5-0 out of 5 stars Best so far
I have had no problems with the Delkin card. I purchased a Sandisk card and found that my camera would not recognize it. The Delkin card dropped in without any compatability problems. The lifetime warranty is also very attractive. This is also the best price overall that I have found.

1-0 out of 5 stars Still too much
Don't pay more than $2 per megabyte for Compact Flash. That's the sweet point. If you don't find it for $2/MB then keep shopping. This is NOT the best price.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Price
I've checked out quite a few places on-line, looking for a 16mb CompactFlash memory card for my new digital camera. I saw the CEO of Amazon.com talking on a television show about the recent launch of the Electronics section here. So I stopped by and found this price to be the lowest! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A great, useful tool!
I needed a USB SmartMedia reader and found the Delkin was the cheapest at Amazon.com. Installation was dead simple, operation is even easier. The reader is fast and definitely does its job, while the compact size makes it amazingly convenient. I have it velcro'ed to the bottom of my monitor and when I go on the road I can pull it off and throw it in my laptop bag.

My only complaint is that it seems to take a while to recognize a card swap. If I swap cards and then try to open drive E: (the drive letter assigned to the device on my computer) then Windows hangs trying to open it. So, I unplug the reader (very easy with the detachable USB cable) and plug it back in. That straightens it out but seems like it shouldn't be neccessary??

Product Description

The Delkin CardBus-32 5-in-1 Adapter...CardBus is a high-performance 32-bit version of the PC Card standard. CardBus cards are able to take advantage of internal bus speeds that can be as much as four-to-six times faster than 16-bit PC Cards. The CardBus 5-In-1 Adapter will allow consumers to get the maximum capability out of their high-speed xD, Secure Digital, MultiMediaCard, Memory Stick and Memory Stick Pro memory cards without the bottle-neck of the older 16- bit standard.Since 1998, virtually all high-end notebook products have 5-In-1 Adapter enables laptop users to take full advantage of the equipment they already own. Like all CardBus cards, Delkin's CardBus Adapter employs a special keying mechanism, which prevents insertion in systems with slots that only support 16-bit PC Cards. Therefore, CardBus cards won't work in systems that lack CardBus slots. CardBus adapters are distinguished from standard PC Cards by the gold grounding shield strip across the connector.Windows XP, 2000, ME and 98/98 SE operating systems are supported. The required driver software uses a simple plug-and-play installation. Apple Mac OS 10.2.8 through current is supported with drivers downloadable at www.delkin.com. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous storage for digital cameras and Pocket PCs
After pioneering miniature hard drive technology with its 340 MB Microdrive, IBM answered the eternal call for "More space!" with its winning 1 GB drive. I have owned and used my 1 GB IBM Microdrive for the past year in conditions ranging from normal office and home use to camping and hiking trips in Big Bend National Park and the Texas coast. My Microdrive spends most of its time in a Casio Cassiopeia E-115 Pocket PC PDA serving as file storage (including a subset of my MP3 collection), but it works equally well in a Apple Titanium Powerbook G4 laptop using the included PCMCIA card adapter. (Caveat: As of Nov 2001, Apple's OS X doesn't presently support the Microdrive; OS 9.x does so flawlessly, however.)

My husband uses his 1 GB IBM Microdrive as the primary storage media for his Canon D-30 digital camera's images. Fabulous storage for digital photographers, offering you the freedom to shoot high res and raw images without fretting about running out of storage space.

A fantastic buy, especially as the price has come down due to its popularity. Note: I have no experience with the Belkin-branded Microdrive, only the IBM MD. Iomega's MD is produced by IBM and just rebranded, and this may also be the case with the Belkin drive.

Enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Virtually unlimited digital photo storage
I bought a 1GB Microdrive Travel Kit (includes PC Card adaptor to allow use in laptops). I get over 650 high rez pictures when used in conjunction with the Nikon Coolpix 995 camera.

It also comes in very handy for transferring large files from laptop to laptop.

If you're after maximum storage for your dollars, then there can be only one choice, the Microdrive is a clear winner here. ... Read more

Product Description

eFilm PRO Cards are designed to be fast and durable for extensive shooting in the most extreme conditions. Solid-state and optimized for use in professional grade SLR digital cameras. To achieve this standard in quality and speed, Delkin has developed an innovative new technology called DQD (patent pending). The eFilm PRO cards are the only product on the market currently with DQD technology. DQD is a design and quality verification process that improves the performance of CF cards and is a Delkin exclusive. It is innovative ideas like DQD that allow Delkin to have the best warranty in the business. All eFilm PRO cards, as well as Delkin's consumer line of Digital Memory Cards, are backed with a lifetime warranty. Important note for memory cards with greater capacities than 2GB! Memory cards with capacities greater than 2GB are designed to be used with devices that use FAT 32 format. Many cameras and other electronic devices use FAT 16 format. This means if you buy a 4GB memory card for a device employing FAT 16, you will only be able to use 2GB, or half the capacity you paid for. There's nothing wrong with the card! The limitation is with the device's FAT 16.Not sure if your camera or electronic device is FAT 32 compatible? A list of some of the popular cameras designed for greater than 2GB memory cards appears below. More models are being introduced all the time. 5-0 out of 5 stars Quality not Quanity
I title this review tongue in cheek. I agree that not much can be done with 8mb's these days, UNLESS one has a piece of equipment that can only accomodate an 8mb card. And yes I have such a piece of equipment. When I purchased my digital camera, 8mb was it...a year later Olympus offered to upgrade my camera's hardware to accomodate a 16mb card but at a substantial price that I am not willing to pay. I bought my camera because of the glass optics. It once was top of the line and it still continues to take good pictures. So for me finding an 8mb card is worth 5 stars. If I had a brand new MP3 player then I would not even consider an 8mb card. But I don't so I did...

4-0 out of 5 stars Fine for sub-megapixel digital cameras
As the previous reviewer noted, 8 meg isn't enough to be useful in an MP3 player. However, the format was designed to be used WITH DIGITAL CAMERAS, not with MP3 players. On my 1.3 megapixel digital camera, an 8 mb card holds around 25 pictures -- just like a roll of film. If you have an older digital camera (Phillips ESP80, Ricoh RDC-4300, Fuji DX-7, and a bunch of others), 8 MB is the biggest card you can use (the cameras won't recognize bigger cards), so this card is an appropriate choice. If your camera's at least 2 years old, check your manual to see the biggest card you can use. If you have a newer camera, however, the $$ per meg is much more attractive with a 16 or 32 meg card.

5-0 out of 5 stars PC Card Adapter by Delkin
I purchased a smartmedia card adapter for use with my laptop about 3 months ago. The adapter functioned well for the first couple of months, however, without warning the adapter failed. My computer does not even know that the card has been inserted. Needless to say that I was very disappointed at the short life span of the adapter. I would strongly recommend a different brand adapter if you need one for your smartmedia card.

5-0 out of 5 stars The PCMCIA Smart Media Adapter is an EXCELENT Time Saver
If you own a digital camera The PCMCIA Smart Media Adapter is one of the best investments you can make. This little device will save you hours of time when you go to down load your photos. By the time you find your conector cable and get it hooked up you can have a 32 MB Smart Media Card full of photos down loaded to your computer and be back out on the beach or ball feild taking more photos. This compact device not only saves time, it will also save you money on battery purchases. No more extended periods of time that you camera has to be on while your pics are slowly flowing though the cable. The only regret I have is that I purchased my PCMCIA adapter directly from the manufacturer's website and I paid over $100.00 more for the same type product. (Feels like I got Ripped Off) From now on I will always get my digital needs from AMAZON.COM

5-0 out of 5 stars Works well!
I use this with my PowerBook G3 (bronze) and it works great. Saves lots of time downloading pictures. Easy to use. When inserted, it acts just like a hard drive, or an inserted floppy disk.

4-0 out of 5 stars Every Smart Media Owner should have one of these...
This little device so so easy to use! I simply plugged it into my laptop running Windows 98 and was transferring photos from my Olympus 450Z in less than a minute.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great product
I bought this card to use with my Powerbook G3 (Bronze) and it is great. There are no drivers to be installed -- just put it in and it works. When inserted into the adapter, the SmartMedia card shows up on the desktop as a PC hard drive. The pictures can be manipulated like any other file, and can easily be put in the trash to delete them (instead of using the camera software -- I have an Olympus C-2000). ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Buy lots if you own a digital camera like the Olympus 340
These smart media cards are indisposable and actually worth the hefty price. I have lots of them at work, home, car, etc. and just keep reusing them wherever I might have my digital camera (own an Olympus which takes these). Suggest buying the PCMCIA card that accepts these and can plug right into your computer. Then buy about 6 of these for use everywhere. Dont always fill up (because you can clear and then retake) but actually end up being good for ST storage of pictures (rather than leaving tons of heavy .jpg files on your hard-drive). Good product. ... Read more
