Amazon.com Review

You may not be familiar with the GPX C3948BI CD player, but it's a great unit and definitely worth your consideration. It's loaded with useful features, such as 22-track programming and random and repeat play modes. It comes with an adapter kit that lets you plug the player into your car's cassette player for tunes on the road and a six-digit LCD that shows the track number and time counter. And there's an impressive 40-second antiskip buffer, which GPX calls an Anti-Rolling System, to keep your tunes from jumping forward when you nudge the player.

The C3948BI itself is impressive for the price. It handled the tremulous, high notes of Dmitri Shostakovich without sounding shrill, and it delivered the thumping bass line of a Cowboy Junkies song without sounding muddy. The bass boost switch didn't produce the kind of bass you can feel, but for our taste and for a portable CD player it sufficed. At a midrange volume level we detected a slight hiss, but when we adjusted the volume up or down it went away.

Try as we might to foil the Anti-Rolling System by vigorously shaking the player, we couldn't get the player to skip while the antishock was engaged. Then we dropped it on the floor, and to our surprise this plastic clamshell-style player held together nicely. We found the controls sensibly placed, and the buttons big enough and easy to push.

Our one disappointment with the GPX C3948BI was its headphones. While they look sleek enough and have an inline volume control/remote, they were uncomfortable and produced weak sound. In fact, using a different pair of headphones, we discovered that the player was capable of better sound and higher volume than was detectable using the ones supplied. Otherwise, we found the GPX C3948BI a very satisfactory portable CD player. --Cintra Pollack

Pros:

  • Nice features for the price
  • Good antiskip protection
  • Delivered both high and low notes with pleasant clarity
Cons:
  • Slight hissing sound at midlevel volume
  • Uncomfortable headphones with poor volume output
  • No resume feature

5-0 out of 5 stars An unbeatable CD player at an excellent price!
Since my old CD player was skipping often and a bit outdated, I decided to try the GPX Blue Ice CD Player. At first, I had my doubts (I had never, ever heard of GPX in my life). Having used it, though, I have to admit that I am very satisfied. First of all, I absolutely love the icy blue color (who wouldn't?) and the way that you can see the spinning CD while you're listening. This player is surprisingly slender and lightweight, so it's easy to carry around. I thoroughly tested the ESP (Electronic Shock Protection) by dropping it, bopping it, and slapping it silly. It didn't miss a beat! And now for the coolest feature: Have you ever been bored out of your skull during a field trip or a looong car drive?(Is the Pope Catholic! ) Well, be bored no more! The GPX player's awesome car adapter kit is easy to use (you don't need to be an electronics whiz to use it), and it enables you to bring your music wherever you go. The bass boost system is also great. Best of all, this CD player is priced very nicely, so you can use the extra money towards a new set of headphones (The included pair is a tad flimsy). If you are a music fanatic (like me!), than I suggest you try out the GPX Blue Ice CD Player. I love it, and you will too!

4-0 out of 5 stars GPX-cellent!
This player is everything you could possibly want in a CD player...plus a couple of extras. Here's the scoop:

*The player itself looks really sleek and it's also cool that you can actually see the CD spinning while you're playing it.

*When I tested the ESP (Skip Protection), I shook it, smacked the cover, and even dropped it once or twice and IT DIDN'T MISS A BEAT!

*The car adapter kit works perfectly and you don't have to be a techno-whiz to figure out what goes where.

*It comes with all the cool features: track programming, intro (though I don't really use that feature), and my personal favorite, random track select.

And now, the downside:

*The headphones are flimsy. My suggestion is to buy another pair or use a pair you already have.

*One of my favorite features on other CD players is missing on this one and that is the Resume feature. If you don't know what that is, Resume makes it so if you stop the CD, it automatically resumes where you last left off when you hit play again.

*The ESP was working a little funny for a little while. It would play, but then the player would just shut down or something. Anyway, it seems to be working fine now.

Okay, class, let's review what we learned:

Pros: Cool look, easy to use, car adapter kit, and it doesn't skip a beat with ESP!

Cons: Flimsy headphones, no reume, and slight ESP trouble.

Bottom line: If you want a cool-looking CD player at an affordable price AND it comes with a car adapter kit, buy this one!

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing Product!!
I have had this for at least three years now, and it is still working as if I bought it yesterday! When I first saw it I thought it would break in a few months because it looks relatively cheap. But no, the player never broke and I have even dropped it a few times -- on the cafeteria floor. The only thing that I don't have anymore are the headphones, but those were actually cheap. I think they took about 6 months to a year to break? They still worked fine, but they had broken off from the tracking. Anyways, it's a really amazing piece even without the headphones -- plus I was able to get a new pair that I enjoy more.

Completely worth buying all in all. ^.^!!

2-0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for
I saw this CD player on sale at Amazon.com and thought, what a great deal! It was only $[money] or so at the time. Now, a year later, I realize it was too good to be true.

This CD player is lightweight and very easy to carry, which is one really good thing about it. When it works, the sound is also pretty good. However when it is bumped it doesn't play very well at all. This CD player also looks nice and I really liked the anti-skip feature, since I was primarily going to use it while running and driving- both bumpy activities. However, the CD player doesn't work well for either.

It is also awful on batteries - you can only play songs for about 45 minutes before it starts skipping and going out, and after an hour it just stops playing all together because it used all its batteries.

For one thing, the clear plastic case that covers where the CD fits into is very cheap and it cracked right away. Now that means it doesn't stay completely shut and in the middle of a song, it decides to stop reading the CD. In the car whenever there is the slightest bump, the CD player gets cranky and turns itself off for no reason. Then you have to start it all over again and find the song you were on.

While running it acts up as well, and I find myself having to hold it sideways, upside down, and every which way just to get it to play. Maybe this CD player would work well if you are sitting still and listeniing to it but other than that, it gives you all kinds of problems if you try to do anything besides that.

If you want a cheap CD player and are willing to settle for some problems it continually has, this one is a good bet. But otherwise I would recommend spending a little more money on a more reliable CD player. I wish I would have!

4-0 out of 5 stars This TV saved my butt!
Can't say enough about how handy and convenient this little box is! I was recently transplanted to Georgia...where even a "dusting" of snow makes everyday life grind to a halt. This past winter (99-00), northern Georgia (and much of the rest of the NE coast) got hit by a severe ice-storm. In the suburban Atlanta are where I live, downed power-lines left more than 500,000 homes without power for as long as 3 days! Mine was out for about 36 hrs. My little GPX 5" portable became the focus point of my house for the next day and a half! Loaded up with batteries, it let my son and I keep abreast of how the repairs were going and have tv entertainment in the evening. Now, my son uses it when he wants to sleep out in his backyard tent. Picture was sharp and clear with good contrast and little interference considering that it was receiving on it's internal telescoping antenna. Battery life was surprisingly long...I think we ran it for about 6 1/2 hours all togethter and we didn't run out of juice. And the thing is so lightweight that you can prop it on your tummy in bed and forget that it's there. Very happy with this little unit...and I'd recommend that everyone should have one stashed in a closet "just in case!"

I have one of these at home, and it is a pretty good little TV for the price. I recommend it for secondary uses around the home. And like I said in my title- the reception is pretty nice. ... Read more

AWESOME AS MY MOTHER ON A CAMAL AND BREAKING THE SOUND BARRIER!

1-0 out of 5 stars false advertisement
When I bought this item it said you could take either the words or the music out, it didn't, but I will give the company another chance by trying the GPX C1450 which advertises automatic voice control on the website. Next time I'll check it out before I buy.

We purchased one of these for christmas this year. We had it on lay-away for about 3 weeks. The box was not opened until Christmas Day. The CD player did not work. We can not find another one anywhere. The place where we purchased it from had it as a one time offer and will not get anymore. They couldn't replace it and the company won't fix it. This was just great since this was my son's BIG christmas gift this year.

Sounds great! I really would like to buy except they don't have it. What is the point of showing it to peole? Look on another site for it and once you found the place BUY! It is awsome

Amazon.com Review

The GPX FRS200 has more features than most radios in its class, including support for 14 channels and 38 subcodes, a call button, a two-milerange, and a backlit LCD. It's an easy-to-use FRS radio with a value price.

The FRS200 was up and running as soon as we popped in the requisite four AAAbatteries. In our tests, the radio's sound quality was excellent. Its range wascomparable to that of most FRS radios we've tested--one mile under averageconditions, two miles under ideal conditions. Unfortunately, we ran into a fewsnags when we tested some of the radio's more advanced features. The callbutton, supposedly used to transmit a short call tone to others tuned to thesame channel, transmitted nothing but static. Another feature that emits a shortbeep when the talk button is released (to let the others in your group know thatyou've finished transmitting) was more annoying than useful. Also, the radio'sbutton layout is cumbersome. For example, the backlight button is integratedwith the push-to-talk button and is far too easy to press accidentally. Finally, switching channels was more difficult than it should have been because the upbutton is recessed.

The FRS200 is a little thicker than an average FRS radio, but overall it'scompact and fits nicely in your hand. The construction of the FRS200 isn't asgood as that of the more expensive radios, nor is its overall design, but withsuch a low price, these tradeoffs are expected. The radio supports all 14channels assigned to FRS use, along with 38 subcodes per channel, so youshouldn't have trouble finding an available frequency.

Overall, if you can live with the FRS200's minor faults, we think you'll find ita surprisingly good bargain. --T. Byrl Baker

2-0 out of 5 stars Not for me
I purchased this CD player at a local store. I needed a portable device and this one was recommended by the store employee. I was only able to use the CD player sucessfully once, then it stopped working. I was trying to play a CD I purchased, not one that was CD-R. I would not recommend this CD player.

2-0 out of 5 stars Forget those CD-R's
This player works OK, except with CD-R's, which was one of the reasons I wanted it to begin with. My CD-R's play fine on my old player, but not this cute portable one. I was very disappointed.

1-0 out of 5 stars Consider another product.
I received this as a gift, so I'm glad I didn't have to shell for this. I am in agreement with the others who say that this product has defects. In my case, it is the radio. I listen to the radio more than I play cassettes or CDs, but it takes a ton of jiggling the settings slider before it will come on and stay on. And forget turning the radio off...then I must start the ritual again. It is very frustrating. The cassette player works well, and the cd player is adequate--not great--but adequate.

3-0 out of 5 stars Cute but fuzzy
This cd player is compact, cute and handy. However, especially when listening with headphones at low volumes there is a very annoying background buzz. It goes away at higher volumes. But- for the visually inclined, it looks great on my desk!

1-0 out of 5 stars looks don't count in this case!
I got this CD boombox because it looked awsome! But, in this case, looks do NOT count! I got this ONE year after I ordered it...and the sound is all crackly and uneven. The plastic (yes, PLASTIC) cover to the CD broke within half a week, and the speakers got scratched up and full of dust, though I tried cleaning it (WITHIN TWO WEEKS!) So, I suggest you TRY to look at other boomboxes before you buy this one, okay? (...) In my opinion, just stay on the safe side... ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars GPX has poor customer service
This player worked fine for about a year then it wouldnt reconize a DVD when it was put in, I called the company and they told me they didnt repair their players but would sell me another one. My Advice is stay away from GPX.

4-0 out of 5 stars Dont loose the remote!!!
Great system, great for parties, singing, watching the new DVD's. But dont loose the remote. You cant get a hold of the GPX company to get a new one. Anyone out there have an extra??? Get with me!!! Universal remotes dont work, and without one, you cant go to the next show, use the menu options or anything like that. Other than that, its a great system!!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars (...)
I purchased this DVD player thinking that It was going to be a high quality machine for the money. First off, the remote control hardly works and you have to stand a foot in front of the player for it to function. Second, the subtitles are always on by default which means that every time you turn on the machine you have to turn the subtitles off manually. Lastly, the quality the player is just poor. It constantly skips and stops to read the disk (even with a BRAND NEW movie in it). I would recommend getting something from Sony or Panasonic. (...)

3-0 out of 5 stars Karaoke & MP3's, it's only plus
The quality and features of the DVD player are not it's best features. I bought it for the MP3 and karaoke feature with the added bonus of the dvd player in the same unit. MP3 playing is decent but doesn't have a random mode. The dual karaoke is decent but not true karaoke (but what do you expect for the price!!). It appears that one can only do karaoke for CD's though. As for the DVD player, subtitles default to on for every movie. A bit annoying especially if using a universal remote where it doesn't have capabilities of turning it off. The remote is very slow for everything (FF, Play, menu, subtitles). The online games of tetris is thus hampered with the slow response of the remote. Overall, definately a good player for the money if placed in a bedroom and not the main entertainment room where a better quality DVD player is recommended.

Amazon.com Review

GPX has designed a refreshing all-in-one home theater system that's perfect for apartment dwellers and new initiates into the realm of DVD. The DV7000 DVD player and subwoofer-satellite speaker system takes up less space than some of today's boomboxes, and it's just as easy to hook up. As GPX boasts, "simply add your TV" and you're good to go to the movies from the comfort of your own easy chair.

We had the DV7000 system connected and ready for our home theater enjoyment in 45 minutes. The system comes packed in one large box that includes the model DV3000 DVD-video player and remote control, a subwoofer, four satellite speakers, and matching center speaker, along with five pairs of speaker cables of various lengths (up to 32 feet).

Also included is an integrated audio cable that routes the DVD player's decoded 5.1-channel Dolby Digital outputs to the subwoofer, which houses the system's amplifier, powering both itself and the other speakers.

The cable's multicolored connectors make it easy to match the DVD player's left, right, center, surround, and subwoofer outputs with the subwoofer's color-matched inputs, but be aware that the same handy color coding does not exist between the DVD player and the cable.

GPX offers RCA-style connectors on the rear of the center and satellite speakers, unusual for speaker connections but actually very convenient. We were impressed by the inclusion of extra-long wires for the rear satellite speakers, which let us place them 18 feet from the subwoofer and six feet above the floor--with plenty of room to spare.

The DV7000 system includes the model DV3000 DVD player, a fairly basic unit by today's standards. It does, however, offer the added benefit of karaoke compatibility, a rare but potentially scene-stealing feature.

A pair of front-panel microphone inputs are great for families with Sonny & Cher imitators and aspiring "wedding singers." However, the system does not come with microphones, so if you're into karaoke, be sure to pick up a pair of mics, along with a pair of AA batteries to operate the remote.

The DV7000 also offers a built-in Dolby Digital decoder, an increasingly rare feature among today's fifth-generation DVD players. The built-in decoder and supplied connection cables let you plug in and play the system without the need for a space-gobbling surround receiver or any additional components--except a TV. (If you already have a surround receiver, the DVD player also sports a coaxial digital-audio output to bypass its internal decoding.)

Ergonomically, the DVD player and remote control are fairly easy to navigate, though we'd prefer to have the menu's "enter" button in the center of the up/down, left/right arrows, where it would be more intuitive. We'd also prefer one-touch subtitle on/off buttons that don't require the additional step of selecting on or off from the onscreen menu.

In terms of the player's performance, we were a little alarmed by the DV7000 model we tested. It demonstrated errors on several DVDs that have never given us problems in the past. Normally, when a DVD decoder stumbles, it skips entire segments or freezes up completely. And it's usually the result of an especially challenging disc--such as The Matrix--combined with a low-quality digital-to-analog video converter.

The errors we encountered with the DV7000, however, included brief freezes of maybe one second that occurred consistently, about halfway through all discs, leading us to suspect this is an isolated problem with the unit we tested, which may (or may not) be related to dust inside the laser mechanism.

The floorstanding subwoofer has a built-in amplifier and 5.1-channel inputs that enable it to power the speakers with semirespectable sound in a small listening space. The sub delivers 10 watts to each of the four satellite speakers and the center-channel speaker, along with 35 watts for its own low-frequency duties, offering a total of 85 watts.

Measuring 20 inches long by 8 inches wide and 15 inches high, the subwoofer is more attractive than most, with a dark faux-wood vinyl coating on the sides and a curved, black face. The sub relies on two front woofers--one firing at a downward angle, the other slanting upward.

Compared to more expensive subs, the DV7000's sub was disappointing during action flicks. Thunder and other low-frequency sound effects kicked in with no subtlety at all. Fortunately--or unfortunately, depending upon one's point of view--the subwoofer kicked in rather infrequently, as we set both the volume and the bass levels at medium. One minor disappointment was the inability to control the sub's volume from the remote, forcing us out of our comfortable chairs from time to time.

What the GPX subwoofer lacks in subtlety and bass extension, however, the system makes up for with style and grace. In that regard, GPX merits bonus points. The satellite speakers--four matching egg-shaped wonders--measure only 4 inches tall. The center speaker is slightly shorter, but wider, with a larger driver that offers good horizontal dispersion and better midrange performance than its cousins. The satellites and center speaker are surprisingly heavy due to their metal enclosures and metal grilles.

Each black Faberge-like satellite has a flat base that props it firmly on a shelf and keeps it from tipping over. Each satellite also has a rear thread for a wall mount. Unfortunately, the mounts are not included. We found the supplied cables sufficient for a small living room, with the longest cable measuring more than 30 feet.

Audio performance from the speakers is largely dependent on one's taste in movies. Bear in mind, this speaker system is not designed to play music with the kind of dexterity one expects from full-range or even box-shaped bookshelf speakers. So if you like to play concert DVDs, we recommend replacing or supplementing the diminutive left and right speakers with a pair of larger bookshelf or floorstanding models. Ditto for listening to music CDs.

Bear in mind, this system was designed for decor-conscious folks with space limitations. The GPX DV7000 Dolby Digital home theater system is not intended to be put through the same rigorous audio tests as full-range systems that cost three to five times as much.

The speakers are very small and, dare we say, really cute. The entire system is extremely simple to set up and operate. Whatever it lacks in audio performance, it makes up for through the sheer pleasure of being able to set up a six-channel home theater system in under an hour without so much as a wire crimp and without having to rearrange the living room furniture. That, in and of itself, is refreshing. --Eric Gill

Pros:

  • All-in-one system, extremely easy to hook up
  • Satellite speakers can be almost completely hidden from sight
  • Impressive build quality relative to price

Cons:

  • Subwoofer-satellite speaker balance can't be controlled from the remote
  • DVD player prone to occasional, brief freezes
  • Satellite speakers offer no midrange presence

1-0 out of 5 stars Just Say NO to GPX
I recieved for Christmas a gift of the GPX DV7500(I know that this is the DV7000); however there was not a listing for the DV7500 and I am compelled to let discerning shoppers know what they will get when they buy GPX product. I hooked up the theater system in Janurary and well enjoyed it for the most part. I have read other reviews where they talked about the DVD automatically going to subtitles when left in the player. This does happen. There are times when the remote seemed not to function and then it would. I did notice that at times it acted as if the player was having difficulty reading a disc in a spot even on brand new DVD's. These were minor problems to me. The major problem occured when I went to watch a DVD three nights ago and zap the power failed. I checked the power source and nothing was wrong or out of the ordinary. I became frustrated and discussed the matter with the person that had given me the DV7500. I found out where it had been purchased and called them. They told me that it was something that I would have to take up with GPX and I should consult the manual for a number. So, I did just that; only to find that the number in question was a long distance number. I was not about to pay for a call to a company that in my opinion is selling cheaply manufactured product. Then I thought about going online; seeing if they had a website. Luckily, they were not hidding completely and so I emaied them. I was then informed that I would have to send to them at my expense this broken product that was no longer under warrenty. They also said that I should check around and see if I could obtain a free estimate on fixing the player. Basically saying that it was my problem, but that if I wanted to talk to someone about an exchange I would have to call the long distance phone number. This came to no suprise to me that they are hidding behind this number and not standing up for their product. They know that they are making equipment that works for only 6 months. I did not even have this player for a full year. That is the most alarming thing about this whole event; that I did not even get a full year out of something that should have lasted longer. I think that in the area of consumer concern; I found that the people at GPX have none. I have only had two VHS players in the space of 20 years (the one I currently use is only 5 years old) now they were well built. So the moral to this story is stay as far away from any GPX product; because even though the price seems to be right you will get what you pay for(cheaply manufactured product that will not last you long).

3-0 out of 5 stars Great price, lots of spaghetti
I bought this DVD as my first "home theater". I think it is a great entry level system. Those who wrote that it is easy to install, however, were perhaps being a touch rosy in their statements. The instructions are multiple and it takes a while (at least it took me a while!) to figure out which set to follow. Still, that is a minor gripe. More problematic are the miles of wire to cram behind your TV and to trail across your room if you want the surround sound. My wife complained at the mess...

Only about one half to two-thirds of my CD's will play and, easily the most irritating problem, the sound on my DVD's sometimes goes off and it takes a lot of messing around (skipping forwards and back, switching on and off) to get it back. This is a decent system for the price but it is not problem free.

4-0 out of 5 stars Movie Theater Move Over
Unbelivable sounds, feels like your in a movie theater, great base,
surround sound gets you right into the movie, easy hook up.
ONLY down side for me was that I have A 1996 TV w/o jacks Had to buy A R/F box (...). Over all Great system 4****

4-0 out of 5 stars An all-in-one solution
I picked this system because it was an all-in-one system. It gave me the DVD, the reciever/decoder and the speakers all in one package at one great price. I love it---easy installation and great sound and picture---at a great price. The small speakers are great for limited space. The only think keeping me from a 5 rating is that one of my CDs was not "recognized" by the DVD player (it was a store-bought music CD). But all others where fine and after viewing about 5 DVDs and listening to a few CDs, no problems have been encountered.

4-0 out of 5 stars Basic Blocking and Tackling
This is a great way to get home theater into your home at a very reasonable price. I have not used any of the karaoke features of the system, but the surround sound on certain DVDs (The Gift, Sleepy Hollow) would make me swear ghosts are breathing down my neck. The speakers are TINY but could easily be upgraded. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Dont bother
I got this, thinking it would be a handy thing to have for my sister, who lives in a hurricane prone area. It never, ever worked. You get what you pay for, and this was junk.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Gift For The Entire Family
This is one rugged flashlight made by the well reputed GPX company. It is water-resistent, has a powerful beam, an am/fm radio to keep you in touch with the outside world (important during power outages), and cleverly, the handy carrying strap is also the antenna!

We use ours ( 3 of them ) for stormy weather, camping, lake adventures and the youngest teen still loves to read by flash-light under his comforter. A great gift of fun and practicality for everyone in your family---all at a great price. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Great unit until it broke.
I bought this GPX unit looking for a ..., digital radio to use while jogging. The good news is that the radio worked well, the unit stays on your head well while jogging, and even though build construction wasn't great I was happy given the low price.

After three months the AM radio stopped working. I still use it on FM stations, but I wish I had spent a few extra dollars and bought the Koss headphone radio. I had a Koss model that lasted for 5+ years through all sorts of abuse.

2-0 out of 5 stars Needs to be sturdier
For the first few weeks this headset was fine for morning workouts. Good sound, comfortable fit, relatively easy to use. I've had it about six months and the flaws in the design are becoming evident and annoying. The little metal parts like the screws have corroded, the set gets stuck on a single channel -- not the one I want -- and it's impossible to change, it goes through batteries way too quickly, and sometimes it just doesn't work. The channel settings are lost when you change batteries, so I stopped using that feature after the second battery swap-out. The low-battery indicator light always seems to be on no matter how fresh the batteries are. As new as my unit is, I feel like it's on its last legs. This said, if the company came out with a much better version of the same product I would buy it because the basic concept is strong.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for outdoor exercising!!
This product is so great! I go for a run and everythings perfect! it's batteries are so longlasting, and its great for outdoor running..

I recommend this only if you go outside and exercise a lot.. If not, then I'd just reccomend any other radio.. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't Go Back In Time, Move Foward
It's the year 2001 And we have lots electronic ablities. LET'S USE THEM!! I only gave the item 2 stars because it has the look of 2001, but as most of us should know looks aren't everything. If we have these tecnoligies we should use them. Why didn't you put color? Why not put black and white? Well most people these days I would say would enjoy siting down with a bowl of popcorn and watching a good movie on tv. (In color) People like it better because you can see more details. Like what kind of day it is. And what a beautiful blue (Color) the ocean looks today. I don't know about the rest of you, but from my point of view this item gets 2 stars.

1-0 out of 5 stars Picture blew after Six Months -- big disappointment
Bought this tv in December. Initially loved it. Fun color, perfect size, etc. BUT THE PICTURE BLEW -- WITH SPARKS AND SMOKE -- AFTER JUST SIX MONTHS OF USE!! VERY DISAPPOINTING.

1-0 out of 5 stars Broke after 3 months
It was a great set, but it didn't last; the picture went out after three months.

1-0 out of 5 stars BUYER BEWARE!
Don't be fooled by the pretty packaging. This tv is a LEMON. Three days ago, mine blew it's picture tube and nearly caught on fire in my living room! How long did I have it? 4 MONTHS! Save your money and buy a brand that's built to last.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good size to take around with you
This is a great compactable tv. You can take this around with you anywhere, even in the car on a road trip! You can also hide it in small places. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good radio for the money. We use it in our son's bedroom.
Don't expect to use this as a soundsystem for a party. The sound is lousy at higher volumes.

Overall quality is good. The CD player works very well and the tape player is fine too. Radio reception is very good. I can pick up some distant stations. The antennae isn't the greatest. The handle gets in the way of the antennae. We haven't had a single problem with it and we've used it daily for almost a year.

But it is a good deal for the money. I would buy one again.

We use is mostly in our 3 year old son's room to play some quiet bedtime music.

4-0 out of 5 stars PRETTY GOOD LOW-TECH CD PLAYER
My mom got me this CD player a couple years ago for Christmas and I have used it ever since. It doesn't really have the features of the more expensive stereo systems such as bass boost, surround sound, etc... but the sound quality is a lot better than these other reviewers are making it out to be(it seems like the only people who ever review electronics are people who got ones that don't work). It actually plays some of my CD's that are too scratched up for my expensive 45-second ESP portable CD player which is great because otherwise I would have ended up buying a whole bunch of newer CDs. I have noticed also that if it doesn't play a scratched CD the first time, it gets better with each time you play it. God knows why that is, but I'm not complaining. Anyway, this CD player has pretty good sound (the part in Led Zeppelin's What is and What Shall Never Be where the guitar goes back and forth between the left and right channels comes across great), it plays scratched CD's, and you should buy it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Stopped working a week after the waranty expired
The CD player on this unit stopped working within a week of the warranty expiring.

4-0 out of 5 stars Little Boom
As an entry level box, it is not bad for a child to get started with electronics. The compactability of the unit is terrific for small hands and the price is outstanding. A good value!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good value for the money
This is by no means a high quality stereo. For alow volume, background music type situation it's great. I use it in the OR where it does a great job. Also it's very small an light which is another good feature. One major problem is that it doesn't have a track counter...but for this price, who cares? ... Read more

(...) In my opinion, just stay on the safe side... ... Read more
