It offers enhanced versatility with both DVI digital and VGA analog inputs, as well as two 3-watt speakers, providing a stand-alone method of playing multi-media content. ViewSonic's ClearMotiv technology also delivers a fast 30 ms video response time, displaying broadcast-quality video at 33 fps.

With a 1,280 x 1,024 maximum resolution and 0.279 mm dot pitch, the VG810 delivers a crisp, accurate onscreen display, while 250 cd/m2 of brightness and a 350:1 contrast ratio provide an easy-to-see image even in well-lit environments. 160-degree horizontal and vertical viewing angles provide a wide range of visual clarity, while an anti-glare screen coating helps to cut back on reflections and the resulting eye-strain.

With the onscreen menus, you can adjust a wide range of monitor settings, including brightness, contrast, H/V position, menu language, color, and more. A small 16.1-by-7.1-inch footprint makes finding space for the monitor a snap, while VESA wall-mount capability allows you to free up desktop space completely. 5-0 out of 5 stars very good drive
Extremly reliable drive, good for burning multiple cds and playing dvds. Didn't really cause me a problem. Only problems that existed came from the OS (windows ME uggh!). So, all in all this is a reliable and worthy purchase at a good cost.

1-0 out of 5 stars I didn't order a refurbished product
This product simply ceased to work after about a month. The manufacturer's solution was to have me ship it back, and they would rework the drive, or replace it with a refurbished drive. I can see where this is headed, and I don't have time for the round-a-round. First dissapointment with this site.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Reliable Drive
Any negative reviews about this drive is inaccurate. I'm not sure if the drive is compatible with Windows 2K, but just because it isn't doesn't mean it deserves a 1 star rating. The drive itself works great (for Win XP Pro). Why not just opt for the CD-RW/DVD combo. Its a great deal for what is basically two drives in one and it certainly won't generate as much heat as two drives in one computer. Although 32x isn't the max speed you can get, you spend about 15-45 extra seconds burning a CD with a 48x drive-big wow. As for the manufacturer, Samsung is a very reliable and well-known manufacturer. I can assure you that Samsung is not a 2nd rate manufacturer of electronics. They have been in the electronics business for decades. In the past, they sold many of their products under their name in their home nation, Korea, and most of their products were sold under different brands in other countries i.e. USA. It was only until the past several years that Samsung decided to sell under its own name. To make a long story short, Samsung makes great reliable products and an especially reliable CD-RW/DVD drive.

1-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't quite work!
This drive turns out to be very difficult to install in a Windows 2000 system... possibly due to a driver issue. My technician finally solved it, but he told me never to buy anything from a 2nd-rate manufaturer (read, stick with HP, Sony or Toshiba). The drive has a lot of trouble reading even CD-ROMs. I'm not sure whether it's a problem with the internal mechanism, or something with the software. I often get the "no disc found" error, even though the same disc will work in other PCs. My advice is save yourself trouble and money and do not buy this drive.

5-0 out of 5 stars Solid drive
I've had great success with this drive after purchasing it three weeks ago. I have a small Dell tower with only one 5.25" bay, so I decided to go the combo route. It installed with no problems. I've burned music cd's from MusicMatch Jukebox and Nero (the latest version of which recognizes the drive instantly), running Windows 98 SE. CD-r's burn in less than 4 minutes. I've also used CD-rw's at 4x, made multisession disks, video cd's, erased cd-rw's--no problems at all. The drive has JustLink coaster protection and an 8 mb buffer, which seem to work very well as I've not had an error yet. When burning at high speed, the drive makes an irritating high-pitched noise, but it is reasonably quiet otherwise. If you are looking for a near-silent drive, look elsewhere.

DVD's sometimes stutter w/the included PowerDVD, but that is probably because the bundled PowerDVD demands a lot of CPU power and I've got a PIII 550. My ATI DVD player demands less processing power and they play fine. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars All that and a bag of chips!
What a deal! This is by far a great monitor that comes with a no hassle 3 year warranty and a price below 600$. I was looking at several models and was undecided if it was going to be a 17 inch, or would I spend an additional 200$ to get this 19 inch. Well I'm one for bigger is better, especially in this case. This monitor features plug n play along with one touch screen adjustments. My only gripes are that the adjustment button are on the underside of the bottom of the monitor and, that you cannot adjust the height of the monitor if needed. These few complaints aside, the picture is fantastic and I couldn't be more content!

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't beat this price
I was originally going to purchase an 18" on amazon.com but it only came with a one year warranty for over $550.00. Needless to say, I happen to find this Samsung LCD 19" with a three year warranty!
How can you beat this deal?
The picture is clear, it saves a lot of room compared to my old boxed monitor, I can't praise it enough. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Super looking monitor
As an LCD monitor, the Smsung 191T gives very crsip, bright colors. I'm connecting it analog right now, but will use DVI as soon as I get my new alienware computer. I can't comment on gaming issues yet, since I hacen't/can't play games on my current computer. I would like to give 5 stars, but my monitor actually has two "stuck on" pixels. It's not that big a deal since they're so tiny. Nevertheless, it's still disappointing. Buying LCDS in such a large screen size is pretty much hit or miss when it comes to being "perfect pixels" or having "dead pixels."

The other monitor that I was strongly considering was the 19" NEC Multisync. In general,if you are a hardcore gamer, I don't think it's ideal to play games on LCD's above 17" Still, I'm going to play games with this samsung, and when I do, I will return with another review.

4-0 out of 5 stars Super looking monitor, part II
I am returning with my second review for this monitor, and my rating hasn't changed. But from what I have to say, maybe some of you out there may lower my rating. First, in my first review, I said that the monitor had two dead pixels. I've since found about 3 more. They don't all show up at once though. It depends on the background color of whatever you-re looking at e.g. games, web-surfing. One is always blue when it should be black. On a white background, as I type this, there's one pixel that's stuck in red. It would have been nice if the monitor was perfect with out any defects like these pixels, but I'm an easy going guy and never felt a need to return the monitor because of this.

On my old CRT monitor, I was used to having the resolution at 1024X768. Switiching to the Samsung's native 1280X1024 made things like pictures in webpages look smaller at first, but I quickly adjusted and it's no big deal. You can see more of the web page without scrolling at this resolution anyway. Other reviewers mention rotating the monitor, and yes, it comes with special software to adjust your screen when you rotate it. Unfrotunately, I haven't taken the time to learn how to rotate my monitor. The instructions come on a d CD, not a printed booklet I i wasn't able to find out how to rotate the monitor from this CD. I'm sure the insructions are in there somewhere, but i need to look harder.

Gaming: With the native resolution at 1280X1024, I prefer to leave my monitor at this setting at all times. I don't like the fuzziness of graphics/letters when shifting to other resolutions (I.e. UI'm spoiled by the sharpness of the native resolution). So, if you want to play your computer games at the native resolutioin, you need to make sure that you have a fast computer. I notice ghosting during the cutscenes of GTA3. and if I go to www.gamespot.com and scroll down a web[age, you can notice the refresh rate isn't as fast as a CRT (the screen "blinks" as you scroll). This only happenes from gamespot's website, and it's really not a big deal to me. Overall, I think the colors/graphics of games still look very nice on this monitor. Yes, CRT is sharper, but the Sam,sung comes pretty close. Plus, you save all that desk space. SO, I don't feel like going back to my old CRT (Sony 21" GDM-F500 from ~1998).

I'm happy with my purchase of this samsung.

5-0 out of 5 stars A treat for the eyes
Nice monitor, with two interfaces (analog & dvi), easy to setup and use; no dead pixels. Brightness is perfect and contrast is nice. I recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome monitor
I compared this new monitor to my old LCD 19" from NEC side by side in a dual monitor setup and I could tell the brightnes and clarity that this monitor gave over it INSTANTLY! For a 19" it looks incredibly large, out of the box and on my desk it was ready to use and play games perfectly, no ghosting at all. I highly suggest this monitor!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
I order my first Samsung 191T a few months ago for work. It was so bright and beautiful, I couldn't stand looking at my old monitor at home. After thinking about it, I decided to buy another of this exact monitor. It's really that much better than a regular CRT monitor. Amazing! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not as described. Never buy from Samsung Again
I got my Samsung 17" 700IFT for about 3 months and have been using it since. The reason I bought this monitor was the price and the performance. I needed a big enough monitor with hi resolution and good refresh rate for working with AutoCAD and 3d studio. A .20mm dot pitch, resolution up to 2,045 x 1,536 flat 17" for $...(shipping included)was too good of a price for performance(& it was).

The monitor shown above here on amazon[.com] is a little different from what I got. The ajustment button is not cover as shown above. That was a minor problem mainly Amazon[.com]'s fault. Now the problem with the monitor itself. You'll get what you pay for is perfect for describing this moniter. It's too bright even with a UV filter. It's hard to adjust. When you adjust it lower it would turn too dark. Adusting the display area to align with the screen is impossible. The left side is curve and not straight. I had tried every possible adjustment and still not straight. This monitor does not look like a .20mm monitor. A regular 2 yr old 17" CRT at work looks clearer than this one. Also you can NEVER set the resolution pass 1280x1024@85MHZ because anything higher and you will see some major flickering and by lowering the refresh rated to 75mhz at this resoluton and the whole screen would flicker. Even at 1280x1024@85MHZ you notice some minor flicker on the upper right corner.

One word "AVOID" I wanted to believe in the Samsung's product quality but after this one I would have to think twice or never think about buying their product again

4-0 out of 5 stars Product not same as the one in photo BUT still happy with it
I wanted a 17" monitor not too expensive(like LCD) and not too cheap(like no name brand) to replace my existing Komodo 17" monitor(AVIOD THIS BRAND) which is becoming not too easy on my eyes. I pick this over all other mainly of it perfermance. No other monitor in this price range even come close to having. .2mm and 1,280 x 1,024 resolution at 85 Hz. I got the monitor in 3 days. The monitor is same as the one in the photo show on Amazon except mine has the color adjust button on the monitors facde and not like the one in the photo which sticks out. The quality and material is OK. The screen need some adjusting time to fix the corner. When I had it on 60Hz it just like the Komodo but once I had it on 85Hz my eyes feel much more comfortable. Overall it a OK monitor. Still not as good as a regular 17" DIGITAL CRT monitor I use in my office for more than 2 years

5-0 out of 5 stars You will love it as much as I do!!
I just got my monitor yesterday and I absolutely love it! I was worried being that I have a small computer cart that I wouldn't have a lot of space with a 17-inch monitor. It doesn't take up much more space then my old 15-inch monitor did. This monitor is very sleek and takes up minimal space. I love the scoop design in the back it makes it look very stylish and not just like a plain looking monitor.

It was easy to adjust the settings. So far I just have my resolution set on 1152 x 864. I was used to 1024 x 768 before, but I am sure I will gradually increase the resolution after adjusting to it more. I love all the choices it gives you to change your resolution to. I checked out a lot of other 17-inch monitors and I did not see any that was able to match this ones ability to go up to 2048 x 1536.

I am very happy with the quality of this monitor. I am glad I made the decision to spend a little more for a high quality monitor. I debated over and over with this monitor and the cheaper monitors which had fewer features. I do freelance webdesign and this monitor is perfect for it. Graphics and text look amazing. It was very easy to set up and took only a matter of minutes. This is definately a monitor for everyone from beginners to the professionals.

Get this monitor you will love it as much as I do :)

5-0 out of 5 stars Samsung Dynaflat 700IFT
Samsung has 2 lines of Dynaflat monitors, the DF's and the IFT you see here. Dynaflat is probrably the best flat screen technology in the industry. The .20 dotch pitch gives this monitor the clearest picture I have ever seen. Dynaflats are used by Graphics professionals, but are affordable enough for the home!

The 700IFT boasts an awsome resolution for a 17 inch monitor: 2048 x 1536 maximum resolution at 60 Hz. That means, it can run a godly 1600x1200 picture with perfection!

The IFT series is also very high quality, includes all the new technologies. It's also very healthy as far as monitors go, with the anti glare, anti static coatings.

Some may say a 17 inch monitor is too small, but honestly, it isn't. It's the perfect size. Getting anything bigger is totally unnesessary and hurts your eyes.

For the price Amazon.com charges, and the free shipping, you CANNOT beat this monitor at the price. I seriously doubt you will find another monitor as good as this one .... Unless you get a different model Samsung Dynaflat of course. But I assure you, this one is the best bargain, I have compared them all :)

4-0 out of 5 stars Sharp image, fantastic colors...beats the competition
If you're just looking for a monitor for average every day usage then your search is over, THIS is the monitor you want! Text is rendered SHARP, colors are superb, the screen is perfectly flat, and it's case is aesthetically pleasing to look at. Why pay three or four times as much for an inferior LCD? For those who may be looking for a monitor for more professional graphics usage, read on and THEN buy this monitor.

I'll preface this by stating a few things about my computer set up. I'm a graphic artist that needs great color and sharp details. My machine is a version 1 B&W 350 Blue & White G3 (Macintosh) with a gorgeous 21" Apple Studio Display monitor, both purchased back in early 1999. My big Studio Display was stunning from day 1 and is still picture perfect today - it's been my sole monitor. When I decided to add an additional monitor to handle the additional palettes and windows of Photoshop and Flash I was naturally looking for something that was of similar quality as my Apple monitor. A completely unrealistic expectation, as the 21" monitor was $1500. when I bought it (a comparible monitor today will cost much less now, of course) and was designed for precision color work in the graphic arts.

Undeterred, I purchased the new Radeon 7000 Mac Edition Video PCI card (dual monitor capability) and I began my search for a great 17" monitor. My first purchase was a used 17" Apple Studio Display bought on Ebay. Unfortunate results...lets move on. Second purchase was motivated by terrific reviews found elsewhere on the web: the Samsung SyncMaster 700IFT reviewed here. My immediate impression was that the screen appeared to have some grayness to it, kind of like looking through dirty/dusty monitor glass, except the gray 'smudginess' was embedded in the pixels! I figured that it was a defective monitor so I arranged for a return and immediately went out and bought the 17" NEC MultiSync FE700+ at a local retailer. The NEC monitor is actually quite good, it's bright, has good color, and no gray 'smudginess' to the picture. The NEC is of the aperture-grille variety, so it's brighter than the Samsung (which is the shadow mask type). But when I hooked both the NEC and Samsung monitors up at the same time the Samsung was the clear winner: sharper/more detailed images, (perhaps due the smaller .20mm dot pitch), and MUCH better text! Colors on both were great, though I saw that the Samsung had a somewhat yellowish overall hue to the picture that took some extra adjustments to control. I'd say that the 700IFT's colors are somewhat warmer overall but still excellent. OK, one more try: the ViewSonic G75f was my next purchase, which has also received very good reviews. Gray 'smudginess' was also apparent on this monitor but it had great colors. Bottom line: the G75f simply couldn't compete with the Samsung's ability to render text and detail. Text was comparatively blurry next to the 700IFT's. Back goes the ViewSonic!

Good news...that gray 'smudginess' on the 700IFT has lessened considerably over a 2 or 3 day period! It's still there but barely noticeable now, so perhaps this was a temporary condition (?).

The display control buttons on my 700IFT are all on the monitor's front, not on a drop-down panel as is always mentioned and shown in online reviews. Mine was manufactured in August 2001, which is more recent than most reviews, so I think that the drop-down panel, as shown here on Amazon and even on Samsung's website, was revised for the more traditional and more accessible 'buttons on the front' design. This monitor comes with a USB cable for using on-screen display controls, but this is only for Windows users only so I can't comment on that. Also comes with a variety of software for Windows, as well.

The case has a nice 'swooping' look to it...not blocky like the competition. Solid plastics and cables.

Highly recommended!! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars It is a pretty flat monitor. Not a bad choice.
Over in the 19 inch flat monitor category, the consumer is at an disadvantage. It is because of lack of technology and high prices. All 19 inch flat monitors have quality problems. Each product fluctuates (geometry, moire, color, missing dots etc) So you have to hope for the best.

As for this Samsung it used a Mitsubishi NF tube. In the 19inch flat monitor market this can be compared to the Sony trinitron tubes. Mitsubishi tubes have a less prominent damper wires (two wires that go horizontally across the screen that are visible) but Sony trinitron tubes have more flashy colors. In other words this monitor has is less colorful but could be less a distraction. But as I said each monitor is different. It's like a car, you can get a dud from the factory or you might get one that works fine. Over here in Korea they sell this monitor starting from 500$. US residents are lucky since there is so much competion prices have to be low unlike here where Korean companies have a virtual monopoly. It isn't worth 500$ but at low price it should be given some consideration.

Other monitors in the 19inch flat market that are similar are Sony G400, LG 195FT, and a few others. Samsung DF 19 inch flats are not really flat so they are inferior to Samsung NF's. But NF's may not be as focused clearly as DF's at high resolutions. It is best for the consumer to actually "see" the monitors before purchase.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great monitor!
While the technical details are all available, I can't really describe them for the review. I never thought my monitor was bad until I got the Samsung. It's bright, clear, crisp, sharp... beautiful! The pop-down control system is easy to use as well. Plus, it doesn't take up much more room on my desktop than my old 17" monitor. I noticed no distortion, even at the edges. Overall a great buy! ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Fell short of my modest expectations
I have a 17-inch ViewSonic monitor in my office, and when I saw the Samsung 153v on fire sale at my local store I bought it. It totally disappointed. I hadn't expected much of a so-so brand but its poor image quality, especially the lack of uniform lighting over the screen and rather narrow viewing angles, totally put me off. Next to my 2-year-old ViewSonic 153v's image looks dark and unevent. I couldn't get a refund, so I just sold it on Craig's List for less than I'd paid. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Best Value, no regrets
I bought this monitor in August of 2001 but thought I should wait before I write a review so I know all the ups and downs.

Good:
Monitor is BIG, I can surf 2 web pages and watch a DVD without any overlap. It's also nice when writing a report because I can have my source info on the left hand side and MS Word open on the right. 1600x1200 @ 85hz ROCKS... I think the other guy that wrote the review must have had a crappy video card that couldn't handle the strain of running at that resolution and refresh rate. Also the max resolution of 2048x1536 is great, especially for the price.

Bad: only 2 bad things I can say about this monitor. 1) Vertical bowing on the right I can't adjust (the bottom where the clock is comes up about 2mm) and 2) Sometimes when I turn the monitor on after being cold for a while there is color blurring and slight double vision but it goes away eventually.

2-0 out of 5 stars 1200NF Good technical support
I'm on my fifth refurbished system after purchasing a new monitor in November. All of them except the latest system had problems with discoloration. My current system has good color.

The screen doesn't appear to be truly flat. There is a piece of truly flat glass encasing the display.

The OSD controls are easy to use but don't allow me to compensate for vertical bowing toward the center of the display. Video performance at 1600x1200 @85Hz is not very good. All of the monitors exhibited these problems.

Samsung has good technical support people. They were always helpful and responsive.

There are alot of features, but this monitor seems to lack the basics. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Hard to find retail, but worth the hunt online
This is a great monitor, better than you will see in the usual computer chain stores (they claim not to have heard of it). We have one of the early digital graphics cards in our computer but ran into incompatibility of the plug (different DV standards exist)and have had to go analog because of it. Check your DV plug if you are buying it for that purpose. We had a one pin difference that caused the problem. I like it as well as my 21 inch CRT at work. Looks good as part of the work area, nice asthetics. Can't go wrong here. I researched the specs a year ago when I bought it, checked the reviews, and it remains a standout even a year later.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent in DVI mode, okay in analog.
I first connected this monitor to my old analog VGA card. It looked good, but the text looked very "anti-aliased", which is to say that the edges were a bit soft. I went out and purchased an NVidia card that had a DVI output, and connected the Samsung to that. What a difference! This is what computing should be about. The 17" monitor is big enough so that the native 1280x1024 resolution is very usable. Fonts are easily readable, and this is so crisp I can hardly go back to a CRT when I go to work every day.

If you need to use an LCD in analog mode, look at Viewsonic instead. Their analog to digital translation has always been great. However, if you can get a DVI video interface on your PC, this is the monitor to have.

I use this monitor under RedHat 7.3, and it works great.

5-0 out of 5 stars breathtaking
Not much to say. The screen is breath-taking. You must run it with 1280x1024 resolution, since that's how many pixels it has. Otherwise it tries to scale things, and the first thing to go is the text.

The screen seems huge. It has low power consumption. It turns on instantly, so you don't wait for it to warm up like a CRT. It installed effortlessly on Windows ME and then again on Windows XP. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Impressed!
My mother needed a printer for her research papers that would print clearly, precisely, and fast. I recommended this printer due to the good reviews and the price. Even after five months of awe, my mother still cannot believe that we paid so little for such an excellent printer. Light, smooth, and small. Convenient and cost saving. And the printouts are crisp and clear.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice machine
I purchased this machine based upon the negative reviews of the least expensive HP (which was about $150 more than this product), and based upon the good reviews of the Samsung printers. The biggest complaint I have is that you have to read the manual on the computer screen, or print it out (134 pages of the 1000 pages that the toner is supposed to print) which I thought was a little chintzy. The printer itself is very easy to use (so far).

5-0 out of 5 stars Top Notch Printer... Super Price!
This is an excellent printer! You can't go wrong with this one. The "Toner Save" Mode works well, really hard to tell the difference in the print quality. Initial setup is quick and you're printing in less than 10 minutes after installing the software on the CD-ROM. The footprint on a table or desk is small, especially when using the printer's face down hopper. It comes with a CD-ROM software, parallel cable, Manual (ON CD), and a Quick Setup poster. ...
