An honest EBAY Power Seller Review
First off this is a great little printer that will increase your selling volume and make the filling of orders fun. It is quite quiet and (not laser printer quiet) but less than I thought once used. I have small children sleeping and I do my auctions at night.

I use Windows XP and had no problems installing it the first time. The best thing about this is is comes with all the software required to design the labels. The fields I use are address, return address, small product field and an auto sequence on the label. I had this up and running with no problems in 20 minutes, that means alot.

I usually process my payments and print out as I go, once I'm ready to ship I take the all the labels and fill the orders. It has really saved me time. I did look at zebra, but looked to complex and unsure if software was included. Labels are alot less expensive for the Zebra/eltron printers (.05 - .07 cents each for the shipping 2x4" for the DUMO) but the time save and real time processing is great from hand writting labels. I just cut and paste from PAYPAL Payment email and within 2 clicks I have a label.

I sell about 20-30 things a week and use this solely for that purpose. I have even thought about making some "Thank You" stickers or "Please Leave Positive Feedback" labels when I get some free time.

If you search hard you can get the Dymo 330 turbo for a few dollars more than the 330 listed hear at Amazon. I am not sure if it is faster or a marketing gimic as I have not used the regular 330. Oh well what is another $30. At the time of writing this area of Amazon does not price match. Look around.

I highly recomend this printer, for any ebay sellers and if you can use it in other areas of you life....BONUS.

A superb office tool
This specialized label printer is simple to set up, easy to use, and takes up very little space on the desk - highly recommended.

A few cautionary notes:
1. when printing from Outlook the program only recognizes business addresses
2. the thermal printing labels you must use with this printer aren't exactly cheap
3. the template provided for use in Word reinstalls itself by modifying the default document template each time you open Word, which is annoying if you have Word set to notify you before saving the default template.

Otherwise I am completely satisfied with this printer and expect to use it for many years.

Great little machine
I just received mine the other day; it is great. It takes a little getting used to, but you shouldn't have a problem if you have a good working knowledge of computer equipment.

I use Stamps.com, and it integrated beautifully with that service. It was a little tricky getting it to work with ACT! 6.0 2004. You do need to change some settings, and make sure you get every character (including the necessary spaces) correct. Once it is done, you will have a icon and can print right off ACT!. That is good because you can log your history of what you mailed. I called the technical support line, and they walked me right through it. The customer/technical support on Dymo's website is very helpful too.

As a small business owner, I need to control my costs. The supplies for this printer are not cheap, the time savings and professional results justify it. Like the previous reviewer, I recommend that you shop around. I ordered mine from Office Max (a client sent me a giftcard); it was $189 with free shipping.

High price at Amazon
The product is excellent. However the price at Amazon is questionable. Try to go to www.dymo.com, then you will see the street price is now $199, but Amazon's suggested price is $221.99. Let's go to other shopping sites to purchace it. Check out the latst price at shopper.cnet.com. ;-)

Dymo also prints on plain thermal roll!
Finally a low cost small format thermal printer on the market. But wait, none of the marketing material mentions plain thermal paper. There's plenty about the dozens of very expensive label stock sizes you can use, but... AND calls to the support centres in New Zealand and Australia produced the glibbest cop outs I ever heard. Basically Dymo will not state whether or not their little printer will even feed anything but their labels.
So, took a risk and bought the little sucker. Lo and behold, it will happily print on a plain roll - BUT it always feeds 142mm, irrespective of the 'page' size you set up. (The label stock has hole punches that stop the feed at the end of a label.)
AND you will need to make up a little spool that fits through the core of a plain paper roll, a felt pen shaft, and a couple of carefully cut cardboard disks will do it.
Of course this voids the warranty, but when pressed the Dymo help desk said they had not had any machines returned due to problems caused by the use of plain paper.
Of course if you DO want to use labels, you'll need that special Dymo stock with the holes that costs around 10 times the price of plain paper.
Dymo - why are you so coy? More people will buy your printers if they can use them for more than just labels - and who really cares about a fixed page size? ... Read more

New Mac OS X software works well
This is a revision of the review below. Dymo is now shipping a revised application and drivers for OS X, and they are _much_ better than the old application. The software stopped working when I upgraded to Panther, but then another revision took care of that a few weeks later. My only remaining complaint is that Dymo is not good about communicating to users about what software is available and forthcoming (their web site is really a disaster), but the device itself and current software is quite nice.

I loved my old costar labelwriter (used with serial connection on a mac running OS 9) and bought the newer dymo labelwriter 330 in addition to go with a newer Mac with USB connection. At first the software was just klunky with OS X, running in classic mode only, and frequently working only after reboot. Then, when I upgraded to OS X 10.2.3, the labelwriter stopped working entirely. The drivers for third-party applications under OS X also don't seem to work at all (I can eject a blank label, but that's it). Dymo has been promising new OS X software for months, but meanwhile I've got a boat anchor.

I really want to like this gadget ... I had grown to depend on it ... but Mac users should not buy it unless and until there is a good, native OS X application for label printing.

My most-used printer at home
I have a Dymo printer and you'd think that one would use it less than say, a regular inkjet, but no. I use this most of all. The Dymo takes several sizes of thermal label rolls, from large shipping labels, to name tags, to thinner file folder tabs or general purpose labels. The software allows you to input the brand of label, the format, and set up your own shipping label or return address, or whatever. You can even add graphics. The software, which gets updated from time to time on the Dymo website, handles input from database software so you can print out many addresses. You can save frequently-used labels (addresses for bills, friends.) If you do a lot of shipping or mailing, this is a very useful thing to own, and I really love mine. It works flawlessly.

Mac OSX 10.3.4: Pretty good, could be better
I am generally pleased with my Dymo Labelwriter. It worked out of the box over USB with my Powermac G5 running Mac OSX 10.3.4. Labels come out sharp and clear. It's a quick printer as well.

The included label making software is only adequate. It's not very easy to make several labels at once, for instance. The software integrates with the Mac Address Book, but it could be a whole lot more seamless. The GUI is a little clunky and certainly not polished looking; a feature that isn't acceptable in the well-polished, not-so-clunky Mac environment.

Overall, however, I am pleased with the product's performance. The labels look great, print quickly, and the software can only get better with time.

A fabulous tool...made itself indispensable to me immediately. Software works beautifully with my Mac. Had a problem with it powering up, but that was speedily resolved by Dymo's technical support. Great value on a super product!

Being a dual platform office, I use the 330 on both a G4 with OS X and a PC using XP Professional and the Dymo works great. My office prints between 25-35 shipping labels daily and the Dymo has been a true workhorse for the past few months. Can't imagine an office NOT having one! ... Read more

Remember those handheld plastic label makers we all had as kids? You'd spin the wheel around and then clamp down when you got to the right letter (and you had to clamp hard to make a mark on that heavy-duty plastic strip). After you got your name out or made a message like "This is mine keep your hands off," you'd discover you spelled "keep" as "kep" and had to start over. Plus, the tape would invariably buckle and fall off wherever you stuck it.

Now label makers have joined the information age. The LetraTag 2000 labelmaker is akin to a handheld word processor, and boy, is it fun to use. There are so many cool little features that you really do need to read the instructions to take full advantage of it. To get started, you just flip up the top of the labelmaker and insert the cartridge. This model comes with 13 feet of standard white tape, but you can purchase extra paper, plastic, or metallic labels in seven different colors. The LetraTag requires six AA batteries, which are not included. Once those are in, you can press the red power button and get started.

The LetraTag defaults to normal text and lowercase letters, but with a little inputting you can create capitals, bold, big bold, italic, outlined, shadowed, or vertical text. It also has a box/underline feature that will surround your text with underlines or rounded, shaded, toothed, or pointed boxes, plus our favorite, the crocodile box (the croc grins at you!). Wonderful
This is a great product. The cartridges have a little window to see how much label is left. Very handy. The cartridges are also very easy to change. The graphics and borders are nice too. Very good value, highly recommended.

I love this labeler
I like the paper labels to label paper and cardboard items and the plastic labels to label hard-surfaced items. They stay on well. Yet they are easy to peel off, especially the plastic ones.

The tape is self-threading. To change tapes, just open the hinged cover, pull out one cartridge, and pop in another. I keep a spare cartridge of each type handy.

The device leaves an automatic margin on each end of the text. If it is more margin than you want, it is easy to shorten the ends with scissors.

It is very easy to peel the backing off the tape because it is precut lengthwise. Peel off one half from the center and then peel off the other half.

The labels, even the metallic ones, cannot survive a hot flame. (Don't even ask.)

The manual is short, and definitely worth reading.

The product is much more than I bargained for. I highly recommend it.

Excellent! Just what I was looking for!
I bought this product and I am very pleased with it. I was using it within minutes. I'm was also pleasantly surprised to find out that you can buy cartridges that are weatherproof for outdoors as well as printed holiday papers. The crocodile box is particularly cute for labeling kid's things.

Very poor quality. Cheeze plastic. Cover over tape dispenser wouldn't close. Couldn't make the product print anything, after inserting 6 new AA batteries as directed. Wasted about 10 inches of tape trying to thread the tape through area in label maker to make it print. NO LUCK! Very displeased with this product. Have owned Dymo label makers in the past and never had a problem. Maybe I'm getting too old for gadgets! :-( ... Read more

Great label maker for a great price
I bought the QX50 to help me get my files more clearly organized, and things like CD cases more neatly labeled. The print size is variable, and I've been able to print a wide range of sizes of type (prior reviewer said he was unable to print larger than 1/8" - he should reread the instructions). I love the fact that not everything needs to be in all caps, and I can print on two lines. The adhesive on the labels seems to be excellent so far, and I really couldn't be happier with my purchase!

Nice starter label maker
I have always wanted an electronic label maker, so I finally ended up buying the QX50. It has a lot of features that make it nice. It has four different print sizes - the first three are 1/8" height, in varying widths, and the large mode is 3/16" height. It has a two line mode, which shrinks the type so that both lines occupy 3/16" height, combined. It is capable of printing in various type styles, including reversed, which is very handy when using the clear tape which is available. The metallic tape is useful for outdoor applications, and the plastic tape is very versatile. The paper tape is more economical, and handy for labeling folders, etc. I have used this label maker for everything from labeling my mailbox, to video tapes, electrical plugs underneath our aquarium, cable lines coming into our splitter/amplifier, etc. ... Handy, flexible label printer!
The software that comes with the LabelManager PC has some limitations, but the the LabelManager itself is just another printer to Windows. So you can mix text and graphics to your heart's content in any graphics program. I had good experiences printing mixed text and graphics from Corel Draw.

It's true that you can't print any larger on 1-inch tape than you can on 3/4-inch tape; the print head is only 1/2 inch wide. But this is Dymo's bargain printer; the higher-capability printers cost more than twice as much.

Simple to Use software, but multiple flaws
I purchased this unit because after looking at the software is seemed relatively easy to use. The first unit arrive broken. The second arrived intact and worked as Dymo intended but not as I wish it would. The problem stems from the fact that the machine acommadates four different tape sizes, but only two cartridge sizes. If you put a larger tape in, for instance one inch, rather than 3/4 inch, you are stuck with the margin limitations of the 3/4 tape and thus smaller fonts. No way to override this is software. ... What I Like About The Dymo Electronic LabelMaker
I Usually Label My Compact Discs And The Bookcovers By Using The Computer. I Type The Text On The Microsoft Word Program. Then I Press Ctrl+P And Then I Press Enter On My Keyboard To Print It. Then I Cut Around The Text And Put It In The Xyron 150 Sticker Maker, And I Can Stick It Anywhere. I Like To Make Labels By Using The Computer. Because I Can Label Things In Different Fonts, Different Sizes, And Different Colors. I Also Can Make A Label That's More Than One Line On My Computer. Then I Can Save $20.00. But I Still Love This Inexpensive Electronic LabelMaker. The Tape It's Also Easy To Peel.

Please IMPROVE THE TAPE!!!!!!!! Mothers please read!!!
This is an inexpensive, adequate label maker. However, if you're the mother of children in daycare and you have to label bottles, or anything that gets washed, forget it!!! The tape disintegrates in the dishwasher, and I have a steam sterlizer, and any plastic tape I use turns dark brown in the sterlizer.

I also wish I could make the letters more narrow, they're really thick, and it takes up too much room when labeling narrow items. Also the tape does not bend that easily, so if you're putting it on a surface across hard edges, it will not stick (plastic tape).

Absolutely easy to use
The DYMO Letratag is a great product for those who want to simply label and go. The price and ease of use is phenomenal and you can be printing labels straight away.
Another great feature is the portability of the Letratag; it is pretty light and fits well in the hand, being about the size of a large TV remote or average telephone. Labels are printed fast without any smudging, and it's VERY easy to change cartridges!
But there are a few drawbacks which caused me to lower the rating to four stars. One, the "keyboard" is styled in ABCD format, which makes it pretty aggrivating to find letters for those who can practically type with their eyes closed ;) or even just those who use standard QWERTY keyboards.
Two, while the Letratag has a few nice features including 6 text frame designs; 4 type sizes; 5 text styles (normal, outlined text, shadowed text, italic, and vertical); little symbols to decorate the text with; and many foreign characters, the lack of features may be frusterating for those who want to label much more than toy boxes or file folders or use it regularily for business purposes.
Thirdly, the two-line feature is nice but cramps the text to a very small size. It's impossible to make mailing address labels for this reason and another that you can *only* have two lines, cutting off where the name might go or the city/state/zip line.

The bottom line is you're either one of two types of labelling people. The first simply wants to quickly label things and get organized without a lot of fussing and thousands of settings.
The second needs images, other fonts, color, and more than 2 lines of printing for heavy duty labelling such as mailing labels or such things.
I would recommend this one for those in the first group. It's great for it's price and lets you get going right away!

Adequate for what I use it for
This labelmaker is adequate for what I use it for. Making labels is easy and fast, but it has a drawback. The keyboard is in ABCDE format, which takes longer to manipulate.

The cartridge format make it easy to instantly change color or material of labels.

Good product and good price
I have two complaints about an otherwise excellent product.

1- It is not very self explanatory to use all the features of the product. The manual is non existent and so it can get a bit tricky to learn all the different type fonts and label templates.

2- No capability to plug in a power adapter.

Dymo Doesn't Meet Expectations
The LabelManager was an item that I definitely needed and wanted for both home and work. However, the LabelManager does not even come close to being easy to use so for the most part, I don't use it as much as I hoped. One of the first problems I had, was the unit required 8 batteries or an AC adapter. I installed 8 BRAND NEW Energizer batteries and the unit still would not work until I used a spare AC adapter. The second problem is the awkward design of the key pad which makes it hard to type. Third, and most frustrating is that the labels do not peel away from the backing very easily. And after typing up 47 labels, I DO NOT have the patience to sit and struggle with peeling difficult labels. All-in-all, I prefer the Brother P-Touch!!

One size fits all -- not!
When I first got this item, I fell in love with it. I followed the instructions and made big, beautiful labels. Following the instructions turns out to be crucial, so don't lose them. Many settings are mutually exclusive (this also changes with different sizes of labels) and the unit does nothing to suggest there's a conflict; it simply doesn't do anything, which makes it frustrating to figure out what is wrong.

Things really get bad, though, when you use the small (6mm) labeling tape: the cartridge frequently jams during printing. I'd say I waste more than a meter of tape (per 7 meter cartridge) because of mechanical malfunctioning. You'll also waste more time unraveling jams and reassembling cartridges than it should take to make a label. The 6mm tape also lacks a split in the backing, thus making it difficult to remove the backing from the label.

I can't figure out why they made this unit so bulky: the keyboard is too small for typing, yet it's too big for "thumbing." (Here's a compromise sure to please no one. Also note that it makes keying a two-handed operation: with the only shift key at the lower left, most people won't be able to shift and hit another key with the fingers of one hand.) It's not big because the display is so generous. Maybe it's because they got stuck on the clamshell design, which I find to be a bit of a turkey: you can't operate the unit very well without setting it on a work surface.

In short, this unit will do a good job with the wider (>= 12mm) label sizes. If you need to make labels smaller than that, find something that was designed to make small labels.

I'm surprised by the negative reviews for the DYMO LabelMANAGER 300 & 200. I own the 200 for the office & am buying the 300 for use at home. PLEASE NOTE: If you like labeling (I've become addicted), there is a HUGE difference between Dymo & Brother - the ease of exposing the "sticky" side of the tape. Dymo tapes all have a split down the middle of the back which makes using them a BREEZE!!!! This is VERY IMPORTANT!! So important I can't believe it hasn't been mentioned. I even gave my Brother Touchpoint away because of this, my secretary & I found it too cumbersome to remove the label backing and I was tempted to throw it away rather than subject someone else to this lack of design.

The font selections are very easy and intuitive with these models, I'm surprised that others found them difficult. Also, a big bonus is the keyboard. They are large & very easy to use. With this purchase I'll own 3 labellers, all by DYMO, believe me, you can't beat their label tape design...

Save your money. The replacement ribbons cost more than the unit iw worth.

I use it to label my CD-Rs after I burn them. It does a wonderful job. I have not used up my first set of batteries yet. I am on my 3rd roll of labels.
