1-0 out of 5 stars Yikes...
I bought a QPS back in April, I had configuration issues right away.
I followed the tech support format and emailed them. Giving them benefit of possibly being busy or email issues I emailed four times over four weeks from seperate servers. They do not respond through support.
Now the hardware failed, I repeated the email attempts with no response and have phone support three times in two weeks to give up in Cue after 45 minutes. No 1-800 number.
Now I have a very high phone Bill coming and a useless QPS device that I will eat also.
Please don't allow companies like this to thrive, which they all too commonly do in todays market.
Buy elsewhere.

4-0 out of 5 stars Perfectly fine...works great...Buy it if the price is good
What can you say? It's a PCI firewire adaptor. It installs
effortlessly (no driver disk required) in Win2k / WinXP.
It works effortlessly, too.

This is a rebadged SIIG firewire card that uses the VIA chipset,
which is well-liked, and generally very compatible, chipset.

It also comes with Ulead video editing software.

If the price is good,
go for it...

5-0 out of 5 stars Very nice PCI card!
I bought this PCI card because I was getting a external hard drive that used USB 2.0. The installation instructions were very good and when I turned my computer on and inserted the driver cd everything installed without having to do a thing. I would recommend this product to anyone that is upgrading there USB.

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth the money. Solved my problem and makes life easier.
I got the card to add off board USB support to my Dell computer. It had difficulty handling a 4 port USB hub attached to the computer supplied USB ports. The card went in with no problem. The instructions worked as provided for Windows XP Home Edition.

Once installed, the goal was to move a 4 port USB 1.1 hub off the main ports and attach a CD-RW that could take advantage of the USB 2.0 speed. All of this was done simply and effectively. I'd get use product again in an instant.

2-0 out of 5 stars More older Mac compatibility problems
Just like Joe, I read the box and thought this card would work with my Mac G3 All-In-One because the only requirement was OS X. It did work fine, with my printer and keyboard.

Then I tried to use an external USB2 hard drive, and it was really slow (USB 1 speeds). Then IOGear told me my hardware isn't supported.

I even have a G3! But they don't support Beige, only Blue & White. (All-in-one is like Beige.)

Read carefully!

... we're supposed to check the website before buying any of their products? Well, no big deal, I probably won't buy any more of their products.

...

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy To Install and Use
I Checked the Dell site and printed out Safety and Installation instructions (after checking the card's compatibility with my computer and XP system)

The IOGEAR PCI card installed easily and was recognized right away. Noticed a definite increase in speed with the new USB 2 port. I'm ordering another one for my other PC.

1-0 out of 5 stars Warning to older Mac users!!!
Don't take the fact that it works with Mac OS 8.6 to mean that it will work with all Macs! After installing it in my PPC8500 with Mac OS 9.1 I found that although it was registering as installed it wouldn't function as a USB device. After calling tech support I learned that only Beige or Blue and White G3 and newer machines ran this card! This is not mentioned anywhere on the box!!! It only mentions that USB 2.0 works with OS X only. I'm never purchasing from Iogear again! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy Installation, low CPU, excellent video
I don't understand the installation problems another reviewer mentioned. I put the CD, installed the Videowave software, then plugged in the USB Videobus II, let Windows XP's hardware wizard "automatically" find the right driver, and it worked immediately. I used Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1, on a 2.4 GHz P4 laptop.

Captures I420 and RGB24, among others. Can do a full CIF (352x288) 30 fps capture that is silky smooth. This is much better than most of these capture devices, I can tell you. Many don't support 352x288 (only 320x280), or drop the framerate, or capture with horrible horizontal interlacing lines.

I didn't use any of the prepackaged software, or capture to disk. I only wanted it for live video capture for videoconferencing, and it works terrific for that. And at about 63 dollars, you can't beat the price for this quality.

You will need a good quality NTSC analog camera to plug into it - just be aware.

2-0 out of 5 stars The hardware is a piece of garbage, but the software is nice
The Belkin videobus II I bought said "Works With Windows XP" on the box, when I got it home I found that it didn't have a driver that would work with with Win XP, on the Belkin website there was a driver that would work, but it was a week driver. Every time I plugged the thing up Windows couldn't locate the driver, so I had to reinstall it. Finialy the wire shorted somewhere in the center, so every time I moved the thing would disconect and reconect when I moved again! Finialy I got tierd of it, so I threw it away and got a Hauppague videobus, and it has worked good for me for the last several months.

The only good part of the deal was the MGI software, the Belkin Videobus I purchaced came with a video editor and a photo suit.
The MGI Videowave IV is a much better program than the Windows Movie Maker that came with Windows XP, and the MGI Photosite III is a good photo editing program, togeather they were probably worth the price of the Belkin VideobusII I threw away.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty dern good
I got the VideoBusII for amatuer video work, and it's worked out well. The piece of hardware itself has had no problems, just make sure it's right for your camcorder. The software takes some getting used to, but once I figured it out I was able to have fun doing the basics--simple editing and effects. Nothin too fancy, but if that's what you want, it could be just right.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not very pleased
I bought this video editing software with hopes of being able to capture clear images, but all I got was a low-resolution photograph. I could never get the audio to play while viewing live video, but for some reason the audio played back with the recording after playback. This happened while playing a DVD into the device. This product might be OK for Internet use if uploading video, but if you want to capture a clearer image and produce quality video don't waste your money on this product. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Generally worked well on Mac OS 10.3 and Windows XP
I installed this card on a Mac Dual G4 running Mac OSX 10.3 and also on a Dell PC running Windows XP. On both machines it worked fine with no need to download drivers.

I did have a problem when I plugged a Zip drive (USB 1.1 device) into the card and put my Mac to sleep. It would not wake up. I don't know if this is a problem with the Iomega driver or USB card. The computer sleep function worked fine with the Zip plugged into the Mac's built-in USB 1.1 port. I've heard there can be some problems with some devices or cards not being compatable with the sleep function, but when I sent an e-mail to Keyspan tech support to ask about this, I never received an answer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Works great in my G4 Mac
1) Shut down computer
2) Open computer case
3) Put anti-static-strap on wrist and clip to metal on computer case (important any time you fool around inside a computer)
4) Insert card
5) Close computer case
6) Boot up computer
Done.

Works just great on my G4 Mac. No drivers to install, nothing to download or adjust, no jumpers, no nothing. Plug it in and it works. Another good experience with Keyspan (and Apple) -- I will continue buying their stuff as long as they keep putting out good products. :)

1-0 out of 5 stars Mine was defective
I thought that this product was a good buy. 5 USB 2.0 ports, and works with a Macintosh. However, the card I got did not work with my mac (Beige G3 with revision B ROM). Keyspan says that it is defective. I decided to try a different brand. The IOGEAR GIC250U 5 port USB 2.0 card is also supposed to work with the mac.

1-0 out of 5 stars Even if mine is a lemon, RUN AWAY!!!
.
It's possible that the card I bought is defective, and that technical support has yet to acknowledge that, after two calls. I will make a third effort tomorrow.

But think about this: when you buy a card like this, the documentation and technical support are also going to be important. Without proper documentation, you won't know what you're doing...

The documentation consists of one paper card, about 5" x 8", and it tells you what to do, but it doesn't tell you what to expect or how to grade success. For instance, it indicates you'll be prompted to load the drivers on their CD-ROM. But that's only for SOME versions of Windows (for other versions of Windows, it's supposed to load fine off the drivers on your hard drive or off your Windows discs; these details are not mentioned - - so how do you know?)

Secondly, it tells you you can check to see if it's been loaded by looking in the Device Manager in Windows Control Panel. But it doesn't tell you the NAME of the device you should be seeing. If you already have USB ports (say, 1.1. or such) you'll see multiple listings. The documentation doesn't tell you what to look for: another company's tech support (one from whom I'd bought an external hard drive) had to point out the problem to me.

And if you want to TALK to tech support to get assistance? I think you will be under-supported. I happened to speak to the same person on two different days, and she was helpful, but their hours are only 9-5 Pacific, and during lunch no one answers the phone. So, if you buy this over the weekend and have problems, forget about getting help before noon Monday (if you're in the East, like me). And if you have a day job that takes you away from your home PC and makes it difficult to call during working hours? Uh, I hope you're east of the Pacific time zone. (Here, by the way, is another example of poor documentation - - the card says what their tech support hours are, but fails to mention the time zone; conceivably you could waste a call when they're not there.)

Now, as for other issues associated with what I've bought, perhaps I do have a lemon. But I have made several efforts to install it, and with each failed attempt cleaned up something on my PC to give them the benefit of the doubt. Today I backed up files and programs, reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled Windows, to make sure everything loaded properly and efficiently. And with all said and done, I'm having the same problems I had three days ago, no improvement. The wizard found the new piece more quickly than before, but everything still froze. (Maybe it's SUPPOSED to freeze, and no one told me?)

This has been a nightmare, and I wish you better luck. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars This Was Exactly What I Wanted
Very easy to install. I had to download the updated drivers for XP, but once I did that it was recognized at once. It replaced a USB hub and a smart media drive and also let me connect my zip drive, printer and scanner to my laptop at once. When I need to take the notebook with me I can disconnect two cords and fly knowing that I can reconnect it as easily when I get back to the office. Now I can take digital pictures, view them from the integrated smart media drive, edit them and back the whole thing up to the flashmedia drive for storage.

2-0 out of 5 stars Keep looking
I bought this as a way to upgrade my laptop so that I could run my new USB2.0 external HDD. The included CD doesn't even carry the needed software to run the card it instead directs you to Orange Micro's website to download thier latest and greatest drivers. On top of that for the past 3 weeks I have used this I still run across WinXP's warning boxes telling me that I need to reinstall the software since the drivers disappear. Finally the need to attach an external AC adapter to run anything attached to the cards ports is kind of hard to take as well. In my computer I need the AC Adapter plugged in to keep the card running or else WinXP shuts the card down since it is too much of a power drain. If you are looking for a way to upgrade your computer using a PCMIA card don't look at this one. Keep looking there have to be some better ones out there.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful card for a desktop replacement notebook!
What a consolation to find a usb 2.0 pcmcia card that works so well after my disaster with the Adaptec 1420 card! (See my other review for that one if interested....)

No fuss, no difficulty in installation - simply downloaded the most recent drivers from OrangeMicro's website before buying it. Installed the drivers and then installed the card - voila! Four usb 2.0 ports!

I have a 48x24x48 Iomega external usb 2.0 burner; the card is completely backwards compatible and there is no loss of speed as far as I have been able to tell. (I am working off of XP Pro OS - no SP's installed.) And seeing as I have seven usb devices connecting to my notebook such a thing is very handy to have.

The accompanying external power supply could be a liability for those who need to travel with the card and some device or another, but I do not - mine is a desktop replacement and if I take it somewhere I unplug everything anyway before I go. So for me it is no bother.

I would highly recommend this card if you have several usb devices of both sorts (2.0 and 1.1) to your notebook if it is a desktop replacement like mine is. If you are a notebook user of the more mobile type, though, this card might not be for you.

3-0 out of 5 stars Requires external power supply
You've got to plug in the AC adapter if you're hoping to run a non-self-powered device from it. My mouse works with the built-in port in my laptop, but I get an error if I plug it into the cardbus port. I got it paritally cuz it's smaller than a hub which I currently need to run both my mouse and wacom. But since I gotta carry the AC adapter as well, I'm returning this product, will just go back to the hub, and will continue looking for a usb cardbus card that doesn't require an AC adapter for non-powered devices.

4-0 out of 5 stars Works well
The Orange USB 2.0 Hi Speed Cardbus by Orange Micro is a solid product that utilizes the USB 2.0 technology to enhance speeds on electronic devises that use USB 2.0 ports. My Iomega Predator external CD-RW would only reach speeds of 4X recording with the old USB 1.1 port, but now gets 24X or more (depending on what type of burning I'm doing). Some major advantages include having 4 USB ports, which is perfect for someone like me who needs to connect a scanner, printer, digital camera, and CD burner to my computer. Of course the biggest advantage that comes with having this product is the enhanced speed of USB 2.0 technology. Adding this new hardware to my notebook was fairly easy and should be no problem unless you do not have access to the Internet (you will need the internet to download the driver). The directions were a bit vague, but are not difficult to figure out. My only problem with this product is that it sticks out on the side of my notebook making it rather bulky. It also needs an external power source, which adds to my mess of wires. I searched around though, and could not find any USB 2.0 carbus that does not extend out of the notebook. Overall a good product that works well. Thanks again "..."! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Easy to set-up and use.
I was saving video to my hard drive and editing it 45 minutes after popping open the box on this card.

The card comes with a 6 to 4 pin Firewire cable, so no need to purchase one seperately (like I did not knowing that).

Manual is fine. Installation was easy (I have installed cards before though - not sure how easy the installation would be for someone who has never opened their computer's case before).

Software that comes with it did not work on Windows ME for me (even though the software's site says no problems are reported), but I'm using Windows Movie Maker and that's working fine for now.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy. Cheap.
Dell Dimension 8200 running Windows XP. Using a Canon ZR45. Opened the case, put in the card, closed the case, plugged in the camcorder (turned on), turned on the computer and started capturing video. Easy.

4-0 out of 5 stars good
It's good and easy to set up for windows 98 SE.
On the manual, it said that this card only connect for 63 digital devices. And on the list i can't find my digital camcorder(Sharp VLWD450U). But it still works cool and easy to transfer my video to the computer.
The software is a little bug. When i want to transfer from avi to rm, it didn't work. I think may because the software is ulead version 4.0.
Also, it includes the IEEE1394 cable, cool!

3-0 out of 5 stars It works, I guess....
I got this in hopes of turning my PC and digital camcorder into a movie studio. It was easy enough to install I suppose, and it actually works I think because some images from my camcorder DID actually make it to the monitor. However, I was never able to do more than that with this product. I don't think there is something inherently wrong with it, but PCs, at least not highly up to date ones, are just not very compatible with Firewire. I guess I could have spent more time on this and perhaps actually accomplished something. It was just too tedious and not worth it. My brothers IMAC works brilliantly with Firewire, and I would recommend you get a Mac if you want to make movies.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very affordable and easy installation
Dell Dimension 4500 running Windows XP with a Panasonic DV-400 camcorder. When I first plugged the card in, XP didn't see it. I ended up swapping to another slot and it immediately recognized the new hardware and installed it automatically. Was capturing video in under 20 minutes total! So far I have just used XP MovieMaker because the included software doesn't seem very intuitive. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad card, bad support. Don't but it.
I've got the card to connect my Ipod (Win) and so far have been unsuccessful. It turns out that the card is not 100% OHCI compliant and windows keep scrashing every time I plugin iPod to its firewire port.

I would recomend to buy a true 100% OHCI (Open Host Controller Interface) compliant card.

I'm returning this one. ... Read more
