5-0 out of 5 stars The best of their class, by far.
The Koss KTX-Pro, which is the same exact pair of headphones which goes under the name Pro-35 at RadioShack, are better than anything else on the market in their price range, in terms of sound quality. The only thing I've ever griped about, was that after extended use at high volume levels, my ears DID start to hurt just a little, and required a break. I think it somehow had to do with the shape and density of the metal adjustable outer band. Perhaps it was just a bit gripping, but still worth enduring, none the less. But that problem has now been solved. I simply bended them into shape, until they started to fit more comfortably. It's kind of like a new deck of playing cards - at first, they're a little TOO crisp and new, until after you've spent enough time "breaking them in," so they'll feel smoother when you shuffle. Or, if you know anything about string instruments, such as the guitar or violin, then you know the same thing also applies to every fresh new pair of strings.

And with the warranty I purchased with these headphones, I can break them and go right down the street to RadioShack, and replace them with a fresh new pair, as often as I want for free, until nearly 2006! And I love the fact that while my portable MD is snuggly in my inside coat pocket, with my coat zipped up, I can still run the cord down the front outside of the coat, then up into my pocket (thanks to the cord being long enough for this procedure), thus giving me easy access to the in-line volume slider. Even the volume slider itself is noteworthy, in the way the max volume level is at the bottom, while volume-down is at the top position of the slider. At first, one might think this is upside-down, but somehow it just feels convenient and natural after a while.

5-0 out of 5 stars KTXPro Headphones Are An Excellent Value
I recently purchased a Sony portable CD player and was surprised how bad the headphones were that came with the player. Most CD portables are fairly low powered and don't have the power output required to drive many of the headphones available on the market to high volume levels and still acheive good quality sound. The result is usually muddy and maybe even slightly distorted, especially if the music being listened to contains heavy bass. Not with the KTXPro phones. I was impressed with the clarity and volume levels that they can produce with just a portable CD player that runs on two AA batteries. The bass response of these phones is quite good, and I have found that only a slight bass boost or maybe none at all yields pretty balanced sound. They are probably the best twenty dollar headphones I have ever heard.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent sound quality!
I'm not an audiophile, but this pair of headphones deliver clear, crisp trebles and mids and strong, well-defined bass. The volume control is very convenient, especially when I do not have convenient access to the volume control say in the school computer labs. The head band is a tad too tight though (though it grips nicely), and after one year of use, the plastic around the band broke. Nevertheless I will still buy another from Koss again. They make great sound!

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW!!
The title of this review says it all. I still can't believe the massively great sound that this little baby puts out. I was originally looking for a nice set of headphones for my MP3 player, but now, they've become my standard set for my home theatre. My friend had recommended these to me about a week before I bought them, and man was he right about one thing; GREAT BASS! These phones really show me how far technology has come these days. It really DOES sound like 2 little 1" subs next to your ears. Not only is the bass amazing, but every little treb and mid is easily recognizable with amazing clarity. I plan to use these as long they'll still function, and then I'll just buy another pair. Great job Koss!

4-0 out of 5 stars Amazing bass and quality for the price
I already had 4 pairs of these...
this headphone is the cheapest of PortaPro family, and the sound is excellent, clean, deep bass; high sensitivity, even I can get satisfactory sound level from single-battery walkman
the reason why I give 4 stars is, the cable is easily broken, and the length is 1.5m, sometimes the cable tangle my feet when I am down on knee, and when I stand up when I don't undo the cable, the cable breaks, and I have repair myself, after that, I lost volume control and the length is reduced to 1m
there's new version comes out, which is KTX-PRO1, which uses plastic headband instead
if you prefer a standard headphone for about 20 bucks, this one is a must buy, you shall not regret for the sound ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Frightfully bad
...I had a pair that I bought out of desperation(a quick fix) once and consider them to be the worst of the many different ear buds I've gone through throughout the years. Tinny, with very little range or bass I refused to use them after one time. The absolute worst. If you ever think about buying these elsewhere don't bother. They are ...not worth the material they are made of. They are reallly bad. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than 900 Mhz
The Koss Cordless headphones are clear and don't have the hissing and spitting that the 900 Mhz headphones I had tried previously. For me the clear sound of the Koss infrared clearly outweighed the limitation of losing sound when out of the room of the transmitter.

4-0 out of 5 stars Many misunderstand
I read the previous review of this product and felt compelled to respond. I am a stereophone guru so I know too much about headphones. What most consumers fail to understand about cordless headphones is the difference between a RF cordless and an IR cordless.

The radio frequency (RF) cordless allows you to walk around...like your telephone. The infra-red (IR) cordless is like a remote control...you must remain in direct line with the transmitter to get the full effect.

When an IR headphone, like the HB500, is used correctly, it is a GREAT headphone.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Bother
I don't know whether I just got a faulty pair (they are going back!) but what is the point of cordless headphones that have a very limited range and constantly cut out when you move? ... Read more

Koss's KTX-Pro portable headphones affordably deliver intimate stereosound with a frequency response rated at 15 to 25,000 Hz. Their titanium-layereddiaphragm fosters accurate sound reproduction while open-ear, foam-layeredearpieces offer less colored sound than a closed-ear design. This format, whileideal for home use, make these headphones less than optimal performers when usedportably, as outside sounds tend to creep in more easily (and your music can beheard by others!).

Amazon.com Product Description

The Koss R100s, designed for either home or professional use, are made with audiophile-grade components designed to deepen the bass and brighten the treble. Apparently, Koss' design efforts paid off: the 'phones are rated for an astonishingly wide frequency range of 16 to 22,000 Hz--impressive given how tough it is for headphones to reproduce meaningful deep bass.

The closed ear cups isolate outside noise while soft, circumaural ear cushions help retain low-end frequencies. Oxygen-free-copper voice coils lower density and enhance signal transmission. The extrawide, adjustable headband is padded with vinyl for comfort during long periods of use.

Koss provides a lifetime warranty on parts and labor. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Nice sound, but fragile
I bought a pair of these a few months ago, and was quite happy with the quality of sound and the comfort of the headphones.

However, after about three months of use, one of the plastic pieces that connects the ear cup to the headband snapped.Looking at the other side revealed that it was developing a crack in the same place.I could probably get the headphones fixed under warranty, but the cost of shipping to do so would be about half of the value of the headphones themselves.Since it's obviously a design problem -- far too much stress is placed on those flimsy plastic pieces -- I hate to send it back when it seems likely that they'll just break again in another three months.I'll probably find some other set that isn't as likely to fall apart.

It's certainly a shame, because reinforcing that piece probably would only cost them an extra few cents, and would make the product much more durable.

1-0 out of 5 stars Good headpones, but poor customer service from Koss
The headphones sound fine and are comfortable, but the Phase 2 cord that came with mine was shorted out, so the sound only came out one ear.I called Koss customer service, and they told me it could be repaired under the lifetime warranty. They instructed me to send the Phase 2 cord in along with $5 for handling expenses.I also had to pay $3 to ship it to Koss. Two weeks later, I received what I thought was a repaired cord. After testing it I found out that it still had the same problem and there was no note explaining why it hadn't been fixed. When I called Koss and told them what had happened, the lady on the phone tried to tell me that there wasn't a lifetime warranty on these headphones.I told her that I was holding the box and it said that there is a lifetime warranty. At this point she started to get angry with me and in a demeaning tone (as if I were stupid) tells me that I should have sent in the whole headphone set.How was I supposed to know that? The instructions on the box did not say that I had to send everything in.So I spent $8 to have nothing repaired and there's not a chance for refund -- some lifetime warranty.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poorly Made
I have always held a high degree for KOSS equipment, but the earphones that I received (advertised as PRO) are horrible. For one the sound is extremely muddy and almost void of any decent high frequency. Two it seems in this day and age of The Internet and Space Shuttles that man still can't make a pair of headphones that don't short out at the plug! I do have to admit that I gave these headphones a 1 star review, for comfort and they are pretty. ;-P

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for the price!
I had Koss R10, they were pretty good but plasic parts are got brokenfast. Since Koss have lifetime warranty I send them back. Now I boughtR100's and they are awsome! Sound is great. Bass is deep and clear. Goodbuy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good sound and value
First let me say that they are a good value at the current price of about$40.I'm not sure they are worth too much more. That said, I am veryhappy with the sound quality of these headphones. The one surprise I hadwas that I could hear artifacts in my MP3s while using these.Theartifacts were especially noticeable if I enabled their "surroundsound" feature. However, if you disable the surround sound orre-encode your MP3s at a very high bit rate (256 kbps) you should be fine. Not surprisingly, there are no sound quality issues while listening toCDs.

The closed ear design and non-breathable padding make your earssweat a bit, but it isn't too much of a hassle.

Finally (others havementioned this too), the documentation is terrible. The only informationyou get is printed on the back of a card included in the package. It tellsyou how to enable the surround sound feature, but that is it.

Even withthese downsides I still think these are a great value for $40. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for how I use them!
After becoming addicted to digital music -- and the custom playlists dispensed from my PC, PDA and MP3 player -- I wanted a way to extend this listening enjoyment to my hotel room while traveling for business (without having to use headphones). These Koss speakers have satisfied my needs quite nicely.

The Koss speakers (measuring about 3.5" wide, 4.5" tall, and 3" deep) fit easily into my suitcase. They are light and durable with hard plastic faces (not foam). And their "passive" design means that there are no batteries or AC cords to worry about (their only power being the signal from my audio device's output jack).

The sound quality isn't great. (The bass notes sound much like a guy beating his hand on a cardboard box, and the highs sound like they are emanating from down a long hallway.) But the fidelity is vastly superior to what I get from my laptop's speakers.

I can now enjoy listening to my custom playlists while traveling -- without having to endure the piped-in music available on my hotel room's cable TV or the tinny bedside clock radio. I use the Koss speakers mainly while reading the paper in the morning, or while checking my e-mails at night.

(I tried using the Koss units around my home, but their sound was vastly inferior to the Labtec Spin 50 and 60 speakers that I also have -- which are larger, heavier, and require a separate AC cord plug-in.)

For the convenience of enjoying digital music while traveling -- without a headset -- the Koss portable speakers perform wonderfully. (And for the price -- you can't beat 'em!)

2-0 out of 5 stars i10 stereo phone review
The Koss, I10 stereo phone is an inexpensive product you can purchase. However, the item is made out of plastic, which could break easily and has a poor fitting comfort ability. The fit is not too comfortable because I10 does not fit the shape of your head too well (at least it doesn¡¯t fit mine too well). The product comes with 0.25-inch and 0.125-inch jacks for your Home-Stereo and also for your CD/Cassette. The 0.25-in. jack fits into the top of 0.125-in jack with easy changing capability.
