Fast with shortcomings
The 730B is very bright and responsive, no doubts about that. There is essentially no difference between a CRT monitor and this screen when it comes to speed. Colors are vivid and the screen can be set to be very bright; black is deep and not washed out.

My unit has a rather noticeable vertical gradient (colors are a bit washed out at the bottom, and a bit darker a the top of the screen). The top and bottom edges of the screen also show "arcs" of backlight, which are annoying when watching widescreen movies (the black bands at the top and bottom of the frame are not completely black).

The viewing angle is acceptable horizontally (a yellow cast is detectable when off-center) and vertically (a darkening is detectable when off-center); viewing does extend to the claimed 160 degrees, but at the expense of image quality.

Unlike what Samsung says on its website, this model does not come with a DVI cable in the box (at least in the USA), only with a VGA cable.

Recommended as a "value" screen, but only when backed by a substantial price rebate. ... Read more

What a great deal. Klipsch Speakers compare to Bose
There is no delay, as another review claimed. (Delay is adjustable, based on speaker placement) Excellent sound reproduction. This was a good deal at $500 plus. For $299, it is a steal. Klipsh Speakers are unbeatable, even by Bose standards.

Agree on the product, but LOVE the support
Yes these particular set of speakers are not that great, sounds are shallow and lack depth that even $100 PC game system could deliver.

Like thousands other videophilles, I also am a proud owner of the 61" Samsung DLP. I must say, I (and thosands of others) seem to all agree that sammy's customer support are 5 out of 5 top notch and none better.

In this day and age, saying you will never buy samsung product is like saying you will never buy a
Porsche form that garage again because they couldn't fix your metro geo.

EDIT:
Apparently, they run special divison for their high enb products. I call in about a problem with their 400 dvd player and I was treated with the same great services as with my 5 grand TV. However, my first call was made via a google-searched 800 number, and that was horrible. If you want good service, call the speical number provided with the warrenty card. Seems they only want to roll out their "5 star support" for ones with deeper pockets.

don't waste your money on a Samsung HT-SK5
The HT-SK5 is a lemon--don't buy it. Although the sound quality is great, the audio doesn't match the video when you're using a digital input, like digital HDTV. So, the lips don't match the words on any digital stations. It made it impossible to watch any HDTV programming, which essentially was why I bought it.

After 3 months of dealing with Samsung's poor technical support, including shipping the product back to Samsung, I learned from Samsung that they can't fix the problem, and they don't have a replacement product that would work better. The only thing more frustrating than the audio sync problem was Samsung's awful technical support. The staff was poorly educated about their own products, they never returned calls or e-mail like they promised, and seemed to have no concern for their customers. Super looking monitor
As an LCD monitor, the Smsung 191T gives very crsip, bright colors. I'm connecting it analog right now, but will use DVI as soon as I get my new alienware computer. I can't comment on gaming issues yet, since I hacen't/can't play games on my current computer. I would like to give 5 stars, but my monitor actually has two "stuck on" pixels. It's not that big a deal since they're so tiny. Nevertheless, it's still disappointing. Buying LCDS in such a large screen size is pretty much hit or miss when it comes to being "perfect pixels" or having "dead pixels."

The other monitor that I was strongly considering was the 19" NEC Multisync. In general,if you are a hardcore gamer, I don't think it's ideal to play games on LCD's above 17" Still, I'm going to play games with this samsung, and when I do, I will return with another review.

Super looking monitor, part II
I am returning with my second review for this monitor, and my rating hasn't changed. But from what I have to say, maybe some of you out there may lower my rating. First, in my first review, I said that the monitor had two dead pixels. I've since found about 3 more. They don't all show up at once though. It depends on the background color of whatever you-re looking at e.g. games, web-surfing. One is always blue when it should be black. On a white background, as I type this, there's one pixel that's stuck in red. It would have been nice if the monitor was perfect with out any defects like these pixels, but I'm an easy going guy and never felt a need to return the monitor because of this.

On my old CRT monitor, I was used to having the resolution at 1024X768. Switiching to the Samsung's native 1280X1024 made things like pictures in webpages look smaller at first, but I quickly adjusted and it's no big deal. You can see more of the web page without scrolling at this resolution anyway. Other reviewers mention rotating the monitor, and yes, it comes with special software to adjust your screen when you rotate it. Unfrotunately, I haven't taken the time to learn how to rotate my monitor. The instructions come on a d CD, not a printed booklet I i wasn't able to find out how to rotate the monitor from this CD. I'm sure the insructions are in there somewhere, but i need to look harder.

Gaming: With the native resolution at 1280X1024, I prefer to leave my monitor at this setting at all times. I don't like the fuzziness of graphics/letters when shifting to other resolutions (I.e. UI'm spoiled by the sharpness of the native resolution). So, if you want to play your computer games at the native resolutioin, you need to make sure that you have a fast computer. I notice ghosting during the cutscenes of GTA3. and if I go to www.gamespot.com and scroll down a web[age, you can notice the refresh rate isn't as fast as a CRT (the screen "blinks" as you scroll). This only happenes from gamespot's website, and it's really not a big deal to me. Overall, I think the colors/graphics of games still look very nice on this monitor. Yes, CRT is sharper, but the Sam,sung comes pretty close. Plus, you save all that desk space. SO, I don't feel like going back to my old CRT (Sony 21" GDM-F500 from ~1998).

I'm happy with my purchase of this samsung.

A treat for the eyes
Nice monitor, with two interfaces (analog & dvi), easy to setup and use; no dead pixels. Brightness is perfect and contrast is nice. I recommend it.

Awesome monitor
I compared this new monitor to my old LCD 19" from NEC side by side in a dual monitor setup and I could tell the brightnes and clarity that this monitor gave over it INSTANTLY! For a 19" it looks incredibly large, out of the box and on my desk it was ready to use and play games perfectly, no ghosting at all. I highly suggest this monitor!

Nice player, but not really portable
I recently purchased the Samsung DVD-L100 "portable" DVD player.
The unit I received worked real well, with a nice clear, crisp picture and beautiful color. Also, the sound from the on-board speakers is good for a unit this size, although in a high-noise environment, headphones are recommended. The unit is a nice size that brings a 10 inch screen.

However, for all the fine work Samsung did here, the unit fails miserably in what it was intended to do, be a PORTABLE DVD player. The battery is a HUGE clunker that attached to the back and from it's size, you would think the unit would run forever on a charge. It does not. I was lucky to get 1 1/2 hours of play time before it died. Also, if you leave the battery attached without re-charging, it drains itself overnight.
This defeats the entire purpose of a portbale DVD player. A portable DVD player should be able to play for at least 4 to 5 hours on the battery charge, or it is not "portable".
An extra battery is 150 bucks! WOW! And as far as I know, there are NO extended life batteries, and the unit DOES NOT come with a car adaptor for use in the car. This unit is useless. What can be done with it other then for use in the home near an AC adaptor? For that, you can get great DVD decks for under 100 bucks.
The unit at 700 bucks, plus an extra BATTERY AT 150, PLUS OTHER GIZOMOS OR ADAPTORS FOR USE IN THE CAR, and you are over 1,000 bucks for this unit. At that price, we are approaching laptop prices.

Luckily, the dealer I bought it from allowed 30 days for a return, and mine went back today.

Like a Mini-Home Theater!
Samsung has consistently been one of the best electronic companies in the business. Their first take on the Portable DVD Player is no exception. I watch DVDs on this every night! I bought the unit about 5 months ago, and it hasn't tarnished one bit.

Let's start with the picture quality. The 10" inch screen is going to attract a lot of people. The LCD quality is bright, and radiant. It is glare-protected, and very sharp. Also has about one million pixels, making it beautiful. I'm really not kidding, this is a high-definition screen. Everyone will love the cinema mode.

The sound? Beautiful. It can hook up to a DTS connection, or a 5.1 Dolby Digital sound system. With new technology, if you plug in headphones, you actually get the 5.1 digital sound THROUGH the headphones! That means sitting on your couch, it's like a theater. I suggest watching in the dark, so it's like a real theater.

Battery is pretty impressive. I got about 3 and a half hours per charge. An extra is very expensive though.. I'm hoping my battery doesn't run out of juice any time soon.

No problems with this player. I suggest buying noise-cancelling headphones and a case logic player case for it. My personal problem with this is that I prefer the 7" - 8" screens. These are starting to feel a bit like laptops. Since I watch movies at a close range, I don't want to strain my eyes. Definately a must-buy if you have any interest in this model. Price ain't too shabby either!

Pretty Cool but Can Get Really Hot
First of all, let me say that I love my L100, I have been the envy of so many people on planes or car trips. It is a really cool and useful thing to have if you love movies and have time to waste. But there are a few things you should be aware of.

Pro's:
Huge 10'' screen, really is gigantic One of the largest on the market, I think they just came out with a 12''.
Comes with a carrying case.
Comes with AV cables to connect the dvd player to the tv.
The sound quality is great when in a quiet environment.
Plays cds, mp3s, and picture cds.
The unit itself is really small.
It has 2 headphone jacks, so that more than one person can listen.
Screen is great, and you can view it a lots of angles.

Con's:
The unit is not well ventilated and dvd processing is somewhat labor intensive so the unit becomes very hot on the bottom after about 30 minutes.
If you don't unplug the battery, it will drain all the juice, and carrying the battery around with the rest of the accessories can become a bit cumbersome.
Personally, I have gotten a good 2 1/2 hours max movie time, and that was with headphones and the screen on medium brightness.
It takes like 4-6 hours to charge the battery from zero.
The unit will not charge while being used.
The sound does suck on occasion, get a good pair of sound cancelling earphones, and that will alleviate most of the problem.

All in all its pretty cool, if you love techno thingys like me.

Do Not Buy This Product!!
Let's start with the good features of this product. The screen is the largest available at this time. And it is very thin. Now for all the poor features of this player. First the screen is hard to see in daylight even when at it's brightest setting. Second the battery only lasts about 1 1/2 hours. Not enough time for even one movie. The battery also needs to be charged immediately prior to use. After a couple of days it depletes it's charge. Replacement batteries are about $150! Samsung promises a high capacity battery soon but not at this time. An auto adapter is only available from an after-market company.

The sound is so low that I am forced to purchase a device to play it through my auto's radio speakers. It does work well with the headphones and there are two jacks available. But while traveling in a car you can not hear the sound coming from the speakers.

The memory stick reader is a nice feature, but if want to view pictures over two megapixels it takes an eternity to load them.

My advice is to spend your hard-earned money on a different product!

Not the best one around
I have to admit that I was tempted to buy this DVD Player just because of the big 10" screen. I was looking for a player that both kids could watch from the back seat of the car, so that they wouldn't make me crazy on long drives. After making the investment of near a grand, I was sadly disappointed in its performance. Face it, for this kind of price, it would be reasonable to expect a player that had a nice durable case, either metal or impact-resistant resin, but the L100 is sadly plain old PVC and not very heavy duty at that. The picture quality is not as good as the 8" Panasonic; it is not as sharp or bright, and off-angle viewing is less than great. Battery life too, is short, so that I had to deal with the kids protests, when they couldn't watch the end of the Lord of the Rings on a long flight. If you get one as a gift, see if you can dig up a spare battery. One pro for this player is that the spindle is detented, and there is a switch to flip the picture upside down. Too frustrated to use the player for travel, I mounted it under a counter top to watch a movie while I was making dinner. It folds nicely up when I need the space, and a little home engineering buried the wires. This unit is not a total disaster, so it gets 3 stars, but overall, it could have been way better. For waht I spent, I just about could have bought a 12" iBook with a DVD player, had a better picture, and answered my email when the kids weren't playing Warcraft. If any of the Samsung folks read this, be advised: you could have shaved a few bucks off the margin, built in the kinds of durability and display that would have made this player a killer, and sold a whole lot more of them. ... It has good video too.
At 4.0 the pics are great. But what about the video. Video is always the add on, hence most say their Digital Camera video is poor to below sh*t. This camera has good video. I have only tried out the 320x240 30fps and at night too. First, simply the video and sound was good. Good enough to burn the video with pics on a DVD and the quality between the pics and video was only a little bit different. WOW! Second, you can change the video settings easily from 320x240 15fps (more room less quality) to 640x480 (almost dvd quality with lots of space on the memory can disappearing. I put in a 512meg card and the camera told me I had 30 min at 320x160 30fs. If anyone takes more than 30 minutes of 99 year old grandma's birthday as she opens presents will need a brand new pocket protector to go with the camera. This camera is great for pics and good for video.<br /><br />

I am very suprised at the quality!
I bought this camera #1, for the price. I have been an avid film SLR user for many years. I must say I was very skeptical about buying a digital point and shoot camera. Let me explain why I bought it. My father, who lives 2 hours away, was recently diagnosed with cancer, and has not been able to see our 2 week old newborn son. We also have a 3 year old son. When I found this camera, at such a low price, I figured I would give it a try, and if I didn't like it, I would simply return it. I took a few test shots inside and outside, under different lighting conditions, and took them to my local Target and had 4x6 prints made to see how well they turned out. I must honestly say that both my husband and I were truly impressed and surprised at the quality of the prints we received back. They were very true to life, and the colors and the clarity were outstanding from this little 4 mp camera. I am also happy with the fact that this camera can shoot short videos WITH SOUND, which can be very hard to find in this price range. Best of breed HDTV receiver
This is currently the top-of-the-line product in its category (HDTV receivers). It has three capabilities of interest:

(1) reception of digital over-the-air television broadcasts
(2) scaling of VCR, DVD, satellite, or cable signals to either HDTV 720p or 1080i
(3) FireWire output and recording control to D-VHS VCR

The first capability (reception) is well-implemented. The receiver was able to pick up all the digital channels in my area (not to mention the legacy analog channels) through its auto-detection capability, and provided a channel list editor to allow me to knock out the channels I didn't want, such as analog channels that duplicated digital channels, home shopping channels, and analog channels where the reception was too poor to be of interest. For the digital channels, it also includes a signal strength meter, which is useful for finding the best antenna position and angle. Overall, as a digital broadcast receiver, I found nothing to fault in this product. Before buying, however, you should do research to determine what digital channels are currently available in your area. The web site ...is excellent for this purpose, showing not only what channels are available, but also those that are scheduled for future availability, and finally the signal direction and strength. It may seem strange to go back to over-the-air reception, especially after satellite and cable have made picture quality such a selling point, but digital over-the-air television, even for non-HDTV programming, has better picture and sound quality than cable or satellite (including digital cable and satellite - both over-compress their signals to squeeze in more channels and degrade picture quality), and its free. As for the HDTV programming, well, its just the best quality picture available - much better than even DVD

The second capability (scaling) is an attractive bonus capability. The receiver can scale from 480i, 480p, 720p, or 1080i to either 720p or 1080i, the two standard HDTV resolutions, and output them to either RGB, component, or DVI. What's interesting about this is that it can do it not only for the broadcasts it receives, but for video signals from other sources such as VCR's, DVD's, satellite, or cable, through either compositve, S-Video, or component inputs. The quality of the scaler is quite good; by running my other sources through the receiver, I get better picture quality for all of them than I did by running them directly to the television. For 4:3 source material, it supports full (for anamorphic sources) conversion, zoom ( for letterbox sources) conversion, and letterbox (centered with sidebars). My only gripe is that the sidebars it adds are gray. Now for some types of televisions (CRT, plasma) gray bars are useful for avoiding picture burn-in (uneven where to the display). But for other types of televisions (LCD, DLP) burn in is not an issue and gray bars serve no purpose. The receiver should have included an option to replace the gray bars with black. That said, for me the scaler alone would have justified the price.

The third capability, D-VHS recording control, works, but just barely. There are quite a few issues here: (1) FireWire recording ties up the device; you can't watch one program while recording another, which precludes use of the scaler while recording. (2) The timed recording feature does not support repeated events - it can't be programmed to record every Tuesday at 10:00; it has to be re-set for each individual recording, (3) the timed recording feature only works if the receiver is turned off - if the receiver is accidently left on, the recording will fail, (4) the timer depends on the time broadcast by the stations themselves - it can't be set manually - and many stations do not bother to broadcast the correct time (I have been trying to get the stations in my area to fix their time broadcasts, and have had some success). With regard to compatibility, I have the JVC HM-DH3000L D-VHS deck and have not had any inter-operability problems. Over the FireWire connection I could control, record, and play back digital video and audio successfully and without loss of picture quality.

Product ease of use varies with the features used. The reception capability is pretty simple. Anyone who can hook up a VCR or cable box to their television should be able to hook this up to their television. The scaler capability is a little harder to use, but probably within the reach of a lot of people. The D-VHS recording capability is not particularly easy to get working; unless you are into home theater, you shouldn't try it; there are just too many limitations in the current generation of hardware.

Piece of Hi-Tech Junk
Straight out of the box this unit kept on crashing and hanging up. Very poor design. Gives false reception information. It is hard to imagine that a company would actually sell a hi-tech component that is so defective at such a high price. Don't waste your money and time on this.

Don't waste your time
The promise of this device is never quite met. When it does work, it switches channels slowly, and the machine easily freezes while compiling the electronic programming guide (they mention this "feature" in the manual). But the real deal breaker is the fact the the machine freezes any time it gets a signal it can't handle. My first unit simply halted with the annoying "HELLO" message on the front panel. It did not respond to any remote or front panel buttons. Power cycling did no good. The second unit, when it encounted a bad signal would go into a reboot cycle, taking 10-15 seconds to recover. I guess that was suppose to be an improvement. When it finally locked up, I was able to coax it out by flipping the resolution on the back of the box. This definitely would not make for an enjoyable evening of channel surfing in my house! I sent back the second unit as well and am shopping for something better.

If you can't tolerate a set top box that hangs on you, don't touch this stupid machine. With a PC, at least you can reboot and expect the box to restart from square one. This idiotic Samsung, when stuck at a channel, stays stuck and keeps on hanging. This is item #2 that previous reviewer Juan Pierre (?) talked about. Now I really know what he meant. I am happy I spent a few dollars extra for this one.
I must say, I am pleasantly pleased. i plugged it right in and now have a bigger desk. This replaces my 19 Sony trinitron which bugged me with the line across. 2 in fact. This one is perfect. I turned the brightness down a bit since I work in a dim environment. It is easier on the eyes than the CRT. Graphics are good on this. sharp. SInce I just got it, I cant comment on reliability. I wonder if I should buy the 3 year performance warranty. Do pixels burn out on these displays easily? or should I just stay put and save my money? ... Read more

awesome mp3 player!!!!!!!!!
this mp3 player is great it's small enough to hold in the palm of your hand but not so small that you can't use the buttons. it's easy to put songs from your computer on it and the sound is fantastic. it doesn't hold is many songs as i thought it would but it holds plenty. i def. think that this is one of the best buys for your money if you are looking for a good mp3 player!!

best MP3 player, but for one fault
This is the only one of four MP3 players i tried that had acceptable sound quality. All the others; Rio, RCA, Nike had a strange high pitched noise no matter what the source of the audio files. The Yepp does not, and the WOW sound is really quite good. The only problem is that no matter how you put songs into thae player, it plays them back in alphabetical order. This drove me crazy. The only solution to this is to put each album(or collection of songs) in its own folder and copy them using windows explorer.
