The 74c accepts a wide range of video input signals, including RGB, NTSC, NTSC4.43, PAL, M-PAL, N-PAL, PAL60, SECAM, and HDTV (480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i). A 1-Watt mono audio output adds to the impact of your presentation, while fan noise of around 38db won't drown out speech.

The remote provides control over a number of features, including keystone, source selection, power, page up/page down, color mode, zoom, a/v mute, and freeze. It has a 20-foot operating distance with a +/- 30 degree horizontal operating angle (+/- 15 degrees vertical). Ideal for traveling, the 74c weighs a mere 6.4 pounds and has a small 12.41-by-9.45-inch footprint. A soft carrying case is provided for ease of transportation. The 100 to 120V/200 to 240V +/- 10%, 50/60 Hz AC power supply consumes around 280 Watts during normal operation and around 3 Watts in sleep mode. The 74c is also compatible with both Mac and PC component video outputs and comes backed with a two-year limited warranty.

5-0 out of 5 stars Accurate Color, Great Paper Tray
I have used this printer for the last three years. As a visual designer and a fine artist I have used this to print all sorts of design projects, illustrations, and web pages.

The colors this produces are a better match to what I see onscreen than any other color printer I have used (HP deskjets, HP color laser, Apple color laser). Even at "normal" quality on cheap paper, the prints are good enough to frame. I used this printer with photo quality paper to print the portfolio I show at job interviews. The dithering is subtle, with none of the dark-dot-amongst-light-dots problems that cause a speckled look on cheap printers.

The colors are vibrant, but ACCURATE (unlike the HP printers that always print colors oversaturated). As other reviewers have noted, the ink cartridges (separate for each color!) last a long time, typically several months with heavy usage.

The printing is fast, even at high quality, much faster than color laser printers, and comparable to most desktop printers.

The flat paper tray (as opposed to inclined) rarely jams. The tray can hold about 50 sheets of paper, so it is good for use in an office environment being shared by many people.

This can handle even light card stock, although I have had some varieties of 80# card stock JAM and refuse to go through. Unfortunately, the stock is forced to go through the rollers, and there is no way to open the back to allow it to go straight through and avoid jamming on heavy stock. This is the only bad thing about this printer.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't let anyone give you one for free
This is quite possibly the worst printer ever made in all printer history. The color is horrible, it jams the paper every other print, slow as mollasses, impossible to service, and just generally looks bad. The roller-arms are spaced so that they never take its own specially priced paper straight into the feeder. Ink Cleanings usually last for two prints on most minimal print settings, then degrade into splotchy lined garbage. Makes the most horrible noises when printing and death rattles when jammed or confused. Don't let anyone give you one even for free. and for heavan's sake, don't actually spend money on one. I have two, one for parts, and the other for parts backup, as both are equally on their way to a trash heap in South America where orphan childern can beat the living daylights from its horrible plastic casing. If negative stars were available for review, this product would deserve them.

1-0 out of 5 stars 2 words: Garbage
2 words: Feeder Failure.
May take 10 or more tries to get the very expensive paper to feed correctly. Then, it might just decide that it doesn't want to print any more and eject halfway. MANY wasted sheets!

2 words: Broken Brain
The software for this thing is awful.
The MAC RIP software is, without a doubt, the worst software ever unleashed on the public. Can't even begin to explain, it just doesn't work and crashes constantly.

2 words: No Support.
Where are the fixes???

2 words: Don't Buy!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Hillbilly Photographer
I have owned and used my Epson 3000 printer for nearly two years now with great results. At the time of purchase, it was the only printer available in its size range, which was its selling point for me. After recently converting it over to archival pigmented inks (Generations ProPhoto Inks from mediastreet.com) and creating a custom profile for the new inks, I can honestly say that I get better color from this printer than from my Epson 2000P. I do use the 3000 with an old PC with Windows 98 since there isn't a suitable driver for Windows XP. For those having trouble getting paper to feed in correctly, try feeding it in from the back. This works especially well with glossy photo paper, which does tend to misfeed from the front. This printer is regularly used to make 16x24 inch display prints originating from a Canon EOS-1Ds, and the results are amazing with vibrant, realistic colors and sharp detail. The only real problem I've ever had is occasional very slight banding, but this really isn't noticeable 95% of the time. Hopefully the new Epson 4000 will do an even better job, but the drawback there will be having to buy seven or even eight colors of ink instead of the four used by the 3000.

3-0 out of 5 stars Printer won't work with Windows XP!
As a graphics designer this has been a good printer for me. It makes beautiful prints. The only drawback is that Epson has not decided to join the rest of us in the 21st Century. If you would like an expensive nice desktop printer, this is the one for you. However, if you do graphic design and require a StylusRIP Adobe Level 2 Postscript Driver...here's a newsflash...This printer is NOT XP compatible. In fact it's not Windows ME, or Windows 2000 compatible. There are no postscript drivers for anything higher than Windows 95/98. After several days of trying to speak to a human at Epson's Tech Support, I finally spoke to someone, and gleaned that they are in no hurry to advance with the times. At some point in the future they plan to develop an XP compatible StylusRIP driver. After a great expense and effort, I upgraded my office system and software to Windows XP. Because I had to have a RIP, I was forced to revert everything back to Windows 98. My bad! I should have checked, but I assumed that a company as large as Epson would be as progressive as the rest of us. All in all, I still like this printer. I am hoping that they will get on the ball soon. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Professional Photographer
I find this printer to be an excellent well made printer. The perfect printer would be one that could print excellent color and Grey Scale.
I have read the previous reviews about lack of drivers for the Mac's and I do not believe that this is true. The printer came packaged with drivers for PC and Mac. Upgraded drivers for both systems are available at Epson's web site. The only draw back that I see about the printer is that there is no light black ink tank, for really good continuous tone grey scale images. So people that do Grey Scale Photography would not come out with gallery results. Color printing is excellent as long as you use custom profiles out of Photoshop.

4-0 out of 5 stars OS X drivers
I don't know when the other review was posted but the OS X drivers have been available since 2003. Mine works fine, but a RIP works better.

1-0 out of 5 stars No OSX Drivers
Great printer, fantastic quality but STILL no OSX drivers. I've spoken to Epson for over a year about this, and they still have no commitment to when they'll get it done. Very dissapointing. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars 5+++ stars
I purchased this paper because it was the cheapest brand out there- and printing your own photos is an expensive hobby. I had intended to use Epson papers for trial runs or copies for friends. However, the quality of my photos was incredible using epson paper. The colors are much more vivid and they don't fade over time as some photo papers do. I now use Epson paper for all my 4x6 photos and I save money!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Paper for Epson Photo Printers
Not only is this photo paper the most inexpensive paper I have used, but it is simply the best. The printed photos have a glossy finish that makes them indistinguishable from the regular film prints. I have used Kodak and HP premium papers and they don't hold a candle to the Epson brand. I have also used the older Epson paper and a no-name brand and neither were as bright and brilliant as this paper. I am using an Epson Stylus Photo RX500 and the prints are fabulous. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I also recommend this paper
I also have used this paper for making family calendars this Christmas and found the quality excellent. It is not easy to find in stores.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good deal for the price
I wanted to create calendars for our family. I found this a good deal for the printer (I have Lexmark Z54) and for the requirement. I had taken 5 calendars out of this and it works good for the double-side calendar. I could get an excellent finish. Color rendering is perfect and I did not find any smudging or bloating. The thickness is fine enough for a double-sided output.

I also found Matte finish better than Glossy in case of inkjet printers, especially this one, the best.

I would definitely recommend this product. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars FINE ART PAPER
Anyone thinking about using an inkjet printer for photography must try this paper. I do fine art photography and my own darkroom work in medium format. I just purchased the Epson 1270 printer and have been using this heavy weight paper with eye opening results. This paper is pure white and used with the new inks in the 870 and 1270 printers has a fade resistant life of over 26 years. This paper has the look of a fine art Ilford or Kodak N surface...And best of all ..the price is hard to beat !

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Paper, Great for Giving
I primarily use my printer to make prints of my digital pics. I cannot stress enough how much better they look on this paper. They look so good that most people don't believe that they came from my digital camera and home printer.

High qulaity paper makes all the difference in the world when it comes to inkjet printing. I've tried quite a few different brands of paper, and I have fallen in love with the epson line. The pictures turn out sharp, rich and clear.

The only downside of the paper is that it does turn colors with time :-(. Epson says that if you keep them in an airtight package, say behind glass, they won't turn as quickly. Mine did in about a two years, but they were simply held in a stack, and not behind glass or in a sheet protector.

All that being said, it is good paper and my machines prints well on it. They make great prints for giving to others who want 'copies' of your pictures.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Great Photo Paper
As a professional photographer, I've tested many different types of paper and Epson's Premium Line is by far the best. Everyone who sees the results (printed on the Epson 870/1270) can't believe it. The look and feel is the same as a photograph. The only way you'd know it was printed on an inkjet is by looking at the back to see the 'Epson' watermark.

Epson also produces the Premium Luster (an "E" surface or matte paper) and Premium Semi-Gloss Papers. They are all great papers, but the Premium Glossy affords the most contrast (which is to be expected from a glossy paper).

To lenghten this paper's longevity we reccomend displaying behind glass or keeping the prints in sheet protectors where the print doesn't have contact with the air. Under those conditions it will last a long time without a noticeable change--probably years, if not longer, according to Epson

5-0 out of 5 stars Best for presentation/graphic printout
Epson makes great printer papers. I use Epson's matte paper almost as much as the regular inkjet paper. This paper is made for color presentation and graphic. I print out my portfolio and sample work with matte paper because it is relatively cheap to the high quality printout. I use the Epson 820 and the color print matches the monitor colors (98%) almost perfect.

For photo prints it is fine, but photos are simultaneous with glossy texture. If you like glossy photo then this is not the photo paper you would get. The colors do not jump at you nor have sharp deferential qualities that glossy can produce. Printing plain texts without color might be too wasteful (costly) for matte paper. I considered Epson the best in paper qualities over Canon, HP, Kodak and others for the quality/price. I have switched to the Canon i960 and am still using Epson's paper. It is that versatile. I tend to use the harder to find Epson double-side matte paper.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just like a real photograph
I use this paper with an Epson Photo 960 using the "Premium glossy Photo Paper" option. It prints photos as nice as any Ive seen printed. These are great looking photos. Now if they could do something about the price. ... Read more
