Great Price and Fast Shipping!! This cable can easily cost up $25.00 in a retail store. Nice color, great connections, and a great all around deal!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Cable in any size
I bought these Belkin cables. They are very nice quality. They seem heftier than a lot of the other cables. My system analyst neighbor mentioned that he prefers to buy the 1000 foot roll. He runs them to wall outlets, then uses the 7 foot or 14 foot snap in cable from the wall to the PC. That way, you don't have to buy a 40 dollar crimping tool.
You can't solder these cables. They require a metal to metal contact, and lead-solder doesn't qualify. Also, it is critical to keep them spiraled, all the way up to the end. Even when attaching, instructions call for twisting them right up to the connection.
Since the tech instructions, tell you to keep them down to under 350 feet, these cables, whether they are long or short, are in the right lengths.
I know Amazon doesn't print prices in their reviews, but they have the local major chain office supply stores beat hands down. The 50 foot roll was half again as much locally.
These are the Category 5e cables. They give you a better return feed, which results in better overall performance. So insist on 5e instead of just 5. I initially bought some wall plates from Radio Shack that were Category 3, then I returned those for the snap in option Category 5. Those were returned also, when I went to Home Depot (of all places to go networking) and they had the complete Leviton line of 5e accessories.
If I had to do it over again, I would still buy the Belkin 50 footers. I don't want to have a 500 foot roll of ethernet cable hanging around.
These are tops. Gold plated connectors, Snag free ends, that protect that little lock in tab on the ends. You know the frustration of unsnarling a phone wire, out of a wiring mess, and the little tab bends over backwards, never to work properly again. Well Belkin built twin arches over the sides to prevent just that. Way to go. Highly recommended, good stuff, for a good price.

4-0 out of 5 stars Its a cable.
Functional, but not my favorite snagless design. The rubber half-boots over the cable ends interfeer with the removel of this cable. This is not a problem if you're not taking the cable in and out like I do, or if you never have the cable in a tight connection like I do. There are better designs, like the ones with an additional piece of plastic covering the connection from the opposite direction.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good network cabling!
If you have--or are getting ready to string together-- a network, this cable is the best "glue" to hold your network together.

I have never had any problems with any of the Belkin cables that I have purchased and to put it bluntly, they just work!

When you string a network together, and go through the hassle of installing your NICs, running cable, and attaching the connectors, the last thing you want is a bad cable.

Buy these cables and put these fears to rest. String 'em and forget 'em. They work as your "silent partner" on your network and provide a stress-free network computing environment--at least where the cabling is concerned!

(and you thought you couldn't say a lot about an ethernet cable)

5-0 out of 5 stars Great cable
What can you say? It works perfectly and is of high qulity.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great cable, the snagless feature saves the cord
These Belkin category 5e cables are well made. They are a good overall gauge thickness and the snag less ends are very beneficial. You may have experienced the problem of untangling a phone cord, only to have the clip on the end bend over or worse yet snap off. The next time you use that cord it doesn't have anything to keep it in the wall. Well what Belkin did with these snag less cables was put twin ridges made out of a rubbery plastic, that puts the snap in clip in a valley down below the ridges. So if you are untangling, those ridges prevent other wires from snagging the clip. That is a great idea. That is not enough to make you want to buy the cable, if it weren't for the fact that it is overall a great cable. The seven-foot length is good for a small patch area, like when connecting your modem to a router, or when your cable or DSL modem and/or router are right next to your computer.
The other nice thing is the price here at Amazon on these cables. I went into the local nationally famous office supply, and they were half again as much money. So overall it is a very nice combination. They also don't slow down your connection at all. I get the same exact connection speed when using the online speed tests when I use the 50-foot, or the 7-foot.
Highly recommended. Buy it here at Amazon and save the money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Belkin cables - they're all great
7 feet, just to warn you all, unless you know for sure that the things you're connecting are gonna be close, could be a little tight, especially if you're going around a desk or something.

Looking for cables? Go with Belkin, go with snagless. You'll save yourself a lot of grief.

1-0 out of 5 stars didn't work with my boxes
I could switch from one of my boxes, but not from the other-- meaning once I switched to the second box, I was hosed! I don't know if it was defective, or if it wouldn't work with that mobo (VIA KT266), or what, but I returned it ASAP.

5-0 out of 5 stars Delighted!
Just purchased this KVM (from DELL) and could not be any more delighted!
I have a Windows XP PC and an Intel-based Linux box (RedHat 9.0). I use my 19" DELL monitor, standard DELL keyboard and DELL PS/2 wheel mouse. Both machines have display resolution set to 1280x1024 32-bit color.
I have had zero installation, distorsion, power or switching problems. The wheel on the mouse also works.

2-0 out of 5 stars Has problems with wireless keyboards...
This product has undocumented problems with Microsoft and Logitech WireLess MultiMedia keyboards (most likely all wireless keyboards), namely the port switching doesn't work (rending it useless).

Shame on Belkin for not reporting this, and shame on them for not providing support for highend keyboards and mice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product
I never knew this product existed until I stumbled upon it at the local Circuit City. I use it for my IBM ThinkPad (docking station) and my HP Desktop. I use a Samsung LCD and I see no difference in resolution or any other type of distortion. The only problem is that I can't use the scroll bar for my ThinkPad - small price to pay considering all the features of my multimedia keyboard work great on both systems!

1-0 out of 5 stars Not enough power.
I hooked this switch up to a 17" LCD monitor, a Dell desktop and an IBM Thinkpad. All worked well, except for monitor flicker when using the Thinkpad that made the switch unusable. I called Belkin support and they told me that this was due to lack of power, even though the switch was pulling from PS/2 ports on both computers. The support person recommended that I purchase Belkin model number F1DB102P, which can take input from an external power supply.

I wish I'd known this before I bought it! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Works great in Linux!
I love this unit and now have 2. It is the only USB-serial adapter I've found that works with no fuss under Linux. The only complaint I have is the bulkiness and the short cable supplied with it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pain to Install, but Good Overall
I don't know about the other OP systems, but if you are running Windows XP it is a pain to install!!! It took me 2 days before I got it running properly, and don't even think about calling tech support unless you enjoy being on hold for a half hour. When I finally got the software installed it worked out beautifully, I have not had any problems whatsoever with the adapter itself. So a few minor headached in the beginning with software installation but the over all performance of the adapter itself is excellent.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money.
I bought the -MAC version of this adapter one day at CompUSA because I needed to connect my Newton to my iMac. The first thing that I found out about it is the drivers are *very* buggy. The adapter also had to be plugged in when I booted up the iMac or the drivers wouldn't see the adapter. Same if I unplugged and replugged the adapter while the machine was running. So much for USB hot-pluggability!

Also, Belkin couldn't even be bothered to release Mac OS X drivers for this adapter. Though, considering the state of the OS 9 drivers, I don't exactly know if I'd want them.

All in all, you'd be better off with one of the USB-Serial adapters from Keyspan. (USB-PDA or High Speed) I'm going to pick one up as soon as my budget allows.

1-0 out of 5 stars Extension Conflicts Abound
I bought the Belkin Express hub because it looked neat & the lights indicating functional USB devices were important. However, over a year after buying it Belkin still has not made available software that will work with OS 9. Belkin's extensions for the Mac conflict with most other USB device extensions, including Apple's. In order to get this thing to work, I have to unplug it, start the computer, then plug it in after start up, use the device I want, then unplug it after I'm finished with the device. Otherwise, all my settings get mysteriously changed (Remote Access, printer selection, modem selection). If you want to use it for a Palm device or an older printer, use Keyspan's adapters instead. I have one & have had much fewer problems with it than this thing, The installer also installs a mysterious "printer patch" file on your hard disk, but gives you no indication where this file should be or what it does. The lights were helpful to a certain extent in that they blink to let you know that a signal has been sent to the device, however there are 4 green lights & 1 red light on each unit, regardless of how many items you can plug into it & there is no documentation that explains what different light combinations or blinking means, so you have to guess. This item is also more expensive than most of the other hubs/adapters out there & in this case you don't get what you pay for.

1-0 out of 5 stars Unacceptable product for price range
I purchased the F5U103-MAC (same product but with multi-colored sleeves) several months ago to connect my digital camera and Palm V to my laptop. As soon as I started to install the product, the problems began.

- Firstly, the instructions are sparse at best. Belkin's online site had no support (until recently).

- Second, this product defies the logic of home computers and electronics: Rather than create a product that simplifies daily tasks, this adapter has multiplied the hassle. I cannot have the adapter plugged into a hub; I cannot have the adapter plugged into my computer at startup; and I cannot have my device plugged into my adapter when my adapter is plugged into my computer. These are not major features to implement.

- Finally, the device is large and bulky with a long cable that adds to desktop clutter. My Keyspan USB PDA adapter does in just five inches what Belkin has managed to attempt in three feet.

On the positive side, the product does work when you're willing to deal with the $80 hassle. However, I honestly can't encourage readers to buy Keyspan's much cheaper (and efficient) adapter instead of this one. It's been both a disappointment and hassle. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars It costs too much, and wears out too fast!
I thought Belkin was a good name, so I payed $20 for a cable that I could have gotten for $5. After a year of heavy use it developed a short, so I purchased a cable for a quarter of the price, and it's working fine, and I bet it will last as long as the Belkin cable did. I have had trouble with several Belkin cables: my Belkin Firewire shorted, my Belkin ethernet shorted, and my Belkin VideoBus shorted. It's not the plugs, it is an intermitant short somewhere in the wire, maby it is interferance caused cheap wire.

1-0 out of 5 stars I got the wrong cable not Belkin brand
I asked for a Belkin cable but they sent me the junk cable (not a Belkin brand cable). Please don't trust this site, I ordered the cable because it says I will get the Belking brand cable for $7 but the cable they had sent me was not a Belkin brand, it is a junk cable, I hope it cost not more than 50cents.

Before you place an order make sure you are getting the right product......Bad experience.

5-0 out of 5 stars Your Digital iLink from Sony Digital8, Philips DVDR-985 & PC
Belkin provides an excellent assortment of FireWire Digital High Speed Data / Video / Audio transfer via these IEEE-1394 sheilded cables.

This cable is a 4 pin to 4 pin - 6 foot 2 way Apple FireWire & Sony iLink compatible cable. Transmit speed up to 400 MBPS (Million Bits/Per Second). The 400 speed is for digital data only. NOTE: this is an easier and better way than USB transfer!

My evaluation of this cable is for the DIGITAL VIDEO/AUDIO transfer ONLY. The max speed of which is 100 MBPS.

I have utilized this cable for digital video/audio transfer of my Sony 8mm/Hi8/Digital8 camcorder video tapes to a Philips DVDR-985 Progressive Scan Recorder and Player via this FireWire. What is truly amazing about this cable is you transfer digital information quickly and with no picture quality or audio signal loss.

I have used this cable successfully for digital video & audio transfer between Digital8 camcorder and DVD+RW Recorders (PC DVD Burner or DVD Recorder). Digital8 camcorder to Sony GV-D800 8mm/Hi8/Digital Video Cassette Recorder and the GV-D800 to the Philips DVDR-985.

This 4pin to 4pin 6 foot 2 way FireWire cable is a very necessary and outstanding addition to the world of digital data/video/audio transfer. Enjoy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Worked for me!
I needed this for the great printer I bought from AMAZON.com also. Easy to use cable - no problems!

5-0 out of 5 stars Never had a problem....
I have lots of Belkin cables, and they have never failed me. The screw down mechanism is well designed, and does not allow the screw to back out (and thus become MIA). Also, because the screw downs are rubberized, they are easier to grip and tighten. I have bought one set of the expensive gold-plated contact cables, but the added cost added nothing to performance.

3-0 out of 5 stars It's OK
Price is what attracts me the most. However, I wished it could be little bit longer so it will be able to connect the printer to the CPU. But finally, I got that problem fixed. Overall, it's a good buy!

4-0 out of 5 stars good cable but not so good as USB

Amazon.com Product Description

This Ethernet adapter helps you to link your Ethernet-equipped computers and devices over your existing, standard 110-volt electrical wiring, eliminating the need for messy cables. Installation is easy; you simply plug one end of the adapter into an available wall outlet and connect the other end to any available Ethernet port. Then Belkin's Plug-and-Play technology sets the rest up for you and provides Internet, file, and peripheral sharing for your computer, letting you network from virtually any room in your home or office.

The device fits any standard 2- or 3-prong wall outlet, offers 56-bit DES data encryption to allow for secure data transmissions, and avoids network disruption and power line noise by using PowerPacket-hopping frequencies to maintain network connections. It is compatible with Windows 98 SE, 2000, Me and XP software, and includes a life-time warranty and free 24 hour technical support.

5-0 out of 5 stars Flawless connection
I plugged this up, and within fifteen minutes I got it to talk to the Netgear powerline usb adapter on the other computer (server) with little networking experience. At first I had it plugged into an outlet right next to the computer and was very unhappy with my results (500kb/s on internet speedtest), so I thought I might be able to improve the speeds by plugging it into a different outlet. When I tried the next ac outlet I received a PERFECT connection (3mb/s on internet speedtest) . I would definately recommend this adapter as it has remained completely stable.

4-0 out of 5 stars Plug it in and it works
This is the simplest, easiest to use networking technology ever. You plug in two of these little jobbies and connect up the ethernet cables and they just work. I networked by parents remotely with these. I use these at home. I haven't bothered to measure the speed because they are a great improvement over the wireless setup I used to go from my office to my living room.

I use this model at home, and other companies' models elsewhere--they've all worked. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Cable
I got a good deal at Amazon.com, With free shipping it makes it worthwhile. The Same Cable is thirty bucks in the retail store. It looks very sturdy and doesnt flop around. It has a cool translucent look. It is braided. The contacts are of solid quality.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Deal
...This is a very good quality cable. It has a very nice fell to it. The braided sleeve gies it a "stay" not seen with the rubber sleeve cables.
I do not see the logic in spending a lot of money on cables. There are cheaper ones on Amazon.com, but ony this was eligible for the free shipping. I was familiar with how it looked since I had shopped for it in the retail store. With the free shipping (& no taxes) this is an excellent deal. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It works well
With this kind of product, it just come down to if it works or it doesn't. Unlike speaker or video cables, the quality of shielding or core material does not really make the differences.
There are standard for USB 1.1, and USB 2.0. If the cable was manufactured to meet those standard, it works. If it didn't... Well, it won't work.
This product works well with all my needs. But if you are looking for cables for USB 2.0 products, look else where. USB 2.0 requires much higher quality cable. ... Read more
