5-0 out of 5 stars Changed my Life! Wonderful!
After having a inkjet printer for the past 5 years I decided to finally get a black ink laser after realizing I don't need color. I went with Samsung 1250 because of various write ups - it has never let me down! I have several computers networked and it works wonderfully without a hitch for all computers. True, it might be a little loud when it starts up and prints but what you gain in quality and overall computing enhancement far far outweighs the slight increase in sound. I recommend highly without reservation!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Value
We are very happy with our purchase of this printer for our dental practice. It is performing very well, and is such a good value. The Toner SAve feature is particularly nice.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Very Good Buy
This printer is a great buy. It is very fast, efficient, crisp, and clean. The quality of the images is wonderful. One thing that Samsung fails to mention is that a cable for connecting the printer to the computer is not included, but since those don't cost that much, it isn't a huge deal. Also, Samsung is shipping out the new 1250's with the PCL 6 driver for windows xp included on a disk with the printer, as well as drivers for all the other systems on that same disk.

However, you should be forewarned that the printer includes a function that allows you to reprint the last document printer (which can be good or bad thing, depending on whether or not you want people to see the document you just printed). Also, it does not have an automatic on/off function like some other lasers do; but instead it has a switch in the back. In addition, this printer has no network capabilities, so it is great for single users but won't work if put on a network. Lastly, do not use the plug and play driver for the Samsung ML-1250 included with Windows XP, instead use the driver that is included on the disk.

5-0 out of 5 stars What a fantastic printer!!!
I have been using this printer on a daily basis for about six months now. It has never given me any trouble, and was a breeze to set up. It even has a toner extension feature that gives you almost twice as many pages per cartridge, and the reduction is quality is not noticable unless you are doing a side by side comparison with the "non-saver" mode. I am just thrilled with this purchase, and recommend the printer to anyone that is looking for an inexpensive laser.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent buy, you can't go wrong here!
I was very impressed with this printer. It prints very fast, the detail (in toner save mode) was great. The printer arrived quickly, it was very well packaged in the retail packing, set up was a breeze (perhaps 10 or 15 minutes) and the software set up was quick and painless.

Overall I feel this printer was an outstanding purchase; great price, great product, quick delivery and an easy set up!

The description doesn't mention the fact that this printer includes a toner cartridge. An important bit of info considering the expense of purchasing an toner cartridge that isn't needed. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great small office printer
We use it in our office... very quick and solid printing capability. The only drawback is that it seems to go through printer cartridges fairly quickly, but then again, we do print a lot of stuff. Overall, we're very satisfied with it!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great printer for the Price
I've owned this printer for a week and am very pleased. It's a great Printer for the price. It's well constructed, fast and simple to use.

I share it on a home network with PCs running Win95, Win98 and WinXP. No problems printing. The driver provides access to all the printer's features on these platforms and is very straight forward.

I considered the HP 1200 and Brother 1450. I normally purchase HP printers but was disappointed in how flimsy the HP appeared. While I wouldn't mind Postscript which comes with the HP, it isn't essential and not worth the additional $$. The Brother was probably my second choice, but the Samsung had better specs and was less expensive.

The Samsung WEB site could be improved, but I was able to eventualy validate that the drivers that came with the printer were up to date. They also have limited service coverage.

5-0 out of 5 stars Why need postscript?
I've had for 2 weeks...do not have postscript card. Have not yet come across a PDF file that wouldn't print. Not sure what others are trying to print.
Also, I've had no problem with manual duplexing. Have not tried 1200 dpi yet.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing Features
What a shame - an excellent printer marred by a lousy driver and horrible technical support.

You buy this for the low price, fast speed, 1200 dpi, watermarking, poster mode, manual duplexing.

You install it and find the driver will not support manual duplexing, watermark, poster mode, 1200 dpi!

Samsung wants you to buy a several hundred dollar postscript board and memory upgrade.

Save your money and buy something else from aaanother manufacturer.

4-0 out of 5 stars update on Samsung ML1650 Laserprinter
I have now had this laser printer for 8 months. Installing the PostScript ROM took care of the won't print PDF files problem, but this ROM will set you back about $... if you buy it from Samsung. I have since seen it advertised by other vendors for about $... using Google searches. The additional printer memory has finally become available, but only the 32 mB size. Although the manual claims 16, 64 & 128 mB memory modules are also available, Samsung still can't provide them. There is only one RAM expansion socket, so you can't add printer memory by purchasing additional SIMMs later. Samsung will hit you up for $... plus tax and shipping for a 32 mB RAM (increasing the total available memory to 48 mB), but you can get the same module from S A Technologies for just $... (no, this is NOT a typo) plus tax & shipping. Make sure, though, that you order the ML1650 100-pin SIMM, which is LOW PROFILE, otherwise you won't be able to re-attach the closure plate. I can confirm that the ML1650 will recognize the SA Techchnologies SIMM, but only the 32 mB version. SA Technologies is still working on the 64 mB and 128 mB versions (as is Samsung).

Had I realized that extra cost for the "must have" PostScript ROM and all the hassels in obtaining additional RAM that would work (both electronically and phsyically) I probably would have gone with a HP laser printer. But now that these teething problems have been solved, I am happy with my ML1650. Its very small footprint, super fast warmup, and whisper quietness are wonderful, and it's FAST. Printing quality is, of course, excellent, as one would expect from any laser printer. I have also learned that Samsung technical support sucks. Nevertheless, I have upgraded my rating to four stars. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Big and Bright conventional format LCD monitor
This monitor is huge. And bright. The contrast is amazing, and the colors don't budge with your eye in one corner of the monitor looking across it, so I can almost believe the 170 degree viewing angle claim. I find it works better a little further back than most LCDs I've been used to due to the relatively large pixel pitch resulting from 1600x1200 at 21.3" diagonal. Larger monitors further back are easier on the eyes because they don't require close focusing which causes strain. This monitor is the smaller sibling of the 240T, which is an otherwise identical monitor, with identical height and pixel size, but with a 24" diagonal at 1920x1200 resolution. My wife and I are both computer professionals, and we have one of each at home. For working on the computer, the 240T is almost too large, and the extra width is all but unusable because windows at the sides of the screen seem far away.

This monitor, like the 240T, accepts S-Video and composite (not component) video input, and does a reasonable job of de-interlacing and scaling. The major difference is that the 240T is high enough resolution for full 1080 format HDTV (1920x1080 pixels, 16:9 letterbox aspect ratio), which can be input via either DVI or VGA. This monitor, the 210T, can only manage 1600x900 for letterbox; both run 1600x1200 for regular TV 4:3 aspect ratio.

DVDs played through the computer's DVD player and scaled by a decent graphics card look much better than those coming from S-video when there aren't too many motion artifacts (see my review of WinDVD 4); but many DVDs play so poorly on PC home theater DVD players that I fall back on the regular DVD player through S-video fairly regularly. For computer connections, DVI input is much much sharper than VGA input; if you get this monitor, it's worth upgrading to a graphics card with DVI output. Contrary to the manuals of the monitors and graphics cards, both the Radeon 9000 Pro 128MB and the Radeon 9700 Pro 128MB model had no problem driving the 240T and 210T at their full resolutions in DVI mode at the monitor's native 60Hz refresh rate.

I'd like to see Samsung's new DVD HD931 player that provides progressive format (de-interlaced) DVI output, which should be optimal for this monitor (and the 240T). The home theater review sites love the HD931 player and the whole concept of connecting via DVI. The only reason I don't have the DVD HD931 is that the monitor only has a single DVI input, and it's in an awkard, though space-saving, vertical arrangment. Turns out that DVI routers are expensive, so plugging in two DVI inputs to a single monitor doesn't seem practical yet.

This is the black one; there's also a silver model.

4-0 out of 5 stars Samsung 210T
Hi, I just got my 210T this weekend. I did a great deal of research before finally purchasing this monitor. One thing that I noticed was that there weren't that many reviews on this monitor which is what prompted me to write one. This is a truely great monitor. It allows you to connect many other devices to it other than your computer. I personally connected my PS2 and my cable box. You don't even need a tv tuner to get this monitor to broadcast tv signals. The picture in picture is a great feature which allows you to do work and watch tv or anything else you connect on a different source. Picture quality and brightness is exceptional. If you do get this monitor try and set it up digitally because it is much cleaner in my opinion.

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm in love.
I previously was using a dual monitor setup with a Samsung 17" 170MP (Which I LOVE) and an NEC 1850X which was pretty good and I wanted just one monitor.

Go buy this monitor.

The color is great - you can see it from every angle, and it's HUGE. 1600 by 1200 res - Which you will want to use.

The only things I can think of that are slightly negative is that I wish it was even HIGHER res - But I am a resolution junkie! ... and you don't really need the DVI cable - I have tried many times with both the VGA and DVI and they are both the same. NO DIFFERENCE.

You WILL get compliments on this monitor - The most common is "Wow - That is a cool monitor!"

I'm such a nerd for even doing the review - But I LOVE this monitor.

PS: I am an IT Manager and know my fair share about computers - I went through 20+ monitors before plunking down the cash for this one. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Samsung 151P @ Bytesector.com
The Samsung SyncMaster line of monitors have been reliable and made for the high end user. Once again, Samsung has not disappointed the consumers. The SyncMaster 151P is an LCD monitor that delivers sharp and brilliant colors to the user. There are very few LCD monitors that look as good off as they do on. The 151P was expertly designed by F.A. Porsche making it a sight for sore eyes anytime. Being an LCD monitor the 151P has a small footprint and takes up no more depth than the stand that supports it. This is really handy to anyone who has a messy desk and realizes that there is just no way that the CRT in front of them belongs there. The 151P comes with support and cables for both digital and analog input, but when using one of the two the other cable must hang behind the monitor making it a nuisance to move around. (full review @ bytesector.com)

5-0 out of 5 stars Great LCD
I have been looking for a 15" LCD to replace my 17" CRT. After much research, I decided I wanted a Samsung syncmaster. Originally, I wanted the 152B, but wasn't sure which online retailer to buy from. Meanwhile, I saw a great deal for a new 151P (under [$$]0000000) and jumped on it.

It's a great monitor and I can barely notice the size difference from my old 17". It was a breeze to set up and the clarity seems great. It's amazing how empty my desktop seems now. It took a little bit of tweaking to get the colors right, but I love my new monitor. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Viewing Quality/Warning If Mounting
I purchased this monitor for my wife and have set it up on an older Micron Millennia PC with a PIII and Creative NVIDIA TNT2 Pro video card.I had absolutely no problems in the setup and it is currently providing exceptional viewing quality.I didn't expect much from the speakers so I wasn't disappointed. The sound is very tinny.
I also purchased a Kensington Flat Panel DeskMount Arm #60601 ([Amazon.com]).The two go together very well but be forewarned! When the Samsung monitor is folded up for mounting, the monitor housing cannot be used for positioning. This could very easily damage the monitor. You must reach around the housing and grab the base. This is very ackward and difficult. The VESA mounting of this monitor seems to be an afterthought and not thought out very carefully. Also neither the screws provided with the monitor or the arm are long enough. You will need to purchase longer 4mm screws. This is because the mounting plate provided by Samsung does not provide a flush surface for mounting to the arm's adapter. This was also true with the Inland u-Mount LCD Monitor Arm 200 that I originally purchased for this use.(This Inland unit was pure junk and I took it back before ordering this unit by Kensington.)Be prepared to do some fine tuning on the arm unit, being that it uses friction for most of its positioning surfaces. It's hard to find an adjustment that is not too tight or too loose. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars The Blurr problem
Well, this is my first LCD monitor. It's a great improvement from a 15" CRT that was almost 7 years old.

Physically it is well built, it seems pretty sturdy, it has a nice design (compare to a viewsonic lcd monitor, they are ugly), the colors are bright and beautiful, but, but, but, this is the problem: when black text is displayed on white background, a "shadow" appears under the text making it blurry. If you are reading text, it becomes very eye-straining after a while.

Pictures, movies and games, however, look great. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice LCD quality for a decent price
I spent several weeks researching and evaluating different LCD monitors to replace my 19' Sony Trinitron CPD400 CRT. (Grew tired of moving around with the 75 pound mammoth!) I use my computer extensively for programming, and occasionally for web surfing, word processing, spread sheets and DVD viewing. The specifications of most LCDs are pretty close to one another, so I decided to go with the one that was easiest on my eyes. I looked at Sonys, NECs, Samsungs, and Viewsonics in multiple stores. In the end, I liked the Viewsonic VX series, and went with their 18' model for my home computer (Windows XP & Redhat Linux 8 on a Pentium 4 with 1GB memory). The image resolution was even quite decent when I ran some graphics-intensive games on it at the store.

I've had the display since September 2003, run it at the native resolution & refresh rate of 1280x1024 @ 75Hz rate, and have been pleased with the quality. Mine did have one dead pixel, but most people who have seen the monitor don't even notice... I was just a bit paranoid knowing the dead pixel policy on LCD monitors and examined it closely.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Monitor, But it May Not Be for You.
I have never owned an LCD display but have wanted one for the past year once the technology seemed to be up to the task of making a large display at a reasonable price. I bought the Viewsonic VX800 because of my experience with Viewsonic monitors (always has been good) and the glowing reviews on several sites. I did a lot of internet research and went to three computer stores before I purchased the Viewsonic from Amazon.

I am running Windows XP on a 2.4 Gig HZ P-4 machine with 512 Meg RAM NVidia GeForce Ti 4200 high-end graphics card with 128 Meg, so the necessary horsepower was there.

So, how did I fare with this monitor?

First, the positives. It arrived quickly within a few days. The packaging was terrific, never seen better. All necessary cables were included. I hooked the monitor up to my computer - first with the D-Sub analog input and then used the DVI cable. Clarity was definitely better using the DVI input. (Hooking up the cables was easy - the panels came off in a snap and connections were all clearly labeled.) The display is very bright and contrast is excellent. I actually had to turn down the brightness setting. Colors are rich and saturated. Beautiful. And, as other reviewers have stated, not one bad pixel. I didn't bother connecting the speakers as I have a much better sound system. The front panel controls were easy to use. A software driver disk was included. However, this monitor is plug and play for Win XP, so the Win 95/98 drivers were not needed. I tried playing a game and did not see any streaking or ghosting. The weight is less then half of a comparable CRT and it was nice to have less clutter on the desktop, although the screen had to be moved up just as close as with my CRT display. Finally, the monitor looks sleek and well designed. Overall, I would say quality is top-notch.

Now, the downsides. I do a lot of work with spreadsheets and word processing. I wear glasses and my eyes are not great, so text and graphics clarity are really important to me. To get small fonts to show clearly, the pixel dot pitch should be .25mm or better. On all 18" LCDs, the equivalent dot pitch is about .28mm. (The Viewsonic VX 800 is .279mm.) Also, LCDs, as opposed to CRTs run at an optimal resolution - for 17 though 19 inchers, it's usually 1280 by 1024. While this my be OK for many users, it made the text and images too small for me. I like my displays at 1024 by 768. Running the monitor at this resolution did not produce very good results; only acceptable at best. Therefore, I changed to the optimal resolution and got a much better display. But, I had a hard time seeing the small print. Not good! To try and improve matters I also turned on XP's "clear type," which really helped. After some more fiddling and several calls to my local computer pro, I changed the DPI setting from the normal 96 to 120. Again there was improvement as the type was enlarged on Excel, but not when viewing websites or e-mail. Ariel displayed well; New Times Roman was hard to read.

To be fair, I lived with the Viewsonic for several more days to try and adapt. Unfortunately, I couldn't and am returning the item. My conclusion is that while LCDs are really getting good and prices are reasonable (I paid $575 with free shipping for atop-of-the-line model), if you are a demanding user who needs really sharp text or wants to run at various resolutions, stay with a CRT. LCD technology is not ready for prime time for these applications. Maybe in another year or two it will be. Right now, I'm going to buy a Viewsonic high-end CRT to replace my 5-year old Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 900u Otherwise, this LCD may be just the ticket. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing
I bought this monitor to replace a 19" CRT. I bought this particular monitor because of an April 3, 2003 review in PC Magazine on flat panel displays. This was viewed as what "should be your next display," ranked #1 among all of those reviewed. Somehow, in this very short couple of months, there is now a 171N and 172N (for more money). This 170N remains terrific. This was a good choice.

Regarding the CRT contrast: Powered by a Thinkpad 21, I could only get 8 bit color at 1200x1600 and only 16-bit color at 1280x1024. On this Samsung, I get 1280x1024 at 16bit. The screen is *very* bright, actually too bright at anything other than the lowest settings. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent clarity
This is the best monitor I have ever had. I compare it in clarity to Sony. Who knows, maybe the internal components are identical.

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS IS THE ONE
I received mine about a week ago, (they're going fast!!) Believe me, if your out looking for a TFT, look no further. This thing is beautiful, it's very bright and the colors vibrant. It's got .26 dpi, <25ms response time, DVI & Analog. (You can switch between two displays.) Watching DVD's is a wonderful experience on the 172T. I received it in perfect condition, no dead pixels. This is my very first TFT and I wanted to get something worth all the money. Stop comparing and get this one!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A question.
My husband has bought the screen SyncMaster 172B LCD 17" today so my rate of this product is only formal. My question is: has this screen been designed also by Porsche as is the model 171P TFT? Just matter of curiosity because we love that skinny screen anyway.

Thank you.
