4-0 out of 5 stars Great for sticking to paper
This is the tape to get if you are labeling paper or cardboard items, like manila file folders, shoeboxes, or suchlike.

It does NOT stick well to plastic or glass, but will start to lift & curl after a few days (depending on humidity, I suppose.) Don't use it if you are labelling VHS cassettes or those little glass spice jars -- you need the plastic tape for those projects.

I keep both kinds of labelling tape in the house, because it's so easy to pop the cartridge in & out -- there's no wasted tape. Get some of each!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best labels!!
This white paper label makes the best labels I've ever seen, Quick and easy. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

When you just need to print a label or two at a time, it's a huge pain to find an uncrumpled sheet, format the labels, and then remember which way to load the sheet into your printer. But you want your work to look professional--especially if you're running a small business or working out of your home. Now there's a solution. Small and compact, the Dymo LabelWriter Turbo plugs into your computer and sits right on your desktop. It's a direct thermal printer, so there's no messy ink or toner cartridges.

Setting up the LabelWriter Turbo is easy: Connect the Dymo LabelWriter Turbo using the appropriate enclosed power cord--two are included, a plug-and-play adapter for USB ports and a serial port connector--and turn on the LabelWriter and then your computer. Using the enclosed shipping-size labels, load them onto the plastic spool, then close the top. Press the feed button on the front of the LabelWriter to advance the labels after you print them. Included is a CD-ROM with the software you'll need to format your labels. Just insert the CD-ROM into your drive and follow the instructions.

Depending on the size of your label and how simple or fancy you want to get, choose an appropriate template. There are choices for plain return address labels, file folders, computer disks, or shipping labels with a graphic, or you can even import your own logo. Fonts and sizes are up to you. Like an e-mail program, you can create address lists for people or groups that you often contact and print a label with a quick mouse click. And with the enclosed software, you can import addresses from Microsoft Outlook. You can even add postal bar codes if you like and access and print Internet postage.--Dana Van Nest ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The absolute best product to buy
I've had my Turbo since September 99 (it's now Jan 2000) and it has already enabled me to double my (small) business, and I expect it to triple again within the next 2 months. What else can I say? Could not have done without it.

5-0 out of 5 stars The perfect solution for printing contact addresses.
I've used this product for over a year now and wouldn't trade it for the world. I print all of my business contacts in batches and from MS Word. It saves me countless hours over the course of a year! I love it. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Are you sick to death of changing the paper in your printer every time you want to print labels? Don't you hate wasting the few labels left on the last sheet when you're done? Your solution comes in a fairly small package--the Dymo LabelWriter EL 60 is a wee sprite that takes care of your labeling needs quickly and quietly. This 5.5-by-5.5-by-7.25-inch unit looks like a medium-sized Rolodex and can handle a large variety of Dymo labels--use them for addresses, file folder labels, postage, or whatever needs you might dream up along the way.

The drivers are easy to install and work with lots of popular programs, such as Word, Outlook, and GoldMine. If you're running Windows, you can network the EL 60 so all hands can route their labels to the same small box. Thermal printing saves ink and toner charges at the cost of a little speed--but that efficiency can be made up from eliminating paper-tray switches in your main printer and using the EL 60 to automatically print ZIP+4 and POSTNET postal bar codes on each label. If you do enough mailing to find the process frustrating, do yourself a favor and pick up a Dymo LabelWriter EL 60.

Pros:

  • Prints labels quickly and easily
  • Thermal printing
  • Many label sizes and styles available

Cons:

  • Limited choice of label brands

Amazon.com Product Description

The DYMO LabelMANAGER 100 (LM100) is a marvel of versatility, letting you create labels in six type sizes, three styles (normal, italic, and outline), three variations (boxed, shaded, and underlined), and three formats (single line, double line, and vertical). Throw in two label widths and numerous color combinations, and the possibilities are impressive indeed.

The familiar QWERTY keyboard provides access to 174 characters and symbols, and the 8.5-character display previews labels prior to printing. You can specify a label's total length or the length of just the text; when you specify the total length, the machine sizes and centers the text automatically. Reviewing previous work is simple, as the machine remembers the last label and recalls it for your viewing. Bulk labeling is also a snap; the LM100 prints up to 99 copies at a time.

The LM900 is easy to use, though a complete grasp of its many features requires a thoughtful review of the accompanying instruction manual. Should you run into difficulties, DYMO's Web address and a telephone hotline are listed on the packaging. Replacement label tape comes in a handy cassette, and the body of the machine provides a convenient window through which you can quickly identify the tape's size and color. The LM100 accepts both 0.375-inch and 0.5-inch tape widths. Two dozen tape varieties are available for order. A sample cassette comes with the machine.

Measuring just 6.5 by 4.75 by 2 inches, the LM100 provides both a compact desktop solution and a portable, handheld solution to labeling needs at home, in the shop, or at the office. The LM100 requires six AA batteries (included in DYMO's original packaging) and is backed by a limited one-year warranty. --Luis Uzueta ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars I used it to organize the office shipping area
This is a pretty decent labeler. The machine was actually intuitive enough to use without the instruction book -- but I found I needed the guide to figure out how to change the size and style of the typefaces, and how to clear the display all at once, rather than letter by letter. (It doesn't automatically clear the entries after they print.) There are a lot of nice features, such as special foreign-language characters, vertical printing, two-line printing, and automatic centering. I was just a little bit disappointed in the quality of the printouts. If you look closely, you can see that they are slightly "bitmapped," or jaggedy around the edges, like an old dot-matrix printer. I was expecting more of a laser-printer quality. Still, it's a good unit for labeling shelves in our shipping area, which is why I bought it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars great labels
This LabelWriter has been wonderful. Our office uses it to create labels for patients' charts, letters, and barcoding. We have also used it for creating labels for 3.25" floppy disks. As a matter of fact, we use it so much that we purchased a second one so that we would have one in the front and back offices. It is also capable of printing a variety of label types, but I can't speak to that. I do, however, highly recommend it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Love it!
I'm surprised by the negative reviews for the DYMO LabelMANAGER 300 & 200. I own the 200 for the office & am buying the 300 for use at home. PLEASE NOTE: If you like labeling (I've become addicted), there is a HUGE difference between Dymo & Brother - the ease of exposing the "sticky" side of the tape. Dymo tapes all have a split down the middle of the back which makes using them a BREEZE!!!! This is VERY IMPORTANT!! So important I can't believe it hasn't been mentioned. I even gave my Brother Touchpoint away because of this, my secretary & I found it too cumbersome to remove the label backing and I was tempted to throw it away rather than subject someone else to this lack of design.

The font selections are very easy and intuitive with these models, I'm surprised that others found them difficult. Also, a big bonus is the keyboard. They are large & very easy to use. With this purchase I'll own 3 labellers, all by DYMO, believe me, you can't beat their label tape design.

2-0 out of 5 stars Too Complicated for it's own good!
We purchased this labelmaker for work and I can tell you that we wish we hadn't. After 2 months of everyone in the office complaining, we finally broke down and bought a Brother P-Touch PT-310 for about 50.00 and everyone is happy again. The Dymo labelmaker is very complicated when it comes to resizing your text. You have to push this button and this one... and so forth and when you are done it jumps back to your original size. Perhaps it is our fault for not reading the manual over and over. In this day and age, you wouldn't expect to have to do that. Another bad feature is its weight and shape. Take a good look at it in the picture. The part you open and view your typed text is HUGE! The bottom keyboard is very thin and light. The labelmaker almost wants to topple over because of its upper weight. I'm being honest when I say to check out the Brother P-Touch instead. I'm not a big reviewer but I had to warn the consumer about this one. ... Read more
