1-0 out of 5 stars Does not charge all types of batteries.
Be warned if you have other types of NiMH batteries they may not work in Monster Chargers.

I bought this charger at Circit City and it came with 4 batteries. I went ahead and charged two of them so I can use them. It charged them in less than three hours but they did get very warm even hot which the charger says they should not be. After I charged them I saw that my camera batteries needed charger. I had Maxell NiMH rechargable batteries, I go and put them in the charger and nothing happens. The light does not go on. The unit makes no noise and acts like I have nothing in there. I have 10 of these Maxell NiMH rechargable total and none of them will work. I had to end up charging my camera batteries in my slow 9 hour charger.

I got this charger because it was quicker and I though it could charge any NiMH battery. I see that only the batteries that have those little plastic holes on the top will charge and the Duracell Accu AAA worked. I ended up returing the charger and bought from www.nimhbattery.com the MAHA POWEREX MH-C401FS charger. I put those Maxell NiMH in the Powerex and it worked like it suppose too and it lets you charge them either fast 100 minutes or slow 5 hours which makes the batteries not get hot. A charger that suppose to charge NiMH batteris suppose to charge any NiMH batteries no matter what the make is.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great recharger and batteries
I love these batteries! Since they are 2000 mAh (mind where 2100 mAh, don't know why) these batteries last a long time. They last even longer than my one time use alkaline batteries per charge. That's right per charge. I'm not talking about lasting longer in the life time of the batteries because that's obvious since they are rechargable. I'm talking about fully charging these batteries only one time and they still out last Durecell one time use alkaline batteries. Finally rechargable batteries that perform better then one time use batteries.

Alkaline batteries are yesterday's technology meaning they are not good enough for today's high powered electronics. Either buy one time use Lithium batteries or get these. These batteries are more cost effective since they are rechargable. My digital camera used to eat through alkaline batteries within a few hours but with these batteries I can last days on only one charge. Now that's a huge increase.

This advice is very important...to get the best performance out of these batteries and any rechargable batteries you have to fully charge and discharge the batteries at least 3 times. If not then you might get poor performance. This is just a good rule to remember because it's true for all rechargable batteries no matter what kind they are.

The recharger itself isn't that bad. I only roughly timed it but it takes about 3 hours to fully charge. It's well worth the wait for the stamina it gives you in battery life. One minor problem I did notice is that the top two connectors charge faster than the bottom two. Not a problem if you are only charging 2 batteries at a time. When you are charging 4 batteries just move the bottom 2 batteries to the top when the top 2 are done. Other than that it's a great charger. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Picture Quality!
The picture quality on the Monster Gamelink 400 is quite breathtaking, especially on my Mitsubishi 55" Wide-screen HDTV. Without going into technical details, this is by far the best way to hook up the PS2 to your television. Before purchasing, make certain that your television has Component video input AND that you have a receiver with fiber optic digital inputs. You will need a TOS-link fiber optical cable to transfer sound as yes, the GameLink 400 does not include sound. TOS-link cables are quite common and can be found for as little as [PRICE] for a 10' cable, a small price to pay for the huge increase in sound quality and to get the most out of your system.

Visible to the naked eye
The bright side:

You CAN get better, crystal-clear picture quality. After using S-Video for several years and the going to component, you'll instantly notice colors on the TV you have never seen before. It's not easy to put in words, but if you are ever in an electronics store, look for a demo comparing composite to S-Video to component, and you'll be amazed. Paying the extra money to go to component is definitely worth it when it comes to your DVD's.

The dark side:

When it comes to DVD's, this component output is incredible. When it comes to your PS2 games... no noticable difference in my view. Maybe there is or was, but it didn't catch my attention like it did with the DVD picture.

Is it really necessary or worth the money to get Monster Cables? In my opinion, the answer is NO. I did a test with a 3rd-Party Component PS2 cable...no difference whatsoever. It seems Monster Cable jacks up their prices with their unnecessary mumbo-jumbo features of how they were constructed with nitrogen/plutonium and the gold/diamond/kryptonite ingredients (I'm not being completely serious, by the way)...but, hey, cables are cables. I mean unless you have like thunderstorms, hailstorms, tornadoes and/or massive electromagnetic fields generating in your living room, yeah, you may need these high-quality, invincible cables. But in my opinion, there's no real need. So what if these quality cables last a life time? Name a single person in this world who would keep a PS2 for so long in his/her life.

My advice is to just get the cheap cables. They are good enough. Or look for the Monster brand cheap like I did on eBay. Seeing that Component cables have three jacks, I've noticed many people make the mistake believing audio is included...NOPE. Those three Red, Blue, and Green plugs are for video ONLY. Go with component, but not Monster brand.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not recommended
I bought these cables because I have used monster cables and been happy with them. However, after a month or so of use, there was a short in the cables near where they attach to the Playstation. We had to tape the cables to the power cord in order to get a color picture. After about a week of this, they no longer would show a color picture at all. Save your money. The cables do an incredible job while they work but are not worth the money you spend on them when they break.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow, very much worth the $$
#1, this is in my opinion a MAJOR upgrade if you play games at the very least a couple times a week and have a more up-to-date monitor/TV(preferebly widescreen). I recently upgraded my tv to the Sony KF-42WE610 LCD, this is in itself a big leap in color, detail, etc. However as an example, GT3..one of the best games ever made. Beginning credits with the Polyphony logo I can actually see the "grain" inside the engine walls just before the ignition and the engine starts. Replays look like real-time footage. In-game while playing if you are able to draft the car in front of you, you can see the sky's reflection of clouds off the car in front of you. Now, granted this detail has just as much to do with the TV that i have and the fact that i used Sound and Vision's HT setup DVD setup disc. Which brings me once again to my initial point, if you are not seeing results it is not the cable it is your TV, recommend upgrading to at least a flat screen CRT that is HD compatible. In order to take full advantage of your TVs capability, you should calibrate it using a DVD such as S/V setup DVD or Avia Guide DVD. Definitley worth the money IMO.

You Won't Believe The Difference This Cables Make!!!!!!!!!!!
I researched these cables a lot before I bought them and everyone seemed to say that they were better than the Sony S-Video cable. Let me tell, I KNEW these cables would make a difference but I never would have thought they would make SUCH A SIGNIFICANT Difference as they have! I have my PS2 hooked up to a relatively small 20' Sony TV and the difference is unbelievable! I put in Madden and the crowd and turf looked sooooo detailed---that was my test.

I convinced my friend to buy them for his 27'-inch Sony TV and he's lovin' it. Also, I bought the Monster S-Video cables to use with my X-Box and my 32' Sony Wega TV and the picture and sound are excellent.

The jump in quality from standard composite (RCA) cables to S-Video is quite significant. The jump from S-Video to Component is not as significant. If your TV has an S-Video jack, get these cables, PERIOD. People complain about the $40 price?!?!?!?! What the heck is wrong with you people?!?! It's only $40 and you're telling me you rather play $50 games on a $200 - $300 (depending when you bought it) System with crap--that's why they came Free with the system--cables that has inferior Picture quality?!

BUY THESE CABLES AND EXPERIENCE YOUR PS2 LIKE THEY WAY IT WAS DESIGNED TO! You absolutely will not be disappointed. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars A decent unit
This is a decent line conditioner. It filters out a lot of noise from my power, including all of my appliances. The one thing it can't seem to filter out completely, however, is the Dimmers on the torchier lamps. I can always hear when one of those darn things is on. Otherwise its a decent unit.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Good Power Filter for Audio or Home Theatre
I have only used this power filter, and the Montster Power HTS1000, but I can notice a difference between the two in my home theatre and audio system. I upgraded from the HTS1000 to the HTS3500 to help get rid of the pop I would sometimes see on the screen, or hear in my music due to a large appliance in my apartment complex. This device has done more than just get rid of that, but it has really enhanced my digital products (DVD and CD) with it's special filter sections. My CD player sounds more focused, and the ocassions I hear any "digital jitter" are far less. Besides enhancing my system in that way, it is a great looking unit, and goes well with my system. I feel; however, that the LED's are two bright, and the outlets should have a selection to be switched or un-switched. Besides that, a great unit. If you don't own any type of power filter, get one. They are so much more than just surge suppressors. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Clean power/Surge protector for under $100
This is a great value for a power cleaner/surge protector under $100. This will clean dirty electricity better than pieces in the hundreds of dollars in other brands, for a better picture and better sound. It also protects against cable spikes with it's coax protection. Not only are the color coded outlets nice to look at, they also help to correctly unplug the home theatre component you were looking for. Try and find something like this with an 1850 Joule rating, that has a lifetime replacement warranty. When your tv blows up from a lightning hit, don't say I didn't warn you. I bought 4 of these for all my tv's!! I recommend these to all!

5-0 out of 5 stars It Has A Phone Jack Sujo
I own this powercenter. It's great and performs better than my "Tripp" IT HAS A PHONE JACK. I don't know why Target would publish a review from someone who obviously can't figure out which model he/she bought. Unfortunately for Monster ... they did. A happy Monster purchaser and convert who has experienced the "Monster Difference".

5-0 out of 5 stars I've Got The Power!
Works great----Not sure if I'll ever need the surge protection...but it's nice knowing my gear is protected. The extra long, flexible power cord and color-coded outlets with labels are very convienent. Well worth the 50 bucks.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not worth it's cost
I admit, this is a nice "looking" power strip and it will work just fine with your electronics equipment, but you can get the same quality in a surge power strip for half the price of this one. With Monster Cable products,it seems that 50% of the product's price is in the way it "looks",not what it actually "does".

1-0 out of 5 stars No phone jacks
The description of the products says "Protects coaxial and phone lines used with DBS equipment from surge pulses." It doesn't define "DBS equipment" and there are no phone jacks -- making it impossible for me to use it as a protection for phone lines. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Excellent splitter
The dude from Carlsbad got a 4-way splitter (given the specs he/she quotes). Make sure you properly terminate unused outputs on your 4-way.

This is a 2 way and works as advertised.

5-0 out of 5 stars Monster Cable TGHZ-2RF - The perfect cable splitter!
After making some recent upgrades in my primary audio/video system it became clear that the two way splitter that the cable company provided was simply inadequate to the task. Upon doing some research I determined that this particular splitter made by one of the industries most reputable manufacturers was going to have to be the way to go. Upon hooking up this superior two-way splitter in conjunction with Monster's MV3F2M NF Video 3 coaxial cables there was quite a wonderfully distinct difference in the picture on my new television.

After seeing such a distinct improvement in the signal for my primary audio/video system I immediately went out and purchased another one for the computer room to use for both the cable modem and the television in that room. This is the perfect two-way splitter for either a television/cable modem hookup or a television with PIP (picture-in-picture) capability in conjunction with a cable box or satellite receiver!

I highly recommend this outstanding cable splitter to any and all who're interested in getting the best picture available from their television sets or signal for their cable modems. The end results far outweigh the costs for this splitter! {ssintrepid}

5-0 out of 5 stars Forget RadioShack
The splitter my cable company installed degraded the signal on the bigscreen TV, especially on the lowest (2-6) and highest 54-60) channels. The cable tech wanted to sell me a powered signal amp for $32. It worked, but I passed and bought this model. The results were as good as the fancy booster, without the fuss.

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Phenomenal!
This 2Ghz splitter is sooo good, I would easily pay twice the price for it and it would still be worth every penny! I have a TV tuner in my computer that has the cable signal passing through FOUR of these Monster Cable 2Ghz splitters, and there is virtually no signal degradation, most notably on the troublesome lower band channels like 2 and 3.

The reception on our big-screen TV is the best it has ever been, too, using this splitter and the high-quality MC coax cable.

_Before_ I installed these MC splitters, I was using the best gold-plated splitters available from one of your favorite national electronic parts suppliers around the corner, and the signal for channels 2 and 3 was basically dead on arrival with extremely snowy picture and noisy sound interference.

Great job, Monster Cable! You've done it again by proving that nothing else compares. Thank you! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great (llow cost) UPS
I bought 5 of these for the computers in the house. I would have got better ones but the house has an auto generator so all I need is about 30 seconds of power. I noticed in another review the person saying there unit was going of and on battery mode even when the power was still on... To my understanding this unit detects (dirty power) and when it detects it, it will then stop accepting ac power. I think the software it comes with allows you to turn the feature off or even turn the sensitivity up.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good second unit
I bought one of these 10 months ago for my daughter's eMac. It has functioned well despite many power 'blinks' and short outages due to thunderstorms and such. I have a larger APS unit on our cable modem and wireless base station-equipped main home computer. It provides the main backup and surge protection to our home computing systems. The BE350U would be a bad choice for a larger machine or a modem-using computer but for our sort of secondary computer situation it has worked well. The shutdown software kicks in when needed and we have never lost any files as a result.

2-0 out of 5 stars Beware!
If you have a cable modem for broadband connection to the internet, your unit will not be covered by the APS warranty on this device. Lightning hit near our house and the motherboard plus router got fried. The cable modem stayed intact and we filed a claim with APS. They denied it saying backend surges through the cable may have caused the damage (even though the modem wasn't hurt?).

1-0 out of 5 stars went belly-up after one month
After one month of use, it now randomly beeps and randomly kicks the power off (you can hear the relay inside the unit going up and down). Doesn't matter if anything is plugged in or not.

Another notable: the on-off switch on the unit does NOT turn off the 3 outlets that are surge protected. Most computer equipment now are vampires (draw power even when turned off). I personally prefer to cut the power to my computer equipment when not in use.

Have had better luck with other APC products. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Solid unit...with a catch
I have owned one of these UPS's for about 3 years. Earlier this year the alarms went off indicating that the battery needed replacement. I thought that was odd considering the age of the unit. No problem though, I'll just log onto APC's website and order a replacement battery. Wasn't I surprised to see that APC indicates that this model doesn't have a replacable battery. This didn't make much sense to me since the unit has an access door to the battery compartment.

Well, I removed the battery and found a web vendor that had a replacement for $18. It is a very common 12volt cell and was available from several vendors. The unit is back up and working well again.

I have experienced several black-outs in the past few years and this UPS can keep my CPU, 19" monitor, cable modem & network switch operable for enough time to save any work in progress and shut down my system.

In closing, it is a well designed unit with adequate power for most home or small office systems. But I was a little put off by the short life of the original battery and incorrect replacement information listed by APC.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great unit!
This unit is my 2ed UPS made by APC. I out grew the other and decided on this unit. The USB connection is what sold me on this as I leave my computer on most of the day. It did shut down (using the included software) during a test I ran and the software as gives you a battery charge state. A must have if you are in an area that has frequent power problems. With the built in surge protection, you can't go wrong.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Way to Hook your Gamecube up
Why suffer with RCA video cables anymore? There is a better way to hook your game system up and it's with S-Video. I don't know all the techno babble and why S-Video is better. All I can tell you though is it is. The picture looks a lot better throught S-video than it does through a coax link or RCA cables. There are a couple of different brands of the cables you can get out there, but I'm impressed with these. The long 10 feet cables are great and sturdy. It has gold connectors which are suppose to help give a better picture.

This is the best way to view your video game system. It's clear and crisper and provides a slightly better gaming experience. This brand of cables is kind of pricey, but is suppose to be one of the best. Just hook up on S-Video and enjoy.

5-0 out of 5 stars S Video is good
I am mostly writing this to correct a comment made in the previous review. S-Video does not enable progressive scan output, only component video allows that. The Gamecube component video cable is only available through nintendo's website. Aside from that, this is the best way to hook up your gamecube!

4-0 out of 5 stars Definite Improvements
I had recently purchased a Samsung LTN 325W flat panel television. As you may/may not know, LCD televisions tend to receive analog signals poorly. That was no exception when I used the standard composite cable provided with the Gamecube and hooked it up directly to the Samsung. I decided to give Monster's S-Video cable a try, and I was fortunately not disappointed. Using an S-Video cable separates the color and brightness of the video signal, allowing it to be processed cleanly and more accurately. In addition, it allows you to utilize the Gamecube's progressive scan output. The result, a sharper, more vibrant picture. Give it a shot with Mario Golf and Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. There were definitely improvements. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Monster Cable worth the extra money
I used to wonder why spend the extra money. It's just cable after all. Well, I wonder no more. I have an older TV and a decent but older receiver. The sound was okay but I was wanting something better. I bought a couple of these cables, and S-Video cable and 16 gauge Monster speaker wire.

My system is AWESOME now. I was truely impressed at what a difference a $50 (or there about) investment in cables made.

2-0 out of 5 stars Oops, wrong size
I bought this set in an attempt to improve the quality of analog to DVD using a Canopus box. The problem was, the cable jacks were too large for my VCR's component output. They fit in the jacks, but were loose would only provide a connection when I jiggled them about. I've never had this problem with this type of cable before, very disappointing.

3-0 out of 5 stars Um... It's Just WIRE and CONNECTORS
I've purchased a lot of cable recently including S-Video, Component Video, and Optical Cable. I purchased this short cable to run data from my progressive scan DVD player to my Denon 987. And to be perfectly honest, the stuff Sears sells in their audio/video department works just as well as Monster and costs quite a bit less. Mind you, I'm not anti-Monster, heck my house is filled with 100s of feet of 16-gauge Monster THX cable. But you can get really good cable for a lot less if you look around. Try Ebay for starters...

4-0 out of 5 stars S-Video vs. Component on a 14" Flat Screen
I can't believe this item hasn't been written about more often. At the time of my purchase it was ranked in the top 450 in sales at Amazon.

As for the cable, I purchased it mainly out of curiosity--to see if there really was an improvement over S-Video. I'm currently using a 14" JVC I'Art Flat Screen TV and a Toshiba SD3950 DVD player.

To my surprise there is a slight difference in look between the two when viewed on a small monitor. The S-Video is slightly washed out whereas the Component cable deals better with the contrast. Without using any of the DVD presets (e.g. "Enhanced Black Levels") shawdows and dark areas seem richer and the colors pop out a little more--although its probably not as noticeable to the average consumer.

For myself, who is really picky about the look, it was worth it at such a cheap price. For most conusmers using a 14" screen it won't matter and using an S-Video cable along with tweaking the DVD presets to "Enhance Black Levels" they should be fine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Happy
This Component Video Cable is one of the better home electronics purchases I have made. I bought a Toshiba 51" HD-ready big screen, an Onkyo Theatre-in-a-box, and a Toshiba progressive Scan DVD player. I used these cables to connect the DVD player to the TV for picture (and optical cable for sound).

There is quite a noticable difference in quality to the S-video output I was using prior to purchasing this cable. I would have to say that the picture is better than movie theater quality. You absolutely have to get this cable if you are considering purchasing a progressive scan DVD player and an HD or HD ready TV (plasma too for that matter). This cable lets your system be the best it can be, and will probably remain top-notch as long as component video is the best AV solution. ... Read more

I haven't actually owned these Monster Video 2 Component cables, but I did own the Monster Video 3 Component cables which run for about 100 bux for the same length. If you're going to run all over these cables and pound them with hammers then these cables are wonderful. The cables do no work, they are just a medium that signals must pass through. Hence, the better cables are the ones that preserve the 75 ohm signal without distortion. But this is precisely the problem with ALL component cables that use RCA interconnects. The physics of the RCA connection do not allow for the ideal 75 ohms to pass through unmolested by interference, regardless of how great the cable is or how much it costs. In fact, the implementation of RCA interconnects was never intended for video use. It began as an audio solution and manufacturers gradually implemented it instead of the BNC interconnect because of cheaper costs and user familiarity.

In the end, I don't think these more expensive cables make a noticable difference in performance. For that matter, I don't see why people prefer to use toslink (optical) over digital coaxial. 5-0 out of 5 stars A definite buy!
I do have to admit that being a smart shopper I was hesitant to shell out so much money for "just a cable". But upon the advise of a coworker who said "now that you have a big screen TV you HAVE TO GET A COMPONENT VIDEO CABLE". And right he was. I definitely notice a difference in picture color (not necessiarly in quality but the colors are cleaner and more true to life) when playing DVD movies. I would definitely advise investing in a good cable!

5-0 out of 5 stars top of the line product
It may sound somewhat surprising, at first glance, that a short piece of cable between your TV and DVD player can make a noticeable difference in the picture quality, but once you compare a cheap cable with a good one, you'll see that there is a difference! My DVD player came with a very cheap-looking cable with three RCA connectors on each side, and I used this cable to hook up the DVD player to the component (RGB) input of my TV before doing anything else. I dismissed this cable immediately as the picture was much noisier than I expected. A $15 S-Video cable performed better. However, I had to adjust the settings in video equalizer of my DVD player to increase color saturation, and also had to decrease sharpness of the picture to make noise unnoticeable. Finally, I bought the Monster cable (don't tell my wife about it!). This cable resulted in a perfectly sharp and clean picture without any adjustments in the CD player. Due to double-shielding of this cable, there was no sign of the noise that I saw with the S-Video cable either.

I do not know if there is a noticeable difference between this cable and a less sophisticated one that may cost half of its price. I guess, everything depends on the kind of TV and DVD player you are using. But I can say for sure that my experience convinced me that there is a tremendous difference between this high-end cable and those from the very low end.

The last thing: I do not think that it makes any sense to use such an expensive cable for a connection other than component video (Y + two color difference channels), also called "color stream" by Toshiba. If you do not have a component video input, use either S-video, or composite video (Video+2 audio connector). In the latter case (or if you need a cable to connect your VCR) a cheaper cable would do. This one is worth the money only if you do not want to settle for anything less than perfect.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Quality just Way Overpriced!!
These and all other brand cables from MC are all overpriced including these. I have a 20" JVC I'Art television and I have my DVD connected through component. I have used Monster Cable component cables and they put out pretty much the exact same picture as my newer PHILIPS brand component cables that I only had to pay about [$$$] or so for. The PHILIPS are also shielded and gold plated and all that good stuff. So buy these MC component cables if you dont care about price, but otherwise buy PHILIPS brand that are way cheaper and put out the same quality picture.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Cable at Good Price
Recently bought a Analog Big Screen TV. Switched from S-Video to Component cables. There is a big difference. The picture looks more film like with Component cables. Do not hesitate to upgrade. Stay away from cheap Wally World brands. You get what you pay for. The S-Video cable I used was Monster Cable M1000 sv.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Part for your home audio system
This is a great part of your home audio system should you decide to hook your computer or other device with a minijack plug in to it. A good long cable (other lengths are sold both in a M HP-10 and in the THX series). If you are unsatisfied with your current speakers, and have a good hifi system, but lack the digital connections such as S/PDIF out or Optical on your system, this is the way to go.

5-0 out of 5 stars Well worth the $$$
I previously had tried to connect my PC sound card to my stereo receiver in order to play my MP3's on a real system and not my subpar computer speakers...but the sound I got from those cables, was absolutely horrendous. I quickly did more research and discovered Monster Cable's 20' minijack-to-RCA cable (perfect since my PC and stereo are on opposite sides of my room, I still have cable length to spare) and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality sound reproduction. Of course, the sound coming out of your stereo will depend on the quality of that component itself, but with Monster Cable's dual cable and single length (no extension cords to cause dissipation of the sound signal) you too will want to get this equipment...Especially, if you're an audiophile and listen to MP3's all the time, like me.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not sure if it's worth the money? Read on.
If you're like me, you are probably wondering if these little cables are actually worth the money. I was using cheap thin wired connections before, and my receiver would have LOTS of background noise and buzzing, so I thought I'd go ahead and give these things a shot. Afterall, I listen to MP3's all the time on my computer through my high end receiver. I'll tell you what, these things work great, and are worth the extra money. Now keep in mind, I'm an audiophile who is very picky about sounds. So for the casual listener who doesn't mind occasional background hissing or lack of crystal clear sound transfer from your computer to your receiver, you might be able to find a cheaper connection. But once again, I think the extra $$ is well worth it and I HIGHLY recomend these. Your only concern here is an economical one. As far as the product is concerned, these things are top notch. Get the 20 feet if you have to go across the a long wall or room to connect your computer to the receiver, otherwise the 10 ft should suffice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quality cable.
I was suprised that this item was as expensive as it was. However, I decided to buy it because a bad connection can make high-quality components sound bad. I was very impressed with this cable. The gold-plated male connector makes a solid connection to the computer input. The wires are massive and the RCA-stereo connectors are well-shielded, gold-plated and sturdy. This was a very good investment. I recommend it for anyone trying to connect a tape player or other device to their computer. It's a must have for people burning CD's of the LP or tape collection.

4-0 out of 5 stars Monster Cable Minijack to RCA
This is a great product and has been very helpful. While the price is a little higher than what I would like to see, I probably wouldn't hesitate to buy another one if I needed it. I have used this cable to connect my TV and computer to my stereo system. Great for parties when you want your MP3's heard on the real stereo system! ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

Monster Cable's Monster Video 2 (MV2) component-video cable uses high-purity, high-density copper stranding for lower signal loss and heightened protection from video noise--both of which are real considerations in complex, high-resolution home theaters, especially over a six-foot cable run like this cable provides.

The cable's double shielding blocks most electromagnetic and radio-frequency interference, while its low-loss insulator delivers efficient signal transfers from your satellite receiver, DVD player, gaming console, or camcorder.

The MV2CV's straight-cut turbine RCA and split-tip pins provide excellent contact pressure at both ends, while its corrosion-resistant 24k gold contacts ensure high signal integrity. If you've already adopted the sensible habit of cleaning your cable contacts with alcohol every so often, you'll find you can afford to do it a little less often when using gold-tipped interconnects.

3-0 out of 5 stars why pay so much?
Here's a little lesson in understanding optical digital cables from "The complete guide to high end audio" (p. 244-5) "Toslink is the low-cost optical interface promoted by mass-market audio manufacturers as an alternative to coaxial connection...the major electronics companies had two good reasons for trying to convert the world to toslink. First, toslink jacks and cables are cheaper than coaxial jacks and cables. Second, toslink conncetion makes it easier for the compoonents to meet FCC requirements for radiated noise. An electrical signal traveling down copper (such as a coax connection) throws off RF (radio frequency) noise that could interfere with radio and television transmission. The FCC will simply ban products that don't meet its criteria for radiated noise. Because toslink sends the signal as light down a plastic fiber, it produces no radiated noise. toslink (opical) is by far the worst interface, both mechanically (the physical connection between cable and jack), electrically (it has the lowest bandwidth), and sonically. Toslink conncetion tends to blur the separation between individual instrument images, adds a layer of grunge over instrumental textures, softens the bass, and doesn't have the same sense of black silence between notes."

Now, the only reason why you would want to get these cables is because you know that factory provided toslink cable is low-quality that is prone to damage (bending and wearing out)and eventualy you will have to replace the cable. You may want these monster cables because they will last a while, and not because they sound better. I gave three stars because I think they are costly and I am not sure they'll actually last 4 times longer than regular cables.
