5-0 out of 5 stars Best TV for the Money
I needed a flat-panel TV for my dorm room and this one works great. It is amazingly clear and has great sound. I was pleasantly surprised. It's an excellent TV.

5-0 out of 5 stars Magnavox 15 LCD Flat Screen TV
Great compact little TV for the money. However did get it $50 cheaper in the store. Color and Clarity are wonderful for the size.Needed a small tv for a guest bedroom, but didn't want to take up space with a bulky set. This did the trick!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
I bought this TV for myself, and I am extremely pleased with it. The picture is great with cable, and even better with DVDs. I love it, however, I bought mine for $50 less at BJ's wholesale club.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Price, Great Product
This is a terrific TV for the money. (When it bought it, it was on sale, too.) It was simple to hook up. I did not have a lot of hope for using it as a monitor for my PC, but low and behold, it functions beautifully as a monitor and a TV. The picture is clear as can be. I hooked up my VCR and DVD player and on the remote you can switch easily between TV and computer monitor. I am really pleased with this little TV.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good LCD TV
After quite a bit of shopping for a 15" LCD TV at local retailers, this one performs as well as any of its competitors ... at a much better price. Picture quality with S-Video Cable and Direct TV is very good. Plenty of inputs for DVD, Sat/Cable, Audio, etc. I'm very satisfied with this purchase and would highly recommend it to others. Amazon.com Product Description

The 20MF200V works great as a quality computer monitor or as a compact home-theater screen, providing slender, stylish viewing from a 20-inch LCD television. The high-contrast (450:1) set comes with a built-in TV tuner for easy broadcast reception. Built-in stereo speakers offer 2 watts per channel, and a remote control grants operation of most features from the convenience of your desk or couch.

LCD screens offer a number of benefits over CRT monitors and televisions, including general ease of use, freedom from eye strain (no screen flickering or radiation emissions), quiet operation (no high-pitch "flyback" noise, an issue with CRT TVs), image geometry (no curvature distortion or susceptibility to magnetic interference from, say, speakers), screen life (no risk of image burn-in), space savings, and light weight/easy positioning.

The 20MF200V features 1,024 x 768 native pixel resolution and an RGB PC input for detailed, luminous images from your computer. Other connections include composite-video and S-video inputs for your DVD player, VCR, or gaming console.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nearly Perfect Player
In my opinion, this Player (MPD 720) is the very best Portable DVD Player on the market. The 7" screen is crystal clear and can be viewed very comfortably from 5 feet away. The speakers although lacking bass, are the best quality for any 7" player. If you arent satisfied with the speakers buy some portable ones at radio shack for $10-$20 and you'll have more sound than you need for a car, train or airplane ride. The unit seems to be very durable and it has never freezed or skipped while I have used it. It is extremely portable and user friendly. Since it comes with a battery, remote, car adapter and carrying case it is the best deal out there at $275.00. The case is awesome, it easily attatches to a car seat, has room for your unit, battery, charger, adapter wires, remote, headphones (not included) and 5-10 DVD's in sleeves. The case fits all that and still only weighs about 4lbs and is only 12" by 12". A flawless design by magnavox. With a product this perfect you have to look hard for flaws and I found 3. 1)The LCD screen has more resistence than you'd think to open it(not a big deal). 2)The buttons on the unit can't be tapped to work, you have to push down and hold them for a second. 3)When the unit is first loading/stopping a DVD it run's kind of loud but soon disappears once the movie starts. Other than that this unit is perfect. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

5-0 out of 5 stars PLAIN PERFECT
I bought this mainly for my 18 month old son who loves to watch Elmo DVD movies. After doing an extensive research on brand, price, accessories and comments, I decided to go with this DVD Player. NO COMPLAINTS HERE...I always go for branded names - since these companies work hard to get to where they are right now. I am very hard to please but this DVD Player pleases my son and I BIG TIME...

4-0 out of 5 stars Mintek player with a name change
I have compared the 8-inch Magnavox with the 7-inch 1770 model from Mintek and they are very similar. The switches and jacks are all in the same places, and the battery configuration is identical. The power switch is exactly the same. I suspect that Magnavox got their players from Mintek, then put their more recognizable name on them. Since Mintek is a very small company with no track record, you might want to check out their reviews before you buy this player. I've had the Magnavox for 2 weeks, and the Mintek for 2 months, and so far they both work fine. But when you buy a big name brand, you expect that it is more reliable than the unknown maker. In this case, I don't think that assumption is justified. That's the only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Very nice player
I've had this portable DVD player for only a month and I have been quite pleased with it. The 8" TFT screen is quite nice. It provides excellent picture quality and viewing from just about any angle. Plus, with the larger screen size, two or three people can watch a movie without any problems. Color and brightness controls are easy to access and the factory settings are great as it.

For a portable player, the sound is excellent with out headphones. When I previewed it at Best Buy, I was amazed how loud it can get on its on. With headphones, the sounds is clear and crisp even without expensive noise canceling headphones. Plus, there are two ear phone jacks so two people can plug in and listen. The remote is a nice size, not to small, not too big. So far, battery life is excellent. Another good feature, is that this unit already comes with a car charger (some other brands do not).

So far, only three minor complaints. One, you can only fast forward, reverse or do slow motion with the remote. For some reason they left these buttons out on the player. In addition, there is no S-video output as advertised nor is there an option for input (so you cant plug in your playstation or x-box). Honestly, this doesn't detract from the player because it does exactly what I want...play movies when I'm traveling or on the go. Overall, its a great player with crisp, clear picture and sound. Magnivox makes another winner.

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than Average Picture w. Good Viewing Angle
Picture: This is a widescreen unit, which means most widescreen DVDs will play without black bars over and under the image. The TFT LCD display is crisp, with good horizontal (side-to-side) viewing angle, which is a real-life advantage for backseat passengers in a vehicle. Predictably, vertical (up-down) viewing angle is rather less, so you may find yourself tilting the screen occasionally to find the best picture if you change your viewing position (e.g. slouching down or sitting up straight). You can adjust the color and brightness, but the factory settings are subjectively optimal.

Sound: The sound through either of the two headphone jacks is excellent. I had expected the sound from the tiny stereo speakers just below the screen to buzzy, but it is surprisingly clear. Obviously, the laws of physics have not been repealed and they produce nothing approaching bass, but the articulation of dialog is crisp, which is much more important for movies. Another pleasant surprise: There was no buzzing or breakup even at their relatively polite "top volume."

Other observations: The case is aluminum and plastic, with an attractive brushed metal top and a generally solid feel. The screen feels very securely attached via two hinges. The removable battery included attaches to the back of the unit. The power cord is a little over seven feet, so you can't range too far from an outlet when using AC. Thermally, it stays cooler than a laptop, which is a plus for travelers, though the transformer in the AC cord gets quite warm.

A couple of gripes: 1.) The remote is nothing special, with white-on-light gray lettering being harder to read than necessary (the slide out battery drawer for the lithium button cell is a nice ergonomic touch); 2.) While you can change scenes without the remote, you need it to fast-forward or skip back within a scene. Doh! This omission alone costs a full star. Also, the disc handling mechanism is buzzy getting up to speed, then settles down to the barely-audible whirring common to DVD players everywhere. Sound-deadening adds cost, weight and thickness, so this is a logical and defensible design tradeoff.

As another reviewer noted, this unit is clearly sourced from the same manufacturer in China that sells entry-level players under the Mintek brand. One might read Mintek reviews for hints about reliability.

I have enjoyed watching movies on the MPD820 and find this is one entry-level DVD player that doesn't seem cheap at all.

4-0 out of 5 stars a Mintek player with a name change
I have compared the 8-inch Magnavox with the 7-inch 1770 model from Mintek and they are very similar. The switches and jacks are all in the same places, and the battery configuration is identical. In this case, I don't think that assumption is justified. That's the only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5. If you want this player, BestBuy.com has it for $350, with free shipping, a nice case, and 2 sets of lightweight Sony headphones.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good so far
i bought this about 2 weeks ago, watched 3-4 movies so far, picture is great, even from an angle, snound through the speakers isn't very good, but only because its small compared to the room, so it doesnt really fill it up, but its awsome with headphones, i didn't have to adjust anything volume/picture-wise (base, treble, light, dark etc.) you can't fast-forward/reverse on the unit, only change scenes, but you can from the remote, although the buttons on the unit seem kind of cheep, and it's pretty loud when loading, and kind of loud when playing, but with headphones, not loud enough (when playing) to notice/care. so all in all, im pretty satisfied, but still uncertain as to whether it will last a long time, but it seems like it, so i'll keep it as long as it doesnt brake. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars No Problems
I bought this product for my mother last Christmas (2003) and she's never had a problem with it. I set it up, works perfectly, sounds good, both DVD and VCR look good. The speakers have long cables, everything was very easy to connect. My mother has used it at least twice a week for almost a year now and she says it's still going strong. I'm sorry to the other folks that had so much trouble with theirs, but not ALL of these machines are faulty.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this.
I thought this combo would be a great deal because of the price, the ease of use, etc, but it isn't because it doesn't work. My problem was the DVD player decided to freeze at random points on all my DVDs - even brand new ones. I'm returning it today.

1-0 out of 5 stars Once again, Magnavox stinks
Beware of this product, as the DVD player will stop working whenever you least expect it. Stay away from Magavox for quality products!

1-0 out of 5 stars Not bad ... considering it doesn't WORK!
Just bought this today at Target (1/7/2003). Going to return it tomorrow. It promoises a nice all in one but like several of the other posters, something doesn't work on it. In my case, the VCR. I bought this on a spur of the moment without doing any research. Got home, set it up, went to Amazon to see the reviews, ... wish I hadn't bought it. It sounds good enough, though. And if everything worked well, I might have kept it longer. But with the on-line reviews here and it not working out of the book, I'll have owned it for less than 24 hours. *sigh* My recommendation is to NOT buy this product.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't get this one, you'll regret it!!!
I purchased this system from Target for Christmas. Everything worked except for the suround sound when it was in DVD mode. I called Magnavox about the problem, and their solution was to route the DVD signal through the VCR and use it in VCR mode. Well, that takes care of the sound, but viewing the DVD through the VCR diminishes the video quality and doesn't allow you to use the DVD functions on the remote! I took it back to the store and got my money back. I spent a little bit more money and got a fantastic Sony system instead. I'm disappointed with Magnavox on this one. I usually buy Magnavox products, but not after this. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

The perfect theater for homes with standard or high-definition televisions, Magnavox's style-conscious MRD210 consists of a Dolby Digital/DTS-decoding surround-sound receiver with an integrated single-disc progressive-scan DVD/CD player, five satellite speakers, and a passive, ported subwoofer. The DVD drive reads NTSC and PAL DVDs as well as standard CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3 CD, and JPEG/Kodak Picture CD. Now you can enjoy your digital music and photos in the comfort of your living room.

If you're using (or plan to use) a high-definition or HD-ready TV, you'll appreciate the system's progressive scanning, which is referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image. This feature creates a picture with twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD image, giving you sharper, higher resolution images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts.

The system's 50-watts-per-channel receiver delivers a total of 600 watts of home-theater power, and the five speakers are acoustically designed to match the receiver's tonal characteristics. The front left, right, and center speakers are magnetically shielded to prevent interference with your TV's image. The tuner offers 40 FM/AM presets.

Connections include two analog-audio inputs and one analog-audio output, along with two digital-audio inputs (one each coaxial and optical). Three video outputs--composite-, component-, and S-video--accommodate most TVs and monitors.

Home theater industry probably has the sharpest contrasts in prices, and unfortunately, the rule "the more you pay the more you get" does not apply at all. I know some people who spent close to a $1000 on home theater equipments and came out with nothing but headache. If you are planning to buy a home theater system, I HIGHLY recommend you doing your research.

The Magnavox (Philips) system seems to be a great choice if you want to save both time and money. I bought this system as a gift to a relative when I visited last Christmas. I installed it for him in less than 30 minutes, a very short time considering that he had a lot of wires, a lot of clutter and I had to connect several items to the system.

The sound system is simply great!! I didn't expect a system less than $200 to sound this good, I tested the system out with a concert DVD and it rocked. The speakers are compact but powerful, which I think is a great feature.

Another great feature of the system is that you can connect up to TWO external devices to enjoy the sound quality. I connected the cable box and the hifi VCR to it. Thanks to its built in ProLogic decoder, it can create surround sound effect even from older hifi tapes and regular stereo sound.

My only reservation on the system is the DVD palyer itself. While it offers a great picture, DVD navigation is a pain, it took me a while to figure out how to go backwards or do a slow. But other than that, it is good and can play DVDs, VCDs, SVCDs, MP3 discs, and many more formats.

All in all, recommended!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Thank You Magnavox and Target too
I found the Magnavox MRD210 at the closeout table in the electronic dept of our local Target. What a find!. I bought it and set it up. It easily performed as well as the Sony my son has. I have hooked it up directly to my cable box and the result is faux digital on all the movies that are shown in 5.1 digital. Put in a DVD disk and look out! It's mind blowing that these little speakers can sound so big. 300 watts is very suffient. For the money it was a steal. Can't thank Target enough for selling it to me at the ridiculous sale price.

1-0 out of 5 stars Wheres the sound?
I received the MRD-210 as a gift. First the remote was tricky to get to work. When I finally got the sound to work it was wavy while watching television. I tried a dvd, the surrounding sounds were great, loud. The actual dialogue...I could see the lips move but could barely hear what they were saying. I know, turn up the volume. At maximum I could kind of hear them, the surrounding sounds were deafening. Would I recommend this to anyone, Im taking mine back and getting a Sony.

1-0 out of 5 stars An extremely disappointing system
Our previous DVD player was a bottom-of-the-line no-name system, and, frankly, it performed better than this one. The programming on this system is very poor; for example, it is impossible to rewind through the beginning of a scene (you have to scene-skip back to the previous scene and then fast-forward to the end of it). The remote control combines the scene forward with fast-forward (and the previous scene/rewind likewise) but the buttons are often unresponsive, so we never know which behavior, if any, the system will exhibit when we press the buttons. Sounds or pieces of sounds are occasionally absent (and a switch to a different style of surround sound does not improve the matter). After six months of owning the system we are also frequently finding that sound and video are not perfectly synchronized, when the same DVD plays well on another system, and we notice a flickering/skipping of the image with some frequency that suggests poor handling of signal decompression. We are replacing our system with a different brand and strongly recommend that others look for a less error-prone model. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Bad reception even over short distance
I helped my brother-in-law install this into my nephews nursery. Even though the transmitter and the receiver are only about 10 feet apart and only going through the floor the picture has lines constantly going through it. We worked on it for over an hour, but we can't get a good clean image. We determined that a lot of it was caused by 2.4ghz wireless telephones. Which is the same frequency this camera runs off of. However it seems that many other pieces of electronic equipment also cause interference. Cell phones, radios, etc.... I would not recommend this to someone living in an apartment or townhome like my brother in law. Maybe if you didn't have to worry about interference coming in from your neighbors it would give a better picture once you shut down the interference from equipment in your own home. As for the night vision it is actually low light vision. It works great as long as there is some small light source such as a night light. In a completely black room you cannot see anything.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great quality CCTV camera
My son set the camera up in the baby's room. It functions as designed. Very easy to set-up. Good sound and visual quality. Minor concern is.. How can we order additional camera's?

1-0 out of 5 stars Hunk of junk
This system has so many problems it's just not worth it. The IR illuminator does no good unless it's a couple feet from what you're looking at. Beyond two feet, my night vision is much much better than that of this camera. When the night vision does work, it's so grainy that it's hard to tell if I'm looking at my daughter or a pillow in her bed. The picture you get flickers white a lot, when the screen is otherwise almost completely black. (My wife didn't realize we had a lightning storm going on at one point, due to the severity of the flickering and flashing.) This system interferes with multiple wireless utilities we have in the house -- our wireless LAN and phones are completely incapacitated when the carma system is active. Who did they bribe at the FCC to get this approved? Also, when we turn on our microwave, the camera system malfunctions and gives no picture. Yuck!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product
I Love this product. Works great and very clear picture. Found add on camears on e-bay. works well in low light or bright light only thing thats missing is color anyway buy this product if you don't like it return it with in 90 days with your receipt to your local Target store or the online center. But you won't need to !!

4-0 out of 5 stars A defective front S-video input. Everything else is great.
I bought this DVD burner from a local Target. The machine is made in Hungary. After a month of trials, I've found the S-video input in the front (CAM 1) does not work and an expert has confirmed it. Fortunately, it has an S-video input in the back using EXT 2. This one works, so I've decided not to return this item to the store, a complicated process. Compared with Korea, Taiwan and China that have more than 20 years of experience in making the consumer electronics, Hungary is relatively new in the field and defects in the product are therefore understandably more common. DVD+R and DVD+RW from this machine can be played in my Sony DVD player, though the Sony's manual says it plays only DVD-R and DVD-RW. My Apex player can also play it. However, it cannot be played in my 1.5-year-old Sony notebook. The image quality of this DVD burner makes all VHS VCRs obsolete.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for time shifting tv shows
This is basically a Phillips DVR-75, with slight differences. I have both. So far it has worked perfectly, as has my Phillips. I have used only DVD+RW(Memorex) blanks and have not had one bad disk. I bought the disks on sale for less than a dollar a piece. These are the only DVD+RW units I have, so I don't know about compatability with other brands of players (I suspect the blank disks have more to do with that than the recorder.), but they play each other's disks.
I kept the manual on the coffee table for a week as I learned to program the first unit, but now it's second nature. These units do take some time to finish writing when turned off and to read and begin recording when the timer comes on (about 24 seconds to record, but I think that's just a characteristic of DVD recorders). I record LOTS of TV, so I use the 6-hour recording mode and the video is better than the 6-hour speed of my VCR's. The recorder will slightly enhance the video quality of the source, so when dubbing VHS tape to DVD, it actually improves the original.
I considered the Sony, but I bought both of these for less than the cost of one Sony, and am very satisfied.

5-0 out of 5 stars Magnovox DVD Recorder
Easy to use, works well, good quality recording - what's not to like.

4-0 out of 5 stars all good
I bought this recorder over the weekend, and have had absolutely no problems with it at all. I've been able to record from TV, VCR, and camcorder quite easily. It does exactly what I want it to do, and it was a steal at $350.

1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of money
I purchased this unit in December at WalMart. Of course, the price ($ 369) was attractive. However, by now I can only record from the AV inputs after burning a little piece from the TV input, so that the 630 will get in gear, and then changing inputs to the AV and burning what I really want. Otherwise the unit will commence to burn and shut down after about 1 minute.
If I try to burn with NoName discs (that are working just fine on my Pioneer 106) it will not go at all. = Useless ... Read more

Little bulkier than a soccer ball, this 9-inch flat-screen Magnavox TV/DVD combo is the perfect road companion for times when you just can't miss an important game. The AC- or DC-powered set handles not just over-air NTSC programming, but your DVD movies, CD music (both audio CDs and recordable CDs with MP3 files), and even your digital pictures on JPEG image CDs so you can enjoy custom slideshows right on your television.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little clock radio
I got this from Walmart for only $25. The buttons are very simple and straightforward. I don't need to read the manual to operate it. Sound is not bad. Bass is weak though.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best CD Clock Radio I Found
Read the other reviews on the other clocks... lot's of complaints.

I have had this for a week and it works great and the controls are simple.

One great feature is the alarm reset. You just hit the button to turn off the alarm without having to reset it again for the next night. It also has a snooze.

Waking up to CD is great (it does play CD-Rs). A minor complain, but it always starts on the first song regardless where you left it the night before. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

The Magnavox MRV640 is a first-rate DVD player and recorder, a state-of-the-art source component that's also fixed to displace your VCR. Now you can archive your home movies and edit favorite scenes to share with loved ones: use recordable DVD+R and re-recordable DVD+RW media for compiling home-video highlights or for storing TV programs, then mail them to loved ones or, with TV programs, watch them at your convenience. The MRV640 stores up to 8 hours of audio and video at varying quality levels, from sub-VHS quality to VHS/S-VHS quality, DVD quality, and full DV quality.

Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the MRV640 stands ready to deliver the full potential of your DVDs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts.

The MRV640 also performs 3:2 pulldown detection. DVD mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24-frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; reverse 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture.

Top-of-the-line component-video inputs and outputs help minimize digital and line-scan artifacts on compatible advanced televisions, while composite- and S-video inputs/outputs bring compatibility with nearly any input source and television. One each RF coaxial video input and output simplify hookup with antennas, older VCRs, and cable boxes. The unit's front panel sports a set of inputs for your temporary AV connections.

1-0 out of 5 stars Reviews changed my mind!
I was considering buying this as a Christmas gift for one of my kids this year. I thought the dual DVD/VCR player would be convenient and take up less space, but after reading the reviews this unit has gotten, I am going to buy something elese. It sounds like Target needs to consider taking this unit off of their shelves.

1-0 out of 5 stars TOTAL PIECE OF JUNK
Do yourself a favor and avoid an unnecessary headache. The unit stopped working within 6 months and the manufacture has the audacity to request that I purchase a replacement unit that has the same defects for an additional $99.99. Fool me once shame on you, Fool me twice – not in this life time

1-0 out of 5 stars Do not buy this machine!!!
When I saw this machine in Target I thought the price was too good to be true and I was right. I guess you get what you pay for. This machine is a piece of junk. I've had for three months and it started eating my VHS tapes after only two months. At first I thought the video tape I used was not the right quality. Now after reading the other reviews on this web site I realize that it is the machine!!! This past week the DVD player has suddenly stopped working. It is too late for me to get a refund. I will just throw it in the trash. Save yourself $100 and DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE!!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy it
This machine is horrible. I could tell from my first attempt inserting a cassette as I had to fight it a little bit. There was a horendous high-pitched static noise on all tapes that were not recorded on the machine (including store-bought movies and exercise tapes). There were also constant tracking problems. The machine could not move from SP to SLP. For instance if I was watching a tape in SP that then changed to SLP, the SLP portion was played super fast with Alvin and the Chipmunks voices. I repeat, DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE. Luckily it only took me one night to figure out it was a piece of junk, so I returned it and bought a Sony DVD player. All combo DVD and VCRs seem to be getting bad reviews.

1-0 out of 5 stars MDV560VR-JUNK!!
My review is similar to the other I read on this product!! It is a piece of junk. Began eating tapes in 100 days and yes it would also cost me $99 to get a renewed replacement. Also poor (outsourced) foreign customer service when I called. Wish I had read the other review before throwing away the $119 in Dec. 2003. Do not buy this product and Target should take if off the market. ... Read more
