1-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful product for a rip-off
I can't even believe that Memorex decided to put this out for the Christmas market season. After mine died, I opened it up to test what had happened in my case, and found that my water-resistant speaker was shot. If Memorex is going to market a radio as a "shower" radio, it needs to be able to withstand at least the amount of steam that you find on a bathroom mirror after a shower. Agreeing with some of the other reviews, I would not recommend this product for anyone, and feel that Memorex has violated my trust with them.

1-0 out of 5 stars Extremely Displeased
This unit has died unexplicitly. We have replaced numerous batteries and the unit refuses to work. After reading some of the other reviews (albeit too late), I guess I feel a bit gratified because the unit worked for 68 days instead of just one week. I have made repeated phone calls to customer service and have yet to speak to a person. I am simply told to leave my name and number and someone will contact me. The call has not come. Summary: I regret buying this product (Christmas present for my son) and I will most likely not purchase other Memorex products, even their tapes...this experience has left a sour taste in my mouth.

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible product, terrible customer service
This is the first online review I've ever written, but I was compelled by how awful this product was and then by how indifferent the customer service was. I got this as a gift, and thought it would be great for my 6 year old son who likes to listen to kids music while he takes a bath. But the CD player mysteriously stopped working after about a month. Then, when I finally got through to customer service, the woman on the line said they could do absolutely nothing for me without a receipt (even when I offered to give her the serial # off the player, which presumably would tell them it was just purchased and is still under warranty). When I asked to speak to her supervisor, she said she had none. I would never buy anything from Memorex ever again.

1-0 out of 5 stars Drains batteries, broke down after a couple of month
My radio just could't get enough power. It swollowed batteries without first chewing them. Finally, it broke down two month later - the sound disappeared. No sound from radio and from CD. I decided not to repair, but to throw it away. Don't even want to waste shipping fees on fixing it.

1-0 out of 5 stars JUNK
This riadio did't meet any of my expectations. It is big, fragile, and stoped workin the first time I used it with a CD, and never worked again... Not even the radio. It lasted for about 2 days... Don't waste your $$. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Poor unit for this price.
I agree with all others on this unit. Nice sounding speakers but the radio reception poor. No dimmer switch and the display button is for displaying the cd tracks if anyone needs to know. But over all alarm is loud enough to wake the heavy sleeper. They need to make these radios with pull out antennas.

1-0 out of 5 stars doesnt work
Everything worked fine for about a week, then it stopped playing burned CDs, then all CDs, then the radio stopped picking up stations. Works great as an alarm clock, but then why not just buy a ceap alarm clock? Definitely wouldn't recommend this product to anyone.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not a great product
Display way too bright, sound quality just okay. The one that I bought, I returned because the clock was really fast. The only thing I really liked about it was the big display (except for the fact that it lit up the whole room).

1-0 out of 5 stars ::Still Sleeping::
I was really disappointed after i got this alarm clock. It worked fine for a few days, although the sound qaulity was rather disappointing. Then everything just fell apart...the cd player stopped working first, playing tracks only when it felt like it. The alarm would go off sporadically and was very unreliable; it seemed like whenever i needed to wake up the most it never rang. I've since returned the item. An alarm clock that picks and chooses when to wake me up isn't my idea of a great product.

2-0 out of 5 stars DOWPOW
I'll cut right to the chase. No adjustment for tone. Needs more bass in the speakers. The display at night will replace any nightlight you have on in the room. It is REALLY bright.I have to cover the display to go to sleep. The unit has a button for display but no reference to to what it does in the manual, it just shows that it is there? Called the manufacturer, talked with two different people and they informed me the button does not function on this model??? ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Illinois Consumer
I agree!! This clock/phone is awful! You cannot tell what time it is unless you hit a button to have it light up! What kind of clock is not lit up? The LCD display is awful on the caller ID. Even trying to move the phone around to look at a different angle does not work. I am definitely returning this item. Good idea, but very bad design.

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad phone, bad clock
This phone is awful! You can't see the display unless you are standing above it, so you can't see the time from bed. The phone sounds so bad that I will walk to the kitchen to answer instead of picking up in the bedroom. Sound is terrible and crackely on both the phone and the radio. Really a poorly made product. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Okay...
I've had this CD player/Clock Radio for maybe three years now. I bought it at Target. And, well, it still works. It plays my CDs fine, the biggest flaw seems to be that although I have reset the clock time and time again, it always ends up back about 10 minutes too fast. It can also be hard to find the radio station you're looking for, because the tuning is a knob and not digital. Overall, not a bad deal for your $$, but you could find something better.

1-0 out of 5 stars unbelievable. do not buy.
This is, without a doubt, the least user-friendly device I've ever encountered in my lifetime. The list of design flaws and outright offenses here could span several volumes, as the geniuses at memorex really must have sat around saying, "let's make an alarm clock that is so against all codes of user-friendliness, so disgustingly careless and poorly made, that it stands the test of time against all other shoddy alarm clocks - strike that - against all shoddy products in general." Ladies and gentlemen, I am proud to stand here and tell you that they've succeeded. Let it be known that this alarm clock is going down in history.

Today I am going to buy a new clock. Upon purchase of said new clock, I am going to wrap the old clock around some heavy rocks and throw it off the ben franklin bridge (no I'm not really going to do that - but I have every right to).

Listen. If you value your human rights, do not buy or use or come anywhere near this clock. I guarantee your life will be better for it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Everything works, but worth the price?
Well, everything works on this item. I have not had any problems with the CD player or the time or the radio. The radio and CD quality are what you would expect. My complaint is with the buttons...you need to memorize the manual or keep it by the clock. It may be just because I only need an alarm once in a great while and by that time I have forgotten how the buttons work, but figuring them out by messing with the clock is difficult. The shape of this clock is odd also. And, if light bugs you at night, you'll need to keep this one on the floor or covered with a towel, gads. So, I deduct 2 stars. And I wonder if the [money] I spent on it was worth it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Lots of problems
Worked for a month, then CD died, got another under warranty and CD died after 6 months. It is a design problem, stay away from it!

1-0 out of 5 stars Piece of Crap
I spent $50 on this thing, and it won't play my CDs! additionally, it refuses to work as an alarm, so don't buy this thing! spend your money elsewhere! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars I was happy UNTIL...
I was very pleased and excited when I got this CD alarm/radio. The sound is good, the features work well. It's easy to figure out how everything works and to program the various functions. I loved it. HOWEVER, the second week I had it, CDs started to skip more and more (they play fine on both my other players), which is VERY annoying, since playing CDs to go to sleep and wake up by is mainly what I bought it for...so think about how you are going to be using this one, and how often.

5-0 out of 5 stars What a wonderful gift this makes

4-0 out of 5 stars Great CD Alarm Clock!
I decided to get rid of my Sony Dream Machine and replace it with the Memorex MC2850. I have had the memorex for 3 weeks now and it's been great! I like listening to music before I go to bed and what better way then to listen to my favorite CD and set the sleep timer to 90, 60, or 30 minutes and it will turn off automatically. The buttons, especially the volume and alarm controls do take time getting used to but after 2 weeks, I memorized where they all were. Although I do wish there was better placement of the volume control. The sound is stereo so for moderate to low level, it's great like in an office or bedroom. It's smaller than I expected, it doesn't take that much more space than your typical alarm clock!

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed in Durability
On the advice of another reviewer here, I bought this item for mydaughter for the Holidays. Within a month or so, it started actingup, and eventually the CD player stopped working. I know that theprice is low, but if this is what you get... save your money and buyan alarm clock at Wal-Mart.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not That Great
I purchased this cassette player about a year ago and now I'm out shopping for a new one. The sound quality is not as good as the one it replaced (I wish I could remember what it was!). I never did master all the digital options - the alarm kept going off and without the directions close at hand, I found myself pushing every button to get it to turn off. But the worst of it was that it just stopped working - even with new batteries. It would not move the tape. The final blow was when I accidently knocked it of the kitchen counter and the fast forward button broke off. Actually, I was grateful, now I can justify buying a new one.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money
I bought two of these players for my kids. Within 3 months the alarm quit working on one unit and within 6 months the CD players quit working on both units. If you plan on using the CD player frequently, buy somethig other than this Memorex

1-0 out of 5 stars Worthless in less than a year
We bought this for my daughter last Christmas. After a few months the CD stopped working. We bought this type of clock radio specifically for the CD feature. With a 90 day warrantee this is now mostly worthless. I wish I had seen these reviews before I had bought it. Look elsewhere for a CD clock radio.

1-0 out of 5 stars HOW can Memorex put their name on this product?
I bought one of these items for my desk at work. Several days after getting it set up and familiar, the clock malfunctions and gains/loses time. The CD player then stopped working and, shortly thereafter, the radio as well. I got it replaced with the exact same item, only to have the CD player be so off-balance as to have the entire unit shimmy when a CD was spinning. Of course, the laser couldn't read the CD, so it didn't play. Worse yet, it's gone UP in price since I originally purchased it!

1-0 out of 5 stars Chinzy CD player
All I can say is this does not work in any sense of the word. This product's utter failure at what it was designed to do (play cds and tell time) is both amazing and apalling. The top that encloses the cd while its playing (when that works) is horribly mis-aligned. It does not close properly. Also, the digits irritatingly blink on and off. It loses time...up to 40 minutes later than I had set it originally! Right now (after 3 months of tolerating this) it no longer will turn on to play my cds or to turn on the radio tuner. Although the digits still appear (blinking), it doesn't change the time at all. When I try to reset the clock, the digits turn off! Thus NOTHING works right on this thing. It is utterly useless. Don't even think of BUYING this JUNK.

2-0 out of 5 stars On second thoughts, maybe skip this one
I wrote a fairly positive review after getting one of these, but shortly thereafter, it permanently stopped playing CDs. Next the alarm became unreliable (not exactly a desired feature in an alarm clock).

Finally, the alarm quit altogether. Given the similar reports I'm seeing here... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Mine works Great, and I love it.
I don't know what these other reviewers are talking about, I have had great luck with this and all of the Memorex products that I have purchased. This item hangs down and is designed to do so, it is a under cabinet mount radio, they all hang down, some more than others....

1-0 out of 5 stars bulk-o-rama
Compared to other models (especially by Sony) this one is quite the clunker! It's very big and hangs down low. It seems very low tech. Once you get a quick look at it, you can tell that design is not a factor at all. Spenda little more and get something cool and sleek that you'll use for years to come.

1-0 out of 5 stars Memorex products are cool, but.....
The MC-3800 that I got had a weak front end (Receiver)and poor sound quality at lower volume levels. The equipment is designed well and functionality is great but fails to produce the sound quality of receivers that are a fraction of the cost. The CD player works great but there again, the lower volume sound levels sound distorted or deminished. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Very nice...and confusing
I've had this alarm clock for about 2 years. I really like it because it has some awsome functions. I can wake up to whatever song I want thats on a cd, it has a duel alarm, easy to program time, and nice speakers. The cons are that, at first, it is very hard to figure out how to set the alarm to a song thats in the middle of the cd. I now hate the sound of when it turns on in the morning, but thats just because I have to wake up so early every day :(. I would definitley reccomend this even though you may have to read the instructions more than once to get it working the way you want.

PS: Did I mention it's a really cool shade of blue?? ... Read more
