5-0 out of 5 stars Great Price and Great Product
I disagree with sid60's review, I have been using the Memorex brand for more than a year now, and so far, I never got a single bad disc. It has to be his cd writer, computer, or software. I have a 52x Lite-On drive, and I use burning sofwares like Nero Burning Rom, Clone CD, CDRWIN, DiscJuggler to burn cds all the time, againt, never got a problem. Also, the cds that are made in Taiwan are in high quality as well. As of 11/12/2003, it's only $9.98 for one 50-Pack Spindle, everyone should stock up, I did, hehe.

5-0 out of 5 stars MPEG1 videos
I use Memorex & Sony CD-Rs to create MPEG1 CD-R of various TV one-hour shows/series/episodes. I now have complete set of several TV shows - so if it's several years before they go to DVD, at least I'll have a digital copy. The MPEG1s can be played on any computer that has Windows Media Play version 6 or higher. The MPEGs WILL NOT PLAY on standalone DVD players (yet/pre 2002 models).

1-0 out of 5 stars Too Cheap of media!
I thought I had great respect for memorex, but after this I do not. I would say this spindle that I picked up on a whim becuase of price is about 50/50. Half burn and the other coaster. This is on a Plextor which never coastered until now. I dunno probably the last time I buy media online from a big store. Anymore I choose to go to media specialty stores, they sell good media and they give you a good price. Don't know what happened to quality control but it went downhill for memorex. Spend less on commercials and get yourself decent products.

5-0 out of 5 stars perfect
Memorex is the best brand for CD-R. Never had any problems whatsoever with their CD-R's. Other brands have a tendancy to skip after repeated usage, not so with Memorex! Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars great
Definitely recommend these CD-R's. The price is great for so many CD's. Memorex brand never disappoints. I've been burning with Memorex CD's for a year and while other brands tend to go bad after repeated usage, Memorex CD-R's never fail. Stick with Memorex.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best I've Used
I never thought I would burn a cd without noise on it. I had been using a 4X USB burner with Maxell gold discs, and thought the burner was the problem. Then I got a new computer with a 40X writable burner, and had the same problem, even at only 4X speed. I was about ready to give up on burning music, and I bought these Memorex discs. Perfect burn at 40X. No noise whatsoever. Definitely the best I've ever used, and the only ones I'll use from now on. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars CD Sleeves that work well
Well, what can I say? They are CD Sleeves, they are all basically the same. These come in a 50 pack box and have a hole in the back to put a flap in to hold it down, this comes in handy if you are mailing the disks in these CD Sleeves. The Window Cut-Out is good because you can easily see what is on the disk, of course, all CD Sleeves have this.

The one thing that is really nice about these CD Sleeves is that the price is excellent!

4-0 out of 5 stars Simple product but designed well
The 50 pack are all white, and the window in the front is a useful feature - lets you see what's on there without resorting to opening the envelope. The tab on the back helps keep the disc from falling out - a nice touch.

5-0 out of 5 stars among the best jumps
I have two of these memorex jumps "thumbdrive." Both have worked fine and taken a lot of abuse as well!
To the reveiwer below who had trouble with their USB, perhaps you a a newbie. I suggest you check your machine. I have used a dozen different brands (memorex, sandisk, lexar, etc) and never had trouble with a single one or machine pc or mac, usb 1, 1.2 or 2.0 and any drive. perhaps you twisted it while taking it out.

In any case memorex support is great, I had one drive I crushed in a door (my fault and a strong enough impact to also destroy may car alarm gizmo) and they sent me a new one! I have had otehr brands (ironically the lexar "sport"), where the keychain holder broke, memorex is actually more study than most)

Memorex jumps are also true usb 2.0 and there are a few cheap ones that aren't.

4-0 out of 5 stars Works for me.
I had a bit of trouble getting the drive to be recognized on some of the older PCs at work but soon figured that out.

It takes some getting used to but I now use it all the time to transfer the data I used to carry on floppies and some CDs.

If you can't get it to work for you, stick to floppies!

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst Flash Drive to buy
This is the worst flash drive ever someone can buy. I bought two of them for my personal use and both of them failed to work between USB2.0 and USB1.1. I've two computers at my home with one being USB2.0 and the other one being USB1.1. This flash drive miserably failed to work. Every time, I switch between the USB systems, the flash drive would have to be formatted.

This is more nuisance then ever.

I would never by a flash drive from Memorex ever in my life and I would certainly inform my friends about the same.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at prsiva@hotmail.com

5-0 out of 5 stars VeRy Handy!
Well, I only just bought the thing yesterday, so I can't vouch for it's longevity or the plastic top not breaking or cracking....but....it writes super fast, is very portable, comes with the driver for Win98 on cd, comes with a usb cable for destop users and is so tiny - I can't believe how much data I can put on the little thing. It's really nice not to have to load drivers or worry whether someone else's computer has a cd burner or not...The thumb drive is really useful for me when I go traveling and have to work on projects on the road.

3-0 out of 5 stars Key chain part broke off
I had bought the 128 mb model which is the same case as the 256 mb. It worked just fine as a memory device but the key chain part broke off after 3 month. I know that putting anything on a keychain that is carried in a pocket causes extra stress on the keychain dodads. The Memorex USB drive couldn't take it. The plastic part that held the key ring broke. If you don't carry this is your pocket with keys it should be fine. Not sturdy enough ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Won't work with Philips Jackrabbit CD-Rewriter
I tried using these CD's with the Philips Jackrabbit CD-Rewriter and they don't work.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fast write, slow read
These worked well for my cd-r drive which is a 12x10x32 Lite-on. Mine burns cd-rw @ 10x and it works at that speed. Pretty good! Of course, almost all cd-rw disks read at much slower speeds than cdr disks. Most of the time cd-rw read at 8x (depending on your drive). Most cd-rw drives do not specify the speed at which it reads cd-rw, if your doesn't, it's probably reading cd-rw's @ 8x. These memorex disks are the first CD-RW disks with both, 700MB capacity AND high speed 4-12X. If you have a drive that supports higher than 12x, you should purchase memorex's "Ultra high speed" cd-rw which allow writing @ 12-24X. They come in red box instead of blue.

1-0 out of 5 stars Dave
Don't waste your money on these CD-RW discs. They don't work on all high speed labeled CD-RW drives. Won't work on (name brand) Creative Labs high speed CD-RW drive. Works some on NEC drive, but if you record music on them they "lock up" and and won't allow you to re-write the disk again, it just shows disk error when you try to erase it. I have had no problems with other brands of high speed CD-RW media from Yamaha or Imation. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Disks for My MP3 Player!
I have purchased 3 of these 10-pack CD-Rs. I have used some of these to make MP3 disks for use with my Philips portable MP3 disk player and they are just great for that! They obviously don't hold as much as the regular sized CD-R disks but these are all I need. I have also successfully burned just regular data to a couple of these disks. All is well with these little CD-Rs. Buy them if you have one of the MP3 players that use the 3" disk type.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Size Is Right
Two words: shirt pocket. Are there files that you like to keep with you, and you want to be able to carry from the office, to home, and beyond?

USB flash drives are great, but if you have access to CD burners and want to keep files with you, this is a fantastic option--and at a fraction of the price of a flash drive.

5-0 out of 5 stars SWEET!
I love these little toys.don't use them for just WAV files (or regular music cd files), that makes them a total waste of money.using them as MP3 cd's however is perfect.they're great because you can keep them in your glove box in your car, and if used as MP3 cds, you can keep like 3 albums on one disk.Plus, they're cool!it says so in the product description.

4-0 out of 5 stars Solid performance with great value!
Before I start, I would like to remind people that compatability problems still exist with CDRW burners. Some media brands will just work better on certain hardware/burners. On reviews like these, it's best to state your burner as well so readers will have an idea of what media matches best with what hardware/burner. I would also like to remind people that compatability problems exists between CDRs and late model CD players - wether on a boombox or on your car's player.

Ok now onto my review... I have a LiteOn CDRW 40x burner (on my old PC), Teac DVD+/CDRW combo burner and an LG-Hitachi 48x CDRW burner. Memorex media works flawlessly on all these burners! Music CDs that I made plays perfectly on all my components - 5-disc Sony caroussel from the early 90s, my DVD player from 2000 and the rest of my CD players in the house and not to mention my car's CD player. No problems at all.

The only problem I encountered was when I made VCDs using these disc. They "sometimes" wouldn't work on my Panasonic DVD/VCD player (year 2000). They would give me playback problems such as pixelation and audio skipping! But when using another brand, such as TDK or Fuji, I don't get these playback problems. The Memorex VCD would work on my dirt-cheat Apex though. Further, establishing the idea that media do have compatability problems.

Considering my hardware, the brands that gave me no problems at all were: TDK, Fuji and Maxell - they just work flawlessly on whatever I throw at them. I would put the Memorex up there with the other brands but they seem to be only good when it comes to music and data but now much on video projects. But since most people use their CDRs for music and data anyway, these CDRs are still a great buy in my opinion! I currently have TDKs and Memorexs.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not the best CD-Rs, but far from the worst
Over the years I've used several different brands of CD-Rs and CD-RWs. Memorex is a solid brand, most of the disks on a spindle will burn fine, though you will gt some coasters.

Personally, I'd prefer to use FujiFilm CDs (which are much more reliable), but Memorex is a better value. But for reliability and value, go with Imation.

1-0 out of 5 stars First review and had to be a negative one, SORRY
I dont write reviews, well this is my first one....
well I bought tthis Memorex 80 Minute/700 MB 52X CD-R Discs (100-Pack Spindle), in January and I was so happy because i thought it was a great deal.... but I WAS WRONG, I dont burn cds daily, so the time passed, and I noticed that when I was burning any king of data in this cd-rs I noticed that they had file errors... so far I have thrown away like 20 cd-rs because they are not good backup copies, I have like 60 blank cd-rs and Im gonna throw them away....THE WORST THING ABOUT THIS IS THAT I CANT GET MY MONEY BACK.

Thank you

2-0 out of 5 stars Very Cheap Quality Media
Now I know why these discs are so inexpensive. You get what you pay for. My Toshiba and Plextor burners can handle 16x and 40x burn speeds but anything over 2x with these discs will fail at about the 20% mark. When attempting to burn at speeds over 4x, these discs cause both my burners to vibrate loudly before failing. Maybe I just got a bad batch but the discs are very flimsy and the wavy imperfections in the dye is very obvious to the naked eye. When pulling the discs off the center holder of a cd jewel case, the discs will bend a lot more than any other disc I've used. You can tell these are low quality without even burning on them. I'm surprised I had a few successful burns. I will never buy these discs again and will stick to my favorite TDKs and Verbatims for a few dollars more.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent product, used over 400 over the years....
Memorex cd-r's are one of the best cd-r's on the market.

I've been using them for the past 6 years or so and I've recorded around 400+ cd-r's over the years and probably have only had maybe a dozen bad cd's.

Usually when you have a bad cd-r it is because I've gotten in such a hurry that I forget to turn off the screensaver that could cause problems in the recording of the cd (user mistake, not the cd-r). lol.

Advice for users that aren't too familar with recording cd-r's, try not to leave your screen saver on while recording, also try not to be doing other things on the computer at the same time as you are recording cd's. This will help ensure that your cd-r will record perfect 100% of the time. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

This 25-pack of 4x DVD+RW discs for newer DVD+R/+RW drives (part number 32025541) consists of rewriteable, single-sided discs that store up to 4.7 GB of data and approximately 240 minutes of video (depending on your mastering software; 120 minutes optimal)--that's more than six times as much data as will fit on a recordable CD. You can transfer your home movies from VHS or 8 mm cassettes, back-up computer hard drives and large files, or stuff them chock full of MP3 music files and JPEG image files from your digital camera.

Rewritable "plus" discs require no finalizing--you can record, eject, and play them with minimal fuss, thanks to "background formatting." This feature, which lowers total burning time, is an advantage over the "dash" formats. For PC users, DVD+RW also offers advantages over DVD-RW, including on-disc content editing, built-in defect management, and multisession writing.

You can transfer your home movies from VHS or 8mm cassettes, back-up computer hard drives and large files, or stuff them chock full of MP3 music files and JPEG image files from your digital camera.

The discs are backward-compatible with older, 2.4x DVD recorder drives through the use of a simple firmware upgrade for the drive in question, which you can downloaded at www.dvdrwservices.com. A one-year warranty protects you against defects in the near term, while the discs' rated archival life of 70 to 100 years means you can rest easy about the future of your data.

Special Note:If you currently own a 2.4x DVD+RW/+R Drive you must upgrade your firmware. 2.4x Write Speed DVD+RW/+R Drives sold by Memorex, Phillips, H/P, Verbatim, Sony and QPS require a drive firmware upgrade. Memorex 4x media is compliant with the new 4x write speed standards. Using the Memorex 4x Write Speed media with a 2.4x write speed DVD+RW/+R drive that has not had a firmware upgrade to support the new 4x write speed standards may result in writing errors, data retrievable failure and damage to the data on this disc. Please make sure to confirm whether your drive supports the new 4x write speed media before use.

Good stuff for the price. Double check the price on the 25, 50, and 100 spindle since the 25 was cheaper to buy for awhile. I have used many of these and no problems with playback at x4 burn speed and no coasters using Nero. They are also less flimsy than the cheaper ones. Also, I like not any coloring on disks (all silver) so makes easier for labels. I think that if people are having problems with playback near the end of the dvd, they should try dialing down the burn speed. I actually go x2 burn speed for some other brands (kypers).

5-0 out of 5 stars Great media for a great price!
Half of the spindle is gone but not one coaster! I have a progressive Panasonic DVD player, bought in 2000, that plays them flawlessly. Eventhough they're rated at 4x, these babies burn at 8x on my 8x Teac DVD+R/RW burner with no problems. I've backed up my kids DVDs and all of them plays like the original... I also transfered most of our home videos to DVD format using these discs and so far, 3 out of 4 DVD players in the house plays them. The only exception is our very first DVD player that was bought in 1998 or 1999 (if I'm not mistaken - and yes it costed us more than $600!). I'm not blaming this on the media as this DVD player (another Panasonic) was one of the first-wave DVD players to ever first hit the consumer market...

With me saying this, it is important to remember that some media are more compatible with certain units/burners compared to others. This holds true with CDRW burners and it's not any different here. You also have to remember that if you have a DVD burner that is rated at 2x, you may need to upgrade your firmware in able to burn onto 4x media reliably. And also, don't forget that some older stand alone DVD players may have compatability problems with these disc and not play them at all.

In the end, my advice would be to buy a 2-pack of DVD media and try them out first. Yes, they're expensive but they will serve your wallet better in the end. If they work, then it'll be ok to proceed onto buying spindles. And if they don't, then at least you won't be banging your head on the wall for buying 50 pieces of useless junk... err I mean coasters!

1-0 out of 5 stars LOW QUALITY Disks - These are CMC Magnetics F01
As nomorecoasters mentioned, these are pathetic garbage landfill materials. I originally bought a stack of 50 of these Memorex 4x DVD+Rs, they all burned fine. I heard from forums that CMC disks suck. As a non-believer, I bought another stack. This time, I hit the jackpot. Out of 10 disks, 4 disks have data verification failures on them. Every one of these disks would have funny looking rings on the written side due to uneven dyes. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

5-0 out of 5 stars Attention NEC 1100A Owners
My NEC ND-1100A DVD burner would only burn the Memorex DVD+Rs at 2.4X until I updated the firmware to 1.91 from 10GE. Now I'm able to burn at 4X without any problems. (Note that I had to update to version 1.90 before I could make the 1.91 updater recognize my drive. You'll need to obtain NECND1100A_190i.exe and NECND11_191.exe, which are found in the nec-1100.zip file that I downloaded from opendrivers.com.)

1-0 out of 5 stars Beware NEC 1100A Owners!!
I had backed up many DVDs on Memorex dvd+r at 4X, so this time i went for the 50pack. The problem is that these new discs will only burn at 2.4X, probably they changed the id coding in the dvds and the last firmware upgrade for the NEC 1100A doesn't support 4X writing on these brand. Now i'm stuck with a 50pack spindle that only burns at a slow 2.4X(about 40 min per DVD). So before you buy i'd suggest you buy a pair of individual DVD's just to make sure they will work on your burner. I'll guess i'll try the HP DVD+R 4X that are priced very similar. And also NEC won't do any more firmware upgrades on the 1100A. The newest version is 10GE and it does not support these. It was released may 2003. ... Read more
