Amazon.com Product Description

Samsung's HL-P5063W displays 50 inches of inviting widescreen viewing, elegantly framed in an ultra-light, thin-bezel cabinet. Weighing under 78 pounds and standing less than 15 inches deep, the high-definition-ready HL-P5063W offers more screen and less bulk. But it offers more than just quantity of screen: it's also engineered for quality.

The secret to this DLP (Digital Light Processing) projection set's quality is its Emmy-winning technology from Texas Instruments. Samsung has combined its proprietary Cinema Smooth Gen 3 HD light engine and advanced optic enhancements with a single, postage-stamp-sized Digital Micromirror Device (DMD) capable of generating high-definition video images with film-like resolution, deep blacks, and robust colors. Samsung's Cinema Smooth light engine enhances brightness while ensuring an incredible 1,500:1 contrast ratio.

Texas Instruments' DMD panel is immune to the factors that can cause other displays to deteriorate with use, imparting a longer life expectancy than that of cathode ray tube (CRT) sets, plasma display panels, and liquid crystal display systems (LCD, LCoS, HTPS).

A host of advanced digital interfaces and video inputs make non-issues of connectivity challenges and future proofing. Hang it, mount it, rest it on a stand, or move it just about anywhere, anytime. The screen's surface is nearly 100 percent reflective, and its lightning-quick switching speeds make it twice as fast as earlier designs and nearly 1,000 times faster than competing micro-display technologies.

The HL-P5063W's automatic digital-format conversion system converts any input (whether DTV, analog TV, or XGA computer sources at 1080i, 720p, 480p, or 480i) to a progressive, 16:9 widescreen image with a 1,280 x 720 pixel count. A 3D Y/C digital comb filter dramatically reduces image-edge artifacts while improving transition detail, and the set's HD ultra-fine-pitch (.155 mm) screen further clarifies images, especially when you're viewing high-resolution sources like DVD and HDTV.

Samsung's Cinema Smooth Film Mode 3:2 Pull Down correction circuitry addresses digital distortion in 480i (interlaced) video signals generated from 24 frames-per-second film.

Finally, Samsung DNIe video enhancer (Digital Natural Image engine) works with all analog NTSC and wideband video signals for improvements in contrast, white level, and picture detail, incorporating digital noise reduction to improve lower-quality sources.

The set offers digital-video inputs in 2 formats. A DVI-HDTV interface with HDCP copy protection permits all-digital rendering of video without the losses associated with an analog interface, and an HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) jack channels both digital audio and video to simplify connections with newer DTV set-top boxes and DVD players by reducing hookups to just a single cable and plug.

Other inputs include dual HDTV component-video inputs (480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i) for high-definition satellite receivers, HDTV tuners, and HD cable boxes with component video outputs (Y, Pb, Pr); 3 each composite- and S-video inputs; and 2 RF coaxial inputs for antennas or older VCRs or cable boxes. An audio/video output permits hookup with an external device such as a surround-sound receiver.

A 15-watts-per-channel (x2) audio system with a pair of 2-way speakers comes with built-in SRS TruSurround XT, which simulates compelling surround sound through any stereo playback system, including headphones and the TV's speakers.

Last but far from least, onboard 2-tuner PIP with side-by-side split-screen viewimng grants convenient simultaneous viewing of 2 TV programs, while a supplied universal remote control permits control of the TV, a DVD player, a VCR, and a tuner/surround receiver.

Amazon.com Product Description

The Samsung HL-P4663W combines cutting-edge picture quality with a 46-inch widescreen body that--unlike many other large TVs--doesn't dominate the room. The TV weighs 69.4 pounds and is approximately 13 inches deep, so there's no need to push back the couch to accommodate the chassis. Even better, the flat screen receives breathtaking high-definition content when paired with an external HD receiver, delivering a pixel count of 1,280 x 720 and a 1,500:1 contrast ratio. The elite video performance derives from the Texas Instruments-developed single-panel digital micromirror device (DMD) and DLP projection system, which combine to create a digital connection between the video source and the screen (most other connections are analog). The TV also employs Samsung's exclusive Digital Natural Image engine, which enhances all analog NTSC and wideband video inputs for an overall improvement in picture quality, impacting contrast, white level, and picture detail.

The widescreen format is a favorite among movie buffs and HDTV fans, as the expanded screen offers a truer representation of the original film source. The HL-P4663W adds to the value by converting 1080i and 720p HDTV and 480p and 480i SDTV video signals to a 16:9 widescreen pixel count, letting users enjoy the enhanced format while watching all manner of programming. The TV boasts other impressive technologies as well, including Cinema Smooth 3:2 pulldown (improves the resolution of original film content), a 3D digital comb filter (enhances transition detail), and a bright ultra-fine pitch screen. And because the TV projects onto a single panel only, it eliminates the risk of color aberrations and focus problems often seen on projection TVs with multiple panels or CRTs.

As with many large-screen TVs, this model delights sports fans and TV buffs with its two-tuner picture-in-picture display. Viewers can watch one program on the main screen and another in the small inset window, or they can split the screens in half for simultaneous viewing. Other user favorites include format size adjustment (Zoom 1, Zoom 2, Wide, Panorama, and Normal), color temperature adjustment, a multilingual onscreen menu, previous channel, and V-chip parental control.

The TV is equipped with a 30-watt two-way speaker system and SRS TruSurround XT technology. The latter is a virtual surround engine that plays rich 5.1-multichannel content through two speakers, including internal TV speakers and headphones. TruSurround is compatible with all multichannel formats up to 6.1 channels. The TV also offers no shortage of inputs and outputs, including a DVI digital video input, an HDMI digital audio and video input, and a PC input, along with the usual stockpile of two component video inputs, three composite inputs, three S-video inputs, and a video output. The digital inputs are designed for the next generation of HD receivers and DVD players, which are built to transfer all signals digitally without losing any information via the conversion to analog. The TV includes an S-video and composite input on the side, where it's more easily accessible for game consoles and camcorders.

Amazon.com Product Description

Designed with a mind for affordability, a spirit of convenience, and an ear for quality sound, Samsung's HT-SK6 merges all the source components of a home theater into a single, easy-to-install package. The 500-watt system includes a five-disc progressive-scan DVD changer alongside a THX-certified Klipsch speaker system: four horn-loaded two-way satellites, a two-way center speaker, and a standalone subwoofer. Now you can enjoy classy home entertainment with minimal setup time right in your existing living space.

With 80 watts per channel times five for the left, right, center, and left/right surround channels, you'll enjoy true home-theater power that's bolstered by 100 watts output for the passive subwoofer. The DVD player handles playback for standard DVD-Video, DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3 CD--perfect for commercial and most homemade discs alike. You can even spin your Kodak Picture CDs and JPEG image discs, crafting (on your computer) custom slideshows to enjoy on your living-room television.

The THX-certified Klipsch speakers supplied with the system maximize audio performance from 5.1 computer sound cards and DVD movies alike. The two-way satellite speakers include exclusive Klipsch MicroTractix horn tweeters that cleanly and accurately handle high frequencies. A 3-inch fiber-composite cone driver delivers smooth mid-bass sounds, and the magnetically shielded center channel uses the same Klipsch MicroTractix horn tweeter and 3-inch fiber-composite cone woofer as each satellite speaker, ensuring an ideal blend and seamless sound across the system. The center channel comes with rubber nonslip stabilizing feet, spring-clip wire terminals, and a rear-post adjustment for angle optimization.

Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the HT-SK6's DVD player is ready to deliver the full potential of your DVDs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. Interlaced component-video outputs help minimize digital and line-scan artifacts on compatible advanced televisions, while composite- and S-video outputs bring compatibility with nearly any television.

The HT-SK6's DVD player also performs 3:2 pulldown. DVD mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24-frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture.

And did we mention the system's surround processing prowess? You'll enjoy enveloping audio decoding for both Dolby Digital and DTS/DTS ES 5.1-channel surround formats, as well as Dolby Pro-logic II, which converts two-channel audio tracks from any source into five-channel surround sound.

The system offers additional connectivity in the form of one component-video and two composite-video AV inputs for your existing audio/video components, such as a VCR, cable box, or satellite receiver. Other features include an FM/AM tuner with 30 station presets, supplied FM and AM antennas, and a headphone jack for private listening.

5-0 out of 5 stars What a great deal. Klipsch Speakers compare to Bose
There is no delay, as another review claimed. (Delay is adjustable, based on speaker placement) Excellent sound reproduction. This was a good deal at $500 plus. For $299, it is a steal. Klipsh Speakers are unbeatable, even by Bose standards.

2-0 out of 5 stars Agree on the product, but LOVE the support
Yes these particular set of speakers are not that great, sounds are shallow and lack depth that even $100 PC game system could deliver.

Like thousands other videophilles, I also am a proud owner of the 61" Samsung DLP. I must say, I (and thosands of others) seem to all agree that sammy's customer support are 5 out of 5 top notch and none better.

In this day and age, saying you will never buy samsung product is like saying you will never buy a
Porsche form that garage again because they couldn't fix your metro geo.

EDIT:
Apparently, they run special divison for their high enb products. I call in about a problem with their 400 dvd player and I was treated with the same great services as with my 5 grand TV. However, my first call was made via a google-searched 800 number, and that was horrible. If you want good service, call the speical number provided with the warrenty card. Seems they only want to roll out their "5 star support" for ones with deeper pockets.

1-0 out of 5 stars don't waste your money on a Samsung HT-SK5
The HT-SK5 is a lemon--don't buy it. Although the sound quality is great, the audio doesn't match the video when you're using a digital input, like digital HDTV. So, the lips don't match the words on any digital stations. It made it impossible to watch any HDTV programming, which essentially was why I bought it.

After 3 months of dealing with Samsung's poor technical support, including shipping the product back to Samsung, I learned from Samsung that they can't fix the problem, and they don't have a replacement product that would work better. The only thing more frustrating than the audio sync problem was Samsung's awful technical support. The staff was poorly educated about their own products, they never returned calls or e-mail like they promised, and seemed to have no concern for their customers. Don't waste your money--in fact, Samsung treated me so poorly, I can't recommend buying any Samsung products. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Affordable home theater package
Admittedly I am a novice at home theater setup, but I found the Samsung HT-DB600 fairly simple to set up and use. I got it...at the same price Amazon.com's offering, and it's worth every penny. The first unit I bought, though, quit playing DVD's after a few minutes but the replacement is working fine so far. I couldn't help smiling by the time I got it hooked up and had Lord of the Rings running. Anyway, here are the Pro's and Con's:

PROS
1. Very affordable compared to Sony
2. 5-disc carousel (pretty handy for those couch potatoes out there)
3. Plays nearly every disc format most people use
4. Progressive scan capability makes for excellent picture quality when watching DVD's; I could actually see the pores on Liam Neeson's and Ewan McGregor's skin on Star Wars Ep. I
5. Compatible with most decoding formats
6. 1-year warranty
7. More than adequate 500 watt power - can wake your neighbors up if you wanted to

CONS
1. No fast forward or rewind button, only chapter skip, though it does have slow-motion and repeat
2. The sometimes irritating blue front panel light, which you can dim
3. Remote control doesn't light up (you have to fumble in the dark if you like watching movies with the lights out)
4. Actual unit is on the hefty side because of the carousel; make sure your shelf system will accomodate it

Overall, Samsung gives you more bang for the buck compared to similar products by Sony and Panasonic. I've only had the system for less than 2 weeks, but so far so good. Netflix here I come!

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good system for the price
Samsung seems to have done the job with this system. Plenty of power going through the speakers for a bedroom-size area, although I was close to having it turned up all the way when I was watching my Family Guy DVD's... it did a great job with my movie DVD's like Ocean's Eleven and Pirates of the Carribean and with my Gamecube and Xbox.

Soundwise, the system is great. 5.1 Dolby Digital and Dolby Pro Logic II makes everything I hook up to it sound crystal clear and gorgeous. It's almost as though my ears are throwing a little party... it's just that good.

The system also comes with a 5-disc DVD changer. Working great for me so far, I haven't had a single skip or anything. Although I have come to the conclusion that the screen is flickering a little (I'm using normal composite video hook-ups), and it is not my TV, because my Xbox does not have this problem. I've turned down the brightness on my TV and the flickering is not quite as noticeable, but it is still there. I'm just very technical about these sorts of things...

Picture-wise, I'm going to have to say that my Xbox puts out a more clear picture for DVD's, but my Xbox doesn't have to control power over speakers while it puts out the picture. So it's understandable with the DB600. Perhaps the DB600 just isn't getting enough power, I don't know.

In conclusion, the DB600 is a great system for a small budget. It puts out sound like a pro, as long as you don't need to fill an entire living room with sound. It's perfect for a bedroom, which is what I am currently using it for. Don't buy this system for the DVD player... as it is only adequate. But don't be disheartened by that, as the sound quality makes up for it in a heartbeart.

I have currently owned this system for a week. Noticing all the problems that have been reported by other users, I will make sure to write an updated review later in my ownership. Good luck, and enjoy the system.

1-0 out of 5 stars Sorry excuse for home theater
We have had nothing but trouble with the DVD player since day 1. It locks up on ALL DVDs and in all slots at least once requiring a "reboot" so to speak. You have to turn the DVD player on and off, open and close the drawer, ect. to get anything to play. These same discs play with no problem on our single player on another TV. It's really ridiculous. This is the last Samsung product we'll buy.

4-0 out of 5 stars Functional for Good Price
I am not a sound expert, actually pretty much a newbie to audio equipment. Which means I can't complain about the speaker wire being too thin or receiver missing certain functions that I don't understand and will probably never use. My opinion is based what small knowlege I have on audio/video equipment.

I liked...

+ Simple installation - I actually set this up in 1/2 hour, I had to cut the rear speake wire to use existing wire but that's about it. All the speaker wires were color coded and back of unit was clearly marked.

+ 5 Discs - I didn't realize how useful this was until I actually used it.

+ Heavy - the main unit was darn heavy and so were the speakers. I usually grade A/V equipment's quality by its weight. I know it sounds dumb but I just don't understand why some units are huge but empty inside.

+ Looks good - it's got a nice finish and doesn't look cheap. It doesn't look like $1,000 set but it sure looks worth more than $240

+ Sound - I had a yamaha receiver and set of speakers that were more than 10 years old and I didn't have a subwoofer. OK, you can just guess what happened next. Sound was crisp and clear.

I didn't like...

+ No Audio Out? What the... - I bougth a projection TV last year and I think it has good speakers in them. I looked and looked but could not find audio out. Just video out, what the.... wasted fine speaker on TV. Maybe I could buy a TV w/o a speaker at cheaper price next time.

+ Remote - it's functional and it packed everything that you need. It's really non-complex looking remote. However, some functions require you to joggle around such as audio and subtitle of dvd. I use this function alot and seperate button would been a plus.

+ Aux - this unit only offers 2 Aux in, and I tell you 2 is not enough these days. I have the Dish, VCR (for my kid's VHS tapes), PS 2, and Karaoke machine. I have a selector unit but I think A/V quality degrade when it passes through this thing.

If you're looking for beginner set of Home Theater in a Box and don't want to spend lots of $, this unit will be it.

4-0 out of 5 stars System worth buying
I bought this system over 6months now. To date I am relatively pleased with it. Imust say that the sound is EXCELLENT for a pricerange like this one's. Once you use proper Svideo cables, anormal tv picture will be of high definition.
One problem I've had is that the lens is supersensitive. Any grime on the disc causes the picture to stick/skip. It hasn't been a great problem because I've found that cleaning the discs before, helps its performance.
I agree with other reviewers that the remote is crap but could be worse. At least it works although there is a slight delay in the transmission of the signal.
I haven't found the unit to be noisy and the blue neon light is adjustable.
Lets face it at this price the features available on this unit are top dog! I have mine in a basement room about 12x18ft and it performs like a boss! Also the speakers are rather decorative and easily wall mounted. Not forgetting its also a radio and 5 disc changer playing all formats of discs including mp3 I easily recommend it to anybody wanting adecent home theatre system. If you want to spend more there are better systems available but this is adefinite quality budget player. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

The Samsung MM-DS80 may look like the average portable CD player, but don't let the small size fool you, as the system connects to your TV to play DVDs in addition to audio compact discs, MP3s, and audiocassettes. It even comes with a 50-watt powered subwoofer that enhances low-frequency bass for both movies and music--quite unusual for a compact stereo. The system is compatible with DVD, DVD-R/RW, Video CD, CD, and CD-R/RW formats, and includes such extras as a single-well cassette deck, an AM/FM tuner, and a pair of two-way wooden speakers (30 watts x 2). The cassette deck works in tandem with the CD player by synchronizing the recording start for seamless playback.

The DVD player, on the other hand, not only displays movies, but also JPEG files captured by digital cameras. Other features unique to the DVD player include multi-angle playback, crystal-clear fast-forward and slow motion, repeat play, and zoom. Parents will especially appreciate the parental control, which ensures that children won't be able to access mature content.

The system connects to a TV through its S-video and A/V outputs. It also includes an auxiliary input in addition to its subwoofer connector.

Amazon.com Product Description

Designed with an eye for style, a spirit of convenience, and an ear for quality sound, Samsung's HT-SK6 merges all the source components of a home theater into a single, appealing package. The system includes a progressive-scan DVD player alongside Klipsch's award-winning Quintet Microsystem speakers: five horn-loaded two-way satellites and a 10-inch powered subwoofer. The system was made to deliver uncompromising audio/video performance through a knockout combination of power and accuracy. But it's also compact--so you can enjoy classy home entertainment with minimal setup time right in your existing living space.

High power--100 watts per channel times five for the left, right, center, and left/right surround channels--means true home-theater power, bolstered by 225 watts peak power for the subwoofer (55 watts continuous). The DVD player handles playback for standard DVD-Video, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, VCD, CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3 CD--perfect for commercial and most homemade discs alike.

The Klipsch Quintet claims to be the world's smallest horn-loaded surround speaker system. Klipsch's exclusive MicroTractix Horn drives the four seven-inch-tall satellites and unassuming center channel, delivering a broad sound stage with smooth yet powerful sound.

Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the HT-SK6's DVD player is ready to deliver the full potential of DVDs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, providing higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. Interlaced component-video outputs help minimize digital and line-scan artifacts on compatible advanced televisions, while composite- and S-video outputs bring compatibility with nearly any television.

The HT-SK6's DVD player also performs 3:2 pulldown. DVD mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture. And did we mention the system's surround processing prowess? You'll enjoy enveloping audio decoding for both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround formats, as well as Dolby Pro-logic II, which converts two-channel audio tracks from any source into five-channel surround sound.

The system offers additional connectivity for existing audio/video components, such as a VCR, cable box, or satellite receiver. Other features include an FM/AM tuner with 30 station presets, supplied FM and AM antennas, and a headphone jack (.125-inch minijack) for private listening.

Asin: B0000AI0NM

Amazon.com Product Description

Samsung's high-power CHT-420/XAA DVD/VCR combo is perfect for getting the full enjoyment from all your favorite movies and music, featuring VHS recording and playback, premium progressive-scan component-video DVD outputs, built-in MP3 decoding, and compatibility with JPEG image CDs so you can enjoy a slideshow of your digital pictures right on your television. It comes with a multichannel surround speaker system and an integrated surround receiver that decodes DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1-channel surround sound. Dolby Pro Logic II generates immersive, 5.1-channel surround from any two-channel music or movie input.

Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the CHT-420/XAA stands ready to deliver the full potential of your DVDs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts.

The VCR delivers hi-fi stereo sound and quasi-S-VHS (SQPB) playback, which lets you view S-VHS cassettes--normally only playable on high-end S-VHS machines--in standard VHS resolution. One-month, eight-event programming ensures you'll never miss an essential broadcast.

The built-in amplifier pumps out 60 watts per channel x 5 for the satellites and center-channel speaker and 100 watts for the passive 8-inch subwoofer, all of which combines to create a full range (20 to 20,000 Hz) system capable of hair-raising sonic realism.

Top-of-the-line component-video outputs (for DVD only) help minimize digital and line-scan artifacts on compatible advanced televisions, while composite- and S-video outputs bring DVD compatibility with nearly any television. The single-jack DVD/VCR output is composite-video only, and there's also an VCR-specific RF output for use with older televisions. A set of left/right analog-audio outputs for both DVD and VCR components channel audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions. Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound DVD signals can be routed through the player's digital-audio output for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver.

If your TV has only a single RF input, you'll need to buy an RF video modulator, which will not only convert composite-video to RF, but provide you with a simple way to switch multiple video output sources to a single TV input. Other features include an FM/AM tuner with 30 station presets, auto clock set, and password-protected parental ratings control for DVD playback.

What's in the Box

Amazon.com Product Description

Offering the elusive attributes of simplicity and convenience to anyone seeking quality home entertainment, Samsung's shining HT-DB390 delivers DVD and music playback in dynamic surround sound--without the need to drape speaker wires across your living room for the surround speakers. That's right: the HT-DB390 comes with a special high-bandwidth 2.4 GHz digital wireless transmitter that beams the data for the system's left and right surround speakers right to them, so you can enjoy enveloping multichannel surround sound without the fuss of drilling holes or hiding speaker cables.

The front left, right, and center speakers all use cables, of course (supplied), but--being closer to the system's unified DVD player/surround receiver--they'll be relatively unobtrusive. The HT-DB390 spins DVD-Video, high-resolution DVD-Audio, DVD-R/-RW, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3 and WMA (Windows Media Audio) CD, as well as JPEG image CD--great for living-room slide shows of your digital photos.

The amplifier delivers 60 watts per channel to each of the system's 5 compact satellite speakers, while the stand-alone subwoofer packs a hefty 100 watts for wall-whopping bass. A built-in AM/FM tuner comes with 30 station presets for easy tuning to your favorite stations.

All major movie and music surround signals are decoded and routed to their appropriate speakers: multichannel DVD-Audio, Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II (which generates 5.1 surround from any stereo source, whether movie or music), and DTS 5.1-channel surround sound. The system includes an AM/FM radio tuner with 30 preset memory settings, and a headphone jack for private or late-night listening.

DVD-Audio discs offer super high-fidelity sound, providing 192 kHz/24-bit multichannel and/or stereo sound (depending on the disc), high storage capacity, and unique bonus materials not available on regular audio CDs. These discs often have compressed Dolby Digital soundtracks for listening on standard DVD players, but true DVD-A decoding such as this system provides is required for full sonic appreciation.

The system's progressive-scan component-video output prepares you for the future, with the ability to use the system in conjunction with a high-definition or HD-ready television. Smooth progressive-scan images are free from even the slightest hint of blurring or distortion, bringing new realism to DVD movies and other selections.

The HT-DB390 also performs 3:2 pulldown detection and reversal. DVD mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; reverse 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture.

Auxiliary audio/video inputs let you connect additional components like your VCR to the system.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great system with many features
Overall I think this system is very good. It produces great sound for small living rooms. The wireless tower didn't work when I hooked it up, but if you read the manual it clearly states that there's a reset button on the back of the tower and you must press it a couple of times if the tower does not comunicate with the reciever. I did this and everything works great now. I have had no problem with the wireless speakers picking up other signals and they sound just as clear as the front wired speakers. If you want wireless and don't want to spend too much, then you can't go wrong with this system.

1-0 out of 5 stars Out of the Box the Wireless doesn't work
I purchased this system because of the wireless capabilities, well right out of the box the wireless tower does not work. Not a good start! I will be calling support today. To be continued.

Well strike two and I'm done. I sent the first one back because the wireless tower did not work right out of the box. They sent me another one, and guess what? It didn't work either. When I talked to Samsung support they sounded as if this was happening a lot? I think they need to work the bugs out before they ship the product out. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for the Price!!
The quality of this DVD player is absolutely amazing. The progressive scan technology looks great even on a normal TV! The sound quality is unmatched and along with Dolby Digital 5.1 there is two sweets that make this deal amazing. The first is Dolby Pro-Logic 2, which is great for watching TVmovies and other nice programing encoded for this format. It is also GREAT for the GameCube which uses Pro-Logic 2 for surround! The best part of this deal is the DTS support!!! DTS for under $200!!!!! When I turn this DVD player to widescreen and then use the 16:9 aspect ratio on my 32" Flat CRT TV the quality is similar to HDTV!! Make sure when you get it and you are using a 4:3 display to change the setting on the system to tell it that you are using 4:3 otherwise it will default to wide and it will look bad on your TV!! Great buy! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Had it for a few years and love it.
This is my first home theater system. I have had it for 2 years and it is performing very well. I have a friend that purchased a newer Samsung HT System and it was not as loud and clear of a sound as this model. He returned his and is looking for mine!

4-0 out of 5 stars Decent system
I really like this system and haven't had the horrible experiences other people seem to have. The system worked well right out of the box 3 months ago and continues to have no problemns. The sound is good - though if you like really loud music go for the 450 watt version. The speakers are small but produce nice sound (even though they are a little cheap looking). There are great features in the progressive scan DVD mode - though the remote is a little annoying to get used to. Also the fast forward feature when listening to music is not constant (it jumps in 10 second or 20 second intervals only). Despite this, I've been really pleased - especially considering that other PS DVDs with Dolby Pro II cost HUNDREDS more. Not a bad system at all.

1-0 out of 5 stars This item is horrible!!!!
this Home theater system is horrible. It produces a small band at the top of the picture that is blue in color and affects every scene. Furthermore, when you power the unit down, then go back to the DVD that is already loaded, the unit plays from the beginning and not from where you last left off from.

Don't waste your money. Stick with the Sony Dream System line.

2-0 out of 5 stars Great system for small room... if it can stay cool.
I purchased a Samsung HT-DM150 Home Theater System to complement the Samsung 27" HDTV I had gotten for my bedroom sitting area. It's a great compact system for a compact room. I wouldn't recommend using it in a large room, but it certainly provides enough power for a small room.

The manual is adequate, but could provide a little more detail. Connecting and configuring the system was straightforward and very easy to do. Once everything was up and running, I proceeded to test the system out. The picture quality through the component cables was exceptional and the sound was clean with little perceptible distortion. The system easily handled the various DVDs I threw at it and was able to provide volume levels a lot higher than I expected. The remote control leaves something to be desired, but most OEM remotes do. Still, the machine was everything I had wanted and I didn't have to shell out a lot of cash to get it so I was very happy and very imporessed with Samsung.

Unfortunately, my enjoyment of the system didn't last long. Apparently, the unit runs extremely hot and the fan may not provide enough cooling. Around 1.5-2 hours into watching DVDs, the system refused to display a picture on the screen. The unit was very hot and the fan apeared to have stopped. Only after I turned the power off and then turned it on again, did I receive a picture. I had read about this issue when researching the product, but thought it might have been corrected. Guess I was wrong. The unit I have is not enclosed in a cabinet, but lies on an open shelf exposed on all four sides, so it is not an issue of improper ventillation. I plan to take a look at the fan and see if there is some way I can fix it myself before returning it to the store for a replacement or store credit. I hope there is a solution, because frankly, I'd hate to have to shell out more cash for a system that does half of what this one does.

To sum it all up, for the price, the features can't be beat. Just be aware the unit does run rather hot and you may have some issues with the unit not working. If Samsung addresses these problems, they'll have a killer system. So 2 stars because of the low power and poor reliability as a result of cooling. If not for the cooling issue, I'd give the Samsung HT-DM150 at least 4 stars.

4-0 out of 5 stars All in one great value for money
If you are looking for an all-in-one home theater system with all the new goodies, then this is definitely the one to look for. At [$$$], it has Pro Logic II, a feature not usually found on other systems with similar price, which actually converts your normal stereo sound to 5.1 surround (now my TV sounds surround!). It also has progressive scan too, a big plus. It plays MP3, VCD, CD-R/RW beside DVD. Furthermore, the player looks very cool with its metallic casing.

On the minus side, the speakers look mediocre like some [low-end] computer speakers, but the sound is clear and crisp. The remote that comes with it look like [low-end] plastic, very unattractive. Anyway, what I really care is the numerous functions of the remote.

In short, if you are looking for a budget home theater with all the functions, then this is the one you should go for. ... Read more
