Amazon.com Product Description

Launch yourself into your high-definition future with JVC's I'Art PRO 56-inch AV-56P575 rear-projection television, a big-screen TV to write home about. The set stands just over 2 feet deep and offers 480p, 720p, and 1080i image compatibility and a broad, 16:9 widescreen aspect-ratio and innovative theater-oriented features like DIST 1080i (Digital Image Scaling Technology, with which all sources are upconverted to full high-definition 1080i resolution) and selectable on/off velocity-scan modulation, which improves the definition at picture edges.

The AV-56P575's high-resolution (0.52 mm) lenticular screen has anti-static coating and a scratch-resistant screen shield to ensure long life and pristine viewing. For adjusting the set's 7-inch SuperHD CRTs, you can use the built-in Super Focus auto convergence feature or 81-point manual convergence if you want to set the convergence precisely to your taste.

HD Range DSD (Digital Super Detail) High-End Edge-Correction Circuitry, and Natural Cinema (3:2 pulldown reversal) corrects the problem of blurred edges which may occur when viewing a program originally shot on film (such as motion pictures) or animation. Natural Cinema helps correct conversion errors that occur when film, which is shot at 24 frames-per-second, is broadcast at the television rate of 30 frames-per-second.

For direct hookup with a DTV set-top receiver, the set offers a cutting-edge High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI). HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link the set with any compatible audio/video source. HDMI supports standard-definition (SD), enhanced definition (ED), or high-definition (HD) video, plus multi-channel digital audio--all using a single cable. It transmits all ATSC HDTV standards and supports up to 8-channel digital audio, with bandwidth to spare to accommodate future enhancements and requirements.

Two auto-sensing, HD-capable component-video inputs accept video from DTV receivers or standard and progressive-scan DVD players (among other devices), while S-video and standard RCA composite-video inputs accommodate most other video sources. The set offers a total of 4 audio/video inputs, one of which is built into the front panel so you can hook up a VCR, camcorder, or gaming console. A rear-panel RF input accommodates older VCRs, cable boxes, and antennas.

A multifunction timer turns the TV on and off for you when you're not home or works as an alarm clock or program reminder; a sleep timer saves energy by turning off the set after you've nodded off. Other features include XDS (Extended Data Service) auto clock set with ID and channel display, 6 aspect modes including HD EZ Fill (Panorama, Regular, Cinema, Full, HD Cinema Zoom, HD Panorama), and single-tuner POP (picture-on-picture) with image freeze and multiwindow indexing.

The AV-56P575 receives not only stereo broadcasts, but Second Audio Programming (or SAP), too, and you always have Advanced HyperSurround to simulate surround sound from any 2 speakers. BBE High-Definition Audio improves speech intelligibility and restores the dynamic range of compressed musical passages.

Amazon.com Product Description

Now you can compile seamless highlight tapes from your home-video footage to send to your friends and family--and you can even add a musical soundtrack. JVC's high-resolution S-VHS HR-S5912U is loaded with sophisticated features like insert editing and audio dubbing. It also features conveniences like SVHS ET (Expansion Technology, which lets you record broad-bandwidth Super VHS signals on affordable standard-VHS tapes) and a child lock, which keeps "unauthorized" viewers from watching or taping specific channels and time slots.

The HR-S5912U's hi-fi, four-head design combines great sound, high quality, and great effects, including variable slow motion, frame advance, and variable-speed search. The recorder comes with gold-plated front audio/video jacks enabling easy access for connecting camcorders, video games, or an extra VCR. One-year, eight-event express programming and a full-function remote simplify scheduling and operation.

Perfect for compiling the best segments of your home videos, the deck's insert editing feature uses a flying erase head to ensure seamless edits and smooth, invisible transitions from one scene to the next. You can even perform audio dubbing--adding a soundtrack after you've edited your video together.

Other features include Active Video Calibration (which automatically judges head condition and tape quality to maximize the potential of the tape being used) and VCR Plus+ with cable-box control (which lets you program on the fly by entering the PlusCode numbers found in most TV listings--and the supplied "cable eye" controller will automatically switch channels on your cable box for you).

A JVC Cable Eye controller jack automatically switches channels on your cable box or satellite receiver for ready taping or viewing from the HR-S5912U, but you'll need to request the Cable Eye module from JVC (free of charge) to use this feature.

Picture Control lets you change the VCR's four picture-technology settings: "Auto/Normal" enables the Active Video Calibration System; "Soft" reduces image coarseness when viewing overplayed tapes; "Edit" minimizes degradation during editing (recording and playback); and "Sharp" gives you clearer, sharper-edged pictures.

JVC A/V Compu Link components like the HR-S5912U--when used in concert--will "power up" and switch to the correct input anytime you play a DVD, videotape, CD, cassette, or even when you simply want to watch television. When you are done, the whole system can also be powered down with a single touch.

VCR, remote control, remote batteries, an S-video cable, an RF coaxial video cable, Cable Eye request coupon, a user's manual, and warranty information. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Serious problem with "digital noise"
I purchased the camera as a gift for my husband in July of 2002. As new parents, we expected that we would want a camcorder to record important moments in our children's infancy and toddlerhood. We have not been able to do so, as the camera has been out of commission or in the repair shop for most of the time we've owned it.

In September of 2003, after approximately 15 total hours of normal use, significant digital noise / pixel distortion and a "head cleaning required" message began to appear. We followed the prescribed procedure and cleaned the video heads with a MiniDV cleaning tape. The problem was not corrected, so we sought repair of the camcorder (to the tune of $240). A rebuild of the drum assembly, supply and takeup reels was performed by a JVC-authorized repair center.

Since then, we have recorded less than two hours of tape, and the digital noise problem has again reappeared. Some research suggests that we are not the only ones who have had this difficulty with our JVC camcorder. Since my difficulties, I have found hundreds of consumer comments that suggest that this and several other models of JVC digital camcorders and DV recorders are riddled with digital noise problems.

I have never been so dissatisfied with such a major purchase and am currently seeking a full refund from JVC. Wish me luck.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent camcorder
This is an excellent camcorder.

The 920U (this camcorder) is much better than the 720U/820U. The earlier versions had a constant buzz on the recorded audio that appeared to come from the DV tape motor. The 920U is very quiet and the audio is crystal clear.

Video quality was much better, too, with sharper colors probably due to the improved lens. (The colors on the 720U/820U were washed out and dull.) On the 920U, I couldn't tell much difference between real life and recorded video in well-lighted conditions. Also, the viewfinder is color whereas the 720U/820U have B&W viewfinders.

Zoom is smooth and well-positioned. The menu is easy to use. Overall the ergonomics of the camcorder are excellent.

The 3.5" LCD is VERY nice. I'm definitely hooked on that feature.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Camcorder
...

I used it for the first time during my vacation with my family to Southern California last December and it satisfied me very much. The manual is really easy to follow. It felt good in my palm during action. I took some pictures because the 920 is also equipped with memory card. I really proud of this camcorder...

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent DV
I brought this DV for couple months. I have to admit this DV is much better than I expected. The quality of the video is excellent. The only bad thing is that the camera function is moderate. It only takes good picture in a well lighted place. Also, if you want to transfer your video to your PC, you need to have a firewire port. The usb only works with the SD, so don't expect that you can transfer the video from the usb port.

5-0 out of 5 stars What can I say?
This camcorder is AWESOME. I'm not so great at writing reviews, but here's what I have to say. The camcorder itself looks really cool. It's got a great design, and only weighs like 1 1/4 lbs, so it's really lightweight and doesn't hurt your arms. The picture and sound are perfect. When watching videos that I made, I sometimes felt like I was watching a DVD on a flat screen TV, the picture is THAT good. It has some nice features, and the only problem I have with it is there is no support for a microphone. But, the new features and everything else being so great really makes up for this. I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a superior video camera. The retail price is high, but I bought mine for much less from a respectable site. And it was worth every penny (and just might be worth the full price too). Bottom line - if you are shopping for a camcorder, you WANT this one. ... Read more

The stereo, full-sized HR-J692U comes with JVC's Super VHS Quasi Playback (SQPB) feature, which allows the VHS VCR to recognize and play back tapes recorded in the Super VHS format. This recorder is ready for action--just take it out and plug it in. A color, multilingual onscreen menu and a PLL frequency-synthesized 181-channel tuner simplify setup and operation.

The HR-J692U features a hi-fi, four-head design that combines great sound, high recording quality, and great effects, including variable slow motion, frame advance, and variable speed search. The VCR's four-head design gives you crystal-clear pause and slow-motion effects, and its dual-azimuth construction uses two pairs of recording heads rather than one, each optimized for a specific mode (one for SP recording, the other for EP). Pro-Cision 19-micron heads deliver the clearest possible picture when recording or viewing in EP (extended-play) mode.

2-0 out of 5 stars Great expectations
I bought this VCR as a replacement for an 8 yr-old RCA that was starting to have problems with playback. The price was right and the JVC brand had a good reputation as far as I knew. Despite the good to excellent video recording quality, I have to give this product two stars and I'm returning it for the following reasons.

- The sound from recorded shows is very tinny, to the point of being distracting.

- The fast forward and rewind functions display static over most of the video, making it hard to see when the commercial ends and the show begins so you often wind up going too far forward or back.

- The pause has the same video problem as fast forward. It just doesn't show a clear picture.

- For most functions, the VCR has no feedback of the current status on the LED display. All status information is displayed on-screen, which means you don't know what operation is currently selected unless the TV/VCR mode is switched in.

- The timer programming interface is fairly easy to use but makes it unnecessarily slow to set up the programs. I could program my old RCA in a quarter of the time.

Unfortunately I just can't recommend this product.

2-0 out of 5 stars Would not recommend
I bought this VCR based on the price and reputation of JVC. I had a Panasonic for 12 years and assumed JVC would be of equivalent value. Wrong! The timer used to record programs is non-functional after 8 months of ownership. To record programs, you have to manually press play and have it set on the channel you want to record. Repairs/replacement through the JVC website suggests this model retails at $119 so I did not pursue repairing it. This is not a value for the price.

1-0 out of 5 stars This VCR lasted 4 months...120 days.
I bought the JVC HR-J692 VCR in March 2004 to replace an older model that had died after six years of faithful service. Four months later...my new VCR is dead. I just got off the phone with the warranty service center and learned that the labor cost to fix the VCR will be roughly $200. Now I know why JVC only offers a 90 day warranty on labor. I asked the service center to return the dead VCR to me so that I can use it for target practice. Based on the other ratings that I have read on this model, I would think carefully before buying this product.

1-0 out of 5 stars Lacks Essential Feature!
I wanted to get a better than average VCR & was attracted by the Pro-cision 19u EP Heads, which are supposed to make EP recordings look better. I soon found it lacks the rewind to zero feature our old Panasonic has, allowing one to rewind to where the counter reads zero. The worst was yet to come, & I was lucky to find out before the 30-day deadline to return for a refund. Our electricity was interrupted for a split-second, & the JVC lost all the settings I had laboriously learned to make! Our old Panasonic remembers for about 5 minutes without power. I won't try another JVC VCR!

1-0 out of 5 stars JVC should recall this VCR
This is the absolute worst VCR that I have ever had. Extremely hard to program, no memory during a power outage and it didn't even last through 7 months of use. I thought it was the tapes at first. The picture and sound suddenly started going in and out, and I wound up watching a blue screen most of the time. The warranty may cover parts, but the labor is what costs. I can buy a brand new VCR for $40.00. Quite frankly, I will never buy another JVC product again and will encourage others not to either, unless they recall this VCR, fix the problems or refund everyone's money or give them a replacement VCR of better quality. ... Amazon.com Product Description

With its front-panel inputs, NTSC tuner, and multiformat recording and playback, JVC's DR-M10S DVD recorder/player is perfect for archiving home videos, "taping" TV shows, listening to music, and, of course, watching movies. The unit offers the ability to record to DVD-RAM, DVD-R, or to video-mode DVD-RW, letting you pick the format that's best-suited to a given application. As a player, it handles everything from DVD formats (including DVD+R/+RW) to VCD/SVCD to recordable CDs filled with MP3 music files and JPEG digital images. And, to put your VCR even further out to pasture, the unit comes with VCR Plus+ and a 1-month, 8-event scheduler to simplify advance recording.

DVD-R is like a higher-capacity CD-R--and almost as widely playable. DVD-RW is rewriteable up to 1,000 times, and--like DVD-R--offers the widest compatibility among existing DVD players and computer drives. Rewriteable discs are superb for time shifting your TV viewing, since you can use the same disc week in and week out. DVD-RAM (DVD random-access memory) is a rewriteable format that uses magneto-optical (MO) technology to offer superb access times, making it great for on-disc non-linear editing. The DR-M10S lets you fast-forward, rewind, and play a DVD-RAM disc even as you're still recording a program in progress.

Blank DVD media comes in 2 capacities: single-sided, 4.7 GB (holding about 17 times as much as a CD and around 2 hours of high-quality audio and video) and double-sided, 9.4 GB.

The DR-M10S offers several technical features to boost image quality, including JVC's Super MPEG encode pre-processor, a 3-step process that takes place before MPEG-2 encoding of a given input signal. A time-base corrector eliminates jitter, a frame synchronizer provides frame normalization, and motion-active noise reduction provides a clearer image than do conventional frame-noise reduction techniques (such as 3D noise reduction).

Super MPEG Post-Processor enhances playback image quality through block noise-reduction circuitry. Color DigiPure provides 3D noise reduction along with color and detail enhancement, and Hadamard noise reduction eliminates so-called mosquito noise.

Conveniences include live memory, which allows fast forwarding, rewinding, and slow replay even during recording (DVD-RAM only), and DVD Navigation, which stores information for around 1,300 recorded programs. Navigation data includes disc number, title, and other details. Load a disc, and DVD Navigation will display a thumbnail of recorded programs to help you easily identify content. The thumbnail image can be animated with sound when selected with the cursor.

Other features include quick skip for skipping 30 seconds forward, instant/one-touch replay that replays the last 7 seconds of a given program, natural reverse playback, and a multi-brand remote control.

Connections include an i.Link (DV) input for direct digital connection with a compatible camcorder; front and rear S-Video and composite-video inputs with accompanying stereo analog audio inputs; video outputs for component-video, S-Video, and composite-video; and one each optical and coaxial digital-audio outputs for Dolby Digital/DTS 5.1-channel passthrough to a multichannel audio/video receiver and speaker system. ... Amazon.com Product Description

JVC's RX-DP15 7.1-channel receiver uses zero interference technology with separate block construction including dual heat sinks and separate transformers for analog and digital circuits, all incorporated to remove any interference within the receiver. This receiver has a C.C. (Compression Compensative) converter and a 24 bit/192kHz P.E.M. D.D. D/A converter to reproduce any CD or DVD signal the way it was intended to be heard. K2 Technology is also used, which incorporates enhanced algorithms for improved sound quality.

The RX-DP15 also has multi-room/multi-source capabilities allowing you to watch or listen to two different video or audio sources in two different rooms with the use of its RF remote control. Finally, this THX Ultra 2 certified receiver has THX Surround EX Decoding built in with 7 independent amplifiers along with Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital EX, dts, dts-ES (Discrete 6.1/ Matrix 6.1), dts NEO:6, dts 96/24, and Dolby Pro Logic II decoders built-in for theater quality surround from digital sources.

JVC's Text Compu Link is built in and ties together JVC receivers with JVC CD changers, MD recorders, and your TV so that you can enjoy music the easy way. You choose the track you want to play from a list on the TV screen. You can even give tracks you own titles and search by performer, title, or genre. It shows text data (performer name, disc title, and genre) of CD-Text CDs on the receiver's display as well as on the screen of your TV. It also has AV Compu Link providing simple one touch operation between your JVC audio and video components. With AV Compu Link you can pop a pre-recorded VHS tape into the VCR or DVD into the DVD player and it will automatically power up your receiver and your television and then turn them each to the proper inputs.

A full complement of AV inputs/outputs (including component and S-Video, seven digital inputs, and a digital output) makes it easy to connect all of your digital and analog components. The digital AM/FM tuner allows for up to 15 AM and 30 FM presets so you can quickly find your favorite stations. And for those times when you can't use your surround speakers or just want a little privacy, there's a headphone jack available on the front panel.

1-0 out of 5 stars Keep away from JVC DV
I purchased this model in the June of 2003 and by May 2004 it is in Safeguard mode. I was extremely careful with it and used it a moderate amount. After researching in google a bit, I found hundreds of others complaining about the same problem not only for this camera but for other JVC models - some people are even organizing a class action lawsuit. The camera - without this problem, was decent, but I recommend getting a removable mic because all of my footage has recorded the camera whir - a problem you'll have with about any built in mic. I highly recommend staying away from JVC!

1-0 out of 5 stars Camera is not any good.
I am telling you people this camera was a waste of money. I urge you please consider a sony or some other brand. This camera has really nice features when they work. I keep getting this condensation message that comes up and will never go away. Also the tape always get stuck our and cannot automatically retract. This camera has went for service 3 times and THEY CANNOT FIX IT!!!!! Please condiser a sony. Dirt can record better video then this camera.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mini only in size
At this price I bought two - I bought a 5 hour battery from ebay and this tiny camera churns out great big video.

I use it in school for making student produced videos - easy to work and fits the hand comfortably.

4-0 out of 5 stars SD card issue
I am happy with the camera but my experience was different from "An Electronics Fan" from Bend, Oregon.

I tried to use the camera with a SanDisk 128mb SD card. I the resulting image looked like video noise. I thought the camera was defective, but a replacement unit showed the same result.

I have since located a 32mb SD card, and the unit works fine with it. I am trying to find some 64mb cards, but it seems like retail stores are mostly carrying the larger capacity sizes. If you plan on making heavy use of the digital still capability, you might want to stock up on the lower capacity cards.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not bad
JVC recommends using a 64mb SD or MMC memory card for this camcorder. Please note that a 64mb card with this camcorder will give you a little over 200 pics.

JVC stated that any SD or MMC card that was bigger than 64mb may cause distortion and is not recommended.

Well, that was a bit disturbing, considering that I had recenty purchased a PNY 256 mb SD card. (which I was half tempted to return)

Regardless of the what I was told, I attempted the use of the PNY card. Sure enough, it worked fine. Pictures can be a bit grainy, but it is certainly not any worse than the 64 mb MMC card I tried.

By the way, the PNY 256 mb SD card will take 818 pics. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

This strikingly modern audio system (think Robocop) is ideal for a day at the beach, an afternoon in the backyard, or even a night on the sofa. Unlike many portable systems, the MX-GB5 packs plenty of power, with 460 total watts split among two G-Max Hyper Power-Drive subwoofers (160 watts x 2) and two main speakers (70 watts x 2). The subwoofers give the unit punching bass, which is further amplified by the RhythMax tone booster, the Extended Super Bass option, and the trio of live surround modes (dance club, hall, and stadium). Also included are several individual music modes--one each for pop, rock, and classic, plus three custom choices.

The system holds up to three CD in its rotating carousel and is compatible with CD, CD-R/RW, and MP3 formats. However, it also records music on its dual cassette deck with full-logic controls, and also plays the radio on its AM/FM tuner with 45 total presets (30 FM and 15 AM). The cassette deck includes CD synchro recording, which synchronizes the cassette deck and CD player to ensure that recording starts at the exact same moment as playback, along with the convenience of play exchange, which ensures that the current CD continues playing even while the listener adds new ones to the carousel. Other user favorites include a programmable wakeup and sleep timer; a demo mode; Compu play; continuous, random, and repeat play for one or all three discs; and a rotary encoder volume control. Signal transfer is coordinated by the 1-bit dual DAC.

The system is designed as a standalone unit, though it does include a front auxiliary input and a headphone jack.

1-0 out of 5 stars Beware - low quality and need to make more purchases!!
We bought this as an upgrade to our VHS camcorder we got 6 years ago. I wanted to be able to edit our videos in the computer. After my first filming, I quickly learned this camcorder has poor zoom quality (if you zoom in too close it gets fuzzy) and very poor audio as you can hear the motor running on playback. When I wanted to hook the camcorder up to the computer to try to do some editing, I discovered the cable you need to hook the two together is not included. This is an extra $30 purchase. Either put more money into a better quality camcorder or save your money until the better quality lower in price!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome gadget
Mommy and Daddy bought me this camera at Best Buy. I love the sounds it makes similar to the E.T. ride with the beeping sounds. I give it a 5 star rating by PG, R and Y.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great value!!!
I was looking for an inexpensive digital camcorder (i do own a very good digital camera) and this fit the budget perfectly. Its very easy to use on auto mode (it does have a manual mode for savvy users) and the video quality is great even indoors on dim light situations. The audio quality is good (though the mic is not external) and there is no motor noise that i've seen people complain about in other camcorders.

Pros:
Great quality, incredible value, easy to use.

Cons:
Remote control for play back. ... Read more
