Amazon.com Review

Just as a keyboard needs a mouse and peanut butter needs jelly, a hometheater system needs a subwoofer. KLH realized this when it designed the HTA- 9006, an affordable six-piece home theater speaker package which can purr aswell as roar.

A powered subwoofer anchors the HTA-9006. Its down-firing 8-inchdriver kicks with lightning-like speed and garners terrific visceral impact froma muscular 100-watt amplifier. The cabinet is ported to increase sensitivity andfrequency extension, yet it's still small enough for you to tuck into a corneror under an end table.

But we're most impressed by the subwoofer features weusually only see on far costlier models: a crossover that's continuouslyvariable from 50 to 150 Hz (letting you adjust the upper end of the sub'srange); a 0-to-180-degree phase switch (which can compensate for distancesbetween your sub and your front speakers); a continuously variable volumecontrol (essential for easy fine tuning); an auto on/off sensor (you never haveto think about turning it on or off), and speaker-level as well as line-levelinputs (granting flexible setup options.

Fouridentical two-way satellite speakers handle front- and rear-channel duties. Eachsmall black cabinet features a 4-inch fiber-cone woofer and a 0.63-inch tweeter. The horizontal center channel employs exactly the same drivers, but here twinwoofers are placed to the outside of the tweeter for a little extra body (mostfilm sound comes from the center channel). Duplicating the drivers for all- around timbre matching is one of the keys to superior surround sound--again,kudos to KLH.

The center channel does a great job of fixing dialogue at thescreen and blends beautifully with the front and surround speakers to create asurprisingly expansive and three-dimensional soundscape.

With stereo CDs aswell as 5.1-channel DVDs, this system's midrange is articulate and natural. Itmay not be as detailed as the very best and it does have a touch of boxcoloration, but that's acceptable in this price range. What's really importantis overall balance, and in that regard this system excels.

And that subwooferworks like a champ! It's never obvious or heavy-handed but, when called upon, itdelivers the explosive thrills that make home theater so much fun.

Got thepicture? KLH's HTA-9006 is one heck of a good little home theater package and atruly great value. --Wayne Garcia

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent, excellent value!!
For the price of this set, you absolutely cannot go wrong. I have this set hooked up to my Kenwood VR-305 receiver, and I cannot believe how good these sound. I have been using surround sound for about 6-7 years now, and this complete set matches, in fact surpasses in a lot of ways, my prior speakers which a mix of Infinity and Sony. I used to have 2 large front speakers w/12 inch woofers that combined did not put out as much clean bass and overall clarity as these KLH's do. The subwoofer has all the adjustments you could need to get it soudning good, and the satellites do a splendid job in reproducing the high and mid ranges. You do have to fiddle around to get the right balance between the speakers and the sub, but once you do, you will be sincerely impressed. The center channel matches the quality of my Infinity center channel (I paid 150 for that one alone). If you are an audiophile you probably could find some faults with it, but for the music and movie lover like me who likes good, rich, clean sound, I dont see why you would spend more on another set...unless of course you could afford or would be willing to spend hundreds upon hundreds of dollars for speakers (I cant, and even if i could, i wouldnt!). The only reason I dont give this set 5 stars is because the "auto" power on the sub (which is supposed to kick the sub on when audio is detected) is not very sensitive, and the power sometimes shuts off at lower volume levels. So for low levels you just have to leave the sub on and take the little extra effort to turn the sub off when you're done using it. Otherwise, I would not hesitate to recommend this set anyone. Its probably the best value on a speaker package you'll get for this price.

5-0 out of 5 stars New surround sound fan
When I went looking for surround sound speakers there were 3 things I wanted: K-L-H. This system has not let me down. Even at a low setting, the sub-woofer makes everything so much clearer and just rocks the house. My teenage son is rediscovering all of his music with a center speaker and a sub woofer. We live in a one-story house of about 900 sq. feet and anywhere you are it sounds like the speakers are inches away. These speakers may be small but they deliver pure power. And Amazon.com's price just made it soooooo much sweeter

3-0 out of 5 stars Almost Worth the Money, Certainly not a Penny More
I got a $200.00 gift certificate to spend at Amazon.com and needed surround sound speakers, so I bought by price... Now I wasn't expecting Bose quality here, and my expectations were not exceeded. For the money I got a great subwoofer and decent center channel, but the four satellite speakers were pretty weak on sound quality... about the same as having four clock radios around the room. So, my advice? Save up a little more and buy at least the next grade up.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great value
Only problem I have encountered is the subwoofer making the metal on top of my receiver rattle!! That really gets annoying, but I'll simply move the receiver elsewhere. These are a great value, and offer good imaging if placed correctly.

4-0 out of 5 stars Same as HTA-9005 + PSW-8100
I have KLH HTA-9005 and PSW-8100, which are the exact components in this system, however cost less :) I am pretty happy with my system. It sounds great! Two small points though: Satellites could use some more highs and sub makes some humming in low volumes. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Plastic junk
I thought I would give KLH a try based on several reviews that this company made good gear. This was a big disappointment. These speakers have nothing - they sound like tin cans. Now you could say you get what you pay for, but I honestly cannot find anything nice to say about them. They have no bass, the midrange is muddy - seems like a few octaves are simply missing, and the highs are loud, but not crisp. The subwoofer is somewhat decent, but its not really 50 watts. It is 25 watts RMS, 50 watt peak. RMS should be the only rating you look at, as it is a more standardized measure of power. I returned mine to the store

1-0 out of 5 stars Home Entertainment System?
DO NOT BUY if you dont have an amp AND a reciever. first of all, the speakers are puny. Next you need an amp to get 100WATTS as advertised. Wait theres much more, You need a reciever too. And last but not least, this item is refurbished! - which was NOT advertised as you can see.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very happy with the system
Having received a DVD player for Christmas I then needed to experience the surround sound, so I researched speaker systems. While I am not an audio afficianado, I do like good sound and I don't believe you have to pay through the nose for it. so when I saw this unit I did further research about the company. I went to their website, read what their business motto("producing superior high fidelity loudspeakers at extremely affordable prices")and read all the reviews I could find. Everything I read was positive so I bought a set.

I am very glad I did. They are quality built and the sound was more than I expected, even without a seperate subwoofer connection on the reciever. I would definitely buy another product made by KLH.

3-0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware
This actually is a review on the seller rather then the item. I ordered this item through Amazon.com and it was shipped by J&R Music and Computer World. When I received the item, it was stamped refurbished on all sides of the box, so I never openned it. There most likely is nothing wrong with buying a refurbished item, but the point is that the description on Amazon.com did not say that it was a refurbished item. I'm sure it's not Amazon.com's fault, but be careful of who you're actually buying from...

4-0 out of 5 stars Great gear for entry level
The five 2-way satellite speakers are really cool.

If you like movie, then then 50-watt powered subwoofer in a front-firing bandpass will be your favorite.
All speakers magnetically shielded against video interference, so it's easy to find a good location around your living room.

Subwoofer features power switch and level control, plus line-level and speaker-level inputs, with feed-through to satellites

Amazon.com Review

KLH designed its three-piece HT-9930 for people who already have a pair of stereo speakers and are ready to turn their systems into five-channel home theaters without spending a fortune. The HT-9930 brings together a center-channel and two rear-channel speakers for less than $100, a bargain any way you cut it.

The HT-9930's two unobtrusive satellite speakers come with keyhole-shaped slots for easy wall mounting. Removing the grilles reveals 4-inch woofers with small "whizzer" cones for added midrange detail as well as a 0.625-inch piezoelectric tweeter. The center channel sports an identical tweeter and is flanked by two similar but slightly larger (4.25-inch) woofers. The black enclosures are quite attractive and belie this system's modest price.

And, for the money, the HT-9930 sounds surprisingly good. Vocals, the most important element for a center-channel speaker to reproduce, sound well-balanced and natural. The center channel exhibits a slight--and, at this price, unavoidable--boxiness, however, and lacks the ability to render subtle aural details.

The satellites sound nearly identical to the center channel but are not quite as rich or full-bodied due to their single, small woofers. But they perform atmospheric surround-sound duty with ease, carving out a large, three-dimensional soundfield.

With the HT-9930, KLH has funneled its years of speaker-making experience into a remarkably good little add-on home-theater rig. If your budget is limited and you wish to dip your toes into 5- (or 5.1-) channel sound, it's hard to think of a better place to start. --Wayne Garcia

Pros:

  • Sensible approach to easing an existing system into home theater
  • Highly affordable
  • Surprisingly good sound
  • Wires included
  • Removable grilles

Cons:

  • Lacking high- and low-frequency detail
  • Limited bass response

5-0 out of 5 stars Great sound for the price!
Amazing sound/price ratio! Use your existing stereo speakers and complete your surround sound system with a set of these.

1-0 out of 5 stars i use these for coasters
all my life i have loved audio. my dream was to buy a large scale system that sounded good. With a tight budget of only 5,000 dollars (US), i began to construct this thing. Epos LS12's
were my mains, and five granite audio monoblock amps. then it came to surrounds. these klh's came free. dont even hook these up kids. overall they must have a frequency responce of 900-901Hz. what i mean is, they have no bass, bairly midrange, no highs.

4-0 out of 5 stars nice for the price
I bought these as an an entry into 5.1 channel sound. The set tis hooked up to a technics dolby pro receiver with KLH main speakers. It would still benefit greatly from what will surely be my next purchase a subwoofer for the lower power ranges. All in all a lovely, reasonable way to get ones' toes in the water. Although it should be mentioned that the center speaker is a bit of a hog and needs to be corraled so the less powerful surround speakers aren't overwhelmed. By the way this set was $... dollars cheaper at ... than at a so-called bargain electronic outfit. Nice going .... Now get in a subwoofer so I can be a happy woman.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Deal!
I am a college student living in a small room, but I wanted to fit my dvd player with some nice 5 speaker surround sound. These speakers are really nice, the best of the 3 being the center channel. I already had some great infinity front speakers so the rear speakers were a great addition (you don't need to have the greatest speakers in the rear) Overall this is a great deal, came within a week, with an additional $10 for shipping and handling.

5-0 out of 5 stars Surround at its Best
These speakers have provided me and many of family and friends with an enjoyable setting many times. These speakers have given us the best in quality for our surround sound system. I have enjoyed them emmensly and hope you will too because this is a great selection and I am glad to have bought them! ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

As an alternative to large, full-range speakers or as anupgrade to an existing pair of smaller speakers, a subwoofer canmake a lot of sense. Depending on your main speakers, having ornot having a sub can mean the difference between merely watchingvideos or experiencing home theater. The KLH PSW8100-8 poweredsubwoofer is a solid and affordable entry-level subwoofer capableof slamming loads of bass to every last nook and cranny of yourliving room.

But while the PSW8100-8 offers deep bass and heavy power, it isn't necessarily the smoothest of subwoofers. (At this price range, you can't expect it to be.) We found it a bit difficult to integrate with our system if we weren't feeding it a dedicated subwoofer output, such as the ".1"-channel information from a Dolby Digital or DTS 5.1-channel source.

The phase-inversion switch--a great feature to find on a budget subwoofer--allowed the PSW8100-8 to sit farther from our speakers without sounding like it. One of the things that can happen when using multiple speakers in different locations is phase cancellation, where sound waves meet at different points in their wave cycles, nullifying each other when one's "peak" finds another's "valley." If the subwoofer sounds like it's not working, it could be because it's out of phase with the main speakers (in its current location at least). Inverting the phase by 180 degrees can sometimes bring the sounds more closely into alignment.

Using direct subwoofer feeds through the two-channel RCA inputs(the "left" plug serves both for mono feeds) shortened the setupand integration process considerably, readily providing the deep, tight bass the PSW8100-8 is capable of.

Pros:

  • Good sound
  • Easy setup
  • Flexible inputs

Cons:

  • Tricky integration when not using dedicated low-frequencyoutputs

4-0 out of 5 stars KLH PSW8-100 Subwoofer
Rarely do I purchase any product that so delights me that I feel compelled to write the manufacturer about it. The KLH PSW8-100 is one such product. In an effort not to disparage the products of three other well known companies whose subwoofers I also tried, all of which were considerably more expensive, I can only say that for the money, I could not be happier with this product. The minor problem noted by others regarding the auto-detect switch is true but it is easily eliminated, as suggested, by setting the switch to the "ON" position. It is also true that the base does not appear to kick in until your receiver's volume is set to a moderate level; however, I paired this subwoofer with 4 of KLH's extremely affordable 970A's and found it blends beautifully with them. The sound they deliver together is surprisingly warm and rich across the entire sound spectrum for both movies and music and I can not imagine being any more satisfied if I'd paid ten times as much for my system. The volume and crossover controls, which are quite sensitive, the relatively small footprint of the unit, its speaker and input connections, and its solid overall build quality make the PSW8-100 a tremendous value and a pleasure to recommend to others.

4-0 out of 5 stars An Good Value
When I first saw the price on this subwoofer I was a bitskeptical. I did not think that such a cheap subwoofer would be ableto deliver deep, clean, high quality bass (especially not down to 30hz). But I decided that I would buy it as part of my Dolby Digital home theater system. When I recieved it and set it up I was very pleased with what I got for such a low price. While it is by no means the best subwoofer out there, it delivers very good bass. Sound stays realitivly clean unless the volume is high, although it does often sound boomy. It does have deep bass, but not the deepest, it produces almost nothing below 50 hz, so consider the frequency range to be 150 - about 50 hz. If you are setting up a home theater system or upgrading a pair of weak speakers, you should seriously consider this subwoofer, especially if you do not want to spend a lot of money doing so.

3-0 out of 5 stars Pro: Hey, it's a $100.00 subwoofer. Con: Hey, it's a...
I've had this model sub for over 4 years - I'm amazed it's even still available.

That being said, it's adequate for a [price] for use with a *small* stereo system. Don't expect it to perform a miracle on a [price] surround system. The bass is adequate, but frequency range is narrow and "thumpy" lacking detail. Tends to make a system sound like a boom box. On hardwood floors it's a good performer but too small for carpeted rooms. Both the frequency cutoff and volume are adjustable. But the controls are rear mounted and placement of the sub can make accessing the controls difficult. The remote controls provided for newer models are far more convenient.

As others have noted the "auto power on" feature is flawed and produces an annoying THUMP when your system is turned on. It's better to disable the feature, although that leaves the sub drawing power on a constant basis.

I cannot figure out, as one other reviewer has noted, if an apparent lack of bass on occasion is a "feature" or a technical problem with the auto power off. Every so often I find myself putting an ear to this sub to check if it's powered on or not. Some times the bass is barely audible. At those times, even with the "auto power on" feature disabled, I have to flip the power switch off and on again to get the sub to function.

It's great for my sister's stereo but I wouldn't buy another one. If you want a hundred bucks worth of sound reinforcement for a weak, low end system - it's a good buy. If you want something that sounds really good - look elsewhere and spend more. Especially for a unit with a remote control.

2-0 out of 5 stars Bigger is Better
I have changed my mind about this subwoofer. The sub performed fine for the last two years, but it started having problems. It would thump very loudly when powered on and the bass would flutter as if the woofer or the amp was going out. I purchased a 12" 200 watt power subwoofer and I am very pleased. If you can afford a 12" sub go for it. If you want the full movie experence go for the bigger sub.

1-0 out of 5 stars If you want a sausage factory BUY IT!
The sweet grill over the port rocks for acurately recreating the sound of driving on the highway with the window down. The hexagon legs transfer the mighty sound of the 8" driver into your carpet! While running a frequency test of 30hz the woofer separated from the box and the port blew out because of the stupid grill. However, it was slightly amusing watching it fly apart. If you buy this subwoofer even for [$]... ... Read more

In the four months I've owned my KLH HTA-809 Home Theater system, it has proven to be an excellent improvement to my home electronics collection. The system arrived at my door well protected in its own special packaging, which wouldn't have been better designed even if the equipment had cost ten times more.

The individual components are also extremely clean...no ill-fitting pieces, bad edges, grilles that don't fit properly, etc. Again, all was found to be as good as one would expect of far costlier systems.

The instructions are a bit sparse and confusing, but the need to refer to them is quite minimal as hookup is straightforward. The factory packaging includes precut 24-gauge wire, and hanging brackets for the four twisty satellites.

I found prior reviewers of KLH subwoofers to be correct in their observation that the "Auto" power setting is not sensitve enough to be useful, unless you routinely listen to media at moderate sound levels and which has pronounced bass content. I just leave my subwoofer on all the time, though it could probably be plugged into the "Switched" outlet found on the backplane of many receivers.

Some other reviewers have also cited problems with complete failure of the subwoofer. These complaints have me looking over my shoulder a bit, though I can report that my own unit is functioning fine.

My KLH system is driven by a Sony STR-635 receiver. I have a Sony 32" Trinitron and a Toshiba 6-head Hi-Fi stereo VCR. The system is used in a 12x12 foot family room with standard 8 foot ceiling, though it will occasionally also be used in a 12x20 room with a 20 foot vaulted ceiling when I want to do "Theater" for a larger home audience. The KLH system is competent in this larger environment.

I typically listen to "dramatic" instrumental music (e.g. Jerry Read Smiths's hammered dulcimer) at moderate levels, and generally older videos such as Alfred Hitchcock. I have however tried the system with more recent material (The Bear, Paulie, letterbox Ben Hur, Sound of Music with THX) and the KLH system delivers a very impressive experience. I think readers who prefer modern action videos with advanced soundtracks, would also find the KLH package a worthwhile investment.

Last night I went to a neighbor's home, taking my copy of "Mrs. Miniver" (a British WWII movie) with me. I found the neighbor had a small Sony home theater package custom-installed in his family room. We started the video. On the neighbor's Sony system, my video didn't sound as good as I thought I remembered it to be.

After ten minutes, I talked the neighbor into coming to watch the remainder of that video on my system. My KLH speakers outperformed his Sony stuff without even breathing hard! The sound during the bombing scenes couldn't have been better if we'd been in a commercial theater.

I not only can recommend the HTA-809 to others as a quality investment, but I'm planning to take my own advice and buy a second KLH HTA-809 package for my own home!

I give four stars only because of the insensitive Auto power setting on the subwoofer.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good for a budget
If you are wanting a surround system on a budget, I would recommend this system...it is packaged with a 100 watt sub. I have heard better with more expensive systems (the reason for 4 stars, not 5) but for the price, I have yet to hear a speaker system that has the same depth of sound and quality. If these speakers are in the price range you are looking, I believe you will be pleasantly surprised.

3-0 out of 5 stars This is the same as HTA-1000
I bought the HTA-809 system ...recently and found that it gives decent performance for the price. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that a 100W subwoofer is included in the system....

3-0 out of 5 stars decent
overall this is a pretty good system. If your looking for bass though don't look at this. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Twist and shout--that's what KLH's sweet little TW-09B can do. This two-way minispeaker comes with a pair of separate (yet attached) enclosures for the woofer and tweeter. But here's the, uh, twist: the TW-09B's tweeter housing actually swivels back and forth, letting you aim the high frequencies more directly at the listening position or, in a rear channel application, bounce the sound off an adjacent wall for a more diffuse, surround effect.

The TW-09B is a seriously cute satellite speaker. Each palm-sized, matte-black enclosure houses a 3.625-inch woofer and 0.625-inch liquid-cooled dome tweeter. These impressive little drivers are covered by removable black grille cloths, and because the speakers are video shielded, you can place them directly alongside your computer or TV screen without the speaker magnets distorting the picture.

Sonically, the TW-09B is remarkably good for a speaker that's at once diminutive and affordable. You'll hear a large soundstage, with precise image placement and a strong, up-front midrange. The high frequencies are clear, if a little pronounced, but despite KLH's 80 Hz low-frequency spec, you shouldn't expect any real bass from these babies. For computer use, this isn't a problem, but for music or home theater, we would suggest adding a subwoofer.

Supplied accessories include a 20-foot pair of thin-gauge speaker cables and wall-mount brackets. At 90 days, the warranty seems a little chintzy, but the TW-09B seems built well enough to last.

The TW-09B is ideal for use with a computer, small stereo, or home theater system--just remember to add subwoofer if you expect any real bass response. If you're looking for a pair of inexpensive speakers that don't look or sound cheap, this a terrific place to start. --Wayne Garcia

4-0 out of 5 stars nice
i bought these speakers in a package (hta-4906) which came with 5 of these speakers and a 50 watt subwoofer.
The moment i hooked them up, i was amazed at the quality of the sound from such a small set of speakers. Of course these are no bose, but for the price they are great. I paid 90 bucks for the set, and im impressed. They have great highs and mids, but are missing the bass, but that was why it came with a sub. The subwoofer really helps bring out the bass, and i think is a nessisity.

For the price, you can't go wrong.

2-0 out of 5 stars Just too small
I found these speakers just to small for my use. I have a pair of KLH's 98b's 2 way and I like them very much. The Twistables are just to small and can't put out enough sound to keep up with my other KLH's. I used the twistables as replacements for a pair of 6" two way AR's and the twistables just can't create the same sound filed that's needed in my surround setup. They can be driven very hard as the main pair. I will order another pair...

3-0 out of 5 stars ummmmmmmmm
if you think you have a really bassy system.......i recommend you get these because they will really make your system sound better..........sorry but these speakers have absolutly NO BASS!!!!!!!!!!! but i think i have solved the problem.........no air intakes!!! just drill a hole through the sides and they should sound a little bit bassier. but don't do it if u think you will mess it up.......

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice for the price
For the money spent, these speakers are a very good value. I received them yesterday, hooked them up to my AIWA bookshelf system, and adjusted them to suit my room. They really add some sparkle to my system. They don't have much in the bottom end, but the main speakers pick up that load. I will be putting in a sub to fully take advantage of the DVD's bass management capabilities.
These speakers included wall mount brackets that make them excellent for side or rear surround speakers. I would recoomend them highly!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great rear speakers
These speakers are great for the price for rear speakers on a surround sound system. I pruchased these because of the low cost and they have worked well for my system. I would not buy these to be my only pair of speakers for a system but the way I use them has been great. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Music may sound better bigger, but bigger won't always gel with your chosen listening space. The KLH Reference Series Model 18 Loudspeakers walk a nice middle ground between compactsize and life-like sound, playing clearly and loudly on minimal amplifier power.

The two-way Model 18s use 8-inch woofers, moving more air than many bass-heavy three-way speakers. In a two-way design such as this, an 8-inch woofer can be tough to integrate with thetweeter. The Model 18s aren't completely successful in their integration of the two--the tweeter sounded somewhat pronounced in our listening; however, the speakers don't strive for excessive bass output either. If anything, we found the Model 18s a little on the thin side (despite a low-end rating down to 48 Hz), sounding better on sparsely arranged acoustic music than on material with complex arrangements or textures.

The slight high-frequency lift in the Model 18s sets them up for good imaging (visualization of the music) and good low-level music listening, in which the bass frequencies more or less drop out, leaving the floor to the higher-pitched melodic instruments.

The Model 18s exhibited good off-axis response (as when heard from the back or the side), a desirable trait if you'll be listening from places other than the central "sweet spot" between the pair. Magnetic shielding will keep the magnets in the voice coils from interfering with a television or computer-monitor picture, as might occur in home-theater or multimedia setups.

Too big for most bookshelves and too small to be considered floorstanders, these speakers will probably be best served by using low (10- to 20-inch) speaker stands. In mid-sized rooms with music leaning toward mellow, you'll be well-served by the KLH Model 18s.

Pros:

  • Sound good with acoustic music
  • Solid imaging
  • Good off-axis response

Cons:

  • Slightly tinny
  • Less bass than their size would suggest

2-0 out of 5 stars Inexpensive but ...
It is really worth spending [more] and getting decent speakers. Model18's highs are to high, base is distorted at modereate volume. If you care about sound at all look somewhere else.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
Best speaker you are going to find at this price, you will not be disappionted.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST SPEAKERS, The Greatest
These are the best speakers i have ever had. I love them. Anyone who wants to upgrade their front speakers, but these. They have a lot of bass and the best treble ever. Very clear and natural sounds come from these speakers. I think they look awesome too! You cant beat the price. Thanx Amazon. These speakers are not part of the greatest, they are the greatest themselves. You dont even need a powered subwoofer, these speakers have a lot of bass.

HIGHLY RECOMENDED!

Flipmode is the greatest!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Value
I wanted to replace a pair of bulky ADS monitors from the mid-70s when I moved into a smaller space. I listened to a pair at Circuit City and was blown away. The definition and soundstage were detailed and wide.

Searching on the net for a discounter, I found these at Amazon.com. I could not believe the price! I also bought a set of 12 inch steel stands from Audio Advisor to get them off the floor.

The sound, construction, and look are awesome--especially on the black steel stands. In every way this is the best audio value I ever experienced. Is KLH back to stay!--I hope so. I'm going to get a pair of Ref 16 for the bedroom.

5-0 out of 5 stars Delightfully shocked
I blew out the old factory speakers that came with my bookshelf system, I was looking for some replacement speakers when i got a gift certificate for amazon.com for a graduation present. I was looking at the selection and became suspicious of these speakers, being marked so low. but since i did have the gift cert. i decided to give them a shot, expecting something to be wrong. but when i got them. they were everything they were described to be. i dont know how they can sell them for this price but they are definatly worth the money. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars KLH 10" Subwoofer, bang for the buck
I just ordered my second KLH 10" sub after using another one for almost a year. I shopped for nearly a month and could not find anything better for the price. I use it in a small room, primarily for home theatre use and it works well. It gets a little flabby if pushed hard but that's to be expected in a speaker in this range. Not the best choice for loud music but decent for the 5.1 soundtracks. Plenty of rumble. I never use mote than 20 watts when listening to music and at that level it is reasonably clean. Hard to beat for price. ... Read more
