Amazon.com Product Description

Make movie night a special night with the advanced video and audio features of the Samsung TXN3275HF flat-screen, HD-ready TV. This 32-inch set features Samsung's Neo Side sound design, which includes control keys placed on the side where they won't clutter the clean look of the front of the silver cabinet. The TXN3275HF also offers 1080i and 480p display formats, 4:3 aspect ratio (with 16:9 enhanced mode), Samsung's DynaFlat anti-distortion, anti-glare flat picture tube, and a full complement of Samsung's advanced digital video features, including 3-line digital comb filter, velocity scan modulation, and 3:2 pulldown cinema conversion.

The TXN3275HF offers Samsung's Digital Pro Picture three-stage video processing system that produces a high-performance picture from both analog and digital sources. The Total DSP (Digital Signal Processing) improves analog to digital signal processing, the Pro Chip Plus converts all analog signals to the better flicker-free progressive scan, and the three-line digital comb filter analyzes multiple lines of picture information to minimize edge image artifacts while improving transition detail.

The 3:2 pulldown cinema video processing detects and compensates film--which is shot at 24 frames per second (fps) compared with video's 30 fps rate--to video for a smooth theaterlike experience at home. This set also features an Invar shadow mask (an alloy material used to attain better focus and brightness consistency), color temperature controls, and four video presets (standard, dynamic, movie, custom) that optimize the picture for brightness, sharpness, color, and tint.

It has a built-in 181-chanel NTSC tuner that receives MTS and SAP stereo broadcasts. You'll need a separate HDTV tuner to receive high-definition broadcasts. Its built-in speakers have 15 watts of power apiece and it features a headphone jack on the side of the set. Two component-video inputs allow you to connect an optional HDTV receiver or a source with component-video outputs. It also has 4 composite A/V inputs (3 rear, 1 side), 1 A/V output, 1 S-video input (side), and 2 RF inputs (rear).

Tech Talk
Aspect ratio: The aspect ratio refers to the shape of the video image. Standard television has a 4:3 aspect ratio, which is almost square in appearance. Digital television will have either a 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio, which is widescreen and appears rectangular, looking more like a movie screen and filling more of the viewer's field of vision for a more lifelike viewing experience.

Scanning method: Frames of video are made up of many lines of video that are scanned onto a television screen so closely they appear to be a solid picture. The scanning method can be either interlaced or progressive. Interlaced scanning (also used in today's analog TV), indicated by an "i" in the video format, fills in the odd number lines (1,3,5,7...) and then fills in the even number lines (2,4,6,8...) until the frame is complete. Progressive scanning, "p," fills in each line consecutively until the frame is complete, like a computer display.

1-0 out of 5 stars Do not buy from here!!!!!
TV was broke right out of the box. I called tech depot to see if I could return the television but they denied ever shipping it to me. Called samsung and they sent a repairman to come and fix it but he said the tv's circuit board was cracked and that it's not covered under the warranty. So i'm stuck with a tv that doesn't work minus $800. Horrible experience with customer service they gave me the runaround and pretty much acted like they didn't know anything. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

Samsung's stylish, 32-inch TXN3098 DynaFlat high-definition digital TV monitor offers full 1080i input capability for use with a DTV set-top box or a progressive-scan DVD player. The set uses a 4:3-aspect ratio DynaFlat HD screen with an antidistortion/antiglare picture tube. Its Pro Chip Plus NTSC-to-480-progressive-scan system converts all incoming analog sources (like VCR, cable, or nonprogressive DVD) to a 480p display, eliminating conventional TV scan lines for a "flicker-free" picture.

An especially attractive feature of this feature-loaded TV is its "neo slim-width" design, which conserves space while delivering high-quality video and audio. A separate enclosure houses a 25-watt-powered subwoofer in the back of the set, eliminating the need for bulky side speakers. The mid- and high-frequency speakers (10 watts each) reside in the front panel, optimally positioned beneath the screen.

Total DSP (Digital Signal Processing) converts standard analog broadcast TV signals to digital and compensates for varying signal strengths, while the set's 8-bit, 20 MHz 3D Y/C comb filter removes blurred edges between colors and reduces dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a character's striped T-shirt). Velocity-scan modulation improves the definition at picture edges, creating sharper images by slowing the CRT (cathode-ray tube) beam's horizontal scanning during demanding work--say, when rendering transitions from light to dark parts of an image--and speeding it up when scanning easily rendered sections, like broad dark areas.

The TXN3098 also offers 3:2 pull down. DVD mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; 3:2 pull down digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture. Samsung's DNIe Video Enhancer (or Digital Natural Image engine) enhances all analog NTSC and wideband video inputs for an overall improvement in picture quality. DNIe improves contrast, white level, and picture detail, incorporating digital noise reduction to improve low-quality video sources.

Other features include two-tuner split-screen picture-in-picture, BBE High-Definition Sound (improves speech intelligibility and restores the dynamic range of compressed musical passages), V-Chip parental controls, and plug-and-play setup, which uses automation and a simple menu to select the source (broadcast or cable), set the clock, and map the active channels.

Inputs consist of a DVI-HDTV input for direct digital connection with a DTV receiver, dual high-definition DVD/DTV component-video inputs, an RF input (for an older VCR or cable box), and three rear and one set of side-panel audio/video inputs (including one S-video input) to accommodate a camcorder, game console, or other sources. The set comes with a universal remote control.

1-0 out of 5 stars No customer support
It looks good but their support is terrible. The TV arrived with a bad tube. It sat on the shop for repair for 3 weeks before Samsung gave any answer. They finally said that they wouldn't send a replacement tube. I then had to ship it back to the dealer at my cost. Don't buy Samsung products. Your may save in the front end but you loose in the back end !

3-0 out of 5 stars WHY no 720p support?
Yea why dosent any of Samsungs HD-ready tube televisons even the high quality tantus series not support 720p. These tv's are great for DVD veiwing but if your a video game player like me then you should check out the Toshiba 30" HD ready tv. it has a smaller footprit than samsungs 26" 16:9 TV and supports all HD signals it also is the same price. so if you are not a video game fanatic then Samsung HD Tube tvs are great, nice price for size but still no 720p support.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent HDTV, but Service is a Problem
I spent six months looking at small HDTV sets for my living room before settling on the Samsung TXM3098, which was replaced by the TXN3098. It is a wonderful set in many ways:
- Beautiful, vivid picture with an HDTV signal (I use RCN cable) or with DVD input (I am using composite input for DVD)
- Very good picture with a standard signal (much better than my old set, with four screen size options)
- Terrific sound for a stand-alone set
- Easy-to-navigate menu system

My major complaint is service: I am suffering from geometric distortion with some signals, and Samsung shows absolutely no sign of being willing to return my call or stand behind their product. This is very disturbing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for HDTV and DVD, bad for other things
I absolutely love this TV. Its shortcomings: like all widescreen TV's, it gives a distorted image of signals it receives that aren't in widescreen format. If you don't have access to HDTV and don't expect to get it soon, don't even think about this TV, unless you only want it for DVD's. You'll be terribly frustrated. I certainly was for the first five months owning the TV. Then Comcast suddenly added HDTV offerings. It's absolutely _amazing_ for live HDTV sporting events, and for movies, especially new movies. It's still worse than a regular TV for non-HDTV offerings. But I would say that if you believe that HDTV will continue to take over, and are willing to be patient, you will be very, very happy with this TV.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Studio Apartment Theater
After researching and shopping for months, I finally decided on the Samsung TXN3098WHF 30" Tantus Widescreen CRT. It replaced my Sony 27" WEGA, which I loved but was not HD ready. First of all, this model is offered in 27", 30", and 32" sizes in the top of the line Samsung NEO series CRT's. I was seriously considering the 32" model and the 32" Sony WEGA HS510, but the picture quality, aspect ratio, dimensions, and weight of the 30" Samsung won me over.

Digital cable looks great. I will probably be upgrading to Dish Network soon as they offer more HD channels compared to DirectTV. RCN and Comcast are working on offering HD in the city. This model has several features that improve the picture quality including a Low Noise Amplifier which the incoming signal in a weak signal area, DNIe (Digital Natural Image engine) that enables an improved image with detail, contrast and white enhancements and 3D noise reduction, and Digital Noise Reduction which reduces static and ghosting that may appear on the screen. All of these features can turned off or on via the menu.

I'm an avid console gamer and Playstation 2 looks amazing in widescreen via Monster Cable component video cables. Did I mention this set has two HD component video inputs, one S-Video, and several RCA inputs. By the way, I saved the best for last, my Samsung has one DVI input that receives an uncompressed digital video signal from a HD receiver or DVD player.

I had a Sony Progressive Scan DVD player but replaced it with the Samsung HD-931 DVD Player available through Amazon. Now all my DVD's are upconverted to HD quality. I'm using the Monster Cable M500 DVI cable and the picture quality is unbelievable. I was shocked at how great my DVD's look. I'm seeing things I've never seen before on my DVD's. I'm excited to watch every one again in my vast collection. I can hardly wait to see The Two Towers and Matrix Reloaded.

I have a Denon/Bose/Klipsch/Monster Cable 7.1 Home Theater system and I use the Samsung speaker system when watching TV. The speaker system includes two front channels and a built-in sub on the left side of the set. Sound features include Simulated Surround Sound, BBE, an Equalizer, and several factory settings.

I highly recommend this product to anyone wanting a Widescreen HD TV. It is a true performer at a great value. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

It's big, it's affordable, it's high-def: Samsung's rear-projection, HD-ready HCN473W offers terrific picture enhancements, superb convenience features, and even room for two other pieces of gear behind a hinged door in its cabinet. The 47-inch set's widescreen display is specially configured to accommodate the native aspect ratios of your favorite movies. Its dark-bezel, silver-gray cabinet makes it a great choice for stylish, big-screen entertainment in large rooms. And, when you're ready to take on the world of high-definition television, just add a HD satellite/off-air receiver or an HDTV tuner to enjoy full-quality digital HDTV broadcast programming--the set features a DVI-HDTV interface so you can establish a direct, premium-quality digital connection with your DTV receiver.

Three high-resolution, 7-inch liquid-cooled CRTs power Samsung's RealFlect System Pro, delivering highly focused illumination across the entire screen through incorporated features like HD Fine Focus lenses and a high-performance HD Fine Pitch lenticular screen with anti-glare protection. PerfectFocus Pro 15-point digital focus gives you convenient picture focus at the push of a button. Samsung's Cinema Progressive Scan automatically upconverts all nondigital signals to a smooth, clear 720 lines of progressively scanned images.

An important element of Cinema Progressive Scan is 3:2 pulldown detection, which renders DVD movies in their native 24-frame format. Digital video mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture.

Samsung's HD Fine Pitch screen further improves picture clarity, especially when viewing higher-definition video sources like DVD and HDTV. The fine-pitch, .52 mm screen brings out subtle image details otherwise unnoticeable on standard .72 mm pitch screens. Samsung's Auto PerfectFocus auto-convergence system corrects picture focus at the push of a button. All onscreen information and menus appear in translucent overlays, letting you view video programs in the background while you consult the setup menus.

A total of 11 video inputs handles more than most of the sets out there and includes the DVI input mentioned above, three each composite-video and high-definition component-video inputs, two S-video inputs, and two standard RF inputs (for VCRs and cable boxes).

The set's two-tuner picture-in-picture with stock-ticker modes lets you monitor up to 13 different channels simultaneously. Stock-ticker mode places the lower one-fifth of the screen of one channel into another channel so you can viewing streaming text beneath the program of your choice.

The 15-watt-per-channel stereo audio system benefits from BBE Sound with a five-band equalizer, which is designed to enhance the sound from movies and music programs alike. Sound Mode Preset gives you the best dynamic sound settings for whatever you're watching. Choose from standard, music, movie, speech, or custom.

Samsung's 27-inch TXM2798HF DynaFlat high-definition digital TV monitor offers full 1080i input capability for use with a DTV set-top box or a DVD player. The set uses a 4:3-aspect ratio DynaFlat HDTV screen with an anti-distortion, anti-glare picture tube. The Pro Chip Plus NTSC-to-480-progressive-scan line-doubling system converts incoming analog sources (VCR, cable, non-progressive-scan DVD) to a progressive-scan 480p display, eliminating conventional TV scan lines for a "flicker free" picture. 1-0 out of 5 stars Had the TV for 18 months and SLOWLY DYING...
Samsung is not being very understanding. Getting the run around from Samsung (saying the opposite of what the local Authorized Samsung Repair tells me)

Buy Samsung ONLY if you want a DISPOSABLE TV. They do not stand behind their products.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Features for Price.
Just got mine today. Took a bit of fussing to make things work the way I wanted them too. Hooking this puppy up is definetely NOT for the timid. The only problem I have is that it has such good resolution that regular analog cable looks more grainy than it did on my old regular resolution TV (even with the digital enhancement feature turned on). DVDs viewed in progressive mode are stunning! This TV is the most customizable TV I have ever used. Minor issues: switching between video input sources is kind of cumbersome as you have to repeatedly press the button to cycle through them and the cycling is unnecessarily slow. Also: the TV makes this really annoying test tone when you turn it on. Overall I am very pleased.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome HDTV set!
This 27 inch HDTV is just awesome! Its internal line doubler upconverts NTSC signal to 480p flawless, so it outputs a great flicker free image, even with a non-progressive DVD player or a VHS. It also has 2 broadband component video inputs,I'm using this TV with an XBox & a PS2, and it produces an excellent image (it reproduces exactly the progressive scan picture of the XBox & it upconverts the interlaced output of the PS2 at 60fps). Its line doubler is far superior to the DRC in the Sony Wega HDTV (and I have seen the TVs side by side). The set also have 3:2 pulldown and supports the 16:9 anamorphic format, so is great for movies. The sound is loud & crisp, and the subwoofer adds a lot of bass. I have this HDTV for 2 weeks now and I can't be happier (I only wish I could have bought it cheaper (I paid $$$$ for it, but at the current price it's a steal!)

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent value
The standard analog broadcast is exceptionally clear. At times, the detail appears almost digital. Star Wars, Episode II, played on my progressive scan JVC dvd player is absolutely breathtaking. And, the cost of this television was amazingly inexpensive. I , being a cheap yet persnickity person, am very pleased.

3-0 out of 5 stars A good set with problems
I'm giving this set the benefit of the doubt to award it 3 stars. It does have a very good picture (although white objects on black backgrounds shimmer slightly, even with progressive scan and 3/2 pulldown) and is relatively inexpensive given its features. My only complaints about features are that it doesn't allow you to turn off velocity scan modulation and it doesn't have an input for the upcoming digital DVD interface. Even without these features, it is a bargain. Nevertheless, I have a major problem with my set. It has a plastic case that expands and contracts with even minor changes in temperature to produce popping sounds that are quite loud (like a loud finger snap). Since we have the set in our bedroom and the popping can persist for serveral hours after it is turned off, it continually wakes us up. Samsung's service representative in our area said they couldn't do anything about it. My set also came with a nick in the power cord and Samsung told me my only recourse was to send it back to Amazon.com! It took over a month for the set to arrive after I ordered it, so I didn't want to suffer through the turnaround. Note: the top of the set is steeply angled downward toward the back--it doesn't have a flat surface to put your center channel speaker on if you have a surround system. If you don't have an entertainment center with room for a speaker or a speaker stand, you will have to rig something up. Note: the 2796 model has a different case. Bottom line: your set may have problems and Samsung will not go out of its way to help. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Feature Rich, Poor Quality
I bought this television and took it back a week later. There was a bow in the lower third of the screen where one would expect straight horizontal lines. Additionally, when the screen was supposed to be fading to black, 3-4 inch wide dark black stripes appeard on the screen with a charcoal black color in between. In other words, the blacks are not consistent. I thought this was the best buy given the number of component inputs, HD ready, flat screen, etc.. and I got burned. Atleast I got my money back. Now I don't know what to buy. Thinking about the Hitachi but there seem to be people not happy with thise as well. Sony is the answer bu tnot sure I want to spend the extra buckx. I may just wait until later this fall (2002) to see what else becomes avail and buy a 27 inch for $400 until then at which time I can upgade the 13" in the br with the 27. ... Read more

No, it's not as big as a real movie screen--but it will probably feel like it. Samsung's rear-projection HCN653W offers a massive, 65-inch display in a widescreen format that's specially configured to accommodate the native aspect ratios of favorite movies. The set's dark-bezel, silver-gray cabinet makes it a great choice for stylish, big-screen entertainment in large rooms. And, when you're ready to take on the world of high-definition television, just add a HD satellite/off-air receiver or an HDTV tuner to enjoy full-quality digital HDTV broadcast programming--the set features a DVI-HDTV interface so you can establish a direct, premium-quality digital connection with a DTV receiver.

Whether your passion is for DVDs, sports, or movies, the HCN653W delivers high performance and convenience. At the heart of the set, three high-resolution seven-inch liquid-cooled CRTs power Samsung's RealFlect HD Fine Focus system, delivering highly focused illumination across the entire screen. PerfectFocus digital auto-convergence gives you convenient picture focus at the push of a button. Samsung's Cinema Progressive Scan automatically upconverts all non-digital signals to a smooth, clear 720 lines of progressively scanned images.

Stock-ticker mode places the lower one fifth of the screen of one channel into another channel so you can view streaming text beneath the program of your choice.

A hinged door at the base of the set's component shelf permits placement of two full-sized components (e.g. a DVD player and an HDTV tuner). The door uses a tinted window for passing remote-control signals, and openings in the back of the cabinet accommodate simple connection of cables and power cords.

4-0 out of 5 stars GREAT TV - PERIOD
With this tv you can have top of the line performance with out the top of the line price. I have had mine for a few months now, and I would recommend it to anyone. The ONLY reason I gave this tv 4 stars is because of the component inputs. It has 3, but 2 of them are dedicated to High Definition. Meaning ONLY high definition components can be used. (like HD satellite) DVD players are NOT High Definition! So really it is like only having 1 component input. Kind of a pain when I have my Playstation 2 hooked up using components. (recommended) Now there is no place for any dvd player. That is why I got Samsung's HD931. It has a DVI output that will go right into the DVI input in the back of my tv. (see what I mean about top of the line!)
The tv is simply great. I highly recommend getting satellite service, and the Samsung HD931 to take advantage of what this tv can do.
Good luck!

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT TELEVISION FOR THE MONEY
I have this TV paired up to a Samsung HD-953 DVI DVD player and the picture is terrific. This television is a beast, so make sure you do your measurements. It's a piece of furniture in its' own right. The set up is easy, and there are many, many useful inputs on the back. USE the DVI and you will achieve an excellent picture. This is a digital HDTV television, so the hardware interfaces much more positively with a digital input. I had one bit of trouble with the door on the bottom of the cabinet, and Samsung sent me the WHOLE door. I've had terrific experiences with their products in general. You cannot buy more television for this price.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best buy
i really like this giant tv good quality and price go and check it out for urself.

1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS TV
DO NOT BUY THIS TELEVISION. IT DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO CHANGE THE SIZE OF THE PICTURE TO FIT THE SCREEN FOR BROADCAST DIGITA CABLE (non-HDTV) SOURCES. And here is the real horror: if those bars burn in (Samsung recommends that you do not view non-screen filling material more than 15% of the time), your warranty is void! You only find this out AFTER you try to change the screen size and read the manual. I REPEAT, DO NOT BUY THIS TELEVISION! I am stuck with this TV; you should not have to be :( ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

Transform your living room into a luxurious movie theater with Samsung's widescreen, rear-projection HCL4715W. The set's 47-inch viewing area is set in a smart-looking medium-gray cabinet, and the unit is equally compatible with progressive-scan DVD players and DTV set-top boxes. Whether your passion is DVDs, sports, or movies, the HCL4715W delivers outstanding performance and convenience.

At the heart of the set, 3 high-resolution 7-inch liquid-cooled CRTs power Samsung's RealFlect video system. The system includes data-grade lenses for optimum picture detail and a first-surface mirror to ensure high brightness and image clarity. Samsung's PerfectFocus auto-convergence system corrects picture focus at the push of a button (9-point manual adjustment is also an option). Flicker-free progressive-scan picture performance eliminates scan lines visible in analog projection sets. Its 30-watt stereo audio system (15 watts per channel x 2) delivers ample sound for any entertainment venue.

The set's widescreen aspect ratio is the ideal screen format for viewing widescreen video from DVD players, as well as for the growing availability of broadcast programming from HDTV tuners, cable boxes, and satellite receivers. The HDTV component-video inputs accommodate any add-on HDTV tuners, HD satellite receivers, and HD cable boxes that output 1080i-format component-video (Y, Pb, Pr). NTSC-to-480p line doubling takes interlaced inputs (as those from VCRs and non-progressive-scan DVD players) and converts it to a sharper, clearer progressive-scan.

Further, a 3-line digital comb filter improves the picture quality of all analog video sources by reducing "dot crawl" caused by incorrect color processing (most noticeable near borders and the edges of contrasting areas). Picture-format size adjustment compensates for different video formats by digitally expanding the picture to fill the screen. The "aspect" button on the remote toggles through the set's 5 options: zoom 1, zoom 2, stretch, panorama, and native format.

Dual-tuner picture-in-picture enables convenient simultaneous viewing of 2 TV programs. Remote control PIP functions include the mixing a TV source and a video source, and second-screen size and positioning on the TV screen. A universal remote control permits control over the TV, DVD, VCR, and cable box.

1-0 out of 5 stars Piece of Cr$5 - no customer service
I have owned this set since June 11, 2002. It first broke on January 4, 2003 and was not repaired until February 10. Samsung admitted they had 'parts availability problems.' Then, on July 6, 2003, it failed again and as of August 6, 2003, remains dark with again, 'parts availability problems.' Samsung can not promise me ANY date it will be working, can promise no date for delivery of parts and generally does not follow-up or return telephone calls. I have hired a lawyer since after $1800 - they have very poor customer and warranty service - spend the $200 and buy a Mitsubishi.

2-0 out of 5 stars They just don't last
Let me point out first that I'm a former Sears employee who had to sell these things on a daily basis. And I say former so that no one thinks we're out for higher commission, because Samsung paid about the best.
The fact is, though they look great when working, these TV's just don't last. We actually had a Samsung rep/repairman tell us one time that they are notorious for blowing out almost exactly at the three year point.
Second, while the picture is bright and clear, Samsung uses no form of screen refresher. While this isn't a huge problem if you're watching widescreen DVD's or a high definition signal in 16:9 mode, prolonged viewing in 4:3 mode burns bars into the sides of the TV. Expecially since instead of black bars, Samsung uses gray bars.
In the end, you get what you pay for. There's a reason you pay more for TV's like Hitatchi, Sony, Mitsubishi, etc. If you must buy this TV though, do yourself a favor and get the extended warranty if it's offered. It will be worth whatever you spend on it.

4-0 out of 5 stars A GREAT BUY FROM ANOTHER STORE
THIS SAME SAMSUNG IS SOLD AT BEST BUY AND CIRCUT CITY FOR 300.00 LESS.

4-0 out of 5 stars Awesome TV
I have had this TV for 3.5 months and the picture is incredible. When the TV works you can't get a better performance for the price. My TV blew an internal power regulator and was out of comssion for a month shortly after I bought it. I must say that the samsung support technician I called for help was very nice and went the extra mile to make sure my TV was fixed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great buy!
I was looking for a bigger TV with great picture without the big price tag. Sony, Toshiba, and Hitachi are ok but not that affordable. By comparing the features with those with similar sizes, this 47" Samsung stands out. I own a 27" Samsung and I never had a problem with it so I'm confident about the quality of the brand. After the break in period, I was amazed with the quality of the picture even while watching cable. I purchased a progressive scan DVD and the picture was even better. I can't wait to try out the HD capability. My only problem is not with the unit but with the remote's design. The joystick like up/down/left/right/enter button makes me nuts. So if you have a universal remote, you can just throw this damn thing away and enjoy a stress free TV viewing. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

Samsung's HDTV-ready 27-inch TXM2796HF brings high-quality images and sound to any room in the house. It features up to 800 lines of horizontal resolution, a three-line digital comb filter that keeps edges sharp and minimizes dot drawl, and display output for 1080i or 480p modes. The flat screen produces distortion- and glare-free images that are visible from a wider viewing angle than traditional curved-screen TVs.

The TXM2796HF offers Samsung's Digital Pro Picture three-stage video processing system that produces a high-performance picture from both analog and digital sources. This set also features an Invar shadow mask (an alloy material used to attain better focus and brightness consistency) and velocity scan modulation, which sharply defines edges and outlines by controlling the speed of transitions between the black and white portions of the signal.

It has a built-in 181-chanel NTSC tuner that receives MTS and SAP stereo broadcasts. Its built-in speakers have 10 watts of power apiece and it features a headphone jack on the side of the set. The Turbo sound function emphasizes the bass and treble frequencies to add fullness to the sound.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great set.
I am a broadcast engineer for a FOX affiliate in Georgia, so I have seen quite a few monitors in my day. This set, is not for the large room,..but for quality of picture in normal broadcast, and definitely for High-Definition, it has few peers for quality. Also, I have one in our lobby, as a show piece, with our affiliates sound and picture, 24 hours a day, seven days a week since January 13, 2002, without so much as a hiccup, and zero upkeep. I have broadcast monitors in master control, that I wish were that good. (I also bought another one for my home in May 2003.) Its that good.

3-0 out of 5 stars Samsung TXM2796HF - Poor Sound Quality
I bought the Samsung TXM2796HF about 4 months ago and recently I am getting a loud humming sound from the speakers. The humming sound is very annoying. The picture quality is good but the sound is terrible.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quality and Value
I've had this set for a few months now and honestly have no complaints. I'm an avid gamer who owns a Gamecube, a PS2, and an X-Box. And while the PS2 looks decent on the set,its the Gamecube and most definately the X-Box that makes this set shine. At this time far too few Tv stations broadcast in HD, so its external devices like DVD Players and videogame consoles that validate an HDTV purchase for most people. At this set delivers it has 3 AV inputs, 1 S-Video input, and 2 Component inputs. Its really those last 2 that matter as their necessary for a high definition display. The picture quality is excellent, as far as people complining about the contrast or color thats what the custom settings are for obviously. Also the image tilting that others complain about is due to the earths magnetic field and can be rectified through use of the "tilt" option found at the bottom of the picture menu under "p-Function".
Im not a videophile Im just a gamer who knows what looks good. And for this price you cannot go wrong.

4-0 out of 5 stars Affordable HDTV
This was my first set purchase since I retired my old 19 inch Toshiba that I bought about 5 years ago. I couldn't beleive the difference.

The set has a great picture quality compared to other flat screen tubes (i.e. Wega) but is not the sharpest on the HDTV block. Still, the price makes this model more than affordable for people not looking to spend 1000+ dollars on a similar model.

One of my only gripes against this tv is the color is extremely vibrant, almost too vibrant at times. Even with the built in color adjustment, in the scene of the Lord of the Rings where the Fellowship is being formed, skin tones appear to be a deeper orange then they should. In movies with harsh white lighting the picture can seem a bit to washed out, this could very well be my dvd player however or a matter of personal taste.

The speakers in the system fair pretty average, with the added treble and boost bass being sufficient for most tv watching but drowning out mids when especially bassy or trebeled sounds are heard.

Overall I'd recommend this set if you're in the market and looking to spend 700. Make sure you have a composite connection on your dvd player, however to enjoy the true clarity this set can provide before purchase.

4-0 out of 5 stars great value
This is a great way to get HDTV without breaking the bank. And since it is a 27-inch, it fits well even in my small apartment. The colors are very vivid and the clarity is amazing, especially with digital channels. Even the analog channels look somewhat better than with an analog TV, because all analog signals get upconverted to digital. Connectivity is good, enough to connect an HDTV set-top, cable, or satellite box, a DVD player, and a VCR. The component connections are necessary for the best picture on a DVD, and essential for a HDTV set top box. Glad that it has two high-definition component connections! Granted this may not be as good as a giant projection screen with DLP, but this is a great entry-level HDTV if you are interested in the increased picture quality of digital TV. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

The 30-inch Samsung TXN3071WHF HD-ready monitor offers a small footprint with a big picture. It has a 16:9 aspect ratio for cinema-quality viewing of your favorite movies, 1080i and 480p display formats, and Samsung's DynaFlat anti-distortion, anti-glare flat picture tube.

The TXN3071WHF is loaded with Samsung's Digital Pro Picture three-stage video processing system, which produces a high-performance picture from both analog and digital sources.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good Entry...Cumbersome Menus
Recently purchased this set for my entry into Widescreen HDTV at a modest price. The picture was OK for regular broadcast cable. My Toshiba DVD player was connected to the external component inputs using a high grade cable. The DVD's were very good when the screen was set for "Movie" mode. Even VHS was good when using the direct video inputs.

The TV had a problem with 4:3 screens. First of all, it was annoying that the TV insisted on 16:9 screens whenever one changes the video input or turns the set off/on. To change this setting back to 4:3, one has to travel through an extensive menu tree. When playing the DVD with its direct input, again one has to travel through the menu system to select the "component 1" input. One cannot access it from the channel selector as one can for AV inputs like the VCR.

A flaw with the picture was that it blooms when a certain area of the picture suddenly is bright. The vertical lines in the 4:3 aspect ratio actually curve out at those moments.

Another problem is the lack of shielding in this set. I actually noticed where the wooden studs behind the sheetrock were in the wall the set was placed against. A moving of my arm around the back cover of the set hid the stud shadow in the picture.

After a week, I returned the set to trade it for a lesser priced Philips model. Its results are much better in all of the above.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very pleased with this TV -- keep the price in mind
My first foray into the HDTV world...the TXN3071WHF is one of the most compact and inexpensive ->widescreen-< HDTVs you can get right now, I've had mine for almost a year. The picture quality is great, and the sound quality...well it's ok but I have my audio going straight from the DVD player to a surround-sound system anyway (which I'm guessing most people who own HDTVs do).

I do not have an auto-shutoff problem, maybe I have an earlier revision of the TXN3071WHF operating system. The only curious thing I've noticed is when there are any bright red objects on the screen, they tend to 'wiggle' a bit. Which is kind of a cool effect actually.

It doesn't have a ton of bells and whistles, but for an entry-level widescreen HDTV, this thing is pretty sweet. Watching Toy Story II or Finding Nemo in 16:9 format on this set will knock your socks clear off. : )

1-0 out of 5 stars Forgive me Sony
The other reviewers may have defective TV's because mine doesn't shut off inexplicably; However, it does have curved side bars when viewing in 4:3 aspect ratio (this is not corrected/affected by the tilt adjustment). Also, the left side of my screen is brighter than the right. I have a call in for repair of these problems.

What cannot be repaired is the poor design, no doubt to keep the cost relatively low: 1. no rear S-Video jack (just one in the side panel). 2. not magnetically shielded (my receiver on the shelf above was turning the top of the picture green). 3. seperate buttons on remote for vid1/vid2/s-vid/ant & component1/2/vid1/2. 4. no dvi input. 5. no picture-in-picture.

I was going to get the Sony KV-30HS510 but thought I'd save some money with the Samsung; Forgive me Sony, you are clearly worth the extra $500. (which is just 13 cents a day over ten years, which is how long my last Sony lasted) Would've been well worth it considering the stress I'm going through now.

3-0 out of 5 stars Inexplicable Auto Shut Off Feature
I echo the remarks of the other review here regarding the confusing auto shut off feature.

Picture & sound quality are excellent (in fact we don't notice any of the sound mentioned by the other reviewer. We have remarked about how quiet the set is, in fact, at all low volumes.)

The manual refers to a feature, which can only be described as an energy saving device, which causes the TV to turn itself off if you don't touch any button on the remote or one on the set itself for 3 hours. What luncay!

This is the seventh day for this set in our house and I just pulled the box back from the curb in case I have to take it back to Best Buy.

I don't drive with my air conditioning on with the windows down, but saving energy is supposed to be the consumer's choice. If I want to run the thing at full blast while away from the set for 10 days that is up to me, not the agenda of some energy saving police. Absolutely ridiculous.

And if you try calling the customer service line you'll be in for a treat. A kid on the other end who is reading a computer version of the manual you received with the TV. When I asked for more help (on my third phone call - the first one told me to unplug the set which would reset the timer to the "factory setting" for 5 minutes, and the second which told me to do the same for an hour) I was told that a technician would call me back "this week". What?! I'll just sit here with my $1000.00 paperweight waiting for help from above, or take it back and buy something that let's me decide how much energy to use or not.

Oh, by the way, the timer (counting down to what God only knows) is loud enough to make you wonder if you have a bomb in your living room. Probably engineered by the same dope who decided the thing should shut off in three hours. Lots of shows/events last longer than three hours (like the Redskins game, golf tournament, Yankees & Twins game, Super Bowl, Gone With the Wind, etc.).

Overall, I am about fed up with this one and really reconsidering our purchase as it was a coin toss between this one and the comparable 30" Philips widescreen HD set.

3-0 out of 5 stars Like the picture and size hate the noise...
Purchased the TV last month for the size and picture.

The Good: The picture is great in normal and HDTV mode and the size is awesome for me.

The Problems: A louder than average whining noise emanates from the TV, it flat out makes makes a racket. At low volumes under 10 you can hear it through programs which is very annoying. Samsungs customer service regarding this matter to date is non-existent.
Also, the salesman (At Best Buy) swore this TV didn't shut itself off with an energy saver, unlike the 30'Whdtv Phillips. Wrong, this TV does shutoff, timer or not, at inexplicable intervals the manual makes zero reference to the energy saving workings.

Overall very mixed about this TV. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

The 27-inch TXN2745FP uses Samsung's proprietary DynaFlat technology to provide a perfectly flat viewing surface with none of the curvature, image distortion, or detrimental glare that accompany traditional TV screens. The stereo set offers a pair of two-way, side-mounted, front-firing speakers powered by 7.5 watts per channel for spacious, full-bodied TV sound.

This is an EDTV monitor, which means it's a step closer to high-definition or HDTV than standard TVs. When used with a progressive-scan DVD player (or compatible satellite receiver or 480p-output DTV set-top box) you'll get seamless, razor-sharp images from your favorite movies and concert videos.

The 800-line DynaFlat screen brings higher resolution than that achieved by earlier-generation sets because the individual phosphor color spots (or pixels) are smaller and closer together in this configuration. The set's multiple-focus electron gun illuminates finer spots for a more detailed picture, edge-to-edge, and it's assisted in this job by a three-line digital comb filter and velocity-scan modulation circuitry.

Another set of image improvements is wrapped into Samsung's Pro Picture three-stage video correction: Total DSP (Digital Signal Processing), Pro Chip Plus (converts all interlaced analog signals to superior, flicker-free progressive scan images), and the above-mentioned three-line digital comb filter (which analyzes multiple lines of picture information to better minimize edge image artifacts while improving transition detail).

A shadow mask is a thin sheet of perforated metal behind the screen that restricts electron flow, each hole in the sheet corresponding to a single pixel. An Invar mask uses an alloy that's especially resistant to the high temperatures generated by the electron beam, allowing in a brighter, clearer picture.

The TXN2745FP performs 3:2 pulldown detection, a handy feature for watching progressive-scan movie programs in their native 24-frame format. Digital video mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture.

Connections include a component-video input, an S-video input, a trio of composite-video inputs (with accompanying stereo analog RCA audio inputs), an RF input (for VCR or cable box), and a set of audio/video outputs for feeding a VCR or PVR. Convenient side-panel audio/video inputs that foster hookups with camcorders and gaming consoles while preserving the set's uncluttered silver front panel.

A zoom screen-filling option lets you customize the view of letter-boxed DVDs from the supplied full-function remote control, while screen-capture picture freezing lets you view still images, even with broadcast television.

Several sound mode offer dynamic audio settings for whatever you're watching; choose from standard, music, movie, speech, or custom. Surround-sound mode simulates an exciting surround effect from any two speakers, and a side-panel headphone jack allows private listening (headphones not included).

4-0 out of 5 stars YES! degaussing your picture tube is the answer:
Concerning the "electronics fan" from Kenner, Louisiana USA: the Samsung set not "firing RED so everything was green blue or purple" is a common indication that your first set needed to be degaussed if it was not firing RED while having vague splotchy colors of green blue or purple. Your second set also needed to be degaussed as you came to understand. You were rightly instructed "to (first shut off set) unplug the TV, wait 30-45 seconds then plug in the TV once again." However, going through "this procedure 3 times thus far with varying results" also indicates that the degaussing process is not yet complete. There is no big mystery about degaussing. "Degauss: to remove or neutrallize the magnetic field."(from Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary.) It is as the electronics fan from Breaux Bridge, LA stated on this site that the degaussing circuits control static buildup around the picture tube. Reread "THE NEXT DAY:" paragraph of his January 31, 2004 review article. Fore I too have a Samsung set and even had to shut it off and unplug it overnight. The next day I plugged the set in and turned it on to find brilliant natural colors. Therefore, I suggest that if shutting off and unplugging the set for 30-45 seconds and restarting it a few times using that technique, does not fully degauss the set---leave it off and unplugged overnight so the static buildup has enough time to discharge. Do this and the next day Samsung's degaussing circuits should clear up what buildup of static may remain.

2-0 out of 5 stars Great Picture - IF, if you get one that works
Viewed and compared this unit with Sony, Toshiba, Panasonic, APEX, JVC and others in a side by side comparison. My opinion was that it had the best picture in the way of clarity and "definition".

Bought the unit, took it home and hooked-up only to find the unit I bought wasn't firing "RED" so everthing was green blue or purple. Samsung, promptly on a Sat. afternoon picked up my call without virtually any wait time. After reviewing a few items, I was told to return the unit to where I had just purchased it from.

Returned it for exchange (without any hassle)and brought home the replacement unit.

Hooked it up to find that the colors were great BUT this time all for corners had color effects.. In terms of a computer monitor it could be said that the tube needed degaussing.... ON white background the corners showed green. On red/brown backgrounds the color would be purple instead.

Once again, called Samsung support (7:20 in the evening) and propmtly told me to unplug the TV, wait 30-45 seconds then plug in the tv once again.

Have done this procedure 3 times thus far with varying results, but the picture isn't right... They are sending out a repair to my home to review... Tech Support person I talked to said that he's never spoke to someone before that experienced the problem.

My response (and concern) is: What's the odds that I receive not one but two, defective TV's??? Maybe this reflects either your quality control, or just your quality????

You decide... But I still must admit that when it works, the picture is GOOD!!!! Maybe by the 3 or 13th set I'll get one...????

4-0 out of 5 stars Good EDTV, some problems
I've been happy with this TV although there are some issues. First the good: it has great image quality thanks to its support for 480p (progressive scan). With two component inputs you can use a progressive scan DVD player plus another source (digital cable, x-box/ps2, etc.) to view flicker free images. There are nice amount of inputs and outputs (for connection to VCR/Receiver, i.e.) so you won't be limited with what you can hook-up, although it would be nice to have more than one s-video input, esp. since the one that exists is on the side.

Now some not so great points about this TV. First, the newer models cannot be modified to accept HDTV signals (1080i), if this doesn't make sense then just ignore it. Second, there are some issues with blooming, that is if you watch a crawl across the screen (e.g. bottom of CNN or ESPN) you can see that it gets higher in the middle of the screen. Lastly, the remote control is very big and a little confusing. For example, to switch to component input you need to press a button that's underneath a sliding piece of plastic. Plus, there are buttons on the remote that only work with other samsung TVs.

Overall this is a good TV, especially thanks to its progressive scan. When viewed next to regular TVs in a store you can really appreciate this advangate. Just don't expect to be getting the same quality image you would with a real HDTV (which, of course, will cost you a lot more).

4-0 out of 5 stars Amendment to previous post
After being unable to clear the splotches, and being too tired to return the second set, I spent much of the night researching the problem on the net and by speaking with electronics minded people that I know. The consensus opinion was that the splotches likely resulted from static or magnetic buildup on the picture tube. These are supposed to be cleared by a degaussing circuit when the set is turned on. The next day, before returning the second unit, I turned it on and, lo and behold, the splotches were cleared. Since that time (and through the Super Bowl) the picture has been tremendous. I felt compelled to post this experience as it may be that the degaussing circuit on these sets may not clear the field when the set is first turned on. Perhaps Samsung should warn users about this. The initial rating of "3" is rising fast. Still watching for reoccurence of the problem, however.

3-0 out of 5 stars Left corner color splotches
This set caught me at Circuit City by surprise when I went in to buy a different set. In the store the picture was superb. The sound was a bit weak and tinny but since I use a multimedia receiver this did not deter me. Most television speakers are inferior anyway--that is why we buy media receivers. Anyway the set I brought home had noticeable blotches in the left upper and lower corners. I promptly exchanged the set the same day and the new one has similar blotches. We'll see whether set 3 has the same problem. Perhaps I can get the display model.....

THE NEXT DAY:
Came back to edit this post because I was too tired to return to the store for a third set last night. Instead I obsessed about the problem and read every entry on every thread about this set on several user sites. Hometheaterspot.com was particularly helpful. Also consulted with my father who built a Heath Kit television in 1976. I learned more about degaussing circuits (which control static buildup around the tube) than I ever wanted to know. Anyway, according to others, the degaussing circuit turns on automatically and clears static electricity buildups when the set is turned on after having been off for a while. Low and behold, when I turned it on this morning, the splotchy fields were gone and the picture was perfect. The jury is still out but I feel much better. Perhaps, if this is as common as reported, and it is the delayed action of the degaussing circuitry, perhaps Samsung should warn us about it before thousands of sets are returned. Anyway, I will observe it for a while. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Totally happy
I was ready for a new TV for my rec room and didn't want to by an analog set that would be outdated in a few years. The Samsung was by far the best deal for the money. The picture is fabuous, particuarly with DVD's. I can't wait till the price of the digital tuners comes down a bit. I'm really looking forward to using this for HDTV broadcasts!

4-0 out of 5 stars A Good, Reliable Place to Start -- If You Want to Start!!!
Let's start by saying that I come from a family that likes to try new, likely durable changes in electronics early on. TVs are an example: first B/W 1948; color 1958; stereo 1st year available; etc. So, when this relatively inexpensive flat-screen HDTV came along, it seemed to offer a good way to sample the current state of an evolving technology without having to lay out a lot of cash for something that would rapidly become obsolete. For the sake of fairness, I'll compare it to the conventional stereo 27" RCA that it supplanted. First off, the colors are much more crisp and the outlines and perspective much better defined. This is most apparent for DVD and VCR viewing --less so with cable. You can take this as either a plus or a minus: Yes, you get better clarity, but you also have to suspend your disbelief more. The fact that backgrounds have been overdubbed and the limitations of computer-generated imagry (especially when living beings are in the same frame) become much more apparent than on good old, fuzzier, conventional TV. It is a trade-off, but something that we all can (and, likely will have to) get used to. The stereo (without adding external speakers) is clearly superior to the conventional stereo TV. The HDTV unit is a bit more bulky (wider & deeper at the back). 27" is as small as you can (& should) get with the current technology before distortion at the edges and picture size become an issue: The latter is especially apparent because the HDTV screen is more rectangular -- making everything letter-boxed (and things that have been letter-boxed are even more so). This unit has performed well for the 3 weeks that we've had it. Its operation is simple; the enclosed remote is user-friendly; the TV is compatable with current DVD & VHS players and with cable and existing universal remotes. We'll see about durability; but there's no reason to suspect that it would be predisposed to any more problems than any other TV. So the real issue is whether it's worth paying 2 to 3-fold more for HDTV than for a conventional stereo TV of equivalent size. My advice: If you use TV primarily for cable, antenna, or dish viewing, wait until the price comes down. If you're like me, and use TV primarily for VHS and DVD viewing, the increased quality of the picture makes it worth considering -- but remember, you're more likely to notice that the chase sceens etc. are trumped up!
Addendum: I's been 3 mos. now; things are working fine, and my opinion is unchanged!

Amazon.com Product Description

Samsung's 42-inch HPN4239 plasma flat-panel television offers bright, brilliant color, extraordinarily high contrast, and high-definition compatibility with HD sources. Its native resolution is 1,024 x 768, and its direct-digital DVI input works with compatible DTV set-top boxes and PCs. There's also a standard RGB computer input. A built-in analog tuner, a pedestal stand, and a generous array of inputs and outputs make setup a snap. Further, the set's widescreen (16:9) display is specially configured to accommodate the native aspect ratios of your favorite movies, either from DVD or from HDTV broadcasts when the set is hooked up to a DTV receiver (not included).

With a plasma screen you get vivid colors like you've never seen before, extremely wide viewing angles (wider, even, than those of most LCD screens), and easy placement due to a plasma monitor's slim profile--the HPN4239 is an astoundingly slim 3.1 inches deep, perfect for desk or wall mounting (the set includes a convenient pedestal stand, pictured). Brightness tends to be extremely uniform across plasma screens, which are also impervious to the picture distortion and negative color balances that afflict CRT monitors when placed near lighting or sound systems.

Additional inputs include one HD component-video input (480p/720p/1080i) and one SD component-video input (480i) as well as one each S-video, composite-video, and RF. Samsung's proprietary video-enhancement technology, Digital Natural Image engine (DNIe), performs 3D noise reduction and detail and contrast enhancement for all interlaced (non-HD) sources.

The set also houses a 10-watts-per-channel audio amplifier for use with optional speakers, such as those in your existing stereo or home theater, or Samsung's matching PSM4230 speakers. Other optional accessories include a wall-mount kit (WMN4230) and a pneumatic floor stand (FS420).

The set's NTSC two-tuner picture-in-picture (side-by-side, split-screen) grants convenient, simultaneous viewing of two TV programs, and a fanless cooling system ensures quiet operation.

2-0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for
Well the title says it all. I did alot of research before buying the Samsung txn3271hf premier series 32 inch dynatflat HDTV. Cost 1000 from bestbuy, I wanted the Sony version but it was 300 dollars more. Right out of the box, it looked great but I started noticing ways they had cut corners to make the TVs so cheap. The remote was very cheaply made with minimal functions and very light weight. The visual quality was worse than even the Zenith and Advent model of the same specs. Color was bland and no amount of tweaking and configuration could adjust the picture to a satifactory setting. For 1000 dollars on a HDTV it was no better than a Sony wega analog television that is considerably cheaper at 32 inches. Even when playing DVD it wasnt that great, in fact if you inspect carefully you can see a grey bar of scan lines running across from bottom to top of screen while playing DVD which was annoying. Also on widescreen I noticed that the top and bottom border of the wide screen was not parallel to the borders of the monitor, thereby resulting in a picture that looks slightly concave. When the screen goes black I also saw bars of different shade of black on the screen which I've seen one other review of a samsung television that had the same problem.

I must admit I am very critical when it comes to eletronics. I knew what I was doing, everything was hooked up for optimal performance even with a Monster Video 3 component video cable (retail 90 dollar cable), and progressive scan DVD surround system. In the end I traded the thing in for a Sony Wega HDTV. 300 dollars more but I've never been happier. You really do get what you pay for. No point in spending 1000 on a HDTV that isnt up to HDTV standards.

Just got the Samsung 32" HDTV Flat Screen TV. Awesome features like the ability to adjust screen format with the remote on the fly. PIP is tremendous. Built in speaker system delivers amazing surround sound simulation for tv programs. Pause/ still feature is great. Best of all is the picture. Amazingly sharp and clear with tremendous depth and clarity. If you want a TV that's ready for HDTV when it becomes more refined and mainstream this is the one!!!!! All for under a 1,000 bucks!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Bang for the Buck
I am very impressed with this tv. As far as I could find, it is by far the cheapest 32" flat screen HDTV you can buy! The speakers sound much better than I expected. The picture on regular cable tv is great and dvds are fabulous.

I would have liked an additional audio output, but other than that I am very pleased with the purchase. ... Read more

I'm not surprised at everyone's common experience who has ownned this lcd tv. Mine also had dimmed after 13 months of used before it stopped working 3 months later. I bought my samsung lcd in February 2003. Currently, I have called Samsung customer service located in New Jersey to obtain service. Surprisingly, they didn't have a copy of my one-year extended warranty, which I've sent 10 days after buying this product. I have to dictate the representative all my warranty information. Fortunately, I have kept a copy in my file. They have asked me to fax that information. I will follow up later and let you know how Samsung respond to this matter.

3-0 out of 5 stars An update
Hi again. I thought I would write an update to my review. Since then I built a new computer and I have a graphics card that supports 1280x720. It looks really good in both windows and linux. I haven't had as many problems with part of the screen dimming lately, but it still happens sometimes. I just read that review the guy wrote about his breaking down after 15 months.. I've had mine for 11 and I'm thankful it still works. It's not the worst experience I've had with equipment, but it's close. I paid like $1800 for this tv, which is less reliable than one of those tvs you can get at k-mart for $100. That is what really makes me mad about this product. The tv is pretty good as long as it works, but I never plan on buying another samsung product, especially if this one ends up dying on me after 15 months. Just don't even buy this tv. If you're going to buy a tv like this... do it from some place where you can get a warranty. I don't think Samsung even wanted you to know there was a warranty at all. It's on some boring looking sheet of paper that is easy to lose or throw away. It's not mentioned in the manual. I can only imagine what the support is like for this tv. Good luck to anyone who has one of these expensive bricks.

I had a Samsung LTM225W for 15 months and then it just went bad. (I replaced the power convertor to no avail). I'm now dealing with Samsung's extremely poor 12 month warranty offering. I've had TV last 20 years on me and now the most expensive TV I've ever bought didn't last 2 years! I'm very frustrated. If you buy Samsung products, consider getting an extended warranty plan since Samsung doesn't stand very firmly behind their products.

In all honesty.. I was expecting more from this tv. I read about it some and heard about all the great features, great resolution and all that. I thought it'd be nice to have a HDTV monitor for my computer and video games. The biggest thing I didn't realize was the computer resolution. I thought "wow 1280x720 that's great" .. however.. it wasn't until I got the tv that I realized what a strange resolution 1280x720 is. I have a Voodoo 5 5500 AGP gfx card in my computer and I didn't really think that it might not support 1280x720, and well.. surely enough it doesn't. My old 15" LCD monitor could do 1024x768, which is a pretty nice resolution. I didn't really think about the big tv not being able to do that resolution, but surely enough it doesn't. My gfx card does support 960x720 though.. which looks terrible.. the fonts in windows weren't made for it at all. In all simplicity, I'm stuck in an 800x600 world. On top of that I really thought the PIP looked nice with that split screen thing (most tvs don't have large enough PIP for it to be useful). It isn't very apparent until you get the tv that the PIP is very limited. There is one size PIP for the PC mode and you can only do your Antenna or Video (maybe s-video too) in it.. and you can only have the smallest size window. If you're buying this tv because you want it for a computer monitor, or even half way because of that, think twice. I will admit I have my xbox hooked up to the HDTV and it is absolutely FABULOUS. This doesn't really have to do with the tv but if you're looking into this tv for HDTV on your PS2, think twice. I bought hdtv cables for it and many games DID NOT WORK. The cables don't work at all with psx and with ps2 only some games worked, and most that did looked like crap. That's not a problem with the tv, but if that's your main use for the tv the tv won't be very valuable (though games still look good with s-video or normla RCA cables..) Oh and another big beef I had against this tv is there is NO AUDIO OUT. I read through the manual and it talks about hooking up to a stereo system, but it's saying to hook them up to the audio in places.. and there is no audio out.. so don't be looking to have surround sound and tv sound at the same time. Also, I've had my tv for about 5 or 6 months now, and sometimes the bottom 1/3 of my screen dims out some. I've taken VERY good care of my monitor and while it has had some accidental touches (grr @ stupid people), I don't feel that was enough to have the tv doing this. Whether they all break down like this or it's just mine I'm not sure, but that other guy seemed like he had some problems too. I wish now I had spent $1800 on a really nice computer monitor instead of this semi-worthless tv. I can't imagine any of ya'll buying it for that $2000+ price.. yeesh.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous picture
After spending a great deal of time looking for a flat screen LCD TV to replace our 24" Sony, I decided on the Samsung LTM225W.

My main criteria was resolution since a lot of LCD TVs look the same size but when you check ther resolution you get 640 x 480 and this translates to a fuzzy or pixilated picture. The LTM222W has great resolution and it shows up when you play a high quality DVD movie.

I've had it for about a month and have had no problems to date.

The price is fairly high but the quality is there. I noticed at Circuit City the difference easily since they had a dozen LCD TVs right next to each other with high quality DVD signal to them all. I predict that the old tube TV technology will be gone in 2 years. The prices should keep dropping.

Also the 16x9 widescreen format actually gives us a larger picture than our old 4x3 format 24" TV. I've noticed that most DVDs are in widescreen.

Amazon.com Product Description

From TV to movies, your programs have never looked better than they will with Samsung's TX-P3275H. This amazingly affordable integrated HDTV offers a built-in high-definition broadcast tuner, high-definition image resolution (1080i/720p/480p), and a multitude of inputs and picture enhancements for a detailed, high-contrast picture. The set's standard 4:3 dimension matches the aspect ratios of your favorite TV shows and old movies, and the set's DynaFlat screen minimizes both unwanted reflections and geometric distortions inherent in standard (non-flat) screens.

For the CRT (cathode-ray tube) screen, Samsung's proprietary DynaFlat technology delivers a perfectly flat viewing surface with none of the curvature, image distortion, or detrimental glare that accompany traditional TV screens. Hook the set up with any DTV set-top box or progressive-scan DVD player to take full advantage of its high resolution and picture-enhancing technologies.

This 800-line screen brings higher resolution than that achieved by earlier-generation sets because the individual phosphor color spots (or pixels) are smaller and closer together in this configuration. The set's multiple-focus electron gun illuminates finer spots for a more detailed picture, edge-to-edge, and it's assisted in this job by an 8-bit, 20 MHz, 3D Y/C digital comb filter and velocity-scan modulation circuitry.

Another set of image improvements is wrapped into Samsung's Pro Picture 3-stage video correction: Total DSP (Digital Signal Processing), Pro Chip Plus (converts all interlaced analog signals to superior, flicker-free progressive scan images), and the above-mentioned three-line digital comb filter (which analyzes multiple lines of picture information to better minimize edge image artifacts while improving transition detail).

The TX-P3275H performs 3:2 pulldown detection and reversal, a handy feature for watching progressive-scan movie programs in their native 24-frame format. Digital video mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture.

Connections include 2 auto-sensing high-definition component-video inputs, 2 S-video inputs, a trio of composite-video inputs (with accompanying stereo analog RCA audio inputs), 2 RF inputs (for an older VCR or cable box), and a set of audio/video outputs for feeding a DVR or VCR. Convenient side-panel audio/video inputs foster hookups with camcorders and gaming consoles while preserving the set's uncluttered silver front panel.

A zoom screen-filling option lets you customize the view of letter-boxed DVDs from the supplied remote control, while screen-capture picture freezing lets you view still images, even with broadcast television. Convenient side-panel buttons let you configure the set and access its menus without having to use the remote.

The TX-P3275H's 10 watts per channel (x 2) ensures sonic clarity and an ability to play loudly. Several sound mode offer dynamic audio settings for whatever you're watching; choose from standard, music, movie, speech, or custom. BBE High-Definition Sound improves speech intelligibility and restores the dynamic range of compressed musical passages.
