.)

- The memory card reader is relatively slow at reading the large files generated by the camera. The JPEG files from the Digital Rebel are typically between 4 and 6 MB and they can take 10-15 seconds to display. This isn't much a problem during a slide show, but when you want to jump ahead it makes it difficult because the device seems like it isn't responding. You'd think with Sandisk being the current king of fast flash, that the reader would be quicker.

- The card reader cannot (or will not) read files larger than 5.3MB. You get an error on the screen saying as much, if you try. My pictures aren't typically this big, but depending the picture they can be, which is even more irritating because some pictures from a given card will show up while others won't.

- Another warning for those that use high quality digital SLRs etc, is that this camera reads ONLY JPEG files. It does not display RAW files, nor can it extract the embedded JPEGs. Of course, I didn't expect it to do so, but this may not be clear to other potential buyers.

Obviously, I could shoot lower quality (but if I spend that much on a camera, why would I?) or I could convert the images to smaller files on the PC (but this eliminates the ease of use factor). I think if I had paid for this product rather than receiving it free, the above issues might give enough reason for me to return it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Product!
I just love this nifty little gizmo! The set-up is extremely easy-just plug it in and all necessary cables are provided. Then you just plug in your flash card (or flash stick or other-it takes several kinds) and you are now viewing your digital images on your own television! Instead of everyone standing around your small computer screen, you can see your images on your large TV screen.

You can either let the images run via the slide show, or take control and move through your images at your own pace. The remote lets you rotate pictures, and even niftier--it lets you zoom in. The zoom in feature keep the image clear.

The best feature is that you can pack this gizmo up and take it with you. We just returned from an Alaskan cruise (with a ton of digital pictures). So I took this viewer over to my parents, plugged it into their TV and they were able to see all our pictures while sitting back in their easy chairs. No photo's to pass around and around--just sit back in comfort and enjoy!

I would highly recommend this product--it's great!

1-0 out of 5 stars Broken, incompatible, unreadable menus
I use a 512MB Sandisk CF card in my Canon S45 camera. I put several pictures on the card, of varying sizes and qualities. None of them displayed onscreen, and even the Preview option showed a sort of colored fuzzed-out picture instead of a thumbnail view. This is the biggest piece of junk I have ever used, thank goodness it was free. I wonder why, they're probably unloading them, or the free ones are all secretly 'refurbished' or something. Shame on Amazon.

3-0 out of 5 stars It does NOT work with Minolta and HP formatted cards
SanDisk knows it and they are willing to replace the units with newer ones (I assume more recent firmware).
Problem is that the unsuspecting customer has to pay shipping... :(
No thanks.

Other then that, the main advantage is portability. But since my pics are almost always going to post-processing, displaying the pics directly from the CF card does not do them justice.

Cool gizmo, too pricey for the limitations (see tech data).

4-0 out of 5 stars But do you need it?
Interesting that the previous reviewer used this to view pictures taken on a Canon G3, while that camera, and many other cameras too, have the capability built in to view pictures on a television (NTSC or PAL). Also, these cameras allow you to view the videos you've taken too, whereas this device is limited to stills (JPEGs).
So, although this gadget looks good, check your camera first - you might not need this.
BTW: I gave this 4 stars based on the description (and because a rating is mandatory to submit a review) - I don't own one of these 'cos my Canon G2 connects to the TV just fine. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Corrupted before I even got the rebate
There have been many stories on the Internet about avoiding Sandisk Secure Digital cards because after using them for a short period of time, they became corrupted causing people to loose their pictures. I have a two month old 256MB Ultra II SD card that just bit the dust as well as causing me to loose everything on the card. I tried everything I could think of to revive the card, but it's stone cold dead. I've been shooting digital for nine years now and have several cameras, so I'm not a newbie. To Sandisk's credit, they are providing a prepaid FedEx label (though I still have to drive to the FedEx station), but I was told it would take 3-4 weeks before I received a new card. This is far too long to wait so I'll be looking at other brands before considering another Sandisk product.

1-0 out of 5 stars LASTED 3 WEEKS - BEWARE
I also have problems with this card. I used it in ZIO USB reader/writer and it didn't work. Then my camera started acting up, and finally card is not recognized in a Minolta camera. I will return it ASAP. BEWARE!

1-0 out of 5 stars DOES NOT WORK IN KODAK DX6490 ! !
This card might be fast, but it DOES NOT WORK IN KODAK CAMERAS,
and probably others. I called KODAK, and they said it is not within spec. for digital cameras. Maybe other gear?
BEWARE ! ! If you have one, return it as defective to AMAZON.
They stand behind their products (but need to stop selling this one). Try the LEXAR 32X SD CARD from AMAZON. I hear it works.(mine will be here Monday)

1-0 out of 5 stars Lasted a day
I used this card with a SanDisk ImageMate USB 2.0 reader/writer and a Palm Tungsten T3 (with the SD patch applied). After a day of use, the card was no longer recognized by the Palm or PC. I've returned the card. I'm going to try the equivalent Panasonic SD card.

1-0 out of 5 stars UPDATE: Card died on me!
I originally wrote a positive review about the card, but perhaps a little too soon. I've had this less than a week and hardly used it....and now it's dead. Camera says "unable to use," and my PC doesn't recognize it anymore. I just read several negative reviews for the Ultra II Compact Flash version, so I'm not surprised the SD cards are duds too. Returning mine for refund. ... Read more
