5-0 out of 5 stars NETGEAR Fan!
As stated in the other review, this product is housed in a sturdy metal casing, has lots of indicator lights, and comes from Bay Networks.

I use my DS-108 in a 100% Netgear environment. It is connected to my NetGear RT-328 ISDN Router. I have had no problems with this piece and it worked as advertised right out of the box.

The support for NetGear products is great! You can get lots of answers from the NetGear website as well as register your products online too.

I am a Systems Administrator for a growing software development company, and I give NetGear two thumbs up! If you can't or don't want to pay big bucks for Cisco, 3Com, Intel, then NetGear is for you-- the most BANG for the BUCK!

2-0 out of 5 stars Mediocre Hub With Issues
I've been using this hub for about 6 months now and am looking to replace it. About once a week, it hangs unrecoverably and requires its power cord removed to power it off, then replaced to reset it. In short, it is really a pain, and since hubs like this are a dime a dozen you would probably be better off with an SMC or a D-Link.

5-0 out of 5 stars Way better than Linksys!
Too many Linksys hubs getting cooked. I've replaced several of them with this hub without a problem since. NETGEAR TAKE NOTE: When you have a LOT of Netgear components, you want them all to look/stack in a uniform manner! So why the silly silver oval garbage with the dim LED's??? I like rectangular blue metal! It's a much more professional design to work with.
Get these hubs before they're all gone and all you can get is funny colored plastic.

5-0 out of 5 stars a blazing, sturdy hub
Net gear is owned by by Bay Networks, which does not make rinky dink equipment.

This hub has solid metal construction, sockets in the front, and lots of flickering lights that show the tranfer speed, and show who is connecting at either 10 or 100 Mbs. We use it to share one (adelphia 2-way cable) internet connection among 6 PCs, along with files and printing. No problems so far.

This hub handles the standard hub task with ease, and with a utilitarian aesthetic quality that you won't see in 3com's white plastic. 3Coms tries to disguise their hub as an external modem- why?

(p.s. I'm confused as to why 3Com's 8-port 10/100 hub costs over twice as much) ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad Choice
IT's not USB 2.0, with the same amount of money you can buy a USB 2.0 Hub that will work better.

Not Recomended.

1-0 out of 5 stars A world of trouble
Don't buy this! I used this on a Mac. It worked OK when I just had a couple of devices on it, but when I added a Wi-Fi USB adapter, it caused frequent computer crashes on startup, loss of Internet connection, and freezing of my mouse. I thought it was the adapter's fault, but after reading the reviews here, I bought a D-Link USB hub to replace it. Haven't had a problem since!

1-0 out of 5 stars Worked fine, then died
This hub worked fine for over a year, and then stopped working completely (lights don't go on).

1-0 out of 5 stars Avoid like the plague (or suffer a heartbreak)
I've had this hub for a while and it worked fine (even though the AC adapter was a little bit clunky). But recently I tried attaching an 802.11b receiver via the USB and the thing wouldn't work after 3 days of use - Windows reported it being an Unknown Device. Plugging into the back of my computer would still report the same problem - I figured the wireless adapter was faulty. But then...

The other day I plugged a trusty Sidewinder into the hub to play some old games. Tonight the same thing happened - Windows now refuses to recognize the gamepad I've used faithfully for years now. I am convinced this hub is the culprit. Spend a little more money to buy a hub whose quality you can really depend on!

Perhaps this was purely my own experience with a faulty hub, but I'd strongly recommend you consider another product - you may be putting your expensive electronics at unnecessary risk.

1-0 out of 5 stars Intermittantly works
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Most of the time, I have to cycle around through the ports, and then if I'm lucky it will recognize the device. Sometimes it even "drops out" part way through a transmission. Very frustrating. Belkin used to have a good reputation. I guess they can make more money selling junk nowadays. ... Read more

The DSS-8+ provides dynamic buffer allocation that employs network-load balancing for faster data handling. The uplink interface connection enables easy expansion. The DSS-8+ uses fast store-and-forward architecture to ensure low latency and high data integrity.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Low Cost Switch
I love this switch. I purchased it when it cost much more than this, but I would still pay the price I paid then for it. My network went from slow to fast in about 5 minutes. I had a game party with 10 other people and a Linksys switch cascaded off of this onw and we had zero lag, and had a blast. (Playing QIII, Codename: Eagle, Need for Speed: Porsche) At the price it is now, I'm seriously considering buying another one. :)

5-0 out of 5 stars D-Link and Switches are like Peanut Butter and Jelly
When I thought of expanding my network to more that the current number of computers I have I naturally thought of D-Link for a quality switch. I chose the DSS-8+ because it is relatively inexpensive, small, and has 8 ports.

After purchasing this I found that it is actually faster than and older 5-Port switch I currently own and operate from D-Link. You don't see this very often. They are both 10/100Base-T Switches, but for some reason I get faster transmission times with the 8-Port.

There is nothing to installing a Switch, and as with any other switch there were no problems. As you probably know by now, I fully endorse D-Link and all their quality networking products.

3-0 out of 5 stars Loud!
I purchased this switch two years ago. It works perfectly except for the noise. The fan is amazingly loud. I am currently looking for a switch to replace it just because of the noise.

I see from some of the other reviews that this model has been replaced with one that doesn't have a fan. Make sure you get that one!

5-0 out of 5 stars Owned for past 6 Months - Still Working - No Problems
I bought his about 6 months ago, and it sure wasn't [the price] it is now... But I made sure then that i got one without a fan. It is much quieter, and with no moving parts i am sure it wont go bad ever.

The only thing that will make me replace this is when the standard is 1000MB/s instaed of the 100MB now. But that wont be much longer.

Highly Recommended

2-0 out of 5 stars Died after two years. Worked great for two years though.
I picked up this switch about two years ago. The internal fan stopped moving after about six months but a few blasts with an air can fixed that. It does have serious overheating issues. So after two years of being on 24/7 it finally died on me. All the LEDs were on steady and it wasn't passing any traffic.

It performed well for the two years it was in service. It's a great switch to have laying around as a spare, but definitely not for mission critical or long term use. ... Read more

Product Description

Flexible, Stackable, Fast Ethernet Switching Netgear’s low-cost, stackable, Fast Ethernet switches deliver maximum throughput and flexibility where you need it — to high-density workgroups at the edge of the network, or in the backbone of small networks. The ProSafe FSM7328S is a managed 24-port switch with auto-sensing 10/100 ports and four 10/100/1000 ports. This enables fiber connectivity through four hot-swappable Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) gigabit interfaces. The non-blocking design of the switches delivers simultaneous, full wire-speed, low-latency throughput to all ports. In addition, their 1U rack-mount form factor uses less rack space and provides a lower per-port cost than comparable Fast Ethernet switches.Dynamic Layer 3 switching ensures reliable routing between VLANs and network segmentation where and when you need it, at no additional cost. Plus, convenient front-panel stacking via standard Gigabit Ethernet interfaces provides expandability to meet your growing network’s needs.Robust security features include IEEE 802.1x port-based authentication and access control lists, ensuring that only authorized users can access your network. Secure management of the switches is available through Secure Sockets Layer (SSLv3) for the Web GUI and Secured Shell (SSH) for command-line sessions. Additionally, multiple switches can be securely managed via SNMPv3 with Netgear’s ProSafe Network Management Software NMS100. For workgroup deploymen ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Handy
This is a very handy extention to bring usb to the front of your computer. My computer didn't have an internal plug for USB on the mothterboard, so I had to attach a USB wire to the back USB port and then send it through another back spacer to the front hub. They provide a USB cord for this and a metal spacer with a hole in it for the cord to go through. Computer had to recognize new USB and I had to tell it where to find the file, but after that it works great. Don't have firewire yet, but I bought this one in case I get it some day and want it on the front. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Keyboard that can be used as a USB hub!!!
This keyboard is a USB keyboard that worked immediately with my Dell Inspiron 5100 that runs Windows XP without installing any software. I don't use the internet keys so I don't know how great those are. Other wise this keyboard has taken a lot of pounding since I bought 6 months ago. I am a college student and all my friends use this keyboard when in my dorm room. The BEST THING about this keyboard is that it has two USB ports on the back of the actual keyboard, so it acts as a USB hub as well. It takes up one USB port on your computer but then gives you two extra USB ports! This is great for me because I have my optical mouse and my webcam hooked up to the keyboard and they all work perfectly fine. Everything about this keyboard is reliable, the keys may not be the quitest but I've had louder. Definitely a best buy unless you want a wireless keyboard. Why would you buy a regular keyboard when you can get a relatively cheap reliable keyboard that gives you two extra USB ports? Buy this and you will be satisfied.

2-0 out of 5 stars cord is too short, mushy feeling; quality isn't there
I have been working with computers for thirty years and have three computers at home so I know what a keyboard should feel like. I bought two of these keyboards because: 1. USB connectivity 2. two USB ports and 3. it is square and not too huge or round or otherwise in a weird shape. Why anyone would buy (or want to make and sell) any other type of keyboard is beyond me. I see lots of moron keyboard manufacturers making green, round, PS/2-plug keyboards with buttons everywhere and I wonder how they stay in business. Anyways, I can't use either of these keyboards for the dumb reason that the cord is too short. One would think that three or four feet is long enough but if you have the keyboard on the desk and the computer on the floor then that doesn't work. Apparently one of those morons works at keytronic. How much does two feet of cord cost? The feeling is a bit mushy but I assume one would get used to it. The USB ports are upside down. For a company specialised in keyboards I am unimpressed with Keytronic - I'm going to have to buy another two Microsoft Internet keyboards, like the one I have already. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Blitzz card ok
Needing a quick fix to connect a laptop to a home network, I hustled down to the local Walmart to pick up a laptop wireless card. They had two choices, the Blitzz card and a Linksys card. Since the Blitzz was about 2/3 the price of the Linksys, if went for it.

Setting up was a breeze, after installing the software, I placed the card in my laptop. It was instantly recognized. Then I was asked which network I wanted to join. Simple as that.

I have only had the card for a day, so I cannot attest to the durability of the item. The reception is great. I have taken it about 100 feet away from the Microsoft B base that I purchased, with an excellent signal. ... Read more
