4-0 out of 5 stars Must have for notebooks
Highly recommended for laptops. Even though it has a "connect" button, never had to use it. Just plug and play installation. No need to download/install drivers. Used it with Win 2000 and Win XP.
Pros ::

* Solid responsive mouse
* Just like any other mouse
* Cordless so no tangled wires around you
* Optical so can be used on ( just about ) any surface
* Small USB receiver
* Cute carrying case with separate pouch for receiver
* Used it, without any issues, with my wireless internet connection
* Easy to replace batteries

Cons ::

* Might be small for a person with large hands &/or long fingers
* Just 2 button mouse
* Not aware of any way to program the "buttons" ( for "left handed" persons )
* Slightly heavier ( because of batteries ) compared to a general optical mouse. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Easily one of the most sophisticated desktop controllers ever produced, Logitech's MX700 cordless optical mouse is futuristic, functional, and ergonomically satisfying.

Designed with an eye-catching metallic silver-on-black paint job and an ultramodern rounded profile, the MX700 is both dramatic and trendy. But good looks are just part of the story. Unlike most optical mice, this unit operates without a cord. To revitalize your mouse, you'll merely pick it up and pop it into the enclosed charging station, a similarly sleek device that claims no more desktop real estate than the mouse itself and connects conveniently to any free USB, USB 2.0, or PS/2 port. Two rechargeable AA NiMH batteries are included.

In action, the MX700 is comparatively weighty yet very well-balanced. Its curvy, contoured housing conforms wonderfully to the hand and the natural positioning of all five fingers. Logitech has fitted the unit with no less than eight individual controls, each of which may be configured to execute a variety of duties. Apart from the standard dual button tasks, it can also perform continuous and line-by-line scrolls, page forward and back functions, and, in combination with its custom menu system, quick navigation between your most recently viewed documents. Furthermore, its high-powered 4.7 megapixels per second tracking speed is 50 percent more precise than many of its optical and analog rivals.

If you're still dealing with messy cords and dirty track balls, the MX700 will seem nothing short of amazing. If you're already working with a cordless optical mouse, you may want to upgrade just for the additional controls and convenient recharging station. Although its asymmetrical design won't suit lefties and its price tag may seem a bit steep, Logitech's top-of-the-line mouse will otherwise rejuvenate any desktop environment. --Gordon Goble

  • Fast, precise optical tracking
  • Easy recharging system

5-0 out of 5 stars Costly, but the best allways are!
I have been searching for a new mouse for a few weeks now. I based my decision on the user reviews here which have been very accurate, especialy when you read between the lines. The Microsoft mice were luring me in with the red GLOW bottom, but I am extremely pleased with my choice based on user reviews, and functions, of the Logitech MX-700. EIGHT function buttons! Wow! I am used to the old three button MS wheel mouse, and still find myself using the back, and forward icon in Explorer instead of the conveniently placed buttons on this fantastic mouse. It will take some getting used to, but those buttons make surfing much easier, that is when you remember to use them. I havn't found the scrolling buttons of much use, but you can remap them to numerous other functions which I will do shortly. The quick Switch button at the far rear on the top, pops up a seperate small window that has all currently loaded programs listed. Clicking any of these takes you to that application. Unlike some mice, the eight buttons on this mouse never get in the way. They are extremely well placed so hitting one on accident is not likely, yet you do not need to search them out either. Very easy to use. For those of you that have concerns about the pointer jumping around because previous experiences with wireless technology proved this to be a fact of life, have no fear! This mouse works flawlessly. I had real concerns because the last Logitech wireless mouse, as well as two other brands I used, were basicaly worthless. The pointer would jump around, and accurate control was impossible, but this is going back 6-7 years. I decided it was time to give wireless another go, and I am exceedingly happy with the performance of the MX-700. I am running Windows XP Pro, using the USB connection. I plugged the unit into the wall to charge the mouse, then loaded the Logitech software, then at the one and a half hour point the mouse was fully charged. I pluged the USB connector into the back of my computer and rebooted. everything went fine except the software didn't have the asignment of buttons screen. I went to Logitechs site, dowloaded the latest software, and now have the ability to program the buttons. Excellent, Excellent, Excellent. Now I am waiting for my Logitech Elite keyboard. You can now buy the MX-700 with the Elite Keyboard wireless as a package for the same price as the Elite duo, ..., but I still have reservations about wireless keyboards so I will stick with the wired for now. ... This is an addition to my original review. I have now had the mouse for over three months, and can unequivocally stand behind what I stated above. I have read some concerns regarding the weight of the mouse, and buttons that have become stuck. I can state for myself that the mouse is performing as it did right out of the package. No stuck buttons, no problems whatsoever. The comment by some that the mouse is too heavy may put a few potential buyers off. I am 6 ft tall, and have fairly large hands, and the mouse is absolutely perfect for me. I do not find it heavy at all, and in fact prefer the weight of this mouse over a more delicate one. I am a computer potato as opposed to a couch potato, and spend no less than 8 hours a day on the computer which has never resulted in hand cramps etc. caused by this mouse. If you have any concerns, make sure you buy from a reputable source like Amazon, and you will have no trouble exchanging the mouse should you not care for it. This is an excellent mouse, don't hesitate to try one out.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent mouse, but charge it up before installing
Two years ago, I bought my first optical mouse. I instantly loved it, except the cord frequently got in my way. Recently, I decided to purchase a cordless mouse, and felt the Logitech MX700 Cordless Optical Mouse was the way to go.

Besides being cordless, optical, and a Logitech product (they hold up really well), the included rechargable batteries and charging station/wireless base attracted me to the MX700. Features I became so accustomed to on my first optical mouse -- buttons to move ahead and back one page in my web browser, and a scroll wheel -- are included, so I lost no functionality.

The MX700 includes three other buttons that some may find handy: one each to scroll up or down a page, and one to switch between active windows on your desktop. Personally, I have little use for these.

Aesthetically, it's a sleek looking device with its black and silver matte exterior. Because of the batteries, the MX700 is slightly heavier than the average mouse, but the weight difference is negligible.

I have two minor complaints about this product. First, the mouse is longer than I'm used to, so my feel for it will need to adjust. Second, it's not ambidextrous -- southpaws are out of luck on this one for now.

Unless you have two spare AA batteries, this is not a mouse you can set up in a hurry. You'll need to fully charge the included batteries before installing the mouse. I charged my mouse overnight, so I can't say approximately how long it took.

Overall, it's a great mouse, accurate to a fault, and PC and Mac compatible. (Good news for me, since I plan to switch to Mac sometime this year.)

UPDATE, 1/12/04: I installed the mouse onto my new Mac last week, and it worked straight away without installing any drivers. To use the additional buttons, though, I had to install the drivers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Cordless Mouse EVER!!!
Had my fill of Micro$haft cordless Explorer. Took 3 seconds to respond and was absolutely useless for gaming.
THIS mouse is way different. No lag whatsoever. You will not know you are using a cordless mouse except for the fact there is the noticable absence of a cord. I have three of them if that is an endorsement. The corded version of this mouse, the MX500 is the same lightning fast mouse, but with a cord. I have 5 of these. Logitech ROCKS!

5-0 out of 5 stars What a difference!!
This mouse is a real step forward in ease of use with new technology. I was concerned about whether I would feel as comfortable with this mouse as I was with my older Logitech Mousewheel. After following the very easy installation instructions, downloading and installing the latest drivers from the Logitech web site, and using the new mouse for about two days, my concerns were certainly unfounded. This mouse is a dream to use. I highly recommend it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed
Add me to the list of unhappy users. Software wouldn't install correctly on my Toshiba Portege tablet. The Logitech software wouldn't remember settings. Unfter uninstalling and then running with standard XP drivers that problem was corrected but not all of the buttons worked. Even those that worked didn't work all on all applications.

5 hours and 4 calls to Logitech technical support couldn't correct the problem The techies tried to blame their "competitor", Microsoft, and then blamed Toshiba. What's the point of designing a mouse that won't work on an operating system that 95% of the world uses?

Very unhappy. Wouldn't buy Logitech again. I'm writng this review using my Toshiba touchpad. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Really a pleasant surprise.
I am a big fan of all things cordless, and so I thought I might try a cordless joystick. My reference point has been 5 faithful years of service from a Microsoft Sidewinder Pro.
The Logitech installed easily in WinXP. I ran the included CD, plugged the tiny USB transmitter into an open USB (2.0) port on the back of my PC, and then installed the batteries (3 AAs) into the stick itself. Synchronization took 5 seconds; I pressed the button on the front of the transmitter box and then a (any) button on the stick, and it was done. I used the software to calibrate in 2 minutes and was ready to fly.
Flying in MS FS2002 was very good with this stick. The 10 buttons on the stick are a snap to program with the software.
In my other flight sim, Fighter Ace 3.5, it wasn't as smooth a result. The kinds of ACMs required by a combat sim are necessarily more precise and I've just had a difficult time getting the right amount of damping. Maybe I'll get the hang of it as time passes, but for now my kill ratio has crashed.
The stick itself is well built and quite nicely layed out (i.e. good ergonomics). It sits comfortably on my lap, is light weight without being flimsy and its base is very easy to grasp. I have every confidence it will not break easily.
Overall, I'm encouraged. I hate clutter and the lack of one more cable on my desktop makes me happy. Of course, if I keep getting lit up, it'll be back to the Sidewinder, but for now I'm working on it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, Agile, Cordless - it's simply the best!
I purchased the 'Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2' joystick, and it is not as great as it seems. I was very interested in purchasing the 'Logitech Freedom 2.4 Cordless Joystick' because of the way it looked, and the fact that it is cordless!

There were no reviews on Amazon.com, so I was a bit uncertain about this joystick, and went with Microsoft's joystick. I came across a review on the 'Logitech Freedom 2.4 Cordless Joystick' in Maximum PC magazine. The only drawback for this joystick was the fact that it relied on AA batteries (because it is cordless), which do not provide enough juice for the force feedback effects. So if you're not into that much force feedback, then this is the joystick for you. I thought that I'd post a review for this joystick for people to decide whether or not to get this joystick over some of the other ones. Here is the review from the magazine:

'Logitech Freedom 2.4 Cordless Joystick: Sturdy, agile, cordless ' it's simply the best. Odds are that every Maximum PC reader has the same problem: thanks to all the gamepads, mice, keyboards, digital cameras, speakers, MP3 players, and networking equipment you've got hooked up, there's a rat's nest of wires behind your PC. Wireless peripherals are the obvious solution, but no hardcore gamer would trust his online reputation to a flaky wireless joystick, would he?

But what if the stick wasn't flaky? We've been using the Logitech Freedom 2.4 Cordless Joystick for about a month now, and from a reliability standpoint, it's virtually indistinguishable from a weird joystick. Its 2.4GHz wireless connection to your PC is every bit as responsive and sensitive as the cable that gets wrapped around your chair and trips you when you stand up.

Because it's wireless, the Freedom 2.4 relies on three AA batteries for power ' and they don't provide enough juice for force feedback effects, so you can cross that feature off your list (a non-issue for the many people who just don't care for force feedback). The good news is that the batteries provide a sturdy ballast for the base and prevent it from sliding around on most desks.

We were especially impressed with the three-axis stick itself. It sports six buttons, including the trigger and an eight-way hat switch. All the buttons are easily accessible, even for a gamer with unusual hands (large, small, it doesn't matter). Along with an analog throttle, there are four more buttons on the stick's base.

This is the perfect stick for the casual joystick gamer. Anyone who likes to hop into a Spitfire in 'Battlefield 1942', play an occasional round of 'Crimson Skies', or enjoy space-based slaughter in 'Independence War' will find this stick to be perfectly suitable. That said, Flight-Sim fanatics will be better served by picking up a more 'realistic' controller with more buttons and hat switches.'

Pros: A great wireless joystick with more than enough options for any arcade-style flyer.

Cons: Wireless design precludes force feedback. Not optimal for hardcore flight sims.

2-0 out of 5 stars Wears out quickly
Just as the other Logitech joysticks I've owned, the Freedom 2.4 cordless joystick lost calibration. Maybe not as quickly as the Attack 2 or the Extreme 3D Pro did, but the result is the same. I did get a couple of months out of the Freedom 2.4 before the controller stopped working properly. And I'm not even a serious gamer! Oh, and don't bother trying to contact Logitech about the quality of their products. They won't respond. I've tried 3 of their controllers because they've been all I've been able to find on the shelves here. Let the consumer beware!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Perfect joystick -- until..
..the microswitches of the POV switch loose contact (bad solder points) or the X/R-axis potentiometers wear out (after 1-6 weeks). The latter just happened to my 5th (!) Freedom 2.4 after 3 weeks (the former doesn't happen if you resolder them switches after you unpacked the stick..) I'm done w/ Logitech until they change back to non-mechanical pickups for the X/Y/R axis (like the Interceptor.) I'd recommend the Logitech WingMan Extreme Digital 3D or (if you can get your hands on one..) the Microsoft Force Feedback 2 (red skin edition). Stay away from the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick -- the pot problem is worse w/ that one !

2-0 out of 5 stars Dunno about the analog stick yet, but...
The directional pad simply sucks. I've only had it for a day, and despite the overally comfort and setup ease of this controller, the directional pad is another one of those "nearly impossible to just hold up without going diagonal as well" pads. You push up, and 95% of the time you will either be going up+right or up+left, and ditto for all other directions, down, left or right.... its the most frustrating thing in the world, ever try playing a game like Silent Hill on one of these controllers? Its a nightmare (no pun intended)

2-0 out of 5 stars What a piece of junk!
This controller doesn't stay calibrated for longer than a few seconds before going kaput, and the digital controls don't work for anything requiring holding them or rapid action.

2-0 out of 5 stars I paid $18 for this?
This is the only computer USB game controller I have seen at Wal-Mart, so, since I enjoy using them for multiplayer games, I bought two. One worked fine for a while, but now the left stick doesn't work, the other one didn't work from the second I removed it from it's packaging. The left stick won't register down, and there's no way to calibrate it. Don't buy this product!

1-0 out of 5 stars Stay away from this!
Don't buy it. If people will stop buying this gamepad then Logitech will start taking customers' feedback seriously.
This gamepad is a waste of money. The Internet is full of complains about this pad, all with same problems. We are not fools, we have been robbed, period. Yes, there maybe be 2 people that were happy with it, but there are thousands that only wasted their money. If you want to take the chance and try to be one of those 2-3 lucky people, then buy it. My suggestion is to not buy anything else from Logitech anymore. Not only they robbed me, they didn't even pay attention to my complains.
Not 2, but a THOUSAND of thumbs down!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Great controls that don't last long
When I first bought the Logitech Dual Analog game pad the controls were the best and it was recommended for EA Sports games. After awhile the game pad would connect and disconnect. Then, the left analog stick would not move to the right and I found my currently controlled player moving on it's own. I bought another one and that one broke too. Too bad the controller doesn't last long. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The only thing you need to take your gaming online!!
This product works great and takes only seconds to setup!!First, I would like to start by saying that I have been trying for months to get my PS2, Xbox, and GameCube wirelessly online.I had purchased gaming adapters from Linksys and Microsoft, but after hours spent working with tech support I was unable to get either of them working within my wireless environment.

Now given my past success with wireless game adapters, I didn't think I would have much luck with Logitech's Play Link Wireless Network Extender, but I decided to give it a shot and I was glad I did.Setup could not have been easier and with the use of two standard routers (Linksys BEFSR81 & Linksys BEFSR41) I was able to connect the Play Link Wireless Extender and all three of my game systems to a four port router (Linksys BEFSR41) enabling them for online gaming.

To sum things up, this product is the only thing you need to take your gaming online!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Works like a charm
This wireless system was super easy to set up.It connected to my existing router, and the other unit connected to my PS2.There was no software to install, just two plugs and bingo, it was done.I was impressed with the range, my computer is two floors up from my basement gameroom PS2 and it still links perfectly with no lag.

Another quality Logitech product!

4-0 out of 5 stars Works great
As the product discription states, this is extremely easy to set up. It gives a wireless distance over 100 ft, and goes through walls and such. The one thing you need to know is that this is *not a WiFi connection*, and so doesn't work with, e.g., wireless network cards. If you don't have a switch, you will need one because this does not have a pass-through to connect to your computer. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars sticking buttons after 6 months
I replaced my Microsoft Optical Mouse with the MX 310 and initially felt very happy with my decision. The Logitech has a much more solid feel with more precise control. After 6 months the right mouse button started to stick and more recently the left button would intermittently require more force to click. It has become extremely annoying having to consciously push the mouse buttons each time, almost like having to push hard on a pen top to get it to unsheath.

I wrote to Logitech with my problem and they said to bring it to a service center. I'm going to bring it back to Best Buy and see if they'll fix or replace it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good mouse & value for price
(...) I tried marble mouse (don't like the feel) & microsoft basic optical mouse. I wanted logitech for sure (also have elite keyboard - best one). After looking at size (small for my hand but works great) thought let's give it a try. It has 3 additional button apart from middle wheel & two click buttons.
It is perfect in all area. If you want bigger size go with MX 500 or MX 700 if you like to spend some more. Otherwise this is great for price. My wife can use this without any problem because of size. Buy it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for Gaming/Standard Use
This mouse is the overall the "Best" mouse you can get. I put quotes around it because i know there are people out there where they buy like these 200 dollar mice and its like totally awesome, but if your using this just for like regular computer use it is the best and cheapest one you will get. And i suggest that you dont buy L0giteCh products thats under the price of 50 dollars cause i have a wireless keyboard and mice from l0gitech and although it was "Smooth" and "Easy to operate" the ball would get dirty really fast so your mouse would studder and once in awhile the keyboard and mice would lose connection to the reciever(especially if you have a sucky comp). <br /> *********************NOTE_NOTE_NOTE********** *****************<br /> <br /> For all you gamers out there this mouse gives you awesome quality! it has everything you need from the scroller to MOUSE3.<br /> Ive tested this mouse for Counter-Strike, Starcraft, Warcraft, and SIMS. If you play one of these games and dont wanna spend a whole lot o money for a mouse this Mouse is definetly for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars slick and easy to use
I just got this mouse on Amazon and love it. It's accurate and smooth and very comfortable to use. The extra buttons are extremely convenient- I really like the "back" and "forward" buttons on the side for web surfing. For normal daily use, I suggest this optical mouse over the others by Logitech and Microsoft.

5-0 out of 5 stars Smooth/Precise
Two weeks ago, I bought my first optical mouse - a Microsoft "Optical Mouse Blue". Unfortunatley I soon learned about optical "jitter". I was unable to get smooth movements for small movement involving editing of digital photos, etc.

So I replaced it with the MX310. Yes, this is the way it should be - small movements are smooth - like my old ball mouse used to be. It seems to glide across the pad easier than the Microsoft. And I was able to keep my old comfortable mouse pad - that I didn't want to give up for a new pad designed for optical mice. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars logitech usb keyboard for ps2
This is one of the best keyboards on the market for a reasonable price. the good thing is it size. It's small enough to fit in your lap as you send messages to your friends with the control in your hand. It works great with online titles such as socom2 and resident evil outbreak. I highly recommend this product if you play on-line a lot.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome keyboard
This keyboard is perfect for any online PS2 game. I bought it for Final Fantasy XI and have been very happy with it. If you can afford it, though, I would recommend the Logitech Netplay thing that has the keyboard and controller in one unit so you don't have to switch between the keyboard and the controller.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great keyboard.
This keyboard is basically the same kind you use for school. If you like that then by all means purchase the keyboard. I use a different one for computer but this one is still pretty nice.

The only problem is that this keyboard can't be used in that many games. RPG Maker is the big one. Maybe some online games will utilize it though.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Keyboard!
First of all, this keyboard is small, yet comfortable. It is perfect for any PS2 owner. It doesn't take up tat much space and it has the same size keys as a regular keyboard. A must buy for PS2 owners. ... Read more

Stay away from this controller
Like someone else, who posted a review here, I went through 2 of these. I ordered one online and when I recieved it both the circle button and d-pad were stuck. I couldn't repair it without taking it apart and I didn't want to do that. I returned it and decided to buy another one.

I purchased a second one at Best Buy and it had the EXACT same problem. I took this one apart and fixed the problem and began to play with it. It's easy to fix once you remove all 20 screws. I suggest if you have the problem to just return it and get your money back.

The analog sticks are slick and they don't have any gripping power like the original Sony controller. My thumbs were sliding off of them during gameplay. I found myself stretching my thumbs a little bit in order to move the stick all the way forward. They probably changed the specs for people who have huge hands.

The 8 direction d-pad is horrible. It's a big circle that is terrible for simple up/down & left/right movement. It's only good if you need 360 degrees of movement. I really hate these circle d-pads because they never have good response. Nintendo has it right with their 4 direction d-pads especially the SNES one.

The vibration feature was a good idea but since the Netplay is so heavy the effects are weak. The keyboard portion of the controller is ok. It's basically a laptop sized keyboard. Seems pretty sturdy but I noticed that sometimes letters would get repeated 3-4 times. Maybe it was caused by some lag. For some reason you can detach it.

Don't buy this. The controller portion doesn't compare to the original PS2 controller and it breaks easily. The buttons get easily stuck and it's a pain to take it apart to fix. Two other people here had the same problems as me so I'm sure it's more than just a bad batch or a coincidence.

It's a shame ASCII didn't make something like this. They are great at replicating original design specs when it comes to controllers. Their GameCube keyboard/controller is awesome and works perfectly.

5-0 out of 5 stars is this for PC too?
Can this be used for PC too? How does it connect to PC?

Received Replacement/Works Great
I got a brand new replacement (...)P>It seems the keyboard was out of warranty already, even though I got it new from another retailer (whom I won't buy from again.) Perhaps there was a bad batch of these?

Anyhow, the keyboard is great, and one doesn't have to switch keyboard and controller anymore. It's contoured nicely to sit on one's lap.

My only complaint is that some of the keys could be bigger. Like the tab key, and all the punctuation keys around the return button.

Acts like a button is stuck
I too bought this to play with FFXI. At first, I tried to swap the controller with this unit. Immediately it acted like a button was stuck, selecting through all the characters in rapid succession.

I turned the unit off, to start from scratch. Well, I can't even get passed the browser screen. After I select the HDD icon, and hit the "X" button nothing happens.

I don't know if it is because I have an old PS2 or if this keyboard has a defect.

I've emailed logitech, we shall see how that goes.

1-0 out of 5 stars yuck
i bought this... twice
i thought it would be a good idea because i had just bought FFXI and didn't want to alternate back and forth between the keyboard and controller and didn't want to just use the keyboard to control my character
the controller part didn't work... twice
the buttons wouldn't even launch the PS2 viewer. i then launched the game using a regular PS2 controller and switched out controllers with this logitech one, it functioned as if a button was stuck. i tried this with one, it didn't work.
i exchanged it for the exact same thing and it happened again

the keyboard works fine for what its worth, relatively cheap too

i have nothing against logitech, i have a lot of logitech products but i hear their service is terrible. i'm thrilled with the logitech stuff that works but the stuff that doesn't work is a headache and a half

good luck with this thing ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good product, bad support
I was excited when I purchased this controller a few months ago, dishing out $80 for it. The controller is great and I have never had any problems with communication between the controller and the XBox. The feel of the controller is comfortable and everything is well placed, except for the SELECT and START buttons. Since these aren't used that often, it's ok that they are out of your reach. The main complaint that I have about this product is that the rubber grip on the analog stick will quickly deteriorate with consistent use. I noticed strange black 'shavings' on the controller, and before I knew it the grip was falling off. I've contacted Logitech on this issue, and they told me I would have to send the whole controller back to be replaced. Since this occurred in less than a month (I play a lot of games) I wasn't looking forward to sending in my controller every month to be replaced. At $80, this product would have gotten 1 star. Since the price dropped, (and perhaps they fix the rubber grip wear?) I have given this product 3 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars First Wireless! A Five star hit!!
This is the first wireless controller that I have tried. I have not noted any of the drift problems that have been mentioned. It has been used by me and by my 7 year old. We have been using it for about two weeks. We have not run into any trouble. We love it!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great...except for two joystick problems
This cordless controller is absolutely top of the line, except for the joysticks. As other reviewers have mentioned, if you play games on a regular basis, then the pad on the left joystick will wear off in a few months (the right one will probably wear off too, but I hardly ever use it). Also, Logitech put a green plastic covering just under the joystick pads, ostensibly to keep dust and dirt from getting inside the controller. That's a great idea, but the first thing to go on my joystick was the green plastic. The plastic under the left joystick broke and the little pieces that I was unable to pick out sometimes interfered with the joystick movement. This problem really isn't any big deal, however, because it didn't take long for the pieces to fall out.

I haven't noticed any problem with re-centering. I also have never experienced a lag problem.

Except for the joystick issues, which are really more of an annoyance than anything else, the Logitech cordless is a great product.

4-0 out of 5 stars 4 stars
I was extremely hesitant to buy this because of the negative reviews , in particular, the rubber grips on the analog sticks. After feeling these grips on my fingers, I can understand how they could wear out with heavy gameplay, but I usually play not more than an hour or two a day. I must say that for the price, if my grips wear out i'd be pissed as hell. The controller feels really good in my hands, it might be heavy for some but i didnt mind that at all. The only drawback I have noticed is the start and the back button are placed way out of reach, but during a game I hardly use them anyways, however the black and white button are much more reachable than in the other control, making it a lot easier to hit combos and special moves. The rubber grips on the analog sticks are very comfortable but they feel flimsy. There is no lag whatsoever , you would not be able to differentiate the difference between this controller and the standard one. Most people might find the price ($60 US or $90 Canadian) a real hindrance, but my place looks so much better without wires and chics really dig it. Overall, I'd recommend this controller to anyone, I am very satisfied so far. I would have given this 5 stars if the price were a bit better.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good, but whats up with the lag?
It is a great feel and grip, but in halo, sometimes the aimer wants to wander aimlessly.. some interfearance but i cant pinpoint it.. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Not as advertised
The provided software, required to use the camera, kept freezing on my WinXP system. I tried installing the camera on my wife's Mac G4 since it's supposed to be compatible with OSX - it would not work with the software I downloaded from Logitech (no Mac software is provided for Mac on in the included CD). I tried the alternate QuickCam software for Windows on Logitech's website (no explanation on differences between this and what is provided on the CD). Instructions on use of the camera and software are pathetic. The program help covers many models besides the one purchased and have to read through to find out how 'your' model functions. The 'hood' on the camera is flimsy and kept falling off. I was able to get an image using Windows built-in camera software - image was okay in ambient room lighting, but is poor in low light. I emailed Logitech about the software problem and answer in 2 days was to uninstall and reinstall which I had already done without success. I did not get a clear explanation of the differences between the two types of software provided other than QuickCam would not work with instand messaging services. I was not able to use this camera for any of the reasons I bought it and I returned it to Amazon.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not an Optical Zoom
Warning: This product has fixed optics. Although you can "Zoom In" from a window in Net Meeting, all it does is blow up the image. As a result, you can not get fine resolution with Zoomed-In images. I feel this is border-line misrepresentation of a product because the box indicates that the camera module itself is a zoom camera. If you don't want zoom, it's a fine camera. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Wingman Wheel is fun!
The product arrived in 2 days in good order. It is a good quality wheel with a good feel. The pedals are large enough and well spaced. The wheel comes with an installation CD and a bundled game. The biggest problem I had was during installation. At one point it asks for you to insert the Windows '98 CD into the drive. My Dell computer did not include this CD so I was stuck without a necessary driver. After some time searching the internet, I was able to get the driver and complete the installation. Once over this hurdle, everything went well. The wheel is easy to set up and it works with all the games I have tried. The 6 buttons are easy to program for shifting gears, lights, horn or whatever you wish. By the end of the day the whole family was engrossed in Need For Speed - High Stakes. The force feedback experienced with most games is amazing! You will feel bumps and turns and other cars hitting you. One thing to note is that if you have a heavy foot, the pedals may slide away from you, even on carpet. I have not used other force feedback wheels but I could definitely recommend this one an excellent option!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great, perfect, best buy
I bought it a long time ago now (almost 2 years maybe) and I have been using it on my PC, the USB connector is simply "simple" to use, I used it on some F1 and Rally games.

Even MORE! the wheel is PS2 compatible so I play GT3 with it every since I discovered it......I didn't even know it was compatible until I saw a drawing of the PS2 wheel and saw it was a Logitech brand........I just connected it and it did work! Amazing!

I agree with another review when I say that it slips a little, but I managed to use a "basement" with books and some boxes, I can put it on a very comfortable position now.

Now for the feeling....ever drove at 200mph? well, so far I have reached 85mph only and I can tell you something, the problem is not the wheel, is the seat....it is great to feel the apexes, the bumps, the ground, I cannot imagine what else can you feel with just your hands. Try to play with some real gloves, balaclava and helmet and tell me what you feel now!

I am looking forward to GP4, TOCA3 and any other racing game I can play and hopefully God will bless me with an eternal whell for the decades to come.

5-0 out of 5 stars Get it!
I ordered the Logitech Wingman Formula Force GP w/ foot pedals on a late Sunday afternoon, using the super saver free shipping. I believe Amazon reports that the free shipping takes 7 - 9 days to be delivered? Tuesday afternoon at 4pm, almost exactly 48 hours later, the wheel was at my house! It arrived in a brand new, excellent, unscathed condition.

I took the wheel out and mounted it to the lip of my computer desk using the two screw down plastic clamps provided underneath the wheel. I thought the clamps looked flimsy, and would probably break easily! However, I have been playing for days now and the wheel is completely stable and does not move nor suffer from "plastic flex"! Just make sure you do _not_ overtighten them when you screw them down! Just get them secure, they WILL hold if you do it properly. I find the wheel to be the perfect size for my desk, I can keep it attached and use my keyboard and mouse without any problems at all.

Next, I positioned the foot pedals on the floor. My desk has a bottom board, and I put the foot pedals up against it so they won't slide. They have a jack similar to a telephone, and it plugs directly into the righthand side of the wheel. The A/C adapter plugs in next to the phone-jack type port for the pedals, and is very lightweight!

Then, I started up my computer and installed the software. You put the disk in, and it comes up with a menu that lets you install it. If you already have another Logitech device, such as a Wingman joystick, then you don't need to install the software! It uses the same stuff! Once the software is installed, you simply plug the USB connector into your computer, and POOF! The system will immediately make any changes it has to, and you can start using your wheel! I would strongly suggest a calibration before use.

The wheel and pedals are very durable, and work flawlessly. The paddle shifters are easy to reach and use! I find the best game to use this wheel with is Need for Speed: Underground. They make a great combo.

It takes a slight breaking in period to get used to using a wheel. While it makes the game very realistic, remember that it is still up to the game programmers to provide good game physics for using it! I've also played with a Microsoft Force Feedback wheel at a friend's house, and I like this Logitech a lot better!

1-0 out of 5 stars Microsoft Wheel is better
This wheel is perfectly centered, until you plug in the usb. Then it goes off center by almost 45 degrees. It has a grinding feel like it needs to be oiled. It also sqeaks when turning. Driving with the wheel off center makes it harder to reach the buutons. Go Microsoft.

3-0 out of 5 stars Little too jerky
Overall a good buy for the money. Wheel is very jerky and too sensitive in Nascar racing and Indy Car racing. Turning on Steering assist in Nascar racing smooths things out but some online leagues don't allow this. Pedals are OK. Spaced very well. Brake pedal feels very sensitive. ... Read more
