1-0 out of 5 stars sounds like i'm talking out of a barrel
This phone was definately not worth the money.
The sound quality is very poor--sounds very tinny with an echo. Long distance phone calls are muffled, and the volume doesn't go very high. Reception is fine, but I wouldn't recommend this phone. One could probably find a phone for cheaper and of a better quality. Don't buy GE.

1-0 out of 5 stars Phone Blows Chucks
I've tried to use this phone as my business phone for some time. I've got a headset and I can't get enough volume out of it. If you dial a number and hit the talk button the phone will sometimes skip digits and you will get an error.

I will not be buying GE phones again. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice radio with alot of options.
I take this radio fishing and the temperature reading is really nice. Great reception and loud crisp audio. I use NIMH rechargeable batteries with this radio and they work great.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the sleeper radio of the FRS world.
My first experience with this radio was a used one I bought in an auction. There were no instructions and I had to figure out all the features. It wasn't that difficult, but contrary to the description by Amazon, this radio does NOT have the scramble feature. I liked this radio so much I bought a new one. Armed with the instructions, I found features I didn't know existed. The GE 35840 is one of a handful radios that have programmable memory. You can set up to 10 different channel/CTCSS tone combinations. Another feature not found in many FRS radios is the memory scan. Now this may not seem important but it does provide a bit of security to your conversations. I programmed both my GE 35840 radios to scan 4 different channel and CTCSS tone combinations. When I transmit on one, a random selection from the 4 memories I have programed is selected. While scanning the other radio picks-up the transmission in about 1/2 second. What this does is make it difficult for anyone trying to listen in on your conversation to keep track of you. You are talking on 4 different channel/CTCSS combinations at random. They may hear bits and pieces of your conversation, but that's all. Also, when scanning all channels the GE 35840 will sync to the CTCSS tone when it senses a signal. This happens in about 1/2 second. Another nice feature is the temperature display. Along with the temperature, this radio will also receive NOAA weather transmissions. Battery usage is very good and this radio takes 3 AA batteries for a long battery life. The speaker/mic external connections works great with ICOM/Radio Shack speaker mics. You will not have to buy a high-prices model that only the manufactorer sells. Range and sound quality is very good. I have about 7 different brands of FRS radios and this one is my favorite. If you can pickup a couple, do so!

2-0 out of 5 stars Worked OK for 1st 15 months..then randomly loses power
I bought this phone about 17 months ago for my work-at-home office..I wish I could plug my headset into the base unit as I sometimes forget to put handset back on re-charger cradle..and I am then forced to use speaker on conf calls.
The phone worked well for the first 15 months and only lately...
(Now that the warranty is up) has it been randomly dieing durng a call.
The base unit simply loses power and I must pull out and then re-connect the power at the back of the phone to restore operation...By then I've lost other party..
I will not buy a GE phone again...

1-0 out of 5 stars Simply horrible
I have purchased a lot of high end electronics, phones, etc. This may be the worst purchase ever. After about 6 months..the LCD screen went bad, sound on the other end muted, and reception horrible. I literally after 6 months threw the phone away and replaced with Vtech and Motorola. Save your money and go with one of the other brands.

1-0 out of 5 stars A phone that doesn't ring...
I bought this phone the other day as a replacement to a $9 corded phone that died. When I hooked it up, the speaker phone and handset got dialtone no problem. I then called the phone from my cell phone and it didn't ring. All the other phones in the house rang, but this one didn't. I then moved it to another jack, same thing. I then called again and it rang. I called again, no ring. I called about 20 times and about 1/3 of the time it rang, 1/3 of the time it rang only once, and 1/3 of the time it didn't ring at all. I brought the phone back to the place I bought it to get a new one and had the exact same problems. After messing with this phone for about 3 hours, I finally bought a $19 900Mhz phone at the local *Mart that works fine.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst Phone Ever
This phone looks beautiful but it is not worth your money. It has a lot of static and at times will not work at all. Do not buy this product or one that resembles it. I have never been more disappointed with a phone.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good product
Phone works well. 3 kids in house so it gets abused but has held up well. Answering machine is easy for wife to use. Volume buttons are easy to change accidentaly, wish these were in a different location. The antenna flashes when the phone rings, great when watching tv or listening to cd's. I would buy this phone again. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Price, Not too shaby Quality
I liked the price of this DVD wheN I bought it. I paid more than what it is now. I do notice that about after watching 2 hours of movies there is a bit of a glitch in the video, not audio though. That is the only thing that I noticed to be the probelm with the DVD player it self, otherwise its a good player.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointment due to frame freeze
I have had this player for about two weeks now - I am extremely disappointed with the performance. The first night that we used the player, about two hours into play I experienced numerous frame freezes, which interrupted not only my video, but also the audio. I thought it might be the DVD until I tried a second DVD and had the same problem. I truly expected more from General Electric in quality and performance. I would not recommend the purchase of this player to anyone.

3-0 out of 5 stars What happened?
I bought my G.E. DVD player about a year ago and I really didn't use it very much most of my movies are still VHS, so I'm really discouraged from by any more G.E. products with what I have read and from what is happening with mine. At first it would take in the disc and every once in a while-while it was loading it would lock up. Then it started freezing a ways into the movie, and I had to power it down and it wouldn't run any more until it cooled off some, so I let it sit when every it did this very annoying though. Now it is taking in the disc says it is loading and never does you can hear the little motor working, eventually it stops and tells me there is no disc. I figured since it isn't working for me anyway I'd remove the cover and see what it was doing and I loaded a disc and watched it. You can see the motor is working, but it isn't turning the disc you can kind of jump start it by carefully turning the disc while it is in place and it will play the movie, but only for about 5 minutes and then it just says disc and no picture. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone as many people that have had the same or similar problems with this you would think that G.E. would be concered about what was going on and how they could improve it. I gave it three stars, because it was working okay for a little bit, but guys I don't consider this a use a few times and throw away product. I just expected more from G.E. than I should of I guess. Hope my information helps someone. If anything show some people they aren't alone.

2-0 out of 5 stars Piece of junk.
This DVD Player is a piece of junk. The only reason I gave it 2 stars was because I can get about two hours of good viewing time PER DAY before the thing overheats and skips and freezes to the point where it spits out the disk and says that it cannot read it. This is a very poorly designed machine. There are NO airvents anywhere on the machine. No heat can escape, which leads to overheating, which causes it to skip like crazy. I used to be very fond of GE. Now I'm not so sure. Reading over the reviews has assured me that this is not an isolated incident. DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE!

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't even think about getting this dvd player
I got this player as a Christmas gift and it was running fine on some of my movies but it would freeze on others. Finally, it quit after running Monsters Inc. Now none of my movies play and getting decent customer service form Thomson is a joke. I still don't have the answers I need and all they want is a credit card # for a replacement with no guarantees of this not happening again. Do yourself a favor and don't bother with this player. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Good buy for the price
This is a great mouse for the price being optical and wireless. I see others complaining about the wake up time after not using it for a while but come on it runs on batteries you have to conserve them. Also, I thought others would like to know that even though it is made for Windows, it works quite well on Mac OS X 10.2.5 with no drivers.

3-0 out of 5 stars ok for price
This mouse is good for its price. There is no other mouse on the market that is wirless and optical for this price. The 2 side buttons are not located in the best place. The mouse did stray a few times (some RF interferance). I did not use for it long range and so can't comment on it performance from that aspect. If you are use to a ball wired mouse it will take some time to get use to the shape of this one. Did not come across any major issues.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome, Just awesome
My neighbor picked this mouse up at Target for $20 for use on his PC that resides in his room. Well the mouse would only work about 3-4 feet from the base so I was like, "Why not add a larger antenna? It's RF (Radio-Frequency) afterall..." So he agreed. We used his AM antenna loop that came with his stereo and soldered to the two wires to different points on the original antenna loop. (NOTE: The original loop is integrated into the circuit board... Some scratching the mask off to expose the copper is needed for this mod) We then proceeded to test out the new antenna and the mouse worked a good 20 feet away from the base... So for $20, an AM antenna loop, some soldering skill, and a little time, we had a top performing mouse!

BTW, you must use an AM antenna as it is tuned to the same freq. the mouse uses. We tried a piece of wire and it did nothing because it wasn't tuned to the proper freq.

Can you tell I'm 15? Key word is,"And I was like"... I believe it's known as uptalk...

1-0 out of 5 stars Worked sporatically and briefly after much hassle
Dont get it , hard to sync and it is almost impossible to sync up. (Need to hold 2 buttons down at the same time and planets need to be alligned etc......)

5-0 out of 5 stars I got the mouse and keyboard
I picked up the GE wireless keyboard and mouse, even after reading some negative reviews here, because of a great sale price. I have been using them both for about a month now, and I haven't experienced any trouble. I would like to add that mine aren't eating batteries, either. I love the keyboard action. And the function keys actually tell you what their function is! I find that nice since I didn't know their purpose. The mouse is sensitive, using it at first was like learning to use a mouse in the beginning. By now I've got it down and no more wild movements all over the place. Great equipment at a great price! ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

The 21006ge3 from GE is a 2.4 GHz phone system with an extra handset and charging cradle, as well as many other useful extras. The second handset allows you to have multiple phone placements but doesn't require a second phone jack, so you can place it anywhere you have an electrical socket. By utilizing the 2.4 GHz frequency with digital spread spectrum technology, the 21006ge3 is able to offer clearer, more intelligible reception and at a greater distance than traditional analog phones. A 40-channel autoscan automatically chooses the clearest channel, while a digital security feature helps prevent unauthorized users from accessing your phone line.

Caller ID and call waiting compatible, the 21006ge3 has a 40-name-and-number memory, while a 50-number memory dialer allows you to store frequently used numbers. A display-and-dial feature lets you easily scroll through the caller ID or memory list and then call the displayed number with the touch of a button. You can also transfer caller ID entries to the memory dialing for later use.

Headset compatibility allows you to add an optional headset for hands-free communications, and a belt clip is provided for freedom of movement. An illuminated keypad makes dialing in poorly lit environments a snap, while a page/handset locator makes finding a lost handset quick and easy. A handset-to-handset intercom lets you communicate with the other handset, and you can even use the handsets in walkie-talkie mode. Three-way conferencing lets you communicate with multiple parties at the same time, while a redial button lets you easily dial the last outgoing number (up to 24 digits).

A low batter indicator lets you know when to return the phone to its charging cradle, which can be mounted on the wall, freeing up counter top space completely. The 21006ge3 also comes backed with a one-year limited warranty.

3-0 out of 5 stars Pros & cons of the GE 2.4 GHz Dual Handset Phone - 21006GE3
The reason I purchased a dual phone system was to avoid wiring a second wall jack to my bedroom.

I chose this particular phone system mainly because it was priced better than other similar phones. The better security of the 2.4 GHz frequency and especially the DSS (Digital Spread Spectrum) security feature were also a deciding factor.

My biggest concern is the sound quality. Though it has great range, I register a slight hiss as though I'm calling long distance. I also hear a few clicks now and then, though very infrequently. I cannot rule out my immediate environment as a possible cause, but since I am not in a densely populated area, I find my environment an unlikely candidate. The quiet hiss is present between handsets as well as on calls, ruling out my phone line. I've turned off all my electrical equipment with no improvement. The hiss is so slight that it is easily tolerated.

This would be a good phone system for both business and home use. However, I believe it is not expandable beyond two handsets. Both units have a nice small footprint. You can page both handsets from the base to find them. It has the typical functions of flash, redial, mute and hold. You can transfer calls from one handset to another, telling your co-worker who is on the line before he or she accepts the transferred call. Intercom and conferencing are also possible. The number pad and talk buttons are big enough for ease of use. The special function buttons are a little small.

There is a special walkie-talkie mode that allows you to talk to each handset independent of the base unit. The only benefit of the walkie-talkie mode over the intercom function is that it allows you to communicate between each handset even if your power is out.

Each phone is programmable independent. You can select from six different rings, or no ring at all. You can adjust the volume (four levels) during a call, though the volume control buttons are small and hard to adjust without taking the phone away from your face. You can label each handsets display (IE - Upstairs, Downstairs, John, Mary etc.).

It has 40 caller ID records and 50 programmable speed dials (max of 24 digits each). The 24 digits are not really a limitation however since you can cascade the speed dials (IE - press DIR 01 to dial your calling card 800 number, then press DIR 02 to dial your calling card access code and then DIR 35 to dial your party). Unfortunately you cannot toggle through the directory list after the first speed dial. In other words, you can toggle through the directory list to your first number (your calling card 800 number) but you have to remember the second and third speed dials by their corresponding number (02, 35).

The directory does not list the speed dial numbers alphabetically; the numbers are listed by their corresponding speed dial number (01, 02, 03, etc.). This is typical of business speed dials. You, of course, can edit the list to be alphabetical, but this is a hassle.

There is an interesting security function call registration, de-registration. This function allows you to de-register all handsets in case you lose one, then re-register only the remaining handset.

I was worried that my 2.4 GHz wireless router for my computer would interfere with this 2.4 GHz phone, but I found no related problems with the phone. However, I have not yet throughly tested my router/computer connection to see if the phone might interfere with it. I want to reiterate here that I disconnected all my electronic equipment in hopes of stopping the quiet hiss, to no avail. I hope this review was helpful.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Expandable Phone System for the money.
I purchased this dual handset system about a year ago, and for the money it has performed much better than I expected it to. In fact, it works better (less static and clicks, clearer sound) than many other more pricey cordless brands I have owned in the past.
I recently purchased another of these systems (at half the price I paid originally), hoping that I could register the 2 new handsets with the old base unit (this is not a documented function) - and it worked! Now, I have one phone outlet and four handsets - for less than what other expandable systems cost for only 2 handsets.
GE has recently replaced this model with a new updated model, but the older model can still be found if you search the 'Net. I read the online documentation for the new system, and it looks like the only changes are cosmetic and the menuing system is different. So my guess would be that you could use 4 handsets with the new one as well.
Overall, this is the best, most versatile cordless system I have owned. Many easy to use features, decent styling, and it works!

1-0 out of 5 stars You will not get what you ordered!
I ordered this phone and it is not the same phone described! Beware, the specs are not accurate.

1-0 out of 5 stars DON'T waste your money!
These phones are horrible. The sound quality is awful, sounds like you are talking inside of a tunnel. There is an annoying clicking sound that occurs in nearly every phone call. Sometimes it's not so bad, other times it's non-stop and even seems to get faster. There is no button to change between channels, so the static is always there. The caller id doesn't work consistently. It seems to only register the call if I answer it. Forget checking it to see who called while I was out.

Bottom line, these are the worst phones I have ever owned. Please save yourself some sanity and buy something reliable.

3-0 out of 5 stars Echos
This phone has a very distinct echo effect to it. The battery is great, can leave off the charger for days w/o battery problems. I like the Caller ID view as well as the hold and paging capabilities. ... Read more
