5-0 out of 5 stars Great For Boys Who Are Very Smart And Being A Gentleman
I might get this thing if I get an A in my Englih, Math, Computer, and Dance class. I also can get this thing if a lot of girls like me a lot at school. One of my girlfriends say to me that if I learned how to be a gentleman and get an A in my English, Math, Computer, and Dance class, then a lot of girls like me a lot, and then I can have lots of girlfriends. So, I will buy it when a lot of girls like me. If a lot of girls love to dance with me, then I would bring the JumpDrive with me to the dance with the girls. I would also bring it with me when I go to a party with the girls. You should buy this JumpDrive for your son if your son is being a gentleman, very smart, and many girls liked him. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Was it worth it?
Picked this up and a 256MB jumpdrive for my wife. She had NO issues with getting MP3's from her MAC to the drive. Pretty much figured out how to use it and is happy with it. There are 2 small issues with this though.
1. It is difficult to access the menu (to change backlighting, etc). Anyone else have this issue?
2. When using the play music randomly, it's not very random. My wife was real disappointed in that.

But for $40 for the player and $25 for the swappable USB memory pretty good deal.

2-0 out of 5 stars Questionable reliability, frustrating support
The idea is great. The execution is not.

My JumpGear MP3 worked with one JumpDrive Sport (512MB) but not with another (256MB). Both JumpDrives work with my PC (although only through a USB hub, neither was recognized by the primary USB ports, but that's another story).

So, three Lexar products, two "good" JumpDrives but one doesn't work with the JumpGear. For a product that invites you to swap multiple JumpDrives in and out, this is a real problem. Prime suspect would be either the JumpGear USB connector or the JumpDrive 256 USB connector -- but unless both connectors are good for the long haul, this product will not live up to its promise.

Lexar Customer Support did call back, as promised, spent most of their time attempting to replicate the problem on their end, and offering to replace the JumpGear if it did't work with their JumpDrive (a 50/50 proposition, based on my experience). They are only authorized to handle RMAs. They are not equipped (or interested) to figure out what was wrong.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great value for the cost
Sometimes the most useful things are the simplest ones, and this little guy fits that category. The controls are simple and straightforward, the buttons are rugged rubber, and the battery life is exceptional if you turn off the backlight. The earbud headphones that are included are sturdy but may lack a little in reproducing bass sound; I plugged in a larger pair of Sony headphones that I use on my computer and the sound quality from this guy was equal to listening to MP3s on my PC. I could fit about 50 songs on a 256MB card, which is enough to last me a week before I want to change them. And reloading songs from a PC is *so* easy with the USB technology. Make no mistake, this isn't an iPod, but it's very small, easy to use, and very practical. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Flash Drive
So far I am happy with Lexar's Sport JumpDrive. I have the 256mb and the 64mb versions. Once you get the rubber cap off it works well (many people knock the rubber cap but it is there for a reason).

5-0 out of 5 stars Terrific!
I love the design of this drive. It is slim, and has a rubber cover. You can hang it around your neck, or stick it in your pocket. Very rugged, and as far as I'm concerned, it has the best design of any of the drives I have used. I would not hesitate to recommend this drive, as it has worked flawlessly for me. No drivers to install, just plug it in. I am thinking about getting the 512 Sport now!

5-0 out of 5 stars Works great--simple, sturdy, and flexible
I use this thing to carry files to and from work. It works flawlessly with no drivers needed on a PC running Windows XP and on a Mac G4 running OS9.2. I've also loaded it up with MP3 music to play on a portable jumpdrive MP3 player, which also works flawlessly. Unlike another review that I've read, this one works fine in the remote USB port on the Mac's keyboard, I don't have to plug it into the back of the G4. The slim design means it fits in easily beside other USB cables when the ports are spaced close together, as they always seem to be. File transfer is fast fast fast on a USB2 port. The rubber case is really sturdy--I've attached it to my keys so that I can dump it in my pocket and forget about it until I need it, and it's always right there. The "sport" concept is a really good idea--it's sturdy and rugged and can handle bouncing around with coins and keys as I go about my daily life. No special software needed, works on different platforms, rides in my pocket, tough enough that I can forget about it when I'm not using it--what more could you ask for? It's perfect.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love it....it fits in nicely in a crowded hub
I just bought mine today, and I wish I had 3 more! I had been satisfied with the Purple one and the Blue one, but their bulbous shapes make it difficult to use in a 4 or even 7 port USB hub....you have to jockey the others around in order to get space for those. Not with the Lexar Sport! It's slim shape allow it to fit right in. And I LOVE the fact that the lid is rubber, and fits around the drive sturdily. A chain or lanyard holds onto the lid, so you take the drive off and use, then replace. Why didnt they think of this before? I cant tell you how many of the other lids I have lost, misplaced, stepped on, leaving the USB ports naked. Thanks Lexar for designing this one!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent! But I wish I'd bought 512MB!
I bought 2 of these flash drives because of its price (less than $60) and for its flexible rubber cap that wraps around the whole drive, so losing the cap is a near impossible. I am using it as a permanent part of my toolkit as a PC repair technician, wearing it around my neck. It is also small and thin: not much larger that Sandisk's USB drives.

Due to the size of files I transfer on a day to day basis, I think I have to buy Lexar's 512MB drive instead very soon.

Only one grouse with the drive: no lanyard in the package!! but it is THE best brand to buy in terms of design. Well done, Lexar! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Over 200 times bigger capacity than a floppy disk
Hello, this is Chen Yee. I'm 16 years old, and I go to Fort Vancouver High School. I'm in sophomore. Before I'm in sophomore year in high school, I asked my dad to buy me the 256MB Sandisk Cruzer Mini. He bought it at Costco for $50.00. It's a nice flash drive. He bought it for my last August. Right now I had the 256MB for 9 months right now. This summer, I will buy the 512MB JumpDrive by Lexar Media. Then it will be twice bigger capacity than the current one I have. I usually use my JumpDrive to save documents, usually school work, reports, and homework assignments. When I am in junior year in high school, I will show the 512MB JumpDrive to my classmates and say "I got twice big capacity than the previous one last year." ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing convenience in: Linux, Windows, Mac, whatever!
I bought the Lexar Media 256 MB JumpDrive because I needed something that was quick and held more data than a floppy. The JumpDrive is perfect. It is compatible with PCs and Macs (as long as you plug it into a USB port with enough power) and needs no drivers (Win98 the exception). Linux (kernel 2.4 or greater) with the correct usb modules also automatically recognizes and mounts this flash drive.

It is also very fast. My computer is not new enough to have the high speed USB 2.0 that would get full speed out of this drive, but even with the older USB I was able to get about 12 MB/s.

I highly recommend this specific flash drive. I bought it because it has been highly reviewed everywhere I read. Amazon.com with its free shipping offered the best deal. Cheaper (by about $20) USB flash drives can be found, but they can only use the slower USB 1.1 transfer speed. I'd recommend buying this latest USB 2.0 drive, which is still backwards compatible with the old standard.

2-0 out of 5 stars Performance Bad For 2.0 Device with WinXP - Caveat Emptor
SEE IMPORTANT NOTE AT BOTTOM (Updated 9/18/03)
----------------------------------------------

I own an Iomega 128MB Mini Drive (USB 1.1) and wanted something bigger and faster (I have 6 USB 2.0 ports on a new Dell). As soon as I tried the Lexar I could not believe how slow it was in WinXP SP1. The Iomega's performance beat it by a wide margin. Before you shrug me off as a malcontent, hear my tale and look at my benchmark numbers.

My introduction to the Lexar was filled with enthusiasm. 200MB in < 50 seconds, the package said! I copied a 43MB directory using Windows Explorer drag and drop. It took 5+ minutes compared to 1 min 30+ seconds on the Iomega USB 1.1. I repeated the timings; little change.

I went on to spend 4 hours or so on the internet at Lexar's site (no downloads, no user tips, worthless), Microsoft's site (informative but no help), and hours on Google. After a pathetic Lexar chat session that aborted, I called them and we decided that the Lexar might be defective. Took it back to OfficeMax for a replacement, and the replacement ran just as badly.

I diddled with my WinXP system for a couple hours removing some suspect drivers from Iomega and Veritas, changed my CMOS to disable "USB Emulation", made sure the Device Manager Policies tab was set to "Optimize for Performance", turned off McAfee AntiVirus, and other tweaks. In all, no improvement whatever!

Before taking the Lexar back to OfficeMax, I tried two other things: 1) Downloaded the WIN98 drivers and ran the device on my 5 year-old Dell with Win98 and USB 1.1; 2) Found a WinXP system totally unrelated to mine and did a benchmark there.

1) My old Dell with the new drivers ran the same 43MB copy in only 1 min.34 secs on the Lexar (big improvement over WinXP and 2.0 ports), but then the Iomega Mini Drive improved as well to 1 min. 10 secs.

2) Just now came back from Best Buy who let me use a Compaq Presario with equivalent memory and processor speed (not that this is that important) and with 6 "Certified" USB 2.0 ports, running also on WinXP SP1. I copied a 24MB directory from their C: drive in 54 secs. on the Iomega Mini Drive and a whopping 2 mins. 26 secs. on the Lexar JumpDrive. (According to Lexar's packaging this should have taken 6 or so seconds.) And, yes, I did remember to set the Policies to "Optimize for Performance".

The only conclusions I can draw from all this are: 1) The Lexar 2.0 can't come close to Iomega's 1.1 Mini Drive and their USB 1.1 Zip 250, except on a system with USB 1.1 ports. 2) there might be "bad blood" between the Lexar and either WinXP or 2.0 hardware. I lean toward there being a flaw in WinXP SP1. It would be nice if the vendors could supply their own drivers (tested) for Win2000/XP.

I'm not trying to disparage Lexar since other 2.0 mini or flash drives could perform as badly. I just tried a SanDisk Cruzer Mini 2.0 and obtained similar poor performance and I saw a newsgroup posting complaining about a Sony Micro Vault 2.0.

My advice to you: Buy your drive from a vendor that will provide a quick 100% refund, benchmark the drive you select against a name brand 1.1 version (especially if you have 2.0 USB ports), don't pay a premium for a 2.0 drive if you have 1.1 USB ports. And ... be wary of the hype on the packaging. USB 2.0 means many different things.

(ADDENDUM 9/18/03)
What I've said above is still true but I've pretty much isolated the problem to WinXP and the buggy way it handles FAT and FAT32. I formatted my PNY Attache 2.0 as "NTFS" and the performance took a quantum leap upward. Unfortunately these drives come formatted at FAT or FAT32. So ... if you're having slow performance and don't need portability to non-NTFS computers, this will likely give you an unbelievable boost.

Those of you who raved about the performance of this device (with the default FAT format) are probably only copying a single large file. Try copying a directory with 500 small files and you'll likely agree with me. Hopefully Microsoft will fix this problem and I'll pull this negative review.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great value for the money!
This is a fantastic piece of technology and I really like it. I originally purchased the Lexar 128 Megabyte Jumpdrive, but used it so much I ended up buying this one and keeping the other as a spare at home.

If you think about it, there really are only 4 ways to exchange technology between computers (for the average person).

You could use a floppy drive -but they are not standard anymore on next generation computers, and they only hold 1 megabyte of infomation -hardly enough to handle more than a picture or two.

Or, you could use a Zip drive. But here's the problem. You now have 100, 250, and 750 megabyte drives, and though you can read any of the older zip disks with a newer drive, you CANNOT WRITE ON THEM (and the reading process is REALLY slow). I made this mistake, and I am stuck with a 750 Megabyte drive that no one else has, so I can't do much more than backup my own data.

Or, you can burn information to a CD-rom and move it that way. Yes, you can do this, IF you have a burner and a blank cd on the computer you need data from, but that very likely may not be an answer either for casual transfers.

Amd finally, what I had been using most of the time, email. You can realistically email up to 3-5 MB of pictures or files. Pretty easy to use, and everyone has it, but not a solution for photos or large files.

This is where the jumpdrive comes in -and I think it is the perfect replacement. It is the size of your little finger and (this version) holds 256 MB! Best of all, the price has come down to a point that it is a great value.

Here's how it works. You pull of the cap and plug the drive directly into your comuter's USB port. (You don't need any software or drivers to preload -you just plug it in to any computer.) When it is plugged in the computer automatically recognizes it as a new drive right on your desktop. I.e. Go to your "My Computer" section and it now shows up as "Lexar Media (H:)" You then treat it like you would any other drive -you can save files to it, or you can just drag and drop files to it.

Here's another cool thing about the Lexar version of this drive. There is a little green light on the memory stick that lights up and blinks when it is first plugging in, and also when it is loading data. This will prevent you from removing the stick before the data is loaded -which is usually something that happens very quick!

I am very happy with this portable drive. It is something that is effortless to use, and is small enough that it can basically hang on your keychain so you have it wherever you need it. (In fact, there is actually a hook on the top of the drive so you can clip or hook it to whatever you want.)

The only thing to keep in mind is that it is a little small, and can get misplaced easily. If you are not going to carry it with you (with your keys), I'd recommend putting it somewhere that you are not going to forget, or tying a bulky keychain to it so it can't get lost.

Finally, it is something that I can feel confident that even non-techies will be able to use with ease -in other words, this is what mom and dad get for Christmas!

1-0 out of 5 stars Got it replaced, NONE working!!
I got one last year and it quitted in a few month. After replacing with Lexar, it stopped working again in a month!!
It is totally NOT reliable and I lost all my data!!

I do not think this is a good choice.

4-0 out of 5 stars Works good.
I bought this to store my thesis and some important school documents, as well as trasnferring some data from my laptop to desktop. This flash drive should be USB 2.0 compatible, however, it makes my laptop crashes whenever I plug it in my USB 2.0 cardbus. Well, it does work well with the original USB 1.1 of my laptop. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great entry MP3 player!!!Bought for my son.
I purchased this for my 9 year old son for Christmas 2004.In making my decision I liked that it played MP3 / WMA formats, that it did take batteries (youngsters don't always plan ahead to recharge those lithium ones), that it had external / expandable memory.I figured worst case scenario, if it did get broken, at least the jump drive could be useful. You can't beat the price for this set of features. It also sounds good (if your not an audiophile) or at least good enough for the gym and car rides.I should know because I've been caught borrowing it many times.
CONS:no wrist strap/armband/clip included. The operating instructions could have been more informative.
OVERALL:Excellent value.

4-0 out of 5 stars Lexar JumpGear/ with 512MB JumpDrive Sport
It's pretty good except my major question is how do you view the bookmarks and why can you only delete them? Is there any way to play them? Well besides that it shows all files even MP3 files in big letters until you play them. Also it has no recording or FM but it's OK.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding, especially for the price
Well, the JumpGear MP3 player for Lexar JumpDrive Sports normally sells for about $35 on its own. Toss in a 128MB JumpDrive Sport for a tad more and this is an outstanding deal.

Depending on uses, you might normally want a USB JumpDrive that's larger in size than 128MB (say 256MB, 512MB, even 1GB), but this is a great way to get started for a great price. (Heck, a 128MB JumpDrive as it is is almost 100x capacity of a floppy disk, and you can't beat JumpDrive Sports when it comes to sturdy USB drives.)

I have no major complaints with the MP3 "add-on" other than that it comes without any form of clip or lanyard -- Lexar separately sells a JumpGear clip-on "wallet" for about $10.

All in all, an outstanding deal for a flexible 128MB mp3 player that's also able to be upgraded in size. If mp3's are transferred at 64 kbps (which is fine and acceptable), you're looking at 4 hours of music on this thing, not to mention being able to use the JumpDrive for files, etc.

I adore my own so far, and consider Lexar the best I've encountered when it comes to USB drives, Compact Flash cards, etc.

Fully recommended as one of the best value deals I've seen in awhile. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The 'Super Floppy'
The Iomega drive used expensive media and many computer's didn't have one. The LS120 format never caught on. CD-R & CD-RW can be a pain when you're only recording small programs. Also, CD's are larger and normally require that you carry them around in their own protective case. These are some of the reason's why the Floppy Disk has hung around soooo long. So what's the product that may finally supplant the venerable Floppy Disk (Dell has already made floppies an option on many of their computers)? I think that you're looking at it.

I own this Lexar 128 JumpDrive and think it's performance/price ratio is awesome. Almost every modern computer has a USB input, so this solves the format/compatibility problem. The size is extremely small and durable, which makes product excellent for transporting. USB 1 is good for about 10MBPS, so you can fill up all 122.5MB of this drive in a couple minutes (yeah, it's not quite 128MB as you'd be lead to believe). Finally the software/drivers (5MB download if you have Win 98) work like a charm.

This is an excellent product solution and if you are looking for any negatives, these are the only items I would consider worth pointing out: drive is not quite 128MB, some larger EXE files are larger than 122.5MB and therefore will not fit on this drive, and finally, although unit is very compact, the dimensional width of the JumpDrive may suck up 2 USB ports in horizontal USB configurations (e.g. - your notebook).

5-0 out of 5 stars A Favorite Gadget
This device has the same flaws I mentioned in my review of the 64MB model: awkward write-protect DIP switch, loose cap and no encryption/security features (although it isn't advertised as having any, you may have need of them). Storage capacity is not an issue as it was with the 64MB model, but the USB 1.1 transfer rate does become noticeable when transferring large amounts of data. If you can take advantage of a USB 2.0 device, getting the Lexar 256MB model bears some consideration; without the 2.0 accessibility, I wouldn't consider a device with more storage than 128MB - if I needed to transfer more than that amount, I'd burn it to a multi-session CD-R.

I find my 128MB JumpDrive to be incredibly handy and have used it for transferring files and utilities from one PC to another as well as directly played MP3s from it (using WinAmp and WMP). My wife has a laptop and frequently places a second battery in the floppy-drive bay: the JumpDrive is the easiest way to transfer files between my desktop and her laptop in this configuration.

If you're looking for a relatively inexpensive Christmas gift for the geek in your life (or you are a geek and your grandmother gave you a nice check this year instead of socks), consider getting this gadget. You're likely to love it as much as I do.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice Drive
I have used this drive for about a year. It's great for transfering files from a Mac to a PC. You get 120MB of usable memory. It did just fail me, but I sent it in for repairs and got it back in 5 days. It will take longer to transfer and delete a whole bunch of small files (like jpegs) than large files. Overall, I have found this a very useful device.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not as Good as Other Drives
The price seemed right on this drive but performance is lacking. Like other thumb drives, it simply plugs into the back of your computer and becomes an instant hard drive.

This drive, however is poorly designed. The cap fits in only one direction, the pocket clip (attached to the cap) pushes the cap off if used, there is no included extension cable, there is no point for attaching to a neck cord, key chain etc.

I have also had trouble with performance. I can't seem to get more that about 95MB onto this thing without is complaining that the drive is full. This might be a bad chip but a manufacturer that lets an item out with more than a 25% shortage is probably not one you really want to deal with.

Take my advice and look for other drives (my current preference is by GE).

5-0 out of 5 stars Insanely useful!
I've kept this in my pocket for four months now with no problems. It solves all my "sneakernet" needs. I've carried stuff from work to home, mac to pc. I threw away six 100meg zip drives from my office because the jumpdrive made them obsolete. Sorry Iomega! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Works great, but a bit big.
This product works great. I stuck an old 8mb Memory Stick into it and it worked right away. My Windows XP laptop recognized it within seconds, and it also worked on another XP machine I tried it on. I gave it for stars because:

PROS:
*It works great at what it's supposed to do.
*Its about 3 times faster than a Zip disk (250MB USB).
*As soon as I get more money, I can easily upgrade its storage capacity, which is impossible with most USB Thumb drives.

CONS:
*It is made of relatively flimsy plastic, and the cover for the memory stick is always coming out when you try to unplug it.
*It is about twice the size of my Lexar Media 256MB Jump drive, because it has to have space for the memory that you put in. This large size can be a problem if there are things plugged in surrounding ports, but a cable is included that solves this problem.

All in all, this device is a good solution for somebody who wants a thumb drive, but cannot afford the expensive, high capacity ones. You can use a memory stick/card from an old digital camera, and purchase more memory at a later date.

4-0 out of 5 stars it works
I use this device with memory stick from my Sony digital camera. It works as advertised -- no hassels, nothing. I didn't give it 5-star for two reasons:
1) the plastic casing is cheap and fragile
2) the size of the casing make it difficult to plug into some USB ports if there is another port (USB, mouse, keyboard, whatever) near by.

3-0 out of 5 stars It's useful, but not very sturdy and I keep losing the cap
I like this because it reads the SD cards in my digital camera, but I am not using for a portable thumb drive like I thought I would.

The main reason it hasn't turned out to be a device I use everyday is because the cap keeps falling off. I have to keep it in its own pocket in my bag because otherwise the cap gets lost. Also, I found it popped open once (exposing my SD card) which really concerned me. The other reason I don't use it all the time is that it's so big, I have to connect it to a short USB extension cable to fit it into a USB port alongside other devices. (But a short USB cable was included -- very nice.)

Rather than being indispensible, this device turned out to just be my backup card reader. Usually I just use my SimpleTech Mini FlashLink for a card reader, which is a sturdier and simpler card reader (even though it's not USB 2.0.)

4-0 out of 5 stars Works with no problem
I've had it for about 6 months...no problems at all, other than the fact that the cap broke because it's made of cheap plastic (scotch tape is holding it together). It's a bit bulky, and you can't plug in another USB device when it's plugged in, but no reason not to buy it. No regrets.

5-0 out of 5 stars The cap actually stays on!
I've had a few thumb/keychain hard drives. The most frequent annoyance? The cap always comes off. Many of them actually connect to your keychain (or whatever) by the cap, which means that when the cap comes off, you've lost your data and your drive, too. Not with this one. The cap really will stay on, because it's connected by a giant rubber band which has it's own groove within the entire perimeter of the device.

The other main thing that I really like about this device is that it's tiny. It looks small when you just have it hanging around, but when you take off the cap, it is both thinner and shorter.

I really do like this device, but I wish that it and other devices like it would come with a short USB extension cable, because it's not quite small enough to fit into a USB port on the back of a desktop when there's another USB device plugged in right next to it. No biggie, but it would be nice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wished I got a bigger storage size
USB drives are all about the same anymore, so the rubber cap that wraps around the key is definately a cool feature. I've had no problems with this drive. The wraparound is durable and snug inside a groove and I've never noticed the drive coming out of the cap unless I pulled it out. The activity light is helpful.

I'm saving to get another.

5-0 out of 5 stars Indesfriggingstructable!
You're wondering why you'd want a durable rubber cap? It's not just a cap. It's a rubber loop that secures your precious flashdrive from getting lost. The little thingy on the bottom? It's so you can peel the rubber off so you can release the drive. As for the drive, it's Lexar! Lexar has everyone else in the flash memory industry under their thumbs. I've had this turkey for a month and it's had ZERO hiccups.

And, for those that still use Win98, you can get drivers at Lexar's website.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great so far!
I just got this drive, but so far so good. Nice secure cap that wraps around the entire drive. It is small enough that nothing needs to be removed from ports to either side. Works great on my Macs in OS X, as well as OS 9. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Thanks!
I would just like to say thanks to all the great people who take time to write such excellent reviews. I just bought this Lexar JumpDrive based on the reviews it got, and am completely bowled over by this tiny gadget that holds so much stuff and is so easy to use. Thanks, everyone!

5-0 out of 5 stars I wrote a previous review...still great but some advice...
I wrote a rave review about this product on 8 Dec 03. I continue to rate this product 5 stars even though the last 6 weeks I had problems with it. I want to share what I discovered with whoever purchases this product....I am an experienced communciations engineer. I work in the field and right now I am in Asia - its always dirty where I work. Second, my JUMPDRIVE started giving me problems and I wrote 8 messages to Lexar support asking for help/advice..I got back 1 message which was a "canned" message and did not even reference my problem. Do not count on their support group for help. I tried everything to repair it (new USB drivers, new USB hardware ports, different computers, reformats...) but the problem was intermittent sometimes it would work and sometimes not. The FINAL day before I was going to end its life with a hammer I discovered the problem. I decided to open it up and look for bad solder joints...but before I did so and as I was looking where to crack it open I realized that the "write protect switch" (which is a very small opening)had collected some dust in/on it. I moved the switch back and forth with a few times with a paper clip to clean the contacts and BINGO! It works perfect again. I have since put a single wrap of black electrical tape over the write protect switch to keep out dirt/dust. I recommend doing this depending on your environment... Nevertheless, it is a great product but very, very bad support for it....probably because it is so good.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Simplest Gadget I've Ever Owned
I saw someone use one of these and bought one on Amazon the same day. Now everyone that sees mine runs out to buy one! Imagine carrying something on a key change that stores the equivalent of 350+ floppy disks! I have used this to transfer all of my files to a new laptop and to copy them over to my home PC. Our color printer blew up this week, so with a deadline approaching, I put several large files on this JumpDrive and took them to a local print shop. I also had a presentation to give with several other presenters. Rather than swap out laptops during breaks and rewire them to the LCD Projector, we just stuck our oversized Powerpoint presentations on JumpDrives and plugged them into the same computer. You just stick it into the USB port of any computer and you're in business! Can you tell I love this thing?!

5-0 out of 5 stars Encrypt your files in case you lose your JumpDrive
I love this JumpDrive! It's a cinch to use and the transfer speed is excellent, once you format it for NTFS as mentioned by another reviewer.

I also used PGP to encyrpt my files in case the drive should fall into the wrong hands. You can get PGP Personal Desktop at www.pgp.com, or there are a number of other encryption programs available. I was worried about a complete stranger getting access to my financial info, but after hours of fiddling I couldn't get the Windows XP Professional encryption system to work (I copied my private key to another computer but it still wouldn't decrypt), so I went to a third-party program.

I keep all of my files, personal and business, including my Outlook personal folders (the outlook.pst file) on this drive. I have configured Outlook on all of my computers to access the outlook.pst file on the JumpDrive directly, to avoid having to copy the file back and forth, and it works seamlessly and quickly.

I work on four computers regularly so for me this solution is much better than using a laptop (I've had bad experiences with laptops!).

I highly recommend this device for yourself or as a gift.

5-0 out of 5 stars ...it is simply great!
Perfect for professional and home use - no fuss, no mess, fast, reliable and reasonably priced...simple a great item. I have attached a lanyard to it and when it is not in my pocket is it around my neck so I ALWAYS have it with me. I have used it with Windows ME, Windows 2000 and Windows XP and within 10-15 seconds it is on-line and working. I am so impressed that I am now looking for a Lexar MP3 Flash Drive so that I can liston to my Russian lessons while I travel. Also, I am now convinced that Flash Drives have matured and the Floppy disk is dead - why bother with them anymore? This is a product that works and it will just get better and better with every development. I think I would prefer that it had a metal case instead of plastic as I am a professional engineer and travel quite a bit so it does take some punishment and I fear that some file that I need while traveling will have been crushed but the plastic is fairly strong and for the price - well - it is simply great. I have no complaints. ... Read more
