1-0 out of 5 stars Poor 2-way-radio choice
I bought a pair after losing an older T5200 (also from Motorola) which is not manufactured anymore. I figured that the new & more expensive model (which also has 1 Watt compared to 1/2 watt of the T5200) should work as good or better.

I was very disapoointed. Very poor sound quality. Audio is not clear and in many cases has breaks. I still have one T5200 left (I lost 1 out of 2) - eveyone in my family wants to use the older unit as the new T5820 does not perform. Plus, I paid for the T5200 half of what I paid for thr T5820...

I recommend not to buy this product. Go for the new cheaper & better T5720 (1 Watt as well, compact, great sound quality. The only limitation - no vibration alert. See my review on it).

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor speaker performance
The quality of voice coming from the speakers is very poor. You can hardly understand the person talking to you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Solution for 'muffled' reception
To those who have problems with getting clear reception:

If you normally set you volume control to max, try turning it down a little (or more) if your reception sounds muffled.

I've tried this several times within city transmission and it helps alot with removing the muffled reception some users have reported (especially those who have purchased sets with rechargeable nicad batteries).

I think the volume control and speaker interface has not been designed well for max vol transmissions. (Note that new T5620, T5720 and T5920 have sound enhacing improvements for clearer voice transmissions, check motorola site for specs and launch dates)

Reason I like this set:
The 1.0 watt transmitter helps increase talking distance in built up areas as opposed to 0.5 watt frs radio sets. Price was a good deal with rebate. ...

Setting the Interference Elimator Code to '0' might aid in clearer reception. Use this if your area is not conjested with other 2 way radio users.

A possible way of increasing distance might be to use channel 15 (GMRS freq 462.550Mhz). Normally lower bandwidths tend to travel further.

1-0 out of 5 stars Big Mistake
Rugged outdoor use ?? I don't think so. The first day, both belt clips broke! Replacement isn't an option because the...plastic that is poorly designed will break again. Five mile range ? The radios that I purchased won't transmit over a 1.5 mile range. Finally, be prepared to send lots of money to the FCC. I would not recommend purchasing this item. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars 2 miles ... NOT!
I own two of these. We live in a fairly flat area. They are out of range in about a mile, contrary to the claims of a 2 mile range. Otherwise, very nice & sturdy piece of equipment.

3-0 out of 5 stars Buying the name.
Some companies are very, very, proud of the name. Sometimes you can buy two products of a different brand which would work just as good as this one, and still have enough money left to buy something else.

5-0 out of 5 stars Its a great radio, but theres no FM on this one!
I think somebody made a boo-boo. The T6310 sports the FM radio, not the T6320. Within the last year I have owned every Motorola FRS radio out there, and I have had the T6310 for six months (at the time I wrote this) and wear it everywhere I go. I bought it for use at work and just cant seem to leave home without it (sound familiar). The radio has been dropped, smacked around and just plain abused, but it still works great. Some people dont care for the swivel clip, but I think it was a great idea. If you ever sat down with anything hooked to you belt and felt that auwful jam in your side, you will appreciate the swivel clip. But anyway, any of the T6300's are great. Just remember if you want listen to some jams while your yacking away, the T6310 is what your gonna need..........:)

The RAZR V3's design takes the standard clamshell form factor to the next level with an impressive, anodized aluminum construction. A large 176 x 220 color display with 262,000 colors dominates the inside of the top cover. The outside cover of the handset sports a supplementary 96 x 80 full-color display that can display pictures, time, call information, battery and signal strength, and more. The VGA camera lens is housed above this display. Up/down buttons are placed on the left side for volume control while a voice button on the right side of the unit allows you to enter voice memos and create voice dialing profiles. Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's backlit control pad, which is precision cut from a single sheet of nickel-plated copper alloy. A charging port and USB data cable port is placed on the bottom of the phone.

Calling Features
The RAZR V3's internal phone book can hold up to 1000 contacts while the phone's picture ID system allows you to assign pictures to your most common callers. It also supports polyphonic ringtones as well as MP3 ringers, allowing you to use portions of your favorite songs to alert you to incoming calls. A number of ringtones come preloaded on the phone. There's even an included application, MotoMixer, that lets you mix your own ringtones. For times when you want to be discreet, there's a vibrating alert. A built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear while voice activated dialing makes calling your friends, family and associates as easy as saying their names.

Because the RAZR V3 is Bluetooth enabled, wireless headsets can be configured with the phone for total handsfree operation.

Messaging, Internet and Tools
The RAZR V3 is a messaging and wireless Internet powerhouse. Support is built in for sending and receiving pictures, text, graphics, sound and video via messages. When used in combination with the phone's built-in still and video camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging fun. Instant messaging is also supported via AOL Instant Messenger and the phone ships with a built-in email client with support for POP3, IMAP4 and SMTP protocols.

Thin is in: The RAZR's keypad is precision cut from a single sheet of nickel-plated copper alloy.
iTap text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile email and text messaging users. And with Internet service and a data plan (not included) and its Bluetooth or USB data capability, the phone can be used as a wireless modem for laptops and PDAs.

A number of handy software tools are bundled with the RAZR V3 including a voice memo recorder, a calculator with currency converter, a calendar and an alarm clock. Use the phone's Bluetooth capability to set up a wireless link with a Bluetooth accessory or connect to a computer or hand-held device to exchange and synchronize data. The phone also supports the SyncML PC synchronization standard, can be used with Motorola's Mobile Phone Tools PC application to manage and synchronize contacts, calendar and other data with your PC.

Imaging and Entertainment
With 5 MB of internal memory storage, the RAZR V3 shines in the entertainment department. The phone's VGA camera features a 4x zoom, image quality options, and an auto-timer so you can be in your pictures, too. Capture stills and then send them to your friends via MMS messaging or email, or to your PC via USB or Bluetooth. The phone is capable of MPEG4 video playback when you receive a video message, or if you upload video to the phone via USB or Bluetooth. The RAZR V3 also supports custom graphics for wallpapers so you can dress up the phone to suit your fancy.

Vital Statistics
The Motorola RAZR V3 weighs 3.35 ounces and measures 3.86 x 2.09 x .54 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 6.67 hours of digital talk time, and up to 250 hours of digital standby time. 1-0 out of 5 stars Decent phone, horrible dealer
The reception isn't bad. The speaker is okay also.. But the battery dies way too fast, and what good is a phone if the battery is dead? The color screen is good quality though, that is, if you need to see your menu's in thousands of colors.
Tiger Direct on the other hand is a horrible vendor. [...]

1-0 out of 5 stars Disgruntled Nokia customer
I am a fan of Nokia, but opted for Motorola and the sleek new design of the Razr V3. Looks great.
But that is about it! I have been using Nokia for many years now, and have never seen such a short battery life on a phone before. The menu seems easier than previous Motorola phones I have seen before. But then the phone goes into a system freeze and you have to "reboot". I would not recommend this phone for any Nokia user (YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED!), and approach with caution if you are thinking of getting this phone. I think I could have gotton the top range NOKIA for what I paid for this motorola.

1-0 out of 5 stars The rest of the story.
It says english manual supplied on cd rom. It does not tell you that the hard copies are in spanish. They do not tell you that it comes with a Euorpean charger. You can not use these chargers in the united states. Tiger Direct will laugh at you when you call and ask about a regular charger. The phone I got stopped working after 2 days. It will not even turn on. I have written amazon about the shady dealings of TigerDirect.
The lawyer I spoke with did say if enough people came forward. Then it could be a class action lawsuit instead of just me. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Truth about signal booster
As for the people writing the other reviews on this product, you should not speak if you know nothing about Broadband. First of all, this booster will NOT increase your docsis cable modem speeds, no matter what you hear. This amplifier, installed correctly (at the entry point of your home) will boost your forward signal by +15db (allowing return signals to pass). Most cable modem operating level ranges are +15 to -15, so if your within that range on your cable modems operating frequency (for example 705mhz) there is no need for a booster. If you are on the treshhold of signal, like -17db, then this amp will be beneficial to you. Your GUI on your cable modem will give you this reading (http://192.168.100.1 for example). As for your cable reception, and amplifier can be helpful if you have multiple TV's, to make up for the loss that your splitters create. But again, this amp MUST be installed @ your cables entry point to your home. If you have a bad connection though, you will only amplify noise. So your outside drop connection from the pole must be good for an amp to work properly. In conclusion, your modem downloads a config file from your ISP which tells that modem what speeds to run at, and your ISP's router capacities determine what kind of speeds you get. So this amplifier will NOT boost speeds :-)

5-0 out of 5 stars Well worth the money for my household ...
i've got one jack in my apartment and i need 8 cable line feeds (3 tv's, 3 vcr's, 1 tivo and cable internet) and the lines needed to be split 6 ways to sunday. landlord wouldn't allow a new jack to be installed so i had to figure something else out. the signal in some rooms were totally unwatchable so i had to disconnect a few things just to strenghten the signal. it improved a bit but not by much.

then i heard about this booster. decided to check it out and made the purchase at circuit city. i didn't expect the $80 price tag but figured if it didnt give me what i wanted i could always return it and get a refund. i found it in the internet area and at the time i wasnt aware that it could also boost cable modem speeds as well. so i get it home and connect everything.

wow... perfect signals thru out my home. then i reconnect all of my signals the way i originally planned and there was no degrading of the perfect signal at all. the completely unwatchable channels on my girlfriends tv (the ones that she records her soaps on) are now as clear and vivid as they can possibly be. even boosted my internet speed from an average of 3200 down to an average of about 4300 down.

i picked this up saturday the 20th. sunday i had a couple friends over who have similar issues with their cable. after seeing my improvements they went out that day and bought signal boosters.

for me this was an excellent purchase. did exactly what i wanted it to do and even more considering i didnt buy it because of its capabilities with boosting cable internet... which it seems to do very well. i highly recommend this product.

4-0 out of 5 stars This device fixed all of my cable modem problems!
Since moving to a rural area, my cable modem reception became very unreliable. The modem would lose synchronization with the ISP's network several times per day. I had techs from the cable company examine my set up two times. They could not find anything wrong. The only recommendation they could give was that I not use a signal splitter. I had one cable going to my modem and the other to my ATI All-in-Wonder video card. Removing the splitter improved my modem reception a little, but the synchronization problems persisted, and I could no longer watch TV on my computer.

By chance I saw this signal amplifier in the store. My experience with such consumer electronic gizmos has not been good so my initial reaction was to shy away from it. But since it was from Motorola, the manufacturer of my cable modem, and the clerk would take it back if it didn't work, I decided to give it a try. I am very glad I did!

Using this signal amplifier has solved all of my cable modem synchronization problems. Network synchronization now happens within ten seconds of powering-up my modem, where before it would take two minutes, if at all. Furthermore, my modem stays connected-it hasn't gone down since I installed the amplifier.

On the down side, this amplifier noticeably downgraded (or is overdriving) my analog cable TV signal with what appears to be digital interference. The amplifier is mounted outside under the eves of my home where the cable comes in from the telephone pole. The Sony Trinitron XBR television in my living room shows a little interference on all channels, but it is not really noticeable unless you look for it. However, on my ATI All-In-Wonder card the interference is a lot more noticeable, rendering several channels almost unwatchable.

4-0 out of 5 stars GREAT PURCHASE!! :)
I have spent alot of money on trying to improve the cable television reception on my computer monitor... which was pretty bad at first. In order to improve it, I bought a somewhat costly surge protecter for power conditioning, A $30 Monster gold plated splitter, and 3 Monster gold plated coaxial cables that were only 3 feet long, but were priced at $30 EACH. They did make significant improvement in the picture and sound quality, but nothing like the signal booster which improved my signal to near PERFECTION. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because there is ONE channel that doesn't come up perfect & that is channel 2 which has only average picture and sound...but considering the fact that before i had the booster I couldn't even SEE and hardly HEAR channel 2 at all, I am EXTREMELY happy with it. I don't often write reviews for products even though I shop Amazon alot, but I am so happy to finally have great tv signal that I had to say something. :)

5-0 out of 5 stars It works great with cable modem
Fixed my slow internet connection. Something I wish the cable compay would provide free of charge for customer with weak signal. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Almost Perfect
Great looking phone, definitely a head turner, good features: bluetooth, mp3 ringtones, good camera (for a phone), ring lights, etc. I was worried about the reception of the phone since it doesn't have an external antena, but it's great. (it's better than my previous phones a motorola v70 & v300). Software seems responsive, no "please wait" message while searching or scrolling the phonebook, which i sometimes got on the v300. Now for the not so good part: if you have chubby fingers, some of the buttons are hard to push, specially the volume control in one of the sides and the one's beside the joystick. The battery cover is hard to take off and is made of a plastic that seems to be easily breakable. Also when you flip the phone to answer a call it takes a second or two to connect, which can make you miss some calls, if you don't respond promptly.

Overall I think this is a great phone though not perfect, but if you like small & stylish motorola phones, you'll love this one. I even prefer it over the v3, (slimmer but bulkier) that felt like i was carrying a palm or pocket pc in my pants.

3-0 out of 5 stars cool but not perfect
i've had this phone for about 4 months and it does turn heads. that being said i must also warn you that they have 2 main problems that i've experienced.

1.-the joystick is on the outside and it's small and not flat to the phone which means it's easy to snap off. mine fell off after 4 months of just taking it around in my pocket.

2.- the phone flips up with quite a bit of force and after a while it's not as "tight" as it used to be.

so those are the things i dont like about the phone, what i do like are bluetooth, camera, triband, rhythm lights, looks, web access and mp3 ringtones. so basically it's a great phone just as long as your careful with it. i'm getting a v600 now for my work phone which is basically the same phone but quadband and a clamshell design but most importantly damn near indestructable. ...
