5-0 out of 5 stars Center Channel Performance As It Should Be
It's a mystery to me why some are satisfied with realistic dialog from a center channel speaker. As much as 60% of the total audio energy goes to the center channel. It should be capable of accurately reproducing the entire audible range of frequencies. This speaker does just that and does it very well, (except the very lowest - about 80 Hz or below) better than some far more expensive speakers that we auditioned at a retailer. If this speaker does not return to it is worth looking for elsewhere.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great bang for the buck
I can't even remember where i bought this center channel, but for the price i paid it is great. Great sound, great voices, and sure makes my dvd expereince "movie'like" aLl i need now is a sub.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for the money
When I first saw this speaker on Amazon, I thought that it was gonna be a cheap plastic speaker. But, wow was I wrong. This JBL center Channel is great. It has great reproduction of voices and music...

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Speaker at a Phenomenal Price!
The center channel speaker of a home theater system provides the main audio, such as dialogue, of the program being viewed.
The "JBL N-Center II Center Channel Speaker" provides crystal clear voice reproduction, ranging from the faintest whisper to the most raucus yell. With a power rating of up to 150 watts, and 3 decent drivers, it is a nice fit for the average to above average system. ... Read more

The JBL S310 is a 3-way, 10-inch floor-standing loudspeaker with medium-density fiberboard (MDF) enclosure and Elliptical Oblate Spheroidal (EOS) wave guide for wide, even sound dispersion. Technical specifications include a 40 to 20,000 Hz (+/- 3 dB) frequency response, 8 ohms nominal impedance, high 91 dB sensitivity, and 200-watt power handling. The 1-inch pure titanium tweeter and the 4-inch midrange transducer are mounted on a Linear Field Proximity (LFP) bezel that insures a seamless transition between the middle and high frequencies. The 10-inch PolyPlas (polymer-coated cellulose fiber) cone woofer is built on a cast-aluminum frame, which reduces distortion and increases power-handling capability.

Magnetically shielded components allow distortion-free placement near video monitors. A high-temperature, oversized Kapton voice coil and HeatScape motor structure optimize this speaker for playing all types of movies and music. A low-diffraction IsoPower baffle directs the sound power into the room, reducing distortion caused by cabinet vibration. The computer-designed enclosure requires no bracing. The FreeFlow flared port increases bass response without adding unwanted port noise. JBL's S310 speaker is equipped with all-metal, five-way, gold-plated binding-post speaker terminals. This model comes in black ash and includes a two-year parts and labor warranty on the speaker enclosure and a five-year parts and labor warranty on the speaker driver and internal components. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The Year of the Double Christmas
I know I can't talk too much about religion here, but I'm gonna. I'm a Buddhist/Hindu, but I don't attend any worshipping. I grew up a Christian, so that's why I get the occasional Christmas present. Alright, last year at Christmas, I received two of these amazing speakers, and a CD from one of my favorite bands (Fear Factory). It just so happens that Fear Factory are a very brutally heavy electro-metal band, and this was a remix CD, so every track rocked extra hard. I live in a condo, so everyone else around me was just getting up. I plugged these in and whacked "Fear is the Mindkiller" on at top volume. In an instant, people were at my door complaining. I told them I'd turn it down, and I did. One notch. I played it the whole day long. My other five presents were opened the next day. One of them was another Fear Factory CD. Anytime you want to annoy your neighbors or are missing a concert in a neighboring city (that doesn't happen to me because I live in L.A.) pop something on with these speakers. I've been in many recording studios, and these speakers surpass even some of their sound by a lot. The bass is also amazing, only without too much thumping. They look pretty swanky, too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow, what a product!
The design is very home (or professional) theater oriented. The sound is SOOOO GOOD! I mean these guys actually make the speaker systems you go to the movies to hear movies from.

The S310s equal outstanding imaging, dynamics, and good looks. They actually look better in person than they do in the picture above and they look great in that picture! You could spend MUCH more - but why? These speakers have great bass (but never sound boomy). I bought 5 of them so I could have equal sound in my DD 5.1 / DTS home theater setup. It really has made a difference, as there is much (directional) bass and midrange coming from behind and especially from the all-important center.

CD's sound great (never harsh - just wide-open and free). Use with or sans grills they look cool either way. I've loved (and bought into) JBL's cool approach to speaker design since the 60's. They went through a couple of decades of so-so home systems. However, JBL is back in action with these speakers and they are the BEST I've ever owned. I guess I like 'em - huh?

BTW, The XBOX rocks through these gems!

5-0 out of 5 stars Studio speakers for Home Theater too.
I purchased these speakers along with the Studio Series Center channel speaker for my home system. I was looking for a speaker that would sound great when I was listening to music but wouldn't lack in performance when used in a home theater setting. These speakers have handled everything from Heavy Metal to Classical & from Life is Beautiful to Armaggedon and I couldn't be happier with them. If you are looking for a speaker that can handle these types of applications then look no further. Of course you could always go and spend more on speakers but at this price point there is no equal in my mind.

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth the money !
These speakers are some of the best I've ever heard. They are very clear and still shake everything in our apartment. Now our neighbors really hate us : ) ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A good home theater speaker
I've had these speakers for about 7 months now. These speakers sound the best in a large room with vaulted ceilings, or in a room that doesn't readily absorb the sound as easily. The reason being - they're a tad bit bright and forward sounding. I've tried these speakers in conjunction with 4 different amps - 2 hifi, and 2 Home theater amps, and tested them in 3 different homes with different accoustical properties.

Here's what's good about them - a great-sounding mid-range - female vocals sound astonishingly good. Also these speakers have the ability to effortlessly deliver loads of sound. Bass is good, even without the subs running. You get a flat (even)tonal response without the subs running, which is good. You get a drastic increase in bass output by activating the built-in subs. If you don't run a line-in to the subs portion, the sub-range will run passively through the speaker wire (down to 35 HZ), and the sound will still be good-sounding and even. Therefore, unless you're an absolute bass junky, I would recommend saving your money and getting speakers without the built-in subs. If you would like to activate the built-in subs in conjunction with a standard stereo amp (with no LFO, sub-out), you can run line from your pre-outs to the sub line-ins as long as you purchase an external low-pass crossover to place in it's path. There is no crossover built-in to the active sub, since it assumes this speaker will be used for Home Theater applications primarily.

Weaknesses - no built-in low-pass crossover for active subs, but easily remedied by purchasing one and adding it on yourself (only for those using a standard stereo amp/receiver). Also, some prefer home theater subs to be positioned out of the cabinet, for more rumbling effect - whatever preferences may be.
Also, this speaker was designed with too many voice cones - could have easily been a 3-way design. However, as JBL knows, there's "marketing crossovers", and somehow people think that more is better, when in reality, it often isn't. Also, these speakers weight close to 90 lbs, and their plastic legs probably won't take too much abuse before they give out. If you have thick carpet, the pegs will completely sink down, effectively negating the effect of the pegs. Also, the front grill is extremely flimsy, which is pretty common these days. Musically, you may have to find non-bright/ non-forward sounding source components, preamp/amps, to make the sound more listenable for extended periods of time, or else find an ambient space in your house for these monsters - because they throw the sound right at you and wear you out otherwise.

This is a great speaker for self-contained HT. Music applications - Does best with rap, R&B, and other bass-heavy music, if you don't want to bother shopping for additional subs.

5-0 out of 5 stars blow the house down!
These speakers are straight out amazing.

First, in response to the 1-star rating below, which says that the bass is "terrible"... that could not be farther from the truth. These speakers use a powered sub-woofer, and if it's not connected to a sub-woofer output, you will not get the sound you're buying. The little red lights at the bottom turn green when the sub-woofers are activated, which will let you know when eveything's working.

Ok, to the review. These statuesque speakers carry all types of music beautifully. From the most crisp, tear jerking choral pieces, to the heaviest bass-blowing techno trance, to Dolby 5.1 soundtracks, these things sound so good it will make the hair on your neck stand up and cheer! And they look awesome- modern and classy with the screens on, or aggressive and mean with the screens removed (but note, the cases are not real wood... they're actually some kind of metallic plating).

These speakers sound really solid at low volumes (maybe a slight bit too bass-heavy for some tastes on account of the sub-woofer which you can EQ out), but once you crank these speakers up... and don't be afraid to turn that dial up half-way or more... you won't believe what you just bought! The highs really come alive at greater volume, and when I say alive I mean "alive"... it sounds like the performers are sitting on your coffe table!

Also, because they do include a powered sub-woofer, this is a great alternative to 5.1 sound for those that don't have the space for all those speakers (like me). You can take full advantage of the .1 Low Frequency channel with these sub-woofers, and let your amp convert the dolby output to stereo output and it will still sound amazing. You may not hear the bullets whiz by your head at the beginning of Saving Private Ryan, but you won't be disappointed when you hear helicopters flying right by your home!

Spend the cash! You'll love them! They're big enough to hug, and make a great design statement in your living room!!

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm glad I spent the money!
I debated for weeks over whether I really needed new speakers (I'm a practical person with a limited budget) but I decided to splurge and buy these. All I can say is...WOW! I'm really glad I spent the money. I have never heard music or movie soundtracks sound better. I'm listening to each and every CD I own all over again and enjoying every minute of it. This is one of the clearest speakers I have ever heard and the sound is magnificent....smooth, rich and well-defined. If you're thinking of buying these, go for will not be disappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars A top speaker for a great price.
I don't understand the 1 star reviews below. Perhaps their speakers were defective in some way. These speakers are seamless and revealing from top to botom with excellent definition and fine balance. The best from JBL so far.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not Worth the Money at ALL!
I have owned these speakers for a couple months and they sound awful for their price. The Bass is so terrible. If you put a KLH speaker next to it i would pick the KLH. I do not reccomend these speakers at all. Take my word for it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent blast to the buck
JBL S310 II is truly amazing. Sound is crystal clear and the bass is very deep as well. I own two of these and I have configured these as my front left & right speakers. I am using JBL N38 II as surround left & right, which is again a very nice excellent speaker set. The Rear Left & Right speakers are JBL N-Center II speakers. The Center channel is JBL - S - Center II, this unit is very powerful and produces crystal clear dialogues, and it's a 3-way speaker system. JBL 150W PB10 Sub woofer provides the low frequency effects.

All of the above mentioned items are powered and driven by Harmon Kardon AVR 525 7.1 Receiver. Harmon international has done a great job on all of these equipment, the AVR 525 produces crystal clear sound with excellent clarity. Even though this unit produces 70W per channel, it powerful enough to make an earthquake at -10 db.

I am very happy about my investment and the quality service of Amazon and J&R store.

5-0 out of 5 stars angels singing
I have nothing bad to say about JBL. Home speakers from the company that sells speakers to concert halls, rock shows and movie theaters? c'mon, how could you not love these guys? I've got these as my mains in my house, and I nearly cried the first time I heard them. I have never heard a speaker recreate the human voice that well in a home setting. Buy these, or the S312IIs or the S38IIs or ANY JBL speaker and you will not be disappointed. No joke, I use JBLs in the studio too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good all around speaker
I purchased these about four months ago b/c I am an audiophile and I watch a lot of movies. They are powered by a Yamaha RVX730 receiver. The sound quality from these two guys are great, the bass is perfectly adequate and will not make the neighbors wish you never moved in. I think they are slightly better for watching movies as it sounds like you are sitting in a theatre. They seem to be a little rough with music, but that might just be my receiver. For people that are space conscious I would look elsewhere b/c the two speakers are huge. They make my TV look inferior. Overall I am very happy with the purchase and would highly recommend these to anyone looking for floorstanding speakers. Plus they look nice and sleak.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Sound, Even by themselves
I bought these speakers in hopes it would deliver quality sound. Boy was I right. The bass was fantastic, you may not need a subwoofer. The clarity was like crystal. Even without bookshelf and surround speakers, I felt I was actually at a movie theater. The sound was phenominal. I have a sony receiver that powers it. I knew JBL were good speakers. All you really need is good speaker wire. You will not be disappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great sounding speaker at a moderate price.
The components which most affect -- by far -- the sound of your audio system are the speakers. And (except for electrostatic speakers costing thousands of dollars) the best sounding speakers currently available are those in the JBL studio series -- including the S310 II. The S310 II is a superb sounding speaker with sweet, clean highs, a natual-soundiung midrange, and clean, full bass. While it will handle lots of power, it sounds great with moderately-powered amps and receivers. If for some reason you feel that you must have a 12" woofer -- instead of the quite-adequate 10" woofer in the S310 II -- I recommend the JBL S312 II. But the vast majority of people should be quite pleased with the superb sound of the less-expensive S310 II. Highly recommended. ... Read more

JBL's Northridge Series boasts the tag line "Pro Sound Comes Home." From any other company this might seem like marketing hyperbole, but with 50 years' experience building professional speakers and a 70 percent share of the worldwide market, JBL is entitled to boast a little.

The company's Northridge Series is an affordable expression of the company's theater-to-home technology. All Northridge models use 0.75-inch titanium-laminate dome tweeters and woofers made of PolyPlas, a polymer-coated cellulose fiber. The woofers in the all-weather N26AWs have been specially treated and are referred to as WeatherPlas.

JBL's N26AW speakers have many of the qualities--neutrality, detail, and dynamic range--that have made JBL so successful. They use a molded, weather-resistant cabinet with a bow-shaped back that not only looks nice but helps prevent the internal buildup of standing waves that could otherwise degrade the sound.

Other features from JBL's pro line employed here include oversized Kapton voice coils and HeatScape motor structures, which allow the drivers to endure unusually high temperatures. We're not talking a toasty summer day on the patio here, but rather the high temperatures generated by large amounts of amplifier power--hence that 125-watt power handling rating. And because simple signal paths provide the best sound, JBL uses its Straight-Line Signal Path (SSP) crossover networks to divvy up the range of musical frequencies.

Unlike the N26AW's housebound cousin, the JBL N26, which has deep gray cabinets and cloth grilles, the all-weather Northridge models come in a slightly off-white finish with matching metal grilles.

Behind these grilles, each N26AW conceals a single titanium tweeter and a 6-inch woofer that's been dyed silver to match the look of the gleaming tweeter. Pleasingly, JBL uses gold-plated five-way binding posts for its speaker terminals. These not only make for tight connections that won't tarnish, but because they accept spade lugs and banana plugs (in addition to bare wire), they let you use heavier-gauge speaker wires. (Contrary to what many might tell you, wire does makes a difference. You should use, as a minimum, a good 12-gauge oxygen-free-copper wire or consider one of the many specialty speaker cables on the market.)

JBL's vast experience with professional technology pays sonic dividends with the N26AW, which we find to be a substantial cut above most indoor/outdoor speakers. To start with, the dominant midrange frequencies, which contain 80 percent of all music, sound startlingly natural on the N26AWs. To illustrate, vocals have subtle nuances of expression, pianos can be fiercely percussive or caressingly soft, and guitars can be hollow and ringing or, if electric, crunch, moan, and wail.

The N26AWs have a remarkably natural tonal balance, good detail, and rich harmonic structure. They can also throw a wide soundstage, with well-placed sonic images and a decent sense of three-dimensionality (another unusual trait for an indoor/outdoor speaker). This is important in any situation and especially critical outdoors, where a pair of speakers is likely to be placed farther apart than they would be in a room.

Large-scale music, be it high-powered rock or a symphony orchestra, comes across with ease as well as force on the N26AWs, showing off JBL's well-known ability to handle music with wide dynamic range. The high frequencies have nice extension and decent (but not great) air and definition. The bass reaches down to 50 or 60 Hz with good detail and a reasonable sense of weight.

The N26AWs have a most impressive pedigree and many of the qualities that have made JBL so successful in the professional audio world. While by no means big speakers, they remain somewhat larger than most all-weather models, so measure carefully before committing to any installation.

That one concern aside, we love the fact that, with the N26AW, not only has JBL's pro sound come home, it's gone outdoors. --Wayne Garcia

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous outdoor speaker
These outdoor speakers sound absolutely fantastic. They are smooth, detailed, and have unusually good bass response for an outdoor speaker. I have listened to many other outdoor speakers and have heard none better. Highly recommended! But, potential purchasers should be aware that these speakers are quite large and require the purchase of optional mounting brackets for wall or under-eve mounting. I was disappointed that the grills on my N26AW's started rusting after a relatively short period of time, necessitating removing and spray painting them. Still, the sound is so good I feel they deserve a 5 star rating.

2-0 out of 5 stars Large size, small sound
Given these speakers large size and comparatively large price tag for weatherproof speakers, I expected a lot more out of them.

They have a very noticeable overemphasis in the 1Khz to 4Khz range. To hear this, imagine you're listening to a full orchestra, but hearing the sound of a sharp trumpet predominate. It's not as bad outdoors where there's no chance for harmonic resonance, but mostly unbearable in an inclosed space.

With the strength of the upper midrange, I found the speakers to be immanently locatable and provide a minimum of presence. I much prefer my sound to be as if the band or orchestra was floating around me, or at least nearby but invisible. These speakers stuffed the sound into their boxes.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Sound
These speakers have a really great sound for outdoor speakers. They are very well made and attractive to look at. They do not come with mounting brackets, however, which made it a little difficult to hang them. We just had an outdoor party this weekend and got many compliments on them. ... Read more

Benefiting from JBL's acclaimed speaker technologies, the speakers are equipped to handle up to 100 watts per channel with ease and efficiency, and even the lowest-powered integrated amplifiers should have no trouble driving them. High frequencies chime from .75-inch titanium-laminate dome tweeters.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great sound, even better price.
JBL means quality sound, and that doesn't have to come at the price of expensive floor standing speakers. Being 16 and on a budget, finding good deals is a part of life. Whilst the N24II speakers are small, they sound much larger than they appear to be. With an amazingly flat frequency response, the N24II's produce sound well into the 70Hz range. I own a JBL PB12 subwoofer, and they are a perfect match with the crossover set to around 80Hz. The cabinets are nearly a perfect crescent shape, which reduces standing wave buildup in the cabinet resulting in cleaner and tighter bass. I use these speakers in the surround channel aspect of movies and music, but I frequently find myself connecting them to the front speaker outputs of my Kenwood receiver and listening to music. When speakers sound that good, it really doesn't matter where in the room the sound is coming from; back or front. Acoustic music takes on a new meaning with amazingly accurate vocals, thrilling high-frequencies, and ample tight bass. These speakers sound good right out of the box, but sound even better after being properly broken in after 60 hours of use. At such a low price, and with amazing quality of workmanship and sound, go out and buy a few pairs for you and the neighborhood-these are not cheap plastic speakers. You can always achieve great sound with the proper setup.

5-0 out of 5 stars Big sound, small speakers, good price...
Whoever said that couldn't achieve a good sound from little speakers, was wrong. Whoever said that you need a big set of 10 or 12 inch drivers in a floor speaker to sound good, was wrong.
So was I. I thought that good sound was only possible with floor speakers.
These set of little speakers handle music & movies without problems.
I bought this pair mainly to serve as my surround-back speakers for my set. Since I have mainly used them for surround-sound purposes, I had not really given these speakers a chance to show what they are.
Well, I had a party last night and I put them to the test. I connected these to my JBL subwoofer and hanged them on the wall with the brackets outside in the porch. For my surprise, these speakers handled everything I threw on the cd player. From techno to rap, to latin & rock, they did a really good job.
The highs were perfect, mids were there, and lows were as well. Even though the bass was mainly being from my jbl subwoofer, the speakers did handle it well when I tested them without the subwoofer. Come on, for a 4 inch driver, the bass is pretty good.
I was so pleased with the performance, that I'm even thinking about buying an extra pair to connect them in my porch.
I was getting complements from everyone on how good the sound was from such little speakers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best bang for the buck
I can't believe that someone reviewed these speakers so unfavorably. In our home theatre they sound absolutely amazing. I've read technical reviews of these units that extol their incredibly flat frequency response from 18,000 to 90 Hz, and to my ears they are indeed crisp and clear.. We have a high end SVS subwoofer we use with these, and for home theatre, the sound is wonderful. There have been times when we've turned off the subwoofer output of the amp for late viewing, and it still sounds fine. I've often forgotten to turn the sub back on and I'm still pleased with the sound.

We consider them the best bargain in home theatrer!

1-0 out of 5 stars Overpriced and lousy: Avoid like the plague
I brought a pair of these speakers a year ago, and they were quite simply terrible. I initially wanted to use them as primary speakers with my secondary stereo system, and they were awful!!! I then hooked them up as surrounds for my primary stereo and once again they were terrible. They sounded so bad I took them back to Best Buy for a second pair just be sure that the first pair weren't blown. Well, they weren't blown: they were simply pathetic. The bass was virtually non-existent and both the mid and high ranges sounded muddy. Maybe other JBL products are of higher quality than these, but certainly don't buy these. They are quite simply the worst speakers I've ever owned (fortunatly, only temporarily).

5-0 out of 5 stars teriffic sound, great price.
I bought these as the final component of my new system. They make great surround speakers. i havent tried them as fronts, as i ahve a set of Wharfedale Atlantic 400 towers up there. But i did turn them all the way up, and i heard n distortion at all, they put out decent bass, actually shaking a few things off the shelf i had them on. they even come with their own wall mounts, which is extremely helpful. all in all, they put out some great sound, and at a great price. ... Hungry for senses-tingling surround sound but tight on space or funds? You can still get the most from your DVD player and audio/video receiver with this full-range surround-sound speaker system from JBL. The SCS135SI's quartet of stylish silver satellite speakers (left/right front and left/right surround) and center-channel speaker fill a room with sound, while the 100-watt subwoofer rounds out the bottom end, delivering the floor-shaking bass supplied by a program's low-frequency-effects channel (the ".1" in a 5.1-channel presentation).

All speakers are video shielded to allow distortion-free placement on or around a television, and the satellite speakers may be mounted on optional stands, shelves, or the wall (via supplied wall-mount brackets). JBL recommends powering the satellites with 10 to 100 watts per channel--that's enough to enjoy exciting home-theater sound, but those seeking bigger thrills will want larger amplifiers and heavier-duty speakers.

Each satellite houses a 3-inch driver and 1/2-inch titanium-laminate dome tweeters, and the center-channel uses the same transducers as the satellites for seamless blending, but has two midrange drivers for extra power and clarity, since the center channel carries up to 70 percent of a film's sound (including most dialogue). The ported subwoofer uses a large, 8-inch woofer for bass reaching down to around 35 Hz.

The subwoofer offers versatile hookup options: you can feed it a dedicated LFE signal from your compatible surround receiver; you can feed it left/right stereo outputs from an extra pair of audio outs on your receiver or integrated amplifier; or you can wire it directly inline with two of the supplied satellite speakers or even your existing left/right stereo speakers. (JBL provides speaker wire for this purpose, and the detailed instruction book describes the precise hookup procedure.)

5-0 out of 5 stars Great System
I had been looking to expand my home theater system for quite a few months when I came across this system. I had been looking up specs online and going into stores to see how they performed. I have a medium sized room and this system does very well. I already had to large tower speakers and was going to put two of the surround satellites in a box, but instead also bought the JVC 8030VBK receiver which can create 7.1 channel sound with any format, so instead I used them all. The subwoofer produces deep rich sounding bass very cleanly at half volume, it doesn't really distort at higher volumes, but instead tends to take over the sound field of whatever you are listening to. The satellites creates crisp and even highs throughout the room and the center channel provides really clean dialogue. The speakers also come with wall mounts and a lengthy amount of medium gauge speaker wire, which doesn't need to be upgraded and provides really easy wall installation. Overall I am very pleased with the system. Others I compared it too were the JBL 236si with the slightly larger speakers and louder subwoofer, but I found that the smaller speakers actually produced a better sound. I also compared it to the Onkyo HTS760 which almost sounded as good, but whose satellites were almost four times larger, bulkier, and uglier. I also compared it with the Sony Dream system which looked great but leaves a lot to wish for in the sound catagory. For the size, sound, look and price, this system cannot be beat. I recommend it with no reservations.

5-0 out of 5 stars theater sound
Excellent sound quality from these speakers when compared with others. The sound comes out crystal clear and does not even show distortion at higher levels.

5-0 out of 5 stars Happy with performance
The speaker system gives great sound at a fair price. The subwoofer produces more bass than you could ever need. The size of the speakers allow you to place them almost anywhere you want (even mounted as the mounts are included). This system gives us great sound with our DVD's, our HDTV, and our CD's. We think we made a good chose. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent choice for a small room
I am completely satisfied with these speakers. The bass resposbne is somewhat limited but only at highter volumes. In a realtively small room(10ftx15ft) the sound is wonderful as the main speakers for a TV based entertainment system. As I've found with other JBL products, these speakers are more than capable for their intended application. An movie viewer of music fanatic wil enjoy them.

4-0 out of 5 stars Some excellent sounds from JBL
There's not much to say - these things sound great! I was surprised at how much bass theS26II's can produce - I'm able to cut back the subwoofer since I got them. They also have an excellent mid range for a 2-way speaker, very full and warm. For either home theater or music, you can't go wrong with these! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply ROCKS !!!!
I recently purchased a JBL Cinema Pro Pack 600II Home Theatre System and I am very happy with it. It was easy to set up with very good instructions.

The JBL DCR600II-Z 6 x 100-watt receiver powers all of the speakers, including the subwoofer. It offers Dolby Digital, DTS decoding, and our own advanced digital processing algorithm, Logic 7, for enhancing standard surround modes and for creating natural multichannel sound from two-channel music or movie sources. The powerful JBL 2-way satellites and center channel are a perfect complement to the receiver and 8" subwoofer. You won't believe the performance and features you get for the price, there just isn't a better home theater value.

Additional key features:
• Full-function pre programmable remote control
• 6-Channel direct inputs
• 4 Composite video inputs
• 4 S-video inputs
• 1 Optical and 2 coax digital inputs
• 1 Digital coax output

JBL speaker system key features:
• Overall frequency response: 35Hz - 20kHz (-6dB)
• Configuration: 2-Way satellite speakers, video-shielded
• Impedance: 8 Ohms nominal
• Tweeter: One 1/2" titanium-laminate cone
• Midrange driver: One 3" cone
• Subwoofer: 8" woofer in a floor-firing, bass-reflex ported enclosure

So, if you get a better deal, go for this Cinema ProPack 600II without any hesitation!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good System
I have not had the problems that others have had. This system is discontinued, but nonetheless, its a pretty good buy for about $500 or so. The speakers are very good, and the sub is okay, but a little underpowered. I like the DVD player and the reciever is very good for new comers to the Home Theatre world.

4-0 out of 5 stars Cinema ProPack 600II has worked well for over 1 1/2 years
We've had this system setup for over 1 1/2 years with no problems at all. It has a good sound that more than fills a 400 s.f. area (tile floors help). The remote is the only minor complaint, as many others have already mentioned. We're about to add a pair of outdoor speakers to the system and aren't sure yet how to do that (the receiver's speaker outputs are limited to the 5 speakers that come with it) but I'm sure there's a way. We feel we got a good bargain on this system and are very pleased with it.

1-0 out of 5 stars About to go Office Space on this piece of cr@p
I purchased this HTIB back in June of 2002 and was mostly pleased with the picture and sound until late November 2003. Now I experience all of the same problems of the other consumers with poor reviews. With the warranty now over, I'm SOL!

CONS: The system didn't come with a powered subwoofer. The remote, DVD player, and receiver were not at all intuitive to use. The remote had poor ergonomics.

I'll keep the satellite speakers and center speaker from JBL. But, the non-powered sub, receiver, and DVD players are getting replaced. Like my headline suggests, the DVD player is going to pay for its defectiveness.

My advice for newbies to home theatre is to piece together quality components from top manufacturers in each area of a home theatre system.

4-0 out of 5 stars JBL Cinema Pro Pack 600II Owner
I recently purchased a JBL Cinema Pro Pack 600II Home Theatre System and I am very happy with it. The system was easy to set up with very good instructions. The sound is great and I love all of the different sound modes available. I have had no problems with it at all! My only complaint would be that the buttons on the remote control are small and that the DVD and Receiver are large in size. I would purchase this unit again. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars one of the best I've heard
I shopped around for a while looking for the perfect center channel to compliment my system, and the JBL had the best imaging of any I had heard. It was a tough choice between this center and the Cerwin-Vega, but I finally settled on the JBL. I believe I made the right choice.

3-0 out of 5 stars JBL JSR400 review
I found that the jsr400 is a very competent reciever for the price. I was looking for a reciever that could a lot of inputs and this was the best. I use the 2 VCR inputs for audio for my CD recorder and Cable audio connection. The sound is good, but there is no loudness button to boost the sound, and the bass and treble needs some help, luckly i have an equalizer. The remote is great, it has the function including the power function. The bad things is there was no manual when I got the reciver, and I'm still trying to get it from JBL. ... Read more
