5-0 out of 5 stars I love this printer!
I'm partial to Epson products anyway, but this is the fastest, highest-quality inkjet printer I've ever had. It's especially good for the price range.

I generally use a laser printer for my writing business, but I've purchased a few inkjet printers over the years because I need the color capability. This printer is faster than my HP LaserJet with more standard features (such as double-sided printing) and has a much cleaner text output than many other inkjets. You have to take a much closer look to know that it's not a laser printer. Using the color features and high-gloss paper, I created a complete marketing campaign for myself, and few people could tell that it wasn't professionally printed.

The C80 also seems to not eat as much ink as other models, with the added benefit of using separate ink cartridges for each color. It's also very quiet. I highly recommend it for anyone who needs a good but inexpensive inkjet printer!

4-0 out of 5 stars A great printer for the price
I've had this printer for a little over a year, and I think it's great. The speed and print quality are very good for photos and documents - just as good as the very expensive HP inkjet printer I use at work. A couple of times I've had to clean the heads because of white or off-colored bands through a printing job, but it seems like I have had to do it a lot more often with other printers.

I don't believe that this printer uses more ink than others, and I believe that I've saved money on ink because each color is a separate cartridge. If you run out of blue, you only have to replace the blue instead of wasting all of the rest of the ink. Also, I appreciate that the ink dries very quickly so it doesn't smudge - a problem I've had with other printers in this humid climate.

I do think that the "double sided printing" function is a little cheesy, since it requires you to turn the paper over. But I can't say that the function hasn't come in handy. My only real complaint is that I wish the printer were a little smaller. I have limited space, and it does seem to take up quite a bit. Otherwise, I think it's a great printer for the price!

2-0 out of 5 stars Epson C80 Printer- More trouble than its worth !!
I have 2 of these ink jet printers. When they are new they're fine. After use, the ink jet nozzles become clogged and cause nothing but printing problems. This is a common problem as witnessed by numerous customer complaints about it, and the large number and variety of nozzle cleaning kits sold. I followed the Epson Web Site to correct the problems to no avail. The final result from Epson was: "Take it to the repair shop." Local charge to unclog the printing nozzels is $ 130 because of the time it takes to clean. Instead, I bought two Brother HL-1440 Laser Printers. Installation was simple using the CD provided. The printing looks great, AND I NO LONGER MUST BE CONCERNED WITH STOPPED UP NOZZLES AND CONSTANT REPLACEMENT OF EXPENSIVE TONER CARTRIDGES !! The Brother HL-1440 prints up to 3,000 copies on a laser cartridge that takes 30 seconds to replace.

1-0 out of 5 stars Printer died right after warranty expired
I have always been very happy with Epson Printers in the past. I like the print quality and the quiet printer. The Epson C80 I bought in February 2003 died in April 2004, just after warranty expired. I replaced yellow ink cartridge, it stopped printing yellow, a few days later I replaced the black TWICE and it stopped printing black. I am not interested in buying more expensive "disposable" hardware, and will switch to another manufacturer.

1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY A C80
Hands down, the worst printer I've had. Sure, when it works great, it's wonderful. Nice clear printing, fast, blah blah blah. My Epson c80 has been the most problem-filled printer I've ever owned. Goes through ink way too fast, smears pages, has required frequent cleaning with a toothbrush and rubbing alcohol just so there aren't horizontal lines through my prints, plus it broke right after the warranty expired. However, the most annoying thing: it uses color cartridges for black printing. This means a) you cannot print in black if you are out of blue, yellow, or red, and b) you end up buying color cartridges even if you never print in color. Very poorly designed printer, I'll never buy another Epson product after my experience with the Epson C80 printer. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Terrific Scanner
I've had several scanners over the years but this is the best one yet. I found it particularly good on a wide variety of photo formats, especially negatives of all common sizes. I agree with others that the Silverfast software is difficult to master but it does pretty good job after learning its quirks. Also, you print out a multipage guide on how to use Silverfast and visit their web site for online tutorials.

4-0 out of 5 stars Scanner and software
The scanner does a good job on both transparencies and negatives using the included carriers and is a relatively affordable way to digitize those older negatives and slides. The Silverfast software included is quite difficult to use, with meager, unclear documentation. Even purchasing the Taz Tally book may not be helpful, as it too is complicated and incomplete. The Epson software included with the scanner is simpler to use and gives adequate results, especially when scanning into Photoshop.

Given the choice between the standard 3200 or the pro version with the Silverfast AI software, I would now choose the standard version. The savings can be better spent elsewhere.

1-0 out of 5 stars spotty scanning
I bought the Epson 3200 Photo scanner and had problems with spotting of images scanned in the upper right hand corner of the scanning bed. After exchanging the first unit, I had the same problem with the replacement, which I returned for a refund. I would not recommend this model scanner to anyone. Shop elsewhere.

4-0 out of 5 stars Epson 3200 and Software Review
I found the Epson 3200 to be an excellent upgrade from my Epson 1640. The Epson twain and the Smart Panel software worked without any problems and the scans are great. What would improve their software is to provide a PDF file for the User Guide instead of the HTM file. What I was disappointing in was the SilverFast software. After changing a few settings the software stopped working altogether. LaserSoft, the company that makes SilverFast, does not provide any non-chargeable phone support for installation problems. Many companies offer a 30-day free installation support but not LaserSoft. Fortunately, I found a software upgrade on the Internet but it does make one wonder about quality control. Also, I found their manuals difficult to read. It appears that they were written by engineers and embellished by product management. A good technical writer and editor could certainly improve the documentation. ... Read more

Using three 0.9-inch high-aperture LCDs and with a 400:1 contrast ratio, the projector produces brilliant colors, deep blacks, and clear text.

Amazon.com Product Description

The Epson PowerLite 71c is incredibly portable at 6.8 pounds, has a footprint of just 9.1 by 11.9 inches, and sports an affordable price tag without sacrificing quality. It comes with an impressive array of features and specs that offer ease of use and a crisp, rich image. It provides a full 1,000 lumens of brightness and a 300:1 contrast ratio. With three 0.7-inch high-aperture TFT LCDs operating at 1,024 x 768 XGA resolution, both the image detail and the 24-bit color appear with full clarity, while a digital comb filter results in greater video stability, increased contrast, and fewer digital errors. The 4:3 aspect ratio is also ideal for video presentations.

The 71c has a 160W UHE bulb that ensures bright images in most environments and has an expected life of around 1,500 hours. Brightness uniformity is typically about 88 percent, while screen size can vary depending on the distance to the projection surface (usually 1 to 11 meters), anywhere from 28 to 300 inches.

The projector is ready to use right out of the box. It supports multiple formats, including NTSC, PAL, SECAM, HDTV (480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i), RCA, and S-video, as well as USB, PS/2, and ADB mouse compatibility. The mini D-sub 15-pin video connector and RCA and mini stereo jack inputs permit quick connection to standard video cards and audio equipment. Audio plays through either the built-in monaural speaker or a connected audio system via a mini-stereo jack output.

The 71c comes with an easy-to-use remote control and has a four-button control panel as well as mouse control. It is compatible with both Mac and PC systems and comes backed with a comprehensive two-year warranty on parts and labor. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Epson Projector
After months of pricing and feature comparison's, I opted for the Epson 71c LCD projector, since it was the best priced XGA (1024x768)projector available. There are less expensive models with lower resolution (VGA), and other XGA models that go as high as $14,000.00! Factors to consider are: Lumens (brightness), resolution, video inputs (VGA/SVGA/S-Vid/HDTV), lifespan of the bulb (hours), and cost of the bulb (replacement bulb for this model on the internet is [price range]).

The most common application for projectors are business presentations, so if this is your use, the weight may be important.

I have an HDTV tuner card and a DVD player on my home PC, so connecting the Epson to my home PC turned my living room into a High Definition Theater! You can connect directly to your PC or, as I did, use a SVGA cable splitter. With the splitter, I can use the regular monitor without using the projector in order to conserve the lamp life(rated at 1500 hours).

The Epson can turn the image upside down, if you need to mount it from the ceiling. Keystone correction compensates for an angled projection by turning the trapezoidal image back into a rectangular image.

The unit has functioned flawlessly(got it in January 02). Since I have not used other projectors, I can't compare it with other units; but I have no regrets with this product. Ordering thru Amazon.com was convenient and painless, no sales tax, and free shipping! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars nice price, but not real great quality
I got this printer virtually free (minus the tax & shipping) with my noteook computer purchase. All I can say is that it's sufficient. It's extremely noisy & prints very slow, but the print quality is decent. I do like the fact it is a USB connection (personal bias). The fact that it is inexpensive is a bonus, as well. I purchased it because, until I'm rich & famous, I can't really afford a laser printer right now, as well as the fact most inkjet printers have a relatively short lifespan and it's not worth the money to repair them.

5-0 out of 5 stars User freindly and fully functional epson printer.
I bought this epson c40ux as my first printer.I wont b.s about it,I bought it because it was by far the cheapest. And there were some good reviews on it(and yes, some bad ones also)I use it with an xp program.I found that it installed practically on its own(I'm talking about a matter of mere minutes!!)It has a print wizard that makes it very user-freindly.It takes very good copies of net documents and photos.I like the quality of my digital photos. While they could be better,I am more than satisfied for the price that I paid...Would I recommend this printer as a first printer?Absolutely!!!Compare price and performance and this is a great little printer.

1-0 out of 5 stars So SLOW
This is the a horrible printer. I've had Canon and HP printers in the past and this one is the worst. The paper doesn't load right and it is ridiculously slow After less than a year, the cartridge sticks and I cannot get it to print straight.

3-0 out of 5 stars EXTREMELY SLOW PRINTER
There are other printers in this price range that produce superior results with cheaper ink and faster speed - namely the Canon S330. I was never a big bubble jet fan, but they really have improved the technology on the Canono units. My S330 prints at twice the speed of this Epson unit (for most business uses), and the ink is a bit less expensive.

I can't speak for photo quality, since that is not very important to me. Setup was easy on Windows 2000 Professional. Seems very picky about the ink level.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great printer!
I love Epson products, and I've been purchasing them since 1986.
I'm on my second Epson printer because the first one lasted so long. The first printer still works, I was just too lazy to take it to have it properly cleaned.
Sure, inkjets are slow, but I'm more concerned with quality pictures. I don't mind waiting as long as it's worth the wait.
If you can afford a laser jet go for it, but if you just want to print pictures, this one is great! I have learned that you don't need the newest model they have out, and you can save a lot of money by buying last year's model which has the same quality as that [other] model. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Performed beyond expectations.
This is not a technical opinion. I am an amateur photographer with an expesive hobby. I have spent several thousand dollars on a Nikon D100 DSLR camera, lenses, accesories, and software. I normally use a high quality photo lab for my prints because I care about the color quality. I bought the printer to use it for proof before sending it to the lab, but I was pleasantly surprised to see the quality of the Epson 960 when compared to the lab prints. Now, I am thinking of saving myself from going to the lab for my regular 8x10 or smaller prints. In a couple of words, I LOVE THIS LITTLE PRINTER!

5-0 out of 5 stars GRAPHIC & GREETING CARD DESIGNER APPLAUDS THIS ONE
As a Graphic deigner I am an Epson fan, having owned a 740i for years. After reading the reviews about the Epson Photo Stylus 960, I was hooked but cautious. When it arrived, I was leary. The machine looked menacing. I now call it " Darth Vador". There it sits on my desk performing the most fantastic meneuvers. It's also very quiet. It signals when I have goofed and lets me redo a task in mid printing. Wow! That's really neat.

It prints best in the rgb color profile. The colors are rich. Purple is better than most machines I have printed on.Yellow is bright and the Black to gray tones are just fine!. I have used it to print everything from greeting cards, announcement, mailing lables and wedding invitations for my clients to CD disk lables and Jewel Box covers, with excellent results.

In the first months of ownership majenta and yellow were hard to get but that has impproved with all color cartridges avalible from several sources .

I would recommend this printer without resevations.

1-0 out of 5 stars Epson printer
This is a printer that I would avoid. I was very disappointed in the print quality of this printer. There were vertical lines in the printout and overall print quality was poor.. I tried all of the maintenance techniques recommended, but the printout was still very poor. This seems to be a problem with many Epson printers. I returned the Epson, bought a Canon and am very pleased with the results.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best!
I have been using this printer for almost a year now, and love it! Coupled with my Canon G3 I can print out pictures that rival anything I have gotten from photo developers. While I agree that using Epson paper does seem to work the best, I have used other brands with varying sucess, especially after using color matching software to calibrate my scanner, monitor, and printer together. What I see in my camera, is what I see on the monitor, and what is printed on the printer! For the price you can get it now, you can't beat it!

3-0 out of 5 stars 1 and 5
For all intense and purposes, this printer should receive a 5, but because of Epson's BS, I can only give it a 3.
First, the high marks: Picture quality. This printer prints out the most amazingly quality photographs I've ever seen a printer print. The colors are as realistic as if one were looking at the actual subject of the print and not a photograph. Quick drying, too. Truly astounding.
Now the reason for the low score: In printing photographs, unless you use Epson paper - and only Epson paper - your pictures will look awful. Grainy, blotchy, one dimensional. Why must the user of this printer be forced to use strictly Epson paper? Why can't I use HP or Kodak high quality gloss paper and get the same fine print with those brands as I did with my previous Epson printers? It's just not right! What if, God forbid, Epson should change chemicals on their gloss paper or, worse yet, go out of business? Looks like the purchasers of the 960 will be SOL.
And why, oh why do the computer and office supply stores carry ink for every printer but the 960?
I can tell you right now that when the time comes to purchase another printer, I will think twice and do more research before getting another Epson product. ... Read more
