5-0 out of 5 stars Comfort
For the price, this is a marvel of comfort: soft, smooth padding around the ears and a broad, flexible headband. The wire too is flexible and long. The sound is clear and the sound isolation excellent. I'm no audiophile - simply a happy customer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
These are excellent headphones. It has a long cord so you can actually have room between you and you're CD Player. And the headphones are huge so you don't have these little cover things and you can barely hear out of them. Excellent 100%

4-0 out of 5 stars decent quality at a decent price
If you're looking for some good quality headphones but don't want to spend a lot on top-of-the-line quality, the Koss UR15C headphones are definitely a good choice. The sound is far clearer and the bass is much deeper than in any other economy-priced headphones I've tried... overall they're comparable to other headphones in around the $40 price mark.

The adjustable size headset has plenty of sizes to choose from and importantly, it doesn't slip from one size to the next when you're wearing them. The ear covers are large and you can fit your whole ear inside the headphone (I hate when it sits on your ear, instead of covering it). My only gripe is the cheap stretchy covering on the headphone padding... in any other headphones I've owned, that stuff wears away quickly and starts to tear and fall off... not a huge problem but a mild annoyance. But for $20, you can't expect the highest quality for everything here.

Overall, I give these Koss headphones a 4 out of 5 rating. Good middle-of-the-road choice. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Comfortable, but sound quality is too hollow.
Bottom line - only buy these if you have small ears. It has a good frequency range and can hit some nice bass notes (I listen to film soundtracks which have a wide variety of sounds, with some pretty deep bass sometimes).

However, the richness of the sound isn't there. To reproduce what you'll hear with these headphones, just take a decent pair of headphones or even just a phone receiver and hold them/it just a half-inch away from your ears. You can still hear the sound and it should still sound "good" (no fuzziness in the sound at all), but it's just hollow-sounding.

I've noticed that if I press the ear pieces against my ears firmly, I can hear the sound quality that I'm looking for, but that's just not acceptable for me to have to do that. So either I have too-large ears or these earpieces are just too padded and are keeping my ears a little too far away from the audio. Who knows? I'm debating whether to take these back or not - like I said, the sound quality is there, but it's just too far away. I'm guessing that someone with smaller ears would have an easier time getting their ears closer to the audio, and thus, get the rich sound quality that these headphones offer.

After trying out the Aiwa headphones, too, I think I will just buy another pair of my previous Jensen JF25 headphones. The only trouble I had with them was I accidentally broke one of the plastic pieces holding the earpiece in place. Great sound quality for $15 with those Jensen headphones, though. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

A complete audio and video system at this price must be some kind of trick, right? But the KS4102, despite a few quirks and deficiencies, is the real deal: its five speakers, subwoofer, and 520-watt receiver/amplifier deliver a powerful theater experience for a fraction of the cost of a system from a more well-known brand.

Setup is a fairly painless process, even for technophobes, thanks to the clear graphic instructions and color-coded wires. If you have never had this many speakers at your disposal before, here's how it works: The two front speakers go on either side of your television, the center speaker goes (duh) in the center (on the top of the TV is the ideal spot), while the surround-sound speakers are best placed behind the viewer, so you can get the full aural effect of, say, Predator moving from one side of the room to the other. The formidable subwoofer, like the proverbial 800-pound gorilla, can go anywhere you want, though we got the best results by placing it on the floor near the television. Our only complaint about the setup process is that some of the supplied stereo cords are too short.

The sound can be adjusted by choosing one of various presets--"Jazz," "Rock," etc.--which is obviously not as good as being able to adjust the levels manually, but we found that the presets work surprisingly well. The Jazz setting gave added punch to the horns on a Ray Charles record, and the Rock mode properly brings out the bright thwack of snare drums. The DVD picture quality is also excellent, thanks to the progressive-scan (480p) compatibility.

A flaw in the system is the nonresponsiveness of the receiver. It takes a good five seconds after inserting a disc for anything to happen at all--and if all you want to do is listen to the radio, you have to wait until the system figures out that there was no disc inserted. Also, the sound goes annoyingly silent for a moment whenever you switch between modes. Overall, though, the KS4102 delivers admirable quality at a remarkable price. --David Stoesz

5-0 out of 5 stars What do you want for $3.00
They are great Headphones for $3.00 stop whining, what do you expect fro $3.00, none of this style of headphone, at least in my opinion is comfortable, and none of this style of headphone is going to block the noise, you need a haedphone that covers your entire ear to block noise. If you need a cheap pair of earbuds buy these, they have a LIFETIME Warranty from the manufacturer, find another headphone that has a LIFETIME Warranty. Especially on a $3.00 pair of headphones.

1-0 out of 5 stars Pure Junk
Just like everyone else, they did not fit well in my ears and continually fell out. Not only that, they do nothing to block out external noises. I'm looking again for something better, and will not be afraid to spend a little extra money.

1-0 out of 5 stars These are REALLY bad earphones
I bought a pair of these and will never buy them again. The covers came off the earpieces and would NEVER GO BACK ON!!!! The sound quality was also very poor. Most of the time it seemed as if people around me could hear my music better than I could because the earpieces did not fit well into my ears. These are a complete waste of money!!

1-0 out of 5 stars A complete waste of money
I can't believe how [junky] these earbuds are. I debated between Koss and Sony, but Sony were twice as much. Unfortunately I bought them at a store where I could read the reviews. I'd return them but I bought them while on vacation. These things are totally [junk]. They're not shaped to fit the ears at all, and they fall out of mine within 30 seconds. They're totally unusable. My Sony's on the other hand (the cheapest, most basic) stay in even when I do sports. I learned my lesson trying to save a few bucks, and I'll never buy another Koss product again.

2-0 out of 5 stars FINE FOR THE MONEY
Maybe my ear-holes are too small or something, but these headphones kept falling out and were uncomfortable when they were in. The sound was fine, nothing stellar, but I had no trouble hearing the music. On a good note, they are compact and great to carry in a purse or pocket. If you only have a couple of bucks to spare, and if your ears are big, than go ahead and buy them. Otherwise, shop around. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Junky

I'm glad I did not pay much for these, because I threw them away after two uses. I bought them to save space in my carry-on during my last vacation. I should have stuck with bigger ones that worked better. I could not get the bud to stay in my ear, even the over-ear clip did not help - these things are made for people with HUGE ears.

2-0 out of 5 stars No bass!
I was hoping these would be decent for wearing while running but I'm already really disappointed after listening to them for five minutes. They have no bass. They don't come close to the random Sony earbuds I have sitting on my desk at work - even when plugging into my laptop's cruddy headphone jack the difference between them is huge and unacceptable. Without bass they just accentuate the flaws in compressed audio.

Ergonomically they might be comfortable, but I haven't logged the time to tell. They certainly feel like they'll stay on through most activities.

1-0 out of 5 stars Uncomfortable
The speakers don't stay snug against your ear canal, and the ear clip is uncomfortable. Bad design. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Big sound for big ears
I guess I have small ears. Who knew? The sound of this earpeice is great, as is the microphone, but I have the hardest time getting them in my ear. If you're going to buy this as your hands-free headset, don't expect to just be able to put it in your ear. You have to squish the earpeice really well, hold it tightly so it doesn't go back to its nomal shape (it does so in less than a second), and push it into your ear canal as quickly as you can. Mine came with various shapes of foam cushions, but they were all gigantic. The sound is great, and it does an excellent job blocking out sound on that one ear it is in, but overall it is too hard to get in my ear for it to get a great rating. If you don't like the earbuds for your stereo because they fall out so much, you probably won't like these. Otherwise, give them a try.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not for the Small eared folk
I just wanted to say that I have used Koss "plugs" for some time now and they are terrific. I have no problem putting them into my ear or removing them. It does however have to be squished into the ear, so some people cannot get used to this idea. However, that is how it blocks outside sound. Try twisting while inserting. That's my 2 cents.

1-0 out of 5 stars won't stay in the ear....
Hey, I just want to let people know about this headset. I haven't used it, but I have Used the KOSS earbuds that are the same version. The idea is that these foamies at the tip of the earbuds are supposed to squish into your ear and provide "sound-insolation," but in reality, it is almost hard to get them into your ears in the first place. the foam is much softer than your average faom ear-plug, so if you roll it into a tube to get it into your ear, it only stays rolled up/squished for a fraction of a second. by the time you get it into your ear, it has expanded and simply squishes laterally on the surface of your ears. If you do happen to get it in, they easily fall out.. if you want it, go for it, but I had bad experiences with this style. I do have small ears though... ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars These headphones are a hassle!
As a portable music enthusiast I have tried and discarded multiple sets of headphones for many reasons; the sound was lousy, they were too clunky for my lifestyle, or they just didn't look cool. In regards to appearance and sound these headphones come in at 4 stars.

However, they fail in a frustrating respect. The chord placement of one side of the headphones juts out from behind the foam pad on the headphone. This causes the foam pad to *repeatedly* fall off and need to be readjusted each time you wear them. The foam falls off at the most inopportune times and it's a miracle I've been able to chase after it and chase it down each time. Though this might not seem like a big deal to some who listens to their music while stationary, this is a huge hassle if you listen to your music with this headphones primarily in transit.

Whoever designed these headphones did not design them with the portable audio listener in mind. Not many headphones are, and since most stores only allow you to try on headphones that are in the hundreds price range, sometimes you have to go through dozens of 15 dollar headphones until the find the right one. The real test of any set of headphones, though is how well they survive your day to day use. I don't think there is any price tag for that. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars I was not very impressed with the sound quality
I was not very impressed with the sound quality of these phones. I was using a set of HP-X222 Aiwa phones the day before I bought these, and when I got these UR-20's I thought that the sound was so flat and lifeless compared to the Aiwas that I returned them the next day. It was like the difference between night and day. Granted, the Aiwas run for an additional $20 or so.

PROS:
*Low cost
* Quite comfortable

CONS:
* A lot of distortion: If you look up the specs on these phones they are rated at <.3%THD which isn't too great. I experienced a lot of distortion with these phones
* Flat and lifeless sound: Compared to the other sets I listened to, it sounded like I was playing music through a telephone receiver. Very thin and unexciting.

I guess if you bear in mind that you generally get what you pay for, these aren't a bad set of headphones, but if you are looking for music to ring and you want to hear things in music you haven't heard before, I would suggest laying the money down and getting a good set. My expectations may have been too high for the price.

5-0 out of 5 stars Affordable, Quality phones. Couldn't be Happier
I ordered these headphones pretty much because I had a few bucks left on an ... gift certificate and figured since I had already ordered a portable mp3 player and spend so much time on the computer listening to music (while working, surfing the net, wasting away time, etc) I could always use a pair of quality headphones.
I plugged them in and opened up my Winamp playlist the moment the headphones arrived and I took them out of the box. I couldn't be happier with them.
You know how there are certain aspects of a song you can only hear when listening to it through headphones? Background music, instrumental, balance tracks, sound effects and certain sounds to a song you just can't hear when listening to them through speakers at a normal volume level? These phones really make every part of the songs I listen to stand out. Songs I've heard thousands of times through speakers or my previous pair of mediocre headphones are completely new pieces of music for me now. The bass is great, outside noise is effective blocked out and it just seems every song I listen to now has a completely new, fresh, better sound to it. Without exagerrating, I can say that listening to one of my favorite songs with these headphones for the first time actually gave me goosebumps because I heard parts to that song I had never heard before.
For the price and the sound quality, these phones are an excellent buy.

2-0 out of 5 stars Breakage bad....
Having suffered through a wide variety of garbagey headphones in my time, I was very pleased with the quality of sound to be found in these. Unfourtunately, my hapiness was short lived, as 3 months following my purchase, the plastic housing for the swiveling earpiece just snapped off...Never one to be discouraged, I repaired it with a small metal rod bent as a "splint" for the broken piece, and attached to the housing with electrical tape...much to my chagrin, the otherside broke 2 weeks later...in exactly the same way! well, I did the same ghetto style fix for the other side that I had for the first, and theyre still usable, although barely presentable... this is not a reliable product is the long and the short of it....

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Buy
I bought these headphones as an upgrade from my Maxell HP 550 headpones and I am not the lease bit disappointed. The reason I tried a different pair was because the Maxell headpones made my ears hurt within 2 minutes of listening. These headphones are clear and go easy on my ears even when I have the volume high, not to mention there quite comfy. I haven't tried any other headphones that are in this price range but if you decide to buy some more expensive heaphones instead of the cheap ones, like I use to own, you can't go wrong with these.

1-0 out of 5 stars Single worst product purchased ... ever
These wounded awful and fell apart after two uses. The ear phones are way too heavy for the headset and fell apart.

Do not purchase these. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The absolute best (sounding) in its price range!
Overall, this is the best overall value, IMO, for a portable headphone. Small and lightweight, the KSC-35s also sound better than any of their competitors, including the S/Portapros. They have OVERALLY bloated bass, the kind that gives me headaches. The KSC-35s would, too, if it wasn't for their very interesting design. Unlike usual headphones which go over your head, or even the neck-band types, the KSC-35s have no headband whatsoever! They hang around your ear - clip is the word most people use, but that sounds painful, and the KSC-35s are the most comfortable headphones i've ever worn. Ever.

To the most important part: Sound. These things ound great. With only 32 ohms of resistance, they will be driven easily from any portable, including MP3/MD players with low output strength. The clip design, as i mentioned above, changes the acoustic properties of the KSC-35s. They are no longer exerting pressure on your ears; they instead simply drape the earlobe. Because of this "loose" grip (when compared to the S/Portapros), they lose some of the boominess in the bass department. They do, however, have a peak in frequency response favoring bass, so bass lovers will truly enjoy these headphones. I prefer the mid-range, and the KSC-35s have a decent midrange presentation, as well a good treble presentation. The excessive bass, while less than the S/Portapros, is still too much to allow the the other frequencies to shine.

All in all, a very active-use friendly design, excellent sound for minimal price, and a superiority over other models in the same price range BY THE SAME COMPANY (KOSS), won me over. These headphones are perfect for an active listener who wants to get great sound out of his portable.

NOTE: I have been constantly comparing the KSC-35s to the Sportapro and Portapro models because all three models have the same drivers. In fact, the S/Portaprose tend to be highly reccommended, while actually their sporty-looking cousin, the KSC-35, sound better! For less! The only draw-back being a slightly unusual design, which I have grown to love!

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing sound, especially for the price
These are a terrific set of headphones. The sound quality is terrific, though the physical design isn't perfect.

I had a pair of Grado SR60s (not super-high-end, but still 5x what I paid for the KSC50s), and I'd say the KSC50s are neck and neck with them. The midrange might be slightly better in the Grados, but the transparency is about the same, and the KSC50s definitely have better low-frequency response. If you want to hear real low bass sounds and hate the cheesy "Super Bass" effects, these are the phones for you. And best of all, the KSC50s are really easy to drive, so you won't have to drain your portable player's battery by cranking up the volume to hear it.

As far as the form factor goes, it's good and bad. I have a pair of Sony earclips (that list for the same as the KSC50s) that are smaller and lighter, and they have a wire-style clip for the ear that's a lot less bulky than the clip on the KSC50s. The Sonys are more convenient and more comfortable -- the only problem is that the the sound is horrible by comparison. So if you're comparing these with earbuds or other earclips for use during snowboarding or something, the form factor may or may not get the job done. On the other hand, compared to full-size Grados or Sennheisers, these are extremely portable and convenient. I've used these for walking and other activities, and I haven't had any trouble with them. As far as comfort goes, I hated them for the first couple of days, then I got used to them and now they don't bother me -- though I wouldn't go so far as to call them really comfortable. They could definitely be improved on this score.

Another note: these aren't sealed headphones. If you fly a lot and want to drown out the noise of an airplane, go get some Etymotics instead. On the other hand, I prefer being able to hear a certain amount of ambient noise in case something comes up that I need to hear, whether walking around or in the office.

Bottom line: these aren't perfect, but they're the best all-around headphones I've ever owned, and the price is so low it's ridiculous.

5-0 out of 5 stars Superior Sound -- Great Price
I'm purchasing my 2nd pair of these. Only one other lightweight headphone that I've owned has beaten the sound quality of these. My general advice on buying lightweight headphones with the best sound (learned through experimentation):

1. Frequency Response: I believe this is the most important specification. The wider the range, the better the sound. I wouldn't even bother with any headphone that starts above 16hz or ends below 23,000hz, because you'll lose some of the high-end and low-end sounds. For instance, when I played the soundtrack from Star Wars on headphones that didn't meet this criteria, I noticed that I couldn't hear some of the background instruments.

2. Gold Plated Plug: The sound from non-gold plated headphones doesn't seem as good.

I'd encourage you to read the other reviews here, too. These headphones fit very comfortably for me, but I guess that's not the case with everyone. Also, I wouldn't know how well these headphones handle heavy wear & tear, because I don't use them in such situations.

5-0 out of 5 stars lightweight, comfortable, and affordable
i just got these today, and i was surprised by the lightness of the headphones. i put them on, and started playing from my mp3 player, and i was very impressed. the bass was great, and the sound was rich, not flat. please note, though, that the headphones are shown actual size in the small thumbnail, not the enlarged picture. overall, i would suggest these headphones to others.

3-0 out of 5 stars KOSS KSC50
These headphones have good bass, and very portable very portable, the sound quality is very good for the price

My headphone clip broke off after a couple of months, the clip can sometimes hurt your ears when you wear them for a while

i would go for different headphones, like the Sennheiser PX 100 ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Very VERY dissappointing.
While the quality was pretty good, I was distracted by the fact that the output was very little; at full blast, could only hear at normal levels. The earpieces are big and dont seem to be erganomicaly designed for ears. The foam covers were a little helpful for that problem, but fell off very easily, like if you store them in your pocket instead of the carying case, and when the covers are gone, the phones became very annoying to listen through.
I recently bought the panasonic RP-HV152 to replace them and all of the problems of the Koss product were fixed by the Panasonic product. At a similar price range, about four to five dollars, it is a much better suggestion and reccomendation.

2-0 out of 5 stars My ears must not be normal...
While I agree with the other reviewer who said the sound quality on these ear buds is great, I was not able to make these stay in my ears, no matter how hard I tried. On the rare occasion when they did stay, I soon had to remove them because of the pain they caused. The "bud" part that goes into the ear seems overly large, the padding is thin and easily removable, and there is nothing for the ear to grab on to. I am continuing my search for the perfect ear buds....

2-0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for.
I've purchased some Koss products in the twenty to fifteen dollar range, and have been surprized by the sound quality, but I was dissapointed by these. I was hoping to use them with my ipod (my apple earbuds are a little blown out), but they are way less powerful than the apple earbuds. I had to turn the volume all the way up just to equal the sound that I got from my apple earbuds at normal volume. And even then, the sound was less full and warm sounding. I immediately converted back to my blown out apple earbuds. These headphones are not terrible, they're good for their price, but I expected greatness. Just go ahead and spend some extra money.

5-0 out of 5 stars best earbuds around
I bought these earbuds the other night at wal-mart and when I
got to the car I took them out of package and I was shocked at
at how good the sound was there a lot better then the phillps or
sony or even some of the other koss brands thats around. And to
these little earphones can pack a punch with the stuido like
quality sound.Thats why I give these little babies a rating of
five and to they our noise cancelation also.................

2-0 out of 5 stars Terrible
Though it had great sound quality, the foam covering of the hard palstic speakers fell off after two uses, one cover being lost never to be seen again, the other falling off repeatedly, no matter how I reapplied it. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Nice sound; flimsy construction; poor customer service
The A250 phones provide pleasant sound quality, but I regret to report that their construction can be flimsy and Koss customer service seems to be nonexistent. I had gotten 15 and 20 years of flawless service from my previous two sets of earphones before I purchased the A250 phones. Within two months of gentle usage listening to chamber music at modest levels, an intermittent contact developed in the stereo jack. After two email inquiries to Koss did not elicit a response, I installed a new connector myself. A spring clip mount for one earphone self-destructed two months later, and a small metal part within the clip disappeared into my carpeting. I had to remount the earphone to the headband using a nut and bolt. Caveat emptor!

5-0 out of 5 stars I've had a pair for years, loved them, they're like new.
I highly recommend these headphones. I guess some people get the lemons, but that hasn't been my experience with these. I've recommended them to students for years and have never heard a complaint. Musicians love them. The sound is really excellent! You'll hear your favorite music like you've never heard it before.

2-0 out of 5 stars unsatisfied customer
I purchased one pair and within two days they fell apart. They were replaced by the company where puchased (amazon) and the same exact thing happened again.

4-0 out of 5 stars Caution!
I was looking for a pair of high end headphones that I could wear during my day at work. Obviously, the main requirement was to keep all the music to myself. These headphones have great sound, HOWEVER it has speakers on the outside too! These speakers are not terribly loud on the outside, but are definitely not fit for situations in which you don't want others to be disturbed by your music. I didn't see any mention of this in the specifications, so you should definitely take this into account before you make a purchase. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Ouch
The headphone's cord is only a little more than four feet. They apply too much pressure to my head, and they pinch and pull my hair (it's only 5cm long) when I take them off or adjust them. An in-ear set of head phones would be cheaper and more worth your while.
