Wonderful Idea!!!!! Wonderful Item!

time/date/number stamping
I like all the features about this neat little stamper.I ocassionaly have a numbering job that is 200 - 300 pages or more.A hand stamper was too tough on my hand and arm.And the placement of the numbers was a problem.This stamper makes a very nice, neat stamp with a good variety of options.

Great Idea, Major Drawbacks
I have to say that this product represents a breakthrough in electronics. It can be used to document incoming mail, outgoing items, when you mailed bills, anything you need to automatically tell when an event occured. The problems, however, are serious enough to limit my use of the product, which I've had over a year.

For example, the printing size is way too small and there isn't anyway to change it. The next problem is that the unit has a small 'button' on bottom that, when compressed, starts the stamping. But if you put the unit on something without propping it, it will stamp inadvertantly. The engineers should have had a stamping thumb button for better control. Another problem is that you can't create your own descriptions.

On the other hand the features available are good. There is an automatic counter which you can set to print either 4 or 6 digits. If you need consective documents numbered, this is a good feature. The only problem, then, is the small print. And the unit makes a decent desktop clock when not being used as a stamper. All in all, I would recommend the unit until someone comes out with something better that would address the problems I've laid out. ... Read more

Remember those handheld plastic labelmakers we all had as kids? You'd spin the wheel around and then clamp down when you got to the right letter (and you had to clamp hard to make a mark on that heavy-duty plastic strip). After you got your name out or made a message such as "This is mine keep your hands off," you'd discover you spelled "keep" as "kep" and had to start over. Plus, the tape would invariably buckle and fall off wherever you stuck it.

Now labelmakers have joined the information age. The LetraTag 2000 labelmaker is akin to a handheld word processor, and boy, is it fun to use. There are so many cool little features that you really do need to read the instructions to take full advantage of it. To get started, you just flip up the top of the labelmaker and insert the cartridge. This model comes with 13 feet of standard white tape, but you can purchase extra paper, plastic, or metallic labels in seven different colors. The LetraTag requires six AA batteries, which are not included. Once those are in, you can press the red power button and get started.

The LetraTag defaults to normal text and lowercase letters, but with a little inputting you can create capitals, bold, big bold, italic, outlined, shadowed, or vertical text. It also has a box/underline feature that will surround your text with underlines or rounded, shaded, toothed, or pointed boxes, plus our favorite, the crocodile box (the croc grins at you!). If your labeling area is tight, you can use the two-line feature to double up the text so it prints two lines instead of one. It also provides a host of international letters and accent marks in addition to a range of symbols including a telephone, smiley face, heart, and cat.

As you input your label, what you've typed scrolls across the LCD screen (up to 72 characters). To go back and change your message, just use the arrow keys. When you're ready to print, you can press "shift-print preview" to see your label. Once the label is printed, just press the scissors key and the label will pop off. Handily, the last label made will automatically be retained in memory in case you turn the LetraTag off by accident.

Newer Not Necessarily Better
I have had the electronic Dymo Letratag Label Maker for several months but I find myself still reaching for my old manual type Dymo label makers.

While the Letratag does have a lot of features and offers a much broader character and symbol set, in a variety of different fonts and styles, I find this to be overkill when I just want to make a quick label.

Furthermore, the cost of the Letratag labels is exorbitant compared to the old type Dymo plastic labels. I can buy 3-4 rolls of the old type Dymo plastic labels, with a lot more footage, for the same price as one roll of Letratag. I also find that printing only in black is a limitation. There are times when the white lettering (as found in the old type labels) is more suitable in certain lighting conditions. Currently, the Letratag label is limited to a ½" width, whereas, the older type Dymo plastic labels come in 3/8" and ¼" widths. The ¼ inch is especially handy when labeling small part draws or the side of a plastic CD case. I have noticed that the "Metallic" silver Letratag tape develops a slight but permanent curl on the cut edges after is applied (a small annoyance - considering the old type plastic labels tend to curl and pull away where the temperature fluctuates greatly - like my garage). Finally, the cost of the batteries is of concern and there is no jack to provide AC power to the Letratag.

Where the Letratag excels is when you need a lot of the same labels - you can spit them out one after another.

Summary: The Letratag cannot replace my other older (manual) Dymo label makers; rather it used along side them for those infrequent occasions when my manual label makers can't provide a desired symbol or style, or when I need to make multiple copies of the same label.

Fun with labels
Four and a half stars, really. The Dymo LetraTag is fun and easy to use! It does a few different fonts, vertical strips, two-line labels, and symbols. You'll actually want to go through and organize your filing cabinet. The only thing I don't like is the cheapo paper label tape -- OK for sticking to paper items (like file folders) but it doesn't work well on plastic (like VHS cassettes.) Splurge and get the more expensive plastic tape if you want a little more versatility.

Great Product
This is labeling the way it should be. Nice price on a quality product. Not like the old labelmakers that made impressions on plastic tape, this product can print on a variety of tape (available separately) - paper, plastic or metalic. The keyboard is a little clumsy, but for under [money] I can live with it. I use it for all kinds of labels.

Great teacher tool!
I am a music teacher who has thousands of resources. Some of these resources are lent to students and colleagues. The Dymo LetraTag is a great way of labeling my stuff to make sure that it gets returned to me!! The labels that this machine uses adhere better than the labels from my Casio labeler or my wife's Brother labeler. The batteries last much longer with this machine as well. An investment that is well worth the price.

Good multi-purpose label machine
I use my machine to label shelves, leftovers, boxes and anything I lend/leave out that I want returned. I've only used the plastic labels and they stick wonderfully. If you buy one, be sure to order some plain plastic labels - my unit came with one roll of happy face background tape, which is very distracting for everyday use. I only wish there were an easier way to select the special characters - I have to keep the instructions handy to locate the special codes to print symbols. ... Read more

Labels for the cutest Label Printer
If you want to print labels from your Word program, the Dymo LabelWriter makes it about as easy as highlighting the address and hitting print.

I use a Dymo almost daily and it is a real time saver. These labels are easy to replace and work like a charm.

The roll is easy to insert into the Dymo printer. It takes
a few seconds and the labels load instantly.

There are many sizes you can use, but these seem to be the most useful size for making address labels for mailing out packages and letters.

Great Product, Watch Out For the High Shipping Cost
I use a Dymo LabelWriter 300, which is fabulous, and these labels are fabulous. But be careful when ordering, as these products come from Office Depot who will gouge you with exhorbitant shipping costs - sometimes more than the labels themselves.

Whoopee! look Ma, labels!
Pray hard for an aftermarket source of these highly overprices rolls...until then grit your teeth and pay the price that seems to be fixed across the board no matter where you buy these. We use thousands of these labels for mailings so the cost is getting to be a pain.

Labels not for Seiko Printer.
These labels were advertised with the Seiko Label Printer. They did not work with the printer because the printer requires thermal labels. I sent these labels back to Amazon and they promptly refunded my money. ... Read more

Label of the Century
What can you say about a label with this much personality? Tenacious, stick-to-it attitude. It will occasionally blank out, but that's usually my fault for hitting the feed button. The roll is really round, the labels so fresh and white, like little white tongues, lapping up their place in the shipping world. Here and there one will jump out of line, and I have to gently but firmly put it in it's place. If you need labels, this is the brand to stick with!
