1-0 out of 5 stars Bulking and Unprotective
This flimsy hodgepodge of velcro and nylon is both cheesey and bulky. Offers about as much protection for your handheld as a wet paper bag. On the positive side it has lots of cool looking but useless zippers and pockets that are sure to win over your nerdish friends. Comes with convienently hideous velcro strips that peel off and stick to the back of your handheld. Great if your throwing your pocket PC at a velcro dartboard. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed for the Iraq Desert
I am deployed to Iraq (LSA Anaconda) and I really enjoy the aluminum hard case...I slip my pda into the pocket of my military uniform and sometimes I would worry about knocking it around. Not anymore...the case is strong...light weight...easy on the eyes...and I thought the price was great off of Amazon.com...I keep a lot of good information on my pda and feel confident that I wont loose it now...If you hot sync frequently I would recommend taking the pda out of the case first and then place it in the cradle...easy enough...I am very pleased with the case and would recommend one to my friends.

thanks for listening

5-0 out of 5 stars This case does the job!!
Okay, I've got a Palm Vx and I have this habit recently of using it before bed, reading the news or playing games, or whatever. And the thing is, I ALWAYS FALL ASLEEP while I'm using it, so EVERY NIGHT I DROP my poor Palm onto my hardwood floor. And EVERY MORNING I wake up and it's A-OKAY -- no cracks, nothing! It really would be broken by now without the Rhinoskin. So it does the job!! The only glitch with this case is that once your Palm is in there, it's a pain to get out. And for synching in your cradle (w/my Vx), you kind of have to rest it carefully on there with the case butterflyed-out to make it fit. It's no big deal; just a little awkward. Overall, it's a great case.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not bad
This is my first hard case. Previously, I had been using E&B leather cases for my Palms.
The pros of this case:
* Relatively easy to open - the palm hard case is comparatively tough to open quickly.
* Tough - can take a knock and doesn't appear worse for wear
* Hard to scuff the metal - the Palm hard case marks up easily
* Easy to slide out Palm from case to sync. Some people have said their palms have fallen out when they open the case - considering this would only occur if you are not careful I dont really have an answer. The fact is that if you want to sync each day as I do, you need to take it out of the case, which means the sliding is what the case spine is meant to allow.
* Doesn't cause the palm buttons to be pressed - as has been claimed with the Palm hard case.
* looks smart on a desk

The negatives of this case:
* The hinge metal work could be more stylish
* You have to take the palm out to sync
* Left on a desk, the case can attract attention and dissapear.

Conclusion: I like this case and I think it does a good job. It has protected my Palm for the last 6 months without incident. Its surface has also held up well and hardly has a scratch on it that shows. If you need a hard case because you are a little brutal with your electronic gadgets, then this is the case for you.

1-0 out of 5 stars RhinoSkin Aluminum folding case
I, too, had heard that these were primo cases. I purchased one on-line for my new m-515 and had it in my paws in short order. When I opened the box, I found exactly what I had seen on the computer screen - sort of.

The pictures on the RhinoSkin web-page show a beautifully-styled case. What they DON'T show is the tacky, cheap-looking exterior hinge, replete with sharp edges on both ends. The inside edges of the case were kind of sharp, too. A real let-down, but I was really happy I didn't spring for the titanium version.

This turkey went back into the box and was promptly exchanged for the pricier Palm aluminum case. If shopping for an upscale, tough-as-nails, and convenient-to-use SUV-class case for your Palm, the Palm product is the one to buy.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not for an M505
I had heard this was the best cases on the market when they came out and were originally designed for the Palm V. However, while the new cases say they fit the M505, mine did not. The rail was too skinny and my Palm M505 slid right off the rail and onto the floor--thank goodness it was carpeted! They supply plastic adjusters to slide onto the rail so it can fit the Palm V, but my husband tried his on it and it slid off too. Most other reviewers just put a piece of tape on the end so that it will provide a catch to hold it on the rail--but, I don't like having to pay so much for a case and having to provide my own tacky fixes! I tried the case on an M500 and it fit good, but not it does not fit for the M505. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good protection
I'm sure my palm will be well protected now if it gets run over by a truck. The case offers great protection, but there are a couple of draw backs. The case makes the overall mass of the unit pretty large. If you carry this in your pocket, it really sticks out. It does come with a belt clip, but who wants to carry something that big on they're belt? Why not switch to a PDA phone then? Watch your fingers too! This thing clamps shut pretty good and can pinch your fingers! It will not fit on a Palm cradle for charging.
It is the best protection out there for the Zire 71. It's nice to be able to slide the camera out of the case, but you have to watch out not to slid the whole Palm out of the case. It is well secured in the protective case, but it can be pushed out when flipping up the camera part.
In the long run, I would recommend this case over all the other's because of it's sturdiness. It's the best protection for your Zire 71! :-)

4-0 out of 5 stars excellent case - perfect for the zire
This case is special made for the zire 71. It is made of durable aluminum and is very light in color. kinda like tin foil except much much harder.

The flap opens to the right... for some people this is counter-intuitive but i'm left-handed and had no problems. For right handed folks it may be a little awkward to open the cover and actually use it while holding it with the left hand.

The padding inside covers every area of the zire. The expose sections are for the IR, stylus, headphone jack and palm universal adapter. Yes, it does not charge in the cradle that it came with so i bought the boxwave mini-sync which is great for travelling. I recommend it if you buy this case. I can charge and sync while the pda is in the case.

it does get a lot of attention unlike a low-key leather case but then again, i can't put a leather case in my jeans pocket. this one i can w/o any worries.

warning, be careful when stuffing your hand into your pocket with this case in it... you might cut your finger on the edges. it's not because the edges are sharp... but they are made of metal... and don't take kindly to any force applied to it...

enjoy.

3-0 out of 5 stars 3 out of 5 -- Great little case, small form factor.
I've banged the heck out of my case in just 5 months and it looks like it's been to the moon and back--but I just really seem to like this case. It's rugged, it's solid, and I feel confident having hard protection for the screen. My only gripe is the cheezy plastic belt clip. To use it, you have to screw a threaded knob into the back of the unit--and then attach the plastic clip to that. That's fine and dandy, but because that metal knob is a screw, it's prone to coming out. I've had my case take a few tumbles from my belt because the screw/knob had become unthreaded. I e-mailed customer support at Saunders and was told that's normal and to just use a pair of pliers to super-tighten the knob. Strange. Anyway--I used superglue on the screw threads to hold it tight--and haven't had any problems since--until today, where the entire plastic belt clip broke into 5 pieces and the case slid off my belt. I'm in the process of contacting customer support again to see if I'm in any position to get a replacement. Great case, but awkward/cheap belt clip design.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Hard Case
I have had several PDA's and this is the best hard case I have used. It fits extremely well, and leaves the ports accessible. In addition, there is memory card storage built in.

2-0 out of 5 stars Adds bulk, not totally expandable
This is a great product if you don't mind adding some bulk to your Zire 71, but it was bulkier than I had expected.
The product description says your PDA is fully expandable within the case, but that's only partly true. You cannot fit an encased Zire 71 into the hotsync cradle. The thin foam padding also seems to push the Zire 71 a little out of alignment with the cutout slot for the Universal Connector, so I'm not sure if you could plug in a free cable into the bottom of an encased PDA (though I haven't tested that). ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Case for the price
This case is small, snug, secure and comfortable. I've had 3 diifferent cases for my Axim since I bought it 2 years ago and this is by far the best. The only thing negative that I can say about it is that some sites state that you can actually dock the unit to the cradle with the case on. That is not the case, and I would not try forcing it either. Other than that, I think it's great!

4-0 out of 5 stars I'm happy with it
Good fit and protection. I think the Axim is a little big to hang on the hip so I don't use the belt clip (it is removable - so no problem.) ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good but not worth cost
I purchased the case 6+ months ago and found the following issues:
Brass zipper scratched my Jornada

Zipper ripped due to extensive use and manufacturer has absolutely NO warrantee after 30 days (so i was told).

Velcro was not a problem as there is really no other way to attach the jornada w/o a custom built sleeve (which I was aware of prior to purchasing the case)

All in all the case is very nice and held the necessary items I needed to haul around with my person (cards, money, etc). I was mostly unimpressed with their (RhinoSkin) customer satisfaction policy (absolutely none). They didn't even offer to sell me another case at a discounted rate (which I would have been glad to do).

2-0 out of 5 stars Brass is harder than aluminum
It's a bit pricey, but very well built, nice leather, lots of slots to put things in, heavy duty brass zipper. I got this to hold my Jornada 548, which fits nicely, very secure and snug into the case. The only killer is the zipper - a brass zipper makes a nice saw, and although the fabric it's sewn to is also heavy, there is no protection between the brass zipper and the PDA. I found this out the hard way, with zipper imprints left in the bottom of my Jornada. I've been very careful when removing PDA from case (e.g. for charging), because a careless swipe across the zipper would no doubt cut into the case, if just carrying it can dent the aluminum Jornada. I'd hate to see what would happen to a plastic PDA. So, I'm returning it in favor of a nylon zipper case or something else. Fact is, the Jornada, with screen cover, is probably safer OUT of the case and in a pocket than in the case (which fits few pockets).

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice... but expensive
Sturdy, nice-looking, attractive color and texture.

It's a little too tight for a Palm IIIc, even after taking the flip cover off, also, they must have a better method to attach the PDA other than velcro pads. Can't sync using the sync cable without removing from case

Very bad delivery - just the case in a clear plastic bag: no insert, no warranty, no instructions. It is WAY overpriced, even with Amazon's discount the only reason to buy it is if you have a free certificate.

3-0 out of 5 stars Rhino Skin leather PDA case
Sturdy, nice-looking case with embossed logo on the front. Attractive color and texture, but it looked matt when it arrived. I tried a little neutral shoe wax on one of the inside panels and it came up fine, so I went over the whole case, and it now has a nice satin sheen.

It's a little tight-fitting with a Palm IIIc, even after taking the flip cover off. No big deal, except that's where I had the graffiti help stickers. Also, you have to tuck the end of the zip down to avoid having a lump sticking out the top.

Interesting delivery - just the case in a clear plastic bag: no insert, no warranty, no instructions. Nada. Zip. Fortunately, I was able to figure out how to unpeel the Velcro and stick it to the back of the Palm, (all by myself). At this price, it would be nice to say "thanks for buying our product": it is WAY overpriced, even with Amazon's $15 break. Fortunately, I had a promotional certificate for $50, so it was essentially free. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Indestructible
In over a year of hard usage I have yet to tear the rubber pads as reported in other reviews. My Palm V has been dropped onto concrete, sat on, and otherwise abused for over a year inside this case with no damage yet. OK, it's heavy... like a tank. But then it's supposed to be armored protection for the Palm V. The other case I tried was a casualty, along with the Palm V inside. This case provides armored protection for hard usage. It lacks refinement, but so do most tanks. If you want light weight, refinement, and aesthetic virtue then this product isn't for you. If you want serious protection from physical damage during hard use then this case is the ticket.

1-0 out of 5 stars Consider another case.
When I bought this case, I thought it would be great because I put a lot of stress on my Palm. I was bitterly disappointed when I found out how heavy it was and how hard it was to adjust the tightness of the case. You basically have to bend the edges against a hard surface to desired fit. Also, the grating sound when sliding the cover on and off will make you clench your teeth. It's like scratching a chalkboard. If you're not careful, the Neoprene on the inside will rip off if you force your Palm in the case. If there was a zero star rating, this product would earn it. My Rhino case is gathering dust...

1-0 out of 5 stars Overpriced Useless Bulky Case
The case is very bulky, and poorly made. The case does not close properly, and does not provide an easy undamaging way of removing and reinserting the Palm into its case. In addition, it has sharp pointy edges and shows fingerprint and tarnish very easily. Requires constant cleaning, and the foam Palm support is very fragile. It is also difficult to remove the stylus, and to beam items while in the case. Only recommend if you are very hard on items.

5-0 out of 5 stars Expensive, but it's still a great case
Despite all the complaints of weight and how basic the holder is, it's a great case... Great for lefthanders. I didn't think much about it before reading reviews, but I can see how a clam shell would hind use. My only dissappointment was that... they didn't include a chrome stylus. The edges are not sharp as other reviews state. Great case, go for the gold (or Titanium in this "case").

2-0 out of 5 stars Like a tin can...
Surprisingly junky and primitive; makes the Palm V very bulky, almost Soviet. Easy to pinch and cut yourself with this, so be careful...I traded mine in for the official Palm hard case, which is just fine. (NB. Similar to another reader, my screen cracked when it was in the Palm leather holder with the front loop; $100 to replace, so a hard case is a must in my opinion.) ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars good, but...
The case itself is great! The problem is the belt clip. It breaks too easily...which is why I know that the case is so good.

3-0 out of 5 stars Yes, the belt clip can be fatal, but...
It's a well-built case (aside from the belt clip), that opens like a book, so lets you access the screen easily. There's enough space in the upper left side to loop a sturdy string, or some other material, to make a neckstrap of sorts.

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice case but watch out for the belt clip attachment
I tested the ruggedness of this case when my PDA went flying to the sidewalk because of the poor design of the belt clip attachment. A small metal stud screws into the case, but no matter how tight you screw it in it always loosens. It unscrewed its way all the way out and the PDA fell to the sidewalk. The bottom of the Rhinoskin was dented, and the SD card popped out, but the PDA was undamaged.

If you use the belt clip, put a drop of Loctite or Cyanocryolate (super glue) onto the threads of the metal stud before screwing it into the case.

The case is very sleek, but also very slippery, so keep a good grip on it and be careful when letting others use it as they may not realize how slippery it is. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good protective cover for Axim
I was looking for a cover to secure and protect my Axim. This Rhinoskin does both. The inside of the door contains two slots for storing SD cards. Everything is fully accessible, buttons, cards, stylus, and connections. Very durable for the 4 weeks I've been using it. It also includes a screw in pin to attach to a belt clip on the back (I carry my Axim in a pocket so I didn't need the screw in pin).
The only problem I've noticed so far is the Axim does not fit in the charging station with the cover on. It must be taken off to charge and connect with the base station (both connections are available with the cover on, just won't fit in the base).
Overall a very nice product, the finish looks great and a very good design. Very satisfied. Good value. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Tight Fit But Better Than Aluminum Case
I originally bought a Rhinoskin aluminum case, but it was VERY difficult to use the PDA while it was in the case with the front open -- especially for someone who is left-handed and has somewhat large fingers. There's simply no way to comfortably and securely get a grip on the case because the front doesn't fold back. This case -- because the front folds back behind the PDA -- solved the problem. It's a tight fit -- kind of difficult to snap and you have to slide the case to get complete access to the headphone jack -- but I assume things might improve as the leather softens. I bought the aluminum case because my PDA goes in a bike bag, but this case seems to provide protection that is almost as good.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not What I Expected - Maybe My Fault
I ordered the Rhinoskin Leather Case for my 1900 Series Ipaq. When it arrived I examined the case and it looked very high quality. Then I slid my Ipaq in, and the diappointment started. The case didn't fit like I thought it would. I guess I should have known, since I have never found a leather cell phone case that I thought fit just right. However, I will admit that case does add very little weight or size to the Ipaq and when the case is closed, it appears to fit rather tightly. Not a bad product, just not what I was expecting.

5-0 out of 5 stars One Word ¿ Perfect
I have been looking for a case for my iPaq 1935 (same size as the 1910 & 1945) for a few days. This is the ONLY case I found that does everything I want. You can reach every control and port on the iPaq. It doesn't cover the IR port or the data port, so you can sync your iPaq with out having to take it out of the case. All the quick navigation buttons and the power button are accessible. It has two pockets for SD cards in the cover that I keep my Wi Fi and memory cards in. The cover is stiff but not too hard, just enough to protect the screen. The cover is kept closed by a high quality snap. The only reason you need to take the iPaq out of its case is if you have to softboot, there is no access for the button on the side. Not a big deal because you normally don't have to do it too often but can be a small annoyance. I highly recommend this case for anyone with a iPaq 1900 series Pocket PC.

2-0 out of 5 stars it's not aluminum
This product came up under the search term "aluminum" and at the time had no photo. Verify the style before you order.

4-0 out of 5 stars As good as it gets
I've never found a PDA case (or cell phone case) that I'd call perfect, but this case is pretty close. The case is very high quality, and the removable belt clip is really nice. A belt clip is sometimes nice, but I hate having it permanent. The solution for this product is a velcro "hatch" in the back through which you can attach the clip stud if you want it in. My only complaint is that the case uses a snap button rather than magnetic tabs to keep the case shut. It does make it a little more secure in a bag, but it prevents you from making a truly silent opening/closing during a meeting. All the necessary ports are available in the case (USB plug, stylus, headphone, etc. A nice side-effect of the case is that it protects the record button from being accidentally hit (and thus turning the thing on and wasting your battery. Overall, this is just about the best PDA case I've tried, and I'd recomend it. ... Read more
