Amazon.com Product Description

The PDV-0700 portable DVD player from Polaroid Electronics lets you enjoy your movies, music, and digital photos when you're on the road or relaxing in the comfort of your own home. Its autosensing power adapter (AC 100 to 240V, 50/60 Hz) makes it perfect for international use, too--a great companion for business or pleasure. The book-thin, MP3-friendly player features a broad, 7-inch LCD configured in a widescreen (16:9) aspect ratio whose dimensions closely approximate those of your favorite contemporary movies. A supplied rechargeable lithium-ion battery keeps your discs spinning for three to four hours between charges, and the player also comes with separate AC and DC power adapters for use indoors, in cars and boats--you name it.

The PDV-0700 also offers built-in stereo speakers for headphones-free listening, picture zoom, and compatibility with DVD-Video, CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3-encoded discs--not to mention digital photos stored as JPEG images on recordable CD (you can rotate and zoom on these, as well). Dolby Digital 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's digital-audio output (through a .125-inch minijack-to-RCA coaxial cable, not supplied) for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver.

Use the supplied AV interconnects to hook the player up with your television and/or stereo system. The supplied wireless, credit-card-sized remote control is just as useful within your home or without. Playback options include frame-by-frame slow motion, forward and reverse play, and multiple-angle viewing (with applicable discs). Headphones are not included, though you do get a handy splitter for listening with a friend.

4-0 out of 5 stars great DVD player for the price
This is a great machine for the price. The screen is a good size and the picture quality is good even when viewed from the side. The small overall size, even with the battery attached (the battery effectively doubles the thickness) makes it very portable. It also comes with a couple of accessories not found with the more expensive machines, like a car adapter as well as a 110 plug, and a splitter that allows you to plug 2 sets of headphones in. The sound is the only place were this machine falls short. The sound is okay at best with the built in speakers, but any background noise makes it nearly impossible to hear anything from them even with the volume all the way up. Not surprising since due to the size of the player the speakers are only a little bigger then headphone speakers, but with headphones or portable plug-in speakers the sound is superb. Besides the sound the only 2 complaints are that you can not control the volume with the remote and that the power switch is too easily turned on by accident (do not travel with the battery attached or you will find you have no charge when it comes time to watch a movie). The battery lasts 3.5 to 4 hours, long enough for 2 short movies or 1 long one. So if you are looking not to spend a fortune, nothing else come close in in the under $300 range.

4-0 out of 5 stars excellent picture, very good sound
Polaroid's portable DVD player PDV-0700 is a sharp looking, lightweight answer for trips in the car or long waits in an office. It has a very crisp picture, even when the picture is very dark. Many players can't handle this and the screen blacks out, but this player still shows all details.

The machine comes with Dolby speakers which sound good, but a little weak. When you plug in a set of headphones, however, the sound in them is great. The player will handle just about any format, from DVD to VCD to MP3 to CD-RW. It comes with a rechargeable battery which connects to the bottom of the machine. This powers the player for about 4 hours of constant playing. Of course, this player can also be used as the main DVD player in a house, with inputs to a TV and sound system. The remote is small and thin, and handles most features, but you have to go through a few hoops to do some things, like choose a chapter in a movie.

The only minor complaints I have about this machine are that the picture is not as good as some of the better machines I have seen, and the speakers could be a little better. However, these other machines also cost much more than the 300 dollars you would invest in this one. For the money, you won't do much better.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best choice for the price
I just purchased my third Polaroid PDV-0700 as a Christmas gift for my 8 year old. I purchased two in January (at $60.00 more each) for my 11 and 13 year olds. We love these machines. Polaroid was the third brand name we tried. The other two caused trouble right out of the box. Poloroid was also the only one that included all connector wires for electricity, auto power source, and to hook it up to your television for larger viewing audience. They also include a splitter so two sets of headphones can be used at once. The picture quality is great on both, but be sure you adjust it when you begin the first movie. The settings right out of the box are not the right ones for good color and brightness. Sound is OK if you are in a room by yourself, but in the car or a noisy house, use headphones, the stereo sound then is great. I've read reviews that say this machine is not durable enough, that a fall from a low table to the floor broke it. Duh, this is a piece of electronic equipment, not unlike a television. You wouldn't think of dropping your television and expect it to still work. We keep these players in the padded leather carrying bags that we use to hang them in the car. It holds all of the wires and remote as well and we've not ever come close to dropping one. One did have trouble with the picture freezing up and we did have to return it. Although we had to send that machine back for replacement, the replacement has worked fine. The other other one will not play our MASH collection for some reason, but they are the only DVD's that we have trouble with. I didn't purchase the extended warranty with the first two because I bought them through Best Buy and their extended warranty isn't as good a deal as Target's. The manufacturer gives only a 90 day warranty on labor charges. The one that was defective needed replaced in the first 90 days and Polaroid (actually it's Pettus Consumer Brands) replaced it promptly after I called for instruction, then followed the instructions for return that they gave. This time I purchased the Target 3-year replacement plan for 19.99. Compared to Best Buy, this is a remarkable offer. If you are in the market for a good but inexpensive DVD player, this is your best bet.

4-0 out of 5 stars great for price
I bought this pdvd player on sale. I chose it because of the price and 7 inch screen. I got it in a matter of days and started using it right away. I tried out my picture cd's, music cd's,dvd,etc..the great thing about this product is that it comes with all the cords you'll need. I had to buy heaphones--but that's a cheap investment. I am using it primarily to distract myself as I trudge on my treadmill, but also plan on using it as dvd player for my bedroom and in my car for long road trips(it has an adapter for the car!)

The design is sleek and modern, and it weighs practically nothing. The battery attaches easily..though you may not need to use it al that much because of all the adapters you can chose from.

The screen is clear and bright and the sound is good too.

I do,however, wish the buttons weren't made of plastic.

All in all--it is great for the price!

3-0 out of 5 stars still a good value
I've had this unit for almost a year and it still works good, except that the lid won't stay shut. I just use a little bit of tape to hold it down. For the price, I think it is a good value nonetheless. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars wife loves it!
Samsclub had the unit for a great price so I got it for my wife on Mothers day. I mounted it in the kitchen, using the template, cabled it to cable tv input and attached the fm antenna.

I was concerned about the previous reviews and the unit dying so I literally played dvd's, cd's, tv, and radio constant for many days. I have not had any problems with the unit.

the wife loves it. The screen is nice and bright (its set to the default brightness setting - low) and the DVD player has played anything I have thrown at it (- dvd -r, dvd +r, dvd -+rw) and everything plays just fine.

It seems that Polaroid thought of pretty much everything when they designed the unit. The remote control is magnetized so it sticks to the oven and is laid out very well, the controls on the unit front are easy to use.

All in all, it's been a fantastic puchase and I don't know why the two other reviewers had such problems with their units.

1-0 out of 5 stars Sad in my kitchen
I received this TV as a Christmas gift and the screen went completely blank just after the warrenty ended and of course Polaroid would do nothing for us.I would not recommend this TV.Plus you had a stand directly in front of it to see the image on the screen clearly.Too much money for such poor quality!!!!!!!!!!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Worked Great! ...for a week...
Got the unit; installed it; tested all the functions (CD, DVD, TV, Radio). It worked great!

However, after a week of just using the radio and the CD player, I tried to turn back on the TV or the DVD. The sound was good; however, the screen was black. If I shown a strong flashlight on the screen, I could just make out what was on the screen. But, there was NO illumination.

It seems to me that Polaroid has a few "kinks" to work out before this is a usable product. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

Looking for the final word in kitchen excitement? It's not a cooking appliance. Polaroid's compact FDM-1000A lets you watch broadcast TV, DVD movies, or listen to CDs, MP3 CDs, or even FM/AM radio, all in the comfort of a kitchen, bedroom, shed, or any place unfriendly to the traditionally bulky frame of a TV or stereo system. The unit offers a 10.2-inch, drop-down/fold-up LCD, a slim, a full-function remote control, a digital alarm clock, and stereo sound driven by 2.5 watts per speaker. It attaches to the underside of any conveniently positioned cabinet, so it takes up no counter space whatsoever, and it comes with all necessary mounting accessories.

The FDM-1000A's profile is just 3 inches thick when closed, and its DVD player is perfect for enlivening your long cooking stints. It's compatible with most recordable DVD formats (DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW) and it'll show JPEG images from recordable CDs. Watch step-by-step instructional cooking DVDs, or use its rear-panel audio/video inputs to hook up a VCR, gaming console, or camcorder.

Use the set's handy clock and on/off timers as cooking timers, to restrict gaming time, or to free yourself from monitoring the clock to see when the evening news is about to start. Parental locking lets you restrict access to certain scenes and DVD discs.

5-0 out of 5 stars I am impressed
I have to say, I am really impressed with the quality of this TV for the price. It has many features found on much higher priced televisions, yet is very simple to operate. The picture quality is excellent for a tv in this price range and installation onto a wall mount was a breeze. I mounted this tv above the double doors in my bedroom (where I had an electrical and cable outlet installed when we built the house) and it looks great! Very sleek and stylish, I need a new TV for our living room too, and If Poloroid makes a large screen flat screen I will definately look into it as well. Very satisfied here!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!!!
We recently purchased the Polaroid 20 inch LCD Flat Panel TV. It has clear, crisp pictures with unbelieveable color. The onscreen program guide is easy to follow when adjusting color, size, etc. I also recieved the Polariod portable DVD player with the pivitable screen for Christmas. I am very impressed and satisfied with the Polaroid company and plan on purchasing more items from them in the future!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good TV, bad PC monitor
I did order the 15 Pin VGA M-M cable but the monitor can only work at 800X600 or 640X480. Don't expect too much as having a 20" PC monitor.

Good TV indeed. I have tried out with PS2 and regular cable. It works gret.

It doesn't need a TV tuner. Even a 1024X768 TV tuner can't do a better job than a TV itself ... Read more

Should you really "shake it like a Polaroid picture?"
Ever since the song "Hey Ya" by Andre 3000 of Outkast came out, everyone is shaking their Polaroid pictures. Shaking or waving a Polaroid picture to help the development process originated in the early days of peel-apart film. After peeling the negative, the image needed to dry before it could be handled, so waving the photo helped it to dry more quickly. When using the integral films (600, Spectra, 500, SX-70/Time-Zero, i-Zone) that are used in our most popular current camera models (Polaroid One, OneStep, JoyCam, etc.), the image develops and dries behind a clear plastic window and never touches the air, so shaking or waving has no effect. In fact, excessive shaking or waving can actually damage the image. Rapid movement during development can cause portions of the film to separate prematurely, or can cause "blobs" in the picture. The best way to ensure a perfectly developed image is to simply lay the picture on a flat surface immediately after it exits the camera. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars best instant camera although it's my first
ok. even though i didn't have much info. about this product, i really needed an instant camera and
other products at amazon were not very tempting or pretty. so i had no better choice than to just purchase this.

i've been using this camera for about a week. and i've taken about 15 pictures[trying to save films]
and the results are just beautifully fine! some of the pictures
are just so lovely with great color and texture. also self-timer is really useful.
but i really never used red-eye preventing button yet. but i assume that's also helpful

if you want to check how the picture would look, look in here:

so if you're trying to buy an instant camera and don't know what to buy,
try this one. other cameras are too cheap or too expensive
this camera is just right amount of money to spend with great results!

i greatly recommned it ^-^

5-0 out of 5 stars Great results from a 'construction' camera
I bought this camera at a going-out-of-business sale at a local retail store about a year ago. I thought the 'construction' nature of the camera would make it more durable, while still providing fairly good pictures. Little did I know that the pictures would be so good!
I never would have guessed that this camera would take such crisp, clear pictures. I have shot more than a half-dozen pkgs of film and every picture has turned out fine. Please understand...this is not a 35mm camera with all the bells & whistles. It is a Polaroid instant camera (w/ flash) that produces good, instant pictures. That being said, it is very rugged and durable and will tolerate adverse weather better than your 35mm will. I have taken pictures in the rain w/o problems - you only have to remember to protect the film when it exits the camera. It needs to be kept dry & warm...just like any polaroid.
If you go into this with the correct expectations, you will not be disappointed.

4-0 out of 5 stars For the guy who has everything...
This camera is a great idea for someone who has everything, and who likes to do home improvement projects and keep track of them. It's quick to use, and has great space for reference for each project. And, it's easy enough to use to document little parts of each individual project, to see the details necessary. I'd recommend it for a home improvement buff who is hard to buy for. ... Read more

i've been using this camera for about a week. and i've taken about 15 pictures[trying to save films]
and the results are just beautifully fine! some of the pictures
are just so lovely with great color and texture. also self-timer is really useful.
but i really never used red-eye preventing button yet. but i assume that's also helpful

if you want to check how the picture would look, look in here:

so if you're trying to buy an instant camera and don't know what to buy,
try this one. other cameras are too cheap or too expensive
this camera is just right amount of money to spend with great results!

i greatly recommned it ^-^

I'd recommend it for a home improvement buff who is hard to buy for. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great depending on what you're using it for
Sure, the picture quality isn't nearly as good as a 35mm. Sure, the film is expensive and you only get ten exposures.

However, it's an INSTANT CAMERA. They're not known for their superior picture clarity and amazing color. If that's what you're looking for, then don't buy this camera.

I don't know a lot about cameras. I don't know anything about Polaroid and the technology behind the Polaroid One, but I can tell you that I am 100% pleased with this camera as it fits my needs perfectly. I'm using it to take a photograph every day of my 15 month old son to send to my husband who is doing a year long tour in Iraq.

The camera is uncomplicated, relatively compact, and the film loads easily. The picture quality is better than what I remember from my childhood in the 70s, but not much. (Again, I'm not complaining. I expected this. The purpose for stating that is so others will not expect too much.)

If you're buying it for a specific purpose and not to be your primary camera, then you'll be 110% satisfied. I am.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Polaroids
I've used Polaroid cameras off and on since the Swinger came out in the 60's. I've had the SX-70 and the One Step. The Polaroid One is by far the easiest to use. The LCD film counter on the back is easy to read and the pictures are clear. The camera takes type 660 film or even takes type 779 professional film for better colors and better clarity. The camera is solidly built, fits into your hand comfortably and is easy to carry thanks to a two position hand strap. Polaroids have always been fun cameras. This one is no exception.

2-0 out of 5 stars not so great
If you're in the perfect lighting this camera takes good pictures but most of the pictures I've taken are very blury or the colors are way off.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Choice!
Polaroids generally are a little awkward to handle, but this one is a very good basic model with very easy-to-use and fundamental features (red-eye reduction, timer). It handles light in a straightforward fashion, but can also be sensitive and manipulated for nice effect. Also, I dropped it on the floor and it kept working - you can't ask for more than that.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Camera! Worth Every Penny!!!!
Well when I first bought this camera I was a bit skeptical. I've never owned any thing similar to this. I must admit, the commercial caught my attention so much I just HAD TO GET IT!!! And I'm happy I did. I bit heavy, but I guess all of the similar ones are too. Very easy to use, although I didn't know it came without film which I purchased seperately at the store. It uses polaroid 600 film. The film is very easy to load. The picture quality is amazing. Extremely clear and good pictures. The cool thing about this camera is that it automatically turns on with flash, which you can take it off, it has a self timer so you can also be in any picture. It has a handy carrying strap. Although, if the camera case is available, I think you're better off. Hope this helps! Take care. ...

The best way to ensure a perfectly developed image is to simply lay the picture on a flat surface immediately after it exits the camera. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best of the 17 widescreens out there! SWEET!
I have been shopping around for a 17 LCD/TV and could not make up my mind. I searched all over the Internet and thought I had a good idea of what I wanted. I saw the Polaroid 1700 a few months ago but was not impressed with the specs on it just by reading it. That all changed when I saw it in person! I compared it in person with about 30 other LCD TV's and all I could say was "SWEET"! The picture just blew me away! I was in love with it! I compared it to the others and there was no comparison! Since I loved it so much I looked at the 20 but it was not a widescreen and only had 4:3 aspect ratio. I never liked widescreen TV's (being all programs are broadcasted in 4:3) but this TV gives you the opportunity to change the aspect ratio, I never read that in any of the online reviews. It is a perfect bedroom TV to watch your widescreen DVD's and also switch it over to the TV tuner and watch the 4:3 ratio. It does not stretch it out and distort it like a lot of other TV's. For the features and the AWESOME picture, it is well worth the money. Compare it and you will not find a better one in this class. I would say the only downfall is the bulky size and weight. But it still looks SWEET! I recommend this product highly! Mind you I am a VERY picky electronics person. I hope this helps. ... Read more

17. Polaroid PLA-4260 42" Flat Panel Widescreen HD-Ready Plasma TV

Asin: B0007MGCK8
Catlog: CE
Manufacturer: Polaroid
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France | Japan

Amazon.com Product Description

At less than 4 inches deep, Polaroid's PLA-4260 gas-plasma television fits easily just about anywhere--office, living room, home theater, or bedroom. The 42-inch widescreen TV offers 1,024 x 768 native pixel resolution, a 3,000:1 contrast ratio, and 1,000 cd/m2 (maximum) brightness produce clear, bright images from a DTV set-top box receiver's high-definition television (HDTV) programs, DVD movies, or digital photos from your computer. And, the set's convenient NTSC tuner brings standard-definition broadcast TV into your home or boardroom.

With a plasma screen you get vivid colors like you've never seen before, extremely wide viewing angles (160 degrees in this case, wider than viewing angles of many LCD screens), and easy placement due to a plasma monitor's slim profile--the PLA-4260 is a mere 3.6 inches deep, perfect for desk or wall mounting (desktop stand included). Brightness tends to be extremely uniform across plasma screens, which are also impervious to the picture distortion and negative color balances that afflict CRT monitors when placed near lighting or sound systems. You do, however, need to be wary of image burn-in (wherein long-held stationary images leave a permanent impression in the screen)--especially critical to keep in mind if you'll be using the set for PC work and viewing.

The set's 3D Y/C digital comb filter enhances NTSC (standard-definition) sources by removing blurred edges between colors and reducing dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a character's striped T-shirt). Picture-in-picture capabilities, with image swap, make it easy to view images from 2 inputs simultaneously.

To save space and minimize cable clutter, all audio/video inputs and outputs are connected via a separate, stand-alone media center/set-top box, which links to the TV with 2 proprietary multi-pin cables (supplied).

The media center's 11 inputs include 3 each composite-video and S-video, 1 analog RGB (15-pin D-Sub, for your PC), a direct-digital DVI-HDTV with HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection), 2 component-video inputs (1 HD, 1 SD), an RF coaxial/antenna input, and an RS-232C control interface (RS-232 cable not included).

If you don't have a surround receiver or 6-channel speaker setup for use with your DTV receiver or DVD player, you can still make every movie night the ultimate movie experience: onboard SRS TruSurround XT simulates surround sound through the set's 2 speakers. A dedicated monaural RCA subwoofer output facilitates hookup with a stand-alone powered speaker designed to extend the low-frequency response of your listening system.

What's in the Box
TV, detachable stand, remote control, remote batteries, AV switching box with hookup cables (PLA-4260STB), 2 AC power cords, a user's manual, and warranty information. ... Read more
