4-0 out of 5 stars Decent computer speakers
I bought these speakers to improve the awful sound of my laptop computer. They are a lot more powerful than I thought. They have deep, clear bass and reasonable treble separation. I like the built-in AC adapter, the separate bass/treble and volume controls and the front mounted headphone jack. The size is fine for my needs, about 9 inches high. The downside is that there is a little distortion at very high volume, but not at normal listening levels. Construction quality seems to be OK, though this is the first Labtec product I have owned. All in all, a pretty good sounding speaker for the price. Certainly not audiophile, but for those looking to upgrade their computer sound at a reasonable price, the Spin 60 speakers are worth checking out.

4-0 out of 5 stars Decent powered speaker system
I purchased these speakers with a rebate and got them for next to nothing. They have a volume and treble/bass control on the front of the right speaker as well as a button to simulate 3d sound. The right speaker also has a mic and headphone jack. The overall sound quality is a step up from unpowered standard pc speakers but it is not on par with other pc speaker systems that cost just a little bit more. If you are looking for an inexpensive upgrade from non powered speakers and can get these at a reduced price you shouldn't be dissapointed. If you are looking for good quality sound for say MP3's then look to a Altec Lansing system or other brand with seperate sub-woofer.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor Quality
Item was shipped quickly. Worked okay in pseudo "3D surround sound" mode, but in regular stereo mode the left speaker produced nothing but static. Very disappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT SOUND AND GREAT PRICE
THE LABTEC SPEAKERS HAVE A GREAT SOUND ...LISTENING TO NYSTEDT PURCHASED FROM AMAZON.COM OF COURSE...THE SURROUND SOUND IS WORKING PERFECTLY...VOLUME HAS PLENTY AND ALSO DECENT BASS SOUND BUT SOMEWHAT LACKING ON THAT END....BUT HEY FOR THE PRICE AND THE SOUND QUALITY IT CANT BE BEAT IM GLAD I BOUGHT FROM AMAZON.COM I LOOKED IN RETAIL STORES AND COULD NOT FIND ANY THING THAT CLOSE TO THE QUALITY AND THE PRICE...

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent value and sound! What more could you want?
These speakers sound very good, with ample bass, clear mids, and good highs. I am an audiophile with Magneplanar speakers and McIntosh gear on my main, full-size stereo setup, and am quite demanding of good sound and quality. I was pleasantly surprised when I first hooked these up to my PC, and played MP3's out of them. For the money, these things deliver in spades! Truly a great value in sound!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great headphones and great microphone! Superb.
I have bought 3 of these things so far. One as a birthday present and 2 for myself (having broken one accidentally).

Whilst looking around for a multimedia headphone for use with Netmeeting and for listenting to music, I found the Labtec Axis-002 at a local electrical store in France (I can't order these through Amazon internationally) and thought what the hell?

Fantastic! They look like proper decent personal headphones and sound like them too. The microphone is also very good.

During tests with Netmeeting over our LAN the microphone worked really well as it did in a more objective test using the PC to record the sound input as a .wav file. Tests using IBM Via Voice to do voice recognition and dictation resulted in a higher accuracy than with the bundled Via Voice headset (Andrea Anti-Noise NC-61).

Obviously you can spend far more on better, much more expensive, headphones and a dedicated microphone but for pc use (video conference, gaming, music and voice recognition) these work fantastically well and are discrete enough that you don't look like an idiot at your desk! What more could you want?

Minor words of caution from one who knows:
1) Glue down the foam on the end of the microphone or you'll lose it in the office!
2) Be careful with the otherwise helpful extra long cable (2m). It has a tendency to get caught up in the wheels on office chairs, as I know only too well. Try to place the cable out of harm's way, its long enough to go around most desktop obstacles. I have asked Labtec if they plan to do a quick release for these in the same way that Sony do on their headsets so that you don't break the cable. Labtec said they'll think about it. Chuh right.

5-0 out of 5 stars Three key factors. Comfort, Design, Performance
I have tried all kinds of headphones, from the painful to rather annoying Earbuds(tm) to normal headphones, and behind the ear headphones (my favorite). This is not just an average run of the mill internet telephony headphone with bad sound to make up for in cost, the sound performance is actually rather good. The design is worth mention as it doesnt make you uneasy about having headphones, theres a trigger for turning off and on the microphone, lowering and highering the volume, and a nice 8 foot long coord for a bit more mobility. Lets not forget its main feature, the microphone, I found the microphone to have almost crystal clear sound (if there is such a thing), so i had to test it on Dialpad(tm). The performance was excellent but that was due to my high speed cable connection. The sound clarity, according to my friend, was of normal quality you would expect on a average call. Overall, this is one of the rare products I actually give a 5 star on, if you need a good performance headphone + microphone, and great design with a cool look, buy the Labtec Axis-002 NOW!

4-0 out of 5 stars A Recommended Buy
After shopping around for about 4 days, I finally decided on this headset. Purchased for $... delivered to my door, I figured at that price I wouldn't be too upset if I weren't completely satisfied. My only goal for them was voice-over-internet, primarily for gaming.
Here are my thoughts after a couple weeks of use: For the money, a great purchase. The slimmer, behind the neck design is nice. They've been comfortable to wear for up to 8 hours of use. The microphone has provided very good pick up and clarity without transmitting a lot of background noise; and the headphones provide very nice clarity for both natural and comp-gen vocals with the volume levels, from min to max, seeming to span just the right range for my tastes.
If you're looking for great music reproduction, these aren't it. Again, the vocals are very clear, but the music lacks the richness and depth that my external speakers provide. In short, it's a bit flat. But, with a bit of tweaking with an equalizer, I'm perfectly content to listen to mp3's on these while I play.
The microphone swivel has a very solid feel to it, and stays exactly here you put it. The cord has plenty of length to it, but I don't think it would take a lot of excessive abuse before it would break at it's connection point to the earphones. Recommend puting a dab of glue on the foam mic cover to keep it in place.
I didn't give these 5 stars because they didn't WOW! me; but for the price, a highly recommended buy.

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy these, and avoid Labtec headsets period.
My first Labtec headset, purchased last summer, were normal-style headphones with swiveling speakers and a boom mic. They worked vey nicely...for a while. Eventually, the sound went out in the right ear. Soon after, the left ear went out too, and the microphone stopped working. They were useless. I wrapped my headphone cord up when not in use, and I think this is what caused it. Shows you how well-made Labtec headsets are.

I saw this headset in a store circular, mislabeled as a Logitech product. I was sorely disappointed to find out they were not (I had the product purchased by someone else, as I was unable to get to the store in question at the time.) They worked very well at first, and I was quite happy. Within two days, I noticed that the right earpiece would lose and gain volume, sometimes completely ceasing to function. This continues to this day, and it is difficult to adjust the volume correctly (touching the on-cord volume knob is a definite no-no, as this will ruin the sound quality in both speakers.) Also, it should be noted that the headband does not adjust, so if you're like me and would like to lie back and listen to some music, you'll find that the headband prevents such relaxation.

Long story short: Avoid this headset, avoid all Labtec headsets. Spend the extra [money] and get a headset of higher quality, like a Sony (which is what I plan to do in a few months when these die like I know they will.)

1-0 out of 5 stars These things are not that great.
I bought these things and returned them the next day. The sound quality although decent, is not as good as Labtec Axis-502 headphones, which are also half the price. My biggest problem with these things was how uncomfortable they were. the over the ears part is not padded and has a groove where the line that goes to the other side is located. This groove causes discomfort almost imediately. I suggest looking into other headsets. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Alright.
I got these for one use...Gaming. When I got them, they were great! The sound was clear, consistant, and the microphone was amazingly CLEAR! The only gruge I have against them is that it broke about a month after I purchased them. Other than that, I'd recommend them to anyone with intrests in gaming or any kind of entertainment.

2-0 out of 5 stars Works great, when it does work
When I needed a headset, I got this one for the Labtec name and the price. After 2 WEEKS the headphones stopped working, and now the microphone is dead. My first email to Labtec went unanswered, hopefully my latest one will be answered. Nonetheless, when the headset worked, it had great audio quality, and didn't make my ears sore.

2-0 out of 5 stars Labtec, this microphone needs to go back to the lab
I purchased this microphone because I wanted a hands-free microphone to use with Yahoo Messenger. Since this headset is one of the cheapest on the market, I thought I would give it a try. I like that you can easily adjust the microphone closer to your mouth for better voice recognition. It also picks up your voice as good as you would want for talking with another person. However, trying to use the headphones and microphone at the same time did not work for me. The microphone worked great, but it was very difficult to hear the other person in the headphones. I tried adjusting the volume on my system (I use Windows XP), but no luck.

I think the worst complaint I have with this headset is that it isn't one that will last a good amount of time. I used this headset for about a year when the microphone died on me. I think it may have had something to do with the fact that I was wrapping the cord, but still! I also gave the same headset to my boyfriend, and the same happened to him. His microphone just stopped working.

Okay, so I did buy another one of these headsets, but in the same day the piece that holds the microphone broke when I tried to adjust it. So now I have to tape it in place to talk with it. This was enough of a sign to tell me that I will never buy another headset from Labtec!

5-0 out of 5 stars a good pruduct
I bought it from Walmart, only 16 bucks, but I really got a surprise.good vioce(according to this low price) and good microphone.glad to have it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent voice quality, don't spend more.
I can't imagine what more you would want from a headset. Voice is crystal clear, loud, and without background noise with these. We've tried sets that are literally ten times the price and the quality was in no way better. The headphone sound is adequate, there is a handy mic mute button on the cord, plus a volume control. But the main thing is how good the recorded voice is, and that is spectacular. We used these for professional multimedia creation, recorded and live streaming audio. And for the price, it's amazing. I don't know about USB sets or what advantages they might have. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars think hard
Mine was falling apart within a day. Also, the band is poorly shaped. I can't imagine it fitting anyone. The long cord is good but make sure you need one. Mine gets tangled because it is too long for what i need

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice cheap headphones.
I bought these very cheaply at a discount store, for use with my laptop, because earbuds hurt my ears after a while. These headphones are collapsible, which is a plus, but the plastic seems flimsy, which is a minus. I don't think they'd survive being sat on by accident.

The sound is surprisingly good, even on bass! I've only had these for 2 weeks, so I can't attest to longevity. I was going to give 3 stars, but added one more because of the price. For < $10, I can't ask for more.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent portable speakers
Great value. Six-foot cord was what I was looking for, so it connects to the computer sound card at the rear, but I can still dance. Folding frame makes for excellent portability. Sound: great! Excellent clarity, bass isn't disappointing. You don't lose anything with this headphone set.

3-0 out of 5 stars stopped working
Three weeks after they arrived, the left side stopped working. Sound was Ok, fit was good but cannot recommend.

4-0 out of 5 stars OK Earphones
The Labtech are OK for the price. Better sounding base than the cheap ones you get when you purchase a CD player. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars poor sound quality
this headset was a waste of money, maybe it just had problems with my computer but the sound output was very low but people told me they could hear me over the mic. just fine. I usually wore a regular headset for sound or sent the sound to my speakers and just used the microphone part, after about a month I ended up breaking it so the mic is no longer attached to the headset, now in the market for a good one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Headset
I use Skype to talk not only to my colleagues all over the United States and also to my parents in Japan. I like this USB headset so much that I am ordering it again. Not because it's broken, but because I want one for my home use.

What's good about this headset is that it goes into USB interface instead of speaker interface. If you have a speaker already, you'd have to unplug it and hook the headset in if the headset uses normal speaker interface. But for USB, that's not a problem. Even after using long hours, your ears won't hurt. Stereo one covers your ears too hard that my colleagues complain that their ears hurt.

So far, it never went bad or anything. The quality of the product is pretty good. Now that Skype is offering this feature that allows you to call all over the world with a minimal fee, I am getting one for my home!

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice unit, but falls short.
Works great for PC gaming, but PS2 use is limited. I had no problems using this unit with SOCOM, & SOCOM 2. But it does not work with Champions of Norrath. Now I'll have to buy Sony's headset afterall.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good when it works
Like the other peson said in socom this mic had peoples telling me I sounded very far away when I damm near had the mic in my mouth, Then the the mic went out so now its a basic headphones for the pc . I should have just waited for the logitech 1 . I would however recommend this for pc online gameing because the sound is very crystal clear

5-0 out of 5 stars Works for SOCOM
I had no problems with it working for SOCOM. The volume button is actually for your voice and not for the headset. I was told that I was very quiet, but when I turned up the volume, it worked like a charm. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Not bad.....
I LOVE these headphones, for me the sound Quality was great and they got pretty loud w/out gettings distortions, and the pain, i guess is based on the individual.....
My ears only hurt after wearing them for more than 1-2 hours straight......
i've had them for about 3-5 years(cant remember) and the Right headphone is now going bad.....(well, i also used them ALOT..)
well, for the $5 i spent on them, they were awesome and am very glad that they still actually have them.....

4-0 out of 5 stars Great sound, very uncomfertable
I got these headphones about 2 weeks ago while on vacation at a mall. The sound quality is great!! But the lil strap that hangs off ypur ears begins to hurt after about 10-20 min. If u take them off then rub your ears the begin 2 feel beter but i would like 2 have some headphones that you don't have to do that!! Hence the price for the quality. Other thn that the sound is great! I suggest getting the SONY streetstyle headphones opposed 2 these!

1-0 out of 5 stars Like pain?
I can't even use these headphones for more than 5 minutes without experiencing horrendous pain. I can't really comment on the sound quality, because I can't concentrate at all on music when I have these things on. I wish I'd spent my money on something else. =/

5-0 out of 5 stars I own at least 6!
I can't stand headphones that go over your head, wrecks the hairdo, don't ya know. Whenever I find a product I like and it is time to replace it...the manufacturer has, 99% of the time, stopped making it. When I found these headphones I immediately ordered 10 sets. I since have given away 4 to very good friends that were envious of them. Raytheon is collecting items for our troops serving in Iraq and recovering in hospitals in Germany. I love these headphones and am taking the risk I can replenish my stash and have donated the 6 sets. I think they will enjoy them as much as I have and they sure deserve it, and more.

4-0 out of 5 stars These DO NOT hurt
NO PAIN!!! These aren't painful like everyone apparently thinks. I found them much more comfortable than my other headphones (Jensen behind-the-head phones). The only problem is they have a tendacy to stick far out of the ear, resulting in something that makes you look like on of the Jetsons or something like that. They are not ANYTHING like what the other reviewers think. The sound quality is awesome, they are NOT painful, and are compact because nothing attatches each phone to the other. Recommended to music lovers who want compact headphones. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Inexpensive, exelent mic
I got mine for $10. It's a very good mic. It looks nice, it's light, it's doesn't fall down, it's adjustable and it stays where you adjust it, and it records good. I recomend this mic to anyone who just wants a simple, cheap microphone for their computer.

Anyone who thinks that it doesn't record good or doesn't work is wrong. It's their fault it doesn't work. Most microphones have the same performance, so cost and other small variables are what counts.

3-0 out of 5 stars pretty good
This microphone is pretty good, and if your budget is tight, i would suggest it. It does record to an extent on MusicMatch Jukebox or however it is spelled, and i think it would on any other application that can record sounds. The recordings are not the best, but it does in fact work.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not bad for the money
If you are just looking for an inexpensive mic for your PC, then this will do. I have had mine for a while now and use it for making phone calls and recordind wav. files. I would not recomend this if you are going to rely on it for communicating a lot or making good recordings. You can't beat it for the price though.

1-0 out of 5 stars Does not work
I could not get this microphone to work on my computer. The sound came out of the speakers but no sound recording utility would recognize the fact that the microphone was there. Tech support would do nothing for me and I found myself with a usless microphone. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Crystal Clear Sound !
Well I am not a Audio Engineer but my own ears are my best judge.
I was ready to shell out $100 for a decent head phones and I tried Maxell,Aiwa,Panasonic,Sony(Mdr V150,V300) and Sennheiser and also the Titanium diaphragm one of Radio shack. I also tried AKG K320 and also a couple from Beyerdynamics. But Labtec Elite 840 is simply great not only in quality ..but also in price. However Sennheiser one for $99 and Akg was also good. But this headphone is truly awesome for a lesser price. Only bad news is its NOT in production as per the customer service person from Labtec. I was the lucky one to get the last one from Amazon ! .

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Headphones
This pair of headphones are the best I have ever used. The sound quality is amazing and the bass does not distort at high volumes.

These feature self adjusting earcups and headstrap, so there is no adjusting to do. These are very comforatable and i have worn them for hours together without discomfort.

Overall, i think this is a very good purchase!

Music i've heard for review : Pink Floyd, Metallica among others
Other headphones tried: Sony, Labtec 835

5-0 out of 5 stars INCREDIBLE
There is very little I have to say about these headphones, because they're SO good, it is really impossible to describe them adequetly. The comfort of these headphones is UNSURPASSED, period, large head, small head, glasses/no glasses, big or little ears, THESE THINGS FIT PERFECT. You'll forget you're even wearing them. They have a velvety soft material for the ear cups, you will feel more comfortable wearing them than you do not wearing headphones. NO JOKE. MOST IMPORTANT, the sound quality is INCREDIBLE, and I'm an audiophile, I love music, and I play many games. It is essential for me to hear all the highs, lows, bass, etc. As well, when playing games, I need to feel as though I am IN THE ENVIRONMENT. THESE HEADPHONES DO ALL OF THIS AND MORE. Plus, they have a long 10ft cord from one ear, and they block out ALL NOISE. I was looking for a cheap pair of earphones, and now I have these Labtec 840's, and I use them more than BOTH my Sennehesier or Sony pairs. THE BEST HEADPHONES OUT THERE, and if you're looking for something cheap, THIS IS IT. You will never regret these headphones. PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND BUY THEM!!! Thanks. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Good Speakers
These speakers are excellent! I had bought them on clearance, but if I had known, I would have bought them for full price and more. The sound coming from these tiny speakers is huge. I'm a bass player, and instead of using my amp, I now actually direct input into my computer, and run my bass on these speakers for practices! That subwoofer is amazing and powerful. My only problem is that I haven't found a secure place for it, so while I'm playing or listening to music, it scoots across the slightly uneven floors in our old house. However, it sounds awesome, even if I do have to catch it once in a while. Also, the volume control and headphone jacks are easy to use, but I wish the power button was on the right satellite also. The volume control isn't very gradual though, so I had to be careful moving it more than a quarter inch or so before it's at half volume. I accidentally dropped these a few times, ok well, the cats fought the cords and tried to kill the satellites, but everything works perfectly. What else could you ask for besides great sound, great price, and excellent build products? If you want better/need new speakers for anything that requires a standard headphone jack (you can plug these into cd walkmans, small televisions, mp3 players, anything like that) then you should definitely try to get this set of speakers.

3-0 out of 5 stars Sporadic
These speakers give a good bang for the buck. Very balanced sound, and nice power. However, the connection on the right speaker is a bit loose, and the right speaker goes out sporadically. It takes a little jiggling to fix the problem, but can be very annoying.

5-0 out of 5 stars A lot of sound for the money
These speakers have fantastic sound for the price. After tiring of the tin-like, distorted sound of the standard speakers that came with my computer, I decided to invest in some different speakers. Though I've only had these for a day, they are already proving that they're worth the money.

The setup is easy for these speakers. The 3 wires are color-coded, and an AC adapter is included. Granted, it's easy to get all those long cords tangled, but what do you expect for speakers?

The speakers have incredible bass quality, and the subwoofer really adds to this. I have the subwoofer on a shelf close to the floor next to my computer, and it really works great! All of my music has a nice rounded bass sound now. Just as a test, I tried cranking these speakers to the maximum volume, and there was little, if any, distortion.

These speakers really pack a punch for the size, and for the price, how can you go wrong?

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredibly clear sound without being too tinny
And the price can't be beat. I love these speakers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Impressive
Don't be confused with the speaker size, these tiny satellite speakers have an impressive ouptut capacity and quality; the subwoofer, if placed correctly, will give a fantastic overall bass boost.

The speaker system includes an AC adapter to operate. The cables are color coded for easy installation. Volume can be quickly adjusted through the right satellite speaker. This speaker also has a very convenient headphone jack for private listening.
With so many cables, the installation seemed complex but it sure wasn't; only one cable (the green one) goes to the sound card's speaker output (or line level output), the other two cables are connected to the subwoofer; plug the AC adapter, place the speakers as recommended in the Labtec manual and you are done.

DVD movies sound great, so do games and digital music. I am very impressed and satisfied with this speaker system. In my opinion you can buy it with confidence. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Neat features -- snug fit
I was looking for a decent headset for my computer with the primary purpose being Internet telephony. I wanted something inexpensive, functional and comfortable (I settled for two out of three). I boiled it down to the Plantronics SR1 and this model. I chose this model because of the volume and mic control on the cord of the device. I don't have any complaints about the mic quality, but the sound output crackles slightly when listening at higher volumes (but what do you expect for $...?). Overall it works quite well and my only complaint is that the headset is too tight (even for my smaller head), so I had to strech it out a bit. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars not pleased
I have to be so near to this mike for it to broadcast over my computer's speakers that my breathing is picked up as well as my voice.

2-0 out of 5 stars Ok Sound quality, poor life
This mic lasted me only 10 months and I had bought it for $[a good price]. The sound quality is ok and you need to tune it through your audio wizard or sound can be very distorted. As someone else mentioned it was not a very good mic to use with speech recognition software but ok for conversations. Howerver, it just stopped working one day.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good for voice/net telephony, bad for serious stuff
This thing sounds ok as a voice recording mic and for transmitting speech over the net to other humans, but for things like speech recognition and anything where the computer itself may have to understand you, this thing is aweful. It does not do a good job at all of filtering out background noise. If you want a good speech recognition mic, go find yourself a decent headset that specializes in speech.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good sound quality, provided you have good mic-input
This is a decent quality microphone with above average sound. It sounded horrible at first, but it was due to the poor microphone input on the motherboard. After I tried an external sound blaster Extigy, the sound quality improved a lot.

Background noise level is about average. I do have to crank up the mic input level to maximum on the extigy, and on windows volume control to get decent sound level.

If you are using the build-in microphone input on your motherboard or a cheap sound card, the quality may suffer (ie, very low voice level, not clear at all).

4-0 out of 5 stars Decent Quality
This microphone is of decent quality. You can have it stand on your computer desk, or you can attach it to your monitor. The microphone is adjustable. You can tilt it up to 90 degrees. I like to use it for voicemail. The sound quality is decent. At first you might think the quality is lower, but after you practice using it, the microphone sounds great. This microphone is great, and so is the price. ... Read more
