1-0 out of 5 stars Crapy item
the only difference betwwen this and the one they come with is that its heavier and uglyer

VERY BAD!!!!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars The reviews here convinced me
I am so glad the reviewers wrote about this stylus. I ordered it at the same time I ordered my Palm IIIxe. It's an excellent replacement for the very lightweight sytlus supplied. I join with the others in recommending it heartily.

I realized today, using the sytlus for about an hour working on the Palm, that eventually I will also want one that is the size of a regular pen. Gripping the thin stylus got quite uncomfortable after long use. But for regular use, this replacement stylus is still easier to use than the original.

5-0 out of 5 stars Must-have for your palm
Esp. for Palm users with large hands. I purchased a Palm IIIxe recently. The single fault of the IIIxe is the dinky stylus which comes from the factory. Spend the few extra $$ and get this stylus. The extra heft and weight are a must-have. Plus it still fits in the stylus-holster located on the back of the Palm. Simply toss the factory stylus in the trash and put this stylus in its place.

5-0 out of 5 stars Upgrade your PDA
This was my first upgrade after buying a Palm IIIx. The stylus that comes with the Palm Pilot feels very light in your hand. I found that my hand was cramping-up using the supplied stylus.

The Panache Stylus is made of metal, has more weight, a Bright Orange tip, ribs where your fingers go, and a nail-like head to make it easier to remove from your Pilot. The orange tip provides good contrast when writing on the screen.

It even has a Reset pin when you unscrew the top and bottom. You don't need this very often but it's really nice that it's built-in.

It just seems more solid and comfortable when writing using the PDA Panache Custom Palm III Stylus. Upgrade and save your hand!

I even bought one of the PDA Panache Triple Function Stylus for everyday use. It includes a pen, pencil, and stylus in a nice chrome pen. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Defective
I received this item as a Christmas gift. It broke just 3 weeks ago and I have been unable to repair it. A co-worker of mine, had the exact same problem with this item. Given the expense, I would not recommend this item to anyone. There are far more reliable products on the market for either the same or lower cost.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Pen, Sharp looking.
If anyone needs instructions for this pen or cannot figure out how to use it in 5 minutes, this person should not be allowed around a couputer, ID TEN T errors... This pen is not only multyfunctional it is just cool. You have a black pen, a pencil, PDA stylus and Red-Fluorecent pen. It is not heavy for all the stuff inside of it, or too bulky. The Matrix Grip does its job wonderfully. This is a pen to have in your desk and use for all your needs without having to get your stylus out of the PDA, plus it works a lot better than the PDS's in my oppinion. A great buy. If you still have not figure out how to work it, there are little pictures of what you want to use in the top side of the pen by the clicker, whatever picture is facing up, that is what you will get. It is very simple to use.

1-0 out of 5 stars Bleh - wouldn't buy another
No directions at all? Pppppbbbbbt.

Comes in a simple blister pack like any supermarket papermate, so the only instructions available would have to be on the back. Yet all that's there is some (...) message on cleaning a PDA. As if the PDA manufacturer's instructions wouldn't cover this...

So far, I've had no luck on figuring this pen out. It works pretty much like a bic, but instead on getting a ballpoint pen, you get one of four tips - a red pen, a black pen, a stylus, or a pencil. So far, it seems pretty random. I've tried twisting the cap, pressing at angles, twisting the base. No luck at all. There are little icons just below the cap every quarter turn that seem to suggest the cap needs to be turned, yet that doesn't work.

So off I went to (...). Sure enough, they continue their boneheaded lecture online with directions not to scratch your PDA, how to clean your PDA properly, and even their opinion on applying RainX to your PDA (GEEZ) but unfortunately they omit anything related to instructions on their /own/ products.

Bleh. Other negatives --- cheap tin feel, red pen has funky flourescent tint and requires a very heavy hand - far too heavy for me to bother using, pencil lead advance binds mechanically.

Four functions, does none of them very well with the possible exception of the black ink pen. Pass.

Where'd these other two glowing reviews come from? I don't work for this PDA Panache company if you couldn't tell...

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product
This unit is a fine writing instrument and very classy as well. I'm in high-level senior meetings on a regular basis and am proud to pull the Panache out of my pocket to switch between paper and iPAQ. Needless to say, everyone is impressed!

A couple of points worth noting: The ink pen is a VERY fine point so for those that like a medium, this pen isn't for you. It's a vivid black and writes well, it's just fine. I particularly like the red pen, it's more like a neon red so really stands out when I "bleed" all over coworkers drafts. The stylus is orange so it's easy to spot check to be sure you don't accidentally write with ink/pencil on your PDA. Also, the mechanism to deploy the different tips is something I've never come across before - you simply hold the pen horizontally with the icon picture of the tip you want and press the end, there it is! Press the button and the tips retracts. Turn the pen with the next icon facing up and there IT is. It took me a bit to get used to but now I love it.

Lastly, the finish is excellent and the rubber nubs give just the right amount of grip. The wife tried the pen and now I have to get another one!!! She actually took it and tells me how much SHE loves it.

If you get it, I think you'll like it.

5-0 out of 5 stars One Great Pen
I have the Panache custom visor stylus in my visor, but I'm always searching for a pen. I decided that I would try a multi-function pen. This is one of the best pens that I have owned, much less the best stylus. I would highly recomend this pen. The highlighter is pretty neat, it is just the width of a normal ball point pen, so you just make a swipe through the middle of the word and it is highlighted. Like I said, one great pen. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great, but with some flaws
This multifunction stylus is a great unit, dont get me wrong, carrying around three sticks in your pocket can get quite uncomfortable at times. But I do have some gripes about this unit. The grip on it really isnt a grip, and I found that it slipped out of my hands sometimes till I bought a little foam grip to slip over the black portion of the barrel, costing less than a quarter. And the ink on the barrel can rub off, but by the time it does you memorize which way to hold the pen to get your desired function. And sometimes I find that my lead is broken when I try to use the pen, like it gets broken if you leave lead in the barrel. Aside from the gripes, the weight is GREAT for this pen. It sure doesnt feel light and plastic-y like the stylus on my M105. The orange tip makes it great for visiblity especially with screen protectors. The snap function is also great, easy to use, and the pen and pencil functions work well most of the time.
Overall, A great starter unit, and it is built to last.

3-0 out of 5 stars writes best when it works!
I just received this stylus yeterday, (july 11, 2001). The stylus was great. It was very easy and also very fun to use. Then the next day I woke up and found out it was also very easy to break. When I took of the cap I had the stylus end selected. For no reason I gave it a little twist on the end, thinking nothing would happen. I was wrong! The Stylus part lost a lot of its spring back and was almost useless because it would always jam. I thought to my self, "well I am sure I can just brake into this puppy and fix it", that was a bigger mistake. When I tried that I just made it even worse and the whole stylus trio was gone. The stylus was a great tool and worked out great unfortunately it wasn't idiot proof. I recommend this stylus to anyone who needs the trio action to help them, but be careful and don't play around with it!

5-0 out of 5 stars All PDA's should ship with this stylus!!!
I have had mine since Jan 2000 and it has been nearly trouble free. None of the problems with pencil that the previous reviewer had. The rubber grip on mine is just starting to show a little wear, but it doesn't effect my use of it. Since this is the only pen that I carry, it has held up extremely well.

The ball point pen is one of the best that I have used. No skipping or ink dots, just smooth, consistant writing.

Another thing that I realy like is that the stylus tip seems to be made of a harder material than many others, such as the Cross. This became an issue when I began using the WriteRight screen protectors. The Cross stylus was being ground down and leaving residue on the protector, which has a slightly course texture, and was very difficult to write fast with. The Panache tip felt like I was writing with a regular pen on paper and did not rub of or wear as the Cross stylus did.

Overall, this is a great tool. There are three marking at the top of the pen: an orange dot, a black dot and a 0.5. You lean the pen to the side with the dot of the tip you would like to use facing up, press the top, and you get the tip you want. The stylus tip is bright orange, so there is no mistaking it for the pen or pencil. It really blows people away when they see you writing on paper in ink, then you switch over to the Palm with just a click.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great multi purpose device with some problems
I received this pen for Christmas because I was cramping up my hand writing with the stylus included in my Palm III. I didn't want to carry a pen, pencil, and the tiny stylus.

It is a great pen with a few flaws. The rubber grip coating is not durable enough and mine has been gouged and stratched off in a few spaces. The pencil tip unscrews itself and falls off in the pen regularly and the pencil mechanism jams easily. Also the eraser is small and I have not found replacements yet. The pen and stylus point are top notch.

Overall it is a usefull tool and much more comfortable than the basic stylus but it could use some more work. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Strength and compatiblity
We often buy more than 2 stylus pens for our pda so far. But, we don't have to do any more with this PDA Panache Deluxe Stylus pen which is compatible with stylus holders of Palm m100 series. It's strong enough to use as long as the palm and the design is also cool!!! It cost a little bit higher than the regular stylus pen but you can save the same money because you don't have to buy again as it's not broken at all unless you don't lose it. However, I hope to say that there's real stylus pen for palm series now with stroung body and perfect capatatiblity. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Waste of money
OK, sorry, but this has a fatal flaw - it rolls. It rolls off of the desk every time I set it down. (I guess that's why it has a hot-orange tip, because you'll be looking for it a lot.)It's flared nail-head top is difficult to dig out of my case (I'm using an Incipio zip-up case), yet it sticks out further than the original Visor-provided stylus. There are NO human factors benefits to it, and it's ridiculously overpriced. Save your money.

5-0 out of 5 stars They will be coming out with a stylus just for the Prism
I contacted PDA Panache and they will be coming out with a stylus just for the Prism, and will replace mine. Once they come out with the new one, I'd recommend it to people.

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice, but too hard to remove from slot
I had a stylus from the same people for my Palm Professional for quite a while and really liked it. This one, though it just too hard to remove from the slot on my Visor Prism. (I don't know how it fares on other slots). When my prism is it its case it is a struggle to remove it (you pretty much have to have good fingernails.)

That is a pretty significant problem. I really like the feel of the stylus, though, and the tip makes it very easy to see. If they were to fix the problem with getting it out of the case (which could easily be a new top piece) I'd highly recommend it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Safer on the screen than the kind that ship with most PDA's
Most PDA's, Visors included ship with a low-quality plastic stylus that almost always scratches the screen. I haven't seen a single scratch yet from using this one. Also it is weighted better, feeling more natural in the hand. It has a nail-type of top which makes it stick out of the top of the Visor a bit, which makes it easier to remove while using some of the more form-fitting cases. This style of top could, however, get in the way of larger Springboard modules, but I haven't seen an example of this yet. Its reset pin, accessed by unscrewing the top, is a blessing... no more searching for a paper clip to perform a reset after a crash. It is perfectly round though making it prone to rolling off of table tops. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best stylus I own...
Great stylus: feels more like a pen, absolutely love it! My Visor case has a stylus slot where I keep it for quick access, so I'm less concerned about its size. If you want a stylus that is comfortable, has a little weight to it and that looks great, get this one!

2-0 out of 5 stars there's a better stylus out there
The Panache stylus may look good but it has 2 problems: 1) It rolls off the table. 2) It sticks out way too much.

There's a much better stylus out there from Pentopia: the Chameleon Visor stylus - T11FV This is made especially for the Visor. I can't believe that Amazon and many other places aren't even selling this one. It is really nice. It has a reset pin plus a pen inside. The tip is EXACTLY like the one from PDA Panache, but the design of the stylus is a lot better.

Advantages: 1) It does not stick out. 2) It has the ridges at the end (just like the original stylus that comes with the visor) so it is easy to remove from your handheld. 3) Because it is wedge-shaped like the original visor stylus at the upper end, it won't roll off the table. 4) It is very light. 5) the cost is the same...

4-0 out of 5 stars I love this stylus
I love the feel of it, the weight and heft. It can be a little slippery, but I don't squeeze it as much as I seemed to do the first couple of plastic styli I tried, so it hasn't been a problem.
It fits perfectly in the slot of my Prism, and the top is enough larger than the shaft to be able to easily push it out of the slot when I want to use it.
I love the look of the bright shiny chrome, and the orange tip does help with visibilty on the screen. This is especially good for a person of limited depth perception (me). The tip is smooth besides, and doesn't dig into the screen. I do use screen protectors against everyday wear.
The only thing I would change, if I ran the zoo, would be to add a screwdriver point like the Handspring stylus has.
I love this stylus.

4-0 out of 5 stars Amazing! it's better than the Visor Stylus
I bought this stylus because the one that came with my visor was broken (just after fell down from 1.5 metter). This styles works better. I am really happy with this. My only complain is the cost that is high.

3-0 out of 5 stars Best stylus ever
I was first skeptical about buying this stylus, esspecially after reading that it sticks out of the Visor slightly. But this stylus is great. The weight of the pen makes it much easier to use than the stylus that comes with the Visor and the reset tool is a great idea. I recomend it to anyone who has a Visor ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars feels great, looks great
I get compliments on this stylus all the time. People love to take it from me and just hold it. It truly feels great. I tried literally dozens of different brands and types of styluses (stlyii?) before I decided this was the best one. I don't need one that's four colors of pen and a pencil and a stylus and has a pocket clip. All I need is a stylus that feels right when I write with it. This one is just about perfect. It's much, much heavier than the standard Palm stylus, and it's longer. The orange tip is highly visible against the screen or the backlight; it almost looks like it glows in the dark. And most importantly, the stylus fits exactly into the Palm III stylus slot, and it stays put. The only little quibble I have is that the stylus comes unscrewed a little too easily (there's a reset pin inside), but then again, I come unscrewed easily myself, so I can relate.

5-0 out of 5 stars This stylus fixed my Palm
My IIIc had developed a bad spot in the center of its alpha-writing area which was not receptive to stylus input, causing horribly mangled character recognition. I bought a foldaway keyboard in a desperate bid to extend its useful life, but it wasn't portable enough.

I got the PDA Panache stylus on a whim. Maybe it's just gentle enough on the screen that it seems safer and more natural to press a tiny bit harder ... but regardless, the bad spot becomes MUCH less noticeable when I'm using this stylus.

Other points: The nail-head top makes for a snug fit in the IIIc's stylus holder; no danger of falling out. Nice weighty feel and grooves for finger grip. The orange tip is so gentle on the screen that I'm hesitant to use the original plastic stylus -- for fear of (further) damaging my Palm!

I had been considering replacing my Palm before I got this stylus. Now, I simply don't need to.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great item
A must have for palm users. It improved the writing recognition and doesn't miss the spot after buying this. It feels great in the hand too. I love it.

3-0 out of 5 stars falls out of the Palm IIIc
Great stylus but it falls out of the Palm IIIc

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Stylus
This one is a keeper--6 months of heavey use. I want one just like it with a pen, but can't find one nearly as good. Good weighting, fits like glove in the sylus slot in my IIIxe, and recognition is excellent. All thumbs up. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Fit
I've had this stylus for over a year - have no problems with the sticking/loose stylus trap thanks to this stylus. Great construction, couldn't be happier.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this product
I bought this stylus expecting it to be something like the original Palm stylus. Well, it's not. It's ugly, doesn't fit well into my iPAQ and it's also overpriced.

Conclusion: Don't bother getting this. You'll be disappointed with it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not what's displayed
I ordered this product thinking (judging from the photo) that it would be an Ipaq-specific stylus. The product actually delivered has the same product name as that listed, but is, in fact, a three-in-one (pen, pencil, stylus) instrument that can be used for any PDA. Most importantly however, it is absolutely not the product advertised here. They still don't seem to have fixed this error even though I advised them of it when I returned the product. Don't buy this - it's not what you think. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars There are better ones
The major problem with this unit is that the top is always a little bit loose and needs to be tightened once in a while.

Bottom Line: Not really necessary to dig into your pocket to buy this one. It's about the same as the original stylus came with the palm unit.

3-0 out of 5 stars chrome not the best choice for the palmV
If functionality was everything this stylus would get a higher rating. I got this stylus on the strength of the first review, but the bright(!) silver styling contrasts poorly with the matte surface of my Vx. if aesthetics are important to you, you may want to wait for a matte version. Another product, the Palm combo stylus/inkpen has its faults but it has a great matte surface and looks terrific flush against the Vx.

this stylus sticks out like a chrome thumb.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Stylus for Palm V
The Palm V Custom Deluxe Stylus (Chrome) from PDA Panache is a grest replacement for the metal/plastic styli that came with your Palm V.

The Chrome is a durable electroplated finish. While fitted into the Palm V, the fit is perfect and the tolerance is very small giving it a very snug fit. It does not matter whether it is fit into the right or left stylus slot.

The additional weight of this stylus makes writing easier due to better balance. The shape of the stylus is in an ergonomically pleasing hourglass shape. The barrel is thinner near the bottom where your fingers would be. The thinner area also has grooves that keep the stylus from slipping from your grip. The top of the stylus has a rounded cap. There is also a bulge near the top of the stylus. It is considerable easier to remove the stylus than the original stylus that came with my Palm V.

The best part of this stylus is the screen-safe EasyView orange writing tip which is injection molded from 100% virgin DuPont Delrin. This tip is considerably more smooth than writing with the original Palm V styli and the orange tip is extremly visible.

I really love this stylus. I picked up the original stylus the other day and I just completely forgot how it felt. It just does not feel as right in my hand anymore. If you start using this stylus, you will never want to go back.

Pros: Very attractive styling Fits in both stylus slots. Great writing tip. Lifetime free tip repair.

2-0 out of 5 stars Sure it's got panache, but not much else...
It's cute, i don't like the plastic one the palm V comes with so i like the idea of a replacement stylus, but this just isn't the one. For the same price, the Chameleon stylus looks very similar with a metal barrel and better tip as well as has a pen on the other side.

This one looks good, but doens't have much else going for it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Near Perfection
I've found this to be probably one of the best stylus' available for the Palm Vx out on the market? Why? Because of its slim design and great feel when writing.

Many of the styli's used are bulky and just plain ugly. But, this black color makes the Panache very sleek and eye catching. Plus, its lightweight yet good feel in writing on the Palm Vx allows the user to write with ease.

When using the stock stylus that's included with the Palm Vx, I was afraid that I might scratch the screen. But, now I can write with confidence in knowing that the Panache writing tip is gentle enough to take care of my Palm Vx screen.

The only thing I would add onto this stylus would be a pen. That would actually come in handy, but for now, this is one stylus to get your hands on!

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice weight
This stylus has more weight than some of the other cheap plastic ones. Weight is a big bonus. A stylus with weight is important, because I have had some of the really light plastic ones, and it's hard for the Palm to recognize such light stylus. I like this stylus better than the original Palm stylus.

3-0 out of 5 stars It' good but...
It is next to impossible to remove it from the case. However, I really like to the way it feels in your hands. It gives you much better control of what you are doing vrs. the cheap plastic replacements they sell. Those are terrible!

If you can live with the difficulty of removing it from the case, I think it worth getting.

2-0 out of 5 stars Does not fit very well
It's a good deal, but it does not fit snug into the palm V. ... Read more
