4-0 out of 5 stars A Jukebox "C" and this, beats the base pkg for a few $$ more
Ironically, my Jukebox "C" package did include the carry case it wasn't supposed to, so now I have three cases for my Jukebox. (I'll use the spare for an old portable CD whose case has been lost.) But that basic case has room for nothing but the Jukebox, and with no holes for access to headphone or power jacks, it's really nothing but a protection. (Not that you can't *add* holes...)

The bigger case is much nicer. Room for all your cables and the necessary power supply, an extra set of batteries, and a bit more, but without making the resulting package large or unweildy. This is ideal for taking your Jukebox with you when you travel, or just go to the beach. Both cases are well-made and won't fall apart easily. The attention to quality is appreciated.

The headphones that are included are those behind-the-head things -- is there anyone who actually *likes* them? Someone must, or why would they make them? Definitely the weak point of the set. But you need the extra batteries. I already had a tape adapter from my Rio, so I haven't even used this one.

The upshot is, I can't see why anyone would buy the base Jukebox package. The "C" package plus this add-on kit is only a few dollars more, and the big carry-case alone is easily worth the difference.

5-0 out of 5 stars Accessory Kit Review
The kit, which includes a cassette adapter, is a great product to own, primarily because of the cassette adapter. I purchased the kit to use the adapter in my car. The quality of the sound reproduced by the Nomad and transmitted via the adapter is superb. I experienced a high level of static initially, only able to correct the problem after adjusting the EAX settings. My only complaint about this product is that it does not include a Cigarette/Automobile adapter (Creative Labs is the only merchant that sells this product, as far as I know...). I recommend purchasing this product if you desire to have access to your music while driving. The other products included in the kit work fine.

1-0 out of 5 stars No power adapter
This is called a car kit, yet it arrived with no adapter for power in the car??? If you have bought the Nomad with earphones and carrying case, the only thing you get in this kit that you need is the adapter to play the Nomad through your car speakers. The price seems a little high for that. I am returning the accessory kit and looking elsewhere to get what I really need. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Not worth it.
Another customer, Brian O'Sullivan, wrote a review here entitled "home kit doesn't deliver", which you should read.

I would just add a couple things:

The remote control that comes with the home kit has very few functions. Play/pause/stop, forward to next track on current playlist or album, reverse to previous track on current playlist or album. It has a volume control, but that only works with the headphone jack, not the line out jack. You CANNOT use this remote to change artists, playlists, or albums.

The docking station is really not much of a convenience, especially since it doesn't come with the power adapter or cord to plug into your home stereo.

What is the docking station good for? You plug 3 things into the docking station: your unit's power cord, the line out to your home stereo, and the usb or firewire cable to your computer. Then, you can simply insert the player into the docking station (which takes about 5 seconds) instead of plugging these three cords directly into the player (which takes about 10 seconds). A savings of 5 seconds! Woo-hoo!

But if you own the leather slip case that was made for the jukebox 3, you will have to take it off to insert your player into the docking station, and put it back on when you take your player to the gym or wherever.

It would have been nice if we had the option to buy the remote separate from the docking station---you don't need the docking station to use the remote (and vice versa). But then, I'd only pay about 10 bucks for such a limited remote.

5-0 out of 5 stars Completes The Package!
The Infrared Remote works great with the Jukebox by itself or when it's in the Home Docking Station. This makes the jukebox a super addition to the home stereo.

It's handy with the computer to leave the firewire or USB cables connected and just pop the Jukebox in and out.

Having the power supply plugged into the Docking Station all the time makes it easy to keep the batteries charged too!

My CD's are going in storage.

2-0 out of 5 stars Home Kit Doesn't deliver
I bought 3 of these kits and was extremely disappointed. What I wanted to do, and what, in my opinion, the description of the kit led me to believe I could do, was hook up one at home, one at my ski cabin and one on my boat so I could simply unclip the Nomad 3 and easily use it at any of those 3 locations. The problem is that the unit doesn't come with either an ac adapter or a stereo mini to RCA "Y" cable. Thus if you want to use the Nomad in mulitple locations you have to trundle back to the store and purchase an ac adapter and a stereo mini to RCA "Y" cable. Since the Nomad operates on 5 volts DC, it is virtually impossible to find a dedicated plug and you have to buy a multiple voltage converter. These are expensive. The cheapest I could find was $25 (US) and I checked 4 stores. The stereo mini to RCA "Y" cable was less money, but still $5 (US). So all in all I spent $59.99 on each unit but had to spend an additional $30 (US) just to be able to connect it! I would seem that Creative Labs could have included an AC adaptor and a mini cable for a lot less than it cost me to search for them on the open market. I would also seem that they could have clearly disclosed to the potential purchaser the fact that this unit did not include these items.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great -- when using Speakers!
Having a Jukebox 3 has easily changed my life for the better. I can now take my entire music collection and all of my custom playlists with me everywhere I go -- and I love it!

I soon realized, however, that I wasn't content to just listen to my songs performed through headphones. I wanted to hear my music -- played through speakers -- filling every room of my house. The melodies produced by my Jukebox 3 (played out loud) sounded great -- but I found that I desired more control. This Creative Jukebox 3 Home Kit, luckily, is just what the doctor ordered!

The Home Kit comes with a docking station base and a credit card-sized remote control. The latter will adjust the volume, skip or replay songs, and enable or disable the EAX equalizer settings -- conveniently from across the room. Surprisingly, this was accomplished -- even if the base unit was left unplugged from the AC adapter -- making it even easier to use the Home Kit anywhere in my house (where I have speakers).

When plugged into the wall outlet, the base unit will act as a charger. And when connected to my home PC, it will serve as a convenient docking station making music downloads even easier (since it eliminates the need to search for one's seemingly always-misplaced USB or Firewire sync cords).

I can now recline on my favorite sofa, enjoy my custom playlists -- and adjust the volume or skip songs on the Jukebox 3 -- without ever having to get up out of my chair. What could be nicer than that?

This Jukebox 3 Home Kit makes music played through speakers much more enjoyable. I highly recommend it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Docking Cradle Rules
I bought this docking cradle and a Nomad II at the same time. The cradle makes the Nomad easier to use, because at the end of the day you just drop it in the cradle and it charges, and it's ready again the next morning. It also comes with it's own USB cable, so that you can leave the one the Nomad comes with at a friend's or work for trading files there. The other good thing is that when you transfer files to the Nomad through the cradle, it doesn't use batteries like using a straight USB cable to the Nomad does. My only complaint is the fact it has to plug into the wall for power, as well as USB, but they can't help that (since it has to charge a battery).

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Addition for Owners of Nomad II
Having purchased the Nomad II without even knowing that it had the capability to dock, I was very excited to find this product. It's rather simple, the docking station takes the place of the Nomad II's USB cable and a rechargable AA battery takes the place of the regular battery. Then, you just peel the rubber off the bottom of the Nomad II and you are ready to go. The transfer software pops up as soon as you drop the Nomad in it's cradle. I have been very happy with it, with the Nomad II it provides a good product. It is similar priced to the Nomad II mg (including docking station), so the determining factor is the look and memory card set up. The Nomad class of MP3 players is the best you can get, you can't go wrong.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the Nomad
I had bought the Japanese version in Japan a few months before the American version of the docking station was released.

It worked perfectly on the USB port, performing the synchronizations I needed and charging the battery in the Nomad.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sold out?
The Nomad II docking station is sold out?
Somebody can tell me an online shop where I can buy it?
Thanks in advance.

Bruno.

4-0 out of 5 stars A great addition to a great MP3 player
This is one of the reasons I bought a Nomad IIc. I always like slipping a piece of electronics into a dock rather than finding a cable and plugging it in.

After you remove the "bumper" on the bottom of the player, it slips into the dock, latching thanks to an indentation on the player's back. If you're running SoundJam (the MP3 converter included with your Nomad), a window will come up to show you the memory of your player-- external too if you have a card.

Not only can you transfer music at USB speed, but you can also recharge the battery at the same time. (The dock comes with a rechargeable AA cell.) This, though, was one of my complaints about the system:
* Sometimes you have to "jiggle" the Nomad in the dock to get the charging light to register that it's charging the battery.
* This may just be the case with my unit, but sometimes the power connection inside the Nomad will fail. I think that this is just a bad seating of the battery, as it can often be cured by opening the compartment, fussing with the cell, and cursing. (I think the cursing is optional.)

That's all that kept this equipment from getting a five-star rating with me. I think it's a perfect addition to an MP3 player that stands out from the crowd, and I wouldn't want to be without it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars works good using headphone jack
Using the standard cassette player on a 1996 Cavalier...

Plugging the cassette into the LINE OUT jack of the Jukebox causes very DISTORTED audio.
Plugging the cassette into the HEADPHONE jack of the Jukebox produces GOOD audio.

3-0 out of 5 stars Definately Enjoying this...
I was almost turned away when I read the first review, but after reading the second one, I decided to go for it. When I first got it, I admit it did sound fuzzy, distorted. But I changed the EAX setting on my Jukebox from the Custom EQ setting I like for my headphones, to the Environment/Auditorium setting and it sounds great. I have over 2000 songs in my Nomad Jukebox 3, and it's like having my entire CD catalog in my car. I guess it helps to play with these things before you go running for the Return slip.

1-0 out of 5 stars Oh dear
Very disappointed with this - very fuzzy, distorted sound. I'll do some more research and check if its just not compatible with my car stereo, but as it stands, it'll never be going back into my car

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for any digital music source!
With my Jukebox 3, I loved having my own custom playlists -- and my entire music collection -- available to me everywhere I went. It was consequently just a matter of time -- before I wanted to play them all in my car.

This Jukebox 3 Car Kit was the perfect solution. It consists of a faux cassette tape -- which goes into my car's stereo -- that connects via a thin wire and a headphone jack to my Jukebox's 3 audio output.

The aural quality is excellent. The music is clear and expansive, and far superior to the sound I get from my car's FM radio. The EAX (music equalizer) settings on the Jukebox 3 are also perfect for tailoring the music quality (highs, lows, stereo separation, reverb, etc.) precisely to my driving conditions -- or my car's interior acoustics.

And, best of all -- there's no CD's to change, no commercials to endure -- and no reason to listen to songs I really don't want to hear (which is key)!

The cassette adapter will also play any digital music source that outputs through a standard headphone plug, such as other MP3's, CD players, or laptop computers. And the Car Kit comes with a 12-volt cigarette lighter adapter (for the Jukebox 3) -- handy in case you ever begin to run out of juice.

Someday, an (interchangeable) hard drive-based digital music system will be built into every car. For now, the Jukebox 3 Car Kit allows me to enjoy the future's music system -- today! I highly recommend it. ... Read more
