The Emerson NV-5000 is a versatile in-car navigation system featuring accurate and detailed street maps of the United States. Powered by the Windows CE operating system, the NV-5000 uses navigation software from Pharos, a company that also provides software for a host of other mobile GPS devices.

After downloading maps to the unit from your computer via a USB connection, you can use the NV-5000's intuitive controls to get door to door directions. Navigation is made easy with a full-color touch screen and continuous GPS tracking to update your current position. Simple, affordable, and sounds great !
If you're looking for a nice, compact, retro, simplistic 'throwback' table radio - this is the one. Perfect for a kitchen or bedroom - simple enough for mom to use and enjoy. The sound- while not Bose quality - is very clean and crisp. FM sensitivity for a tabletop is excellent. Add in the AUX input and headphone input - and they have a WINNER. The only drawback is the AM sensitivity - which isn't nearly as good as the FM. Buy one ! ... Read more

If you are looking for a dependable cd player you can use in the shower, keep searching! After just one use of this product, water leaked into the battery compartment, and it exploded in my shower leaving black powder everywhere. It wasn't just an accident either, the battery compartment was closed and screwed in securely, it was purely a defective piece of machinery. audiophile
This radio is by far the best sounding table radio I have ever heard. It rivals the sound of similar radios that cost $80.00 more! The bass response is superb, the highs are crystal clear, and it has good station pulling ability on FM. The stereo separation it very good, and it has plenty of volume. The controls are simple to use, and I must say, that I recommend this radio for space-limited areas. I have an ear for good sounding and mediocre sounding radios, and this one sounds great!

Great Radio For Office
I was looking for a radio for my office, and I went to the local Target and found this radio. I liked the retro look (it reminded me of the radios my grandfather had on his table)! I took it to the office and everyone was commenting how cool it looked. The sound quality is good and for the price you can't beat it.

Very Disappointed
I cannot imagine the radio to which the other reviewers refer. I actually bought two of these things - one NR31 and one NR30 (for some reason, the mono version is 10 dollars more expensive). The FM reception on both models is identical - mediocre, at absolute best. I have much less expensive radios, including portables, that deliver a much cleaner signal. Crosstalk at the low end of the FM band is especially noticeable and, unfortunately, that is where the stations reside to which I listen (NPR, etc.). The AM reception is essentially non-existant and the radio emits a very strange sound of its own when tuned to the AM band. Also, while the radios will accept an auxillary input, such as a CD player, there is no switch to select the AUX input. If you plug something into the AUX input, it becomes active and overrides the tuner. Not handy at all if you intend to use the radio in lieu of computer speakers, obviously. It is true that these things superficially resemble the Tivoli table radios and feel fairly solid. Any similarity to the Tivoli (or the Sangean, for that matter) disappears when turned on. I am extremely sorry that I followed the advice of the other reviewers and did not spring for the higher-priced Tivoli.

This is the best table radio deal bar none!
I am a radio nut. I currently own a Tivoli PAL and a Sangean "Q Radio", among others. I enjoy the quality sound both radios produce and was looking into getting either a Tivoli Model 1 or 2 or even the new Sangean WR model when I found the Emerson NR31 on the Target web site the other day. I have to say that the styling and the price intrigued me so I investigated the Emerson further. The reviews I read told the true story. I purchased an NR31 yesterday and was so pleased with it that I purchased another one today for a family member. The sound is incredible for such a low price. Like the other reviewers said, there is no reason to spend more $ for the higher end radios when you can't tell the difference. I am sure the Emerson NR31 will be appearing under many trees this holiday season. My advise is to get one today, you will enjoy this radio for sure!

Emerson does it again!
Hey, I bought this for my office yesterday, because I wanted an FM radio now that Austin has a FM talk station (for the time being) but I wanted it to have a nice smooth look. I found this at the Target down the road and hooked it up. The sound is really great and it works well with my XM home kit and MP3 player using the AUX IN line. My first real stereo as a teen was an Emerson and I've always been very pleased with their products over the years (about 22 or 23 years), so much so that I've never felt the need to go for the more expensive brands. ... Well, I just bought this today, and I loved it ever since I've had it. Blue lighting, auto dimmer, so many options. This was the cheapest I found with the standards I had (digital tuning, CD player, etc.) The remote is very useful, but too bad they don't save the radio stations (have to tune every time). But they do save the order of how you want your tracks to be played on your CD. The motorized door is such a special thing. The themal snooze is also sweet, so you don't have to find the snooze button to keep on sleeping. I did find it hard to use set the minutes and hours for the alarm and clock (hit one accidentally). But, the light on the side of the glass makes up for all of that (it looks so cool...)
