Amazon.com Product Description

The AccuSync 95F is a flat screen CRT (cathode ray tube) that combines high quality images with a very reasonable price tag. This 19-inch monitor (18 inches viewable) combines a 1,600 x 1,200 maximum resolution with a flicker-free 76 Hz refresh rate and a low 0.25mm dot pitch for accurate, clear images, ideal for a wide range of home and small business applications.

A multilayered, dark-tint, antistatic screen coating helps to reduce glare and to deliver a sharp, crisp picture, while the refresh rate increases as the resolution decreases--down to 160 Hz for 640 x 480 resolution, further helping to reduce glare and the resulting eyestrain. Horizontal frequency ranges from 31 to 96 kHz, while an invar shadow mask resists expansion, even on high brightness settings.

The easily adjustable menu-driven controls include brightness, contrast, horizontal/vertical position, moiré, degauss, and more. The Intelligent Power Manager (IPM) complies with both EPA Energy Star and NUTEK standards. Weighing about 55 pounds with a footprint of slightly under 25 inches by 23 inches, the 95F connects to either Mac or PC via a Captive 15-pin mini D-sub input cable and comes backed with a generous three-year parts and labor warranty. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars great monitor, great price
apparently, manufacturing quality is spotty on this product, because my 95F is great. My 95F has sharp graphics & text, and no edge distortions; I did need to use the on-screen controls to adjust things, but that seems to be a normal thing these days. I normally run it at 1280x1024 @85hz, and 9pt text is clear and easy to read. It worked fine with my Powerbook G3 and NT/98 boxes

2-0 out of 5 stars Never Again!
I have had this monitor for over 2 years. It's reliable, but the display quality leaves a lot to be desired. There's terrible moire that's hard to get rid of and the edges and corners never look right. I have played with all the buttons until my finger tips started to hurt. I went with NEC's reputation and bought the monitor sight unseen, a decision I have regretted ever since.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't get this monitor if you value your eyesight
About a week ago I had my 17" Dell monitor "upgraded" with the AS 95F. After one day of use my eyes were burning. The monitor has an annoying flicker in the lower right corner, regardless of the refresh rate used. There are also light horizontal bands present in the white backgrounds. My friend in the next cube has the same problems with his AS 95F as well. I would rather have my 17" Dell monitor than the AS 95F.
Since visual quality is the most important feature in a monitor IMHO I gave this model a rating of 1. I would not buy it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not that good
Exactly the same problem as the other guy after running games and stuff, it will shut off. it [makes me mad], if you want this monitor for games might as well return it right now, ive looked at other places with reviews and they all have the same problem, its a bad product. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Great Idea, Not So Great Product
First off I think that the performance of all of these FM Transmitter type of devices are very dependent on the type of vehicle you own. So your results may differ from mine.

I've tried the Sound Feeder, iTrip and recently the Transpod in my 2002 Altima.

What I like about the Transpod:
Nice mounting system. It makes the iPod very easy to see. I thought the iPod was pretty secure and didn't bounce around too much and I live in pot hole ridden upstate NY. It charges the iPod. It's simple to change stations and has a strong FM signal.

What I didn't like:
Low Volume, very poor stereo separation (if any), poor dynamic range, iPod pre-amp is by passed, significantly loud whining noise even when iPod wasn't plugged in, can't use iPod with DLO Jam Jacket or iSkin, expensive.

The noise was too much for me no matter where I positioned the unit so I returned it.

The iTrip has much better sound quality, lower FM noise and costs a ton less. The biggest problem I have with the iTrip is that it is somewhat of a process to change stations.

The Transpod was something I wanted to like but just couldn't do it. If they improved the FM transmitter it would be a great device.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing at best
Great idea, not so great execution. If you've read the other reviews here you should already have a pretty good idea what's wrong with this product. But I need to add one more serious flaw: it's not stereo. Sure, it lights the little "stereo" light in your car's FM radio- but it sounds like all left channel / right channel separation is lost in the audio- even with a good, strong, clear signal on an unused FM frequency. Now of course I can't be certain whether this is a design omission, or if my unit is simply defective. To me , it doesn't matter; it's unacceptable in either case.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money...
At best, it works.
This not a QUALITY sound solution. If you can plug into auxilary jacks on your car radio, that's the better way to go. There is a hiss or high pitched hum that comes through. It seems to be from the iPod hardrive spinning, but I am not sure.

The adjustable "arm" that plugs directly into the car lighter is not a very stationary setup (wobbly). If you try to snug the thumb screw joints to stop it from moving, you can crack the plastic joint. I did just that. I am still trying to fix it. What appeared to be an easy fix with crazy glue is turning into a major repair. The whole joint came apart. I may have to use some of the optional pieces included.

Of course, DLO does not appear to have a website.

1-0 out of 5 stars I can't believe I spent $100 on this.
I love my iPod so much that I was willing to shell out a C-note to give me the ultimate accessory for the car. What a mistake. Transpod's FM transmitter is bassy and has lots of hiss, no matter what frequency you choose. The holder arm has joints that slip and get disconnected, causing it to lose power and making the whole thing quit working. Transpod is a great idea, but severely flawed in execution. It's also overpriced... but again, had it worked properly, I would have gladly paid even more. My recommendation: get a $7.99 cassette tape adaptor and plug it straight into your iPod. It sounds and works far better. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Great View, but bad support
I was headed to Fry's to buy a different monitor when I saw this one and loved it. Great color, brilliant picture and a fast response time and not much more money. Unfortunately Fry's was out of stock, in fact all of CA Frys were out of stock. So I go online and order it and it arrives about 5 days later. Plug it in and thats when I realize its not as great as I saw in the store. First I upgrade new drivers for my top of the line video card and the monitor itself. But I soon come to realize it takes over 30 min sometimes over an hour for the monitor to finish warming up. During that time it flickers, shakes, and has lines running through it.I also have a bright dead pixel in the middle of the monitor. NEC won't exchange it unless it has 4-5 dead pixels so it looks like I am stuck with a monitor that takes an hour to warm-up and has a dead pixel, pretty sad for almost $600

5-0 out of 5 stars Best LCD on the market
I had the chance to get this monitor free and it has really amazed me. I never considered NEC a viable competitor in the LCD market but it surpasses many of the big names in quality (Sony, Samsung, ViewSonic). I compared the displays with many other 19" LCD's and the NEC's was by far brighter, cleaner, and the most vibrant. I fell in love with this monitor immediately after seeing it. I actually did get it free, if interested go here:

http://tinyurl.com/6bfwv

I used this site to get the monitor free, the process was painless and extremely easy for what I got! Just sign up and complete the Match.com 7-day free trial offer (free and easy). For proof, visit the "Member Gallery" seen at the top left of the page. Don't forget to click the "I have completed this offer" button after doing the offer!

5-0 out of 5 stars This LCD flat panel image has OUTSTANDING image quality!
I saw this LCD flat panel display at a local Fry's Electronics store and was blown away by the picture quality compared to other displays. The overall image is amazingly sharp, great contrast with really black blacks, details are retained in photos and flesh tones exceptional for digital image work. The only concern I had was the amount of glare on the screen in the store with the massive overhead lights. In my home environment where I can control the lighting, I don't have a problem with glare, but could see some folks objecting to this. For me however, the superb quality is absolutely worth the trade-off.I also really liked the thin frame, built in cable management, 4 port USB 2.0 hub, and height-adjustable support column.I had an older NEC 21" CRT that I thought I was going to miss when I converted to this 19" LCD, but the actual visible screen size is almost the same, and image quality so good that I plan on watching a whole lot more DVDs on my computer than I used to!All around an awesome display! ... 1-0 out of 5 stars No Battery Replacement and No Warranty without Invoice
Just under 1 year of use the Belkin 1200 Universal UPS replace battery alarm went off.Contacted technical support, they confirmed that the battery needed replaced, but in order for them to provide warranty I had to produce an Invoice that was less than 1 year old since the battery warranty is only 1 year. I cant find the receipt so I am SOL.

And Belkin does not provide a replacement battery, so I am SOL there too.

And if you find a 3rd party replacement battery, you have to completely dis-assemble the UPS to get the battery out... very poor design in this day in age when its typical for the cheapiest of UPS to have pop/slide out batteries.

Its clear to me that this hs been designed to be a throw away UPS... which isnt fair in my book b/c ayone buying at the 1000+ level will want battery replacement.

And I too can hear the humm noise this thing makes that other users reported... its very noisy even in my server room.

My conclusion, complete waste of money... and since Belkin screwed me I wont be buying Belkin anymore regardless of the better price. But hey, you get what you pay for.. you want to gamble go ahead. Im going to get the APC Back-UPS RS BR1500.

3-0 out of 5 stars At first I was very pleased, now I'm somewhat jaded
I received the Belkin F6C120-UNV as a gift in December, 2002. It worked like a charm for 1-1/2 years. I occasionally put it through a deep-cycle test just to make sure things were in good shape and my system and monitor and peripherals would run for about 20 minutes before running out of juice.. ..plenty of time to clean up, save, print a few things, and shut down the system.

I even had my wireless access point and cable modem connected, so I would stay online for a while without power in the house (through my desktop or wireless notebook).

The only annoying behavior was that the unit will beep when you are running on battery power and there's no way to configure it not to beep. That means if you lose power during the middle of the night for a more than a couple seconds, it will beep until you tell it to stop beeping. Very annoying. Luckily we only lose power about 3-4 times a year.

The bad news; we lost power last week and the unit shut off in about 5-6 seconds! After recharging overnight, it will no longer hold a reasonable load (of say 25-30%) for more than 6-7 seconds, definitely not enough time to shut down cleanly. None of the trouble indicators were lit and the battery replacement indicator was not on. However, it was clear that the batteries were unable to handle the load any more. I learned the hard way (according to Belkin) that the batteries in this unit cannot be replaced! Also, I searched for after-market batteries and none of the popular sites list this model.

Lesson learned: many of the UPS systems out there have batteries that are not (or not easily) replaceable!

To Belkin's credit, they're replacing the entire unit free of charge (since it's only half way through it's 3 year warrantee period) even though it was a gift.

btw, in reference to the other reviewer (who has posted their review on lots of sites) who claim that the 3-second power on/off button is inconvient.. ..somebody doesn't understand the purpose of a UPS system. You're not supposed to turn the UPS off, why would anybody use the UPS to turn their PC on and off? Also, the only "hum" I ever hear is when the voltate drops too low and the AVR kicks in (which is a lifesaver if your power drops when the house A/C compressor kicks in).

5-0 out of 5 stars Great price and performance for a 1200VA UPS
I'm not sure why one of the other reviewers would use a UPS to power on/off their desktop. The purpose of a UPS is the regulate electric line input and to provide power during either a power glitch/loss or total blackout.

This UPS does the job perfectly.I run a couple of home linux servers used for httpd, smtp, pop3, imap, mysqld, online game server, etc.In other words, they're always on.My house constantly gets hit by "power glitches"; the power blinks off then rigth back on at least once a week.Of course, this is bad news for any electronic equipment, especially computers.I don't mind resetting my clocks all over the house when this happens, but it's unacceptable for computers (not that I have to reset their clocks :-)).

I had a small APC 350VA before, that was absolutely horrible. It would help for the power glitches that I have, but when the power went out for more than 1 minute, it couldn't even power up one desktop cpu and a 17" CRT.It got to the point where my wife would call it the chinese torture device (no hard feelings), because it was constantly beeping when the power went off and back on.It would not reset itself, and I'd have to turn it off and back on to get it to stop. That really defeats the purpose of the UPS, as I'd have to shutdown the computer connected to it to do this.

Back to the Belkin.I currenlty have 3 desktop computers connected, a 19" lcd and 100 MB switch.I keep the USB connected to my windows desktop. The Bulldog software is very slick. It can show you current input/output stats, as well as a log of activity.Very nice function.I've had a few glitches knock the power off and on, with not one problem in the past month.

Fortunatley, I have not had to test the UPS for it's battery power in minutes.Right now, it will shutdown my windows PC when it detects and outage.I'd like to be able to write a small script that can shutdown my linux machines as well.

Conclusion:
You can't beat this UPS for the money.APCs are way overpriced, and the Belkin stacks up to their performance hands down.I work for a nation wide computer company that uses APCs, and I'd much rather spend my money on the Belkin.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent UPS protection at a unbeatable price
I have two of these in my office and I love them. The only "real" criticism the other review had was he had to hold the power button down for 3 seconds to power the unit off. How lazy can someone be that 3 seconds is too long to press a button? The point was irrelevant considering you should never power your UPS off to make sure the batteries always have adequate power - and once they batteries are 1/2 to 1/25 low I would recommend replacing them.
I've used APC UPS's and after trying the Belkins I will never waste my money on an APC again. The Belkins provide great line conditioning with their AVR and the included software is more than enough to handle blackout situations. The operation of the Belkin units is completely silent unless your power drops below 105 volts, then they beep and produce a slight buzzing noise as they condition the line (as with every UPS that actually works). If you have a power outlet that requires excessive conditioning, I'd either move your equipment to a more stable outlet or call out an electrician to increase the amps on your outlet.
If you want to protect your system from power surges, brown outs, and black outs - I couldn't recommend the F6C120-UNV enough. If you need a UPS with remote management software for an enterprise situation, then you might be better off with an APC unit - otherwise, don't throw your money away, get the Belkin!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Good UPS If You Don't Mind the Small Inconveniences.
I have owned the F6C120-UNV for about 6 months.I also own a PK Electronics 1000VA and 500VA.The 500VA is now connected to my TV and VCR.PK Electronics has since gone out of business. While the PK's only have a serial port and probably lower quality software, I prefer them over the Belkin.I have not installed any software which comes with my UPS's.My PK 1000VA will switch on immediately when I need it and it makes no noise at all.

Unfortunately, this is not true with my 1200VA Belkin.I always turn my PC off at night.I never leave it on when I go to bed or leave the house.Whenever I need to turn my PC on or off, I must press the tiny bubble switch for 3 seconds which is a real bother.Every single day, sometimes twice a day, I must press and hold the tiny bubble switch for 3 seconds. When I want to use my PC, I want to switch it on immediately.I don't want to stand there with my finger on the switch.I have a fairly convenient layout for my computer room, with the UPS's on a shelf one level above the floor. Can you imagine how other owners must crawl under their desks to turn these things on?Unlike the PK's, the Belkin's switch is not located on the top front of the unit. The bubble switch can be difficult to find in a darkened area, where both UPS's are indeed located.Sometimes I must use my flashlight to locate the switch.

Unlike both my PK's, the Belkin emits a powerful low frequency hum. This hum can be heard when the PC is off.If you have a smaller computer room where you also do your studying, watch TV or movies, you will hear this hum. When I am at my desk, the Belkin is less than 3½ feet from me.Even when I am 4½ feet away watching TV or a movie, I can clearly hear this hum.

Replacing the two batteries for the Belkin F6C120-UNV is not easy. You must take the entire unit apart to remove them.In fact, I could find no information on battery removal in the instructions or Belkin's website. Most other UPS makers will give you instructions on battery replacement.Belkin seems to purposely make it a mystery.

As I mentioned before, I have never installed UPS software.I have read online reviews regarding Belkin's "Bulldog Plus" software.I am sure it is very good. However, I simply don't need it.For completeness, I will mention the other features the Belkin has.The Belkin has 2 RJ11/RJ45 and 2 surge-only outlets, 4 battery backup/surge outlets, and both USB and serial interface ports for use with their software. The Belkin has a 3 year parts and labor warranty. The F6C120-UNV includes a $500K connected equipment warranty and a "data recovery warranty", although I am skeptical they have ever paid out $500K.Finally, as with most other UPS's, the Belkin includes automatic voltage regulation (AVR).Essentially, AVR smooths out the voltage from your house to your PC, maintaining an average of 110-120 volts while eliminating spikes above 120 volts and dropouts below 110 volts.Belkin claims the F6C120-UNV can provide "up to 100 minutes backup time."I'm sure this is true, if you merely connected a 10 watt bulb to it.A more realistic figure would be 10 to 20 minutes for a standard tower system.

If you need an inexpensive, feature-rich UPS, the Belkin F6C120-UNV will suit your needs. However, if you do a lot of studying and are particular about your environment, don't buy this UPS.Moreover, if you want an "instant on" system, this UPS is not for you.I doubt I will buy any more Belkin UPS's.My next UPS will be the APC XS 1500VA.The APC has all the features the Belkin has and more. The APC is an "instant on" UPS and the button is conveniently located at the top front. The APC battery is easy to replace, simply by sliding the bottom front down, unplugging the battery, and pulling it out.The APC is a more expensive UPS than the Belkin so you might want to wait until APC has another rebate program for it.I believe the APC also uses a more expensive battery.

Based on features and price, I give the Belkin F6C120-UNV a marginal pass. However, my next UPS will be an APC XS 1500VA.

Sincerely,
Daniel L. Martinez ... Read more
