5-0 out of 5 stars An Adapter vs. a Reader
With so many different gadget choices, you can never figure out which one YOU need to help upload those pics you took!
The Adapter is a PCMCI card that you plug your compactflash card into. So if you have a PCMCI slot on your computer, this is your BETTER CHOICE.
If you don't, then the reader is for you.
Both are very well priced here. Both save you batteries and time. good luck. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Very acceptable Nikon d70 performance
The 12x is the slowest you can use AND be satisfied in 6MP mode. You can get four frames out @3fps before you have to wait for the buffer to write to memory in the RAW+JPEG mode. Otherwise you can shoot @ just under 1fps until the memory is full. In JPEG Fine and JPEG Normal you get 11 and 16 shots off, respectively, before this ram slows you down to just above 1fps. In JPEG Basic mode I quit at 49 shots out @3fps but never filled the buffer. Therefore, if you typically are shooting less than 1 frame per second in 6MP mode this ram will never let you down and it will handle the occasional sporting event.

2-0 out of 5 stars It's a ok card but there are much better once
I own a Canon 10D with a Sandisk ultra 512 and a lexar 512 12x.

The lexar is just slow basicly i would say go for the fast ultra 2.
But the lexar works fine only it takes time.

1-0 out of 5 stars Card was unusable after 1 use
I took about 10 shots with my canon digital rebel, uploaded to my laptop and it was fine. Put it back into the camera and it wouldn't read it. Nor did my card reader. Sent it back for a amazon replacement, but they refunded me instead. Maybe its because it's...more expensive now...

5-0 out of 5 stars Certainly faster
I bought this 512MB 12x Lexar CF card for a Canon S50 camera and I have seen a definite speed improvement. The method used to measure the speed was the number of times the writing indicator lamp blinks before it is ready to take the next picture. Also I took pictures of the same subject at same settings to maintain fairness. Here's the results of cards I have tried:
Sandisk Ultra 256 MB - 4 blinks
Viking 128 MB - 3 blinks
Lexar 12x 512 MB - 2 blinks

5-0 out of 5 stars Lexar 512 MB Card
If you're into serious digital photography, working with RAW or Tiff files, this is a must! ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

Lexar Media's high-speed digital film helps your camera capture images faster, so you spend more time taking pictures and less time waiting on your camera. Lexar's CompactFlash cards are individually speed rated so you know the minimum capability of the card. Lexar uses the same rating system used by the CD-ROM industry, where a data transfer rate of 1x equals 150 kilobytes per second (KBps). The higher the speed rating, the faster your camera will be able to write images to the memory card.

For professional shooters who need immediate confirmation they've captured the shot or who want to identify accurate exposure levels or bracketing range, Lexar's patented 12X speed (1.8 MBps) transfer rate makes the card ideal for fast-paced applications such as photojournalism, sports, and fashion. And Lexar's solid-state design provides reliability in harsh shooting environments, mandated by professionals throughout the world.

The Digital Film Compliance seal assures you that your Lexar Media digital film is 100 percent compatible with your CompactFlash digital camera. It can also be used in all other digital devices that support the CompactFlash format, such as PDAs, video recorders, and MP3 players. All Lexar Media CompactFlash cards meet the CompactFlash Association's specifications and are marked with the CF+ symbol. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars No problems!
I've been using this card with a Canon S400 camera for about four months now, taken 500+ pictures and transferred them to my computer. I've had absolutely no problems with the card, and it seems to write and erase as quickly as I could want. For me this was an excellent intersection of size and price; a capacity of roughly 125 photos at full four-megapixel resolution is plenty even for my most intensive day of photography, and this won't break the bank. I'm certainly disposed to buy Lexar stuff again in the future.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product!
I've got 2 of these cards and they have worked without a single problem. The 12x speed is also convenient -- when I am taking pictures with my Canon PowerShot A60 (2 MP), my camera can take a picture every 2 seconds (the reasoning to get a 12x over a 4x card). Downloading has been easy and has gone without a single error. The quality seems very good.

Also, keep an eye on Amazon -- the price changes a lot, so look for the best deal! Amazon is the cheapest place I found to get this card.

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth Buying
I wanted to buy a quality CF card for my quality camera Nikon 4300. I already liked the performance of the 'starter' card supplied with the camera and wanted no compromise with the performace I was expecting from my camera package.
This card has overall been worth the price and my judgement, the download speed has been excellent and I had no problems with it over last two months.

2-0 out of 5 stars Died after 12 months
Unbelievable! I lost about 20 pictures and then the card died a year after I bought it. Perhaps that is as long as they are supposed to last, but I thought I should get longer life out of the card.

4-0 out of 5 stars Happy, not angry anymore
I used to own a SanDisk SD card which pissed me off, cuz it kept wiping out files and eventually died in a few months. I switched to this product and so far (about a month, cross my fingers) everything works fine. It seems to be pretty stable, and write speed is great. Only reason not giving 5 stars is because it's only been a month, and that the price dropped seven bucks a few days after I ordered it. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

Capable of sustained write speeds of 6 MB per second, Lexar Media's 256 MB 40x CompactFlash Card is ideal for photographers who demand optimal performance from their cards and cameras. Lexar Media guarantees 100 percent camera compatibility, backing the card with a lifetime limited warranty.

Lexar's Professional Series CompactFlash Card is designed to speed up image transfer times by taking advantage of a digital SLR camera's high-speed processor. Write Acceleration (WA) technology allows WA-compatible digital cameras and CompactFlash cards to work together perfectly to pass and store images more quickly and achieve image-write speeds never before possible. In a non-WA-enabled camera, the card performs just like a standard 40x card.

Current camera partners supporting Write Acceleration Technology consist of: Kodak Professional, Nikon, Pentax, Olympus, Sanyo, and Sigma. Current camera models supporting Write Acceleration Technology include all Kodak Professional cameras and pro camera backs (such as the DCS Pro Back 645, DCS Pro Back Plus, DCS 720x, DCS 760, DCS 760m and DCS 14n); the Nikon D1x, D1h and D-100 (requires camera firmware upgrade by Nikon); the Olympus E1; the Pentax camera known as the *ist D; the Sanyo DSC-MZ3, and the Sigma SD-9.

Note: the actual image storage time will vary depending on the camera model and the particular photo-shooting conditions. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent card!
I wanted to buy the same brand card that came with my Nikon coolpix 2100 and I'm not disappointed. It works even better and faster with the camera and a 128 mb is a must.

5-0 out of 5 stars Works great so far...
I got it sooner than I was supposed to with the free shipping and it works really well with my canon s230 digital elph. I also use this card with a card reader, the same brand. I picked this card because it was 12x. I know there are cheaper 128 cards, but my canon shoots 3 minute video clips if the card is fast enough to write the data, and this one is! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars plenty fast and good compatibility
this is my first 256mb cf card. seat-o-the-pants-meter says it's at least as fast, if not a little faster, than the generic 128mb and 64mb cards i have used before (all 4x). compatibility is good, it worked in both my camera (said it would on the lexar webpage, nice compatibility list there) and pda (not on the lexar page)...

i kind of like to see a lifetime warranty on these kind of things, but 5 years probably constitutes a lifetime for this technology so i'm not overly worried about that...

throw in the rebate and u get name brand for generic price...

such a deal...

5-0 out of 5 stars works great
fast, reliable. What else do you want?

5-0 out of 5 stars Cheap, fast and too much of it
How can you go wrong with spending [money] and getting 256M? You can't. I bought the iPAQ and I wanted to transfer my files to a flash, so I don't have to carry my computer all day. IT worked. I have all of my documents and files on a single flash. I sync once or twice a week and I am ready to go. If you are on the road like I am, this flash is the best. It's cheap and with 256M, you can have everything transferred to it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Superior.
A 256 meg card in my Canon S100 set to its default resolution got a reading of 1578 shots available! That's an incredible amt of space and for someone heading off on an extended trip. In my PDA, it's good for nearly 5 hours of MP3s! I have been following CF costs on a dollar-per-meg basis for some time, and while the newest & largest cards have tended to carry a premium, more recently they have not. It is under fifty cents per meg, less than 1/4 of what it cost per meg only 18 months ago. As for the Lexar brand, it is the fastest read/write card on the market today, bar none. Sweet deal! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The Free Jumpshoot Cable makes it easy!
I have the 48meg Lexar card and just love it. The best thing is the Jumpshoot cable which hooks to any computer with a USB port (hot-swappable). Instead of hooking your camera up to your computer, you can simply take the card out of your camera and insert it in the Jumpshot Cable's slot. Then, the CF card shows up on you computer as if it were a hard drive. You simply copy them to you own hard drive. In the meantime your camera can be in use or simply saving power. (Note: The Jumpshot Cable does come with some software so it will work on your computer-PC or Mac.)

(Note: the jumpshoot cable only works with USB enabled CF cards. I like the feature so much, I simply don't use my older cards that aren't usb enabled)

In addition, Lexar is know among pro photographers as one of the better quality manufacturer's. Great Quality and a Great Product.

5-0 out of 5 stars Works great
I have a Lexar CompactFlash with the JumpShot cable and it works fantastic. Not once has it caused me any problems. Truly Plug-n-Play. I have an 8x card - and transfers are quite fast.

One of the other reviewers mentioned that the JumpShot cable would not work with any other card. This is not entirely true. The cable will work only with USB Enabled CompactFlash cards. Not all cards are USB enabled. Watch for "USB Enabled" and you'll be OK. In my humble opinion, the JumpShot cable is fast, easy to use, and takes up little space. ... Read more
